some tinkaton headcanons:
- they’re like little junkyard queens. they thrive in landfills and often have ‘clans’ within it.
- the bigger the hammer, the higher up in the pecking order you are. however, the more dark blue a tinkaton has on its hammer, the more respected a tinkaton is. it’s a sign of how many corviknights they’ve been able to hunt for scrap metal.
- variations of tinkatons will build clubs, wrenches, bats, and other tools.
- they do create and use smaller tools in order to build their hammer. some people consider these to be collectors items because tinkatons are extremely volatile and protective, and will risk their lives (and kneecaps) wandering into the homes of a tinkaton clan to pilfer their tools.
- it’s a sign of deep trust to have a tinkaton leave their hammer with their trainer instead of carrying it constantly. they don’t expect or even want them to carry it necessarily, but they still want someone to keep an eye on it.
- a tinkaton would sooner die in battle than run away and leave its hammer behind.
- they have a mutual assistance sort of relationship to local revarooms. revarooms are much larger than tinkatons by a solid four feet, and i think that they grant a group of tinkatons some more bullying ability for bigger pokemon in the region that are unafraid of the hammer or are quick enough to dodge it. in exchange, tinkatons can and will repair a revaroom using spare scrap metal instead of using it on their hammer. naturally, tinkatons will turn on a dime if a revaroom decides to give them even the slightest bit of trouble and will dismember it for scrap metal.

Tinkaton will constantly repair and modify their hammers with scrap metal they find, but some are more excessive about it than others. Certain tinkaton have been known to alter their hammers until they are too big and unwieldy to even lift off the ground. Funny as this can be to witness, this behaviour causes a lot of issues, as it leaves them less mobile in combat and more vulnerable to predators. A tinkaton without its hammer is easy prey.

I keep going back and forth between Klawf and Tinkaton being my favorite of the generation and honestly now that I have my blue boy I’m stuck on crab mode
You have no idea how badly I want gamefreak to now give me a game where krabby, crabrawler, and klawf are all available. If my current team had a Kingler I’d be unstoppable.
