thinking abt hardcore phil.. most of his shelves are dusty because he has more stuff than he needs stored on them. he tracks dirt and sand and leaves all over his base and has to sweep every single night. every book he reads ends up with his own little annotations in the margins that are mostly little doodles of what the paragraph reminded him of. there’s a pile of random patches of fabric on the floor next to his bed, he meant to turn it into a quilt ages ago. he stays out all night during thunder storms just to collect the heads of mobs to hang on his walls then goes to sleep as the sun rises with soaking wet hair. he tries to make what he can entirely by himself, it would be easier to buy things from a villager sometimes but he’s stubborn. the sleeves of his shirts are always rolled up because it’s usually warm where he lives, which has resulted in really odd tan lines on his arms. he both knows where everything is stored in his base and also forgets the exact placement all the time. his hands are calloused from the long days of working without gloves (he has gloves now and he only forgets to put them on almost half of the time). he takes photos all the time and tries to paint what he’s seen instead when he can’t. the tips of his fingers are always a little shiny from the amount of gapples he eats on a daily. sometimes he forgets about his wings (somehow, after all this time) and they smack against doorframes as he leaves. he places the plants inside his of base outside when it rains instead of storms. there’s a few pieces of random pottery around the base from when he attempted to learn how to do so properly. he likes to stomp in the puddles left by the rain, especially when there’s a crow sitting next to it. he loves the world, his home, a lot because it’s his in everything that he does

Dream Smp Reacting to a Witch!Hybrid Part 2

A/N: Y'ALL I NEARLY CRIED WHEN I CHECKED THE MORNING AFTER I POSTED THE FIRST PART (/hj). I was not expecting to get as much notes as I did, I'm so happy that people are enjoying what I'm writing!

Also, I am writing Schlatt from the Manburg v. Pogtopia war and Techno, Tubbo, and Ranboo from the current (season 3 I think lol) time in the streams. Sorry that Ranboo's headcanon is a little short 😅.

It was a pretty bad day for you

While searching for supplies, you were captured by Manburg forces

On the way to a holding cell, you and the captors (which were Quackity and Fundy) were brought to a stop by a tall ram hybrid

He snarled at the two men and they quickly let you go before walking away

He rolled his eyes at the sight of the other hybrid

"What were you doing near the walls?"

"I was gathering supplies for a potion-"

"Are you good at making potions?"

"I mean I'm part witch so I'm decent."

He hummed and crossed his arms

"Snarky, rebellious, and a hybrid? You must be after my own heart."

He looked you up and down before smirking

Y'all know what smirk I'm talking about

"How about this: you work for me and I'll give you protection throughout my nation and all the resources you could ask for."

After that day, you reluctantly worked for him, often sending him glares whenever you thought he wasnt looking

"Look at that asshole, I bet he gives good hugs. >:( "

You and Schlatt are literally the dictionary definition of the enemies to lovers trope

You guys are either at each other's throats or shamelessly making heart eye

When he's making sure everyone is being productive, he always stays a little while longer

Schlatt will legit spend the day with you so he could "examine your effectiveness during work"

Totally not flirting with you and pulling you close to him whenever you so much as looked at him

Schlatt totally keeps at least 20 potions you made in his office

Not really because he's using them, but because he just likes to be reminded of you

But if anyone asks him he'll get incredibly defensive and say that they are for professional reasons

Absolutely not because he has a big fat crush on you

He tells you corny shit all the time

"Hey, Y/n, I need you to turn someone into a frog."

"Is everyday Halloween for you?"

"I'll give you 30 bucks if you can fly away on that broomstick."

He may take a long time to admit it but loves you so much

Technoblade

Phil introduced you to one another

You and Phil had been friends for a while before he introduced you to each other

You were dropping off some potions for him in the Antarctic Empire when a piglin walked in the door

The blonde smiled and walked towards his friend

"Oh hey, Techno! How was the nether?"

The piglin huffed and started to walk away before Phil put a hand on his shoulder

"We have a guest, this is Y/n."

You smiled and gave a small wave

"It's nice to meet you!"

Techno only grunted and walked to a separate room

The witch hybrid frowned before Phil laid a small hand on their shoulder

"Don't worry about him, Y/n, he's not very welcoming to strangers."

From then on, it was your mission to get him to like you

For weeks you spent making elaborate potions to try to win over some of the piglin's attention but to seemingly no avail

He would just look at the potion for a few seconds, grunt, and walk away

That was until the snowstorm

Out of nowhere, a snowstorm pummeled through the Antarctic Empire

Technoblade found you in the snow and took you inside the house, laying you next to the fire

After a few hours, you slowly opened your eyes

Where am I?

Why was it so warm?

Was I kidnapped on the way to see Phil?

"You were passed out in the snow."

You quickly sat up, thinking he had read your mind as he grabbed a potion

He walked over to you, offering the glass

"It's one of the health potions you made me. Please, drink up."

"You actually kept those?"

He nodded, moving to a seperate chair

"They are... actually pretty useful."

After a few minutes of warming up and awkward silence, you spoke up with a small smile

"Thank you, Techno."

The next couple of weeks were spent giving each other small acts of affection

You'd give him more potions and he'd spend more time with you

He claimed that he was just "protecting you in case of another storm" but we all know that man is soft for you

He likes using both his own and potions he gets from you

He's confident in his ability to brew potions but he finds the fact that it is a product of your doing to be comforting

Techno did everything in his power to keep you away from violence, but it usually didn't work

Even though he cared about your safety more than anything else, he needed your expertise in case he or his allirs were to get hurt

But he still needs at least an hour to hold you afterwards, mumbling about how worried he was for you and how he loves and appreciates that you do this for him

Tubbo

You were the best potion brewer on the SMP

Late for a therapy appointment and need to get there ASAP without it lasting for a long time? You make a potion of swiftness that will last for 45 seconds

Super stressed for an exam you have tomorrow? How lucky it is that you make a potion of fixation so you can study hard for a few hours

Everyone came to you for potions of all, whether is was simple or incredibly specific

And that's how you met Tubbo

He knew about your reputation as the best witch on the server and he was in dire need of a potion

This is why he stood at your door with his very tired child sniffling in his arms

"Hey, I know it's late but do you have something that could help my son? He has this cold and won't sleep because of a cough. I really just need him to feel better and-"

"Oh I can try to help with that! Just give me a few minutes to make sure the potion is safe for him."

He nodded and followed you back inside

You led him to sit on a small couch with the baby zombie piglin and walked towards your brewing stand

After a few minutes, you smiled and sat next to Tubbo

"I usually don't make potions for children, but this should be the right dosage for your son."

He let out a sigh of relief and gently took the potion

"Thank you so much, is there anyway I can repay you?"

"No payment necessary! I'm just happy to help your son."

Tubbo looked taken aback but suddenly smirked at you

"We should capitalize on this >:) ."

The next few days were spent at Snowchester, learning how to start your own business from Tubbo

You quickly became friends with him

After starting your business, you made regular trips to Snowchester

Sometimes it was to drop potions off for clients, other times it was to cause absolute chaos with your best friend

Whether that be selling powerful potions or pulling pranks on anyone in sight

One of your favorite pranks was when you and him gave Tommy a potion of emense strength and when he went to give Quackity a pat on the back he sent him flying out the window

Luckily he was able to fall into water but the sight of the usually charismatic and stoic casino man screaming like a toddler at Tommy for trying to kill him

Of course both of you explained what happened through wheezes and watched as the two turned tomato red

"That wasn't funny at all-"

"It was hilarious!"

"It was kind of funny, Big Q."

"You children don't get to speak."

"It was a little amusing..."

"BRUH-"

You and Tubbo are a chaotic force of nature in a very good way

Ranboo

Let's be honest

You meet the enderman hybrid through Tubbo

The poor boy is too awkward and busy taking care of his son to be making a lot of acquaintances

So building off of how you met his husband, you were probably introduced to each other soon after meeting Tubbo

You meet him when you go to check on Michael after his visit

Tubbo introduces you, of course

"Ranboo, this is Y/n! They are the witch that helped Michael feel better."

And he honestly didn't need to hear anything else before determining that he liked you

After all, you helped one of the most important people in his life, so you must be a good person!

Once you started visiting Snowchester more, the two of you became close friends!

You found the hybrid incredibly interesting

He would always be happy for you to test new potions on him, too

You enjoyed the challenge of figuring out what ingredients would be most effective for his genetics, while Ranboo was happy to be helping a friend and learning a bit along the way

He absolutely gets all of his potions from you

You are one of the few people that not only have the skill to make quality potions, but to also know what would work for the hybrid's body

You two are one of the more calmer friends

Rather than pulling off pranks or causing chaos, you guys mostly just walk around the server and talk about what's going on

Your friendship is wholesome af

Working on an old AOS Trek fic with my OC. Not sure what I’m doing wrong. My story had gotten quite a few reviews on an old ffic.net account before I lost the email and had to restart all over. I’ve made several changes, fixes, etc and have poured my heart and soul and everything into it.

But no feedback. :(

I’m miserable.

Tuesday, 12/7/21 I got word that we lost my Uncle Phil. He battled a horrendous 2-week battle with Covid-19 and bacterial pneumonia.

The same day, my husband tested positive for Covid-19. He hasn’t met my uncle, so no link there. My husband has been quarantined since then in our bedroom while my 19 month old daughter and I are separated from him until December 15th. Meanwhile I have tried keeping my daughter in her room as much as possible - however she’s like me and needs some contact besides eating and changing.

So, I Lysol sprayed and wiped so much, unknowingly causing her to breakout in rashes. So now I’m battling that as well as a sore throat and coughing - however negative for Covid, and running things up and down the stairs for my husband.

I’ve had two small breakdowns. We are awaiting our daughters Covid test that I had them do just in case.

Summary: After Nero's attacks in Space, the Enterprise returns home until her next mission. Upon arriving back to Earth, Kirk finds that he has a long-lost relative, who he's never met. Will finding out that he has a Sister he's never known, impact his future as Captain of the U.S.S Enterprise?

Parings: Bones/OC, Spock/Uhura

Rating: T - For now. (See Warnings.) Warnings: If you have not watched the 2009 Reboot of Star Trek, you won't really be spoiled. HOWEVER, there are some themes here. It's major Angst, and there's a bit of Self-Harm in this story. I have rated the story as T, but that will change eventually. 

Disclaimer: I own nothing but Jim's sister (of whom is to be announced next chapter). The new & revised title of this fic is ‘Atlas’, named after The Score’s first album. (Psst, go peep The Score on Spotify, Pandora or YouTube…)

As a thank you for reaching 2.5k followers, I thought it was about time to stop being lazy and do a gif tutorial as it has been frequently requested. Hopefully, this will help anyone who wants to start making gifs as well as anyone who wants to understand how to create colourings!

What You Will Need: - Photoshop (I use CC) - A source video

What Will Be Covered: - How to get the video - Timing, Resizing & Cropping - Sharpening - Colouring (and how to achieve extra af colours) - Subtitles - Saving your gif

This is going to be very thorough and informative (to the best of my ability) so all the information on how to make gifs is below the cut! As a disclaimer, you can use any version of photoshop for this.

1. Getting the Video.

For this tutorial, I’ll be using a random clip from Dan & Phil’s crash bandicoot video. There are a lot of different methods to download a youtube video but I prefer using clipconverter. When downloading a video, you want to get the highest quality available (always try to get at least 720p). I used the download settings shown below:

Once it’s downloaded, open up photoshop and import the video. To do this, go to File > Import > Video frames to layers. I use the settings shown below. (I had to trim the video slightly to only include the part I wanted)

Now that your video is imported, make sure your workspace looks similar to mine (the timeline section is the most important thing for gif making. you can add it from the window menu).

2. Timing, Resizing & Cropping.

Timing is super important in making sure your gifs aren’t too fast or too slow. To alter the frame rate, select all your frames (shown at the bottom of your workspace) and then click on where it says 0.04 change the speed to 0.09.

After that, we have to change the image size since it’s currently way too big for tumblr. To do this, go to Image > Image size and change it to the settings shown below. 540px is the current optimised sizing for tumblr although 268px is used when making gifs that will be displayed in two columns like this.

Cropping is an optional step that I sometimes do as a way to make the file size smaller/for the aesthetic. Youtube videos have a default ratio of 16:9 and to alter the ratio you just use the crop tool and change it to what you desire. side note: I often use the cinematic ratio of 2.35:1 (i used it in this tutorial’s header).

3. Sharpening.

Sharpening your gifs is essential to making them look clean and crisp. Below is the difference between what our current gif looks like with and without it:

As you can see, the second gif is way more crisp and defined. I use this action to sharpen my gifs (Full details on how to use it can be found in the link.) Once the action is finished, I then convert the frames into a video timeline by pressing the button in the bottom left:

I then select all the layers, right click, and convert to smart object. Now your workspace should look like this:

4. Colouring.

Colouring is by far my favourite part about gifmaking and the reason why I made this tute (questions about colour have always filled up my inbox so I hope this answers some of them). I’m going to show you how to make the same bright blue colouring that I used for the header!

 I’d like to start by saying that I never took art or design classes so my knowledge on why adjustment layers do what they do is very minimal. I pretty much learnt how to colour by playing around in Photoshop so this is just a disclaimer about how there is probably an easier/proper/more informative way to do this.

I didn’t particularly know how to explain half the settings so some will be accompanied by screenshots while others will just have descriptions (I really hope it makes sense because heck, my colouring method is chaotic).

Firstly, we want to make a new group to put the adjustments in so to do this you go to Layers > New Group... and make sure the mode is set to pass through.

To create colourings, I use the following adjustments: - Vibrance - Curve - Levels - Brightness/Contrast  - Selective Colour - Hue/Saturation - Colour Balance (occasionally)

Vibrance: I almost always make the vibrance +100 (I don’t alter saturation)

Curves: how you make a curve will differ with every video but for this gif I set my curves to this

Levels: it does a similar job to curves tbh

Brightness/Contrast: I chose not to alter it for this tute.

Selective Colour: now this is where A LOT of adjustment is going to happen. I found this section the hardest to explain so I apologise in advance. I tend to heavily alter cyan and blue.  

Since we have the ability to alter red, yellow, green, cyan, blue, magenta, white, neutral, and black, I’ll write the specific adjustments I used instead of adding a lot of pictures to this already massive post. But this is what selective colour looks like:

Reds: Cyan -34, Magenta +5, Yellow +8, Black - 7 Yellows: Cyan - 37, Magenta -31, Yellow +35, Black +14 Cyans: Cyan +100, Magenta +100, Yellow -100, Black -36 Blues: Cyan +100, Magenta -65, Yellow -100, Black -26

Now this is what it should look like after adding all those adjustments:

Yes, it is slightly blue but not THAT blue. We then have to add a second selective colour layer with these settings:

Cyans: Cyan +100, Magenta +15, Yellow -100, Black - 8 Blues: Cyan +100, Magenta -21, Yellow -100, Black +15 Blacks: Cyan 0, Magenta 0, Yellow 0, Black +20

(more selective colours will be added later because I’m extra)

Hue/Saturation: This a neat adjustment where you can turn one colour into a completely different colour. For this gif, I chose only to adjust the colour blue with these settings:

Now you’re probably confused at why it looks so noisy but don’t worry! We’re going to fix that (this is where it gets kinda tedious. Feel free not to use the hue/sat adjustment if you want to make your gifs quickly. I wanted to make this tutorial super in depth hence why it’s about to get problematic)

Selective Colour (Again): You now have to create a 3rd selective colour layer and place it under the hue/sat layer before using these settings:

Magentas: Cyan +100, Magenta -100, Yellow +100, Black +79 Cyans: Cyan +100, Magenta +100, Yellow +5, Black 0 Blues: Cyan +100, Magenta -16, Yellow +100, Black -47

Your gif should now look like this:

Some noise will still remain and we’re going to fix that by erasing some of the adjustment layers! You may notice that the far right behind Phil looks messy so, with the erasure tool, erase that area on the hue/sat layer.

There is also some noise/unwanted colour on the lounge and Phil’s hair so I did the following:

I erased the area of the lounge on selective colour 1, 3 and hue/sat and I erased Phil’s hair on selective colour 1,2,3 and hue/saturation.

Now your layers should look something like this:

And that’s it for the colouring! Erasing the messy bits isn’t always necessary although in this particular case I had to. Protip: If you don’t want to make a colouring from scratch you could always use a pre-made psd!

5. Subtitles.

This gif doesn’t require subtitles but for the purpose of this tutorial, I’ll teach you how to do them since they’re an essential aspect of gifmaking! Every gifmaker has an individual preference on how to make their subtitles so this will be just an insight on how I do mine.

To make subs, select the text tool and create a textbox in the bottom part of the gif. I use the font Calibri (download it here if you’re a mac user) in bold italic size 18pt. If text takes up two lines use the settings shown below:

The main colour used for subtitles is pure white and the alternative/2nd speaker colour is yellow (I use the hex code #ffff00). 

Now that we have the text you may notice how it doesn’t stand out. To fix this, right click on the text layer, select Blending options... and use these settings for stroke and drop shadow:

Now your gif should look like this:

You may notice that your text layer lasts longer in the video timeline than the actual frames. To fix this, make sure you drag the text layer to the start of the timeline and adjust the grey things above the text layer (I’m stumped at the proper word for them) so that the video ends at the last frame (shown below):

6. Saving your Gif.

Now that we are done with making a gif, it’s time to save!

To do so I use the shortcut command + option + shift + s (for mac) or you can go File > Export > Save for Web (Legacy) (for CC) or File > Save for Web (other versions)

My #1 tip for saving a gif is to make sure it’s under 3mb! Tumblr only supports gifs under 3mb so as long as it’s 2.999mb or less you’re fine. Fortunately, our gif ends up at 2.721mb but if you ever do go over, I suggest deleting a few frames or cropping it to a smaller ratio.

And we’re done! You should now have a gif that looks like this:
