Okay I might just be reading too much into this. But while I was watching the episode *cough cough* procrastinating *cough cough I realised that they don't show how the Doctor and Ruby got there.
And I know that it's probably just meant to be vaguely like 'they just went for fun'.
BUT this is the third episode in a row where we haven't seen them arrive. And for 73 yards it was clearly a doctor who episode when it started but it immediately gets rid of the doctor. ( I know that for 73 yards and for dot and bubble it was because Ncuti Gatwa was filming other stuff but let me cook) In Dot and Bubble you could effectively be forgiven for assuming that it was a random Black Mirror episode or something similar until the Doctor turns up, and tbh if you were just flicking through channels and haven't been watching Doctor Who you could probably basically not know for much longer. In Rogue they are just there, except for the title screen (the same for dot and bubble) you could basically watch it as a Bridgerton episode until the Chuldur turn up.
(And there's whole other rant about how the Chuldur fits into the theory about this basically being a TV show within a TV show, I don't know the name for this theory)
But anyway these episodes are increasingly separated from the Doctor and Ruby as plot points particularly in the beginning of episodes. They are more and more like an excuse to tell the story or explore the topic that the writers want to explore. Which isn't totally different from the occasional episode of previous series, but this is a lot more in my memory at least from previous series. So it feels a lot like they are skimming over the more sci-fi doctor who elements. Which fits in in my mind to the idea that the 'One who waits' is a representation of story telling. I've seen theories that it's Ruby but she doesn't know it which makes sense, I think it would also make sense for it to be her parent(s) who left her, or alternatively just it's own thing all together. But it feels very like that bit where Amy is living a life and starts to realise it's all fake.
The narrowing down of these episodes into not showing them arriving, and at least in Rogue - I can't remember in the others - not showing them leaving the story, feels very different.
It feels more and more like story telling. They have covered fairy tales, Period pieces/Romance, Dystopia, War/SciFi, Musicals, Political Drama. They are also showing the doctor playing his role, something that we see companions doing often enough but we seldom see the doctor doing it.
In Space Babies he is scared of a new creature. In the Devil's Code he sings a song that makes little sense in the story, he doesn't question the road making noise. In Boom he's more himself but it's also the closes to his 'normal' environment. In 73 Yards they just fully remove him from the story, which I realise was done for filming requirements but would have been so interesting to see the doctor in a Political drama. In Dot and Bubble he plays the role of the outsider bringing information to those living under a Dystopia, how is he UNABLE to access the inside, sure he plays a role that's fairly similar to himself but Doctor Who is really Dystopian.
In Rogue he is becoming more and more his role, he is playing the role of a sort of Elizabeth Bennet style character, a strong romantic interest for the brooding man. Which is great, he makes fun of the genre, but he is hyper aware of the genre and still ends up in its pitfalls. He trusts a man so quickly he ends up handing over his sonic, he gets proposed to and basically immediately accepts. Now I am really hoping that Rogue gets to stay around I really liked him as a character, regardless of which theory of his identity if any are true. But the Doctors reaction to him is still a little out of character, he is feeling what he is SUPPOSED to feel and he is acting how he is SUPPOSED to act.
It just feels to me like an increasing number of these episodes are more and more story like and more and more separated from the more Doctor Who elements. And the lack of an introduction of how they get there, and the lack of them leaving in the TARDIS is so unusual to me and stands out to my brain so much.
It feels like they are removing elements that don't fit the genre. Anyway not sure if that makes any sense but I'm vibing with it.

Why do you personally ship, like, or appreciate Sonamy? What got you into Sonamy? What’s your favorite moment between the two?
Why do I ship Sonamy?
Okay, ima admit it..for someone who is a diehard sonamy fan, and thinks about AND ONLY about them literally every waking second, I can not think of ONE reason why I ship them to begin with….
“So you just ship them for basically no reason WHY?!” Pretty much 😅
And I’ve seen so many other people give their really good reasons and opinions on why they ship sonamy, and I full on agree with ‘em, but as for myself, I rack up nothing…and it’s my favourite ship too I mean come onnn TwT
I’ve also had my sister ask me this same question not long ago, and all I could do was just sit there and think “Damn your life almost revolves around these 2 HOW CAN YOU NOT HAVE AN ANSWER?!” I constantly beat myself up for this because I know I should 😭
And I mean, stuff like being the dynamic duo that they are, (whether in battle or not) their attitude and affection for each other evolving over time, respecting the other’s wants and needs, respecting boundaries (kinda the same thing tbh lol) , enjoying each others company, and just how the whole idea of sonamy has turned from what some people may see as “toxic” or “forced” (that might be the better word for it) from early 2000s media, to something more laid back and healthy like recent media because of all the character development over the years… etc, etc…are all fantastic reasons, and even reasons I would now apply as to why I love the ship even more…BUT they’re not the reasons I began to ship them in the first place, because these things I NEVER took into consideration when I starting doing so.
To put a long story short, I just saw pink and blue hedgies and was like, “ooooh I sense chemistry”
I feel like I could be going no where with all this. But all I’m tryna say is that I LIKE sonamy simply because of who they are…just a speedy blue boi and his hammer-wielding pink girlie. I APPRECIATE them solely because of their existence, especially in my life. They are like- one of the few things I ever look forward to these days. I SHIP them because unlike any other ship that has sonic or amy in it, sonamy just… “works” (I don’t know how to explain it but you know what I mean right??) And despite not being canon, (YET! 😏) they have got to be the closest ship to becoming canon (besides vectilla) ..unless I’m just biased :p
What got me into Sonamy?
Well, I did kinda just answer this in the previous question lol but I have to elaborate!
So yeah it started off with just seeing them 2 together and thought “I like where this is going hehe” tho tbh it never really went anywhere…because I was watching Sonic Boom at the time XD, the first piece of Sonic media I consumed since regaining an interest in the franchise. AND WE ARE NOT going back to like 2015 or 16 when I first discovered Sonic…idek what I did regarding shipping back then…I think I like shipped blaze and shadow or something OH LAWD-
Also to think that those short lived Sonamy moments in Boom didn’t even bother me in the slightest?! Present me is disgusted by such lack of interest or care! 😫
Okay okay I’m straying from the question, I’m sorry!!
There are a few things that got me hooked on Sonamy. First was definitely the tv series’. Boom, Prime and X all had adorable and wholesome moments that I could’ve almost died of cuteness from! Some of it was also hilarious too. In Sonic boom for instance, sonic and Amy would fight like a married couple lololol
Another thing (and this was the game changer) was the fanart and animatics. These became the addiction for me; one comic would lead to me reading another, which lead me to read another and so on. Or I’d find an animatic on YT and watch that and then begin scavenging trying to find more animatics to feed these cravings of sonamy I was beginning to gain all of a sudden.
And it just got worse and worse to the point I practically need a daily dose of Sonamy or I just might go feral
But I mean, how could I not?! YOU GUYS ARE SO GOSH DARN TALENTED AKJDJSJDND
Sadly now my food hath runneth dry over the months…so if any of u like come across anything sonamy pls don’t hesitate to tag me or send it to me pls I need it ajhshsjs
On top of all that, came the brainrot. My growing love for this ship and all the incredible media really sent me into a serious Sonamy delulu era. Literally almost ANYTHING can send me into deep thoughts about those 2, no kidding. I literally planned out in my head an entire story of them a couple days ago. Sometimes it’s a head canon or 2, other times just something extremely wholesome I’ll imagine them do and I’ll be deceased. Those rats live in my head rent free omg-
As I said, ANYTHING can trigger this brainrot; a song, a scene, a quote, a random object…you name it, I’ll come up with a Sonamy headcanon in relation to it.
I can’t also forget other sonic media that also boosted it like game cutscenes and IDW. Lately IDW has been CARRYING it for me with the little Sonamy moments like in the 900th adventure, #67 and other tidbits I’d find in former issues. The amount of frames I’ve seen of them hugging warms my heart waaa🥺🥺
Overall, this fandom has really impacted me and my love for Sonamy. (and sonic in general) all the things I’ve learnt and discovered have made me love them all the more because of it. My life has almost become an Sonamy aesthetic now…I am NOT joking when I tell you my PJs are Sonamy coded, and that was hardly intentional…🤣
Favourite Sonamy moment?
Arrghhh why just one?? Pretty much ANY moment involving those 2 cotton candy hedgies are bound to be my favourite!
Totally not saying this cuz I can’t pick a favourite *cough cough*
Take this, it’s the only Sonamy image I really have in my photo album rn.. (I should be in jail for this)
Tumblr media
Its one of my favs so it counts :)
Woowee that just about covers it! Now you know all about my weird and wonderweird love for my favourite ship :D 🩷💙

Did my yearly rewatch of Austin and Ally (all 4 seasons) and now I’m hyper fixated on it. So I decided to yap my head off on here so if you don’t care for anything A&A specific then just scroll and enjoy my other posts or edits of the stuff you do like 🫶🏾
Anywaysss, why I’m here.
AUSTIN AND ALLY’S PARENTS ARENT GOOD PARENTS!!
There i said it.
The only one I give slack is Ally’s mom as she mostly lives in Africa for work (I think?? I kinda black out the parents storyline since I’m here for any else but the parents) plus she wrote a book and when she was in Miami with Ally she spent all her time WITH HER DAUGHTER. She gave advice, presents, and even gave her an opportunity to sing at her event which was the event she overcame her greatest fear. She was polite and sweet to all the kids, put effort to talking to them, and getting to known them. We’ve seen her for maybe 2-3 episodes TOPS in the whole show but I never disliked her. Do I think she could have had a talk with her ex-husband and made him work at his own business?? Yes but they spilt for a reason and maybe she was just already mentally clocked out of anything dealing with him…cuz I know I am.
Her dad on the other hand I majorly dislike. He opened a business just to leave in the hands of his only daughter between ages 14-18 while she was already occupied with school and then her career as an artist. Plus she had friends and a young life that she wanted to live. Fortunately Ally was lucky her 3 friends stuck around all day in Sonic Boom helping out and hanging there instead of completely leaving Ally out since she was constantly busy with work.
He was also extremely cheap. Like being cheap with urself is fine but with ur daughter is a whole nother thing. Like when he gave her emergency funds for when she went to go on tour with Austin and she actually needed it as she was stranded in an unknown state. Just to find out that her dad only gave her $6 and an expired coupon. She once again was on her own and performed for her own well-being.
And he was also unsupportive of Ally sometimes. Like in the first episode when he said that she had one in a billion chance of making it into the music industry. (Austin’s dad said that as well, but we’ll get to him later) WHAT?! Is it so hard to be supportive of ur daughter. (He does support her in future episodes but for me it’s says a lot that the first impression we get of her father is that he’s unsupportive and only wants her to run the family store)
Speaking of no support and forcing their child to follow their footsteps…Mike and Mimi Moon.
They also came out the bat being unsupportive but seemed to care enough to not force Austin to work at the Mattress Kingdom. But they heavily offered the job every time something went slightly off course with Austin’s Career. (Him getting vocal nodes or when he chose loving Ally over his career that he’s been passionately working on for years)
Both of A&A’s parents were just letting their kids travel by themselves or go on tour by themselves. (It’s EXTREMELY common for parents to be MIA in kids tv but these rubbed me the wrong way) like we rarely saw Mr.Dawson at Ally’s performances Vice versa with Austin and his parents. It took Austin having to go the doctors or Ally moving away super far to accomplish her goals to get their attention.
I’m not surprised Auslly has such a strong unbreakable bond when they’re two only children with neglectful parents who are unsupportive of their dreams. They have no one to relate to and share the passion with beside each other. They both have best friends that have been in their lives YEARS before each other yet Auslly talk of each other as if that’s all they have is each other. (Side note: the way Auslly write their songs make me question how much stuff they truly went through together. Like “You can come to me” lyrics are so sweet and intimate but also so deep but it’s extremely evident that they are singing these lyrics to each other and only each other. Like they surpassed hurdles that Dez and Trish weren’t there to surpass with them. I wonder how much of Auslly we haven’t seen and will never see.)
Dez and Trish aren’t only children like Austin & Ally. Dez has a (older?) sister and Trish has a little brother. Both their families seemed extremely happy, loving, and outwardly supportive of them…I can’t say the same for Austin and Ally.
I could go on and on about this topic alone but I’ll spare your eyes from all the reading and stop yapping. But I’ll gladly talk about all my other thoughts about certain A&A things. Like the Auslly dynamic in a whole, why Austin’s passion for music is so strong, or even why Trish can’t keep a job.
But that’s a yapper-sation for another time.

Sonic Boom - S3E18
Chapter title: Co-op Mode
Summary: Nominatus returns, team-building ensues, and the author jams as many references into a single chapter as possible.

[Episode opens on our six heroes all gathered together in Tails’s house. Sonic and Amy are playing a fighting game, while the other four watch from various positions around the room.]
“You’re up against a champion of Ultimate Smackdown Siblings, Amy, so get ready to get smacked down!” Sonic cried, pressing buttons on his controller as quickly as he could.
“Psh. Please!” Amy scoffed, rolling her eyes. “You’re just button-mashing! It takes a master of strategy to win this game.” With that, she dealt Sonic’s character a particularly brutal combo, prompting a chorus of “Ooh”s from Tails and Sticks.
“Excellent move.” Shadow commented, currently leaning against the back of the couch. Sonic pouted in protest, somehow managing to direct his expression towards Shadow despite never allowing his eyes to leave the screen.
“Aw, come on, why’re you siding with Amy?” he protested, his voice pitching up into whining indignance. “I thought you said you were gonna be a neutral party!”
“I am,” Shadow maintained a tone somewhere between infuriatingly calm and effortlessly smug—somehow both an improvement from and yet also worse than the tone that had so easily aggravated Sonic back when they were rivals. “I’m just enjoying the entertainment, no matter whose side it comes from.”
Unfortunately for Sonic, he was just distracted enough by this opportunity for some of their usual banter that he didn’t see Amy’s Terminal Smack activating…and then was promptly forced to watch as his character got blown across the screen and disintegrated in a blast of light.
“No!” he wailed, sliding off the couch and onto his knees. “How could this be? Betrayed, by my very own friend!”
Shadow hid a far-too-fond smile at being called Sonic’s friend. Thankfully for his pride, the hedgehog was far too caught up in his own lamentations to notice…but both of them were soon interrupted when the TV screen began to crackle with static.
“Tails, what’s going on?” Amy leaned forward to eye the screen suspiciously, her hands opening and closing in preparation to summon her hammer.
Before the fox could speak up, the connection suddenly resolved, revealing a black-and-red demon with four horns and an arrow on his forehead.
“Nominatus?!” Tails cried. “I thought you were trapped in Eggman’s lab!”
The demon folded his arms, scowling out from the screen. “What, you assumed I’d just stay there once my episode feature ended? As if! That man was far too busy with his robots to pay attention to us, so it was almost insultingly easy to escape.”
Shadow had been watching the entire scene with increasing confusion, and took this opportunity to speak up. “Who is this, exactly?”
“Oh, he’s just some sort of evil computer guy!” Knuckles explained.
“Just—wh—” Nominatus sputtered. “I am not ‘some sort of evil computer guy’! I am Nominatus! Viral sensation! Trending on every platform where there are trends to be had!”
Sonic and Tails shared an extremely skeptical Look, and that was the final straw. “You think you can mock me, hm? Well then! I’ve faced you twice in your own realm, but no more fooling around!” the demon barked. “This time…you’re coming to me.”
And with that, he snapped his fingers, causing everyone to vanish into thin air.
The controller that Amy had been holding clattered to the floor as the television shut off abruptly, its screen cutting to black. The house was eerily silent, every hint of life within its walls having been rudely blinked out of existence.
…and then the energetic music of the introduction kicked in, utterly shattering the mood.
[The intro sequence goes off without a hitch…but this time, the characters are drawn in pixel art for their signature poses, with an 8-bit version of the theme tune to boot. Otherwise, the individual character introductions and team shot all stay the same.]
[Nominatus takes the villain position this time, tossing various ‘like button’ symbols  back and forth between his hands in a manner reminiscent of a certain ‘bad ending’ from a specific game released back in 1991.]
[The intro then continues on, before ending with the title of this week’s episode.]
In a blinding flash of light, the six heroes appeared in a white shopping mall filled with neon store signs and decorations everywhere. Above, an unmistakably vaporwave—inspired purple sky, complete with pink-yellow sun, was visible through the glass ceiling.
Each of them also carried their own personalized weapon, styled in silver with neon accents in their specific color. Amy had her usual hammer, while Sticks held a high-tech bow and arrow. Knuckles wore reinforcements for his hands (and a pair of angular blue sunglasses atop his head, for some reason), and Tails carried—of all the things—dual handguns. Sonic, of course, had a one-handed sword, which was currently attached to a white belt around his waist. Shadow, on the other hand, had an odd sort of pole with an octagon and the word “STOP” at one end strapped to his back, which he immediately removed and stared at with a distinct amount of bewilderment.
Just as the six of them had finished recovering from the shock of being in a totally new world, a projection of Nominatus appeared in front of them. “Welcome to the Mall of Metalloid Madness!” he announced, proudly spreading his arms wide. “This is the lobby for a new game I’ve invented called…the Labyrinth Zone!”
(Curiously, while no one else reacted to this, Sonic shivered for reasons even he couldn’t quite explain.)
“Once you all declare you’re ready, you’ll be dropped in teams of two into my carefully constructed labyrinth! It’s your job to find your way out without using all three of your lives, or else…” The demon smiled wickedly. “You’ll lose a lot more than just the game.”
“And what if we don’t want to?” Tails gave him a look so flat it could’ve had a job as a cardboard cutout. “What if we just find you and blast you until you put us back?”
Nominatus frowned. “Well, you wouldn’t want to disappoint my millions of followers, would you?”
Nobody said even a single word of agreement. The crickets remained silent in solidarity.
The demon sighed. “Fine, then, if you don’t do it I’ll never let you go and your island will fall prey to my inevitable conquering forces, blah blah blah, you know the rest.”
Sonic sighed unhappily. “Okay, guys, I guess we gotta do this.”
Tails shrugged. “At least I’ll probably get to blow some stuff up.”
“Nice positive thinking…I suppose?” Amy said hesitantly, but with a faintly resigned smile.
Nominatus perked up considerably at this, regaining his previous energy. “Well then, when you’re ready to proceed, press the button with your color.” Behind him, six pedestals rose from the ground, each with a lit-up button on top in blue, yellow, red, pink, orange, and black.
Before he could switch off his hologram, the team rushed directly through him, making him glitch out and yell after them, “Hey! Show some respect for the villain who’s holding you hostage, maybe?!”
Of course, none of them did this, instead opting to all hit their buttons (Knuckles even doing so with such force that the pedestal nearly crumpled). Instantly, they all vanished in a burst of light, teleporting into the referentially named Labyrinth Zone.
[We cut to Sonic and Amy, who are together in the maze.]
“Huh.” Sonic muttered, taking in his surroundings. They largely consisted of tall, black-and-grey gradient walls, contrasting with a blinding white sky.
“It seems like we really do get to work in pairs—that’s nice, at least!” Amy said brightly.
Sonic shot her a grin paired with a thumbs-up. “Sure is! You mind whacking me up high so I can get a good look at the layout, Ames?”
She pulled out her hammer, but then hesitated, squinting upwards. “Hold on a minute, let me try something first.” Abruptly, she hurled her hammer straight up…only for it to smash into a force field right above the walls and crash right back down.
“Ah.” Sonic stared upwards. “Thanks for saving me…a lot of broken bones, apparently.”
“I wouldn’t want to mess up your handsome face, now would I?” Amy asked, in a manner that was only half joking.
The hero abruptly choked on his spit and began coughing vigorously, before stumbling after Amy as she walked forward to enter the maze. “Hey hey hey, you’re not supposed to be the one who’s leaving me behind!”
The two of them rounded the corner and came face-to-face with a series of platforms and badniks (obviously just Nominatus-themed recolors of Eggman robots), an obstacle that was more than manageable. Sonic tore through the high route immediately, bouncing between badniks like the showboater he was. Meanwhile, Amy trawled the lower route at an admittedly slower speed, with the trade-off being that not a single robot escaped her wrath.
As she progressed onward, she found herself having to dodge several spike traps, before leaping onto a moving platform. Unlike her speedy friend, she preferred to handle these platforms with care, making sure she knew exactly when they’d be closest before using her hammer to launch herself into the air for a bit of extra leeway.
Amy jumped to another platform, this one moving up and down instead of side to side. Carefully, she focused on the feeling of it climbing beneath her feet, until—“Hyah!”—she slammed her hammer down just as it stopped its ascent.
Astoundingly, her hammer launched her into the air, complete with a spray of hearts where she had previously stood. So we get bonuses for perfect moves. Noted. she thought to herself, quite pleased, even as she stuck the landing.
The pink hedgehog scanned the sky for her friend, watching as he revved up a spindash and launched himself across a particularly massive gap ahead of her. She hesitated to say this too often, lest it become ego-stroking instead of a compliment, but his speed really was quite impressive—
—at which point she watched in horror as his jump fell just ever so slightly short—
—and he slammed into the edge of the other side, uncurling in shock just in time to plummet into the pit below.
Amy raced forward, heedless of the careful tactics she’d previously used as she skidded to a stop, throwing herself to her hands and knees by the void below. The darkness seemed endless, with no speck of blue to be found in sight.
“SONIC!!”
xxx
Tails and Knuckles blinked into existence next to each other, looking around themselves in surprise. “Hey Tails!” the echidna cheered, waving happily at his friend. “I’m glad we got put together.”
Tails beamed up at him. “I’m glad too! Between the two of us, we should be able to get through this place no problem!”
They fist-bumped lightly, Knuckles taking care not to break his friend’s hand in the process. “So, where do we start?”
Tails frowned, staring up at the sky. “I think I see a distortion up there…maybe there’s some kind of invisible ceiling keeping me from flying? Let me check…”
The fox flew carefully upwards to the top of the wall, reaching out a single finger to touch the force field above—
—and promptly exploded.
“Tails?!” Knuckles yelped, stumbling forward and staring upwards wildly, as though his friend would reappear at any moment.
As a matter of fact, Tails did reappear right next to Knuckles, with a sound straight out of a 16-bit game and several flashing invulnerability frames. A ring of repeating, glowing text surrounded his middle briefly, reading: TWO LIVES REMAINING.
“O-kay.” the engineer remarked. “No touching the weird barrier. Honestly, I probably should've used a wrench, but oh well. We get it now.”
Of course, the next room they entered then proved to contain platforms that would slowly rise towards the ceiling, before abruptly dropping back down once they had successfully crushed any occupants into the deadly force field.
Tails instantly facepalmed, but then narrowed his eyes at the puzzle, thinking carefully. “So, we’re going to need to time this really carefully, Knuckles. It’ll be tough to get over these platforms, and we only have five lives between us. I know I’ve got my tails, but are you gonna be okay moving that quickly while also staying low so you don’t get zapped?”
“I could also stay even lower,” Knuckles remarked glibly, without any further elaboration.
“…what do you mean by that?” Tails tilted his head, his brow furrowed.
“What if we just went under the platforms?”
Tails turned to look back at the puzzle, and immediately facepalmed again.
xxx
Shadow and Sticks appeared together, in the third and final starting area of the labyrinth.
“Fancy seeing you here.” Shadow remarked, half to himself.
“Huh?” Sticks blinked at him, clearly confused.
“It’s just a joke—obviously you were brought here with the rest of us and are now visibly partnered with me, so a comment that implies surprise is meant to be sarcastic.”
Sticks stared for another moment…and then actually snickered. “You’ve got a good sense of humor,” they said casually, as though they were discussing the weather instead of dropping a massive compliment bomb directly on Shadow’s head.
The android’s eyes immediately dropped to the floor. “Ah. Thank you.”
“Just telling the truth,” Sticks said, taking a couple of steps forward before glancing over their shoulder to see Shadow properly. “I don’t get why people bother with saying anything but what they mean.”
“I know why they do it, but I don’t necessarily enjoy it.” Shadow explained sympathetically.
While he had been speaking, Sticks had already peered suspiciously around the nearest corner to see what Nominatus had in store for them. Abruptly, their eyes widened, and they shot back around the corner as quickly as possible. “Shadow?” they said, looking over at him warily. “Can ya use this—” they held out a leather hair tie—“and tie up your quills real quick?”
“Certainly.” Shadow began to put up his quills without complaint. “I don’t doubt your judgment, but might I ask why?”
Sticks frowned. “I think you probably need to see for yourself, but I just have one other question first, while we wait for their backs to turn around again.” One of their ears twitched, signaling that they were listening to something. Indeed, when Shadow focused on his own auditory receptors, he could hear the slow, methodical pace of feet drawing nearer. Metal feet, to be exact.
“What is it?”
“The parts and schematics used to make you, they’re the only ones that exist in the world, right?” They rubbed their upper arm uncomfortably.
Shadow frowned, baring his fangs ever so slightly.“Yes. I have the only set of blueprints, and spares for almost everything. It’s enough to do patch jobs, but not enough to build another android.
“Sticks…what exactly did you see?”
“Something that shouldn’t exist.” they muttered, their ears flicking back briefly against their head. They gestured to the corner, letting Shadow know that it was safe to take a look.
He walked up to the edge of the wall, looked around it, and saw…himself.
Copies of him.
Walking right there.
In the hallway.
xxx
Amy still knelt at the edge of the pit, staring down into the darkness. By now, she had begun to scan the interior of the abyss, searching for any type of foothold that could be used to scale its sheer sides. So far, she wasn’t having much luck, but if there was one thing that she made sure everyone knew about Amy Rose, it was that she did not quit.
Suddenly, she was startled out of her intense focus by a chiptuned sound behind her.
She whirled around, lunging forward and swinging her hammer as hard as she could at the threat—
—and blinked, wide-eyed, as it passed right through Sonic’s flashing body and the “TWO LIVES” message.
“Huh. Respawn invincibility, that’s helpful.” he remarked, before shaking his head (and rustling his quills in the process) as he came back to reality.
“Hey, wait, what was that for?! You were gonna hit me!” Sonic complained.
Amy huffed unhappily. “I thought you were down in that pit! I was just about to climb down there and look for you!”
Sonic grimaced. “Yeah, no, probably don’t do that one. I…don’t think it has a bottom.”
“…what.”
“I didn’t hit anything, I was just falling, and then all of a sudden I reappeared back here.” he explained, making Amy glance back over her shoulder and shudder.
“Alright, so how are we getting over it?” she asked.
Sonic shrugged. “I dunno, maybe you could just hit me over or something?”
“…how would I get over after doing that?” Amy gave him a decidedly unimpressed look.
“Ah. Yeah. Right.” He rubbed the back of his head sheepishly. “I could run along the wall and take you with me?”
Amy smiled confidently at him. “Now that sounds like a plan.”
“Alright, lemme just—” Sonic stretched out both of his arms, did a couple of quick side-lunges, and then shot her one of his trademark grins. “You ready?”
“Of course I am.” she said proudly, tossing her quills.
Moments later, a blue blur had grabbed her and was already racing across the wall, moving so quickly that gravity didn’t even have time to consider dragging them both down into the pit. (Gravity might have been tempted to post an incensed rant on the internet about this lack of respect for established institutions, namely laws of physics, were it capable of doing so.) Somehow, they even managed to tear back down the wall on the other side, before skidding to a stop safely on the other side of the pit.
It was at this point when Amy noticed that Sonic had taken her hand to pull her across. Coincidentally, it was also exactly this moment when Sonic realized just what he had done. He immediately pulled his hand away with such speed it’d have given her friction burn had she not worn gloves, and refused to meet her eyes.
Amy, meanwhile, smiled quietly to herself. She understood.
“So, how about we finally get out of this maze?” she asked, granting him freedom from his own internal embarrassment.
Sonic perked up immediately, his energy fully restored. “I thought you’d never ask!”

“Alright, Knuckles, are you ready for this?” Tails asked, once again. “We’ll need to move quickly under these platforms if we want to make it before they drop back down.”
“I was born ready!” the echidna insisted, cracking his knuckles and beaming confidently. “Literally—echidnas are meant to dig in enclosed spaces anyway, that’s why I’ve got these bad boys!” He dropped into a boxing stance easily, showing off the newly-reinforced spikes on his hands.
Tails smiled, shaking his head and running a hand through his bangs. “Okay, just promise me you won’t try to dig through solid steel.”
“Pinkie promise!” Knuckles replied cheerfully, holding out his hand with little finger stuck out and all.
The fox snickered, but held out his own hand and linked their fingers, as requested. Then, he turned to the platforms, flicking his tails a few times in an effort to warm them up somewhat. “All set?” he asked his friend.
Knuckles shifted into a stance that was even closer to the ground, letting more of his innate instincts take over as he prepared to power through the obstacle ahead. He flexed his fingers, curling them into fists once more, before giving Tails a thumbs-up.
Tails gave him one back (along with a smile that looked astonishingly like Sonic’s) and then, sucking in the biggest breath he could, yelled “GO!”
Immediately, Tails tore off, blasting forward and around obstacles with a speed cultivated from following his older brother around for years on end. Knuckles was no slouch himself, however, able to squeeze into unexpected places while the platforms were low from his lifetime of practice digging tunnels. His sense of direction was second to none as well, helping him avoid obstacles even when they didn’t register consciously in his mind.
He did almost try to dig once or twice in an effort to stay down, especially as the ceiling began to rise, but he thankfully remembered his promise to Tails each time and didn’t do more than push off a little awkwardly from the ground as a result. Meanwhile, the engineer had pulled out his dual pistols and was firing off shots at the platform mechanics ahead, trying to at least get one or two of them to slow down without actually compromising his own speed.
However, as they pushed themselves further along the course, the tangle of uneven machinery posed more of a threat than they would have liked. Tails struggled to maintain his top speed while dodging pistons, and Knuckles nearly got his spikes snagged on wiring a number of times.
Vaguely, out of the corner of his eye, the echidna registered some of the pistons beginning to extend to their fullest heights, even as the end was in sight, and so—
—launching himself off the ground with all fours, he hurled himself towards Tails and curled around the fox with just enough momentum to get them clear of the platforms right before they crashed down.
After a moment of silence, Knuckles uncurled, to reveal a perfectly unharmed and extremely delighted Tails. “We made it!” he cheered, holding up a hand that Knuckles had no hesitation in high-fiving right back.
[Camera gives a close shot of the high-five, before cutting to the next and final group.]

Shadow felt a prickle of cold run down his back and lodge itself right in what passed, in him, for a stomach. “Those…what are they?”
Sticks jumped on his shoulders, making him nearly overbalance and grip the corner of the wall in an effort to prevent them both attracting the attention of the things. “Fakes,” she said simply, distracting him from any ire he might have felt towards her. “They’re walking weirdly, nothing like how you do. They don’t even seem to know how to use those skates they’re wearing.”
Shadow tensed further. “They shouldn’t know much of anything, since they’re not made by the Ancients or the doctor.”
“Do ya wanna smash ‘em?” Sticks asked eagerly, but seemed to hesitate when he couldn’t think of a reply. Sure, he didn’t want them to continue existing, but it felt a little strange to smash things with his face on them…especially so soon after this little group had convinced him that maybe his face didn’t deserve to be smashed.
She hopped off his shoulders, pulling him back behind the wall. “…do you want me to smash ‘em while you wait here?”
Shadow shook his head. “I don’t want you to get hurt. I just don’t really like the thought of hitting a bunch of weird robots that someone’s made to look like me…” he muttered.
“Well, how about this? You go out there and Chaos Blast them, then just hang back and cover me!” Sticks offered, grinning in a distinctly feral manner and slamming one fist into an open palm.
“You’re okay with beating up a bunch of other Shadows?” he asked, frowning.
Sticks shook her head hard. “No, I’m okay with beating up a bunch of robot imposters trying to impersonate my friend! This is my dream!!”
[Camera shows a close-up shot of the lower part of Shadow’s face, as well as the top of his chest. His mouth has a small, yet very genuine smile.]
“Well then, let’s not waste any time, shall we?” he said, activating his skates and blazing around the corner.
“CHAOS BLAST!”

Not long after their scrape with the bottomless pit, Amy and Sonic found their way into the center of the labyrinth. Before either of them even had a chance to consider any of the other pathways, Knuckles and Tails came running out of one of them, seemingly in high spirits. It only took the two teams a second to register the sight in front of them, before the four were practically crashing into each other with excitement at finally being reunited.
They didn’t have long to wait before Shadow and Sticks arrived, moving at a much slower pace. Shadow’s legs, skates, and gloves were smeared with a strange black substance, but he was otherwise clean—in stark contrast to Sticks, who looked like they’d just been through about fifteen oil changes. There was hardly a body part that wasn’t splattered with the stuff, not to mention their bow and quiver, which were practically dripping.
“Are you alright?!” Amy cried, rushing over immediately and pulling out a spare glove in an effort to help Sticks tidy up somewhat. “Oh my goodness, what happened to you?”
Sticks, meanwhile, folded their arms triumphantly. “We fought a bunch of fake Shadows! I got most of them, but Shadow hit a lot with his Chaos Blast powers.”
Shadow sighed, nearly going to rub his face but then looking at his glove and reconsidering. “It certainly was an experience.” he muttered.
Sonic made a move towards him, but just as he did, the ground began to shake. The six heroes wobbled briefly, stabilizing each other just in time to register that the labyrinth’s center circle they stood on was actually a platform—one that was slowly rising towards the final level. But after the strangeness of the labyrinth, there was no real way for any of them to guess what might be coming next.
The platform delivered them into a dark room, marked only by a dome of red cross-hatching that gave off a faint glow. Automatically, they all grouped into a tight circle, watching each others’ backs carefully.
With a flash of light, the dome lit up around them, showing hundreds of thousands of message bubbles winking in and out of existence each moment.
ohc nominatus streams never disappoint
stacicoot just subscribed!
GET THIS BREAD!!!
I mean, it’s not like we wanted to watch this, but nobody else could be bothered to spend any time with us…
Suddenly, Nominatus dropped from the ceiling, landing in a surprisingly striking pose as his cape billowed behind him. “Welcome…” he bellowed, “to the final boss!
“You’ve done very well so far, and I honestly do appreciate it.” he continued, striding towards the team. “It’s been a while since I had a big event, and I needed something like this to boost my ratings in the algorithm. You all definitely delivered! I haven’t had this many viewers in a while! But I’m afraid…these people certainly aren’t here to watch you win.”
He smirked. “They’re here for me. So while you may have survived this far—
“—I suspect you’re about to break that streak.”
“Oh, no way!”
Sticks pushed to the front of the group, her teeth bared. “I just hit my personal best in ‘number of enemies defeated in solo combat’, and I plan on living to beat that another day, gamer boy!”
All five of her teammates burst into various degrees of laughter behind her at the name she’d chosen for Nominatus. Bolstered by their support, she continued: “Nobody else might want us to win, but we want us to win! And guess what? That’s enough for me!”
Around her, the others burst into cheers, drawing their cool cyber-weapons. And then, they charged.
[For the rest of the fight scene, the animation kicks up a notch. It starts with a fast circle pan around Nominatus as all of the heroes attack him in their own unique ways, from a whack that only a quick forearm block kept from hitting him in the face (complete with comical CLANG sound effect) from Shadow to an earth-shattering ground slam delivered by Knuckles.
However, the camera then reveals that this has done absolutely nothing to significantly damage the digital demon…
Then, the team begins to work together in similar ways to what they did during their time in the labyrinth, and nearly every strike hits perfectly. Nominatus hits back with lasers and harsh swipes with his claws, now finding himself struggling to even the odds. It becomes clear quickly that teamwork, as it often proves to be, is what helps the heroes succeed in their battles.]
When he saw an opportunity left by a successful hit from Shadow and Sticks, Sonic raised his sword, dropping into a fighting stance. He shot a wink over at Amy, smirking. “Hey Ames, you ready to see my Terminal Smack?”
The hero revved up his legs, faster and faster, until they formed a figure eight—and then he shot forward, leaping into the air, and slashed his sword downwards.
Nominatus went flying backwards, skidding across the ground. As he came to a stop, the various messages began to flicker out, one by one, becoming more sparse as time ticked by.
The demon struggled to push himself upright, his arms shaking. “No…no! Wait, chat! Chat, I can still win this! No!!”
Sonic grinned, pointing his sword down at Nominatus. “You want us to keep kicking your butt on livestream? Or are ya gonna let us go?”
“Ugh…fine!” the demon snapped. “Just go! I’ll find other ways to diversify my content!”
And with that, the world broke down around them, becoming more and more pixelated…
…until then they were back in Tails’s living room.
“Aw yeah!” Sonic cheered. “Did you guys see me with that sword? I was all like hah—hyah—” he continued, mimicking his movements from the fight moments prior.
“Yes, Sonic, we were all there. We definitely saw it.” Shadow replied, voice drier than a Meh Burger bun.
All of a sudden, the TV blinked on behind them, their game of Ultimate Sibling Smackdown still loaded. “Ready for another round?” the announcer asked, cycling through one of its preset voice lines.
All six heroes either screamed, jumped, or did some combination of the two. Tails even ended up in Knuckles’s arms.
“Uh…maybe we should hang out on the beach for a while. Far away from any video games.” the fox suggested, after an awkwardly silent moment.
The rest of the team, still in varying states of sheepishness, wholeheartedly agreed with that particular statement.

✨️Made an OC for each one of my top 3 favorite Sonic TV Shows!!✨️💫
Tumblr media
Finished them :D!! And omgg I adore all their final designs!! Also made them little bios so here:
Briar the Chinchilla!! (AoStH)
Tumblr media
Briar is wild and a thrill seeker! She lives life on the edge and is constantly on the search for a good time! While she would never ever side with Robotnik, she has taken a strange interest in his badnik henchmen (perhaps due to their chaotic fun nature). She adores hard rock music and throwing herself into danger!
Soleil the Seedrian!! (Sonic X)
Tumblr media
Soleil is very curious and easy going. When faced with an enemy they normally shrug it off nonchalantly. However, they know to be cautious when real danger is thrown her way. She enjoys being out in nature and trying new things!
Marco the Parrot!! (Sonic Boom!)
Tumblr media
Marco has a bit of a temper and is often times grumpy. He's a loner and prefers to be by himself (which is rather difficult to achieve given Boom's usual shenanigans)! Despite his grouchy attitude, he is surprisingly a great friend to have around, if he let's you get close that is. He likes quiet beach strolls and warm sunny days.

Sonine Prime ... Part 1
Hi, everyone and welcome to Sonine Prime! The part of the show when I come out and talk about Sonine (and a bit of Sontails) in Sonic Prime!
And now, a bit of background before I beginㅤ
I have only recently become a Sonic fan. I played a few games when I was younger, watched the first 3 tv shows all the way through, watched a bit of the Sonic Boom tv show, and I bought Sonic Frontiers at release. But, strangely enough, it was Sonic Prime that got me obsessed with this franchise.
And it was, frankly, more queer than I had expected it to be.
Part 2 >>
(Essay/thoughts/analysis under the cut)
Now, right off the bat
S1 Episode 1.
Now, I know this is supposed to mostly be about Sonine, but I would be remiss if I didn't mention the little scene towards the beginning where Sonic has a little moment with each of his friends. For the record, I think that Sonic Prime leaves it open so that you can interpret Sonic as having crushes on/having some sort of not strictly friends deal with most of his friends (in this case, I am at least referring to Knuckles, Tails, and Amy) and his rival (Shadow).
Sonic's interaction with Tails is Tails catching him to save him, and Sonic being thankful, Sonic gives Rouge a wave and thanks her when she saves him (to which she says "Don't mention it. Literally"), Sonic asks Knuckles if he's doing okay and Knuckles says "The only thing that flusters me is when you're late, Sonic" (interesting choice of words there), and then of course Amy asking where Sonic's been, and Sonic leaning over the robot to say he got sidetracked.
Now, this is an image of that scene with Amy, one of many I have seen people show off as S0namy proof. And I will say now that this look will come back later.
Tumblr media
Oh, and that this looks just a little familiar, doesn't it?
Tumblr media
Huh no way it's the
It's the S2 scene where Sonic is talking to Nine through the Eggforcer and needs to be talked out of saving him asap
Now, back to the episode.
While this doesn't mean much yet, just before we get to Sonic shattering the Paradox Prism, he gets to fight with Tails again, who warns him to be careful while Sonic brushes him off. Then it switches to Amy, who says "if eggman wants it, it can't be good".
Tally 1 for the "Tails and Amy get the last word" category. Why does this category matter? Well...just the sheer amount of times it pairs them up specifically for parallel reasons. Only you can decide what it means for you.
Then, after our very first (of many) Sonic shattering the prism scenes, we watch Sonic float unconsciously through the space in between the shatterspaces, as apparitions of his friends and Robotnik speak. Everyone gives their oneliners that *will* come up again, and then before Sonic enters New Yolk, three people speak a second time.
These three are Amy, Tails, and Eggman.
And out of the three, only Amy and Tails' apparitions are actually shown onscreen when they get a second word in (with phrases we don't see later with the reveal of Ghost Hill's existence).
Amy: Hey. I may be the one who can bring everyone together, but there's only one hedgehog they'll follow into battle.
Tails: Heh heh. I don't need an army when I've got a friend like you Sonic.
And not only do they get a second word, but a third word!
Amy: We'd follow you anywhere, Sonic!
Tails: Nothing could break our friendship, Sonic.
Tails and Amy get the last word: II
And while this would be a topic for a different essay that would go into parallels like these, I just also think it very interesting that Amy's lines are more focused on Amy assuring Sonic how everyone feels about him, while all of Tails apparition's lines (all 3) are about his bond with Sonic.
"As long as I'm around, you'll always have a wingman"
...
"Nothing could break our friendship, Sonic"
"I don't need an army when I've got a friend like you, Sonic"
...
Barely 4 minutes into episode 1. Food for thought.
Now we enter the shatterverse.
Sonic spends a good disoriented minute getting knocked around in New Yolk, and the first names he calls are Tails, then Amy
"Tails? Amy? ...Heck I'll even take Knuckles at this point."
Tails and Amy being singled out specifically: III
After a short moment of trying to figure out where he is, and also finding Big and Froggy, Sonic ends up running from the Eggforcers, after which he realizes that New Yolk *is* Green Hill.
"The loop de loop. Hedgehog's Pass! And that should be Tails's Lab! Oh, Tails...what happened?"
Aside from when he found Big + Froggy, and when he mentioned Tails, Amy, and Knuckles, Sonic has not yet moved to figure out what happened to his friends. But he *does* specifically mention *only* Tails in his "What happened here" set of lines, which leads us to a flashback.
Now, again, I'm going to try not to make this too much about other ships when I'm making this for Sonine, but I think this bit of the flashback is important. And I think the writers' choice specifically to have Eggman say something nasty about Tails and only Tails to get Sonic riled up.
"You can mess with me Eggman, but nobody messes with my best friend!"
Most of this fight is spent with Sonic fighting the Eggcrusher in his normal "Fight Eggman and throw insults back and forth attitude". Almost no matter what Eggman says to him, it does not get Sonic riled up to attack him in the way he is baiting him to.
The writers could have chose any friend of Sonic’s or multiple for Eggman to insult, leading Sonic to become riled up to destroy him and fall right into that trap. Sonic's line very easily here could have been "You can mess with me, Eggman, but nobody messes with my friends!" And this would not at all seem abnormal, because this is Sonic, and because earlier in the episode Sonic monologued about how home is where your friends are.
And yet...it's Eggman calling Tails an ugly two tailed mutant fox that gets Sonic to block out everything else to zero in on hitting Eggman hard for what he'd said. Not "nobody messes with my friends" but "nobody messes with my best friend"
This show is already emphasizing how Big, Froggy, Amy, Tails, Rouge, and Knuckles are all his friends, but Tails is special, because they're best friends, huh?
And not to mention the parallel's between Tails' "Sonic, noooo!" before Sonic pounds the Eggcrusher inro the ground, creating a shockwave, and his "Sonic, wait!" before Sonic shatters the Paradox Prism, also causing a shockwave. ....Or the fact that Tails gets a lot of the spotlight in this flashback, from the audience getting to see a lot of his thoughts/what he was doing while Sonic was fighting the Eggcrusher, or Sonic coming into the lab to apologize and try to make up with him, or–
But I digress.
Post flashback, Sonic has the full realization that New Yolk is Green Hill, and remembers the paradox prism. His first thought after this?
"I gotta find Tails"
Now, you may be thinking. "Tumblr user hadesknockedupintheunderworld. That doesn't mean anything. Maybe he's looking for Tails just to make sure he's okay, or because he trusts that Tails can help him figure out/understand exactly what's happening here"
And to that I say that I am the last person who's going to argue that this means Sonic doesn’t care about his other friends or that this is inherently romantic. I just think it's interesting the focus that Tails is getting in episode 1 alone, and that after remembering more of what happened his first thought is to search for him specifically. And he doesn’t stray from this path either! He makes mention of his goal to find Tails before fighting Dr. Babble for the first time, and again when he decides to escape Babble in part because of his refusal to fight kids and in other part to get back on track to finding Tails.
Anddd about 22 minutes in, just after following him through the underground transport and believing him to be Tails, we meet the second star of today's show!!
Tumblr media
Wow Sonic really does keep making that face doesn't he?
Now, at first I was going to break this first meeting down but there was just *much* too much to comment on in a way that would do justice to the scene itself. As such, I'm planning to insert a video of the scene and break it down from there.
But, tumblr has a limit of 1 video per post, so
I will see you all in part 2! Sorry we haven't gotten much into the Sonine itself yet but by god we'll be moving on from crumbs to meals in a second.

Sonic Headcanon Sunday #1: Sonic the Hedgehog
Now back to Sonic Headcanon Sunday (since I ended up forgetting last week. ADD go BrRrRr) where I share my top 10 headcanons I have about the Sonic franchise. More specifically right now, the characters, starting with the main guy himself, Sonic!
1. He has ADHD. I think some of his behavior and actions throughout the franchise (especially in Boom and Prime) can speak for themselves why I’m a firm believer in this one. Lol. He’s also known to stim quite a bit especially when he’s extremely excited or anxious. Some of his special interests/ hyperfixations include adventuring, nature, video games, comics, and shoes!
2. Because of the events of the Sonic Underground tv show, I like to imagine that he has experience with singing and being in a band, but he’s gotten very modest about this. He also owns two guitars. One acoustic, one electric.
3. Sonic is multilingual. While he does know a little bit of Spanish and some Russian (which he picked up on from Shadow), he’s more fluent in Japanese, Arabic, and ASL (American Sign Language).
4. Now, this is mainly for the Boom universe; The others can’t watch scary movies with Sonic anymore because they can’t go through one movie without bursting into laughing fits at his hilarious commentaries/jokes. Basically something like this happens:
5. Back to the topic of Sonic having ADHD stims and in reference to the headcanon of Mobians having animalistic behavior, the blue blur tends to squeak and chirp a bit more than the other hedgehog characters because he sometimes tends to do it as a vocal stim.
6. His bedroom in Tails’ workshop, while not a complete pigsty, is a bit cluttered with some stuff he’s collected from his adventures he’s had (such as his hoverboard from Sonic Riders, Chip’s Gaia bracelet from Sonic Unleashed, and the SOAP shoes from Sonic Adventure).
7. Sonic is nearsighted, but prefers to wear contacts instead of his glasses because
A) He’s a little embarrassed about it
B) Even if didn’t mind wearing glasses in front of other people, they’d most likely break from the g-force when he runs.
However, he does wear them sometimes at home when he’s having a lazy day and nobody’s around (Tails is the only exception).
8. Sonic doesn’t exactly enjoy when people call him a “little guy”. Big is the only one he’ll make an exception with because of a little inside thing between the two.
Tumblr media
9. If Sonic were human, he’d be Egyptian-Japanese. I’m sorry but I refuse to believe that that crappy “official” human design for him is canon. (If you know, you know)
10. On a few occasions, he brings out the Gaia bracelet from Chip and takes it with him through town and just talks to it a bit, telling it about some of the adventures that he wished Chip could’ve been there to see. He knows the light gaia couldn’t be able to actually respond to him, but he’s still gets the sense that he’s there with him, listening.
So that’s it for the headcanons this week. Next up: Miles “Tails” Prower!

No thoughts.Just thinking about introvert y/n coming from her stressful job to home just to see her himbo flatmates-Naruto and Kiba- being high on orange juice and sharing their 'pain'.Or them bursting into her room at 3a.m. because they are fighting if hen came first or egg and wanted to know her opinion.Or them fighting over who is y/n's favourite(and y/n telling them they both suck equally:))
oh my fucking god, having naruto and kiba as roommates while you're an introvert would be so goddamn chaotic!! 😭
Like, you'd be cuddled up in your bed at two in the morning, just chilling in your room and watching a movie, and then boom! - Naruto's barging in with full force without any sort of warning whatsoever, flicking the lightswitch on as he goes.
Kiba, grumbling something under his breath and scowling like he usually does, of course follows right after the blonde idiot.
They'd be arguing about something stupid; like who the best character from Sonic is, or some goofy shit like that. Exactly like those two dudes in the fucking tiktok video, shouting the: "She's the wicked witch of the east, bro!", Naruto and Kiba would be going:
"No fucking way that Knuckles is better than Sonic!"
"And why the fuck not?"
'"Cause Sonic is the main character, you absolute moron!"
"So?!"
"What do you mean; so?!"
And you'd just be stuck in it, while they're standing in the middle of your room; Naruto pointing a finger at Kiba as he's getting all up into his face. And then Kiba's losing his cool in a second; going full on Tsume on Naruto's ass.
All of that while you're over there, clutching your fluffy blanket close to your chest, and they're shouting at you to pick a side whilst they're bickering, even though you'd still have zero clue about what the argument is even about.
You'd also have to clean after them all the time - especially the kitchen after Naruto would be done with it, 'cause that man is a slob. And you'd have zero privacy, too. They'd literally barge into the bathroom while you'd be showering or whatever, and act like it was your fault for occupying the room in the first place.
I just know they'd sneak into your room while you'd be gone, and go through your make up or closet; prodding and touching everything like curious toddlers.
They'd lie if you'd question them about it, of course. Sneak glances at each other while trying to tame their shit-eating grins, too.
And dinner would always be so wild; especially if you'd all feel too lazy and would eat it in front of the TV, instead of at the kitchen table.
The fight for the remote would be constant and ruthless; especially when you'd have to pick a movie, because Kiba likes action ones that involve fast cars and crime, and Naruto prefers superhero movies.
They'd shrink your clothes by accident because they don't know how to wash them properly. Kiba would always make the food too spicy, and Naruto would burn it to a crisp every single time.
You'd have to take care of them whenever they'd get sick. They'd be oddly persistent with chilling inside your room during it, even though it makes you irked because you prefer to be alone in your space.
They'd both be flirty as hell, and equally as annoying.
Naruto would always leave the door of your room open, running down the hall whilst you'd grumble about it. Kiba would keep turning your light on and off; just a broad hand visible on the lightswitch, before he'd be making a run for it, too.
They'd be making shrieking sexual noises right outside your door whenever a childhood friend of yours from your hometown would call. Kiba's roaring moans of: "Fuck, y/n! Yeah, just like that, baby. Yes, yes, yes!" would make you facepalm, while Naruto would be banging his fist against the door, screaming with laughter.
On the other hand, they would act all buff and abrasive if you'd even dare bring a guy over by any chance, and act all sweet and sugary around you as soon as he'd leave; probably running for the hills from how mean their stares were. After all, they're super protective over you, despite teasing you constantly. Like two guard dogs watching over each side of you, they certainly aren't ones to mess with.
You'd have a whole collection of their t-shirts to sleep in. Constant flicks on the tip of your nose would be a regular thing with them, rough hands ruffling your hair, hugs from behind, you bouncing on the tips of your toes, because they're holding an object you want above their head just high enough that you can't reach it - all of that.
They'd also ask for constant backrubs, and as for your own - they'd always have your back, as long as you'd continue to help them with their schoolwork.
But all in all, living with Kiba and Naruto would be super fun and chaotic, but in the best way possible. It's like you're living with literal sunshine; sunshine that's embodied two different men, who are just so, so gorgeous and sweet.
Sigh, I wanna write a story on this prompt now... Curse you, anon!
All jokes aside though, thank you for sending this. The himbo energy is immaculate. 🥰

If you don't mind me asking,
What's art styles ended up influencing .. Well your art style?
Oh, this is a fun question, thank you for asking!
Hmm, I think it's a little hard to say since I've been drawing since I was basically a toddler, lol. Every little thing I've ever enjoyed has had some sort of influence. I'll try to go through the timeline though.
When I was a little kid, I had a special interest in zoology (still do! but it's not as obvious as it was back then.) I used to wake up first in the house specifically so I could turn on the tv to the animal planet channel and just watch documentaries all morning, and I carried a giant animal kingdom encyclopedia with me to school every day to just flip to random pages and read whatever popped up. During this time of my life, I pretty much exclusively drew animals- particularly elephants, canines, and horses. I had no interest in people.
I had no real interest in stylization at this point- obviously as a little kid I was never able to achieve perfect anatomy or anything like that, but I was more interested in making my animals look real than cartoonish- which meant I was never really influenced by the disney movies I was watching, since they stylized their animals so heavily.
I remember the dreamworks movie Spirit held my attention for a very long time, and I think it may particularly have been that way because the horses looked and acted more real than they did in disney movies. They were still stylized of course, it was a cartoon after all, but it wasn't to any extremes. I still find myself wanting to mimic that in my animals now; cartoon, but not cartoon-y.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think these two gifs help illustrate my point lol.
After this exclusive animal obsession (followed by dinosaurs, and then dragons) I got really into Sonic the Hedgehog around age 11. Drew sonic characters, and made my own OCs for it, for basically the entirety of middle school. I've pointed out in the past that it seems the way I draw hands was heavily influenced by this phase
Tumblr media
Very round, almost rubbery, where the ends of the fingers tend to flare out a little bigger than they are at the knuckles.
Then after sonic, I got into my first anime, Soul Eater, and this is really where I first started venturing into drawing people and more realistic human anatomy.
Tumblr media
Interestingly, this artstyle seemed to also do the Sonic Hands thing, lol
After this I had a big anime phase, as well as just a general "I want to study actual human anatomy" phase during early high school. I was following a lot of skeletal/muscular system tutorials during this time.
Following that I started getting back into american media, in particular I remember invader zim, steven universe, and tmnt 2k12. I'm not sure I can really tell myself where the steven u artstyle is present in my own, but I've had people tell me they can tell I was into it at some point after saying so.
Tumblr media
Then there was the Rubberhose Boom of 2017, with the release of Cuphead and BATIM very close together; I had a big hyperfixation on that artstyle specifically at that time, and I feel like I may owe some of the loose-ness in my artstyle to that.
Tumblr media
Then, I suppose, we come to Rise of the TMNT. That show ended up being a major inspiration to me, and I think I owe a LOT of recent artistic growth to it. Rise pushed me out of my comfort zone big time. I always liked doing dynamic poses, but rise encouraged me to push things further, and I started drawing more backgrounds and making bolder color choices because of it as well.
Tumblr media
I think my artstyle became just a bit more angular after drawing so much fanart as well.
And I suppose that's where I'm now at presently! Aside from media, I also can't say I'd be where I am artistically today without the influence and support of my many friends. :) I owe a lot of things about my artstyle, particularly specific things like my lineart, to compliments my friends paid me which made me pay more attention to the things I was doing accidentally that they happened to like, then making it purposeful and more refined as a result.

some insight into the sonic boom tv series and why some certain characters werent used as much as people wouldve liked. previously, i made a post saying that only a handful of characters were approved by sega to exist in the boomverse, but judging from this interview, that wasnt entirely accurate - it was more so that the writers knew that already existing characters in the main canon were so protected that they decided it wouldve been too much of a hassle to get clearance for more than a couple of them (also i just wanna highlight that this confirms that shadow isnt the only one to have mandates unlike what some people in the fanbase seem to believe)
edit: id text / transcript under the cut now that im off mobile
[ID: Four screenshots of an interview from the website Mega Visions that reads the following:
"MV: And the finale to season 2, which sees all the major characters return against Shadow, who tries to end the universe, also had a pretty big budget. Fittingly so!
Alan: Oh, man. Writing for Shadow was a challenge in itself. SEGA did not consider him a comedy character. They told us we could use him, he could be on the show, but he was not to be making any jokes. We were like "uh, sure." So to work around that, the joke became the very fact that Shadow is completely humorless. So edgy, all the time. It was funny that he was here, having to deal with all these crazy people.
Greg: Shadow was a character that was very protected by SEGA. They were reluctant to let us use him very much, and when we did use him, he came with so many notes and restrictions that it was easier to not use him. That's why he wasn't on the show as much as fans would have wanted.
MV: So that's why he was relegated to being a once-in-a-blue-moon, 'special episode' character. Was Metal Sonic the same? He doesn't even talk, you could have used him more!
Alan: Yeah, Metal Sonic only put in the one appearance.
Greg: But we brought him back for the finale. Honestly, when characters that were existing, original-universe Sonic characters were brought in, those episodes were just too hard to write for. There were so many notes, they were such protected characters. We got to have so much more freedom with characters of our own, like Dave the Intern and the Mayor, that it was just easier. Did we want to include Big the Cat? Sure we did. But writing that would have been a huge headache, it would have had to have gone through so many layers of clearance. It would have taken ages to get approved. It wasn't worth it. Hence why there's only Shadow, Metal Sonic, and Vector the Crocodile in a handful of episodes.
Alan: Bill's design was that we should be our own island, literally, away from SEGA; to have to get as few approvals from the company as we could. That way, we could play around in the sandbox of original characters, original locations. He told us not to go into lore or backstories, just to keep it all in one place because then we could mess around all we wanted."

Dragon Ball is such a unique and interesting series to me. Even if you're only so familiar with it, it's more than likely affected or influenced you in a greater way than you realize. You could know absolutely nothing about Goku, but if someone showed you Goku, you'd know it was Goku. He has a distinct personality, distinct skills, a distinct silhouette. You recognize him even if you don't know him.
I was both a 90s and a 2000s kid, not really a Millennial but not really Gen Z. Right on the cusp of both. So when the mainstream American anime boom kicked off around that time, I was Team Sailor Moon. Of course I was; they were pretty like my Barbie dolls, but unlike Barbie, they got to beat the shit out of evildoers, and I LOVED it.
But as much as that show occupied my attention, I couldn't pretend that Dragon Ball Z didn't catch my eye on some level.
youtube
When I did manage to catch it on Toonami, I couldn't look away. I'd never seen such intense action scenes before. And even if I felt like things dragged on sometimes, when things got good, they got GOOD. I wouldn't have called myself a DBZ fan at the time, but I still understood the hype behind Vegeta, Frieza, Super Saiyan Goku, Future Trunks, the Androids, Perfect Cell, Majin Buu, Gotenks...all of it. I remember my older cousins were really into Dragon Ball Z. One of them had a black and white poster on their bedroom wall with all the Z Fighters. I remember when they would play with me, they'd pretend they were going to fire a Kamehameha at me, and I'd giggle with excitement because they sounded just like Goku.
The show's impact was not lost on American media; you can open YouTube, type "dragon ball references in tv shows" and see for yourself. And that's just in America; Dragon Ball has a massive presence in cultures across the globe, and back in Japan, it was turning out to be a strong influence on the likes of One Piece, Bleach, and shounen manga/anime as a genre.
Growing up as a Sonic fan in the early 2000s, I cannot understate the influence that DBZ had not just on the Sonic series itself, but on Sonic fan content in particular. I'm talking countless videos of Sonic X clips set to audio from DBZ, with Sonic as Goku and Shadow as Vegeta. All the fan art and sprite art of Sonic going Super Saiyan 3. One of the most widely-known fan projects in the community is the Newgrounds animation Nazo Unleashed; animator Chakra-X (who was in high school when he made this thing!!!) took an unused design for Super Sonic that showed up for 3 seconds in the first Sonic X trailer...
Tumblr media
...and, influenced by DBZ villains, permanently altered how most people perceive this design: not as a scrapped Sonic transformation, but as his own unforgettable villain. It didn't matter that Nazo wasn't canon, all we cared about was the jaw-dropping Dragon Ball-style fight scenes that Chakra-X gave us. I highly suggest you watch Nazo Unleashed on YouTube if you've never seen it before, it's an awesome piece of fandom history.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Also quick shoutout to Edwyn Tiong, his performance as Nazo absolutely gave Perfect Cell energy)
And as seen with games like Sonic Frontiers, and characters like Surge and Kit who (as it turns out, unintentionally!!) parallel the Androids, that influence carries on to this day.
Look at the first boss fight from Sonic Frontiers.
youtube
Look at this. Look at this and tell me this doesn't scream Dragon Ball.
The DBZ energy radiating from these boss fights was so hype that people started taking clips from DRAGON BALL ITSELF and setting them to the soundtrack!!! A complete 180 from what people were doing on YouTube in 2008!!
youtube
And this is just the influence of Dragon Ball. Unfortunately, I don't know enough about Dr. Slump, Chrono Trigger, or any of Akira Toriyama's other works to do them justice. All I can really say is that Toriyama went from writing gag manga to inventing modern shounen action tropes without even intending to. We've lost a genuine legend. But to quote the opening of DBZ Kai: "Nothing ever dies. We will rise again."
Rest in peace, Toriyama-san. Yours is a legacy that no one will ever forget, whether they know your name or not. And one of these days, when I'm able to sit down and properly watch through all of Dragon Ball, I'll be thinking of you and what we have because of you.
Tumblr media
Thank you for everything.

I'm going to talk about 9/11 a bit, but I'm going to put it under the cut because it may be long, and I'm not sure anyone would want to read it. I just need to vent a little because the day always makes me a little sad. I'm going to recall some memories from that day, too, so be warned before you read. I'm a tumblr old, so I remember it well, and many of these memories involve some traumatic shit.
To me 9/11 is always a solemn day not just because of what happened that day, but also what it did to us as a country and the world. I don't want people to remember 9/11 like so many of us did, as a justification for war. Tbh I don't know what I want from writing this. I think I just need to express some things that have been rolling around in my head today.
I was fortunate to not lose anyone that day. One of my older brothers did spend about half his time in the WTC though, and there was a period of time that day where we didn't know if he was there. This was pre cell phones for most people and we couldn't get through to his work phone. When the towers fell I still didn't know, and that fear is something I will always think of on 9/11. I used all my lunch money on a pay phone trying to call family members. About an hour after that my dad did hear from him and we were all relieved. He went on to have 3 kids and I sometimes think about how many people weren't born due to 9/11 and the wars afterward.
The community I grew up in wasn't close to NY or DC, but we did have some connections to it. The girl that sat next to me in typing class had a father who worked at the Pentagon, and she told me her dad was helping to look for bodies there. About 10% of my class joined the military later, and 2 died in Afghanistan. When I was a senior years after 9/11, my boyfriend was a year older than me and in the National Guard. He was sent to Iraq and wounded there. My mom's work was tied to the military, and she spent most of the next few months working long, stressful hours. It led to her having a mini stroke, and she retired early about 8 years after 9/11.
That day and for days after all the channels showed endless 9/11 footage. There were close-ups of people in or above the impact zones in the towers, which is something they showed live. I have the image of people waving for help from the windows permanently stuck in my head. The news also showed people falling, they would try to cut away most of the time but sometimes the camera would linger and you could see more detail than you wanted too. That evening they also kept showing pictures of falling people, until finally they decided that was fucked up and stopped. Those images are stuck in my head too.
Many people were glued to the TV and we we were just completely immersed in these images over and over again. While it was happening there was the terror of not knowing what would happen to all those people. Could the people waving for help be rescued? Were there any more hijacked planes full of people waiting for their deaths? When the towers fell, how many people were in them still? The news kept saying there could be as many as 10k people dead from the towers alone. Were we going to war? We had to be. Somehow, we had to get revenge for all these people who died in terror. I remember waking up the next morning to find my mom crying in front of the TV, I think it was just all too much.
We really didn't know what would happen next. Later that afternoon, Air Force 1 flew over our house, and the jets around it caused a sonic boom. I had never heard one before. The local news cut in and said there was an explosion not too far from where my mom was (this was later corrected to a random fire + the sonic boom). This is going to sound silly, but I had an anxiety attack that my mom was in danger, which was exasperated when she didn't answer her work phone. I remember when she got home that day, I was sitting at the kitchen table and saw her pull up. I ran outside crying and hugged her.
As time passed, we learned more about the dead. There were children on the planes. I remember before the 2nd plane hit the towers, my mind thought the first plane had to be a smaller one, like a little Cessna or something. It didn't make sense, but my mind couldn't accept that someone would fly a plane full of people into a building. Then the 2nd plane hit and reality set in.
The news showed people covered in dust and sometimes blood fleeing the towers. It showed hospitals with staff waiting outside with gurney beds waiting for victims that would never come. Posters of all the missing all over NYC. People went on the news looking for their loved ones and there was so much pain on their faces and in their voices.
All this grief, all this anger we felt, was then used to inflict more tragedies on others. Nearly a million dead in the War on Terror (how the fuck do you go to war on a concept?). I'm ashamed to admit that I bought into the propaganda, I think most people did until the Iraq war, myself included. For years afterward, 9/11 would fill me with so much anger. Now I look back on that, and I'm angry for different reasons. I'm angry we decided to go along with everything the government wanted to do in response, like a war without a timetable or plan to end, the Patriot Act, and the Iraq War started entirely on lies.
I think about how different things were before 9/11. When my mom would go away on business, we could go right up to her gate to greet her when we got home. In a broader way, there was just this naive view of America. We had "won" the Cold War, and we had the greatest military and the greatest economy in the world. I think we really thought we were untouchable, that war and other fucked up things would always be distant and never really reach us. I understand there was another naivete within myself, too. I was a middle-class white person, and I understand now that how I viewed the world was entirely based on my own circumstances. But also, overall, so many of us just didn't expect something like this to happen. 9/11 really changed our idea of what the world was and what our government should be.
Idk what the point of this post is, maybe just venting. Sometimes, I just want to explain why we reacted the way we did. Sometimes, I just want to relieve the shame I feel at our response. How could I be so naive that it took until the lack of WMDs found in Iraq for me to start questioning things? How much pain did we unleash on the world because we didn't view the world as it was? To me, 9/11 will always be a tragedy for all the innocents killed that day and in response to that day.

Have you seen the new Sonic Prime TV show? If you did, what do you think?
As a matter of fact, I have! Here are my thoughts below:
I genuinely really enjoyed it and binged it all in one sitting. There are many aspects of the show that I really liked such as the voice and portrayal of Shadow (the best English voice depiction we've had for him since Jason Griffith in my opinion), the shatterverse versions of Amy, Tails, Knuckles and Rouge and just so much more.
I found the portrayal of Sonic really cute in the show. Yeah, he's very goofy and gets his ass kicked constantly by everyone around him but it's actually quite interesting to see that he isn't perfect and that he's very much vulnerable. I did think they dumbed him down too much for the sake of humour and even though it wasn't unbearable, I didn't really appreciate it that much?
Though, I understand that Sonic will never be a consistently written character because he's on different media and written by different people and everyone has their own image of him hahaha. He felt like a blend of film Sonic, sa2 Sonic, Boom Sonic and Forces Sonic in this show. I really enjoyed this version of him.
I also really loved the design and depiction of Rouge in all the universes! She was animated so fluidly and it was interesting to see her back to working on her own rather than for G.U.N or with Team Dark. She is one of my favourite characters and she was really nicely fleshed out. Wish we got more of her flirting with Knuckles though because I love it when she riles him up!
With Amy, although I really loved how she was portrayed in all the universes, I just wish we got her being a little flirty with Sonic. What made Amy so unique is how open she is about her feelings- especially her romantic ones for Sonic. I just want to see her make him a little flustered again and sadly I don't think we'll be seeing that from her again :/
That aside, she really is the glue of the team and I can't wait to see more of that in the episodes to come. I really liked that for the shatterverses, she was working for the egg council in one of them as a mech and she was a 'monster' in the feral world. The people behind the show were very creative with her and gave us some delicious angst and cute moments between her and Sonic~ Her pirate self is also super adorable and I love the designs for all of her selves.
Tails is perfect in every depiction of the shatterverse. He's so cute, so smart and was such a treat to watch. Of course, Nine was really fleshed out and we got to know the most about him but I can't help but be drawn to Mangy because he's just a little guy. I love Tails, he's too good for us.
Captain Dread Knuckles was my favourite depiction of Knuckles so far in the series! Especially towards the end when he finally got his mitts on the Prism and looked like an evil little fella. I do wish he wasn't dumbed down a little because we got plenty, PLENTY of that in Boom but I really did enjoy watching him and seeing him in action. His design as the pirate is probably my most favourite design in the show.
Overall, I have like a million more things I could say about this show and fangirl about the music, the animation, the environment designs, the characterisation, Shadow using Sonic as a punching bag, etc. But we don't need a 100K word doc from me about it hahaha.
I'm really glad we got so much wonderfulness from the dream team and this show as a whole was such a treat for Sonic fans. We are eating so well this year and it makes me so happy to see the silly blue bastard getting the love and treatment he deserves :)

well, now that my mlp question has been answered, what was the episode of mlpfim that stuck with you the most? for me it was most of the season openings/finales and then the want it need it have to have it episode or whatever that one was
bestie you know it's definitely not just one. i get why those stuck with you though! those were definitely bonkers episodes
Obviously, the first two episodes. they're the pilot!
look before you sleep, because for some reason i hyperfixated on the sleep song they made for rarity. it was hilarious and i think about it every time i rewatch the episode
sonic rainboom. i think about the guitar riff when rainbow was close to performing the boom quite a lot. i'll rewatch the episode just to hear it again! it's so awesome and good
season 2 openings, because discord is fun. why didn't he just forcefully discord them all. forever. silly discord
luna eclipsed. i wish we saw more of the bat ponies! also luna's redesign was pretty cool, no matter how much i loved the beta design. just assuming that luna's return left her completely powerless, hence the non-flowy hair and small stature. also holiday interpretations are fun!
sweet and elite, just for the iconic rarity song
hurricane fluttershy, because shes relatable! i was always a little self conscious about my own physical abilities but this episode (and joking around about it) made me feel a lot better
canterlot wedding. cadence my beloved. changelings are so very interesting. i also remember waking up on the couch in my mom's office since they put it on the tv, and my mom joked about mlp being the thing that got me to wake up
crystal empire kinda came out of nowhere but i LOOOOVE the magic implications. i wish they did more with sombra because he seems so interesting as a villain. also i remember being very proud of remembering that the square root of 546 is 23.36664289109
too many pinkie pies; i remember watching this episode the day it aired (it was a reupload on youtube) and my sister and i watched it on our old dinosaur computer, loaded up with good ol' windows 7 and internet explorer
magical mystery cure. i also remember watching this one specifically, sitting in my old bunk bed watching it on my pink disney princess tiara tv and crying at twilight becoming an alicorn because i was so very proud of her (and thought the show was ending)
the season 4 opening, very obviously a huge upgrade in animation. i remember watching leaks of luna's transformation into nightmare moon from a convention and being so excited to see it! im just a big fan of history in shows like this. it gives the world such depth
bats. bats. bats. freaked me the heck out
pinkie's pride because i knew weird al before he showed up on mlp (and always flexed it to my friends in elementary school lol) ALSO i really liked pinkie's lament in it
from whom the sweetie belle toils. ah, siblings. my sister and i never had THESE kinds of issues but i always relate to their sisterly dynamic the most
testing testing 123. probably one of my favorite episodes to rewatch. dash is just neurodivergent!!! it also helped me when i was transitioning from elementary school to junior high (i went to that 6 year college prep school) and the learning curve of "not being as gifted anymore." i still struggle with studying and have not found any great learning methods! well, aside from pretending to be interested, for some reason.
twilight's kingdom. first luna song, AND a laser battle, AND super powerful twilight??? it was pretty awesome. i still want the library back tho pl0x thanks
the cutie map. communism, ok thx byeee. also one of the first villains to be a where's waldo! its fun to look back and spot her and know it WASNT a lazy animators choice
do princesses dream of magic sheep becaues it discusses self harm???? to a target audience of young girls entering a period in their lives where self harm is pretty prominent? man.
rarity investigate is a very fun episode. man i like rarity a lot
scare master validating my fears and acknowledging fluttershy's anxiety around the holiday!! it did a decent job at communicating that what may seem trivial to some is a very real issue for others. i love love love how fluttershy is treated in this episode; her boundaries are validated and accommodated for. (i dont like that sometimes they portrayed her as a party pooper. however! this is a very real feeling some people have! and i think it would be worse not to include a little bit of tension surrounding it)
a hearth's warming tale stuck with me well and good since im a huge christmas buff. also, more luna songs. luna songs were always huge in the fandom
all bottled up! starlight glimmer, my beloved. bottling up feelings is a pretty real thing for me, and instead of disregarding my emotions, it taught me that its healthy to vent in a consensual environment and tell people they're bugging you if they are.
parental glideance. actually, any episode introducing parents. omg, theyre (mostly) not orphans!
a royal problem. daybreaker is cool and awesome, and the lroe behind what she COULDVE been is amazing, but i miss the days of nightmare star
THE PERFECT PEAR. WAHHHHHH
once upon a zepplin was so real for me. confounded people pleasing leading to you having an awful time and missing out on everything.
sounds of silence, because kirins are so cool and they were a very cool thought but i would like to see them speak more than in one episode please thanks
the beginning of the end p2 with twilight's super awesome speech while fighting sombra. man shes so cool. the hair flip animation was cool. twilight is so cool.
she talks to angel, because ive always very badly wanted to know what the heck is going on in that little bunny's mind. and it was hilarious
AND NOW, A LOVELY COMPILATION OF EVERY EPISODE THAT HAS MADE ME CRY AT LEAST ONCE (the anecdotes of a massive crybaby) ~
Hurricane Fluttershy, S2
A Canterlot Wedding Part 2, S2

RIP JDF
I... I think I'm just in shock right now.
I'm not sure how many of my followers will care about this but gather around and let me tell you a tale.
The tale of Era's first fandom.
Tumblr media
When I was around, maybe nine years old, I was your standard American child who woke up on Saturday mornings and rushed to the television for cartoons. Unlike some kids, I lived off of free cable TV in the form of Jetix and PBS.
I had a list of shows I really enjoyed. Sonic X was my original introduction to the Sonic fandom. Jane and the Dragon got me started on my fantasy kick. And then there was Power Rangers.
Specifically, Power Rangers SPD and Power Rangers Mystic Force.
Tumblr media
(Listen, I know that GIF is stupid and it is just as stupid in the show but I love it and will not apologize for it--)
Now, I'm not here to claim that Power Rangers is the most amazing show in the world or even that it is particularly good. But, Power Rangers is the first fandom that I found, lost, then found again and it basically activated my fangirl gene, eventually leading me to where I am today.
It was also my first "fanfiction" of a sort. I never wrote it down, but I would act it out in my room. I pretended to be a purple ranger and kicked butt with all the other rangers, had friends, and even a very convoluted plot. But, I was nine to ten years old at the time so I think it wasn't as bad as it could have been.
Let's jump ahead a few years with the invention of Netflix streaming and the glorious years when every single Power Rangers show and season was available on it. Call me childish, but even as a teenager and even now, I enjoy the Power Rangers franchise.
I will admit that it is mostly nostalgic, not necessarily good storytelling. But I still enjoyed it and like to think that I am quite an expert on the franchise. I've watched pretty much every season (not Overdrive and only a little bit of Turbo because absolutely NOT).
On my reintroduction to the franchise, I ended up randomly picking to watch Dino Thunder. There, was my first official introduction to Tommy Oliver. As to who this character was? I had no idea. But, finding out lead me down the Power Rangers rabbit hole faster than you could blink and he quickly grew to my favorite character to ever come out of the show.
Tumblr media
Tommy Oliver is a character played by Jason David Frank and was the original Green and White ranger all the way back in the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. He went on to be the Red Ranger for Zeo and the first Red Ranger for Turbo, before turning the title over to the next generation. Jason David Frank returned again as Tommy Oliver for a Red Ranger reunion episode in Wild Force, and then in Dino Thunder as the "mentor/Zordon" character and as the Black Ranger. He returned multiple times since for reunion and milestone episodes, was a constant presence at comic cons, helped develop, and even voiced/acted for his counterpart character in the Power Rangers Boom! comics (Lord Drakkon, aka Evil Tommy), and even got a spin-off comic that I own ("Soul of the Dragon").
Jason David Frank was basically the heart and soul of a very chaotic fandom that many actors, staff, crew, writers, and even fans like to duck and hide away from. But, I respected him so much for taking what he was given in life and running with it. You could see it in every appearance, just how much fun he had talking to fans and being involved with the franchise. He was always just... there.
This is why I think I'm in complete shock to have learned today that Jason David Frank recently passed away at age 49.
I just want to express my gratitude and joy for Jason David Frank as basically being... well, my guide into this franchise.
It's not great. It's not going to win any awards. And it certainly is not a show I recommend to anyone over the age of eleven. But it was my introduction to fandoms and through my experiences, with Power Rangers, I went on to look up and learn about Sonic the Hedgehog, Star Wars, Avengers, Legend of Zelda, I could go on and on.
So... thank you, JDF. Thanks for the morphing times, the Zord fights, the romances, the teams, and the memories.
Once a Ranger, Always a Ranger.
RIP Jason David Frank, May the Power Protect You Forever and Always

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (2022) Film Review
Tumblr media
Introduction
Greetings, mortals! For today's review, we'll be looking at Paramount's Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (2022).
This is part of a series of reviews in which I’ll be going into slightly more detail about my thoughts on various Sonic TV shows and movies, and why I think they're either well written and engaging, or an absolute trainwreck (or somewhere in-between). I’ll be giving my stance on the character portrayals, visuals, soundtracks, voice actors (and actors in general), and what themes/messages they had to offer. Keep in mind that these are just my own personal thoughts. Whether you agree or disagree, feel free to share your own thoughts and opinions!
(SPOILER WARNING)
Anyway, let us begin! ^^
Plot
Following Robotnik's defeat, he returns to Earth for revenge with the red echidna warrior Knuckles in tow. With Tom and Maddie Wachowski on vacation in Hawaii, Sonic then teams up with a yellow two-tailed fox named Tails on a world-wide adventure to search for the Master Emerald, which gives its user ultimate power.
Characters
Sonic is once again very endearing and relatable, and he actually does get some nice character development this time around. He now possesses morals rather than just being cocky. His human side really starts to show and would risk himself to save those he really cares about. He is still very much a kid like he was in the first movie, but he has matured a bit. His relationship with Tom Wachowski also evolved from a friendship to a form of son-and-father relationship, with Tom trying to be a supportive presence to Sonic by reminding him that the time will eventually come for him to use the incredible powers he possesses but is not allowed to use in public.
Tails is super adorable throughout the film. He is a determined and brave young fox who is willing to face the unknown on multiple worlds and deadly villains, all in an attempt to find Sonic, no matter what. He is also quite logical and intelligent, as seen by how he steadily narrowed his search for Sonic by thinking things through and using what he learned along the way. Tails was once insecure about his extra tail, but after seeing how Sonic uses his weird quality, his super speed, to be a hero, Tails came to believe that his weird quality is not so bad. This is a relatable message as many people (myself included) may have some sort of disability that makes them get ostracized.
I really like how Knuckles is portrayed in this film. It’s fun to see him adjusting to how things work on Earth. He comes from a warrior tribe, and he had never really experienced friendship before. He is gullible, but he's not stupid. In fact, he's actually pretty smart. This movie understands Knuckles better than the Meta Era games and the Sonic Boom games/TV series did. I love that this film brings Knuckles back to being a serious rival to Sonic, compared to the more recent games demoting him to the role of being an idiot since the Sonic Boom cartoon. It makes me wish SEGA would take notes if they saw the films, because in my honest opinion, Paramount is basically doing Sonic better than SEGA did post-Unleashed/Black Knight. It even goes as far as to give Knuckles a father, something the games would never do. And while Knuckles is mostly portrayed as a serious, badass character along the lines of his depictions in S3&K, the Sonic Adventure games and Sonic X, he does have his fair share of funny moments as well, with the majority of them having to do with his general unfamiliarity with Earth. My favorite moment is when Knuckles is reading out loud, "Dot, dot, dot... dot, dot, dot... dot, dot, dot..." That got a big laugh out of me when I saw it in the theater for the first time, and I still find it hilarious to this day. See, SEGA? You CAN give Knuckles a few comedic moments here and there without turning him into a complete joke like in Sonic Boom. And seeing him and Tails just having fun playing baseball and heading to get ice cream after having such difficult upbringings was very heartwarming. Knuckles is one of the best Sonic characters in my opinion, so seeing him portrayed in possibly his best iteration yet after years of flanderization was such a massive treat and was one of the things that made this movie the best video game movie I've seen since the first Sonic movie.
Visuals
Visually, this film looks considerably better than its predecessor. Back in 2019, many people on the Internet infamously cyber-bullied the makers of the first film into changing Sonic's look, winning out in the end with his current design. I'm not sure how they were able to pull it off, but Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles all look well integrated into our world. Scenes where human characters were interacting with Sonic, both physically and verbally, all looked very convincing, as though there really were an anthropomorphic blue hedgehog sitting next to them or dancing alongside them in a bar.
Soundtrack
Once again, I think they did a pretty good job with the soundtrack for this film. Stars in the Sky by Kid Cudi is pretty catchy in my opinion, and I liked hearing Barracuda by Heart and Walk by Pantera in the film as well.
Acting
Like in the first movie, Ben Schwartz does a great job playing up Sonic's cocky attitude to full effect. Although he still has that streak of impulsivity, Sonic this time feels as though he is trying to make an effort to use his intellect rather than just his speed to hunt down the Master Emerald.
It was also great to hear Colleen O'Shaughnessey reprise her role as Tails from the video games, as I can't really think of any other mainstream actors capable of voicing the loveable two-tailed fox. If you enjoyed O'Shaughnessey's voice of Tails in the games, then you are sure to like how she is able to hold her own alongside the rest of the cast.
Idris Elba absolutely NAILED Knuckles in my opinion. He is a really excellent choice for Knuckles in this movie and arguably gives a better performance than the alternative from the video games and even television series.
Jim Carrey once again does a fantastic job playing Dr. Robotnik. In fact, he actually seemed a lot better this time around, allowing Eggman to lose his mind, and therefore allowing Carrey to do what he does best. His facial expressions are hilarious, and he still manages to strike a perfect balance of goofy and threatening. Whoever cast him as Robotnik is a genius. It's so perfect. I can't imagine it being anyone else. And while I respect his desire to retire, I'm still holding out hope that he will reprise his role as Dr. Robotnik one last time for the third Sonic movie.
The supporting actors, from returning cast members like James Marsden (Tom), Tika Sumpter (Maddie), Natasha Rothwell (Rachel), Adam Pally (Wade) and Lee Majdoub (Agent Stone) to newcomers like Shemar Moore (Randall) were all fantastic in their roles as well. Say what you will about the human characters in the Sonic movies, but they're certainly written better than most of the human characters in the games. Can you imagine Princess Elise from Sonic 06 driving a golf cart all pissed off chugging a bottle of wine? She's too busy trying to break Princess Peach's record for most times kidnapped.
Theme/Message
This film sheds light on the importance of having family and friends in your life. They will always have your back and keep you on the right path in life. Sonic and the other characters experience different obstacles that teach them the true definition of a family, even if they come as friends.
Conclusion
As much as I loved the first Sonic movie, I honestly think this film is a vastly superior sequel that improved upon its predecessor in every way. This film has new character appearances, major plot twists, more story elements and lore from the game series, mind-blowing adventures, and tons of laughs throughout it. It's great that this sequel is one of the few movie sequels out there that's actually better than the original. And considering the "we know better than the fans" mentality that is so prevalent in the entertainment industry nowadays, it's refreshing to see movies actually made for the fans for a change. There were plenty of Easter eggs and nods to the Sonic games sprinkled throughout, including several Sonic Adventure references, as well as several callbacks to jokes and plot points from the first film. The humor and pop culture references were really well done in my opinion. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of 80s movie references that were in the film, including a brief homage to Risky Business, as well as mentions of Poltergeist and Ghostbusters (for instance, when Tom's deputy, Wade, learns about the Master Emerald's ability to convert thought into action, he compares it to the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man), and one of my favorite lines in the movie is when Sonic says "Oh great, the winter soldier..." I'm not even a Marvel fan and I find that line funny. Also, I've got to give a shout-out to this gem: "And who is Clifford the Big Red Rage Monster??"
The wedding subplot was actually pretty entertaining in my opinion, especially the parts where Sonic crashes the wedding and Rachel goes full on bridezilla mode upon learning that her fiance is actually an undercover G.U.N. officer.
And the ending where Sonic turns into Super Sonic, and he comes to truly accept the Wachowskis as his parents, and they, along with Tails and Knuckles, bond over a game of baseball, is just... [chef's kiss] beautiful... It truly does end the movie on a wholesome, heartwarming note... ^w^
Overall, I personally consider Sonic 2 to be a fantastic sequel that improves upon and greatly surpasses the original. If you enjoyed the first film, then you will LOVE this sequel. Don't listen to what critics say, this movie is a blast and I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun with it!
And as for the post-credits scene with Shadow... I was SUPER HYPED when I first saw this, because Shadow has always been one of my favorite Sonic characters ever since I was a kid. And considering the writers seem to have made it their mission to fix the characters that SEGA broke during the 2010's, let's all hope that Paramount will do Shadow justice as well...
My final score:
5.9/5 (Amazing)
