Danger First
Chapter 10
.
@pocketramblr :)
.
One day - and not even a whole day, because of travel time and Inko wanted Izuku home for dinner- simply wasn't enough time to master a quirk. Although he could turn Float on and off, now. So, they made plans to come back next week, and the next, up until the sports festival. Which. Wow. Really was only two weeks away.
Izuku had never realized how close to the beginning of the school year it was.
He was going to die.
"You're not going to die," said Mr. Yagi. "I'm not going to say the sports festival isn't important, because it is, it's one of the best ways to make professional connections for students, but not doing well isn't the end of the world, especially not in your first year. No one expects you to be perfectly polished."
"But," said Izuku, "I'm supposed to be the next you! I've got to stand out, right?"
Mr. Yagi looked very guilty. "I... may have given you that impression when we were first training, yes. But, since then, with all my research into the past holders... few of them were popular, flashy heroes. If you want to walk the same path as me, that's great. But you don't have to. Even I didn't really start that chapter of my life until after college."
Izuku looked down at his hands, letting silence fill the space between them as he contemplated Mr. Yagi's words. "This isn't about me manifesting One for All differently, is it?"
"What? No, no of course not, my boy. I mean, it certainly helped me come to this conclusion, I wouldn't have done so much research without it! But I certainly hope I would have come to the same conclusion eventually, even so."
"Okay..." said Izuku, still dubious.
"I mean it," protested Mr. Yagi. "Most of my work is essentially underground, you know. There's a reason the battle trial was what it was."
"H-huh? You? Underground? But you're so recognizable!"
"Am I? I firmly believe in bringing all my resources to bear in the fight against evil! Ha ha!"
His laugh devolved into a cough, and he fumbled for a handkerchief. But he recovered quickly enough.
"I guess that makes sense," said Izuku, cautiously, once he thought Mr. Yagi wasn't going to start coughing again.
"You didn't think I stayed number one by popularity alone, did you?"
"I- the formulas the Hero Commission uses to determine rankings are secret, and it only includes spotlight heroes, so when I extrapolated the hero billboard rankings, yes, I assigned a high weight to popularity. There were always some discrepancies between my predictions and the end results, but I figured I missed some events, or the commission assigned them different values…"
"That's quite impressive, my boy. But, though popularity is a factor, the HPSC does take unpublicized fights and rescues into account. Assuming you report them…"
That was the second time Mr. Yagi had mentioned not telling the commission something.
"Do you, um, do you do that a lot? Not tell the commission things, I mean."
"Eh? No, no, I try to stay up on my paperwork. I get a lot of help from Naomasa, though. Some heroes, especially independent ones, without an agency, do have trouble keeping up, sometimes."
"It's just… the other day you said something about not telling the commission about All for One."
"Ah," said Mr. Yagi. He drummed his fingers on the steering wheel. "You're quite right. How should I put this… The HPSC knows All for One exists, and I have made them generally aware of his modern exploits. I haven't told them about his ability to give quirks, though they may know through other avenues, there are certain battles I've had with him that I haven't told them about, and they do not know about One for All."
“Why not?”
“Villains aren’t the only ones who seek power,” said Mr. Yagi. “The HPSC provides a vital service, and I think what one does matters more than why one does it, but… it is my observation that many of the people there are more concerned with personal power than doing the right thing. And positions of power and authority tend to draw in those who would abuse those things."
"Even heroics?"
"Especially heroics. The HPSC Ethics Review Board is supposed to stop that, but no system is perfect." He shook himself. "But look at me! I was trying to give you a pep talk, not saddle you with doubts about the government!"
Izuku laughed, nervously. "I mean, you've definitely distracted me from the sports festival…"
“Yes. The sports festival. Don’t worry about making a big spotlight combat debut. If you want to focus on rescue, or investigation, or the underground, I’ll support you all the way.” He paused. “You do need combat, though, because, because of-”
“All for One?”
“Yes, exactly. All for One.”
.
“Way to kill the mood, guys,” said Banjo.
“I think the mood was thoroughly dead already,” said Yoichi.
“Unlike your brother,” said En. “Ninth’s father.”
“Come on, it was just a little omission of information. It wasn’t even a lie!”
“It was definitely a lie. You’re so lucky that my relief about you not being a pedophile eclipsed my righteous fury regarding your mendacity.”
“You know, the fact that you’re delivering that completely deadpan gives me doubts about the fury part.”
“I’m mad at you.”
“You love me.”
“Doesn’t mean I can’t be mad at you.”
“Hey, hey, wait a minute,” said Nana, making a ‘T’ shape with her hands. “Time out. Ninth’s father is All for One.”
“Yes,” said Yoichi, hanging his head, “I thought that had been established.”
“So, are we… What Toshinori is saying is completely valid, by the way… but, are we expecting this kid to fight his father? Is that a thing we’re doing?”
“Uh,” said Yoichi, “in our defense, we did think he was dead.”
“Maybe Eighth will get ‘im before Ninth has to deal with it,” suggested Banjo. “He’s got to have a better chance of that, now what with Fa Jin and all.” He paused. “But, you know what would give Ninth an even better chance, if he does have to fight his deadbeat dad-”
“He’s not a deadbeat,” interrupted Hikage.
“What?”
“Calling him a deadbeat would imply that he is neither supporting the Midoriyas financially nor regularly in contact with them. He is on both counts.”
“What?” squealed Bango.
“Did you miss his phone call with his father immediately following his return home after the USJ attack?”
“Oh,” said Yoichi, “no, I was very aware of my brother’s evil, evil voice. It’s just that these guys were too focused on scolding me to listen to anything I had to say. I still can’t believe he sent someone like that to attack his own son’s class.”
“Didn’t he, like, kill you?” asked En.
“No, my death was largely unrelated. You’ve got to remember, I was a chronically ill fugitive from the law with no money. Who told you that he killed me?”
Everyone looked at their immediate predecessor. Yoichi tracked the path back to Third, who had gone very stiff.
“What the heck, Third? You were there when I died. Why would you tell Hikage that?”
Third did not answer.
“Actually, what did he tell you, Hikage?
“Oh, it was very moving and heroic. It happened while you were saving a busload of metahuman orphans. You sacrificed yourself to let them get away from All for One. I even cried a little.”
“Is it weird that I’m now disappointed in myself for not dying like that?”
“Very,” said Nana.
“What were we talking about before this?” asked En.
“I have no idea,” said Banjo.
.
Izuku delayed going to class, nervous about everyone's reactions to his quirk. It wasn't that he thought they'd reject him, but more that he had no answers for the inevitable questions.
But he also didn't want to be late.
"Todoroki was so cool!" Hagakure exclaimed as he opened the classroom door. "He was all like, blam, bam, swish! And- and he checked whether or not I was there first, before attacking, which was super cool of him."
Todoroki's expression was halfway between 'statue' and 'help, I've been hit by a truck.' "Cool?"
"Very cool."
"You've grown since the first day, kero."
"Ah! Midoriya!"
All heads turned towards him. In the next second, he was hugged by several people, which was more friendly skin contact than he'd had since… ever, probably.
"Eep," he said.
"We were so worried about you," said Uraraka. "We made a group chat, after, but since you were unconscious…"
"Hm," said Monoma, "your quirk still is definitely a stockpile…"
"Monoma!" shouted Iida. "Did you join this hug just to copy quirks?"
"And what of it?"
"But speaking of quirks," said Jiro, "you can fly now? We kind of went along with it at the time, but that's kind of different from a sensory quirk."
"I know," said Izuku, "and I have no explanation."
"Maybe your quirk stockpiles danger," said Monoma, contemplatively. He rubbed his chin with one finger. "That could be why you can sense danger- you're stockpiling it. Then, when the danger gets over a certain threshold, you can release it as flight… why are you all looking at me like that?"
"Oh, nothing," drawled Kaminari. "Just that you're more thoughtful than you look, pretty boy."
"I don't want to hear that from you."
"Th-thank you, Monoma! I'll have to mention it when I go to quirk counseling next."
Which may or may not be this afternoon, depending on how Mr. Aizawa felt and- His head snapped to the door. "Mr. Aizawa's coming!"
They all rushed to their seats. The door creaked open.
"Oh my gosh, he's a mummy."
.
"Iida?"
"What is it, Midoriya?"
They were having a bit of a break during English while Present Mic cycled them through for short sessions with Hound Dog.
"I didn't have a chance to ask you earlier, but how's your brother?"
“He’s alright! It’s the first really major injury of his career, so he’s going to take it easy for the rest of the month, to make sure his engines heal properly. He’d prefer not to of course, but, ah, there is a silver lining.”
“That’s good,” said Izuku, encouragingly.
“I really shouldn’t be happy about it,” said Iida, rubbing the back of his neck, “but he’ll be able to come see me during the sports festival, and he probably would have been too busy if he were active.”
“I think it’s okay to be happy about good things, even if they happen because of bad things,” said Izuku. “It isn’t like we can go back and make the bad things not happen, after all…”
“That’s very true, Midoriya! What a mature way of thinking about things.”
Izuku didn’t know about that, but he was willing to take the compliment.
.
“Midoriya,” said Shouta, who was absolutely and unquestionably recovered enough to teach. Even if he had zoned out in the corner of the room in his sleeping bag all morning rather than trekking back to the teacher’s lounge… or teaching any of his other classes… shut up. “What are you doing at the window?”
“O-oh. Mr. Aizawa. I didn’t know you were awake?”
It was, maybe, a little unfair to single Midoriya out like that, since the entire class was standing by the window, and the way Uraraka, Sero, and Midoriya were closest to it, with Monoma a close fourth, was concerning, but Midoriya was the first one Shouta saw, and the one most likely to to cave and tell him what was going on.
“Midoriya.”
“R-right. Well, going out the door seems a little unpleasant today, so we thought we’d switch it up?”
What did that even mean?
“We were going to bring you with us, of course,” continued Midoriya.
What did that even mean?
“Out the window.”
“Um. Yes.”
“What kind of unpleasant are we talking about?”
“Battle trial unpleasant?”
Shouta groaned and hauled himself up, walking over to the door. He looked out the window and made note of all the students from other classes standing out there, circling like sharks. Great. Maybe they needed to have an assembly about respecting boundaries or whatever, especially if the people whose boundaries were being crossed were potentially traumatized.
Something to bring up at the next staff meeting he attended. Which… would probably not be soon.
Anyway.
He opened the door.
(“A mummy,” whispered someone.)
(First his kids, then these kids… he wasn’t that wrapped up.)
(Was he?)
“What are you all doing here?” he asked, voice rasping rather more than he wanted it to.
The students didn’t seem inclined to answer. Someone did mutter something about the sports festival, but it was far from the complete answer that Aizawa wanted.
“Right. Whatever. Scoping out the competition is one thing, but you are aware that class 1-A is recovering from a traumatic experience. And you’re blocking traffic. Clear off.”
The crowd slowly dispersed. Shouta sighed. He knew this would only be the first of many such incidents. He made a note to talk to Nemuri about whether or not she’d be willing to donate some of her class time to talk about public relations.
.
“You know,” said Nemuri, “if you actually rested, Recovery Girl would be able to heal you.”
“I know nothing of the sort,” said Shouta, glaring at his desk in the staff room. “I’m forgetting something.”
All Might walked in. “Er, young Aizawa,” he said. He paused for a painfully long, awkward moment. “Are you still meeting with young Midoriya today?”
“Crap.”
.
Did Izuku expect Mr. Aizawa to come to their meeting? No. The man had casts on all of his limbs. But, he hadn’t cancelled it either. So, better safe than sorry, right?
But it had been a while, now. Izuku could probably safely assume he wasn't coming after a half hour. He got up, packed his bags, and reached out for the door handle-
Only to freeze as Mr. Aizawa yanked it open and pulled Mr. Yagi into the classroom after him.
Izuku scurried back to his seat.
"Nothing physical today," croaked Mr. Aizawa. "We're going to figure out your quirk."
“O-okay,” said Izuku.
Aizawa collapsed into the seat behind the teacher's desk. “To be short, this quirk, One for All or whatever, is complete nonsense.”
“Uh,” said Mr. Yagi. “Sorry?”
“Sorry,” whispered Izuku.
“You should be. Not you, Midoriya. You’re fine.”
“Okay?”
“Right. So. You’ve got two quirks right now. Danger Sense and Float. Unless something else showed up over the weekend?”
“No, it’s, um, it is just those two right now.”
“And you’ll most likely get Smokescreen, Blackwhip, and that strength enhancement eventually. Plus two mystery quirks.”
“That is what I’ve been able to find out,” said Mr. Yagi.
“So, we have to figure out some way to get all those under a coherent umbrella that can account for the mystery quirks, and before the sports festival, so the evil immortal supervillain doesn’t notice that you have quirks just like a bunch of people he had personal beef with.”
Mr. Yagi cursed in English. “I hadn’t thought about that.”
“Yeah, I wonder what else you haven’t thought about. Maybe this year I can get Nezu to take my suggestion about doing hero names before the sports festival seriously. You know we’ve had people stalk students before because for some godforsaken reason we use their real names? I need a drink.”
“Ah, water?”
“No.”
“Young Aizawa, you’re a teacher…”
“A career choice I question daily. Midoriya, do you have any thoughts about how to make your quirk make sense in a way that won’t get you killed or abducted by the HPSC?”
“I- Does that happen?” despite his conversation with Mr. Yagi over the weekend, he still had generally positive thoughts about the hero commission.
“I have no idea. Wouldn’t put it past them.”
“Well, um, I was talking to Monoma earlier, and he said something about stockpiling danger, and how it might let out the stockpile as the energy necessary to levitate- which, really, would be a fascinating quirk if it did work that way- but I thought it might also work for Smokescreen and the strength enhancement? I mean, general responses to danger are fight, flight, or hide, so the strength enhancement is fight, Float is flight, and Smokescreen would be hide…”
“That might work. What about Blackwhip.”
“Yeah, that one has kind of stumped me.”
“Blackwhip sure is a problem,” agreed Mr. Aizawa.
.
The ghosts started laughing. “You’re a problem, Banjo,” chortled Nana.
“Come on, guys, that isn’t funny!”
"It is! It's hilarious!"
"They were just talking about All for One tracking the kid down and killing him!"
The mood sobered quickly.
"Considering that he is Ninth's father," said Hikage, "I suspect it's far too late for that."
"Yeah," said Yoichi. "But, just to be safe, and in case there are other weirdos out there, new rule: no giving him new quirks in public. Not that we can do anything about when he eventually manifests the stockpile…"
"What if he's going to die?" asked Hikage, raising his hand.
"He already got your quirk, why do you care?"
"We'd like to hear it," said Banjo, somewhat forcefully.
"Well, if he looks like he's going to die, do whatever you can to stop that from happening, I guess. But chucking a quirk he doesn't know how to use isn't always going to be the beat answer."
"Wait," said Nana. "Hold up a second. A few days ago we were talking about the potential for multiple quirk brain damage, weren't we?"
"Oh, good catch," said Yoichi. "I guess I forgot to mention it, which means Nana is the only one I'd trust babysitting my nephew in the event a quirk rewound him to elementary school age-"
"That is a suspiciously specific scenario," said En.
"-and all the rest of you are fired. You didn't even question giving him more quirks? Really?"
Hikage raised his hand. "I assumed you had discovered that Ninth had a constitution capable of handling multiple quirks, similar to yourself and your brother."
"That is true. Okay, Hikage would be another exception, but he's disqualified from babysitting for other reasons."
"That's fair."
.
"So we need something that can do all that, and has tentacles," said Izuku, squeezing his bottom lip in thought.
"Yeah," said Mr. Aizawa. "Honestly, even really dumb ideas would be welcome right now."
"Why are you looking at me?" asked Mr. Yagi.
"You know why."
There was only one creature Izuku could think of that could do all the things Izuku one day might be able to while maintaining room for the two mystery quirks. "Cthulhu."
Mr. Yagi looked mildly scandalized at the suggestion.
"Nah, it'd have to be something like eldritch. Cthulhu's trademarked in Japan, and that can give you aboveground types trouble."
"What is it a trademark for?" asked Mr. Yagi.
"Ask Midnight. I don't want to talk about it."
"Ah," said Mr. Yagi.
"The problem with that is that you currently have no justification to call it that. Now if you already had Smokescreen…"
The adults looked at him.
"... I don't think it's going to just show up like that," said Izuku.
.
"Why not?" asked Banjo, staring at En. "They practically asked you for it."
"Well, first off, I live for drama, so jot that down."
"Huh? What about me?" asked Yoichi.
"Nothing, it was just an idiom. Second…"
.
"...Right," said Aizawa. “For now, then, we’ll have to give it a temporary name, because it’s starting to get to the point in time where it’ll actually be illegal for you to not register it.” He shuffled his casts. “Yagi, start filling out those forms with what he can do currently. Midoriya, make sure you check him when he’s done. For now, we’ve got to come up with a name.”
“Um,” said Izuku. “Float’s the only one that’s really visible, so I could just call it Float?”
“Vetoed. You aren’t picking a name that the immortal supervillain knows.”
“He did seem to only refer to people by quirks unless he really hated them,” said Mr. Yagi. “Except his brother, who he always called ‘my foolish brother.’”
“Focus on the paperwork.”
“And he called himself by his quirk name as well,” mused Izuku. “Do you think it was a side effect? Quirks have document impact on people’s personalities-”
“Focus.”
“R-right. Um. Feather Fall? No, that’s part of a game. Flight Reflex?”
“Good enough for now,” said Aizawa. “Flight Reflex it is.”

Ayesha Liveblogs Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card S1
Not to be someone born in the 90s but wow this is a change from the more simple animation style new anime truly likes things shiny, intensely bright and round lmao
Ah I guess the prologue is just a reanimation of the original anime finale? That’s fair it helps you reintegrate if it had been nineteen years for you
“That way, you’ll realize who you consider to be your Number One” Eriol’s advice has gotten less cryptic since he stopped lying
“The person I love the most... is you” Lmao didn’t Syaoran ALREADY do this confession in the final battle this is like in Naruto the Last where Naruto just forgot that Hinata had already said she loved him
Fdshkfjhkjdfhksjhfkjh wow Yukito appearing with a flower background and shine effect and softened face is this a style choice or is this just Toya Vision™
I think Toya’s voice IS different rest in pieces I still respect u bro
“How do I feel about Syaoran” [Pan across Syaoran in floral background] It is a style choice how very shojo manga of you
I’m really very confused by the references to Tokyo Tower bc I’m pretty sure they were battling at Tsukimine Shrine did I miss something??
No I just checked it was definitely at the shrine in the anime did THEY not check or were they like ‘hmmm not enough drama only Tokyo Tower for our battle backdrops pls’
This is the third or fourth flower backdrop in the first ten minutes jkhkdjhg the floral effect artists said ‘I WILL BE SILENT NO LONGER’:
Tumblr media
I DO NOT understand the chronology of this the bear exchange was the last scene in the anime is this before or after the finale???? If it’s after then why is Syaoran still in town
Rjhkjhgkj is the entire point of redoing this episode so Sakura could also give Syaoran a bear
“Toya was too embarrassed, so he had me bring it over and went back to his room” Lmao @ Toya sending his boyfriend to be nice to his sister in his place
If this show does not stop the floral cutaways I will not be able to take it seriously it is Ouran High School Host Club levels of intensity jdshfkjshdfkjhsdk
“Will you wait for me?” “Yes! I’ll wait! I’ll be waiting!” I think they threw out all continuity just so they could establish that these feelings were for sure mutual for the setup of the sequel series
That, or the original series so heavily discarded manga continuity that they are trying to walk it back to something more accurate without any real explanation
Rffkghkfghkdfhgkj if they’re referencing the original anime bear scene what was the point of that stupid prologue SO WHAT IS THE TRUTH
“My name is Mike. I’m from Portland” LOL references to Americans in anime are always so funny
“Now I can stay in Tomoeda forever” did u bring ur mom and sisters orrr
Gosh I’m actually quite thrown by how quickly this romance escalated it took them 57 episodes to just use each other’s first names and now it’s taken them one (1) episode to Commit 4Ever At Age 13
HAHAHA do they have smart phones now? Always on the cutting edge
“I Am a Stuffed Animal” some of the quirky captions ARE worth it
“Make sure you tell him... even the smallest things” Yue has become more of a romantic since he got closure and a part-time boyfriend
“I never knew! Thanks for telling me!” “Never change, Li-kun” kjhgkjhdkj STILL MY GULLIBLE BOY some things don’t ever change
Is that a dragon?? They are really expanding this magical universe
It bears repeating the polar opposite levels of pacing from the two shows it’s only episode one and they’ve already established so many new rules and powers
I don’t blame them for it though bc they have to put forward some kind of plot progression
There were so many visual effects in that scene I couldn’t even tell what was happening lmao it’s like reading manga battles
“But why are these things happening in Tomoeda again?” I mean not to point fingers but Syaoran’s arrival is fairly recent
“Did Wei-san come back with you” “No, just me. But he said he’d come to check on me in a while” HE’S 13?? CHILD. WELFARE. LAWS!!!!
“I wish that I could’ve used it as a reference” “For what?” “To make something that would look wonderful on you” LMAO now that Syaoran and Sakura are a thing He is Included in the outfits
“’Great to have you’ so you can do what?” don’t bully ur sister Toya, u r both happy with your respective relationships now
WHAT ARE THE STAKES OF KERO PRETENDING TO BE A PLUSHIE TOYA IS LITERALLY DATING THE MOON
I understood “Gale” but what exactly is a “Siege” card this feels a little abstract
“We managed to keep him in the dark” did u tho? Again. Moon boyfriend
“So it happened in her room” Did u put a protection spell on that bear or something Syaoran
I genuinely do not tire of Syaoran and Sakura’s shared gullibility this couple is morosexual solidarity
How convenient that Sakura’s new key just announces whenever there’s a new clear card to collect lmao
I meant what I said about Toya’s love language being touching Yukito somewhere above the shoulders
“You’ll find out when the time comes” Dfddjhfjkdhf Toya what are you going to DO
Two cards in one episode is quite a bit for ep 3 I guess they’re trying to give her some more fighting options lol
Is the implication of the way Sakura just happens to be coming across magical phenomenon that Clow Reed didn’t make his cards but just harnessed magic that existed in nature
For no reason other than my own suspicion I think that something funky is going on with Syaoran’s powers
“That person was almost the same height as me” I mean so was Eriol
“Sakura and the Lovely Transfer Student” we know by now transfer students mean that shit’s about to get real
“And then you slept with your belly uncovered” “I did not!” Toya’s gentle bullying to distract Sakura is always weirdly sweet
“Your brother is so funny Sakura” CHIHARU’S RIGHT STAN TOYA
SHINOMOTO ARE YOU SHITTING ME JHDFGHDGDFDD WHY DOES IT RHYME
“I hope we can be friends” if I know anything about this show this means she’s going to do something very shady immediately
I wonder if this will be the season that Tomoyo’s filming of everything Sakura does finally becomes plot relevant
I do think it’s weird that Sakura trusted a new key without questioning it
“I’m changing back” LOL @ YUE TRANSFORMING INTO YUKITO JUST TO AVOID PEOPLE I’M STARTING TO REALLY LIKE HIM
DGSJGSJDGDJGSFFSJDHJS YUKITO APOLOGIZING FOR YUE LEAVING RUDELY THAT’S MY POLITE AND HANDSOME MAN WHO HAS NEVER DONE ANYTHING WRONG IN HIS LIFE
I KNEW Syaoran was being suspicious!!! Talking about Sakura with Eriol in secret phone calls
“I came here to be ready for that time, when it comes” current theory is that Syaoran has NO powers and that’s why he is not running out of his classroom for teenage battles with the Forces of Nature
“How much has Yukito-san been eating?” “Not as much as he did when you were in elementary school, but he still eats a lot for his size” This must be a strange conversation for their dad to listen to but I like how this is code for Does Yukito Have Magical Chakra Exhaustion
“Um, I just... Phone call” said Sakura, as she was forcibly moonwalked away right in front of her friends’ eyes
LOL is Tomoyo being unable to film Sakura going to be a recurring joke
“Don’t worry about it” “I have to, when it’s about you” Syaoran really going Full Boyfriend Mode huh
I’ve never questioned it in until precisely this moment but who pays Kero’s phone bill?? Is it Tomoyo? Who is the account holder for this stuffed animal did she establish Kero as a legal person
“Momo-chan, let’s be friends okay?” I feel like this has to be immediate foreshadowing for Momo being alive
[Cucumber cut incorrectly] “Gotta show Yuki” hjkfhksjdhfkjhd rude of Toya but the caption kills me
Ddjkhfkjdhfjkdhfkjh the pure juxtaposition of this energy:
Tomoyo: They have other things to do
Chiharu, thinking that it’s a romance thing: [Winks]
Syaoran and Sakura: [In the shadows while threatening music plays]
“I didn’t feel... anything” oh NO why r their magic senses NOT tingling
I feel like I have been had, they had an episode called the “Song of the Moon” and Yukito didn’t even show up?? Rude
SCREAM this magical FaceTime call is much funnier than I could’ve imagined
“Yukito is in a recitation club, which he takes very seriously” GDGJFGJGJHGDG Yue very respectful of not occupying Yukito’s time with magical shenanigans LMAO
“And we’ll make them the cutest oxygen masks you’ve ever seen” Tomoyo, like the background effects artists in this anime, will not be stopped
Well colour me inaccurate I guess Syaoran can use his powers and he can do a fancy new sword thing
I like this flying scarf it’s the first of the new cards with a personality
Poor Syaoran always so serious to being a Teenage Wizard is hard
Wow I bet there’s NOTHING weird about the fact Akiho lives in Eriol’s house it’s just pure happenstance (said no one)
“Could we um, go out together?” I think this is the first time someone has explicitly scheduled a date in all 80+ episodes
I really do enjoy Toya’s never-ending list of temp jobs lmao
“Still going on, huh?” Toya’s older brother senses are unparalleled
LMAO IS THIS A 15 YEAR OLD BUTLER
Ghgjhfjfjhfjh what is the scale for these heights why is Kaito twice the height of these 13-year-olds
Unsubtle shot of this man’s pocket watch echoing Sakura’s dream
I’ve never seen a more Rich Person Reaction than Akiho getting upset that Katio, a service worker, stated that taking care of her was his job hfkjdhfkjh
“I came to Japan because there was a book I wanted”
1. VERY Rich Person thing to say
2. Wow I wonder which of you has a MAGICAL BOOK that’s been doing weird things lately
“What language is it” “I don’t know, but I’ve learned to read it” me when I hear people speak South Asian languages LMAO
Why does everyone keep referencing the Time That’s Coming? Toya, Syaoran, Eriol... they’ve all caught Mizuki’s affliction of vague and unhelpful prophecies
*One more go to jail Mizuki for the road
I hope that these stupid FaceTime calls with Yue are in EVERY episode from now on
Does the fact that he’s listed as Yue-san in Sakura’s phone mean that there’s a phone for each personality omg
OMG I just realized the ep title (Sakura’s Thrilling Aquarium Visit) must be a throwback to “Sakura’s Heart-Racing First Date” which was not a date but took place at an aquarium. Cute!!
GJHGSHJGFSGH Yue is me whenever people talk about video games:
Kero: Hey, Yue, play an online game with me
Yue: [Hangs up immediately]
“I made you wait” “Nah, I got here too early. It’s still twelve minutes before our meeting time.” I think she and Yukito had this exact exchange in that early ep
“She doesn’t have magical powers, but she’s oddly perceptive” I hope that Meilin’s one and only magical power is precognition lmao
Omg every time someone in this show speaks English I am so thrown
“I wasn’t sure how I should look at him” awww Syaoran trying to re-establish himself in the family
I guess this aquarium HAS changed in that it developed a security system for when the tank breaks [youknowwhathatisgrowth.gif]
LOL I guess it’s convenient to have an invisibility cloak when ur breaking and entering I was wondering how they were going to deal with their criminal behaviour in the age of cameras
Ep 10. Sakura’s Unbelievable Juvenile Detention Centre
Weel weel weel looks like Sakura isn’t the only one with new powers nice ice Syaoran!! I missed their tag team fights
OH MY GOD IF THIS PHOTO ALBUM ACCEPTS THE CONTINUITY OF THE SECOND MOVIE THEN SAKURA AND SYAORAN HAVE ALREADY! DONE! THEIR! CONFESSIONS! WOULD YOU PICK A LANE
“You want the person you like to eat good food” Besides the fact Kaito is twice your height and therefore probably an adult... u should not make advances on people u employ - this is all very bad-vibes-no-jutsu
I am shocked that it took this long for Sakura to notice that her new cards paralleled the old cards
Syaoran is staring at Kaito like he murdered his spouse in a previous life
“So he has Moon magic too?” UHHHH WAS SYAORAN’S MAGIC ALWAYS MOON-BASED I FEEL LIKE THAT’S NOT CLEAR
Also very unclear why Eriol keeps leaving her on read if he’s talking to Syaoran what
I love how Kero has independent friendships and communications with both Yukito and Tomoyo lmao
How many times has Penguin Park been destroyed by now
“Perhaps your dream is gradually progressing” Progressing into what exactly the Battle of the Nice Thirteen-Year-Olds
Why is it that magic in this universe comes with above-average athletic ability LOL
Once again, without a body/personification, these cards seem harsh
Kaito seems like too much of a red herring a la Mizuki so I’m going to assume the other presence we see is someone we either haven’t met yet or smth really fucked up with the rest of the main cast
I’d lose my mind if it was Toya but I genuinely hope not he’s too nice
I honestly missed Meilin ever since she chilled out a bit she’s very fun
“The emoji in her message definitely looked thrilled” [Bob Dylan voice] For the times they are a-changin’.....
“I don’t know when it’ll happen, but when it does you’ll know” Toya.......
Toya’s absolutely nonplussed reaction to his Moon Boyfriend never ceases to amaze
Yukito: [Sighs and floats into the air to wrap in a wing cocoon]
Toya: [Sitting and staring unfazed]
Also am I crazy or was that transformation on purpose bc it really had the energy of ‘Fine if you won’t talk to me maybe you’ll talk to Rude Magical Me!!’
“Did I change again?” GUESS NOT LMAO
Also it’s fun how as different as Yukito and Yue are, their shared brain cell says ‘TOYA COMMUNICATE WITH MEE’
“But ever since Syaoran came back, he’s had something important on his mind” People don’t give Sakura enough credit for her emotional intelligence
Can we take a minute to appreciate Sakura’s outfit fashion ICON
What is this Furry card that makes u dress up in ears and a tail lmao
“I’ll treasure [these cookies]” “I’d rather you ate them” LOL
My Furry card prediction gets more and more accurate with each passing second (even a broken clock’s right twice a day)
Uhhhhh Syaoran what did u sell to the moon devil to be able to cut through the space-time continuum
Sakura: NO THAT’S MY EMOTIONAL SUPPORT SYAORAN
SCREAM this family and their circle of hair cutting (also if Yukito cuts Toya’s hair, does Toya cut Yukito’s? Or does it not grow bc magic jfhkfh)
“I’m pretty sure that was middle school English” Sakura hearing English is me hearing French LMAO
“Sucks, doesn’t he?” MEILIN PLS
Djhfjkdhkjfhjk Tomoyo’s immediate rage at being the centre of attention
SAKURA DOING MAGIC RIGHT IN FRONT OF OTHER PEOPLE OMG
“Surround the entire mansion” Very subtle Sakura I’m sure no one in your whole town will notice
“I hear her father specializes in archaeology, so he might have some interesting books” “Have I mentioned Sakura-san’s father to you before?” [Dramatic cut in music] WELL
Oh my GOD did Kaito just turn back time bc he regretted what he said immediately? Honestly a mood
Also: BITCH
“You’re so alike, and not just because of your names” I have to say I’ve been thinking since her first appearance that Akiho looks like Nadeshiko so if they’re not related I will be surprised
“Sometimes watching good people makes me feel sad” well damn Meilin
I’m going to guess this Teenage Robot is the equivalent of the fight card that Meilin fought upon her introduction
Aw HELL YEAH SAKURA AND MEILIN TAG TEAM FIGHT WOOOO
“Aren’t you and Syaoran doing too much for those you care about, and forgetting to care about yourselves?” WELL DAMN MEILIN U R THE NEW TEENAGE SUPERHERO THERAPIST
“Can I call you ‘Sakura’ from now on, too?” AHHH THESE KIDS
LMAO AMAZING IT TOOK 13 STRAIGHT EPISODES FOR MOMO TO EVEN TWITCH
“We are indeed progressing... toward that time” I feel THREATENED
Once again I cannot stress strongly enough how much I love physical comedy
Sakura: They don’t seem to be causing any harm
The dessert rolls:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
GOD the roll cakes eating each other to form one giant monster Babushka doll roll cake jhfjkdhgkdjhgkj incredible
EXCUSE ME MA’AM WHY WAS THERE A DEMON GIRL IN THE REFLECTION OF THIS SHATTERED CARD
“Please laugh again” Akiho is v nice I really hope Kaito isn’t mean
“Once a magical contract is formed, it can’t be broken, unless something really serious happens” [Quirrel voice] Can anyone tell me what foreshadowing is?
“What do you feel” “I think it’s a card” Very observant Sakura I think they gathered that
When Sakura gets all four of the base elements is Momo going to turn into a 200 pound giant rabbit
I like that every time Toya is concerned about Sakura, Yue appears suddenly to discuss the matter seriously with him [Gay and Wondorous Life of Caleb Gallo voice] He’s in this relationship!!
“When you’re angry or upset, it shows on your face, even if you don’t say it” Yue IS in this relationship woooow
“When humans realize they’re talking to a fox, they won’t sell you mittens. In fact, they’ll catch you and put you in a cage.” UH who is the fox in this metaphor not Sakura I hope???
Years later Syaoran is still winded if Sakura makes too much eye contact khgkghkjg
The fact that Yukito reads at a children’s hospital... truly one of The Nicest Not-Humans On Earth
Well with each passing episode we have less and less reasons to trust these cards and Kaito the Young Magical Butler
Ever since Kaito reversed time, I cannot shake the persistent thought that Akiho IS Nadeshiko. That’d be weird but u know... I’ve seen this show do weirder
“Your sweets look better” “No, yours!” Grandpa witnessing this date
“Also if Sakura-chan goes to college or wants to do something else, he wants to help” TOYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
“Any further, and you won’t be able to return” NADESHIKO BE MORE SPECIFIC
“It was my robe” Wait what ur family is a magical society or smth and somehow u don’t know Akiho??? How in the whomst
Everyone in this anime is like, ‘Haha Yue looks mad’ as if Yue does not look mad every second that he’s alive
KHKJHKFJHKJFHJ GRANDPA MASAKI REALLY GONNA GIVE SAKURA A HOUSE AND TOYA NOTHING LMAO WHAT’S IT LIKE TO BE THE LEAST FAVOURITE GREAT-GRANDCHILD LOL
“Nadeshiko would talk to things that weren’t there, and try to reach an understanding with things that couldn’t talk” 91 EPISODES LATER AND MR. KINOMOTO FINALLY ACKNOWLEDGES MAGIC?? OKAY
AND HE KNEW BOTH SAKURA AND TOYA HAVE HAD MAGICAL PROBLEMS FOR 3 YEARS!!! MR. KINOMOTO WHAT KIND OF HANDS-OFF PARENTING
“I want me to tell me [about your pain] too” wow this is the CALL-OUT EPISODE
“The house they live in was once torn down and replaced with an amusement park” were the continuity errors of accepting the second movie... A PLOT POINT?!?!?!
DAMN U KAITO I REALLY WANTED THINGS TO BE OKAY FOR AKIHO
“But I’ve got a great poker face” “Yes you do. But Yue does not” JKHDKJGHKJSHGKJHDKJGHSDJGHKJH BY DIALOGUE ALONE IT’S LIKE WHENEVER ANYONE SEES YUE’S FACE TWITCH IT MEANS HE’S HAVING AN EMOTIONAL BREAKDOWN
Yue: Evil magic looming overhead is bad for your wifi signal actually
“I will obtain these new cards. So I can use the relic I took from the association to activate that magic spell” Kaito really laying out his motivations out loud in a library. Insensible. Vague and probably misleading. 1/10 villainous monologue
Sakura’s powers are WILD she can duplicate the strength of her magic
“Power that’s too strong will bring unhappiness to its owner” SYAORAN :((
I feel like the only way this can end is Toya giving Sakura magical noogie so she doesn’t have to carry all of her powers like the reverse of what he did for Yue-kito
THERE IS TOO LITTLE TIME LEFT IN THIS SHOW FOR ALL THE ANSWERS I NEED THERE’S ONLY 20 MINUTES AHHHH
THERE ARE 12 MINUTES LEFT AND STILL NO ANSWERS!!! WHAT HAPPENSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
I GOT ABSOLUTELY NO ANSWERS OH MY GOD?!?!?!?!

A Reason to Celebrate (Nakamichi wedding)
(CONGRATS TO @frogmoji!!! I really wanted to write something for you! You’re honest to god one of my best and oldest friends, and I love you very very much! I hope this works! Have a beautiful wedding, and I’ll stay tuned!!) ---- It wasn't often they had something to celebrate. Abe looked at themself in the reflection of the glass cabinet that housed the Menagerie of Dr. Macabre's more delicate displays. Chemically preserved eyes stared through their jars, past the reflection, and met Abe's gaze with a sort of milky recognition. The tent's keeper blinked and looked down to their buttons again. They liked to think the jar's inhabitants; dead things, unusual things, were looking at her with a sense of approval. It was like their preparation for the big day was part of some 90s movie montage and instead of stepping out of a dressing room to face a sea of their closest friends, they were presenting their new look to an old pickling jar containing a two headed shark baby. Abe laughed at the thought. They needed to get out of Bartholomew Oswalt's Infinite Bazaar more often. The fair did funny things to your sense of humor. So, of course, the only thing to do about it was go to the circus down the road. They had heard someone once say that circuses and carnivals were the same creatures, but Abe had to disagree. If a circus was a dog, the fair was a raccoon or something. It was nice to visit one's relatives, especially on such an important day.
It wasn't that they didn't celebrate at the fair. In fact, the carnies celebrated all the time, with parties and shouting matches and extravagant bets on the outer limits of the human body, but there was never any good reason for any of it, but today was going to be different. Not that Abe participated all that often. The Menagerie took up most of their free time, and any moment they weren't scheduled to be operating some rickety death trap, they were most likely tending to the fair's meager scientific collection. Ever since Oswalt had decided to invest in living specimens, domesticated animals harboring the rare, minor mutation interspersed with general creepy crawlies, as well as dead, the Menagerie had needed more and more attention. While Abe's official job description was rides operator, they had been quick to jump on the offer. Anything to do with science, anything to even suggest their degree wasn't useless. The other carnies were thankful, especially the titular Dr. Macabre, or Brian, as they knew him. As long as Abe was maintaining the collection, they could stay the hell away from it. Abe didn't mind much. They never liked sharing projects.
But the Menagerie was going to have to hold its own for tonight. Abe had asked off weeks in advance, the very second they had gotten the invitation. The paper sat against the edge of the cabinet, crumpled from where Kero had shoved it into their hands. Wedding of the century, it said, with a big top smack dab in the middle. It was cute. Kero wouldn't have it any other way. Abe's lips twitched into a smile at the thought. They had been so happy when they told them they were getting married. It never crossed Abe's mind that their friend would ever tie the knot, but the second the engagement had been announced, it was as if they and Arlequino had been engaged for years. When Abe went back to earlier memories, the ring was grafted in. Abe was certain that following today, they wouldn't be able to dream of a time where the pair were not Kero and Arlequino Pierrot.
"Knock knock." Abe glanced up. A figure stood silhouetted in the tent's opening, filling all but the upper third. They grinned, and the fair's mechanic smiled back. "Glad to see I ain't too late. Yer still getting ready." "Almost done, Dell, hang on," Abe said, turning back to their reflection. They finished buttoning up the somewhat wrinkled dress shirt. Brian had been kind enough to loan it to them. As a performer, he had a better variety of outfits than they did, and he was always happy to help. Dell walked up from behind them, leaning against a display table containing different sorts of spiders. The Texan eyed them warily for a moment before moving to an ornamental bookshelf on Abe's left.
"Thems Brian's clothes?" "Yeah," Abe said, struggling with the borrowed tie. "My only pair of dress pants got fucked up in the wash. Just got my uniform. Pretty sure Arle would kill me if I showed up to his big day wearing cargo shorts." "Oh, I betcha they wouldn't," he drawled. "Row boat'd say yer addin' a little... little grit to the ceremony. That crowd could use a lil' grit in some situation like this. Gonna look like a debutante ball in there, just a little weirder." Abe smiled. Dell's ability to jump from 'Kero' to 'Row Boat' still astounded them.
"Is that why you're wearing that suit?" Dell looked down. His face, tanned by the sun, flushed at the cheeks. He was wearing a suit alright. It was white, and Abe could not fathom why the hell a mechanic for the dustiest carnival around would own something so pristine. "Ain't nothin' wrong with my suit." "You look like Colonel Sanders." "Why are you so goddamn mean to me?" Abe snorted a bit, but backed off. Dell leaned back again and let them struggle with their tie for a moment longer before sitting upright. "C'mere. Lemme help you..."
Abe leaned forwards. As Dell began to fix the moth-eaten tie, they couldn't help but watch his hands. He had lost his right one years ago, long before he came to work for the fair. This wasn't too unusual, the average carnie had something missing, but what made Dell unique was his prosthetic. It was beautiful, intricate, and perfectly sophisticated. What's more, he claimed he made it himself. Strange, considering that he had told Abe he had dropped out of high school at sixteen. Abe found themself doubting him, but not in the way they would have expected. They had watched them work before. Dell was brilliant, the smartest person Abe knew, but why lie? Then again, why not? Secrets were more common around these parts than limbs weren't, and any one of them had their reasons to lie. But today wasn't about lies.
"There we go..." Dell murmured once he finished. He sat back and gave Abe space to look at themself. "You wear ties often?" "Have you ever seen me in one?" they asked, putting on Brian's old, velvet jacket. Dell's smile softened. "Guess not. But I gotta say, they suit'cha mighty well. You should wear 'em more often. Should'ya get the chance."
Abe blushed, and Dell had the decency not to call attention to it. They picked at a loose thread on their coat and tried to find their next words. The sentences wouldn't come easy. Abe and Dell had known each other for years, but this... this was still new. It had only been a few weeks since they had decided to tiptoe away from 'just friends' together.
"Thanks for agreeing to come with me." "Oh, wouldn't miss it fer the world," he said. "Love weddings, and I'm tickled pink to know they're finally gettin' hitched." Dell took a step closer to Abe, and when that was received well, carefully slipped an arm around their waist. Again, he chose not to acknowledge the way they blushed and hoped to God Abe would do the same.
"Now, look at us. Ain't we a sight." Abe leaned into Dell very slightly. If they were a sight, it was an unusual one. Dell in his white suit and bolo tie, Abe in a wine-colored velvet jacket, but it worked. Somehow, it all worked.
“Are you ready, Abe?" he asked. "Think so, I- wait!" Abe pulled away, and Dell let them pass through his grasp. They began to search through boxes and crates, muttering to themself until they stood, holding a jar, with a triumphant 'aha!'. Dell squinted as he looked inside.
"Is that a damn..." "Pink bullfrog!" Abe said proudly. "For Kero! Some kids brought it in two stops back." Dell knelt down, resting his hands against his knees, and took a better look at the critter turned wedding present. "Well, he certainly is big." "And pink." "And pink. Now, c'mon Abe, it just looks like y'rubbed some highlighter on that poor thing." "I know," they said, pulling the jar back protectively, "But honest to god, that's its skin. I've got no idea why it's like that, but I just hope they like it." "Certain they will... Oh, and I got the music box."
Dell pulled a small, ornately decorated box from within his suit pocket. It had come from a tent three stops down, the one depicting the 'tragic, mysterious story of a murdered duchess'. Abe wasn't sure if any of 'artifacts' they kept truly belonged to late Madame Adeline, but if they were, this one certainly didn't. Some kid wound the music box too tightly and busted something inside. They were just about to throw it away before Abe snagged it and asked Dell to fix it. That was when they asked if he wanted to come along.
"Still think it sounds creepy?" they asked, taking it from Dell's calloused hands. "Think it sounds annoyin'. Must've listened to it a hundred times while fixin it'." “As long as Arle doesn't think so."
Abe put the gift in their pocket. That was the great thing about fair performer's clothes: you were never in want for pockets. They even managed to slip the bullfrog into their coat with only a slight lump to give it away.
"You think he's scared?" they asked. Dell chuckled. "Nah. Reckon he thinks he's scared, but he'll be just so damn excited you wouldn't believe. Kero's a good'un. They'll be fine together. But we're gonna have to get a move on iffin we ever hope to see it!"
Abe grinned and took half a second to fix their coat in the reflection once again. The jar's inhabitants grinned blankly back at them and watched giddily as Dell offered his arm and lead them out of the Menagerie. It was a big day. Spring was here, the skies were clear, and Kero and Arlequino were finally reaching their happily ever after.
What better reason to celebrate than that?"

Happy Monday everyone!!
This week I am reading:
Tokyo Ghoul:re Volume 3 by Sui Ishida
The Complete Sherlock Holmes Volume 1 by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo
and Gemina by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
And I got to finish:
Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
Tokyo Ghoul Volume 14 and Tokyo Ghoul:re Volumes 1 and 2 by Sui Ishida
Tokyo Ghoul:re is really starting to pick up! I’m thoroughly enjoying the new arc that we’re in as we look into the Nutcracker Ghoul. We’re getting lots of character depth and development and I’m so excited to continue reading.
I made progress in Sherlock Holmes! I’m reading “A Scandal in Bohemia”, which I read in high school and loved a lot, so it’s nice being able to reconnect with a familiar story.
Crooked Kingdom is possibly my most highly anticipated book this week! I absolutely loved Six of Crows much, much more than I expected too. I had hope since it’s so Tumblr famous, but, while the Shadow and Bone trilogy was extremely good, it didn’t leave me super excited for the rest of the books in the GrishaVerse. However Six of Crows blew me absolutely out of the water, so I am on the edge of my seat to read it alongside @books-take-flight for our book club.
And Gemina is progressing well. I was avoiding it a little while I write my Illuminae review. But I’ve made quite a bit of progress with that, so I’ve been trying to read Gemina a bit more freely. The plot has started to pick up, so it’s going to be a lot easier to go through this reread.
And as for the books that I finished, I absolutely ADORED Six of Crows! The characters were absolutely amazing and had so so many layers to analyze and the plot was so beautifully done! All the perspectives we get carried their own individual plotlines that only add to the the larger story. And I am absolutely obsessed with the characters!! Every time I find a favorite, I can’t commit, simply because they’re all great in their own way. I keep bouncing between Kaz, Inej, and Wylan (though Jesper has snuck into the lineup more than once). Even the characters that weren’t a “favorite” of mine are so amazing and well thought out that I can’t help but love them!
And Tokyo Ghoul is, as always, keeping me on the edge of my seat! The finale for the first series was fast paced and absolutely wonderful, but what I loved the most was starting the sequel: Tokyo Ghoul:re. I had a hard time with the anime for the one, since focusing is something I struggle with a lot and the art style change threw me off guard a bit, so I really wanted to start the manga to help reinforce my memory and understanding of the plot. What immediately caught me off guard was the beautiful color pages in Volume 1, they are absolutely gorgeous but also very brightly colored, that combined with Haise’s adorable facial expressions, it’s so easy to start off the series forgetting the heavy plotlines that Tokyo Ghoul is known for. But the story picks up fast and I’m so glad I’m getting to read these before the first DVD comes out and I try the anime again. I’m already feeling a better connection to the new characters (especially Shirazu) and a better understanding of each of them.
Please expect the Illuminae review up soon, I’m sorry for the delay. I’m a bit nervous to post a review for the first time, so I’ve been too overwhelmed to go all at it like I meant to, but I’ve come to realize that no matter what, I probably won’t like the first review. So I’m just going to do my best and hope that future reviews are more to my standard, please be patient with me! I’ve been putting aside a little time each day to focus on this, so it not only gets done but doesn’t feel so big and overwhelming to me.
But Happy Reading everyone!! Hope you all have a good week!

Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card Arc Chapter 22 Translation
Hi everyone! Thanks for your patience with the chapter translation this time, especially when it’s such a big one.  Some of you know, but I’ve been having a very difficult few weeks and have been running around a lot these past 3 days and will be for the next week as well. I really appreciate your patience! :) The CCS events have really been helping keep me busy in a positive way though, so that’s been great.
I translated this really quickly when I got access to the chapter and haven’t proofread as carefully as I normally try to, so if I find out later that there were any typos, I’ll repost with those. Thanks again for understanding in advance!
[EDIT] Sorry it looks like the airport wifi messed up the formatting and the wifi on the plane will be broken... :( I will correct it when I land.
[EDIT #2] I’m finally back on solid ground and have updated the post.  Sorry for the delay and weird formatting!  Also, due to a couple typos and one mistitled line, I’ll be posting a quick update shortly.
☆★Translations Notes Reminder★☆
Disclaimer: These are just fan translations. Please support the official release.
Chapter 22
Cover Page: “Let’s always, always and forever be close with one another.”
P1 Touya:  I’m home. Fujitaka:  <on phone> What!? She collapsed!? Fujitaka:  Oh, she came to soon after.  I see.  That’s a relief. Fujitaka:  Okay, I understand. Fujitaka:  Please take care of her.  (I will talk to you later.)
[Lit: 「失礼します」or “Excuse me/Goodbye.”]
Touya: You said… Sakura collapsed?
P2 Fujitaka: Yes.  But it seems they had a doctor look at her right away and she’s alright. Touya:  She was mixed-up in something again… Fujitaka:  Hm? Touya:  She went to mom’s grandfather’s place, right? Fujitaka:  That’s right. Fujitaka:  Because he has something to give to Sakura-san. Fujitaka:  One of the two (things) is really huge, so I asked him (not to give it to her) for now. Touya:  <quietly> Large?
P3 Fujitaka:  It’s the house she’s visiting right now. Fujitaka:  It seems it was one of Nadeshiko-san’s favorite (summer homes), and (he) wanted to leave it to Sakura-san. Touya:  To a middle schooler? Fujitaka:  Yes, but he gave up on that for (me). Touya:  Does great-grandpa look like mom?
P4 Fujitaka:  I wonder… I think that (they have the same) eyes though.
[Lit: I think that their eyes are similar though.]
Fujitaka:  According to Sonomi-san, Nadeshiko-san looked exactly like her grandmother. Fujitaka:  Touya-kun, he wanted to meet you too… (that) Masaki-san. Touya:  If the timing works out… Fujitaka:  You’re being shy? <Text reads: “Bull’s eye”>
P5 Fujitaka: You might look alike. Touya:  Hm? Fujitaka: Masaki-san and you. Touya: <pointing to himself> Me? Fujitaka:  We should line the two of you up next to each other and compare. Fujitaka:  You’re related by blood so it makes sense that you would look alike. Touya:  I’ve recently been thinking that Mom and Sakura look similar too. Fujitaka:  I think so too. Fujitaka:  Their smiles are growing more and more similar.  And also…
P6 Fujitaka:  (Their mysterious abilities too.)
[Lit: That mysteriousness about them too.]
Touya:  Huh? Fujitaka:  Nadeshiko-san was a (strange) person who could talk to (things that weren’t) there and understand the feelings of things that can’t speak.
[Lit: “Nadeshiko was a myterious person who could talk to something that wasn’t…”]
Fujitaka:  But that’s the same as you, Touya-kun.
P7 Touya: Didn’t you ever think it wasn’t believable? Fujitaka:  Not at all. But I’m not the kind of person who senses or hear things, so it was a little lonely. Fujitaka:  I can’t (see or hear them) for Sakura-san either.
[Lit: I can’t give Sakura-san my understanding either.]
P8 Touya:  …You knew? Fujitaka:  Nothing specific. Fujitaka:  But I knew that it wasn’t something I could resolve and I realized to some degree there were many difficult things happening since she was (about) in the 4th grade. Touya:  Dad, (as expected) you’re amazing. Fujitaka:  What is? Touya:  The fact that you realized something was going on, but let her act freely without asking her about it.
P9 Fujitaka: Because it’s Sakura-san after all. Fujitaka: She’s someone who cherishes herself and those around her. Fujitaka: Plus, whatever happens, she has a wonderful older brother too. Touya: (That goes for you too, dad.)
[Lit: “And you too, dad.” – The nuance here is that Fujitaka is here for Sakura too.]
Fujitaka: Well, I’m not (very helpful) right now…
[Lit: I’m a bit helpless right now.]
P10 Fujitaka: <looking at Nadeshiko’s photo> There’s surely a reason why Nadeshiko-san hasn’t (appeared) lately as well. Touya:  What? Fujitaka:  (It’s nothing.) Fujitaka:  I was just thinking how happy I am to have such a great wife and kids. <Scene changes to Masaki’s house>
P11 Sakura:  I’m alright now.  The doctor just now said nothing was wrong too. Masaki:  But… Sakura:  There was something you wanted to give me, right? Masaki:  Oh, that’s right. Can you wait for me for a moment? Sakura:  Okay! Syaoran:  You’re not pushing yourself, are you? Sakura:  Not at all.  I’m sorry for making you worry too, Syaoran-kun. Syaoran:  I’m fine.  But, really… If you’re in pain or are hurting even just a little bit, please tell me. Don’t hide it.
P12 Sakura: You too, Syaoran-kun. Syaoran: Huh? Sakura: I want you to not keep things hidden and tell me. <Masaki re-enters the room>
P13 Sakura:  A box? Masaki:  Please open it up. <Sakura finds a pendant-like clock inside>
P14 Sakura:  A clock? Masaki:  It’s something that Nadeshiko always treasured ever since she was a young girl. Masaki:  My wife and I - Nadeshiko’s grandmother - brought it back from overseas. Sakura: From where? Masaki:  From England. Syaoran:  <thinking> England… the place Hiiragizawa is now.
P15 Syaoran:  And that person too…
[Note: Syaoran isn’t saying Kaito is in England, but is just making the connection that both he and Eriol have roots there.]
<Scene changes to Yue’s house; Eriol suddenly appears like a hologram above the photo of Clow’s magic symbol on Kero’s smartphone>
P16 Eriol:  It’s been a while, Cerberus. Kero:  Indeed it has.  Because you haven’t been replying to us. Kero:  We’re pretty ticked off about it. Eriol:  I can understand that very well.  Especially from (the expression) on Yue’s face…
P17 Kero:  Sending an image of your magic circle and appearing in this form must mean… Yue:  You’re ready to tell us (what’s going on). Eriol:  Yes. Yue:  Explain everything.  What is happening to our mistress?
P18 Eriol:  The thing I’ve been fearing the most is (occurring).
[Lit: …most is becoming reality.]
<Scene changes to the Amamiya residence again>
P19 Sakura:  I’m sorry for making you worry. Masaki:  I’m sorry too, for (calling you out here) so suddenly. Thank you both. Syaoran: <bowing> Thank you for having us. Masaki:  Please come visit again. Sakura:  Okay! Sakura: I will treasure mom’s clock.
P20 Masaki: <to Syaoran> Please take care of Sakura-chan. Syaoran: <surprised, but then determined> …I will.
P21 Kero:  You mean that magician who’s with Akiho? Yue:  Did you ask the Magician’s Society? Eriol:  More or less. Eriol:  Well for the most part there were no responses, but one answer did come back clear. Eriol:  It was that “Yuna D. Kaito was excommunicated one year ago.”
P22 Kero:  From that society? Kero:  It’s that kind of crazy place where as long as you have strong magic and carry out the society’s requests, for the most part you’ll go unquestioned… Kero: What did he do to be excommunicated from there!? Eriol:  I don’t know. Eriol:  But (my search took a different route).
[Lit: But I tried searching a different route.]
Eriol: The Li Clan assisted me. Eriol: It seems he was excommunicated for losing a (magical tool enshrined by) the Magician’s Society.
[Note: 門外不出 means “to treasure something by never removing it from the premises”. I decided to go with “enshrined” as it sounds simpler, but the literal translation would be: “It seems he was excommunicated for losing a magical tool that was not to be removed from the Magician Society’s premises.”]
P23 Kero:  What!? Lost?? How incompetent of him!! Eriol:  It’s what they’re saying (to cover it up). Eriol: He absconded with it. So it’s a complete lie. Yue: Can something like that be forgiven? Eriol: There’s no way it can be forgiven.
P24 Eriol:  It can’t be returned. Eriol:  Because no one can win against a Magician who has (earned) the Title of “D”. Eriol:  It was a magic tool kept hidden by that society.  It’s likely that it was taboo to come into contact with it.
[Lit: 「おそらく『禁忌』に触れるものだろう」 so it could also be “it was taboo to touch”]
Eriol:  The society fears his power and that he might use that tool, so they’re unable to take action.
P25 Yue:  So, he’s (that) strong? Eriol: If you mean stronger than I am now, that’s a yes. <Both Kero and Yue react with concern>
P26 Yue:  And (our) mistress… Yue:  What about… our mistress… Eriol:  Sakura is…
P27 Eriol:  She was able to collect the scattered Clow Cards and return them to their card forms, as well as change all of them into cards that draw from her own magic.
P28 Eriol:  However, it seems (even) that wasn’t enough to finish things. Narration:  The truth about the past that Eriol knows is…!?

Chapter 13
Color Spread Caption:  I hope I can be friends with everyone forever.
P1 Sakura:  This is… Syaoran:  This isn't natural wind, is it. Sakura:  Yeah, it's got to be a card again...
P2 Sakura:  Release!! Sakura:  Secure!! Sakura:  Kyaa!!
P3 Sakura:  I’ve been closed in… Sakura:  What should I do?
P4 Syaoran:  Wind, come forth! [Lit: Fuuka Shourai!]
P5 Syaoran:  Just as I thought, this magic [Lit: technique] won’t work… Syaoran:  <quietly mutters an intelligible spell>
P6 <Syaoran breaks through and releases Sakura> Syaoran:  Sakura!  Change it into a card! Sakura:  Y-yes!
P7 Sakura: You who is without a master, by (the power of) this staff of dreams, I command you to become my strength. <Sakura seals the new card: Spiral>
P8 Syaoran:  Are you okay? Sakura:  Yeah… Syaoran-kun, you saved me. Syaoran: … Sakura:  Ah! Sakura:  The bento!! Syaoran:  Ah!! <Later> Tomoyo:  Oh no, so the bento ended up… Sakura:  Everything got flipped over when that happened.  In the end, we just ate hamburgers from the Botanical Garden. <quietly> The burgers were delicious…
P9 Kero:  The brat got to eat a little bit though, right? Sakura:  Yeah, he had a little bit. Kero:  What did he say? Sakura:  <blushing> He said “It’s delicious”… Tomoyo:  It’s too bad about the bento, but that’s great (that he said that). Kero:  You can make one again too. Tomoyo:  That’s true. Sakura:  Yeah! Next time, I’ll try even harder.
P10 Sakura:  I need to get ready to make dinner soon. Tomoyo: Ah, I’m sorry to have kept you! Sakura:  No, today both dad and onii-chan aren’t here, and I’m alone… Kero:  I’m here too!! Sakura: …So I can take my time making whatever I want. Kero:  You can make whatever I want too!! Sakura:  <quietly> I know. Tomoyo:  Shall I come over and help you? Sakura:  You’re going out with Sonomi-san today, right? Don’t worry about it. Tomoyo:  Then, next time! Sakura:  Yeah! Later <Sakura hangs up>
P11 <Phone ringing again> Sakura:  Wah!! <Later the doorbell rings> Sakura:  Yes? Akiho:  Hello!
P12 Sakura: Welcome! Akiho:  Is it really okay (for me to come over) at this hour? Sakura:  Of course!  Come in, come in! Akiho:  It smells good. Sakura:  I tried my best because you were coming over.  You'll have something to eat right? Akiho: Won't it take a while? Sakura:  Doing it alone was a little lonely, so I'd be happy!
P13 Sakura:  Have you told Kaito-san? Akiho:  Yes! I told him. Ah! Akiho:  This is from Kaito-san. He said to eat this with everyone! Sakura:  Thank you.  (Dinner) will be done in just a short while. Akiho-chan, will you help me? Akiho: Yes! Akiho: Is it alright here? Sakura:  Yeah!  Are you okay with onion? Akiho:  I like them.
P14 Sakura:  Is there anything you don’t like (to eat)? Akiho:  Not really… Akiho:  Ah! Akiho:  I don’t really care for konjac jelly… Sakura:  Is that so! ? Akiho:  It’s not that konjac is that bad, but the texture… Sakura:  Me too! Akiho:  Huh?
P15 Sakura:  I can’t eat konjac jelly! Akiho:  You too, Sakura-san!? Sakura:  It’s okay! Sakura:  Even if we don’t care for konjac, the people we care for will eat ours for us. Sakura:  For me, that’s probably onii-chan. Akiho: Come to think of it, Kaito-san also likes konjac. <Text behind them reads “Yeah… we’re probably okay…”>
P16 Sakura:  If that so, then we're definitely okay. Akiho:  Yes! Kero:  <From behind the door> What kind of problem is that!! Sakura:  I hope everything tastes alright. [Lit: It's would be nice if I made this well.] Sakura:  Bon appetit! Akiho:  I'm digging in.
P17 Akiho:  It's really delicious! Sakura:  I'm glad.  I've made this several times and I tested the flavor, but I was a little bit nervous. Akiho:  It has a very mellow taste.  But I have a feeling the beef stew I ate overseas was a little different. Sakura:  There's a little bit of miso in this. Akiho:  A hidden flavor! Sakura:  It's nothing too grand, but my brother taught me how to do it. Akiho:  So everyone in your family cooks? Sakura:  Yes!  We take turns.
P18 Sakura:  When I was little, I wasn't good at making things that used a lot of oil, but I've gotten better at it since becoming a junior high student. Akiho:  You made this too? Sakura:  Yeah.  I'm still practicing that one too though. Akiho: <to herself> It's delicious! Sakura:  Do the people in your family cook? Akiho:  Everyone in my family is busy... So (we've/I've) always left things up to the people who care for (us/me). Sakura:  Like Kaito-san? Akiho:  Yes.
P19 Sakura:  That's really amazing. Akiho:  It's not amazing! Akiho:  I do what I can.  You're (and your family) are much more amazing, Sakura-san.
[Note: Akiho says this to mean “You and your family are much more amazing because you do your own thing by yourselves.”]
Sakura:  That's not true.  I've also only learned (from others) and gotten help. Akiho:  If it's not too much trouble, Sakura-san, would you please teach me how to cook!? Sakura:  Eh!?
P20 Sakura: B-but… I’m not great at it… And what’s more, Kaito-san would be able to teach you much better than I could… Akiho:  I want to become good at it without letting Kaito-san know. Sakura:  Is it that… you want Kaito-san to eat what you’ve made? Sakura:  I understand that feeling.
P21 Sakura:  You want the person you like to eat something delicious. Akiho:  Yeah… Sakura:  Then, let’s get good (at this) together! Akiho:  Together?
P22 Sakura:  I'm also still practicing, so let's do our best together. Akiho:  Yes! Sakura:  Would you like some more beef stew? Akiho:  I'll have some!
P23 <Akiho starts to get sleepy because of the fluffball> Akiho:  I'm sorry! Sakura:  Did you (have trouble) sleeping last night? Akiho:  No, it's nothing like that. Akiho:  H-huh? Sakura:  Akiho-chan!
P24 Kero: WHAT HAPP….<realized Akiho was there and got quieter>…ened?! Sakura:  She fell asleep suddenly Kero:  What, really? [Lit: What did you say?]
P25 Sakura:  That! Kero: What? [Lit: Which?] <Sakura reaches for the object> Kero: That fluffy thing caused her to fall asleep? Sakura: I think so. Sakura:  I’ve gotta do something about that or else Akiho-chan will stay asleep… Kero:  Gotcha. We’ve gotta do something.
P26 Sakura:  I'll definitely turn it into a card. Sakura:  Wait for me, Akiho-chan. <Sakura starts to chase the fluffball> Sakura:  Wait!
P27 <Sakura and Kero chase the fluffball through the house>
P28 & 29 Sakura:  I'll definitely catch (you)! Sakura:  Release! Sakura:  Flight!!
P30 Sakura: <to the card> You seem really happy! Kero:  Seems like quite the attached friend.
P21 Sakura:  Let’s do this, Flight-san. [Lit: I’m in your care, Flight-san.] Sakura:  Let’s go, Kero-chan! Kero:  Yeah!
P32 Narration:  Just wait, Akiho-chan! Sakura chases the “fluffball” into the sky!! <Reservation deadline for the Special Edition of Volume 3 is Friday, July 14th> <To be continued>

Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card Arc Chapter 11 Translation
I went to the bookstore at lunch today and was happy to find that Nakayoshi is out a day early. Here is the full version of the chapter 11 translation.  Going through it a second/third time, I noticed some errors I made in the preview versions and have corrected them (just nuances and typos; nothing plot significant). Sorry about the changes!
Also, I bought some extra goods yesterday at Sakura Fest and will be updating my CCS goods sale post soon.  If you’re interested in an item, please PM me. Right now things are quite busy for me at work, but I will try to respond as quickly as I can. :)

“Could you be friends with me?”
P1 Yue:  Another new card…? Sakura:  Yeah… At Tomoyo-chan’s house. Yue:  What kind of card is it? Sakura:  This is it. Kero:  "Record"… Yue:  You don’t have to get close to the screen.  I should just look at what our mistress has in her hand. Kero:  True, but there’s such a thing as having a presence, you know. Yue:  What can it do?
P2 Sakura:  I haven’t tried it out yet.  But I think it can record things somehow. Kero:  Try it out right now! Sakura:  Okay!  "Record!“ <Sakura activates the card>
P3 Kero:  It’s not moving, right? Sakura:  Y-yeah. Kero:  I guess it won’t work unless you give it a proper command? Sakura:  Take a recording around me now! Kero:  This (card)… did it record? Sakura:  How are we supposed to watch (what it recorded)?
P4 Sakura:  Project what you’ve recorded! Kero:  Ooooh! Sakura:  It’s like I’m really standing right here! Kero:  I see.  So this is how it’s used! Kero:  Record Yue next time too. Yue:  No thanks.
P5 Yue:  Well for now, it looks as though you’re unharmed. Kero:  That’s right. Sakura:  But this might be useful.  I can use this whenever there’s something I want to save. Sakura:  I’d just been thinking how it would be nice if I could do that… Sakura:  Ah! Sakura:  I need to leave about now!  I’ll talk to you later, Yue-san! Yue:  Be careful on your way. Sakura:  I will!
P6 Sakura:  I’m heading out! <Kero dives into Sakura’s bag.  A moment later, Sakura sees Akiho> Sakura:  Akiho-chan! Akiho:  Good morning. Sakura:  Good morning.  Good morning to you too, Momo-chan!
P7 Akiho:  Good morning to your friend too. <Sakura pulls Kero out of the bag. Caption reads: “Pretending to be a stuffed animal”> Sakura:  Yeah! Sakura:  Kero-chan came along with me! Akiho:  Good morning, Kero-san. Kero:  <thinking> Strangled! I’m being strangled!! <Sakura shoves him back into her bag> Sakura:  That reminds me, whereabouts do you live Akiho-chan?
[Lit: …where is your house?]
P8 Akiho:  It’s (a bit of) an isolated house that’s a close enough distance to walk to.  I heard that a boy from England who was about my age used to live there before. Sakura:  Eh!? Sakura:  Do you happen to have a picture of your house? Akiho:  Y-yes.
P9 Sakura:  It’s Eriol-kun’s house! Akiho:  Eh!? <Later at school> Kero:  I was strangled… At that rate, I thought I was gunna (die).
[Note: The Japanese was あのまま落ちるかと思たで – The word kero uses is 落ちる which has several meanings (e.g. “to fall”, “to drop”, “to fail”, “to give up”, “to die”). I thought of these he was probably being extra dramatic, but he could have just meant that he was about to drop the stuffed animal façade.]
Sakura:  I-I’m sorry. Kero:  Next time be more careful about how you treat me. Kero:  So, about this morning’s conversation… Sakura:  That’s right. It’s about Akiho-chan’s house. Syaoran:  So it was Hiiragizawa’s house...
P10 Sakura:  I was surprised.  But Akiho-chan was surprised too when I said it was where our friend used to live. <Text around Eriol says “Former Home Owner”> Sakura:  And so, she invited us over to visit this Sunday. Syaoran:  To Shinomoto’s house? Sakura:  Akiho-chan has been to many countries and she said she’d show us the books she’s collected from (her travels).
[Lit: …she said she’d show us the books she’s collected from those times.]
Sakura:  I’m sure I won’t be able to read foreign books, but she said she has books with lovely pictures and photos. Syaoran:  I’m sorry.  I have something to do on Sunday… Sakura:  I see… That’s a shame.  Well, Tomoyo-chan and I will go then. Syaoran:  Can you apologize to Shinomoto for me? Sakura:  Sure! Sakura:  U-um so…  Are you free the next Sunday?
P11 Sakura: U-um, I’m working really hard on the tamagoyaki [Lit: rolled egg]. It’s warm out and if the weather’s nice, um, we can go out together… Syaoran: If you’re okay going with me. Sakura: Th-that goes for me too. If you’re okay going with me! Kero:  Hey, I’m here too!  It’s not just your own world, you two!
P12 Kero:  Tomoyo, why do you have to have classroom duty today? (I’m the third wheel…)
[Lit: “I’m lonely…” but it’s basically what he means]
<Later, Sakura and Tomoyo go to Eriol’s/Akiho’s house> Sakura:  So it really is Eriol-kun’s house. Tomoyo:  It looks that way. <Sakura rings the bell> Akiho:  Yes?
P13 Sakura:  U-um, it’s Kinomoto. Tomoyo:  (And) Daidouji. Akiho:  I’ll open it now. Sakura:  Wow! Akiho:  Please come in. Sakura:  Y-yes! Kero:  You’re moving really suspiciously. Tomoyo:  Thank you for inviting us. Sakura:  …(f-for inviting us). Akiho:  I’m so happy that you came!
P14 Yuna:  Hello. Yuna:  Thank you for coming all this way today. Akiho:  Ever since I was little, I’ve always caused Kaito-san a lot of trouble. Yuna:  I am Yuna D. Kaito.  I watch over Akiho-san.  It’s very nice to meet you.
[Note:  Yuna speaks very politely and uses honorifics much like Tomoyo does.]
P15 Yuna: And you haven’t caused me trouble even once, Akiho-san. Yuna:  Please come inside. Sakura:  Wow!
P16 Sakura:  It’s really different from when Eriol-kun lived here. Tomoyo:  That’s true. Sakura:  What a cute room. <Yuna brings tea into the room> Akiho:  That’s a nice aroma. Yuna:  I prepared the cherry blossom flavored tea souvenir you gave us. Akiho:  <to Sakura and Tomoyo> Thank you very much. Sakura:  Tomoyo-chan and I picked it put. Yuna:  Here you are.
P17 Sakura, Tomoyo, & Akiho:  Thank you so much! Sakura & Akiho:  It’s delicious! Yuna:  Thank you very much. Please have some of this too. Sakura, Tomoyo, & Akiho:  I’ll have some! Sakura:  Hanya~n! <Sakura is suddenly embarrassed>
P18 Sakura:  I-it’s nothing! Tomoyo:  What’s the matter? Sakura:  I accidentally said “Hanya~n” Tomoyo:  But it’s so cute… Sakura:  I’m a middle school student now and it’s a little embarrassing, so I’m trying not to say it as much as I can. Sakura:  It’s very delicious! Tomoyo:  Which cake shop is this from? Yuna:  It’s from here. Tomoyo:  Oh wow, this is homemade?
P19 Akiho:  He always makes homemade sweets, meals, and bentos for me. Sakura:  That’s amazing! Yuna:  Not at all. Yuna:  It’s because this is my job. Sakura:  Akiho-chan…
P20 Akiho:  After we finish the cake, there’s a place I definitely want to show you. <Akiho takes Sakura & Tomoyo to her library> Sakura:  Wow!!
P21 Sakura:  Are these all your books? Akiho:  Rather than belonging to me, these were collected by my relatives. Tomoyo:  Your family must be avid readers. Akiho:  Yes, they all love books.  They collect them whenever they travel around various countries.  This is just a small part (of the collection). Sakura:  Hoeee, this is… Akiho:  I love books too… There’s a book I want at any cost that I came to Japan to get. Sakura:  (You came to Japan) for a book?
P22 Akiho:  For that, and also… <Sakura feels a presence> Sakura:  <thinking> Huh…? Akiho:  What’s the matter? Tomoyo: ……
P23 Sakura:  I-it’s nothing. Sakura:  Ah!  Akiho-chan, you said you have a favorite book, didn’t you? Akiho:  Yes. Sakura:  I was just thinking I’d love to see it if that’s okay with you. Akiho:  Of course! Akiho:  It’s in my room, so I’ll go and get it.
P24 Tomoyo:  Could it be that…? Sakura:  Yeah… It might be a card. Tomoyo:  Did something happen? Sakura:  No, (I only felt) a presence.  It seemed like it was over here. Sakura:  Huh? Sakura:  This is the only place that doesn’t have books? Tomoyo:  You’re right.
P25 Tomoyo:  Volumes 1 through 9 are all here.  Then there’s a gap (until) Volume 18 onwards. Sakura:  I wonder if someone is reading them. Sakura:  Eh!? Tomoyo:  What happened? Sakura:  This…! P4 Sakura:  Morning! Tomoyo:  Good morning! Kero:  Yo! Tomoyo:  Oh, Kero-chan! Sakura:  I promised Akiho-chan yesterday. Tomoyo:  You promised Akiho-chan?
P5 Tomoyo:  So you brought him with you? Sakura:  Kero-chan's a little bit big... If he was on the outside of my bag, he would really stand out. <Kero's wearing a cellphone strap accessory> Kero:  You say that, but what's this all about? Sakura:  I also worried how it would look having a mascot (charm) larger than my phone... Tomoyo:  It's very cute. Kero:  REALLY? Sakura:  (It doesn't take much for you) Kero-chan.
[Lit:  Kero-chan, you're simple.]
P6 Sakura:  Tomoyo-chan, you brought another bag with you too. <quietly> We don't have PE today, right? Tomoyo:  I've decided to carry a costume on me always in case a chance to record you comes up anytime!! Sakura:  HOEEE!!! Kero:  Ohh!  Get some good shots of me too!
P7 Kero:  I want to wear a crown next time! Tomoyo:  That will definitely look good on you!  If that's the case, then (I'll ready) a tiara for Sakura-chan. Sakura:  <thinking> The weather's really nice today.  It would be nice if we could record (days) like this too.
[The Japanese used here is こういうのも撮っておけるといいな。The kanji was 撮るinstead of 取る so I left the meaning as "record"]
<Sakura hears a buzzing sound>
P8 Sakura:  Hoe?  What was that sound? Kero:  Oh, we'd better go soon! Kero:  Are you alright on time? Sakura:  Wah!  We've gotta hurry!  Let's go, Tomoyo-chan! <Later at school, Sakura is reciting from a book during Japanese Language Studies class> (★) Sakura:  <reading character’s narration> "I understand that I'm riding on a large ship."
P9 Sakura:  <character in story is asking another man a question> "Is this boat going West?" Sakura:  "The man on the boat gave a puzzled look and stared at me for a moment.  Before long, he replied with "Why?" Sakura:  "So I can chase after the setting sun." Teacher:  Okay, that's enough.  Thank you, Kinomoto-san. <Book reads "Japanese Language Studies"> Teacher:  In this way, the collection of stories about dreams called "Ten Nights of Dreams" are all mysterious, but depending on the (reader), one might also find them to be scary.
[Lit:  "depending on the person"]
P10 Teacher:  Well then, do you all know that within the (different categories of) dreams, there are (ones) called "prophetic dreams"?
[Lit:  ...do you all know that within dreams, there are "prophetic dreams"?]
Teacher:  "Prophetic dreams" mean that you can see the future in a dream, but these "Ten Nights of Dreams" aren't necessarily prophetic dreams.  But looking at it interpretively... Sakura:  <thinking> A prophetic dream, huh... Sakura:  <thinking> Just what is that dream I've been having? Sakura:  <thinking> I had dreams before about Kaho-sensei & Eriol-kun... Teacher:  Okay, continuing on.  Shinomoto-san. Akiho:  Eh?! Sakura:  <thinking> Do your best Akiho-chan! Akiho:  Um... ahh... Chiharu:  <quietly> Do your best!
P11 Sakura:  <quietly encouraging> Do! Your! Best! <Akiho calms herself and starts reading> Akiho:  "I went to the bow of the ship and the sailors were gathered in a large number pulling on a thick hoisting rope." Akiho:  "I became extremely disheartened.  I don't know when we'll land aground.  And I don't know where we are going."
P12 Student:  I'm hungry! Other Student:  Where shall we eat lunch? Sakura:  Your recitation was good! Akiho:  I wonder if I was able to read it well enough. Tomoyo:  It was really wonderful! Sakura:  Ah, that's right.  Have you decided on a club yet, Akiho-chan? Akiho:  I'm still worrying over it.
P13 Tomoyo:  How about joining the chorus club? Sakura & Chiharu:  Ahh! Sakura:  Yeah!  The song you sang at flower viewing was really beautiful! Akiho:  I won’t be a bother, will I? Tomoyo:  I’m sure everyone will be really happy!
P14 Akiho:  Then… I want to join the chorus club.
P15 Sakura:  (Seeing) everyone smiling is so nice. <Sakura hears buzzing sound again> Sakura:  Huh? Buzzing again?
P16 Yamazaki:  So my bento today is... Chiharu:  Shall we go? Sakura:  Yeah! Tomoyo:  Li-kun! Syaoran:  What is it? Tomoyo:  Perfect timing! Tomoyo:  There's something I wanted to ask of you.
P17 <later at Tomoyo's house> Tomoyo:  You've grown taller. Syaoran:  Is that so? Tomoyo:  You've become very manly. Syaoran:  Eh?? N-no... Syaoran:  But why are you taking my measurements too? Tomoyo:  I want you to wear costumes too, Li-kun. <laughs to herself>
P18 Tomoyo:  I'll create lovely costumes for both Sakura-chan & Syaoran-kun. (★)
[Note: Tomoyo actually calls him Syaoran-kun here instead of just Li-kun.  Please see my note at the end of the chapter on this.]
Sakura:  Eh?? Tomoyo:  Just now... was there...? Syaoran:  Wind...?
P19 Sakura:  (The wind) just now! Syaoran:  That's not just any wind. Sakura:  I saw something.  It was like the edge of a cloth passing by... <Syaoran pulls sword out from his hand> Sakura:  Ehh?! Kero:  When did you learn how to use that technique?  <to himself>  Even though you're a brat! Syaoran:  Thunder, come forth!
P20 Syaoran:  It got away, huh? Sakura:  Wait!  <releases the staff> Sakura:  I have a feeling that if we attack, it will just run away more. Syaoran:  But...
P21 Sakura:  Would wind (work)? Then with "Gale"... Sakura:  No, if I did that, I'd hurt it... Sakura: Then "Siege?" Sakura:  ...No. Sakura:  No matter what happens to me, don't move. Syaoran: ......
P22 Sakura:  I'm not catching you against your will. Sakura:  It's more like... yes... more like... Sakura:  Could we (be friends)?
[Lit:  Could we get along?]
P23 Sakura:  ...Thank you. Sakura:  !?
P24 & P25 <Sakura flies upward with the new "wings">
P26 Kero:  Oh! You can fly! Sakura:  Oh wow!  I can move freely! <Sakura hears a buzzing sound> Tomoyo:  This is so lovely! Sakura:  "Secure!"
P27 <Sakura seals the card away> Sakura:  So it was the sound of this card.

In this special "After Chapter" the two go crazy!
Enjoy the energetic (omake).
Kero & Spinel - Before the Beginning -
P1 <Caption:  This took place before Sakura and Syaoran reunited. ☆ Even if they're far apart, their battle is in perfect form(?)...!>
[Note:  “They’re” here refers to Kero & Suppi, not SxS]
Kero:  No, that's all wrong! Kero:  Ahhhh why are you casting magic on your own party!  Stop! Kero:  AHHHH!!! Kero:  What the hell!!! Suppi!!! Suppi:  I didn't do it on purpose. My hand slipped.
P2 Kero:  It wasn't on purpose?! Kero:  What's up with you hitting my character with water magic?! Suppi:  Like I said, my hand slipped. Kero:  YOUUU!!! Well if that's how you feel about it... Kero:  ...I won't send you those Japanese sweets I was telling you about! Suppi:  NA-!! Suppi:  If that's how you feel about it, then I won't send you sweets from here either! Kero:  How rude!! Suppi:  You're the one who's being mean!
P3 Sakura:  I'm home. Sakura:  You're still playing games? Kero:  Suppi is being mean! Sakura:  You must've done it first, Kero-chan. Kero:  <crying> Sakura doesn't believe me... Sakura:  I know you two are close, but your eyesight will get bad.  So you should play games in moderation.
P4 <Sakura looks sad> Kero:  The brat didn't send any messages? Sakura:  Yeah, I'm sure he's busy. Sakura:  Okay!  I've gotta go prepare for dinner. Kero:  Don't forget mine too!
[Lit:  Mine too, okay!]
Sakura:  Oka-y! Kero:  Sakura...
P5 Suppi:  Did she come back from shopping? Kero:  Yeah.  She left her room, but she hasn't heard from the brat yet so she was a bit down... Suppi:  I see. Kero:  It seems like he's leaving some time in between replies lately.  It'll be nice if he can come here on his next break. Suppi:  Yes, it would be. Kero:  Okay! Talk to you later!  Next time don't cast magic on me. Suppi: I'll be very careful. <hangs up> Suppi:  Syaoran will be going there soon.  But... it won't just be to see (her) again...
[Lit:  It won't just be to meet again.]
Translation Note:
(★) The book Sakura's class is studying in this chapter is a short story collection called "Ten Nights of Dreams" by famed author Natsume Souseki:
“Ten Nights of Dreams” Wikipedia
Sakura and Akiho are reading an excerpt from "The Seventh Night."
(★)  On page 18, Tomoyo refers to Syaoran as “Syaoran-kun.”  This could be, as some have speculated, intentional and that she is referring to “Sakura & Syaoran” as a couple, but it could also likely be a script error in Nakayoshi since she refers to him as “Li-kun” on the previous page.
Script errors or slight rewrites are not uncommon.  The official release of the first volume for Clear Card Arc had some minor text differences from the initial magazine release, so please bear this in mind. :)
