I decided to do Mermay this year, but with my mer OCs from a story I'm working on.

Asterius

Bit more about him under the cut for people who are curious

Asterius is the first prince of the mer empire. He also goes by Aster.

As a young mer, Asterius used to spend a lot of time on beaches stargazing at night, especially in areas with bioluminescent phytoplankton, which is how he got his colouration.

He's currently the heir to the throne, and was selected due to his affinity for magic at the time. However, due to circumstances, his magic is currently nowhere near as powerful as it was when he was younger. Other than a few select individuals, noone else is currently aware of this, least of all the Empress.

While Aster does still carry out his duties as crown prince, he gets a lot more exhausted than usual, and is constantly overworked. Even so, he tries his best to carry out his role as heir, and to set a good example for his younger brothers.

Meet Magnamaze!

My take on the identity of what kicks you out of the dungeons in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon!

My idea is that after getting a full team of level 100 Pokemon and timing out in a dungeon, after the "It's getting closer" message, it would say "You feel strong enough to face it". And enter a boss battle with Magnamaze! Recruiting it would allow you to access Creative Mode where you get to make your own custom dungeons!

A tender moment~

I finally got some art inspiration again and finished the sketch from a few days ago. I love him so much💕💕

Davy has a strong grasp at my feelings at the moment and I felt like I really needed to draw a tender and comforting moment between him and Selena. This scene probably happens some time into their relationship, when Davy starts opening up more and finally allows himself to use his tentacles for touching and caressing her (after Selena had to tell him numerous times that she doesn't mind them at all😅 even though it probably was an unfamiliar sensation at the beginning, she never felt uncomfortable about them like Davy feared).

Also, the pose was probably semi-consciously inspired by these headcanons by @assortedvillainvault (go read them. oh and these too - I need to spread the Davy x reader propaganda), and the more I think about it, the more I can imagine that Davy would be absolutely weak for forehead touches. In those serene moments he'd finally find a way to let go of his sorrow (even if it might be only temporary - at least in the beginning) and simply enjoy the presence of the person he trusts and loves. And I honestly just want to hold him and be there for him, is that too much to ask? <3

Sorry for adding onto a years-old post but a few days ago I accidentally stumbled upon the entire comic online and I was bored so I read up until Mandy got her powers and got together with her girlfriend. I never had much of an opinion on the entire thing (+ the drama) until now and I gotta say I am absolutely disgusted at the amount of grown men hating on a comic clearly meant for kids/younger teens. I am not the target audience either but it was honestly fine? People were hating for nothing.

I'll defend "I am Not Starfire" with my life.

Was it for me? No.

Did it deserve to get destroyed by grown ass adults like me, who are drugged on nostalgia and have a hate boner for anything that threatens that? Also no.

I saw a cool video a person made about anx and I am very grateful that there's still people who like him so much... But there were people in the comments of that video saying hateful stuff about me so let's be clear about something:

- If you don't like Anx there's absolutely nothing wrong and you have all the right to just ignore him and keep going with your life... Instead of spreading misinformation about me 🕺

- When I made anx I didn't expect any attention from it because it was just some drawing i made to cope with stress at that time(also practicing a new artstyle), I didn't think much about it since I was just having fun and I'm sorry. I tried my best to fix him and even give him an story without previous preparation.

- Just because he's not representing anxiety exactly how you want him to represent it, doesn't mean it's wrong, everyone have different experiences and ways to cope with their stress.

Basically: Anx was literally just a drawing I made because i was stressed asf lol

okay look, calming down - i understand why some people would want zelda to be a protagonist in like a totk-style 3d zelda. that would be great! the reason i predicted 2d for playable zelda is because its a smaller gamble for nintendo - imo, its realistically what we could get. especially at the end of the switch' life cycle AND so soon after totk.

BUT i'm very happy, for a few reasons:

1. it IS mainline zelda. its not called "triforce heroes" or "tingle's rosy rupeeland", its not a peach-style spinoff or side game. its a real zelda game. its called THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: ECHOES OF WISDOM. that alone, giving the mainline zelda brand prestige to this, IS a risk. and its one i super appreciate nintendo taking!!!

2. i disagree that just because it has the links awakening toy-style aesthetic, that automatically makes it a "lesser" or unserious game. links awakening IS a good game! its some peoples favorite! it added interesting lore to the zelda series, its a canon part of the timeline, its mechanically fun, and it has the fun psychological element of analyzing it in terms of links feelings about the dream. like how even the boss monsters are fearful of "dying", begging link not to destroy the island. which of course isn't "real" since its a dream, but its interesting that link would THINK that. also, marin 💔

3. like i said in the prediction post, this could be understood as a testfire for the concept. IF its as successful as any other 2d zelda game (and thats a big if! i already see people calling it more niche or for babies. i hope that doesnt catch on too much and depress hype 😞), maybe nintendo WILL see it as less of a gamble to make zelda the protagonist in a full-on, "serious" 3d title. nintendo is, after all, a business. trying it out with a smaller game makes total sense.

also... it looks like a good game? when a link between worlds was released, everyone thought the wall merging ability was brilliant and a great way to turn 2d zelda into a more unique experience.

this, to me, looks to have similar potential!! the fact that zelda can essentially order enemies to fight for her and use her environment to think of intelligent solutions to any problem is very in-character! it's fitting both for a princess and for the bearer of the triforce of wisdom.

also, its not just building/environment traversal! she does fight!

idk y'all, this looks like a great time to me! i don't know why people would presume its any "lesser" than any other 2d zelda... when we've literally seen another 2d zelda with this exact artstyle. and its an original game!! its not a remake!! :D

why exactly do you dislike generative art so much? i know its been misused by some folks, but like, why blame a tool because it gets used by shitty people? Why not just... blame the people who are shitty? I mean this in genuinely good faith, you seem like a pretty nice guy normally, but i guess it just makes me confused how... severe? your reactions are sometimes to it. There's a lot of nuance to conversation about it, and by folks a lot smarter than I (I suggest checking out the Are We Art Yet or "AWAY" group! They've got a lot on their page about the ethical use of Image generation software by individuals, and it really helped explain some things I was confused about). I know on my end, it made me think about why I personally was so reactive about Who was allowed to make art and How/Why. Again, all this in good faith, and I'm not asking you to like, Explain yourself or anything- If you just read this and decide to delete it instead of answering, all good! I just hope maybe you'll look into *why* some people advocate for generative software as strongly as they do, and listen to what they have to say about things -🦜

if Ai genuinely generated its own content I wouldn't have as much of a problem with it, however what Ai currently does is scrape other people's art, collect it, and then build something based off of others stolen works without crediting them. It's like. stealing other peoples art, mashing it together, then saying "this is mine i can not only profit of it but i can use it to cut costs in other industries.

this is more evident by people not "making" art but instead using prompts. Its like going to McDonalds and saying "Burger. Big, Juicy, etc, etc" then instead of a worker making the burger it uses an algorithm to build a burger based off of several restaurant's recepies.

the left is AI art, the right is one of the artists (Lindong) who it pulled the art style from. it's literally mass producing someone's artstyle by taking their art then using an algorithm to rebuild it in any context. this is even more apparent when you see ai art also tries to recreate artists watermarks and generally blends them together making it unintelligible.

Aside from that theres a lot of other ethical problems with it including generating pretty awful content, including but not limited to cp. It also uses a lot of processing power and apparently water? I haven't caught up on the newer developements i've been depressed about it tbh

Then aside from those, studios are leaning towards Ai generation to replace having to pay people. I've seen professional voice actors complain on twitter that they haven't gotten as much work since ai voice generation started, artists are being cut down and replaced by ai art then having the remaining artists fix any errors in the ai art.

Even beyond those things are the potential for misinformation. Here's an experiment: Which of these two are ai generated?

These two are both entirely ai generated. I have no idea if they're real people, but in a few months you could ai generate a Biden sex scandal, you could generate politics in whatever situation you want, you can generate popular streamers nude, whatever. and worse yet is ai generated video is already being developed and it doesn't look bad.

I posted on this already but as of right now it only needs one clear frame of a body and it can generate motion. yeah there are issues but it's been like two years since ai development started being taken seriously and we've gotten to this point already. within another two years it'll be close to perfected. There was even tests done with tiktokers and it works. it just fucking works.

There is genuinely not one upside to ai art. at all. it's theft, it's harming peoples lives, its harming the environment, its cutting jobs back and hurting the economy, it's invading peoples privacy, its making pedophilia accessible, and more. it's a plague and there's no vaccine for it. And all because people don't want to take a year to learn anatomy.
