Reasons Why I Think The Unnamed City In TUA is Jersey City, NJ:
1) Jersey City is 30 minutes away from where Gerard Way (creator of TUA comics) grew up. I believe being that close to Jersey City would have some influence.
2) Jersey City is within road trip driving distance of Lancaster, Pennsylvania which is the area most well known for for the Amish/Pennsylvania Dutch.
If they take interstate 80, like it looks like they’re doing on the map Five has, it would take them about 3 1/2 hours to get to Lancaster or if they take the more practical options of interstate 76 or 78 an then taking route 222 it would be closer to 2 1/2 to 3 hours. All of which are realistic options time wise for them leaving on the trip in the morning and arriving back at the hotel at night time to present the dead birth mother findings to the rest of the group.
3) Klaus says that they are “going to Pennsylvania” (S3 E2 min 20:40) to find his birth mother. That means that they were not in Pennsylvania to begin with which rules out cities in PA like Pittsburg and Philadelphia.
4) The way Jersey City looks is very reminiscent of how the city in TUA looks.

And these are some city shots from TUA

Both Jersey City and TUA city are shown to have have a mix of shorter and taller buildings along with may different store fronts and walkable areas. And it is with all this information that I like to believe that The Umbrella Academy takes place in Jersey City, New Jersey.

DJ HOVER:
By: Natalee Gilbert
DJ Hover is a radio and show host who goes above and beyond to change an artist’s life for the better. His platform on Stationhead called STRICTLYBUSINESS spreads the word about those who are on the come-up. Case in point, DJ Hover advertises, does interviews, and notes why one should listen to an artist by simply pressing play. Additionally, DJ Hover keeps others engaged by upping his momentum and showing thanks to those who tune in. After all, music is the foundation of unity and he is doing his part to keep that feeling alive. Hover’s goal is for audiences to find common ground with artists.
Hover is originally from East Rutherford, NJ — a city that's best known for its joining of two rivers: Whippany and Passaic. His love for music and Stationhead were the two components to put his hosting into effect. "I already loved music so it pushed me.” he says “After discovering the app, Stationhead I realized that it has amazing potential to launch or boost anyones music career. Instantly I knew I had to be apart of something this great."
His inspirations are drawn from a few icons like Biggie, Tupac, Nas, and even DJ Drewski but it really comes down to the artist. "These artist have so much talent but no one to back them up." adds D.J Hover "I want to show them that I'm here to show support and help them in anyway." In the same way, he wants to portray the message of self worth, love and inspiration. "I say it every time I'm on air "Anyone who steps into STRICTLYBUSINESS (the station) is equal. There's a royalty symbol at the bottom to represent that everyone in this room and world are equal. You, me and WE are all royalty in here! I want people to spread the love and support that's needed into the world. It starts with the music and musicians for me." D.J Hover says.
New Jersey’s DJ Hover took time to speak with me, in which he reflects on his accomplishments and favorites this year. Hover also unveiled what we can expect in 2020.
Me: How would you summarize this year as a whole for your career?
DJ Hover: Truly amazing I never would've expected to be where I am now! I've reach milestones I thought would take years to hit. Staying focused and humble helped me to meet some of my greatest connections and business partners!
Me: Was there a specific event you enjoyed hosting this year?
DJ Hover: Geez there's honestly two, The Madminds Take Over put together by Turkish Royale and becoming the full time host of The MVMT Monday with DJ Drewski!
Me: One artist you had the opportunity of interviewing on air? One artist you discovered and are now a fan of?
DJ Hover: Since my last interview I’ve taken some breaks interviewing on air but I’ve discovered so many artists through the Stationhead and my work it’s crazy. I've had the pleasure of meeting and becoming a fan of Turkish Royale, Samad Savage and Ethan Ross!
Me: What's in store for Strictly Business Radio (2020)?
DJ Hover: Theres way too much to put in here, but to keep it brief we are going to capitalize and expand beyond NJ and NY. There may be a possible relocation but only time will tell so stay tuned in!
Me: Would you say you've enjoyed the crowd's or artist's energy from The MVMT Monday's events?
DJ Hover: Both! I love every second of hosting this event each month. The artist bring and put out their all. From Rap, RnB & Pop everyones showing love and having an amazing time there is no place like The MVMT Space it's another home away from home!
Me: Any upcoming projects?
DJ Hover: I'm executive producing my first tape with an A-List of Jersey Artist and I will be producing another project as well! Both set for a early to mid 2020 release!
Me: What song are you currently bumping to?
DJ Hover: Troyman - “Streetlight”
Me: Three albums you enjoyed from an underground artist this year:
DJ Hover: Fly Boy Fall by Zo Morese
Trust The Weird Kids by Samad Savage
.5 EP: Geno Five
Me: One artist you're looking forward to interviewing in 2020:
DJ Hover: I’m trying to do something big this time around for sure my goal is to interview artist I grew up listening to or currently do both big and small!
Me: Word of advice to those getting back into their passion:
DJ Hover: Never stop working towards your goals, we all get hit the hardest right before we bounce back our strongest. Don't waste time thinking about regrets, there's no such thing because life's to short for regrets learn from the mistakes and become stronger. The more you regret, the more you wait to find an answer. Be true to yourself and your passion. You will always find your way back.
