it doesn't quite look like a holiday party from here, but what I imagined as a humble little piece is~~ Ciel and Lizzy sneak away from the big bustling midford Christmas party and raid the kitchen desserts, like they did when they were kids(it was Lizzy's idea, Ciel clearly hasn't been himself since he returned, and she wanted to bring him back).

HOWDY FOLKS I've not drawn very much as of late since. uhhhh. SEVERAL things happened. but one of them is because i went to a miniature painting convention this past weekend!

it was super fun! here's a couple minis i painted-- first one was just for fun and i want to make her into a character now, second one i did in a class on painting with limited palettes! i did that with only three different colors of paint!

Little update: I'm working hard on the next few chapters of Cryptid Sightings but it's taking me some time while I'm handling school, work, and family stuff, so sorry it's been a hot second. This next episode is getting big so I'm making sure everything fits together as it should and trying to figure out how to split it up in a reasonable manner.

Update on my mom below the read more. TW for dog attack and injuries.

My mom is doing really well and her arm is mostly healed up after the dog attack, but she has a lot of heavy scarring up and down her whole arm and struggles with lifting heavy things. The lawsuit that we filed against the owners of the dog is going along slowly but we have a really good case, so that should pay for all of my mom's medical bills as well as lost wages. For the most part, everything has settled down and we're all okay.

this is a psa regarding upcoming changes to activity. at the end of this month, I’ll finally be resuming my studies ! it has been a challenging gap year indeed, so I am really excited to finally be back in school. that being said, I have a full – time course load ahead of me & will be juggling that with a part – time job. I have the privilege to say school takes precedence over everything else, so while I don’t plan to totally disappear or put Ari’s blog on a full hiatus, I do expect my activity to drop here & there throughout the fall semester. therefore, Ari’s blog is now on a semi – hiatus 🐌

I have also done a bit of cleaning up & hope to do some more ( I have deleted some very old asks & am organizing the threads I owe replies to !  ). in addition to that, I have trimmed my followers a bit. I do appreciate every bit of interest, & I mean that with my whole heart ! 🌷 however, Ari’s blog is reaching an uncomfortable number, & I’ve grown to prefer a smaller following, as I find it far more manageable—especially when trying to balance this hobby & my real life responsibilities ! 🌼😊🍃

I will be selective & somewhat quiet on discord. I’m already quite slow to respond, but this is just a reminder to not take that personally 🌿 I’m a true introvert with a social battery that depletes / holds a charge like a well – used iPhone😭

I hope to maintain my passion for Ari as I pursue my degree. she’s always been such wonderful company to have through challenging times & I find writing here to be an immense comfort 🌻🍃 thank you in advance for your patience & understanding ! if you will also be starting school in the fall, good luck to you 😊🍃

There have been so many songs I've had in the back of my head loosely linked to Ricky and Gina, and today's prompt finally gave me an excuse to compile a playlist for them. There's honestly probably more that can be added, but I'm actually quite proud of how many I was able to add to this list!

There are some songs that are from Gina's perspective ("Mastermind", "What if I Love You", "Nobody Love Me Like You"), including her S2 perspective, some from Ricky's ("would you love me now?", "Smoke Slow"), some about their angst that can be from both perspectives ("The Night We Met", "Where's My Love"), and some that are more joyous and celebratory ("Different", "I Just Love You", "Honeybee").

However, the one I really want to highlight is "Nebraska" by Oh Wonder. This was in my top 5 most played in 2021, so I can't believe I didn't think of it until now as a Rina (and especially Gina) coded song, but BOY does it fit them so well. Seriously, go listen to it now and tell me this doesn't perfectly represent and describe Gina Porter and how she feels about Ricky. It touches on the importance of "I love you" but that it shouldn't be a wasted phrase, and the narrator sings about traveling the world but the only place that feels like home is her beloved (who may have also broken her heart).

The other song that I want to talk about briefly is "I Just Love You" by Roo Panes. The feeling and atmosphere the music of this one creates always reminds me of domestic Rina, and the simplicity of the lyrics ("I just love you") reminds me of how Ricky feels for Gina. I also headcanon Gina's middle name is Marie, so the lyrics of the first verse fit, and the second verse sings about they've both had fears of vulnerability ("why are we oh so afraid / of saying something real?"). This contrasts the straightforward conclusion of the chorus, which definitely reminds me of Ricky's resolution, certainty, and directness in "Love You Forever".
