Italian literature tournament - Third round.

Propaganda in support of the authors is accepted, you can write it both in the tag if reblog the poll (explaining maybe that is propaganda and you want to see posted) or in the comments. Every few days it will be recollected and posted here under the cut.
First, propaganda for Ludovico Ariosto, then for Guido Cavalcanti. The quantity of material will be colossal, so just scroll down for more.
For the Ludovico Ariosto stans:
by @larmegliamori
The opposing party has brought on the big guns, I see: us Ariosto girlies, gays and they must bare our teeth and ambitions.
So, here's my two cent on why you should vote Ludovico Ariosto!
Extreme relatability: Deeply entrenched into the politics of his time (as the firstborn of ten children, of which one was disabled and other five were women), but at the same time just wanting to stay home to live of his poetry? Dare I say iconic. Perfect representation of us literature kids.
He actually managed to marry his muse, Alessandra Benucci, and did it respectfully!
Working various jobs for patron(s) he didn't particularly like? Been there, done that, got the t-shirt.
Not to mention his most widely known work, the poem "Orlando Furioso" (The rage of Roland), has all the goos stuff us modern audiences would like! It features:
A wide, diverse cast, spanning from Ireland to India, stretching probably to the (by then) newly discovered Americas;
Fantasy elements: faeries, sorcerers, giants, orcs, the first modern iteration of the hippogryph and even a fantastical voyage to the Moon!
Citations and references galore: from Virgil to Ovid, from old chansons de geste to Boccaccio!
Proto-feminism and gender studies: Ariosto's female characters, although often very feminine, are actively involved in their story arcs. The poem also features two warrior women, Bradamante and Marfisa, the former of which is the protagonist of her own subplot. Said subplot heavily relies on gender, may it be appearances or not. And let's not forget the famous tirade at beginning of the fifth canto, where the author berates femicide! If you're willing to open your heart to his writing, Ludovico Ariosto reveals himself to be a compelling, layered, modern author, and yet there's a levity to his writing that works like a balm. Vote for Ludovico Ariosto (even if only for the memes)!
I'd also like to add that Ariosto's Orlando Furioso, in the 70s, got a theatrical AND television adaptation that was too campy for its own good.
It featured, amongst other things:
- 1500s inspired costuming (it sure was... A choice but I'm not complaining)

- Mechanic horses (that literally ran on rails) and hippogryph:

- Olympia of Holland, one of the most tragic characters in all the poem, as a vamp (slay):

(Posing with Orlando/Roland in on the left, with her lover Bireno on the right)
- Astolfo literally ENTERING INTO A HOLE TO GET TO THE MOON:

The television adaptation was partly shot in the famous Baths of Caracalla, in Rome. If you want to witness this masterpiece yourself, it's on YouTube! In two parts.
Remember to always stan Zio Ludo, and vote for him! â¨
Hello everyone! For today's Ariosto Propaganda Piece, I'd like to talk about the Satire.
Those seven pieces written in terzina dantesca (because our boy Ludo knew how to pick his role models) are an interesting insight about early 1500s society and Ariosto's character and private life. They all start from an actual event in his life and enlarge towards society as a whole, often with a critical eye towards it.
The first one, destined to his brother Alessandro and a friend, starts these absolutely iconic lines:

[Quick translation: Ruggiero, if you make me so ungrateful in the eyes of your descendants, and it bears me no advantage to have sung your worth and your mighty deeds, why should I stay here, since I don't know how to cut huns on a fork, nor how to hunt games with hawks or dogs?]
A bit of context: Ariosto's first patron, bishop Ippolito d'Este, had to move from Italy to Hungary and wanted all his court to follow him. Ariosto refused because of health and family matters, and he was threatened with the loss of all the benefits he had previously granted him. Note that Ariosto was basically a kind of personal secretary to Ippolito, carrying out different important missions for him, and even risked his life a couple times to carry them out. So it's understandable he feels disappointed at his patron's reaction... and that's why, in this more "private" writings, he complains with Ippolito's ancestor, the hero Ruggiero he had extensively wrote about in his main poem.
Honestly, a genius move. Not something you see often in poetry, is it? Another reason why you need to vote for this man ;)
For the Guido Cavalcanti stans:
Propaganda in favor of Guido Cavalcanti by @eresia-catara
May I add further propaganda for Guido: He's a noble, he disdains aristocrats, he was Florence's number one Server of Cunt, he was the city's faggot, he was heretical, he went on a random pilgrimage but interrupted it and managed to be buried in a church anyway, he had an archenemy who sent some men to murder him on said pilgrimage, he came back and tried to murder him back in plain daylight, he gave zero fucks about politics, he got exiled because he was considered a menace for the city. He SAW DANTE's poetical talent, encouraged it, shaped it, and through him the whole of italian literature. Think about it. Also they became besties until they evolved to a tormented psychosexual haunting dynamic (see break-up poem) where Dante himself actually exiled him. In the 13th century his poetry anticipates so many of the literary themes of the XXth century, going from fragmentation of the self (his is basically vivisection and dispersion of his parts), to dissociation from one's own mind and body, lack of identity, irony, desecration, his poetry is full of schizophrenic-like hallucinations, reading them is truly a trip, and yet his language is profoundly meoldic and sweet. And there's also gender-fuckery. and theater, of course, because his poems develop like a scene from a theater (adding layers to the dissociation). So really he has it all guys.
The thing is, Ariosto feels very contemporary but Guido is the og relativist and unreliable narrator. His poetry offers NO truth whatsoever you only have a sequence of schizophrenic hallucinations and what he describes only seems like it's real but who knows, the narrator is dead, how can he even speak or if he's alive he's not because he has dissociated himself from his body and is only coldly contemplating his own murder. He's not reliable because he has lost his reason, his soul has crubled into pieces and each piece has fled his body. Also he hears voices, and feels a sadistic presence in his mind in the form of a woman watching him die. This man was too ahead of his time, he was too dramatic, too eccentric, but also too acute and sensible, he must have looked deranged and we love him for it. and deserves to be voted!
Guido Cavalcanti propaganda by @girldante
GUIDO CAVALCANTI PROPAGANDA ABBIAMO:
LA DISSOCIAZIONE SCHIZOFRENICA:

IL COMICO, IL SIMPATICO BURLONE, IL MEMATORE ANTE LITTERAM:

IL MACABRO, IL GORE, I SINTOMIâ˘

IL BREAKUP TOSSICO PASSIVO AGGRESSIVO CON DANTE

in conclusione
you can find my old propaganda here, but listen, while i do respect zio ludo's rizz, a vote for guido cavalcanti is a vote for gender roles reversal, death-life liminality, medieval atheism, antisocial freaks obsessed with philosphy who imagine their pens are talking to people about their owner's suffering (what is wrong with him), eye carving enjoyers (what the FUCK is wrong with him), sons who are sacrifical lambs, people who have long swinging necks like geese (allegedly???), and gay breakups involving dante alighieri. and also, well, I don't recall ariosto wearing a miku binder. twice.
in conclusion
Guido Cavalcanti propaganda by @apis-vergilii
Hereâs my Guido propaganda: @girldante and @eresia-catara have already covered the poetry reasons, and Iâm here to get metatextual about the whole thing.
Simply put, this is the Weird Niche Hellsite, and Guido is the Weird Niche Hellcandidate.
We live in an era of the cynical enshittification of the internet. In a sickened sea of dying social platforms, AI slop, and every last pixel being for sale, THIS is still the webbed site where a bunch of strangers can rediscover a lesser-known medieval poet in all his angsty, gothy glory, abandon all pretense of ironic detachment or mature indifference and go absolutely apeshit over his life and work, breathlessly and deliriously creating everything from exhaustively researched essays with footnotes, to anime fan art and inexplicable photoshops. This is the place where Goncharov happened. This is the place where we stole the presidentâs shoelaces. This is the place where a heretical medieval Tuscan stilnovista got himself a full-on Fandom, and we are all so much the better/worse for it.
So vote for the spirit of the old internet in all its dorky glory. Vote for the joy of learning things for fun and not for school. Vote for the bizarre Florentine emo goth. A vote for Guido CavalcantiâŚis a vote for all of us.
if all else fails to convince you, well, i don't recall ariosto having an historical fantasy saga centered around him where he gains clairvoyance and gets increasingly more and more manipulated by the manifestation of his generational trauma. also he gets out of his body to have epic fights with spiritual creatures.
this should be a testimony to how his cuntserving echoed through time
Propaganda by @girldante and @eresia-catara that I guess should be read together:
well. seeing as we're on topic. Was Ariosto ever described as having

les bras d'Hercule avec des mains de nymphe by a 19th century french story? It is not made up guys, he served androgynous cunt so hard it didn't go unnoticed. Guido simply suggests fluidity.
Like. Arms like Hercules and hands like a nymph.
And Lorenzo il Magnifico also Fangirled over him in a letter to the Federico of Aragon

he (Lorenzo il Magnifico!!) was simply begging him to read his poems, and that's because they are absolutely eatable in all their irreverent, elegant, goth glory.
Finally, Boccaccio wrote about him in his Decameron (VI,9) and, truly, can you say no to him:

this little ballerina? look at how sad he looks!
would you look at that! Guido Cavalcanti propaganda is publicly sponsored by thee Lorenzo De' Medici himself!!!
as for the last bit, Boccaccio's novella from Decameron, where Guido calls out a bunch of idiots through a riddle that said idiots will take a bunch of time to understand and then proceeds to abandon them jumping over a grave, was cited by thee Italo Calvino in his Lezioni Americane as an example of his conception of lightness, as in the ability to lift oneself over the heaviness of the world.
In conclusion: Guido Cavalcanti is literally your fave's fave.

Always Yours Part 10
            Part 10   Â
                                                    Raelynnâs POV
Word Count: 1674Â
Trigger Warnings: Slight NSFW Mentions, Death and GriefÂ
It had been a few days since we got back to Basgiath and made our ironic return as Fitzgibbons assumed we all had died. In fact, we had returned during the death roll read as he was reading our names. I woke up in Garrickâs arms the morning he had to leave for the Lieutenant duties of his fourth and final year at Basgiath. I buried my head further into his chest as he chuckled softly âGood morning my love.â He whispered. âTis not.â I said in a whimper, disagreeing âEven though I like the sound of Lieutenant Tavis and it sounds sexy, but you still have to leave me.â I said with a pout as I reached down to stroke the length of his morning wood. âIâm always gonna come home baby, I promise, Iâm always gonna be here to take care of you.â I moaned softly as he slipped two fingers inside of me. âSo wet for me already.â he cooed. âI think I know exactly what Iâm having for Breakfast today.â he said, flipping me over and placing a kiss on my lips that moved to a nibble on my neck, then he sucked one of my nipples as he slowly licked his way down my body to my clit. âGareâŚâ I moaned as he sucked and flicked his way around my now red and swollen clit, his fingers still working magic inside of me. âGarrre fuck Iâm gonna.â I started to say as he slipped his fingers out and placed a kiss on my mouth âNot without me inside of you, Iâm close to my fucking beautiful baby girl.â We spent a good portion of our mornings riding out our highs before we heard a knock on my door.Â
I continued my work on Garrickâs cock, âTheyâll go away.â He said through a moan and running his fingers through my hair as I sucked on his still hardened length even though weâve each cummed several times already. âFuck.â He cursed as the third knock was louder with a âOpen the damn door Tavis or I will beat the shit out of you for being with my sister again.â I sighed reluctantly, moving my lips away from his cock as he tossed me his shirt which was basically a dress on me as he dressed his bottom half. âThe fuck you want Riorson? â âGet dressed, I'm ready to leave.â âWe donât have to fly out until this evening.â Garrick started to say as Xaden made another round of protests saying that he was ready to go. âFine, I'll meet you at the flight field.â Garrick said, shutting the door and changing into his flight gear. âViolet probably pissed him off again.â I sighed with a sigh while also getting dressed. âCome here.â Garrick said pulling me in tightly âMy next free weekend Iâm coming home and we are finishing our morning workout.â Garrick said softly lifting my chin up âHey donât cry my love.â He said, whipping down the first tear that threatened more to fall down my face. âIâm glad you're both together at least.â I whispered softly, making our way down to the flight field as Imogen and Bodhi now joined. I have a surprise for you Celeste said across my mind standing next to her brother. Iâm going with them? I asked excitedly Donât be foolish, iItâs after they leave I'm just here to see my brother off, same asTairn is here to see Sgaeyl off.Â
âDragons.â I mumbled quietly going to give my brother a hug as Garrick and Bodhi were talking. Garrick Iâm sure giving Bodhi orders to keep me safe. âBe careful.â I whispered into Xadenâs shoulder. âAlways.â He said softly, holding me tighter as a shadow cleared my tears away âNone of that.â He said quietly as I felt Garrickâs soft hand on my shoulder âChardh is getting impatient.â He said quietly âIâll go say goodbye to Im and Boh.â Xaden said, giving my hand one more squeeze. âDon't go.â I said softly burying my head into Garrick as he wrapped his arms around me âYou know I wish I didn't have to baby girl. I love you, three weeks are going to go by like nothing.â âI love you so much.â I whispered, reaching up to kiss his lips and letting our hands find each other one more time as he gave my fingers a soft squeeze before I made my way closer to Bodhi and Imogen, watching as my brother and my boyfriend mounted their dragons to go fight and protect the front lines of Samara. âYou ok?â Bodhi asked as Cuir landed next to Celeste âI will be.â âI know.â Bodhi said, wrapping me in a hug as I noticed Imogen making her way back up the flight field. So whatâs my surprise? A flight, I know you could use it, it's been a few days. âReady ?â Bodhi asked? âI nodded my head yes as Bodhi added Celeste talked to Cuir this am.â âOf course she did.â I said, shaking my head as we mounted our dragons.Â
                                                  Raelynnâ's POV
Several months had passed since Garrick and Xaden both left for Samara. I left the dining hall with my squad as we made our way to battle brief. Ridoc picked my bag up from the floor before I could protest. âRid.â I started reaching for my stuff. âYou're carrying enough already.â He said patting my now 7 month old and very pregnant looking belly. I sighed knowing it was a lost battle. Ridoc wasn't the only one in our squad making sure I was taken care of even though Boh was the number one suspect in that area and I know that Garrick and Xaden were behind it. âThanks again.â I said as we sat in our seats in the large auditorium. I now sat between Sawyer and Ridoc again, my new normal seat ever since the start of the near year when it was usually by Violet and Rhiannon. Professor Devera and Colonel Markham entered. âThere was an attack on one of our fronts last night.â She stated. I want questions from first years only first. âWhat front?â Sloane, Liamâs younger sister asked. âSamara.â I swallowed hard in my throat looking behind me to catch the gaze of my cousin above me. âHow many casualties?â âThree, but we want to know any names until tomorrow's death roll. There would have been more but more protective measures were already in place before attackers arrived.â I instinctively placed a hand on Ridocâs thigh as he rested his hand on mine and squeezed softly in support.Â
Celeste? I asked mentally. Iâm trying but they are too far out, I canât hear my brother any way. I sighed, not sure how much longer I can sit in this battle brief and hold my composure not knowing if my boyfriend and brother were ever going to return to me. âThey have to know.â I whispered quietly as I felt Ridoc squeeze my hand as Sawyers' hand also found my other. I closed my eyes and laid my head on Ridocâs shoulder; at this current point in time it was the only thing I could do to keep my composure. âHey, class is over.â Ridoc whispered as I slowly opened my eyes and realized Bodhi and Ridoc and I were the only ones still in the room. âI just want to go to my room.â I whispered âWell this wingleader gives you and Ridoc the afternoon off so you're not alone.â âThanks Boh.â I said, giving my cousin a hug. We reached my room on the second floor, Xaden standing in front of my door holding a single flight jacket. âIâm sorry.â he whispered softly as Ridoc took Garricks flight jacket as I buried myself into my brother.Â
âI just saw him two days ago.â I whispered âI know, I know.â Xaden soothed.âI canât stay long but I didnât want you to hear this from anyone else and I wanted to make sure you're not alone.â he said looking in Ridocâs direction. âChradh?â I asked not wanting more pain for Celeste. âHe's a little scratched up but fine. Garrick was on foot going to collect a box marked with a rune they were tracking and he was surprised and attacked from behind.â âI wish you didn't have to leave again.â âI know I wish I didn't have to either. Letâs get you settled.â Xaden said and opened the door. âIâll be back this weekend, itâs Sgaeyls turn to fly here.â I nodded my head against my brother. As he warped Garrickâs jacket which still smelled of him which was a slight scent of patchouli and mint. âIâll see you in a few days. I promiseâ Xaden said standing up as Ridoc sat on the bed. âI love you. Iâll be back soon.â âI love you too.â I said as Xaden shut the door and that was when I completely lost it. âI canât do this.â I whispered as Ridoc took me in as I sunk into his warmth. âEspecially not alone, not being practically 8 months pregnant.â âYou're not going to be alone, Iâm going to be right here, I promise Iâm not going to leave your side. Itâs gonna be ok Momma.â He whispered. âRid you donât have to do that, I canât ask that of you.â âYou're not asking me to do anything.â He said reassuringly. âIâm always gonna be here for you and little one.â He said. âRidâ I sighed through a yawn. :âYeah Rae?â He asked as he laid us down. âCan we sleep the rest of the day? I'm really exhausted and someone has decided he wants to move.â I said as Ridoc chuckled as I placed his hand on my stomach. âOf course your bodyâs been through alot you need rest.â Ridoc said softly through his own yawn. I knew at this moment no matter what life decided to toss at me that I would always be taken care of.Â
A/N There is one more part coming up to this series.Â

Mermaid reader x teddy!Beatles part 2!
John and George over here!
Paul
Somehow, Paul makes it home with all his Dad's things without being caught
Truly, it's a miracle
But it's not all thanks to avoiding his dad's wrath that he can't believe he's alive...
Whenever he gets some good, quality alone time, he takes out your scale and just admires it
You were beautiful in the moonlight of course, but somehow this scale alone is even more gorgeous in the light of day
This particular scale has a green and blue iridescence to it, and it's the most lovely thing he's ever seen
He honestly feels like he can see a different hue in it every day if he turns it juuuust right
And of course, it is nice to have on hand
Paul assumed you were just using a turn of phrase when you told him it was "for luck"
But it would seem he was mistaken...
Now he doesn't have many stories to tell, but last week there was a calculous test he absolutely was supposed to fail
And yet... He got a B+
A B+ !!!
That's never happened before, even if he did study
Then there was another time he won a nice lot of cash at billiards...
And the time he found a brand new free bus punch pas on the ground...
His dad sure was pleased at that one
He's even been noticing some improvements in his bass playing, particularly on the few times he tried using the scale as a pick
All these thoughts swirled in Paul's mind as he lays awake in bed
He's been so fortunate lately, and it's all thanks to you and your gift
If only he could just thank you...
He feels like it's the least he owes you
Especially considering he accidentally snagged you on a fishing line for your first meeting...
That's it. He's going to do it!
Paul turns over in his bed with a grin plastered to his face as a plan to sneak out to the lake formulates in his mind
He doesn't get the time to actualize said plan until a few days later however
Not ideal, but manageable
He decides on the same plan as last time: late at night, when no one is around
But it isn't until he's arrived at the pier that he realizes he hasn't considered how he'll get in contact with you
Paul paces back in forth in the dark
What to do, what to do...
First he decides to skip some stones
Hopefully none of them hit you, but perhaps disturbing the water will get your attention
When that doesn't work, he settles for something a little more rudimentary
Paul takes as deep a breath as he can, and yells a long "hello?" across the water
He waits a few moments and assumes it didn't work, so he winds up for a second go
As if on cue, you pop up from below the waves with an agitated look on your face first
"Do you mind? Us normal people are trying to sleep!", You whisper yell
But then, you gasp, upon finally recognizing him
"You again?"
Paul jumps a foot in the air, quite startled by your sudden appearance
But he gets his wits about him soon enough, and he drops to his hands and knees, "Yeah, I've been looking for you!"
You give him a sideways look, but Paul cuts you off before you can pose a question
"Before you get upset! I um, I wanted to say... Thank you! You know, for the scale!"
You look at him as though you haven't a clue what he's talking about, then the memory comes back to you
"Oh, um... Sure?"
"No no, you don't understand! All these wonderful things have happened for me and my family, and I- well, we're a bit bad off, so really I-I can't thank you enough! I thought the least I could do was come back and say it"
Your face softens at that
Not many people would consider giving thanks for a mermaidâs gift, they seem to much rather just enjoy the profit
âOf course, uhm...?â
âOh, Paul!â
You smile at last and tell him your name out of courtesy
âWow, thatâs a lovely name! It suites a pretty bird like you, if you donât me sayingâ
Paul gives you a wink, and you laugh in surprise
You assume it was a one off thing, especially as you part soon after having a short chat, but...
He comes back a few more times on separate nights to meet with you and tell you about the latest goings on
And of course, squeezing in his flirting game here and there
At first you're not sure
After all, you've done this song and dance plenty of times before, and things never seem to work out
But Paul is kind, and charming, and polite...
So many things you've yet to experience from a human
Eventually, Paul starts visiting you from a different point on the edge of the lake in order to spend better time together
Itâs in the forest, away from the prying eyes of others
This allows him to visit you at all different hours, which gives him far more freedom to see you often
And before you know it, he brings you little gifts, like offerings, whenever he can spare something nice from his good fortune
âYou know, we had our first ever gig last night... They loved us! We already have another one lined up!â
Paul talks excitedly, while you rest and listen on the little blanket heâs set out for you both
âThatâs wonderful, Paul! Congratulationsâ
âYeah, thanks!â, Paul clears his throat and looks away demurely. âItâs all thanks to you, ya know...â
âOh I donât know about that, youâre very tal-!â
âNo, really it is... I um, I haven't told you this, but I've been using your scale as a pick for my bass here and there and... there's just something, magical about the sound it makes..."
He braces himself a bit, expecting you to feel indignant, no matter what his explanation
But instead you laugh, amazed to hear that it can do that too
And if course, touched to know that a piece of you was able to be with him for such a big event
So, Paul continues his story, "And I mean, the amount of coincidences that had to happen just for us to get in, let alone get another one lined up is too much for chance...â
He laughs casually, then gives a little stretch before putting his calloused hand over yours
Paul almost expects you to flinch or pull away, but... Nothing happens
No, you continue to look at him, a gentle, blissful smile gracing your face
Taking a little risk, he gently strokes the back of your palm
He speaks again, his voice dropping to a bit of a hush so that only you can hear âNot to mention I wouldnât even have applied for the place if you wouldnât have encouraged me to, hehâ
"Well... I suppose all that's true...", You lean in a little closer to him, resting your head on his leather clad shoulder
Paul nudges your hair with the tip of his nose, with a playful smile, "Now, if only I could think of a way to thank you..."
You pick your head up and smile mischievously back at him
By now, you've begun to enjoy his cheesy little flirts
You glance from his eyes to his lips and back again, "Hm, I might be able think of something..."
Paul bites his lip and gives a toothy grin, leaning in slowly
Not missing a beat, you meet him halfway, gently closing the gap between you
And you soon decide, it's the best thank you you've ever received...
Well, right next to the one that came after it
Ringo
Ever since that day on the docks, Ringo canât get you out of his mind
He thought for sure he was dead
In fact, he wouldâve been for sure if you hadnât saved him
He owes you his life
All he wants to do is see you one more time...
There was so much he wanted to say before you swam off
So here he is, alone at the abandoned dock for the third time this week
Itâs about noon on a Saturday right now
The sun is warm and bright above while the ocean waves lap peacefully to and fro below
Ringo is still nursing several bruises from the last time, and as much as thereâs a risk heâll take another beating, heâs willing to take his chances
Of course, no sooner has the thought crossed his mind, then do the sounds of three familiar boots stomp up the old wood planks behind him
âStarkey! âAvenât you learned you lesson yet?â
âYeah, this is our dock!â
The boys taunt and threaten, as they approach Ringo once again
This time, he tries to take a stand
Unfortunately, any words he tries to say are washed out by the sudden rushing of the tide behind him
Then, by the laughing and jeering of the other gang
"Wha's that? Can't 'ear ya!"
Another round of mocking laughter, and suddenly Ringo feels about 2 feet tall
When the boys start to calm down, the leader of the teds gets very serious and sheds his jacket before handing iit to one of the others
" 'old this, don't want to soil it..."
But Ringo can barely hear them over the sound of the water
Is it high tide already?
The leader hardly takes a few steps forward before stopping at the curious sight of a sudden, large shadow
All the boys look up to see a massive, tsunami sized wave arcing up and over the edge of the pier
Just as soon as it arrived, it comes crashing on top of the other teds
Hundreds of pounds of water lay them flat against the wood, and by the time they're able to catch their wits and stand, they turn tail, leaving Ringo all alone
Ringo, who is perfectly unharmed...
The remaining pool of water dribbles off the edge of the pier, providing a little something for Ringo to focus on while he tries to collect his own wits
Just then, a gentle tap comes at his lower back, causing him to whip around
Your eyes are just barely peaking over the ledge when you whisper, "Are you alright?"
A great weight feels lifted off of him, as Ringo turns fully to face you
"Me? Fine! D-did you do that?", He nods over his shoulder, breathless, but excited
You smile and nod, "It's a bit... tiring... But it was worth it"
Know that he's calmed down a bit, you do sound a little out of breath
"Oh... Well, thank you... Really, I mean it!", he pauses, and then, "Say, do you want to rest a minute? Maybe on the shore? I can watch and make sure no one bothers ya!"
You're about to interject, maybe tell him he doesn't have to do that, but there's something about the look on his eyes that tells you he's not offering just to be nice
So instead, you agree, and Ringo meets you shortly amongst the brush and the rocks just a stone's throw from the pier
He takes a seat on a rock, as a wave gracefully deposits you on the sand
You crawl a short distance to a rock of your own and prop yourself up on it, enjoying the time to rest
As you get settled, Ringo can't help but admire you
He's focused on your tail and all the intricate, shimmering scales and fins that adorn it
Of course, you notice his staring, "...Does it bother you?"
Ringo snaps out of his daydream, "Huh? Oh, uh no! Not at all!"
He scratches the back of his head, and ducks down a bit
Even behind his scraggly beard, you can see a little blush
"Sorry... I um, I just think you're pretty..."
You're not sure why, but that makes you blush a bit too
You've been told that a thousand times before by humans, sailors, and mermen alike
But when Ringo says it, there's something more... innocent to it
Like a childhood crush, or a romance that blossoms between two close friends
"Oh... Thank you...", is about all you manage to get out
Ringo runs his fingers through his hair, trying to fix it up a bit, "My name's Ringo, by the way... Er, no, actually it's Ritchie, but me friends call me Ringo"
He holds up his hand and shows you a collection of various and intricate rings as though to justify his statement
They glint and gleam in the sun, all the various metals and gemstones like a kalidascope to your eyes
Ringo notices how transfixed you are, and feels a bit encouraged
Perhaps he hasn't scared you off just yet...
He takes a gamble, "Would you like to see them up close?"
You refocus onto him, "Well... If you wouldn't mind, sure!"
Your tail gives a swish behind you, betraying you and your excitement
Ringo hops up and over to your rock and takes as seat right beside you
The proximity startles you a bit, but he seems so excited to show off his collection to you, that you forget all about it
He splays out his hand for you to see, and you end up holding it in yours while he points to the details of each ring, telling their stories
His hands are rough and callused, with a bit of soft hair coming in around his knuckles
They're a bit bigger then yours still, which you find a little humorous
He's like a puppy that's growing into it's adult body, with his short stature yet large hands and ears and eyes...
Now that you mention it, they're just so blue...
"And this one, I- Uhm, are you alright?"
"Hm? Oh, sorry! I just- ahem. You're eyes... They're so pretty"
With your free hand, you gently caress the very edge of his eye socket then give the bridge of his big ol nose a few playful scratches
Ringo's heart leaps in his chest and a gleeful smile slowly spreads throughout his face
See, he's not like John or Paul... They have birds all over them
And what does he get? Teased. Ignored. Sometimes flat made fun of...
So to have such a beautiful woman as you take even a little fancy to him...
He's over joyed
The rings are immediately forgotten, and you tell him a bit more about what you like about him
You like the hair on his face... What is that called?
You like his smile, and the way he laughs...
And yes, you do like his nose, since he asked
Ringo feels like he's floating on a cloud. The genuine affection he's getting from you right now is beyond anything he ever dreamed of
He has to say something...
With a little clearing of the throat, Ringo gathers up how confidence to take oneore chance for the day
"So erm, is there... anyone waiting for you? You know, back there?", You nod towards the infinite sea
You look away, a sad smile tugging at your lips, "No, not really... Why?"
Ringo can feel his heart hammering now, and he takes his chance
"Well I was just wondering..."
He slips one of his precious rings off and hold it out to you
"If maybe you'd like to see each other... M-more often?"
Your eyes light up, and you realize that yes, yes you would like to do that...
He's estatic to hear it, and to seal the deal he slips his ring on your finger
For safe keeping, he says
And before you both part ways for the day, you make sure to give him his first, little kiss

What is a good CAT score? Top universities to enroll
To be admitted to a top business school, you must have a general idea of a good CAT score and how to achieve it. CAT scores between 201 and 180 are considered good. The raw scores are then converted into percentile to obtain the final results. A good CAT score, however, differs for each institute.
The acceptance scores for each institution are rising due to the tough competition, thus resulting in candidates scoring 99.9% of the time or higher. The CAT exam is one of the most competitive MBA entrance exams. Each university that accepts CAT scores releases its respective cutoff list for the year 2022. Candidates need a good CAT score to pass the cutoff and a high sectional percentile to be accepted into one of the top B-schools.Â
What is the CAT score?
A candidateâs performance on the entrance exam determines the CAT score. Several factors determine the CAT score. The exam carries 198 total points, and candidates must pass all three portions. Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DILR), Quantitative Aptitude (QA), and Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension (VARC) each have 20 questions.
How to Calculate CAT score?
The percentile gets converted into CAT results to summarize the final merit list. The relative score also takes into account the CAT percentile. The conducting authority instituted this procedure to promote equality. Because the IIMs administer the exam in many slots, and each slotâs difficulty level varies.
The CAT percentile is calculated by comparing other candidatesâ marks. The following list includes the percentile calculation formula.
P = (R/N) * 100,
where P is the percentile score,
R is the candidateâs rank as determined by the scaled CAT score or the total number of candidates who score below you,Â
and N is the number of candidates who attempted the CAT exam (all three sessions).
What is a good CAT score?
Since each B-school has a distinct cutoff for selecting candidates for shortlisting rounds, the definition of a good CAT score will vary from institute to institute.Â
For example, IIMs require a minimum 95 percentile to get accepted. However, other B-schools such as IIFT, IITs, FMS Delhi, and SPJIMR admit CAT scores below the 95 percentile. Comparatively speaking to IIMs, third-tier B-schools may select applicants with slightly lower than average CAT scores.Â
Good CAT score for all tiers of B-schools
A good CAT score will differ for each institute, as previously discussed. However, you might benefit from obtaining a genuine CAT score. Although several management institutions and elite B-schools accept a decent CAT score, the cutoffs for IIMs are high. Now letâs look at the range of grades for the three tiers of colleges.
Tips to Achieve a Good Score in CAT
Aim high, and youâll succeed high. After stating that, weâll provide tips on improving your CAT score. These are the essential requirements for exam success.
Keeping an Eye on the Sectional-Marks Division
Three main areas- QA, DILR, and VARC are the foundation for the CAT questions. Learning the precise making and question division for each segment is vital. This table will better help you to know:
Self-Assessment
You must be aware of your skills and shortcomings while you study for the CAT exam. You will be better prepared and grasp things more clearly. Furthermore, you may focus most of your effort on addressing the shortcomings once you have covered all your areas of strength. It is one of the best strategies for acing the test.
Use the Previous Questions as Practice
To step up your game, use the CAT previous yearâs question papers. The weighting of the themes and the division of the sectional marks can be verified using the previous question papers. Additionally, you can improve your time management skills by using them as models. You can use your methods to improvise and develop.
Enroll in Sample Tests
For ambitious CAT aspirants, numerous online platforms and websites offer to practice exams. You can register for the test at any of the centers. Examine your development and focus on the areas where you can improve. If your first effort didnât result in a score of 90%, donât be discouraged. Maintain your practice and keep enrolling for the CAT mock tests.
Use Online Platforms
to Engage in worthwhile CAT material in the internet age. You can use online platforms like Physics Wallah. Keep your social media away and focus on creating a solid foundation for the future. When the right solution video appears, attempt to understand the issues and get your questions solved by searching for the subjects you are uncertain about.

Italian literature tournament - Third round.

Propaganda in support of the authors is accepted, you can write it both in the tag if reblog the poll (explaining maybe that is propaganda and you want to see posted) or in the comments. Every few days it will be recollected and posted here under the cut.
Propaganda for Francesco Petrarca by @alieneye
Petrarca for the win: Dante can take his Inferno and chill.
Letâs get real. Dante wrote fanfiction about himself meeting Virgil and hanging out with dead celebs. Cool story, bro. But Petrarca? He INVENTED simping. The Canzoniere is basically the OG sad boy playlist, and we've all been there - pining for someone who doesnât even know we exist. Petrarca made it ART.
Dante's like, "Oh, I walked through Hell, Purgatory, and Heaven." Okay, but did you walk through the depths of your own emotions while composing fire sonnets about your crush who died 20 years ago? No. Petrarca did that.
Also, without Petrarca, the Renaissance wouldn't have happened (I won't accept any contradiction). Thatâs right - your fave painters, writers, and thinkers were all Petrarca stans. Dante didn't spark the Renaissance; he just brooded in his afterlife epic while Petrarca was out here rediscovering ancient texts and flexing his Latin. You're welcome, humanity.
And can we talk about relatability? Dante wrote in terza rima, which no one uses anymore because it's like trying to write a poem while solving a Rubik's cube. Petrarca gave us the Petrarchan sonnet: simple, elegant, iconic.
Vote Petrarca: Because sad poetry about unattainable love > Danteâs mid-life crisis tour.

India's educational system in the new era and its contributions

India has a system for education to grow youth :Â
India now offers a greater range of educational opportunities for families that are relocating abroad. However, parents need to be aware of some potential drawbacks that could result from the sector's rapid expansion of international schools. India is the sixth-largest economy in the world right now and is anticipated to surpass the US as the third-largest by the year 2030. India is the second-largest English-speaking country in the world after the US. Only 5% of the population currently speaks English, and the majority of Indians are unfamiliar with Western norms, despite the country's immense potential.
India also features one of the world's most intricate educational systems. It is also one of the biggest, with more than a million schools and more than 200 million pupils. India's education system for kids and teenagers has recently seen a considerable improvement. But a long distance still needs to go before many relocating families would be inclined to think about using its public school system. Thankfully, a number of foreign educational institutions have relocated to India's major cities over the years. Many schools are aiming to build additional campuses, giving relocating families a wide range of possibilities.
Adding more choices :
Due to the global expansion of these school networks, there are currently more than 525 English-medium international schools in India, 30% of which are based in Mumbai and Bangalore.
Like many other international schools in India, the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme is offered at Pathways World School, a grouping of three schools in Gurgaon and Noida in the Delhi National Capital Region. The IB has made a name for itself as the primary success story in secondary education during the last 30 years. It is currently available in more than 150 countries worldwide.
The IB is frequently chosen by families coming to India who are concerned about the transferability of their children's education because it is accessible to students from all over the world and from different educational backgrounds.
Education is a powerful instrument for creating a cultured and progressive nation. A better quality of life and a wealthy future are largely dependent on education, particularly in a developing country like India, which has a population of over 136 crore. Not to mention, every resident of India is entitled to a quality education. This blog contains information on the importance of education in India and its role in Indian society. Every Indian citizen, regardless of gender or social background, has the right to an education. It promotes a democratic society with a polite and refined neighborhood. Economically disadvantaged groups can be assisted by education, which also opens up a wide range of career and work opportunities. An education that is well-rounded results in a silent exchange of ideas, facts, and admirable behaviors. Importantly, education guarantees those who receive it a happy and wealthy future. Furthermore, it aids in easing wrongdoing and psychological repression.
Conclusion :Â
At komalimam online platform, we are aware of the importance of future education as a factor in both an individual's and an organization's overall success. Arsitolius: Chapter one

Early Sunday morning brought about the loud humdrum of the copper Church Bell that loomed over the city streets. The mundane sound almost seemed to be like a beat that herded the numbers of crowded people across the streets as if it were some boring dance.
A group of Ravenâs scattered themselves upon the roof of a building, pecking strenuously at an unidentifiable object that had been scattered across the shingles. Theyâd appeared to make a snack of whatever the substance was. Suddenly, they scattered in a flurry as a red boot planted itself between their cluster, sending them flying in all directions as they squawked and screeched in an ear piercing outcry.
Ateri knelt in the spot theyâd moved from, white hair falling down over her shoulders as her red eyes scanned the people on the street below. She was a young, short, petite elven woman, with a cantankerous personality almost as blazing red as the bright crimson of her boots. Her hair was crystal white, and any strand that the sunlight could reach glimmered with utmost beauty; like fresh sparkling snow in the morning. Her skin was fair, face soft and slightly rounded with light freckles scattering her cheeks and button nose. She wore a hood silver in color and rimmed with red fabric that shined like silk. She seemed to be armored underneath the silver fabric, dressed far less femininely than most women her age.. But what had to be the strangest yet most alluring thing about her was her eyes. Each one of her glossy orbs were a deep, crimson red, round and almost curious about the world around her. As far as her appearance, she was strangely stunning.
Tucking a strand of hair behind the distinct point of her elven ear she pressed herself closer to the roof below her so as to not be seen by the masses below. No, being seen certainly would not be in her best interest. You see, three officials of the highest capital estate had been been murdered on trips to the third estate within the past four months; slaughtered where they stood amongst the city streets. Theyâd been dead before theyâd even flashed a glance at their killer, and the crowded people had gone into a furious flurry at the shock of the bloodied body suddenly hitting the ground.
Ateri had been responsible for all three murders, but she took no guilt in what she had done. The first official sheâd murdered was a thief, taking money and lives just like her, yet heâd gotten away with it. Heâd planned to come down from the all mighty golden palace for a brief three day trip to work on getting an order for higher taxes in the third estate only to find heâd be staying for a lot longer than that. Ateri dealt with him discreetly in an alleyway late one evening. To say the least the tax rates of the third estate were so far left unchanged.
The other two had come to do despicable things not much different if not worse from the first. Ateri had dealt with them in the same manner, getting more and more daring with each attack. However, her impulsive temper and ego had gotten the better of her, to say the least. Her most recent assassination had not gone as well as the others. The senator from The west of the first estate had come down for a weekend to get some things in order with the people, as well as to collect those who hadnât paid their dues in taxes. But the last two murders had made the capital weary. They had begun to send more guards with each visit. Senator Riley Malyonâs Plethora of armored body guards could quite possibly be described as a whole fleet, and Ateri knew full well that attempting to pull him away from the crowds would only end in failure and quite possibly her untimely demise. She wasnât risking it. At first she thought it would be best to just back off; to let the fear sheâd already caused die down a bit and lay low till an opportunity was open. However, like iâd stated before, she was an impulsive young woman. Many of her decisions were based on nothing but pure emotion. Not many of those said decisions were good. This happened to be one of those cases. Upon seeing a young housewife getting pulled away from her children by a guard sheâd made a dumb decision, and in the brief second that Maylon was vulnerable sheâd lept from the roof of the building above and struck as hard and as fast as she could. The brief overwhelming shock of his strangled cry and splattering blood had been enough of a distraction to give her an escape, but it was narrow. She was lucky to be alive. However she hadnât gotten out completely scotch free. Her brief appearance in the pale moonlight had been just enough for her appearance to finally be seen by weary eyes. And even though her hood had covered her eyes and most of her nose. The public now had her approximate age, height, stature, hair color and build. A watchful guard had given her full description to officials following the morning after Maylonâs death. Everyone knew who to look out for on the streets now. Theyâd even given her a name, which shockingly Ateri quite enjoyed. The public seemed to take a liking to calling her the silver hood, since they had no other name to call her by. Ateri thought it had a wonderful ring to it, feeling it gave her a mysterious vibe. However she knew she couldnât just go around claiming it on the streets. She hadnât even been caught yet and the sentence hanging above her head was death. The bounty on her head to anyone that could bring her in was a copious amount. It would be near enough to move a man and his family from the third estate to the first. Ateri couldnât help but wonder if that wealth would be given to her if she were to turn herself in. it was a joke that sheâd made with herself quite some time before, and a joke that she still found funny even in her current state. She laughed slightly at the thought of iit as she leapt down from the roof and rounded the corner, catching a brief glimpse of a poster hanging upon the wall, the words âWANTED, DEAD OR ALIVE.â written in large red letters across the top of the page. She smirked slightly, pausing to step back and pick up the page.
âThe silver hood, wanted for four counts of capital murder. If seen do not approach. Run to get a guard immediately. DO NOT go after her yourself. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.â She couldnât help but raise a brow slightly, irked by the statement. She wasnât going to just start killing random civilians! She stepped back throwing the paper to the ground and giving a good stomp just for safe measure before turning and walking off. The less drawings of her just hanging around the city the better. One less for people to see. She grumbled slightly before carefully peaking around a corner to assure that the path was clear. She hummed as in the distance as the bell rung for the third time. It was noon, perfect. You see, today wasnât going to be another day where she could let herself lay low. No, today was the day she planned to start preparing her next move. She was going to rip the capital apart bit by bit until shed made her way to Serphentez herself. She didnât care how long it took. However, she knew if she was going to keep up like this she couldnât just keep using a dagger for every attack. She was going to need something bigger, sharper, stronger. Sheâd recently made a deal in the shadows with blackmarket salesman of sorts. And heâd offered her an incredibly sharp sword in exchange for a gracious price. Ateri had agreed to the deal, offering him the money sheâd taken off Maylon in exchange for the blade. And so it was a set deal. Heâd get the sword for her, without any questions as to who she was and what she needed it for, and in exchange she would pay him for his trouble. It seemed fair enough. All she knew was this was the set date she was to pick up the sword, at exactly noon in the red sales tent by the clock tower. Sheâd been watching the tent for an hour or so from a rooftop already to secure her safety, watching for anyone else that could have possibly entered or left that strange tent, but nobody did. It appeared to be forgotten in the sea of other colorful tents with shopkeepers screaming about sales and good prices. She figured this would be an easy pickup, in and out with no suspicion. So as the clock struck noon she pulled the brown fabric of a beggars cloak from her bag, wrapping it around herself and pulling the hood over head head to cover the telling greys and reds of her signature garments. She stepped into the crowd of people, head down and eyes to the floor as she made her way through the stampede.
âExcuse me.â
âIâm sorry.â
âMy apologies.â
âHey- watch it chick these boots werenât cheap!â
âHey!â
Through the crowds it seemed everyone seemed to be shouting, though none seemed to be directing said shouts at her. She grumbled slightly, squeezing through a crowd of a mother with her six children.
âSir, please... there has to be something you can do i have a family to feed!â
âListen here wench. No money, no bread.â She paused in her tracks.
âExcuse me....?â Her voice rang out quiet, yet enough for the man to hear. He looked up.
âYeah- Ya heardzâ me. So beat it kid.â She turned slowly and let one hand slip out from under her cloak, tossing a singular coin onto the counter. The man eyed her in shock, not seeming to understand why sheâd done such a thing. She huffed slightly.
âGod are ya so dang stupid ya canât figure it out? Get the stick out of your rear and give that woman the bread before i make ya regret it got me?â The man seemed to hear from the tone of her voice that she wasnât playing around and nodded, slowly sliding the loaf of bread across the table towards the young woman. She couldnât have been older than twenty five, with stress lines creasing around her lovely blue eyes and hair already going gray. A spot of dirt was smudged against her cheek, which Ateri noticed as the woman turned to start hysterically thanking her for her generosity. Ateri cut her off with a shake of her head and reached up to wipe the smudge from her cheek.
âDonât thank me. Just take it.â She mumbled. The woman watched for a second in shock as she disappeared around the corner without a word.
Slipping into the tent she dusted herself off. It took her eyes a moment to adjust from the light outside to the sudden darkness within the closed tent. But a voice rang out, catching her attention.
âYouâre quite the patron.... for a thief.â
She paused, read eyed glancing up from under her hood.
âYouâve been watching me?â She mumbled, shocked that heâd picked her from the crowd.
âFor as long as youâve been watching me from that rooftop.â He hummed back in reply. Ateri froze. Heâd seen her watching him....? That must have meant he saw her without her-.... she narrowed her eyes, preparing herself for a fight if there was one to be had. Surely if he knew who she actually was things couldnât end pretty. The man seemed to sense exactly what was on her mind.
âOh donât tense up like that. I know what youâre capable of Iâd have to be an idiot to take you on myself.â
Now that her eyes had adjusted to the light she could clearly see him standing there next to a table, a chair pulled out for her. He was young, but definitely older than her. She assumed him to be in his early thirties, with muscular arms and dark smooth skin. His eyes were narrow and refined, like a sly fox in the dim light. However, taking his words to mind she cautiously stepped forwards and ushered him out of her way, muttering a soft
âThank you.â As she seated herself and he pushed her chair back in. This was an under the radar black market sale she wasnât so sure why he was going to the trouble of being so polite. It unnerved her to say the least.
The man gave a humble nod in reply as he leisurely sauntered his way around to his side of the wooden table, kicking up dust as he did so. Pulling his chair out with a loud screech he plopped himself down, placing his elbows on the table and lacing his fingers. Ateri attempted to mimic his actions, hoping it would make her seem like she knew what she was doing. It didnât work as planned however and the mysterious man seemed to get more of a kick out of it than sheâd wanted him to.
âDrink?â He offered graciously, pouring himself a glass of whisky before looking up at her as he held the bottle over the second glass as he waited for her reply.
âYes thatâd be nice.â She mumbled out, graciously accepting the glass as he slid it to her. She nursed it in both hands, taking a sip before cringing slightly at the strong taste. He cackled slightly.
âI take it youâre not a drinker?â He hummed softly, raising a brow curiously as he gave a sly smile. She didnât look up but quite rudely retorted.
âNo i live in the third estate and Iâd like to not starve. I do suppose that when i get Zygerot Iâd like to spend it on food, not booze.â She sneered slightly. The man put his hands up defensively.
âOkay okay. Donât get yourself all in a twist sweetie i was just asking. The nameâs Vynos. Yourâs?â
âIâd prefer to remain anonymous, and donât call me sweetie.â
The man frowned.
âWell then what am i to call a fair maiden such as yourself by?â He smiled slightly, leaning down slightly to try and get a peek under her hood. She literally placed the entire palm of her hand over his face, pushing him back with a dangerous growl.
âAnything but sweetie.â She spat. The man sighed.
âOkay, fine honey.â
Ateri growled angrily which seemed to bring a sleazy smile to Vynosâs face as he leaned back in his seat. Ateri decided not to protest any further. She just wanted to take her sword and get out of there.
âLook-â she growled.
âI didnât come here to stick around and chat.â She laid the bag of coins on the table.
âSo give me the sword and let me go.â
âAwe.â Vynos pouted slightly, giving her a look that she wanted to punch straight off his face.
âYouâd arenât gonna stay around to chat?â
âSorry.â She grunted insincerely.
âIâm not a chatter.â
The man sighed but shrugged.
âFine.â He reached for the sword before pausing. Ateri stiffened slightly, the hairs on the back of her neck suddenly standing up. Something didnât feel right. He smirked slightly.
âBut i do want one more thing.....â
Ateri raised a brow.
âThat wasnât the deal.â She spat.
âWell my deals change.â He sat back up with a grin. Ateriâs hands balled into fists. She wasnât leaving this tent without that sword.
âDonât worry donât worry!â Vynos waved her off.
âItâs nothing you canât handle! I donât want anymore money from you my sweet... sweet flower.â Ateri narrowed her eyes as he reached one hand out and gently brushed his fingers under her chin.
âI just want the truth.â He breathed. She growled slightly, about to stand up and flip the table on him when he grabbed her with such a sudden force that she couldnât breath, and she was yanked back with her back against his chest..... and a dagger to her throat.
âYouâre the silver hood arenât you?â
Ateri swallowed harshly, closing her eyes and cringing.
âAnd if i tell you what will you do?â She breathed out shakily. She knew sheâd been pulled into a position where she couldnât fight back. She could practically feel his smirk.
âDoesnât matter. Youâve already given yourself away.â
Ateriâs eyes widened and she gulped before growling.
âWhat the hell do you want...?â She hissed through bared teeth.
âWell, my dear Silver sinner....â he breathed.
âThe bounty on your head is 20â000 Zygerots. Do you know how much that is....?â A wicked smile spread across his lips.
âIâm well aware.â Ateri spat.
âSo what.. ya gonna take me to the guards?â
âNo.â He said.
âIâm going to take you out to the woods far outside the walls of Serphica. I have somebody waiting there for me who seems to want you... very badly my dear. So much so that theyâre willing to pay me for your delivery.â He smirked
âAnd while weâre on the subject of money.â He cooed softly, voice laced with underlying venom. Ateri suddenly felt his hand in her pocket, and gasped, squirming as he used two fingers to pluck her dagger away from her. She snarled as he laughed.
âAfter i turn this into the capital... they too will pay me for finally getting rid of their greatest nuisance...Youâ
Ateri spat, struggling pointlessly against his grasp as her chest rose and fell rapidly and her nostrils flared with rage.
âOh please.... you really think theyâll believe you over a damn dagger!â
âOh i do...â Vynos chuckled.
âBut it doesnât matter to you anyways now does it? By the time Iâm turning that dagger in. Youâll most likely be dead....â
Ateri gulped And She couldnât help but think
âDear god... what have i gotten myself intoâ

Available on Ao3
Chapter 7: The Reunion
Days at the surgery were, in a word, tedious. Depending on the time the building could be flooded with a never ending stream of patients. Cats, dogs, mice, hamsters, birds, gerbils, even reptiles were all frequent visitors to the small country clinic. And as such this made work very difficult for the small team of veterinarians who worked there. Some days it would a be a challenge to get everyone seen and make it through the day without cat scratches or pecks from annoyed parrots.Â
And then you had some days where it seemed like nothing happened, like the goddesses had met up for tea and decided that,âNo, Ordon shall not face any great medical disaster with its animals today,â and given everyone the day off. Days where the only people to enter the building were delivery men and staff returning from their lunch break.
Link hated the quiet days.
Heâd never normally hated them. Sure, he used to get a little restless with nothing to do, but heâd never go so far as to say he hated them. Mild dislike yes, but never hate.
But then, he supposed, heâd never normally had the need to distract himself as much.
Every free second was spent thinking about Her. The way she walked, the way she talked, the perfect curl of her smile, the dazzling blue of her eyes! Heâd half expected himself to be over her by now. Iit had been four months since Zelda Harkinian was last in town, and yet his every waking moment was devoted to wondering about her, and wondering if she was thinking about him too.
He wanted to blame Rusl. The elder vet had put that ridiculous mantra in his head, Thereâs always a chance, even if that chance grew less and less with each turn of the minute hand that he was currently staring at.
Link was sitting in the waiting room, his white coat thrown over one of the chairs as he fixed his eye on the clock. The monotonous ticking marked the slow march of the day. Half past four, only three and a half hours left to go. In the corner of the room Ilia sat at her desk, methodically reading through her coursework, the sound of paper turning breezed through the air in rhythm with the never ending thud of the clock. It would have been almost peaceful if it hadnât been so warm.
âI thought you had a summer break?â Link asked, his voice shattering the fragile silence of the waiting room. He watched Ilia jump, accidentally flinging her pen up in the air. She scrambled to try and catch it, wincing as it hit of the rim of her mug and fell to the floor.
âI do,â she huffed, leaning down to rescue her pen. âBut thereâs nothing wrong with trying to keep my mind sharp. Better than just sitting around in this heatâ
Summers in Ordon were known for their warmth. A damp humid air from Faron rolling across the winds, only made worse by the unrelenting sun up above. The storms offered little respite from the omnipresent heat, only really clearing the air for a day or two until the Faron winds choked them once more.
âI donât know how you can concentrate,â he muttered, tugging at the collar of his shirt. Heâd already unbuttoned the top two buttons, unbuttoning the third would just make him look silly. Well⌠sillier than he already did. The heat had no doubt turned his cheeks and ears bright pink.
âI canât,â Ilia sighed. A soft thud indicated that sheâd shut her book, apparently giving up on studying for the time being. Link would have laughed if he didnât feel so lethargic, doing nothing was exhausting. At least I donât live in Gerudo, he thought as he wiped a hand across his brow, I donât think I could handle this kinda heat all year round. The Gerudo desert would be unbearable right now, but maybe Castleton would be better.
He wondered how hot it got in Castleton. Would the pavements sizzle? Would the smell of exhaust hang heavy in the air? Would people flock to the park in their lunch breaks? Would Zeldaâs office have functioning AC?
Zelda⌠how was she dealing with the summer heat?
Tipping his head back to stare at the ceiling, Link let out a mournful sigh, all air leaving his lungs in a defeated rush. He was doing it again, thinking about her. He needed to stop otherwise he was going to drive himself mad. Zelda was gone and there was nothing he could do to change that.
âWhatâcha thinkin bout?â Ilia mumbled, her voice pulling him from his thoughts. He turned his head to look at her, taking in the way she slumped over the desk, her cheek resting in her palm while she fanned herself with a pamphlet on, what looked like, deworming cats and dogs.
âNothin,â he lied, eyes turning back to the clock on the wall. Four fortyfive. How has it only been fifteen minutes?
âYouâre not thinking about Zelda again are you?â Ilia sighed softly, the arm holding her makeshift fan landing against the desk. She looked as tired as he felt, shoulders sagging and eyes drooping. Even the curl of her hair seemed to have given up the ghost as it hung against her neck.
âWhy would I be thinking about Zelda?â he scoffed, trying not to choke on his sarcasm.
âBecause youâve got the biggest crush on her in the history of Hyrule,â Ilia huffed. It wasnât a secret. At this point practically everyone in Ordon knew of Linkâs feelings towards the brunette heiress. Theyâd all agreed it was a damn shame to see him so heartsick, some even going as far as to call it cruel. Link disagreed with that; afterall, it wasnât Zeldaâs fault that heâd fallen for her as hard as he had. âHonestly Link...itâs been months. I donât th-â
âI know,â He cut in, wincing at the acid in his tone. âIâm sorry, Ilia⌠I just⌠I know itâs been ...I canât stop wondering...â Where would I be if sheâd never left?
Ilia pushed herself back in her chair, her bottom lip pulled between her teeth. âI know,â she sighed, fingers tugging at the hem of her T-shirt. âI know, Link, I do. But maybe it is time to move on. Get out there, meet someone newâ
Link sighed. She was only trying to help, he knew that, but the idea of going out and trying to find someone else to fall for⌠it all felt rather empty. Though he couldnât bring himself to admit this to Ila. He saw the way she looked at him, worry causing her shoulders to go tense, a false smile always plastered to her lips. She just wanted him to be happy.
Closing his eyes, Link let his head fall back against the chair. All energy leaving from his body with a deep and tired sigh. âMaybe it is,â he murmured, trying not to notice how heavy Iliaâs silence felt now.
Quiet filled the air once more, the repeated ticking of the clock seeping into the spaces left by the absence of  conversation. Outside the sun beat down against the dried earth filling the room with a blazing heat. Not for the first time that day, Link wondered if this was what the evil realm was like.
His wondering was halted when Ilia gave a loud sigh from across the room, throwing her makeshift fan at the desk with a ferocity that heâd never seen from her before. âHow does Rusl do it?!â She cried, red faced from exertion.
Rusl was one of the lucky few who rarely seemed affected by the heat. Every year the Faron winds would blow and every year the elder vet appeared to ignore them. It was one of the great unsolved mysteries in the surgery as to how he managed to accomplish such a feat (along with âwhoâs sandwich is that in the fridge?â and âwhy are there never any gummy worms in the vending machineâ) Linkâs money was on the theory that Rusl was part Goron and was therefore used to the heat, Ilia didnât seem to agree.
âYou know my theory,â he sighed running a hand through his hair.
Ilia ignored him, pushing herself away from the desk. âIâm gonna go find a fan,â she declared âWatch the desk for me? I doubt anyoneâs gonna show up but, y'know, just in case.â
Link gave a small nod of his head, watching as Ilia fled down the staff corridor. With a sigh he pushed himself from his seat, grimacing at the feel of sweat rolling down his spine.
The desk was placed right in front of the door, open and vulnerable to the blistering sun. No wonder Ilia was so uncomfortable, he thought reaching a hand up to tug at his collar. It was much warmer in this part of the room. He hoped sheâd be back soon as he dropped into her chair, he didnât think he could stand sitting in the sun for too long.
Now I just need to find something to do.
There was only three hours left of work and Link doubted that anyone would show up in that time. Five pm wasnât exactly their most active hour at the best of times, let alone on days where nothing happened. Running a hand through his hair, Link searched the desk for something to do. It would be better to keep busy he reasoned as he rifled through the drawers, maybe heâd find something interesting?
His heart sank at the sight of paper, bills, and a bag of hard candy that had gone sticky. Nothing he could use to entertain himself! Well⌠he could make a paper airplane? It had been years since heâd last made one but he was sure he could figure it out if he had enough time. But then again⌠Ilia probably needed the paper for something, he couldnât just use it all up without asking.
Resigned to boredom, Link gave the drawer a sharp kick. It made an almighty thud as it collided with the desk, slamming shut and then opening again from the force. He could feel his frustration grow the longer he sat in the sun. It seemed that everything was going wrong, he couldnât even kick a drawer back into place without having that backfire!
Link debated just leaving the drawer open. If it didnât want to close that wasnât his problem, and there was no way he was going to lower himself to the level of disobedient furniture! He wasnât going to fight with a desk, he was not! He refused! Why should he get down on his knees to close a stubborn drawer when a kick would have sufficed? It was unnatural, the desk was getting ideas above its station if it thought it could treat him this way.
Iâm going mad, he thought sliding to his knees under the desk. He pulled the drawer open fully to inspect it, frowning at the sight of the sticky candies littered against the bills and papers. Suddenly every complaint Ilia had ever made about ants made sense, if this was how she stored her sweets no wonder she was popular with the insects. Swallowing his discomfort, Link began sweeping the candies back into their bag. He really needed to have a word with Ilia about how she organised her desk drawers.
âHello?â A voice called out, musical, romantic, and achingly familiar. âIs there anyone there?â
Link jumped, electricity arcing through his body with every word that passed the strangers lips. Power charged through his legs and he rushed to stand up, the stubborn drawer and the disgusting candy all but forgotten to his frantic mind. Pushing himself upwards with all his might, Link tried to hold back a yelp as his head cracked against the underside of the desk.
Smooth one, Wolfe, he thought, a hand pressed against the steadily growing lump on his scalp, his eyes shut tight at the pain. From the otherside of the desk he heard the voice again, beautiful and soft and tainted with worry. âOh my goodness! Are you alright?â
âYeah,â Link breathed, standing up slowly this time to preserve his remaining brain cells. âMy dignity took the worst blow.â
The laugh that followed was nothing less than magic, a pure symphony. Wonderful lilting notes hung in the air around him as he straightened, soothing his injuries and his pride. He could listen to that laugh all day and never get tired of it. He eased his eyes open, trying to find the source of such an enchanting giggle, and his heart stopped.
He knew the voice was familiar, why it caused such a powerful reaction in him. Heâd heard it before, heâd listened to it in his dreams, heâd spent months replaying the last words sheâd ever said to him. Heâd recognize her voice anywhere.
She stood in front of him, brown hair piled in a messy bun at the back of her head, her face and neck flushed pink with the summer heat. At her side sat a large husky.
Zelda was back.
âH-hi,â he gasped, suddenly lost for breath. It felt like all the air in the world had vanished, leaving him floundering like a fish out of water.
âHi,â she sighed, a heart stopping smile curling over her lips. Screw suffocating, he felt like he was drowning! This couldnât be real, there was no way! The heat had finally gotten to him, heâd hit his head to hard, heâd fallen asleep and this was all just a dream.
âHow have you been, Link?â She asked and he wanted to faint. She was here, right in front of him!
âSwell,â he lied. âJust...great.â He could feel his cheeks begin to ache from how wide he was smiling. âA-and you? Howâve you been?â
âIâve been good,â She said, nodding a little too enthusiastically. âBusy...workâs been a little franticâ
âYeah,â he breathed lamely. Why was it so difficult to talk around her? She was just a person it shouldnât be so hard to just open his mouth and make conversation like a normal person! Comeon, Link. Think! get back on track. âWhat uhh..what brings you here? Is Naru okay? Whatâs up?â Perfect.
âOh! No, sheâs...sheâs fine.â Zelda started, her eyes flashing quickly to the Husky at her feet. Naru sat on the ground, her tongue lolling out of her mouth as she panted through the heat. âSheâs good thereâs nothing wrong with her. I just thought that...itâd be a good idea to get her checked over just in case. I mean what with the⌠heatâŚâ Zelda trailed off, lifting a hand to pull at the messy bun at the back of her neck. She looked⌠nervous? âI-I can come back later if nowâs not a good timeâ
Link gave the room a quick glance. He took in the still chairs resting in the sunshine, the gentle and never ending tick-tocking of the clock, the fine dust motes floating in the air around them illuminated only briefly before fading away again. It was utterly devoid of life, save for the three of them. Ilia hadnât even returned yet.
âNowâs fine,â He practically cried as he moved away from behind the desk. âNowâs a great time. Examination room three is open, Iâll take you in thereâŚâ The double entendre fell from his lips Iâll take you in examination room three, come on, Link be subtle at least! âI didnât mean like⌠Iâll just show you the wayâ
Link wasnât sure but he thought he saw a blush rise across Zeldaâs cheeks, the already pink skin turning rosy as he moved past her towards the chairs to collect his coat. Heâd rather not wear it in such warm weather, but it was always best to appear professional. Biting back a grimace he tugged it over his shoulders before ushering Zelda towards the small examination room.
Pushing open the door Link revealed the modest space. A long metal table took up most of the room, behind it sat a series of cabinets, the tops littered with jars filled with cotton and boxes of latex gloves. A small sink sat at the furthest end from the door, a small trash can placed beneath it. An old computer sat in the corner, itâs screen lighting up as Link pushed at keys to wake it up. With one hand he directed Zelda to sit in the only chair in the room whilst he pulled up a small plastic stool.
âRight, so, just a couple of routine questions,â He started, pulling up Naruâs medical charts.
âLay them on me,â Zelda smirked, making herself comfortable in her seat. Naru curled around her legs, the strange and unfamiliar environment making her feel anxious.
âHave there been any changes to her eating or drinking habits?â
âNo.â
âGood, any weight gain or-â
A sharp howl cut through the air, halting Link in his tracks. He saw Zelda flash him an apologetic look as she reached down to try and calm the animal. âIâm sorry, I know itâs impolite but I gotta ask,â Link continued, earning a smile from Zelda that made his chest feel tight. Ignoring the feeling he asked again, âAny weight gain or loss?â
âNo,â she giggled, her hand scratching behind Naruâs ears.
âShe up to date on her vaccines?â
âYes, she got her boosters just last month.â
âAny coughing or Diarrhea?â
âNo, thank goodness.â
âBalance issues?â
âSteady as a rock.â
âExcellent, letâs get her up on the table.â
Naru was not a fan of being lifted it seemed as Link wrapped his arms under her. She squirmed in his grasp, letting out another howl as she did so. Zelda stood to the side, muttering apologies and assurances that normally sheâs much more well behaved, offering a hand to help calm or distract the wriggling canine. Eventually the two got her on the table, Naru letting out an indignant whine as her claws made contact with the cool steel surface.
Link began with checking her vitals, starting with her pulse and respiration rate before moving onto her temperature (and apologising profusely while he did so) all the while rolling back and forth on his stool between the computer and Naru.
âVital signs are good,â he murmured half to himself as he stared at the screen. He could hear Zelda behind him blow kisses to her furry friend, the mental image causing him to smile. How was it that she was able to make him feel so happy with the simplest of actions?
Rolling back to the husky, Link started to conduct his physical examination. Naru seemed calmer than she had before, probably soothed by Zeldaâs kisses and pats. He watched as she tilted her chin skyward, bright blue eyes sliding shut in pleasure as Zelda scratched at her neck, her tail creating a steady drumbeat against the table.
âI take it she ainât a huge fan of vets,â he joked, reaching his own hands forward to press against Naruâs abdomen.
âJust the examination rooms,â Zelda confirmed as she pulled her hands back to her lap. âThis is the fastest Iâve gotten her to calm down though, there must be something in the room thatâs putting her at ease.â
âCould be the wallpaper?â Link snorted jerking his head towards the garish blue and green diagonal stripes that decorated the room. Zelda rolled her eyes at him but she laughed, rewarding him with another heart stopping smile.
Swallowing he turned back to the task at hand. Pulling a stethoscope from the wall behind him, he began listening to Naruâs heart and breathing. She gave a quick twitch at the feel of cold metal against her ribs, blue eyes snapping open to glare at him silently. shrugging his shoulders in a half hearted apology, Link couldnât help the laugh that bubbled up at his throat.
Across from him, Zelda sat back in her chair. Sheâd taken the messy bun out of her hair, running through the strands with her fingers to tidy them. Naruâs check up was forgotten as he watched her, nimble fingers pulling the hair into a perfect plait, a serene expression on her face.
He knew heâd missed her, the entirety of Ordon knew that heâd missed her! Heâd thought about nothing but her for the past four months, just praying heâd get the chance to see her one last time. Having her here, now, in front of him, he hadnât realized how desperate heâd been for that prayer to be answered.
âItâs nice to see you again,â he said, so quiet he wasnât even sure that heâd said the words out loud. Zeldaâs eyes turned towards him, the beginnings of a blush painting her cheeks and ears a light pink.
âWellâŚâ she swallowed, hands dropping to her lap. He watched as she clutched at the fabric of her skirt, her knuckles going a bright white. She tilted her head towards Naru on the table. âShe missed youâ
âI wasnât talking to the dog.â
Zelda's eyes grew wide, cheeks turning scarlet and lips parting in a quiet, surprised gasp as she lifted her eyes to his. All air seemed to rush from her lungs and for a moment Link was scared that she was going to faint or curse him out. But instead she seemed to gather herself, eyelashes fluttering as she searched for something to focus on that wasnât him. Her tongue darted out to wet her lips and Link felt his chest grow hot.
âItâs nice to see you again too,â Sheâd gone bright red, her nerves masterfully hidden as she gazed up at him through her lashes. The room seemed to grow warmer but he couldnât bring himself to care, her words were echoing around his head like the chimes of a cymbal. Maybe⌠just maybe, sheâd missed him as much as had missed her?
Naruâs sharp, annoyed, howl wrang through the air, shattering the moment and drawing his attention back to her and the stethoscope  still pressed against her ribs. Fighting back the rising flush of embarrassment he felt at being called out by a husky, Link quickly returned to his work as he examined her eyes, teeth, and ears. Once he was satisfied that she was alright, Link pulled his stool over the computer.
âNaru looks fine,â he murmured, hands moving across the keys. âSheâs recovered well from that cold she had a couple months back, so thatâs good. As for dealing with the heat Iâd recommend just brushing her a whole lot to get rid of any excess fur, but donât trim her. Also, if youâve got a pond in your garden she might like to swim in that to keep cool? A kiddie pool would also work. I actually knew a guy whoâd freeze fruit for his dog so she could play with it. Just took an old ice cream tub and filled with water with an apple in itâ
âThank you,Link - Â uh Doctor Wolfe.â He watched, out of the corner of his eye, as she showered Naru with affection. Pressing loving kisses against her forehead and gentle scratches under her chin and ears.
âJust doing my job,â he sighed, as he shut the computer down. She turned to him, something shining in her royal blue eyes that made him weak at the knees. It really was good to see her again. âIâll walk you back to the desk.â
<><><>
The lowering sun cast a deep orange light over the waiting room. Tall shadows of the trees outside curled over the room through the windows like the cracks in a vase. The clock continued itâs resolute march and somewhere nearby an electric fan whirred, pulling and pushing the heavy air around the space.
âHow long have you been back in Ordon?â Link asked, holding the door open for Zelda and Naru to walk past. Her perfume tickled his nose as she got close, lingering in the back of his throat. The scent of fresh roses following in the air after her.
âNot long, I just got back really,â she said, pulling her braid over her shoulder. âIâve not even been up to the estate yet, I just... came straight here.â
âWorried about Naru?â
âNo...IâŚâ She trailed off, a hand coming up to tug on her braid, a nervous smile curling over her lips. âI just wanted to come here firstâ
It was impossible to hold back the goofy, idiotic, grin that plastered itself across his face. Even the most miserable of people would have failed when faced with the knowledge that Zelda Harkinian had wanted to get to the surgery before anything else. Heâd managed to compose himself earlier when she had said that it was nice to see him again, but she was quickly breaking down his defences. Heâd be a dribbling pile of nerves by the time she left and all she had to do was smile at him!
Turning towards the desk, in an attempt to at least hide his grin, Link began drawing up her bill. The fan that Ilia had placed on the desk only worked to increase his discomfort, blowing hot air directly into his face as he tried to work. The secretary herself, however, was nowhere to be seen. A small yellow note stuck to the computer monitor was the only clue to her whereabouts.
Uliâs stuck at the bakery, Ruslâs at the ranch. I had to take Colin to cricket club, desk is all yours. -Ilia x P.s. donât root around my stuff!
Suppressing the urge to rub his eyes, he fished a pen out of the pot she kept there to write his reply.
Clean your candy. Ants love it, I donât. -L P.s. the fan is useless
âThatâs forty five ruppees for the consultation. No other charge because sheâs a perfectly healthy dog.â He held the card reader out towards Zelda, looking away as she typed in her pin. He could hear the sound of Naruâs tail thumping against the floor in time with the clock on the wall in the otherwise silent room.
âHow long are you in Ordon for?â he asked, pulling back the reader as it began to print the receipt. Heâd been aiming to break the silence before it got too daunting, to make casual conversation like two friends do. And yet his mind had leapt to the first question heâd wanted to ask. He felt the tops of his ears grow warm as he handed her card back to her. No turning back now.
âIâm here for a month,â she explained, seemingly not noticing his sudden nerves. She tucked her card back into her purse. âIâm taking a break from work for a little bit.â
âCool, cool.â Now what? Heâd hit a dead end. Cool wasnât a way to continue a conversation, nor a way to end one properly. He couldnât just stop talking, but then what should he say? Youâre gonna love the weather? No, he doubted anyone could love this weather. She might take it as sarcastic, but what if she didnât? Then heâd have to explain himself and that would be awkward. Not to mention that it was a pessimistic statement to make for no reason! Talking about the weather was off the table. Any plans? might be a good choice. Unless she thought he was asking her out⌠would that be such a bad thing? He could ask her out right now! Itâd be easy, just say Well if youâre here for a month do you wanna hang out sometime? There was nothing stopping him! Thatâs it! Link decided Iâm going to ask her out.
âWe might see each other around.â
You coward.
âWe might,.â She agreed, pulling her hand bag up higher to her shoulder. He couldnât tell, and he didnât want to assume anything but⌠she seemed disappointed. âIt was nice seeing you again.â
âYou too,â idiot! idiot! idiot! âTake care.â By Farore, he was stupid! Saying goodbye to her now? Well she probably had somewhere to be, shopping to do or something. Thereâd been no one at the estate so sheâd need to air it out and clean the sheets maybe. He couldnât keep her here any longer than he already had. He was a veterinarian, heâd done his job, she had no reason to stick around. Â
âI will,â She smiled, taking a step backwards towards the door. She was almost hesitant.
Realistically, when am I gonna run into her again? I donât even have her number.
âUh, wait...â
She stopped. Bright, royal blue, eyes staring at him. The whole situation was vaguely familiar, only this time they were standing in a sweltering waiting room instead of her driveway under freezing cold rain. Back then, all heâd wanted was for her to stay. That wasnât an issue now, she was staying albeit only for a few weeks. But a few weeks would have to be enough time. Â
âYes?â
Screw half-cooked Ramen. It was now or never.
âWould you⌠I mean itâs⌠thereâs a⌠do you wanna get coffee sometime?â He choked. Heâd envisioned this moment before, except he hadnât been stumbling over his words and heâd swept her off of her feet in a display so romantic that cheesy romcom movies would look tame in comparison. But heâd done it now, for better or worse. He couldnât even look at her, his eyes staring at the pen heâd left lying out on the desk. She was probably going to say no, maybe sheâd let him down gently if he was lucky.
âIâd love to.â
Wait, what? His heart skipped a beat in his chest. Had she just⌠sheâd said⌠she wanted tooâŚ
âGreat. Great!  Iâll⌠uhh give you my number,â He began patting down his pockets in a frenzy, searching desperately for his phone. His mind and heart still reeling from the revelation that Zelda-Goddess-Damned-Harkinian had just said yes to going on a date with him. Only one problem remained⌠his phone was charging in the break room. Resisting the urge to slam his head against the desk he continued.  âI donât...I donât have my phone with me.  Uhh I could run back and-â
Zelda reached forward faster than he could comprehend, a hand expertly wrapping around his forearm, keeping him still as she pushed up his shirt sleeve. He watched breathless as she grabbed the pen from the desk and began writing on his skin in short, elegant, cursive.
0145 712598 - Miss Harkinian x
âYouâve got my number,â She breathed, a coquettish grin pulling at her lips. Link felt faint at the sight of her smile and the feel of her hand on his arm, her thumb tracing small circles over his skin.
âI do,â He said dumbly, his heart kicking back into gear at the realization. âI have your number so Iâll call you and then we can arrange something.â
âSounds like a plan.â Her smile is gonna be the death of me, he thought as she pulled away. But damn, what a way to go. Zeldaâs hand dropped from his arm, her attention drawn towards Naru as she gave a low howl.
âI gotta get her home,â Zelda giggled, leaning down to pat her husky on the nose. âIâll hear from you later?â
âAbsolutely,â He gasped, nodding his head so fast he was sure he was going to do himself an injury. âYouâll hear from me later, 100%.â
âGoodbye, Link,â she sighed, her lip caught between her teeth in a way that made his heart race.
âBye, Zelda.
And just like that she was gone, walking out of the door, her husky in tow. He watched her till he couldnât see her anymore, till she was nothing but a spec on the horizon, till the setting sun began to shine in his eyes and the clock struck the hour. Pushing away from the desk, he ran to the break room with all the power he could muster.
His phone was right where heâd left it, plugged in next to the toaster of all things. He practically ripped it from the wall in his haste. Adrenaline was rushing through his veins as he punched her number in, causing his whole body to shake with anticipation. Pressing the phone against his ear he waited, counting the rings until she picked up.
Ring ring
Ring ring
Ring ring
It was torture. Two seconds felt like five hours. He couldnât stop moving, constantly tapping his feet against the floor. He thought he was going to explode until he heard her voice, sweet and melodious, echo down the phone line.
âHello, Zelda Harkinian speaking. How can I help you?â
âHi, yeah, Iâm Doctor Link Wolfe with the Ordon veterinary surgery. I was wondering if you were free this friday?â

HOW TO GET HIRED BY YOUR DREAM COMPANY
You can crack your dream company which will give you a very big package doesnât matter whether you are an engineer or not, you are from CS stream or not.
So, What should be the correct path/ How should you proceed? This blog is going to be important for you if youâre a college student, whether youâre in the first, second, third, fourth year. But before proceeding further, I would like to clear all the misconceptions that the people generally have in their mind Only the students of a good college i.e., IITs, NITs, IIITs, other government colleges can get good placements. Only Computer Science students can be in their dream companies. You should be an engineer and very intelligent. You should have an expensive laptop to learn the courses like coding, other courses.
Three or four years from now, it was easy for the students to study as well as enjoy their college life. But nowadays since everything has become digital and students are aware of the things and syllabus that is asked by the companies so, they prepare from the very first year of their college, and hence, the competition has become very tough. So, Iâll say enjoy your life but do study also for at least two hours.
HOW WILL YOU BE SELECTED FOR YOUR DREAM COMPANY?
Generally, there are four rounds based on which youâll be selected :-
1) First of all, the company will shortlist the names of the students based on the CGPA that youâll be having. So, you should maintain a good CGPA, now youâll be thinking that some of your seniors had not very good CGPA but still they got selected then why canât you? Yes, you can also be selected but you should be ready for all the situations. Suppose, 500 students from your college are sitting for the test and the company needs only 100 students to sit for the placement round. Then they will definitely take the students with a good CGPA and big companies generally take students with good CGPA.
2) There is a Coding round which is of three rounds itself:â Language, Data Structures, Algorithms Language. You should have a good knowledge of C++, JAVA, PYTHON.
C++ is used in the operating system of APPLE, MICROSOFT, game development, etc.
JAVA is used in android development, web application.
PYTHON is used in artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), etc.
Now, some of you would be thinking that should I know all these three languages perfectly, canât I choose one? So, let me do it clear for you. When it comes to placement, a data analyst company gives you only 5â12 lakhs. I have used the word only because this blog is on our dream companies. You can make assignments on AI, ML using Python in your college. But if we talk specifically about placement, most of the companies wonât allow you to write your code in Python because Python has a library in it and so, we can write a very long code in twoâthree lines only and is easy for everyone. So, you should have the knowledge of PYTHON but itâs not going to help you in the long run. Competition is all about JAVA and C++, but if you want a specific language then you can go with C++.
WHY SHOULD YOU GO WITH C++ AND NOT WITH JAVA?
Because in Technical Interview round, questions related to C language may be asked likeâ pointers topic, C related codes may be asked, which is in C++ not in JAVA. Also, if you want to go on a higher level in competitive coding then C++ is good. You can learn JAVA in 2 to 3 weeks only if you have a grip on C++. Iâm not praising any particular language, itâs only my point of view.
Data Structures and Algorithms: You must practice at least one or two questions related to this topic and you should know the algorithms also Start from the first-year consistently, it is not that you should wait for your third or fourth year, if youâll start from your first year, youâll have your own job before the third year of college. But whenever you come to know all these, doesnât matter in which year you are because âItâs never too lateâ.
3) Technical Interview Round: It can be of 2â4 rounds depending upon the number of students in your college. In this round, questions related to Data Structure and Algorithms may be asked orally, questions related to your main subjects may be asked. You can tell about the projects on which youâve worked during your college. Also, you should have knowledge about all that is written in your CV/resume. Donât add any extra thing which you donât know in your resume, because youâll be asked questions from your resume.
Now, the company has seen your technical skills, youâll be called for the HR Round.
4) HR Round: You may be asked about your studies, why you want to work in their company, about your success and failures, your hobbies.
So, thatâs all it is. Iâm telling you only to at least two hours to your studies in college, canât you?
Your energy should be high enough to achieve your target. Now youâre in college, This time will never come back. I know many of you would be thinking to follow this but only some of youâll really follow! Donât think Iâll do it later because âPROCRASTINATION IS THE THIEF OF TIMEâ.
Thanks For Reading
