About
Casual doll collector. I barely know what I'm doing.
I want to collect at least 1 of each fashion doll brand. Especially early 2000's ones. There's plenty so I don't count knockoffs (unless they're really interesting....)
If you ever look for info like
-do X doll clothes fit Y doll
-measurements
-doll id (try google lens first tho!)
-size comparisons
then feel free to poke me after checking the list below (cause you'll know what dolls I got)
If there are any dolls you find interesting and aren't on the list, share, I wanna see :3

Joachim Hagopian
As we approach the 23rd anniversary of the 9/11 disaster, a look back at the unprosecuted conspirators is a most worthwhile endeavour. In the name of national security and citizen safety, ever since 9/11, the US authoritarian government has been busily stripping away our stolen civil liberties, flagrantly violating our constitutional rule of law, deceptively deploying the dialectic M.O. “problem-reaction-solution,” repeatedly to erode and destroy our American way of life. While jointly partnering with Israel in America’s deadliest act of terrorism committed on US soil on 9/11, the Patriot Act was prewritten before 9/11, authored by the neocons’ Project for a New American Century that came the year before, calling for “a new Pearl Harbor” as excuse to launch their manufactured “War on Terror,” and their notorious regime change memo to “take down 7 nations in 5 years.”
On top of all this known treason, both the US and Israel were the primary creators and supporters of their proxy ally terrorists operating for decades throughout the Middle East, North Africa and beyond. Prior to ISIS, the US and Israel teamed up with oil-rich Gulf State monarchies to finance, create and train al Qaeda terrorists. The Bush crime family befriended ally – the Saudi bin Laden family, helped pull off their US-Israel 9/11 inside job. After all, on that very morning, Daddy Bush was casually dining with his bin Laden chums in a plush Washington hotel, and hours later when every flight in America was grounded, the bin Ladens were the only passengers freely flying over friendly US skies homeward bound to Saudi Arabia, where nearly all the so-called 9/11 box-cutting terrorists came from, allegedly led by Osama.
9/11 wasn’t the first time America’s “closest” Middle East ally betrayed America. After all, President John F. Kennedy was assassinated for pressuring Israel to suspend its nuclear weapons development. And then how can we forget Israel murdering 34 US Navy seamen (174 injured) aboard the USS Liberty just four years after the Zionist Jews helped murder our last populist president. Then there’s that infamous Jerusalem Finks Bar conversation recorded in 1990 when the current Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu uttered these authenticated words:
If we get caught they will just replace us with persons of the same cloth. So it doesn’t matter what you do, America is a Golden Calf and we will suck it dry, chop it up, and sell it off piece by piece until there is nothing left but the World’s biggest welfare state that we will create and control. Why? Because it’s god’s will and America is big enough to take the hit so we can do it again, again and again. This is what we do to countries that we hate. We destroy them very slowly and make them suffer for refusing to be our slaves.

Independence Day:
- From France 4 April 1960
- Withdrawal from the Mali Federation  20 August 1960
Flag meaning: The red, yellow and green are the official Pan-African colors, and the centered star is symbolic of hope and unity.
Brief History
Archaeological findings throughout the area indicate that Senegal was inhabited in prehistoric times and has been continuously occupied by various ethnic groups.
Some kingdoms were created around the 7th century: Takrur in the 9th century, Namandiru and the Jolof Empire during the 13th and 14th centuries. Eastern Senegal was once part of the Ghana Empire.
Islam was introduced through Toucouleur and Soninke contact with the Almoravid dynasty of the Maghreb, who in turn propagated it with the help of the Almoravids, and Toucouleur allies.
This movement faced resistance from ethnicities of traditional religions, the Serers in particular.
In the 13th and 14th centuries, the area came under the influence of the empires to the east; the Jolof Empire of Senegal was also founded during this time.
In the 14th century the Jolof Empire grew more powerful, having united Cayorand the kingdoms of Baol, Sine, Saloum, Waalo, Futa Tooro and Bambouk, ormuch of present day West Africa.
The empire was a voluntary confederacy of various states rather than an empire built on military conquest.
The empire was founded by Ndiadiane Ndiaye, a part Serer and part Toucouleur, who was able to form a coalition with many ethnicities, but collapsed around 1549 with the defeat and killing of Lele Fouli Fak by Amari Ngone Sobel Fall.
Colonial Era
In the mid-15th century, the Portuguese landed on the Senegal coastline, followed by traders representing other countries, including the French.
Various European powers-Portugal, the Netherlands, and Great Britain-competed for trade in the area from the 15th century onward.
In 1677, France gained control of what had become a minor departure point in the Atlantic slave trade-the island of Gorée next to modern Dakar, used as abase to purchase slaves from the warring chiefdoms on the mainland.
European missionaries introduced Christianity to Senegal and the Casamance in the 19th century.
It was only in the 1850s that the French began to expand onto the Senegalese mainland after they abolished slavery and began promoting an abolitionist doctrine, adding native kingdoms like the Waalo, Cayor, Baol, and Jolof Empire.
French colonists progressively invaded and took over all the kingdoms except Sine and Saloum under Governor Louis Faidherbe.
Senegalese resistance to the French expansion and curtailing of their lucrative slave trade was led in part by Lat-Dior, Damel of Cayor, and Maad a Sinig Kumba Ndoffene Famak Joof, the Maad a Sinig of Sine, resulting in the Battle of Logandème.
Independence (1960)
On April 4, 1959 Senegal and the French Sudan merged to form the Mali Federation, which became fully independent on 20 June 1960, as a result of a transfer of power agreement signed with France on 4 April 1960.
Due to internal political difficulties, the Federation broke up on 20 August, when Senegal and French Sudan each proclaimed independence.
Léopold Sédar Senghor was Senegal's first president in September 1960.
Senghor was a very well-read man, educated in France.
In 1980, President Senghor decided to retire from politics.
Former prime minister Mamadou Dia, who was Senghor's rival, ran for election in 1983 against Diouf, but lost.
Senghor moved to France, where he died at the age of 96.
Senegal joined with the Gambia to form the nominal Senegambia Confederation on 1 February 1982.
Despite peace talks, a southern separatist group in the Casamance region has clashed sporadically with government forces since 1982 in the Casamance conflict.
In the early 21st century, violence has subsided and President Macky Sall heldtalks with rebels in Rome in December 2012.
He encouraged broader political participation, reduced government involve mentin the economy, and widened Senegal's diplomatic engagements, particularly with other developing nations.
Domestic politics on occasion spilled over into street violence, border tensions, and a violent separatist movement in the southern region of the Casamance. Nevertheless, Senegal's commitment to democracy and human rights strengthened.
In the presidential election of 1999, opposition leader Abdoulaye Wade defeated Diouf in an election deemed free and fair by international observers. Senegal experienced its second peaceful transition of power, and its first from one political party to another.
On 30 December 2004 President Wade announced that he would sign a peace treaty with the separatist group in the Casamance region. This, however, has yet to be implemented. There was a round of talks in 2005, but the results have not yet yielded a resolution.
Geography
Tumblr media
Senegal is located on the west of the African continent.
It lies between latitudes 12° and 17°N, and longitudes 11° and 18°W. Senegal is externally bounded by the Atlantic Ocean to the west, Mauritania to the north, Mali to the east, and Guinea and Guinea-Bissau to the south; internally it almost completely surrounds The Gambia, namely on the north, east and south, except for Gambia's short Atlantic coastline.
The capital Dakar lies on the Cap-Vert peninsula, the westernmost point of continental Africa.
Culture
Tumblr media
*Wolof village*
Senegal has a wide variety of ethnic groups and, as in most West African countries, several languages are widely spoken.
The Wolof are the largest single ethnic group in Senegal at 43 percent; the Fulaand Toucouleur are the second biggest group, followed by the Serer, the nothers such as Jola, Mandinka, Maures or, Soninke, Bassari and many smaller communities.
About 50,000 Europeans and Lebanese as well as smaller numbers of Mauritanians and Moroccans reside in Senegal, mainly in the cities and some retirees who reside in the resort towns around Mbour.
Also located primarily in urban settings are small Vietnamese communities as well as a growing number of Chinese immigrant traders, each numbering perhaps a few hundred people.
There are also tens of thousands of Mauritanian refugees in Senegal, primarily in the country's north.
According to the World Refugee Survey 2008, published by the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants, Senegal has a population of refugees and asylum seekers numbering approximately 23,800 in 2007.
Refugees live in N'dioum, Dodel, and small settlements along the Senegal River valley.

Cuisine
The basic food is rice cooked with a spicy sauce and vegetables. The national dish is chep-bu-jen,the Wolof word for rice with fish. Cooked in a tomato sauce with boiled fish and a few vegetables (carrots, cabbage, and green peppers),chep-bu-jen is originally from the city of Saint-Louis.Yassa,a dish from Casamance is chicken or fish marinated in lemon juice, pepper, and onions and then baked. It is accompanied by plain white rice. Other sauces include mafé, domada and soupe kandja,(which is made from okra with fish and palm oil).

Landmarks
Tumblr media
The Lake Retba (Lac Rose meaning Pink lake) -  It is named for its pink waters caused by Dunaliella salina algae and is known for its high salt content, up to 40% in some areas.
Tumblr media
The House of Slaves and its Door of No Return is a museum and memorial to the Atlantic slave trade on Gorée Island, 3 km off the coast of the city of Dakar, Senegal. Its museum, which was opened in 1962 and curated until Boubacar Joseph Ndiaye's death in 2009, is said to memorialize the final exit point of the slaves from Africa.
While historians differ on how many African slaves were actually held in this building, as well as the relative importance of Gorée Island as a point on the Atlantic Slave Trade, visitors from Africa, Europe, and the Americas continue to make it an important place to remember the human toll of African slavery.
Tumblr media
The Langue de Barbarie is a thin, sandy peninsula, adjacent to the Atlantic Ocean, located in western Senegal, in the neighborhood of the city of Saint-Louis. The peninsula separates the ocean from the final section of the Senegal River.
Tumblr media
The Great Mosque of Touba is a mosque in Touba, Senegal. It was founded by Amadou Bamba in 1887 and completed in 1963. Bamba died in 1927 and is interred inside the mosque. Since his death the mosque is being controlled by his family.
Some interesting facts about Senegal
1. In the 16th century when the Portuguese visited the country’s coast, the fishermen said “sunu gaal”, which translates into “these are our boats”. The Portuguese, who understood nothing, simply named their land “Senegal”. Classic colonizers!!
2. Senegal’s location towards the west coast made it a hub for the international slave trade of the 18th and 19th century. Gorée Island, in particular, became a major transit point of the Atlantic Slave Trade.
3. In contemporary times, Senegal is very close to France. In fact, the very flag of Senegal has adopted the French Tricolor style. So the flags of both look the same, except for the color
4. Senegal is the only country in West Africa which wasn’t overrun by a military coup. Its democratic stability has earned it many allies in Europe and the Americas.
5.  The common lingo of Senegal has a word called, “Teranga”. It has a very sweet and hospitable meaning and has become the identity of Senegalese people. It means helping a person to come to your land and settle down.
6.  Dakar is home to the tallest statue in Africa. The African Renaissance Monument built in 2010, stands at an impressive 49 m, but still a meter short of a half-century.
7.  Senegal is a paradise for footballers. Many prominent players like El Hadji Diouf, Henri Camara, Ferdinand Coly, Bouna Coundoul, etc. have been inducted into the European League from this country.
8.  Senegal’s grasslands have given the country its two national symbols, the baobab tree, and the red lion.
Questions
1. Are you from Senegal or know someone from there?
2. Are you interested in learning Wolof?
3. What’s your favorite thing about Senegal?
4. Do you know anything about Senegal I forgot to mention?
5. Which country/Island do you think I should share about next?
PLEASE INFORM ME IF THERE IS ANY MISTAKE SO I CAN CORRECT IT. THANK YOU :)
*I know I said ISY project is about unknown/less talked about countries but I thought I should share about Senegal since I love it’s people and wanted to know more about their culture.

alright buckle up...
@something-tofightfor and @suchatinyinfinity shared their list of WIPs and in an attempt to keep myself motivated, I’m going to go ahead and post my embarrassingly long list of things that I am currently working on:
Logan Core Drive: 1.05 and Clean- Complete (these two will wrap up the first section of that story. 1.05 is about half-way done, and Complete is about a third of the way done. Looking forward to closing this difficult chapter in that story.)  SYiNY: Part Four, which I need to finish and post AT LEAST this part before Thanksgiving... because I’m also working on a Thanksgiving piece for this pair.  Nice and Spice(d): One of the Title Game results, this one is also tied to the SYiNY story line and I am planning to have it ready to post in mid- December.
Billy I See You: From Here-2 and ISY 11. I get weird about this story after I post each new chapter of this story and I need to get over it and just write it already. Billy and Ike deserve it.  **A NEW THING** that I shouldn’t be writing at all just yet but am about 5k words in and can’t seem to steer myself away from... (would anyone care if I started posting a new Billy thing before I finished ISY? because...) I’m not going to post this until it’s done, so it might be a while but then again if I keep up this pace of ignoring my responsibilities to my other projects, it might not.
Ryan Passing Through: Part 6 - Ryan gets a little peppery in this one and no it’s still not a smut.  **A NEW THING** that isn’t technically a new thing it’s still the same Ryan from PT but it’s not technically necessary but it’s likely happening anyway. Purely self-indulgent.
Benjamin TGTBT: Part 5. I think this one is probably only about 3 or 4 more parts but don’t worry because there’s... Not If It’s You: A Follow Up to TGTBT and that’s all I can say about that.  The Jilted Tourist: One of the Title Game results, it’s a three part mini-series that takes place almost two years before TGTBT Benj meets reader. So yeah, he’s still married to Julia. ugh.
Caspian ItAotO: part 5. I am not looking forward to this one. Not even a little bit.  The Last Dream: One of the Title Game results. Stand alone (i think?). Looking like its going to be a three part mini series for this one, too.
John LFtM&D: Part 2 & 3 - these need to be written simultaneously. you’ll see. if i ever post them. I lost John’s voice you guys, I need to rewatch Easy Virtue.
I think that’s everything that I am actively working on at the moment. that’s more than enough, right? (don’t answer that) anywho- despite this incredibly long list of half finished over-ambitious WIPs, if you have any questions or requests or things you’d like me to write about, you can always send them my way! it might take me a year and a day to write them, but then again... it might not.
SO! if anyone else wants to share their wip files, go on ahead and tag me so we can commiserate!

Mini Project
So, here they are...

My new podcast, "Disasters Don't Have to End in Dystopia" (permalink)
I just posted a new podcast! "Disasters Don't Have to End in Dystopia" is an essay I wrote for Wired about the ways that the stories we tell ourselves make the difference between rising to meet a crisis and devolving into catastrophe.
The podcast is here:
https://craphound.com/podcast/2020/03/01/disasters-dont-have-to-end-in-dystopias/
The Wired essay is here:
https://www.wired.com/2017/04/cory-doctorow-walkaway/
Though I wrote it in 2017, it really applies today. Our beliefs about whether we can trust our neighbors to have our back in times of crisis informs whether we behave in a way that shows THEY can trust US in times of crisis.
And since every crisis is (eventually) overcome by people pitching in to get things fixed, the belief that our fellow humans are untrustworthy means that crises are more likely to turn into disasters – and the stories we write can instil or dispel that belief.
I know that there's some controversy about Mr Rogers' famous "Look for the helpers" speech – that it's advice for children, not adults.
https://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2018/10/look-for-the-helpers-mr-rogers-is-bad-for-adults/574210/
But the adult version is "BE the helper." That is, prepared to run towards the emergency, not to cower in a luxury bunker while better people than you get the machine started again.

The next frontier for school censorware is spying on kids all the time (permalink)
We spend a lot of time bemoaning the lack of privacy-consciousness among kids, and then we spy on them at school with censorware and punish them for taking any action that might protect their privacy from us.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RAGjNe1YhMA
Meanwhile, censorware companies – whose primary customers have always been oppressive regimes seeking to control political oppositions – have morphed into full-on student surveillance companies, and their sales pitch is a terrifying slurry of war-on-terror/active shooter FUD.
When companies like Gaggle and Securely pitch school-boards on their products, they claim that they can detect incipient in-school ISIS attacks and the like, and use that as justification to spy on kids in-school and out-of-school online activities. These companies are mini-NSAs-for-hire, tracking social media usage and every keystroke and click on school networks and devices, storing it (insecurely) for years, if not decades.
https://www.thegazette.com/subject/opinion/staff-columnist/iowa-city-schools-student-social-media-monitoring-surveillance-gaggle-securly-20200302
They make bizarre claims ("the average 7th grader has 6 Instagram accounts" – which would make 7th graders 25% of the entire IG user-base). And they find terrified parents to endorse spying ("If it's going to protect my child, I don't care how you get the info, just get it"). People who sell security need to sell fear. If we want our kids to care about their privacy, we can't make them "safe" by spying on them all the time and banning any steps they take to make us stop.

I'm coming to Kelowna on March 5 (permalink)
I'm coming to the BC interior for the first time ever, talking about my book Radicalized at the Kelowna library as part of Canada Reads. I'm being hosted by the CBC's Sarah Penton from 6-8PM! It's free to attend but it's ticketed, and the majority of tickets are already gone — if you want to come, now's the time to RSVP.
https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/cbc-radio-presents-in-conversation-with-cory-doctorow-tickets-96154415445
(and if you can't make it, it's OK! The CBC will broadcast the audio and I'll put it my podcast, too)

Cool Mules, an investigative series on a Vice editor's cocaine-smuggling ring (permalink)
Back in 2015, Slava Pastuk was an editor at Vice, and he abused his position there to pressure young, desperate would-be journalists into smuggling suitcases full of millions of dollars' worth of cocaine into Australia.
https://nationalpost.com/news/former-vice-editor-gets-nine-year-sentence-for-recruiting-young-drug-mules-for-massive-cocaine-smuggling-ring
Five of them went to prison, but Slava Pastuk did not (at first). When Pastuk's role in the affair became public and he was indicted and tried, he refused to talk to the press at all, making the whole thing something of a non-story cipher (despite its spectacular details).
Incredibly, though, Canadaland got Slava to talk. At length. And they got the other side of the story, too, both from Slava's victims and those who risked career suicide by turning him down. The result is a new, six-part investigative series called Cool Mules, hosted by Kasia Mychajlowycz, whose work I discovered through the spectacular On The Media.
https://www.canadalandshow.com/shows/cool-mules/
It's modeled on Canadaland's last, spectacular miniseries, Thunder Bay, easily the best investigative series I ever listened to.
https://www.canadalandshow.com/shows/thunder-bay/
This morning's Canadaland features an in-depth, behind-the-scenes look at the making of the series between Mychajlowycz and Jesse Brown, and it has me licking my chops for the series itself.

Soviet Space Graphics (permalink)
When my grandmother was 12, she was inducted into the Leningrad civil defense corps during the 900 day siege of Leningrad (I wrote a science fiction novella about this called "After the Siege").
http://www.infinitematrix.net/stories/shorts/after-the-siege.html
The story is also available as a five-part audiobook reading by Mary Robinette Kowal:
http://scalzi.com/atseige/afterthesiege1.mp3 http://scalzi.com/atseige/afterthesiege2.mp3 http://scalzi.com/atseige/afterthesiege3.mp3 http://scalzi.com/atseige/afterthesiege4.mp3 http://scalzi.com/atseige/afterthesiege5.mp3
Eventually (years later) my grandmother was evacuated with the women and children across the winter ice and ended up in Siberia, where she met my grandfather, got pregnant, fled to Azerbaijan and birthed my father. They made their way to Canada over six years, through a series of refugee adventures and crises that could each be a novella of its own (the part where she married my grandfather's one-armed partisan fighter brother, for example, and got caught in a pogrom).
My grandmother completely lost contact with her family in Leningrad, for years. More than a decade. My father vividly recounts how he, as a little boy, heard his mother in Toronto answer the phone and say, "Mama, mama" and begin to cry for the family she thought was dead.
Over the years that followed, my grandmother and grandfather traveled to the USSR several times to see her family, and my Leningrad family came often to visit us in Toronto. Whenever they came, the brought Soviet space-program memoribilia.
There was SO MUCH of this stuff (in the early 90s, Russian sf fans used to pay their way to US conventions by shlepping suitcases full of astrosovkitsch to sell at the event), and it was gorgeous and magical. Some of the best art of the Soviet era was produced to celebrate the space program, and my most cherished toys and knickkacks growing up featured Sputnik, Gagarin, and Valentina Tereshkova. Today, much of that stuff is in our home, thanks in part to Ukrainian Ebay sellers who've taken over the astrosovkitsch market from Russian sf fans.
I'm awfully excited, therefore, by the news that Phaidon is bringing out "Soviet Space Graphics: Cosmic Visions from the USSR." It's a lavishly illustrated volume, produced in collaboration with the Moscow Design Museum.

Incidentally, my grandmother's baby brother Bora, who stayed behind in Leningrad, grew up to be curator of the Popov. I last saw Uncle Bora in 2005, shortly before his death, and he gave us a curator's behind-the-scenes tour of the museum. You can see my photos from the visit here:

Apple, Nike and Dell's supply chain includes enslaved Uyghurs (permalink)
Phase II of China's Xinjiang concentration camps for ethno-religious minorities (mostly Uyghurs but also other Muslim minorities) is creating slave-labor factories that serve major US brands.
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-51697800
Nike, Apple and Dell's supply chains are all implicated.
As a reminder, the Xinjiang concentration camps used torture, punitive rape, brainwashing, forced medical experimentation and other tactics to "retrain" a disfavored minority.
"Between 2017 and 2019, the ASPI think tank estimates that more than 80,000 Uighurs were transferred out of the far western Xinjiang autonomous region to work in factories across China. It said some were sent directly from detention camps."
The revelations come from a report from the Australian Strategic Policy Institute:
https://www.aspi.org.au/report/uyghurs-sale
The workers enslaved in these factories spend their off-hours in brainwashing sessions, living "in segregated dormitories, with Mandarin lessons and 'ideological training', subjected to constant surveillance and banned from observing religious practices."

Drugs Without the Hot Air (permalink)
I first read "Drugs Without the Hot Air," David Nutt's astoundingly good book about drug policy back in 2012; in the eight years since, hardly a month has gone by without my thinking about it. Now, there's a new, updated edition, extensively revised, and it's an absolute must-read.
Nutt came to fame when he served as the UK "Drugs Czar" under the Labour Government in the late 2000s; especially when Home Secretary Jacqui Smith fired him for his refusal to lie and say that marijuana was more harmful than alcohol, despite the extensive evidence to the contrary (Smith also threatened Nutt for publishing a paper in Nature that compared the neurological harms of recreational horseback riding to harms from recreational MDMA use, a paper that concluded that if horses came in pill form we might call them "Equasy").
Since then, Nutt — an eminent psychopharmacologist researcher and practioner — has continued to campaign, research, and write about evidence-based drugs policy that takes as its central mission to reduce harm and preserve therapeutic benefits from drugs.
Like the first edition of Drugs Without the Hot Air, the new edition serves three missions:
First, to describe how a wide variety of drugs — benzos, cocaine, opoiods, cannabis, etc, but also alcohol, caffeine and nicotine — work in the body, in clear, nontechnical language that anyone can follow.
Next, to describe the harms and benefits of drugs, considered both on individual and societal levels — and also to describe what the best medical evidence tells us about maximizing those benefits and minimizing those harms.
Finally, to recount how governments — mainly in the UK but also in the USA and elsewhere — have responded to the evidence on drug mechanisms, harms and benefits.
Inevitably, part 3 becomes an indictment, as Nutt describes in eye-watering, frustrating, brutal detail how harmful, incoherent, self-serving and cowardly government responses to drugs have been, and how many lives they have ruined — through criminalizing harmless conduct, through treating medical problems as criminal ones, and through badly thought-through policies that caused relatively benign substances to be replaced with far more harmful ones (for example, Nutt traces the lethal rise in fentanyl partly to the successful global interdiction of opium poppies).
One important difference between the new edition and the original is visible progress on this last. In the years since Nutt was fired for refusing to lie about science, he has founded Drugscience, a research and advocacy nonprofit that has scored significant policy wins and made real therapeutic breakthroughs through hard work and rigour.
I don't think you could ask for a more sensible, clear-eyed, and useful book about drugs, from the ones your doctor prescribes to the ones your bartender serves you to the ones you can go to jail for possessing. Nutt is not just a great and principled campaigner, nor merely a talented and dedicated scientist — he's also a superb communicator.
Drugs Without the Hot Air is part of an outstanding series of technical books — mostly about climate change — that have greatly influenced my thinking. The publisher, UIT Cambridge, has several more that I recommend.

Assistance for Isis much better in Persia web 2 . in Europe when compared to inside Syria
Tumblr media
theguardian.com
Sustain for Islamic Declare (Isis) among Arabic-speaking social media clients with Belgium, Britain, England and also the US is usually greater than in the militant group’s heartlands involving Syria together with Iraq, a global analysis associated with across 2m Arabic-language online posts has got found.
theguardian.com
In what exactly understood to be the primary arduous mass analysis of the with regard to and about the world’s largest jihadist organisation, Italian teachers found which in a very three-and-a-half month interval getting into in Come july 1st, content posted as a result of Arabic-speaking Europeans with Twitter and additionally Squidoo was more beneficial to be able to Isis compared to content posted within those countries over the frontline in the discord.
In Syria, Isis is dramatically melting away the battle meant for hearts and opinions with more as opposed to 92% of tweets, blog in addition to forum reviews hostile to the militants who have rampaged on the east with the region and western Iraq, confiscating large tracts of territory along with declaring the store of a christian declare.
The jihadist militants are notable for operating a good slick propaganda piece of equipment - managing via the internet distribution for you to systematically evade content manages, piggybacking popular internet conversations and galvanising thousands of global enthusiasts into growing your message.
Their projects look like having a consequence. Outside Syria, assistance for Isis, at all times a tossing amongst online communities, rises substantially. Forty-seven per cent from studied tweets together with posts from Qatar, 35% with Pakistan, 31% from Belgium and additionally almost 24% of posts because of UK and 21% from the YOU ended up classified as being supporting for the jihadist setup compared with just under 20% in Jordan, Saudi Arabia (19. 7%) and Iraq (19. 8%).
Dr Luigi Curini from Suggests from the Blogs, an agency set up simply by teachers from Milan Or even which is pioneering completely new forms of large-scale examination of online feedback, known as message exploration, says the research is actually wonderful evidence for ones proposition that to understand Isis up close is planned to be hostile to your potential customers.
Your team, including statistician Teacher Stefano Iacus, political scientist Andrea Ceron, and translators, found there seems to be moreover an intense battle flaming above Islamic State’s religious legitimacy.
Out from the vastly larger quantity of anti-Isis suggestions in the posts undertook studies, 1 out of some (32. 8%) criticises Isis for destroying Islam in addition to when using the faith as a include to get pursuing strength and other “private” pursuits.
One tweet stored by the organization at 23 September go through: “They are tyrants and have marred Islam. Everyday Isis will make Islam dress in your mask of a barbarous intimate monster. ”
Almost a third (29%) of anti-Isis reports expressed scary or simply outrage towards the group’s thrashing methods as well as a further 17% broadcast fears of the group’s hostility to help spiritual and political freedoms, the research found.
In the meantime, nearly all of the scaled-down global community with Isis proponents - making up just finished 20% of the 2m posts - championed the group designed for defending and “unifying” the global city involving believers and also spreading their trust.
Perhaps counter to help you western targets, solely 8. 3% associated with pro-Isis posts had been supportive of the crew for being an opposing forces of the western side.
Curini said it was nice thing about it this Isis had been massively attacked on line over its assert to be Islamic, because it demonstrated just how fragile their particular theological standing upright was among on the internet Muslims. “I’d be a little more worried if perhaps families, when they attack Isis, should they say a product negative about Isis, they talk just terrorism, or even assault … and they weren’t for the religious difficulty. ”
The fairly new science from sentiment study - the automated exploration with opinion - has been dogged from the difficulties of getting pc systems to understand a difficulties of natural speech.
A subtleties involving jokes, sarcasm, slang and general situation can show problematic for algorithms so that you can categorise and help make any nonhuman study of a collection of views prone to huge amounts of error. There is also a possibility of which sentiment is normally influenced by people who shout loudest and many frequently inside of a discussion, but this can be mitigated by way of gathering gigantic volumes of material.
The Italian company say they've got presented a number of innovations to relieve inaccuracies. Rather than routine a computer to understand that complexities of dialect itself, these people “hand train” an criteria to be able to acquaint this with hundreds of great and negative thoughts and the compact groups of words along with mini-phrases they are made from.
The team subsequently get the algorithm to see the likelihood of thoughts and opinions within the total amalgamation associated with articles or blog posts. The group say their fellow reviewed methods have got a 95%-98% precision speed.
Trawling for Isis-related words and phrases such as Syria, the caliphate, plus the name of the group’s leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the power team have the ability to collect 3, 195, 000 open posts on social media marketing, 93% that originated from Twitter and the remainder coming from public Zynga pages, forums together with blogs. Posts of which did not specific any kind of clear opinion ended up being forgotten.
Form 1 July until twenty two October, the study monitored shifts around idea over some of the most extraordinary functions of Syrian conflict this year, such as Isis’s attack to the Yazidi fraction and the swift advance around american Iraq, this publication of video lessons showing the beheadings of hostages, your bombings of Isis roles by the YOU AND ME and a consortium from other Arab lands, and the duress within the Kurdish town with Kobani.
Violence generally seems to mobilise people resistant to the perpetrators, the study uncovered. The beheading involving British aid staff member Jake Haines concerning 13 September as well as the start of US-led bombardment associated with Isis positions in Syria upon 23 Sept were followed by massive anti- then pro-Isis reactions.
Curini talked about the apparent deviation inside opinions failed to necessarily show individuals were changing their opinions, but much more likely showed the mobilisation from revealed supporters or simply opponents following huge events. “The insurance plan increases, therefore you use the and you post far more issues, ” Curini said.
The organization also collected and additionally analysed around 95, 000 Arabic-language current information reports to do a comparison of the social media blogposts against. They noticed the news articles or blog posts to get hostile to Isis eight times from 10 and no record correlation between the a pair of, suggesting genuine and the most useful state-controlled media cant be found handling opinions via the internet. “By analysing web 2 . 0 we can see there isn't always this particular homogenous sentiment against Isis, ” Curini stated.
• Additional revealing by Mona Mahmood News can be according to threat …
… only just when we require it the most. Millions of subscribers around the world are flocking to the Mom or dad looking for honest, authoritative, fact-based credit reporting that can help all of them understand the biggest concern we have faced in this lifetime. However , at the crucial moment, press companies are confronting a cruel fiscal double blow: by using fewer consumers in a position to leave their houses, in addition to fewer thing vendors in operation, we’re seeing a reduction in rag sales over the USA. Advertising revenue is constantly on the tumble steeply in the meantime as businesses have the pinch. We need you help enter into a gap.
We trust each of us is deserving of equal access to necessary public service journalism. So , dissimilar to a good many others, we made some other personal preference: to keep Guard journalism open for, regardless of where they are located or what exactly they're able to afford to pay. The best selection not really be potential without financial advantages from those who is able to afford to pay, exactly who right now support our get the job done out of 180 international locations around the world.
Reader budgetary support has ensured we can maintain looking at, disentangling and interrogating. It offers protected much of our independence, which has do not been so significant. We are which means happier.
We need your sustain thus we can preserve delivering quality journalism that’s open along with independent. And that is exactly at this point for the long term. Every last site reader contribution, still big or modest, is so valuable.

Tarot 101 Notes
Seminar? Mini-Seminars??? Hosted by @dr-devoraak (Thank you so much for sharing this with use BTW, I’m tagging you also so you can see my notes on my initial feelings about each card and hopefully be amused by some of them. I guess you could say that’s my small way of giving back. XD)
This will just be my notes on the Major Arcana 0-10.
To anyone else who might read this these ARE NOT the ACTUAL meaning of the cards that I’m writing - only what my impressions where before reading about their actual meaning
0 - The Fool
He is admiring the day and his surroundings, and I feel like there’s an equal chance that he could accidentally step off the edge of the cliff out of absentmindedness; or, he could take heed of the dog’s warning to pay attention to his surroundings (and therefore not fall off the edge).
I - The Magician
I am confused by this card. He seems triumphant, and there’s an infinity sign above his head. What is it for? Infinite potential maybe? Then there’s the table with all the suits. A tie-in with infinite potential?
II - The High Priestess
I feel like I can understand and sympathize with her. And what I see here...the Cross is Christian, obviously, and robes remind me of a nun’s. The crown reminds me of Egyptian mythology - a callback to Isis? There’s a crescent moon, representing feminine energy, and also divination and dreams maybe? There are pinecones in the tapestry behind her. Life and rebirth then? She’s holding a scroll - knowledge of course, but her face is stern. The responsibility of Knowing does not come lightly. What are the B and J pillars?
III - The Empress
I’m pretty neutral with her. Although she seems relaxed, she looks like she’s ready to jump to her feet at a moment’s notice. Out of concern maybe?
IV - The Emperor
He looks pretty shifty, ngl. He seems grounded, authoritative, and also seems ready to jump to his feet at a moment’s notice. Though, for different reasons than his wife, I feel. To defend his throne maybe, or at least to provide discipline??
V - The Hierophant
I mean, organized religion makes me uneasy in general, so I’m kind of projecting rather than actually reacting to the card itself, I think. But anyway, he’s literally preaching to the choir. Do they believe what he’s saying? Does he believe what he’s preaching?
VI - The Lovers
Well here we have Adam and Eve (or at the very least just a man and a woman but they’re definitely using Christian imagery here), the apple tree with the devil disguised as a snake resting in its branches. God? An angel? And the sun shining down radiantly from above. What is the tree behind the man/Adam supposed to be, and symbolize? Pretty neutral feeling.
VII - The Chariot
I like him. A good heroic-looking dude. Knows what he’s about/what his principles are, and is keeping to the path on the straight and narrow.
VIII - Strength
I like her, she gives me a warm feeling. Also, this card makes me laugh a little because it kind of looks like she’s checking the lion’s mouth and going like “what did you eat??? spit it out now!!!” like all pet owners have to do at some point. So the lion may not like it at first but she’s just trying to look after his well-being.
IX - The Hermit
I like him, a good dude. Would go out of his way to find lost travellers and give them some food and shelter for the night, then guide them back to the right path to where they’re going the next morning.
X - The Wheel of Fortune
Vague dislike. I am feeling vague dislike here. Not really for the card itself I think, more like the design of this card is unsettling.

Gods and Monsters
Chapter two
Pairing: Loki x reader
Summary: The Avengers decide to take a mini-vacation in Egypt when Peter has to do a project on ancient Egyptian mythology. And you end up being their guide. (This isn’t really a summary, it’s more of a backstory but I stg it’s wayyyy more interesting than this.)
Warnings: swearing, mentions of blood
Word count: .9k
A/N: I’m so so so sorry this took so long. It was supposed to be our next weekend but this time of year always kills me. The next chapter is already in the works though! This is a rewrite of Gods and Monsters by @tarynkauai . I am rewriting this a a series and continuing the story(with their permission ofc) the plot is not mine so don’t get pressed at me.

When I arrived at my apartment I quickly locked the door behind me, making sure it was bolted shut before sitting down on a chair.
“What was that?” I asked myself. It appeared to be blood but that’s impossible. If someone had cut themselves they would have told me. And even if they didn’t how was it so perfectly dripping from the eyes of the bust?
It was 7:15 I had no time for questions like these. I had to get ready for my evening with the Avengers. Sighing I went to the bathroom to grab a quick shower, hoping to rid myself of the feeling of dread that seemed to have followed me home.
As I got ready there were a million questions flying around inside my head. “What was that?” “Why was it there?” “Who’s blood was that?” “How did it get there?” and most importantly, “Why am I feeling like this?”
I should have been freaked out, that was normal. But what was disturbing was the fact that the feeling seemed to have followed me home. It was almost like a tangible mass, suffocating me, trying to drown me in its misery.
I had no time for thoughts like that. I almost ran out the door to my car but I didn’t care. At least whatever that feeling was seemed to have disappeared.
When I entered the hotel I could see the team waiting for me in the lobby. Gods I hope I wasn’t too late. “Hey guys!” I said, pretending that nothing was wrong. “Hey! You’re just on time.” Well at least that’s one thing that went right today.
“Yep. Couldn’t miss a chance to show you guys the wonders of Egypt.” Natasha laughed and said, “Well let’s go! That food isn’t going to eat itself and I don’t know about you guys but I’m starving.” I could already tell this was going to be a good time.
Tumblr media
We went to multiple bars and restaurants around the city, trying all the authentic Egyptian cuisine. At the end of the night we were all stuffed, but I still wanted to show them one more place.
“What is this place?” Steve asked. I couldn’t tell if he was amazed or scared. “This is the Temple of Amun. It is the largest religious building in the world, though some claim Angkor Wat in Cambodia is larger, and honors not only Amun but other gods such as Osiris, Montu, Isis, Ptah and the Egyptian rulers who wished to be remembered for their contributions to the site. It was built from around 2040 - 1782 BCE to 323 - 30 BCE, however some argue that construction started around 2613 - 2181 BCE.”
“And how did you manage to get us in here?” Loki asked. “It seems like this is private property.”
“Oh it is. I just happen to work for the right people and managed to get us in. One of the many perks of being me.” I could swear I saw Loki’s eyes shine brighter than usual but that must be the moonlight playing tricks on my eyes. Or another one of those Asgardian things. I couldn’t tell.
As I opened the gate to let us in everyone in the group let out a collective gasp. “Y/N this is amazing!” It was. The temple was huge, filled with rows upon rows of columns and statues, the walls everywhere were lined with hieroglyphs telling stories of ages long forgotten and people who no longer mattered.
“We have free access to the temple as long as none of you blow anything up.”
“Yeah Tony don’t blow anything up.” Sam said with a shit eating grin on his face. “Ok first of all”
“First of all what? You got nothing. Because that’s totally something you would do.” At this point Tony threw his arms up in the air in exasperation. “I’m not going to blow anything up but you Wilson. So shut it.”
“Well that escalated quickly.” Said Wanda with a bemused look. As we walked further into the temple we kept talking about life in general. Apparently life with the Avengers was more normal than you would think. Well as normal as the life of a superhero gets.
“So Y/N what do you do for fun?” It was Loki who asked this particular question. It was usually a harmless one however this time it seemed like there was a hidden meaning, something more to the innocent question than what met the eye.
Or maybe it was just me. “Oh nothing really. I usually do things for the museum or the temples and tombs I do tours of. In my spare time I wander the city but I don’t have a lot of that. All my friends live back in New Mexico and they visit sometimes.”
“And do you enjoy that? Your work I mean.” I thought back to the blood in the tomb. “Usually.”
“What do you mean usually?” I tried to think of a way to not sound crazy. “Well sometimes it gets boring and I miss New Mexico but other than that it’s great. He didn’t look completely convinced. “I see. Well I hope you don’t home too much. This really is a wonderful city.”
“It is indeed.”

Assyrian Warns Americans to Visit Ilhan Omar’s District: You Won’t Think It’s America
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Middle Eastern Women’s Coalition (MEWC) director Nahren Anweya on Wednesday warned Americans who visit Minnesota’s 5th district, Rep. Ilhan Omar’s district, the 2016 “terrorist recruitment capital of the country.”
“You won’t even think you’re in America,” she said of the district that elected Ilhan Omar.
MEWC Director of Speical Projects Anweya was speaking at an MEWC press conference calling for Rep. Omar to resign. She said she has cousins and family members “called whores for showing” part of the back of the arm in Iraq, “a country where one day they were wearing mini skirts.”
“It is truly because of people like [Rep.] Ilhan [Omar], when the government is infiltrated and it starts this way because it happened in Iraq and it happened against us,” she went on. “Iraq used to be a country where Jews lived freely, where Assyrian Christians lived freely, where even Armenians were there, and even moderate Muslims lived until sharia law took place and everyone was affected.”
“Americans truly need to understand that this will affect you one day if you don’t make a change right now,” she said of sharia, adding she knows the early signs of genocide.
Anweya asked how the House of Representatives passed 393-0, “Resolution 75 recognizing the ongoing genocide of Christians and other religious minorities under ISIS” in March 2016 but now support representatives like Ilhan Omar. She cited Omar’s request to a judge for a lighter sentence for a terrorist supporter.
“We are here because of God, to give you a warning as Americans,” said Anweya. “We are here to tell you this is coming here, and it is here and it will affect you. It will affect everyone.”
“You will see your daughters get beheaded,” she went on. Anweya said she interviewed hundreds of families of all religions affected in the genocide in Iraq who “watched family members get executed right in front of them and that’s when reality hit them and they knew it was too late and that sharia law had taken full control of that country.”
She said she would not stop until Rep. Omar resigns in light of her anti-Semitism, possible ties to terrorism, and sympathy for radicals. She pointed to her experience being born and raised in the Middle East.
Anweya went further to decry members of Congress supporting Omar while “knowing what is happening in Minnesota’s 5th district,” Ilhan Omar’s district.
“If you don’t know, I highly advise you to take a trip to Minnesota’s 5th district and you will see what’s happening,” Anweya suggested. “You won’t even think you’re in America.”

Flag meaning: The red field stands for "bravery and valor. The sun epitomizes peace and prosperity, while its 40 rays stand for the number of tribes united by Manas to fight against the Mongols, as well as the number of followers he had.
The centre of the sun features a stylized illustration of the roof (tunduk) atop a traditional Kyrgyz tent (yurt) when viewed from the interior. Although these tents are less commonly used today, its incorporation into the flag is meant to symbolize the "origin of life", the "unity of time and space", as well as the people's "hearth and home" and their history.
Brief History
The Kyrgyz state reached its greatest expansion after defeating the Uyghur Khaganate in 840 A.D. From the 10th century the Kyrgyz migrated as far as the Tian Shan range and maintained their dominance over this territory for about 200 years.
In the twelfth century the Kyrgyz dominion had shrunk to the Altay Range andSayan Mountains as a result of the Mongol expansion.
With the rise of the Mongol Empire in the thirteenth century, the Kyrgyz migrated south.
The Kyrgyz peacefully became a part of the Mongol Empire in 1207.
The descent of the Kyrgyz from the autochthonous Siberian population, on the other hand, is confirmed by recent genetic studies.
Because of the processes of migration, conquest, intermarriage, and assimilation, many of the Kyrgyz peoples who now inhabit Central and Southwest Asia are of mixed origins, often stemming from fragments of many different tribes, though they now speak closely related languages.
Kyrgyz tribes were overrun in the 17th century by the Mongols, in the mid-18th century by the Manchurian Qing Dynasty, and in the early 19th century by the Uzbek Khanate of Kokand.
In the late nineteenth century, the eastern part of what is today Kyrgyzstan, mainly Issyk-Kul Region, was ceded to Russian Empire through the Treaty of Tarbagatai between China and Russia.
The Russian takeover was met with numerous revolts against Tsarist authority, and many of the Kyrgyz opted to move to the Pamir Mountains and Afghanistan.
The suppression of the 1916 rebellion against Russian rule in Central Asia caused many Kyrgyz later to migrate to China.
Soviet Kyrgyzstan
Soviet power was initially established in the region in 1919, and the Kara-Kyrgyz Autonomous Oblast was created within the Russian SFSR. On 5 December 1936, the Kirghiz Soviet Socialist Republic was established as a full republic of the Soviet Union.
Many aspects of Kyrgyz national culture were retained despite the suppressionof nationalist activity under Joseph Stalin, who controlled the Soviet Union fromthe late 1920s until 1953.
The Republic's press was permitted to adopt a more liberal stance and toestablish a new publication, Literaturny Kirghizstan, by the Union of Writers.
According to the last Soviet census in 1989, ethnic Kyrgyz made up only 22% ofthe residents of the northern city of Frunze, while more than 60% wereRussians, Ukrainians, and people from other Slavic nations.
On 15 December 1990, the Supreme Soviet voted to change the republic'sname to the Republic of Kyrgyzstan.
Despite these political moves toward independence, economic realities seemedto work against secession from the Soviet Union.
In a referendum on the preservation of the Soviet Union in March 1991, 88.7% of the voters approved the proposal to retain the Soviet Union as a "Renewedfederation".
Secessionist forces pushed Kyrgyzstan's independence through in August of thatsame year.
After the coup collapsed the following week, Akayev and Vice President German Kuznetsov announced their resignations from the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, and the entire bureau and secretariat resigned.
This was followed by the Supreme Soviet vote declaring independence from theSoviet Union on 31 August 1991 as the Republic of Kyrgyzstan.

Cuisine
The cuisine of Kyrgyzstan is similar in many respects to that of its neighbors, particularly Kazakh cuisine.
Traditional Kyrgyz food revolves around mutton (Goat meat) and horse meat, as well as various dairy products.
Kyrgyzstan is home to many different nationalities and their various cuisines.
In larger cities, such as Bishkek, Osh, Jalal-Abad, and Karakol, various national and international cuisines can be found.
On the road and in the villages, the cuisine tends to be standard Kyrgyz dishes, liberally flavored with oil or sheep fat, which are considered both delicious and healthy by the local population.

Bagaimana jika aku belum menemukan Tujuan Hidup?
Di tengah-tengah saya mengerjakan tugas Mini Project Iship, ada satu pikiran yang tiba-tiba muncul "Apa sih sebenarnya yang Allah mau aku lakukan di dunia ini?". At some point in my life, i could feel anxious, mungkin karena saya begitu banyak melihat orang-orang hebat yang membuat saya takjub, dengan cara pikirnya dan determinasi beliau-beliau untuk mewujudkan mimpi-mimpi...
