Transfer (Request)
Request: hi, requests are open, right?? can i request a scenario where {y/n} is a new student and the teacher has mark give her a tour around the school, but she's so clumsy (aka tripping/almost running into lockers) bc she thinks mark is really cute? thank you ^^
Mark x Reader
Word Count: 1.6k
Genre: Fluff
A/N: This was rlly cute to write honestly, idk if it's actually any good, but I had fun writing it :')
You felt your hands start to shake as you neared the classroom, gripping so tightly to your bag straps that your knuckles started to turn white. You bit onto the inside of your cheeks as the PA of the principle suddenly halted in her stride, pushing the door open to what you could only assume was your classroom.
You wouldn't have been so nervous if everyone wasn't already in their classes, which meant that your had to stand in front of your new peers and awkwardly introduce yourself. The sheer thought of doing that made you feel sick. You weren't exactly the most extroverted person in the world, nor were you the most introverted; you were somewhere in the middle and different situations had totally different effects on you.
Having to stand in front of a large group of people and talk was one of the situations where you'd much rather throw yourself off of a building.
You tentatively walked in, watching your step; with your luck you'd trip and fall and make a huge show of yourself within the first minute of meeting your new classmates. The PA announced to the class that you were a new student and that ultimately left a slightly sour expression on your face as her voice grabbed everyone's attention; all eyes were on you.
"Crap!" You seethed as you felt your thigh hit the corner of one of the desks at the front of the room. You tried to ignore the throbbing pain and the muffled giggles of some of your classmates as you composed yourself and continued to walk over to where the teacher was standing; head lowered in embarrassment attempting to conceal the dusting of pink on your cheeks.
The teacher gestured for you to face the others, hinting at you to introduce yourself.
"I'm Y/N.. I just moved here and I hope to settle in well." You pushed through the fear of speaking to everyone and once you finished you quickly rushed over to one of the spare desks at the edge of the room. You felt a few eyes following you as you sat down; letting out a small sigh, resting your chin on the palm of your hand as you leant on the desk.
You could tell that day was going to be a long and painful one. Having to sit by yourself at lunch and having to find your way around the school by yourself; trying to navigate the vast amount of corridors and classrooms in a bid to get to your next class – in which you would have to introduce yourself again – you just wanted the first day to be over already.
It was still your first class of the day, but the warm sunlight outside grasped your attention away from the monotone voice of your teacher that had been dragging out for the entire lesson, detecting a slight breeze outside seeing the bare branches of the trees swaying ever so slightly. Your eyes wandered to the large clock that sat above the door, it gave you a perk of energy when you saw you only had ten minutes left. Little did you realise that the same monotone voice that had been drilling into your ears for the past fifty minutes was calling your name.
"Y/N."
"Oh! Sorry.."
"Did you hear what I just said?" She stared at you expectantly, replying with a small shake of your head. "I said, you will be shadowing Mark for today until you get your own timetable."
You were lost with who she was referring to until she gestured to the boy with a head of platinum blonde hair who was sat at the desk next to you, he held your gaze with his soft and charming eyes and offered a small smile which emphasised the adorable apples of his cheeks.
You were trying your best not to blatantly gawk at his perfectly structured face, but you were going to openly admit; it was hard not to.
"I-erm, okay.." You became completely lost in thought as you felt his eyes on you. You just knew you were going to embarrass yourself that day.
The bell rang through out the corridors and within the blink of an eye, the entire class had disappeared; the only person left besides yourself, was Mark.
“Well.. let's get going I guess.” You noticed his attempt at trying to be as friendly as possible – even though it came off as slightly awkward – you truly appreciated it.
You both exited the classroom together and started walking down the corridor, people giving you odd looks and you swore you even saw the odd glare here and there from a few girls, but you didn't understand why they were eyeing you up and down with a hint of anger in their eyes.
“So, where are you from?” You could tell he was trying to create small talk in a bid to tear away from the lingering silence that plagued you both at you continued to walk down the corridor.
“______, my mum got a job here so we had to move.”
“Well, don't worry. I was the new kid a few years ago, I know how tough it can be. I moved here from Vancouver.” You saw him hesitate, as if he were debating on whether or not to say something else. You waited for what seemed like minutes but was merely seconds. “I-I’m always here to help. Because, you know, I-I found it really hard too, so I can sympathise- I mean er, empathise with you..? Is that the right word?”
You couldn’t hold back the hearty little giggle that you were trying to contain. He was too pure and sweet. The way he tripped over his words and how sincere they were was endearing to you.
The doe-eyed boy looked at you slightly confused. He awkwardly laughed along as a tint of red stained the apples of his cheeks; running a hand through his platinum locks coyly.
Once you composed yourself, you looked at him with a wide smile.
“Thank you, Mark.. it means a lot.”
“No problem.” He returned the smile, but his time he showed off his perfectly uniformed teeth, causing your heart to swell in your chest.
You never knew a crush could develop so quickly, you had only know him for about twenty minutes, yet you felt giddy whenever he smiled. God help you for the rest of your time at that school.
-
It was finally lunch and you were ready to devour the food you brought with you.
You practically clung to Mark in each lesson up until lunch; nothing changing once the bell rang.
As you headed towards the canteen, you felt a hand wrap around your wrist.
“I go to the library for lunch. To be honest, we shouldn't eat in there but the librarian likes me. So she lets me get away with it.”
“You want me to sit with you at lunch?” You were kind of surprised; expecting him to be happy to finally get rid of you.
“Yeah? Is that a bad thing?” Once again, he was completely confused; he looked like a deer in headlights as he didn't understand why the idea was so shocking to you.
“No no- yeah I'll sit with you.” He smiled, yet again, and started to walk down a set of stairs and you followed closely behind.
You didn't notice that you were staring at him as he walked in front of you and you missed the last step, causing you to trip and go flying across the floor.
“Oh my god are you okay?!” A tinge of worry in his voice as he helped you up.
“Yeah..” You let out a small sigh and slumped your shoulders in defeat. “I'm just a really clumsy idiot.” You laughed slightly, feeling quite pitiful.
"Correction, a really clumsy and cute idiot." You could tell by the look on his face that whatever surge of confidance took over him to be able to say that to you, almost immediately disappeared. His eyes widened slightly, just realising what he had said; a look of shock on his face. His cheeks flared a bright pink as he started to play with the hem of his jumper. He collected himself and cleared his throat, "We don't have long for lunch so lets go..."
He sped off ahead of you and you were lingering behind him, completely dumbfounded Though, you couldn't miss this golden opportunity to toy with him.
"Wait, what was that Mark? I don't think I quite got that." You teased as you caught up to him, looking up at him with a cheeky smirk etched onto your face.
"Nothing."
"Are you sure? I swore I heard the word cute."
"Shut up Y/N." He couldn't hold back the smile on his face no matter how hard he tried to fight it, your giddy self distracting him for his embarrassing moment.
"Well, sorry to break it to you, but you're going to have to out up with this everyday for the next few years. You think you can handle that?" You joked, only playing with the idea of him being with you everyday.
"I think I can handle that." He looked at you and smiled. You swore you saw his eyes light up at the thought, but you put that down to you just imagining things.
Little did you know that he meant what he said. He was happily willing to spend everyday with you.
That day was completely different than most other days; it seemed brighter and more colourful than usual. He was convinced it was you who made it that way.
