[11:18pm]
The night was quiet and peaceful. Music played softly in your dimly lit bedroom. Little taps of a phone keyboard could be heard just a few inches down from where you sat on the bed. You looked from your own phone to see Donghyuck looking down and texting someone.
For a moment your mind wondered to the potential of him texting a lover that made you eyes waiver unknowingly. Surely he would’ve told you if that was the case, you were best friends after all. He was probably just texting his other best friend, Mark.
You wanted to be in his heart only like he was in yours so badly. You screamed about it every night into your pillow on the rare occasion he wasn’t there. When he was, you settled on silently screaming while rolling around in anguish on the bed where he slept soundly next to you, blissfully unaware.
You loved staring at him. He was so beautiful with his golden skin and the fluffy brown hair that was growing out nicely. He was slouched against the wall but still his composure was so elegant. His hands that typed away seemed so dainty and effortless as his fingers were adorned with rings. The thought of holding them and feeling that familiar warmth always made your breath hitch in your throat as you felt your heart stop. Your gaze shifted with one of his hands that reached up to move his glasses back up. He wore no makeup due to the time which allowed you to view the moles on his cheeks that cascaded down his neck perfectly. The longer you looked the more things you found to love.
So lost in your own mind, you hadn’t cared about the fact he noticed your eyes and was now looking at you.
“What’s up?” He asked, his head tilted a bit.
That was his way of asking if anything was wrong. There was a familiar flutter in your chest from the simple action. You blinked a few times before sitting up straight against your pillows and shaking your head.
“I was just thinking.” You shrugged.
“About what?” He pondered.
“Your moles.” You answered.
A pout appeared on his lips at the mention. He confided in your once they made him insecure which you could never understand. You never knew how to respond just because you knew you’d end up with a whole essay which would be suspicious.
“You know-“ He started.
“I know.” You confirmed before he could finish his sentence. “I never understood your resentment toward them, Hyuck.”
“Of course not.” He sighed.
“Some people theorize they’re where your twin flame kissed you most in the last life. They’ve always been pretty and maybe that idea can help you change the way you think about them.”
His phone landed in his laps at your words. You could see his eyes look across your own face and body in silence. He moved from his snug spot against the wall on your bed to sit directly across from you. The closeness always startled you despite how regular it was between the both of you. It never failed to get your heart going and your only hope was he didn’t know.
“You have them too.” He leaned in closer as his eyes scanned your face.
He moved the strands of hair out of your face and tucked them behind one ear. You didn’t expect him to get any closer but suddenly he leaned in and left a kiss on your temple.
“Like here.” He pointed out after leaving the unexpected peck.
He reached up to grab your chin and then there was another kiss on your own cheek, not far from your lips.
“And there too.” He hummed.
There had been plenty times where the both of you had kissed each other cheeks. Something felt different now though. You just hope he hadn’t been able to see the blush appear on your cheeks and the felt the heat with the kiss.
Both hands now cupped your cheeks in such a way there was no way to avoid his stare. You could see his gaze move downward before moving back to meet your own once again.
“I’ve never noticed how many little moles you have around your lips.” He smiled. “I guess I kissed you a lot there in the last life… And I’ll do it again in this one.”
Before you could even question him, his plump, soft lips were against your own. The air was taken out of your lungs and you could feel your heart pounding in your chest. A sigh escape automatically and you could feel your body relax under his touch. You moved into his body more as his hands moved down your sides to rest on your waist as your hands instinctively went to his neck to pull his closer only to slid down to his rest on his chest as his arms were now wrapped around your waist to pull you flush against him.
You could feel his rapid heartbeat under your palm which had you smiling against his lips.
Oh yes, he would most be definitely keeping his promise to you.

— Prologue: “Is it okay if i stay over tonight? You’re sure? I don’t want to overstep your boundaries.”
— Summary: Where you spend the night at each other’s houses for the first time and despite being told to be comfortable you are being very careful.
— Genre: Fluffy smut. First time staying over type of trope. New established relationship. Jaemin is such a green flag. ugh best boyfriend goals. Rookie couples. Heavy makeouts. Soft soft protected sex. Hand holding while they do it.
— Notes:
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
There is always a first time in everything when you get in a brand new relationship with someone. You’re always trying to be super careful to not do the wrong move because you don’t want things to go bad.
It can be very nerve wrecking. There’s the first time holding hands which is always kind of awkward at first because none of you are used to holding hands. Or the first time having your kiss, it’s always so short and difficult to pull away from.
And then there is coming over to your boyfriend’s house for the first time.
You’re between the border of trying not to make it obvious that you’re uncomfortable but also trying to get used to your brand new environment. You see your boyfriend has been with you for only five months. Nearly six months. He’s been over to your house for dinner before but it never once crossed his mind until recently that now he realised; you never been over to his house.
Jaemin really loves spending time with you and he wants you to be comfortable. So when you walk inside the house you take your shoes off and try to be as formal and polite as possible.
That was the first time you came over to his house. You ended up being super formal that day and Jaemin always told you to be comfortable and not feel weird about the new surroundings.
But now that you came over once, you started coming over during the evenings. Your second time over at your boyfriend’s house you’re slightly more comfortable than before.
You’re slowly adjusting. “Hey babe? Is it okay if i move your pillows in a different position?” You call out from his bedroom.
Jaemin from the living room raised an eyebrow wondering why do you even have to ask? You could just do what you wish with the pillows. “You don’t have to ask me! Do what you want.” He calls out as his attention was on whatever was playing on the television screen.
You smile a little. He was always telling you to do what you want since he wants to make his house feeling like it’s your home too now.
But it’s difficult to get used to.
Scrolling through your phone as you adjust the pillows into the position you want you’re noticing the time. It’s getting nearly late and you’re wondering when do you have to leave? Your boyfriend hasn’t really asked you what time yet you will leave. You don’t have a time set either. You’re waiting for Jaemin to kick you out but he wasn’t really planning to have you leave anytime soon.
So the more time goes by it’s very late and you’re contemplating by staying over his house now. Surely it wouldn’t hurt to stay over?
You don’t want to leave your boyfriend since you enjoy being with him and his presence alone was the most important thing to you. But you don’t want to take away his privacy from Jaemin either. So now you’re debating if staying was the right option.
The bed creaks when you stand up walking out of the bedroom as you approach the couch where your boyfriend was seen watching the screen. Jaemin smiles and wraps his arms around your waist when you approach running his sweet fingertips down your back and under your shirt feeling your bare skin. You took notice of this habit; your boyfriend really likes feeling your smooth skin. He loves skin to skin contact. And he dislikes feeling the clothes on you.
You smile a bit. “Hey, it’s getting late.” Jaemin hums in response at your words as he wasn’t saying much but enjoying your presence at the same time.
“Yeah it is nearly 10.00 at night.” Jaemin says softly in his deep natural voice. You wonder if he can even more attractive than this.
You’re getting shy now since you’re trying to find an opportunity to ask your boyfriend for permission. But why was it so darn hard?
You’re getting shy for no reason, you’re also stressing about the fact if you’re being too clingy or if you’re being too pushy. You don’t want to be either of those things and you value that space was very important in a relationship. This relationship you have with Jaemin was something you take very personal in your heart. You want this to work.
So far your relationship was nothing but good. You both grow and help each other grow together and individually as well.
Jaemin was the perfect example for you. He makes you feel valued and appreciated. Unlike in the past you’ve never gotten so many compliments by a man until you’ve met Jaemin. And he really makes sure to let you know everyday that you’re important and that you deserve everything.
The thoughts in your head were overcrowding your actual thinking so now you are staring at your boyfriend and your voice comes out slightly small and timid too.
“Can I stay over tonight?” You whisper as you don’t want Jaemin to feel like he has to keep you around.
Your boyfriend wasn’t expecting you to even ask. He didn’t want you to ask this question either because he thought you would be staying anyways. It was late and there’s no way in the world that he will let you leave his house at ten in the night. It’s not that he doesn’t trust that you can get home, it’s more like Jaemin was more or so worried for your safety. He doesn’t trust the world out there and he’d rather have you sleep with him on the bed than have you sleep alone tonight too. You’re everything to him.
“Baby you don’t even have to ask me. My home is now your home, I told you this before.” Jaemin’s expression was a mixture of surprise and bluntness as if you didn’t even have to ask him this right now. Your hands were slowly kissed on the back as Jaemin pants his puckering eyes down there with his soft mouth.
Your cheeks grew a slight pinkish shade across your skin like it was a waterfall spreading everywhere on the land.
Jaemin has so many ways to make you think he’s so perfect. Beyond perfect actually. The word perfect wasn’t enough to describe him.
You slowly exhale. “Is it okay if i stay over tonight? You’re sure? I don’t want to overstep your boundaries.”
Your worried eyes meet Jaemin’s as he can see that you’re trying to be respectful here. You’re the type of person to be extremely cautious and Jaemin really finds this to be thoughtful of you. But at the same time you don’t need to be.
“I don’t have any boundaries when it comes to you. Do what you want okay? If you’re hungry you can take what you want from my fridge. You can even take my clothes, I am fine with whatever you want.”
He was telling you this as if this was all so easy. You’re almost unable to process that you can get away with anything right now but you don’t know what to do with that privilege.
You almost feel like you don’t deserve it. You whisper a little as you’re unable to think much more. Your boyfriend’s loving eyes watching you makes all sorts of emotions run to your face.
“Jaemin I’m just being cautious. I don’t want to make you think that I’m too clingy or pushy.” You say as you’re holding your running thoughts on pause.
He can’t believe you’re here thinking that he would ever see you as being ‘too clingy’. If anything Jaemin wants you to be clingy to him without a second question!
“Okay I think I need you to rethink your words right now.” Jaemin said with a chuckle.
What he said sounded like a warning. You blink your eyes in innocent confusion. “What—?”
He brushed his lips away from your hands and slowly stands up suddenly he was lifting you and you let out a soft sudden sigh as you’re wondering what was happening right now. Your own boyfriend carried you to the bedroom, placing your dead weight on the bed as he crawled on top giving you soft kisses on your cheeks and forehead. Out of nowhere you’re having all these physical kiss-attacks and you’re here unable to take much more.
Jaemin saw your hands fiddling around in places as you’re growing more and more ticklish with the way his lips were planting between your skin and skin. Your own body was struggling to contain what your boyfriend was making you feel. He pins your hands on the side of the bed against the two pillows surface, you’re here breathing heavily as you’re also giggling a little.
When he heard that giggle of yours Jaemin wanted to ascend and have you repeat that giggle again and again and again — until he is sick of it.
You’re unable to contain the way your stomach was doing flips on its own. The way the emotions turning inside your guts. Your abdomen clenching with each loving touch your boyfriend holds on you and gives it without needing anything else from you. All your boyfriend wants from you is you to smile. Feelings inside your stomach boils like a pot on a burning stove, and your legs were digging into the duvet covers while the room was holding all your protesting soft noises and laughs together.
“Ahh Jaemin this isn’t fair. So unfair. You can’t use your strength and kisses against me.” You’re trailing with mumbles.
He smirks against your neck where he nuzzles his nose into your nape smelling your scent, inhaling it as you always smell so good. You smell like peace. You bring him peace.
Jaemin whispers teasingly. “Oh but you don’t seem to be complaining when I give you them.”
“We were having a serious conversation about me staying over!”
You say with your cheeks growing red. Jaemin knew his teasing always tends to get under your skin. The boy above you pulls away his head from your nape to gaze into your eyes.
“And I said it’s completely acceptable.” He softly pressed a loving kiss on your forehead and then hovers over your untouched lips.
“It’s worth it.” He adds, before he pressed a loving and deep long kiss on your lips that look so kissable from the above view.
When he told you this you’re wondering if your boyfriend means it and then you feel the rushing emotions in the kiss, and you just know now that he was being sincere and genuine.
Your boyfriend didn’t care about anything else but wanting you to stay over. You’re now understanding his point. You don’t have to be so uptight and worry if you’re doing something wrong. Because Jaemin knows you have the truest intentions of kindness for him and that’s all he needs from you.
The kiss overtakes you both in a magical world where you sense everything behind measures of your love. Jaemin didn’t hold back. He lets you know just how much he wants to kiss you. Just how much he could kiss you forever if he could. Jaemin pressed the tongue into the surface of your romantic kiss while his hands cupping your face slide down your jawline reaching over your neck where the shirt you wore starts to be tugged in. It falls off your beautiful figure when you say up letting your boyfriend do what he wants now. Your eyes are pressed closed while your entire mind was on the continual pleasure from the kiss that keeps going on.
Words of affirmation he told you beforehand were on a replay like a radio station in your head. It somehow puts you on ease too. You love that Jaemin’s affirmations were made to calm you down as well as show you that your overthinking doesn’t need to be used when he’s nearby.
You can rely on him. You can do anything with him and Jaemin would be more than happy to do it for you. As long as you’re happy and comfortable, he gets to spend his time with you.
The hands slide down to your hips after your lower sweats were pulled down and Jaemin’s mouth breaks apart temporarily only to brush over your beautiful breasts that came out of your bra. His tongue runs down your nipples giving it a gentle suck before detaching from your tits to go up and kiss you once again in a hungry makeout.
You feel all sorts of sensations run down when your legs spread open when his hands run down your inner thighs and Jaemin’s middle fingertip pressed against the pantie lining above your clit.
Soft moan comes out of your mouth as your head leans back and your eyes fell down watching his hand where it’s at. “Should I stretch you out?”
Jaemin asked you quietly as your eyes look up at him. “Yeah please.” You give him a little nod and he leans in kissing your cheek. “Okay baby.”
Whenever he calls you all these sweet loving pet names it makes you feel really small in the best way possible. You feel like a small lost puppy around Jaemin.
He had the ability to make you feel loved, too loved. Your hips buckle forward once Jaemin slips off your panties to your ankles and throws them somewhere on the floor in his bedroom, without a single care. The only thing his focus was really on was the sight of your heavenly pussy, ready to be devoured in everything he has for you.
Brushing the palm on top he thrusts in his middle fingertip first, your head hung back a little as you’re adjusting to the stretching of your velvet compressing walls.
“Fuck…” You murmur into your palm while your boyfriend was trying to be as careful but enough to give you some pleasure too.
The second finger came in when he heard you moan. It shown that you must’ve lined the way his short nails brushed along your bouncy walls inside. Jaemin loves hearing your breathy voice too. Especially when you’re on the brick of cumming right there and then.
He might be soft with you outside the bedroom, and he was also a little soft with you in the bedroom activities too. But he can be slightly more gruff about it too.
Jaemin can really be dominating in the bedroom. It’s like he shines differently when he is fucking your soul out of you. But you don’t mind it when he can be a little more rough with you, because his sweet voice always said the most soft loving things to you. Despite the way he can really have you begging.
Thrusting a few more times, Jaemin pulls the fingers out licking them clean with his mouth before leaning over and sitting upwards to go open one of the drawers next to the bed.
You whimper at the loss of your boyfriend’s fingers but your eyes gracefully follow his silhouette seeing what he was pulling out.
He smirks when he saw your eyes fixated on the packet of condoms. Jaemin rips one open as he slips off his boxers.
“You want to put it on for me?” He asked you as you looked eager when you saw his manhood spring up against is stomach hitting the surface on it.
Your boyfriend was quite big. You won’t lie but you can’t deny the fact that Jaemin was built perfectly. He was long but not too long. He was perfectly thick in the right areas and you drool over the sight of your boyfriend’s manshood. Your hand brushed the condom down and Jaemin bites his bottom lip watching your small hands dressing the condom on his hard boner.
“That’s it, good girl.”
Your face grew a million shades redder hearing your boyfriend’s deep nasal voice echoing the praise to your ears giving you a kiss on your cheek, lowering himself down he pushed your legs up a little until they sit on top of his shoulders. Folding you into a position to his liking he wanted to get the right deepness and the richness of your body to the fullest because tonight — your boyfriend is going to prove to you why it is worth it staying over.
The gnashing movements created between your two bodies connecting as one made your body move forward as the length piercingly increases in and out of your entrance. Just the mere thickness alone has you thinking you’re going to rip apart with the overwhelming burning sensation. You however love the fact that you can feel the stinging pleasure because eventually the same sting turns into something else.
Your mouth shatters apart from your moans. The carnal length barely inside you for more than a few minutes has your mind starting to wander on its own. Foggiest invades your brain. Your cheeks are burning hot like they are scorched by the sun itself. The sight of your boyfriend’s darkly lit eyes staring you down like you’re a prey he had his eyes on for so long excites you.
“Oh fuck… Jaemin…”
Hearing his name leaving your lips like a flying letter, it was almost empowering. You give him so much power over you.
Jaemin smirks leaning down giving your collarbones a few sucks stringing from his teeth and balm lips. “You like this?” He asked you.
But he didn’t expect you to answer considering you’re unable to. The moans keep coming out of you instead.
He knows you liked it too, it is written on your beautiful face like a giant billboard you’d see on middle of the road.
The sensation can not compare to anything the two of you ever experienced and that’s what makes this so much more special and enjoyable.
It is the raw sight of your own love growing to its deepest lusts and hormones. Your body has never met such a perfect combination with anyone before and Jaemin was just so perfect.
He was perfect at giving and not expecting anything back. His pleasure came from seeing you mooch over his cock that is thrusting into you so deeply until you cannot take it anymore.
The fact that you’re looking even more and more beautiful the further more your squeezing carries him through the sensual movements, Jaemin was taking his sweet time with you. He loves seeing your feverish smile and your eyes closing every time the inch of his front tip was peeking into a zone of your weak spot that makes you squirm with more intensity.
You’re brushing your stomach inwards the moment Jaemin dig deeper going down even more while your hands roam around his shoulder blades and your mouth opens up. “Ahh squeezing me so much Y/n…” Jaemin‘a hushed groans were telling you how much he was enjoying the way you feel.
Your warmth emitting from your body on the outside and on the inside, as well as how wet you’re feeling down there makes his cock stand out even more. Jaemin was aroused by the simplest things however which was the way your eyes never broke eye contact.
He smiles leaning down kissing you softly again but this time your hands connect. He moves up his fingers attaching them around yours while on the sides they’re pinning.
He sighs deeply as he strikes himself slowly going in an upwards motion, he clenched his eyes shut. “God… I won’t last if you keep doing this to me.”
You drawl out your mouth running it down his neck while pressing kisses down his adam’s apple which makes Jaemin shiver.
The things you do to him makes him go crazy even more. You’re driving him off the edge.
“Hhhghr… I’m so close.” He quietly turned to you when your head pressed down on the pillows and you suck on your stomach with each of your boyfriends incoming sensual thrusts.
They feel slow yet powerful. Jaemin’s head hung low with his messy black hair while you’re here breathing more heavily as your breath quickens. The mattress becomes wrinkled as the bedsheets were following each of your silhouettes.
The darkness of the room becomes inevitable but the sight of your boyfriend’s expression when he finally feels the surging urge to come never leaves your memory.
Jaemin hissed. “Fuck—” Moving the hips upwards. “I’m cumming—” he slowly whispers moving down on you again. “Ah fuck m’cumming Y/n…”
You’re leaning back your sluggish body when the warm filling of your boyfriend releasing inside the plastic rubber. You’re feeling his hands clench on your fingers tight as his gaze grows black mixing in with stare.
He feels like he was seeing stars and his ears were shutting out every sound, all he could hear was small rings.
Jaemin deeply exhales as he leans down to get the opportunity to kiss your tempting lips once more. Your lips kiss back in slow motion while you feel his hand relax in the hold.
You whisper your sighs against his lips, while your boyfriend pulls away to look at your face brushing your hand on your hair.
“It was worth it.” Jaemin says with a smile. “Right?” He’d ask you knowing the real answer already.
“Mhm it was Worth It.” You tell him.

Tumblr media
pairing: bf!mark x afab!reader
genre: fluff
warnings: this is super duper fluffy, you might die. its very cute
summary: you and mark just started dating. this is what he would take you to do while on a date, as well as your first kiss.
a/n: for my new favorite pookie jy (@stillgoldenpb) thank u for reading my mark breeding hc over 10 times. MWAH MWAH.. also sorry if u wanted smut, i was in a fluffy mood so i did mark fluff, but i can make a mark smut one-shot just incase.
Tumblr media
First Date:
For your first date with Mark, he would take you for a ride in his Audi A6, to a nice little restaurant out of town. He had discovered it when he went for a drive and knew you would like it.
It was a small place, very few people there, and all of them were nice, and complemented you on being a cute couple. There was a jukebox in the corner, that he would queue up a bunch of songs on, many he knew you liked.
When you were done eating, he “forced” you to dance with him. Meaning he took your hand and lead you to the empty dance-floor, with a wide and enticing smile.
You danced to a couple of songs, talking and gazing into each other's eyes the whole time. When the sun began to set, you leave the restaurant and drive to a nearby peak.
You sat on the edge, legs dangling over, the beach view below you paired with the sunset. You didn’t leave until the sun had disappeared. He gave you his jacket to wear during the walk back to his car, knowing it would be a lot colder now that it was dark.
By the time you got home, it was late. He jokingly asked if you were going to invite him inside. You didn’t, but he left with a quick kiss to your cheek.
Tumblr media
First Kiss:
Your first kiss didn’t happen on an official second date, but after you decided to meet up at the beach. He told you about his day, his training, and how much he loved singing. You told him your goals, and all the places you wanted to see.
Eventually, your conversation become more playful and joking, even more so when you found an abandoned basketball. (HE CANT PLAY FOR SHIT LMFAO)
You tossed it to each other a few times as you continued to talk and tease each other. After you caught the ball, and you teased him for having a weak throw, he began to chase you. Tackling you (softly) to the ground, you were left giggling, and he was watching you with an adoring smile.
When you locked eyes, lying in the sand, he would reach over and brush some sand off your face. Then, quicker than you were expecting, he leaned in and pressed a soft kiss to your lips. When he broke away, he apologized, saying he just felt the overwhelming urge to kiss you.
You smiled and told him it was alright, you felt it too. Pleased with this, he asked if he could kiss you again, to which you obviously said yes.

11:48 pm
12 more minutes until you’d get to see him again.
You sighed as rays of blue light danced on your skin. You hadn’t heard from Mark in 2 weeks. His schedule had gotten so hectic preparing for the Dream comeback and the 127 tour, he hardly had time to think, let alone call you. Mark’s absence was difficult, but it was understandable. He was doing what he loved, even if it meant being sleep-deprived, overworked, and under-appreciated. You hated how the idol life took its toll on him, but he constantly reassured you that he was fine.
With bags under his eyes, ever-so-slightly slumped shoulders, and a jitter in his fingers, he told you he was fine. So you told him you believed him, even though it split your heart in two to watch him suffer. You never wanted to pry because it might stress him out to really talk about his feelings, so the time you spent together was treated like an escape from reality; An escape from fame for Mark, and an escape from academia for you.
Mark would tell you about a funny thing that Haechan did in the dorms, or read you a poem he had written while in the car heading to dance practice. Your favourite was when he would bring out his guitar and pluck haphazard melodies as you watched him through the screen. Then Mark would ask you about your day, and you’d tell him about the quaint little cafe you stumbled into after an exam, or the squirrels that you fed at the bus stop on your way to school.
The few times that Mark would actually tell you about his NCT activities, he’d rave about how amazing tour practice has been, and how he wanted you in the crowd with him. On those days, you’d have to remind Mark that you couldn’t be anywhere near his professional activities because the chances of one of you slipping up and giving nosy fans or intruding journalists a reason to speculate Mark’s romantic life were too high.
Then you’d fall into a suffocating silence until one of you changed the subject.
11:58 pm
2 more minutes until you’d get to see him again.
Your heart melted into the floor as you tussled with the wires of your earphones. Should’ve just bought those Airpods, you thought to yourself. You opened up your laptop, hands shaking as you navigated toward the Facetime app. A green dot appeared next to your laptop camera, and you stared into your reflection. You analyzed the background presented on the screen with a sigh. Your room was a mess. Worse than it usually was. You pushed yourself out of your desk chair, practically sprinting around your bedroom trying to make it seem presentable. Mark had seen your bedroom in every manifestation, from organized to sloppy, but it had never been this bad.
You tossed the dirty clothes laying on your bed into a hamper before adjusting your duvet. Your textbook sat open on your pillow, reminding you that you’d have to finish whatever chapter you were on once you were done indulging in fantasyland with Mark. You threw your bookmark into the bind of the textbook before slamming it closed. Reality could wait until tomorrow morning. The stuffed panda Mark gave you leaned on your headboard, greeting you with its permanent smile. Mark won the stuffed animal for you at a carnival in Chicago when he was on tour. He told you that the moment he saw it, he knew he had to win it for you. 45 minutes and $60 later, the panda was looped under Mark’s arm for the entirety of the tour until he was finally able to bring it back home to you.
12:00 am
Your ears perked at the unmistakable melody ringing from your laptop.
[Mark <3 is calling]
Your feet carried you to your computer in what felt like half a second. You plopped down onto your chair, fixing your hair before putting in your earphones and navigating toward the answer button.
“Yeobooooo,” Mark’s voice flooded your ears, allowing a riptide to form in your heart.
“Maaaarrrk,” you reply as the corners of your mouth began to upturn. You felt your cheeks warm up at the sight of Mark. He was dressed in an oversized grey hoodie, with flat hair, and his round glasses. You loved when he wore his glasses. You’d always teased him, calling it harry potter cosplay, but he was undeniably adorable.
“Oh, God, you don’t even know how much I’ve missed you. I’ve been talking about you so much that Johnny actually banned me from talking about you,” Mark chuckled, “$2 fine every time I mention your name,” Mark explained. You felt your heart flutter knowing that Mark missed you as much as you missed him.
“Tell me about it. My friends groan whenever I bring you up when we’re hanging out on campus. I’ve been insufferable without you,” you sigh.
“Glad to know we’re in the same boat.” Mark’s hearty laugh warms your ears. “How’s school?” he continues.
“It’s fine. Just the usual; tests, quizzes, labs, annoying professors, blah, blah. How’s idol life?” You ask.
“Same old. Dance practice, recordings, youtube content, variety shows, same as it always is,” Mark’s reply matches yours, embodying the mutual frustration with the repetitive monotony of your lives that you both feel.
“I get it. It’s nice seeing you for a change, even if I’m technically not actually seeing you. I like hearing your voice.” You fiddle with your earphone wires.
“Yeah, I wish I could reach through the screen and just be there with you. I’ve really missed seeing you in person. Hearing your laugh, the way your nose crinkles, how warm your hugs always are,” Mark trails. You couldn’t help but smile at his words. You missed him more than you’d ever missed anyone.
“Yeah, it sucks a lot. You know, at one point I started listening to those ASMR phone call things on youtube that your fans make of you. They’re actually quite well done,” You confess, opting to stare at your laptop keys instead of Mark.
“ASMR phone calls? I didn’t even know those existed,” he replied. He sounded more amused than weirded out. Mark was never judgemental, especially when it came to you.
“Oh, well you do now I guess.”
“I guess I need to record one of our phone calls so I have something to listen to as well,” Mark joked.
“I’ve sent you like 200 voice recordings in the past, though,” you laugh. Whenever something happened at school and you didn’t feel like typing, you would send Mark voice recordings of you detailing the events that had occurred. Mark always preferred those as he felt as though he were having a real-life conversation with you.
“Oh yeah. I hadn’t even thought about that. I’ve just been suffering without your voice for no reason.” Mark pushed up his glasses. “Hey, is that the panda I got you?” He says as he leans further into his laptop camera to peek more into your bedroom.
“Of course. I’ve kept it on my bed since you gave it to me. It still sort of smells like you,” You say as you get up from your chair and walk toward the panda.
“Probably because it was in my suitcase for like 2 months before I could give it to you,” Mark laughs. You give the panda a squeeze before walking back to your chair, placing the panda on your lap.
“I like it. It feels like you’re here even when you’re across the world,” You gaze at the panda once more. Noting how its right ear has started to flop down with time.
“When do I get to see you?” Mark asks, adjusting the hood of his sweater.
“I’ve got three more weeks until the semester ends,” You say as you glance quickly at the calendar hung above your desk.
“I’ve got three more weeks until the tour starts,” He sighs.
“So that gives us… 2 days?” You squint.
“2 days,” Mark confirmed.
“Is that enough time?” Your fingers start to tinker with the leg of the stuffed panda.
“If you’re willing to be a night owl, then it should be perfect,” He replied, running his hand through his dark hair.
You and Mark hardly ever hung out during the day because of the risk of fans or sasaengs spotting you in public. So you’d usually hang out through the middle of the night, hanging out in parks, taking walks through your neighbourhood, or sneaking him into your house so you could watch movies together. It wasn’t ideal, but just being with him was enough.
“I think it’ll work,” you smile.
“Oh! Do you wanna hear something I’ve been working on?” Mark perks up, looking around his desk for a moment before locking eyes with something off-screen.
“Of course.” You straighten your posture in your seat, anticipating whatever Mark has stored for you. Mark reaches over until his body is out of frame. He returns with his acoustic guitar in hand.
“Okay, it’s a work in progress, and I don’t really have any lyrics for it, but I thought the melody was cool.” Mark begins strumming the guitar, closing his eyes as he allowed the melody to float from his fingers.
It was beautiful. The melody was soft and sweet, a contrast to most of 127’s songs. He began humming along to the guitar, possibly singing what he imagined the lyrics should sound like. The song was pretty, even through the slightly muffled audio from your earphones. You leaned your head into your hands, watching him get lost in his music. It was amazing to watch him. You could only hope to find something that made you feel half as passionate as Mark was with music. His sleepless nights were worth everything in the world if it meant he got to create music.
“How was that?” He asks, opening his eyes to gauge your reaction.
“It was perfect, Mark.”
“Really?” He raised an eyebrow at you. He was always so hypercritical of his own work.
“Yeah, I really loved it.” you nod, “Do you know what you want the song to be about?” You continued.
“Yeah. I think I want to make it a love song about a boy who meets a radiant girl that he can’t stop thinking about,” Mark looks at you expectantly, holding back his signature ping-pong giggle.
“Would it be a stretch to assume that the song is about me?” you raise your eyebrows at him.
“Not a stretch at all. The song is absolutely about you,” Mark’s smile seems to warm the atmosphere of your room.
“So, would you release it with the group?” you glance at the mini NCT poster decorating your wall.
“I think I would want it to be a solo song.” He tilts his head, quirking his eyebrows.
“A solo?” your voice perks.
“Yeah, I mean if that ever happens again. I feel like it would be refreshing compared to the concept that I currently have going on.” Mark motions with his hands.
“I agree. The duality of man,” you joke.
“And it’ll be like our secret special song or something. Only we would know that it’s about us,” He continues.
“Well, us and the rest of your bandmates would know,” you say.
“Right,” He smooths out the sleeve of his hoodie.
“I really like watching you perform, Mark.” you lean closer to your camera, watching the way Mark becomes bashful under your gaze.
“Thank you,” he whispers. His eyes remain locked on his keyboard as he scratched his forehead. He always got awkward when you complimented him.
“I’m really proud of you, Mark. Even if the company takes you for granted, I see the effort you put into everything, and all I can say is that I think you’re phenomenal. You’re so talented, Mark. Everything that you do leaves me in awe,” You continue.
Mark pauses for a moment, allowing your words to sink in, “I love you,” he replies.
“I love you too, Mark.” You smile.
“Do you wanna hear something else?” Mark asks, reaching for his guitar once again. You nod. You bring your knees to your chest, allowing your head to rest on them as you wait for him to start playing his next piece. You spent the next hour joking around, trying to come up with the most absurd lyrics as Mark strummed his guitar.
3:02 am
Your snores peppered Mark’s ears as he watched you through the computer screen. You’d fallen asleep accidentally about 30 minutes ago, but he didn’t have the heart to end the Facetime call because it meant he wouldn’t be able to see you again for a while. Mark placed his guitar on the floor before reaching for his phone. Your upper body was still in the frame as your head was leaning onto the desk. He could see the soft rise and fall of your shoulders through the pixelated screen. Mark always thought you were adorable when you slept. Your cheeks always puffed up and your mouth would twitch occasionally. Mark opened his camera app, laughing to himself as he zoomed in on your sleeping face. He snapped 3 photos before he started looking through them. Mark laughed again as he clicked on his favourite photo, making it your new contact photo. He sent the same photo as a text message to you, as a fun surprise for when you wake up. He closed his phone, opting to look at you once more. She looks peaceful, he thought to himself. The stress of school-work or exams didn’t matter to you when you were in slumber, and it made Mark’s heart swell. All he wanted was for you to be happy. Mark takes off his glasses, placing them down as he lays his head on his desk, mimicking your position.
“Good night,” he sighs, joining you in sleep.

“I’ve never seen him like this.”
Four boys sat at the back of their homeroom class, waiting for the bell that signaled everyone to move on to their next class. The students were given the last ten minutes of homeroom to use freely and talk amongst themselves or study. A majority of them were buzzing with excitement and spieling to each other about their plans for summer break. But amongst the large group there was one student whose mind was far from thinking about their summer plans. Mark Lee’s mind was only preoccupied with thoughts of the girl sitting in the seat two rows ahead and one seat over from him.
The girl that had taken free real estate in his mind for the past semester. From the moment he saw you walking in on the first day of school, he had known he liked you.
Now, usually Mark’s friends would describe him as many things—extroverted, driven, caring, helpful, confident. But when it came to you, the girl of his dreams, he was merely a fool. A bumbling, cowardly fool.
Despite his friends’ countless efforts to get him to talk to you, he always either refused or fumbled on the chances he got. It irked him, but he couldn’t help it. You made him too nervous.
“Do you think he’ll finally get the courage to do it?” Renjun asked, glancing over at Donghyuck.
His friend sighed, “I sure hope so. If I have to hear him groan and whine all summer about her I might kill him.”
Beside him, Jeno chuckled, “I just don’t understand what is taking him so long.”
“And why did he wait until the last day of school to decide to ask her out?” questioned Jaemin.
Donghyuck shrugged, “I guess he figures if she rejects him, enough time will pass over summer break that it won’t be as awkward next semester?”
The boys nodded in understanding, then Jeno added, “You know he said he bought that outfit just to ask her out? Said it would ‘give him extra confidence’.”
“Yeah, and we can see how well that’s working,” Jaemin snorted, making the three other boys laugh.
They continued to watch their friend who sat a few rows ahead of them. Mark’s seat was shaking from how quickly his foot was bouncing on the bar underneath it. His nervous thoughts were translating to his motor skills by now, making his body visibly anxious. He could feel a bead of sweat formulating under his brow. Why was he like this?
His brows furrowed as he stared down at the desk top under his arms. Think, Mark, he thought to himself. All you have to do is talk to her. Just ask her what she’s doing this summer. Ask her if she might want to hang out. But what if she says no? What if she laughs in your face? What if everyone overhears and laughs at you too? What if-
He shook his head, growing more and more frustrated as time passed. The clock on his phone was ticking. He only had seven more minutes left until class let out, and he wouldn’t see you again until August. He needed to move. Quickly.
His eyes carefully looked back up at you. You were writing down something in your notebook while the girl in front of you spoke to you. Every few seconds you would glance up at her to show you were listening. You nodded along to what she said and laughed when it was appropriate. You were so kind and considerate; Mark knew that much. Admittedly, he knew lots about you.
You were semi-popular. You weren’t on any of the athletic teams or in the big clubs, but you were friends with the people who were. You attended almost all of the after school festivities. Your grades were a big priority for you, and you didn’t seem to slack in any of your classes. You excelled in Biology. You had one of the most melodic laughs he had ever heard. You had the prettiest eyes he had ever seen. You usually volunteered to help the homeroom teacher clean up any materials between classes. You were kind enough to help Mark pick up his belongings when his crappy backpack zipper had broke and spilled everything onto the floor. If one day you showed up with a halo suspended above your head, he wouldn’t be in disbelief for even a moment. To him, you might as well have been an angel. A goddess even.
His chest rose and fell a couple times with his deep breaths. He flexed his fingers on the edge of his desk before pushing himself back in his seat and standing up. The students nearby glanced up at him before returning to their conversations. A sudden rush of adrenaline pushed him forward, moving his feet closer to your desk before stopping next to it. Your friend stopped mid-sentence to look up at him, and you followed suit. Those tantalizing eyes of yours peered into his soul, it felt like. Still, he cleared his throat and spoke.
“Sorry to interrupt. I just wanted to take a second to ask you something, _______.”
He waited for a response, but it never came. You stared at him, face completely blank. He stuttered trying to come up with his next words, but he shook his head and realized you didn’t answer because he never said anything. He never walked up to you. He never even got up out of his seat. He was so nervous that he was daydreaming. He checked the time on his phone again. Three minutes. Crap.
Come on, Lee. Stop being an idiot. Just do it.
Okay. No more stalling. No more being a coward.
One last, deep breath huffed out between his lips before he gently pushed his chair back and stood up. He willed his feet to bring him to the desk adjacent to yours. Luckily it was empty, so he sat himself in it, facing you. Your friend’s eyes gazed over at him, but she continued to speak as if he wasn’t there. You noticed him, doing a double take on him. His heart was pumping so fast he worried it might malfunction, but he told himself he wasn’t going to run this time. He wasn’t going to mess this up. He just needed to wait until you were free.
As soon as your friend finished talking, you looked back at him, “Did you need something, Mark?”
She knows my name. Well, of course she did. He had this class with you five days a week, every week, for the past eight months. But still, you knew his name.
“I- uh-“
No. No stuttering. Think, then talk.
“I was just wondering if you were going to be in town during the summer? I wanted to ask if you would like to maybe hang out during the break?”
The entire room went quiet. At least, it felt like it did. Maybe it was just the fact that he was holding his breath without realizing it. Either way, he felt dizzy.
“Yeah, I’ll be in town. I actually got a job at my parents’s convenience store down the street, so I’ll be there pretty much all summer,” you spoke with such a cadence that left him dazed. You were so entrancing.
He nodded, “That’s good! Maybe when you’re off, we could get some ice cream or something?”
“I’d like that,” you smiled, “I’m free tomorrow around three actually, if that works for you.”
Mark was half expecting to wake up from this daydream again and start the torturous cycle over. But this wasn’t a daydream. You were actually planning a date with him.
“Yeah, that’s perfect. I’ll see you tomorrow afternoon, then.”
Oh my God. Oh my God.
As he finished speaking the bell rang, jolting him. You stood up, grabbing your notebook and backpack. Your friend followed you as you filed out of the room with everyone else, and he watched you leave him there in awe. A hand clapping down on his shoulder startled him for a second time.
“So?” Donghyuck questioned him, the other boys surrounding him. Surprisingly, with all the eyes on him, he was finally able to relax for the first time in the last forty-five minutes.
“We’re getting ice cream tomorrow.”
“Finally,” Hyuck groaned at the same time that Renjun congratulated him.
“Was that so hard?” Jaemin mocked him.
“Did your new fit help, then?” Jeno added, earning an annoyed look from his older friend.
Just as the room was clearing out, there was the soft sound of footsteps re-entering. The boys glanced up to see you walking back into the room. Your eyes widened a little bit from all the attention on you. You spotted Mark still in the spot you left him, and you approached him with your notebook and pen still in hand.
“We never traded numbers,” you reminded him shyly. He had never seen you look so bashful before. You were usually so nonchalant.
“Oh! Yeah, uh, can I get a paper?” he pointed at the notebook in your grasp.
You nodded, ripping a page out of it. You tore the paper in half, handing him one side while you kept the other. You jotted your number down and then handed him the pen you used so he could do the same. When he was done, you both swapped papers. You were both very aware of the four boys watching the whole exchange. They were seemingly oblivious to the awkwardness they added to the situation.
“See you, Mark,” you nodded to him and his friends before heading back out of the room.
“They grow up so fast,” Jaemin fawned sarcastically, a hand on his chest. Renjun snorted as Mark nudged the boy’s arm, earning a yelp of pain from him.
“I can’t believe she actually agreed to go on a date with you,” Hyuck said.
“I can’t believe he didn’t stutter halfway through and come up with an excuse to bail,” Jaemin crossed his arms and laughed. Mark rolled his eyes at his friends as he picked up his backpack. The tardy bell was set to ring any second now. His friends followed closely behind him as they left the classroom.
“Hey, I’m proud of you, man. Just wish you would’ve done it sooner,” Renjun spoke earnestly, “I mean, if you think about it, you could’ve been dating her this entire semester.”
Mark sighed, “Yeah, I know.”
Internally, he was thankful that this happened the way it did. Donghyuck, Renjun, Jaemin, and Jeno were the closest friends he had, but they also were relentless with the way they teased him. At least during the summer, they were all usually too busy to get caught up in each other’s business. This way, he could go out with you without being picked on all the time for it. Besides, he was nervous that if they got too involved, they might run you off. He liked the idea of just having you to himself, and letting you get to know him. The real him. Not the Mark Lee that was quiet and timid and too scared to talk to you all semester.
The tardy bell rang, making the boys erupt in a chorus of gasps and groans.
“Dude, Dr. Park’s going to kill me for being late again!”

au: Happy birthday to my man, the love of my life Jae! And happy Valentine´s day lovelies <3
warnings: mentions of weed, to smoke a blunt with jae UGHHH my literal dream!
[11:50 pm] Jaehyun knew it was late. He knew that the second he'd step a foot on the door he was going to find nothing but darkness accompanied by the slight noise of the night and your sleeping figure. He knew his work ruined not only his Valentine’s Day but his birthday and the opportunity to spend it with his partner. He loved his job but it was moments like these where the idol life really took a toll on him.
He opened the door waiting to be received by the silent apartment but your standing figure alongside a living room filled with fluffy blankets, the coffee table filled with popcorn and snacks, the tv with the beginning of one of his favorite movies on pause and a gift on your hands was the first thing that he saw.
“What the fuck?” You smiled by seeing how surprised he actually was.
You knew you weren’t gonna be able to go out for Valentine’s Day because of his schedule, so you planned a movie marathon where you watched all of the movies he liked, which you usually didn’t watch because you’re not the biggest fan.
“What’s all this?” He dropped his bag on the floor and walked towards you. When he was finally in front of you his hands moved on his own, positioning themselves on your forearms since your hands were holding a big gift bag.
“Happy Valentine’s Day!” You said with the biggest smile which he mirrored. “And happy birthday!” You push the bag in front of him, the excitement was very evident in your eyes. “C’mon open it!”
Jaehyun opened the bag with such delicacy, he didn’t want to rip it so he can keep it as a little memento of this precious occasion. He gasped when he saw the content of the bag. A first edition of his favorite vinyl record, a new watch and several blunts, you must have known his stash was empty -he thanked the lord since he hated rolling them up-.
“No fucking way!” He said with the biggest smile on his face. “This is way too much, you didn’t have to do this.”
“Oh please, it was my pleasure.” He hugged you with such force it hurt a little bit you didn’t care. “You deserve nothing but the best Jae.”
“That must be why I have you as a partner.” You could feel your cheeks getting warm. “I got you something too.” He said after breaking the hug. “It’s not much and it’s small but I think you’ll like it.” He took out a little box out of his bag and gave it to you.
“Oh you didn’t have to Jae give me anything, it’s your birthday, not mine.” You admired the box. It was a deep navy blue, velvet, and a little heavy.
“It’s valentines tho, my baby deserves something.” You blushed even though he always calls you that, you still blush.
You opened the box and gasped at the contents of it. A beautiful pearl necklace lays inside the box with a little medal that has J+ your initial. It was so beautiful you couldn’t believe it.
“Jaehyun, oh my god.” He grabbed the necklace and put it on you. You could feel the brush of his fingers on your skin, the goosebumps followed no long after their touch. “I love it, thank you so much.” Your voice is soft but it was filled with gratitude and love.
“I love you baby.” And then he kissed your lips, those lips he adored so much.
“I love you too.”
“What about we light one of these up and start our movie marathon huh?” He already had the blunt and the lighter out, he was just waiting for you to give the green light.
“Sounds perfect.” You smiled and laughed at his excitement.

hi sorry to bother you. But could you by chance do a Jaemin or Jeno scenario where he asks his s/o to scratch his back because he really likes it? With extra fluff if possible 😅
Tumblr media
“Babe~” Jaemin called excitedly as he entered your shared apartment, announcing his arrival with a bright smile plastered on his face. The thought of you waiting for him and welcoming him with hugs and kisses had him giggling on his way home. However, his smile was replaced with a (cute) pout when he couldn’t find you anywhere in sight.
He made his way to your bedroom, carefully opening the door in case you were already sound asleep. It was past midnight anyway, he really couldn’t blame you.
“Babe?” he quietly called again as his head peeked behind the door before walking right in and gently closing it with a worried sigh.
There you were, typing away at your desk, back hunched, and your head bobbing lightly to the music on your earbuds, completely oblivious of his presence. He honestly would prefer to see you snoring the night away than see you working late again.
You were massaging your temples when you suddenly felt a huge pair of hands grab your shoulders and straighten your back. You froze in your seat, thinking a robber had come in, but immediately relaxed as soon as a familiar scent of perfume hit your nose. You quickly stood up and turned to face a smiling Na Jaemin.
“Jaemin!” you greeted with a big smile on your face and hugged him tightly, and Jaemin more than happily did the same.
“I’m home,” he said. “I missed you so much, baby,”
“I missed you too, and welcome home,” you said, your words coming out a bit muffled as you buried your face in his chest. The days he spent at the gym and eating healthily have definitely paid off, you thought.
Jaemin kissed the top of your head before (reluctantly) letting you go.
“Sorry, I didn’t notice you were already home. For a second I thought a robber had come in…” you quietly said as you removed your earbuds and placed them on your desk, “How was your day, baby?”
Jaemin gave you a sweet smile as he looked into your eyes and kissed you tenderly on the lips.
“I had such a long day, princess.” he sighed, fatigue evident in his eyes. “But don’t worry about me. I’m feeling much, much better now ‘cause you’re here,” he added, flashing another bright smile. You shook your head and pursed your lips in discontent.
“I’m really glad you’re home safe, but I’d like it if you could also tell me about how your day went...” you mumbled under your breath.
Jaemin let out a small chuckle, eyes soft as he curled a strand of your hair behind your ear.
“How about I take a quick shower first and then we’ll talk about it in bed, princess?”
You just slowly nodded out of consideration; he does deserve a relaxing, hot shower after such a long day. You then gestured to the desk behind you.
“I’m just gonna finish this up real quick,” you said.
Jaemin took a quick look at the computer screen before looking back at you. There was no way he was going to let you work until the sun came up.
“Is it urgent or can you finish it later?” he asked. You pursed your lips in thought and shook your head lightly with a smile.
“Nah, not really. It can wait a bit,” you answered. “I just thought it would be more efficient for me to do a little bit of work while I wait for you.”
Jaemin nodded in understanding, mouthing an ‘okay’. It was nearly the end of the month anyway, which meant you had double the amount of work to catch up on. Although he was never happy with seeing you working til daylight, he also understood how it was an important week for you. He motioned for you to go back to work before finally heading to the shower.
After doing his skincare in the bathroom, Jaemin happily made his way to the bedroom, letting out a satisfied exhale. He then opened the door to the bedroom quietly, and much to his delight, you were already lying in bed with your phone in your hand, back facing him while laughing at whatever video you were watching. His heart always warmed at the sight of you smiling and laughing, and so much more if he was the reason behind them.
His presence didn’t go unnoticed this time as you turned your body to the source of another familiar scent that enveloped the room. It was Jaemin’s body wash, the only brand he had been using ever since you gifted it to him on a random day.
“Did you take a good shower?” you asked after putting your phone away. Jaemin nodded with a satisfied grin. You then patted the empty space beside you, and Jaemin immediately climbed into bed and snuggled closer, locking you in place with his arm and leg on top of you.
You let out a giggle when Jaemin started playfully kissing you all over your face before landing a sweet peck on your lips.
“Have I told you I missed you today?” he asked, voice soft as he looked into your eyes lovingly. You moved your body to face him, looking him in the eyes with an equally loving gaze.
“Yeah, you did. But I don’t mind hearing it again,” you answered as you lightly brushed his soft lips with your index finger, looking at him expectantly. Jaemin gave you a small but adoring smile as he kissed the tip of your finger.
“I missed you today, my beautiful and wonderful y/n," he whispered before quickly adding, “I miss you each time we’re not together.”
What he said warmed your heart, and you couldn’t stop yourself from kissing him on the lips. Jaemin tightened his hold on you as he deepened the kiss, hoping you would feel all the love he had for you.
You broke away first before giving him a peck and lightly chuckling at a now-pouting Jaemin.
“So,” you started, pretending not to notice his still-pouting face. “How was your day?” you asked. Jaemin hummed in thought; he honestly didn’t know where to start.
“Do you want to be the little spoon while you tell me the details?” you suggested, and you swore you saw his face light up. Jaemin always liked being the little spoon, especially when he was feeling extra tired or stressed from work.
For Jaemin, you were his source of comfort. You were like a soft, warm blanket that keeps his entire being warm and happy on a cold, lonely night.
"Sweetie?" he softly called. You hummed in response, urging for him to continue. "If it's not too much to ask, would you please scratch my back, too?" he asked, eyes blinking with expectation under his long, pretty lashes.
"Of course, my baby. Anything for you," you answered, and the two of you quickly repositioned yourselves, with Jaemin resting his head on the crook of your neck. Your leg was now on top of him, arms wrapped around him as you started gently scratching his back.
“This really feels so nice. Thank you, baby,” Jaemin said as he let out a contented sigh. If there was one thing you could do to effectively relieve him from stress, it was to scratch his back until he fell asleep.
Jaemin had started talking until you finally heard the yawns in between. You alternated between scratching his back and gently patting his butt like a baby, and it didn’t take long before his words started to come out slurry before completely dozing off.
You couldn’t help but smile when you glanced down and saw him with a peaceful look on his face.
“I love you, Na Jaemin,” you whispered before placing a gentle kiss on top of his head and drifting off to sleep as well.
-end.
[a/n] to whoever sent this in: I'M SO SORRY this is so long overdue :') I hope you're still around! oh, and don't worry, u're not a bother to me at all please TT^TT <3 thanks for ur request!

It was all consensual… but it was a stupid mistake that teenager Jaehyun had made when fornicating with his now ex-girlfriend. When she found out that she was pregnant, thanks to him (even though it takes two to tango), she was utterly outraged. Jaehyun, on the other hand, was not as upset. Of course now he had more responsibilities than ever, but he was happy that the child was conceived, even at the young age he was and even if the baby was an accident. Jaehyun’s ex-girlfriend was moody the entire pregnancy and far on afterwards and she soon turned into the psycho ex he did not want her to be. Truly, he thought she would get some help and continue to be in their baby’s life, but she proved him otherwise. He never let her see their daughter after that scene, it wasn’t safe and he did not want his daughter to see her own mother, who was too unstable to stay in her daughter’s life and watch her grow up.
Only staying in their daughter's life for about eleven months, Jaehyun had enough of his ex-girlfriends bullshit and took full custody of their daughter, Jeong Haewon. Though his parents weren’t particularly happy with the decisions his hormones had made, they were not upset about their delightful granddaughter which came from their only child, Jeong Jaehyun.
It was unfortunate that he had to grow up so quickly, but he had to make a good living so that his daughter does not have to live the life he would never wish upon anyone, even his ex-girlfriend. He also did not want to rely on his parents forever, they had already done so much for him and Haewon. He decided to have unprotected sex and he will deal with the consequences of his actions. It was fortunate enough for him to realize this at an early age.
Haewon was an angel sent from Heaven. He loved her more than anything in the world, and she would always be the owner of his little teenage dad heart.

Twenty-year-old Jaehyun was in the bathroom, getting ready for his one o’clock interview for NEO Incorporated, humming along to some of the baby tunes he had put on to distract two-year-old Haewon for a measly ten minutes. He was running a little earlier than he had thought which helped him out in the end— since he wanted and needed this job very badly— and luckily, his parents were open that day to take care of his daughter (of course, they would drop all the things they were doing that day to take care of her when Jaehyun was being a responsible father.)
He was supposed to first, take a tour of the company, go through the different departments which he was able to choose from (he already knew he was going to interview for the performance directing team thanks to the NEO Inc. website and application), and lastly came the interview of which he was shitting bricks for. However, he did get to graduate college very early thanks to the college courses provided at his high school despite being a teen dad. So he had that in his favor.
Just as he was done fixing the tie to his suit, the apartment door knocked indicating that his parents were there and were ready to pick Haewon up and spend time with her for the day.
“Haewon! Grandma and grandpa are here!” he shouted from the doorway as she exclaimed in joy putting on her little lilac sweater with her socks on half of her foot. His mother had walked through the entryway and knelt down in front of her granddaughter as Jaehyun and his father had caught up with a bit of talking.
“Ah, my Haewonnie!” shared his just as excited mother as she took Haewon into a hug. Knowing that he would always have his parents' support would always be the highlight of his dad life.
After chit-chatting for a mere five minutes, Jaehyun’s parents and daughter walked out the door as he looked in the mirror once more before putting on his shoes and walking towards his car which was parked in the garage. The company was not far from his home, both located in the heart of the hustle and bustle of the city in Seoul. Though he may not have lived that far from the company, the traffic was beyond compare and he kept finding himself constantly looking at the clock. Of course, he didn’t want to be late and fuck the whole thing up before it even started.
Luckily for him, it seemed as though some sort of God had listened because the rest of the ride to NEO Inc. went fairly smoothly. However he did sit in his car for a few extra minutes to calm down his beating heart and calm down the paranoia that comes along with parenthood. Haewon was in good hands and hopefully he would be too.
As he walked into the lobby of the company he hoped to work at, he was faced with the interns taking their fair share of the tour. One intern in particular had caught his eye but he had thought nothing of it. Jeong Jaehyun found many different people attractive at many different times, even if it was during an important time like this. But that didn’t mean anything.
Or so he thought.
°•. ✿ .•°
It was a whirlwind of a morning for twenty-two-year-old Jaehyun and four-year-old Haewon. Both of these Jeong’s had woken up on the later side that morning and were now in a rush to complete their morning routines before they were off to work and school.
It was only November and that indicated Haewon’s third month into her little kindergarten class (technically it was sort of a pre-school.) Just the thought of Haewon already attending school made his heart completely shatter. But now was not the time to think about that since they both woke up a few minutes too late and now everything was out of shape.
Jaehyun was in the middle of trying to tie his little daughter's hair while she was brushing her teeth with his tie half done when he got a call from none other than his best co-worker: you. He put his phone on speaker mode so that he didn’t have to constantly hold his phone in his already busy hands.
“Hey, you’re not here yet? Is anything wrong? Did something happen to Haewon?” You bombarded him with questions he can’t fully comprehend at the moment.
You’d actually never met the little girl, you’ve only been told stories by her admirable father. Jaehyun was an expert in child care by now.
“No, I'm sorry. Haewon and I woke up a bit late today and we’re kinda rushing. It’s no worries but we’re just trying to hurry before the both of us are late,” he tried to explain to you after he finished tying her hair and was getting ready to re-do his tie.
“Oh okay. Do you want me to get you a coffee? I can just leave it by your desk.” You were a complete lifesaver.
He gasped out, “Yes please, it’d be very much appreciated.”
“Of course, your usual, right?”
“Yes. Thank you so much Y/N. I owe you.” He finished doing up his tie and walked out into the living room where both he and his daughter were trying to put on their socks.
“No, don't worry about it. Tell Haewon I said hi.”
“Hi Y/N!” She exclaimed with the mention of her name.
Haewon was also no foe to you. Although the two of you have never met in person, Jaehyun had spoken of you to his daughter a number of times. And his daughter was incredibly intelligent at only the age of four so for her it was easy to say that she liked you without even having to meet you. Which he was thankful for, as Haewon had admitted her feelings about you to her father (even though the two of you had only spoken through the phone.)
“Hi Haewonnie! How’s school so far?” You started a conversation with the little girl.
Jaehyun was glad that you had distracted her so that he could finish getting ready and help Haewon get ready and pack her lunch for the day.
“Alright, I’ll be there in a few. I just need to drop off Haewon and I’ll be there.”
“No worries, take your time. Bye Haewon!” You bid goodbye to the little family. To which the both of them said goodbye and soon they were on their way to start their day.
The two of you started off as barely co-workers. You and Jaehyun were two of the final interns that passed the exams and interviews that NEO Inc. presented. And it was just easy for the two of you to get along.
Many of your other co-workers had seen Jaehyun as eye-candy, which was just a part of human life. And although he was beyond flattered that so many people had found him attractive, it's not what he had in mind when he started working.
It also didn’t help the fact that he was a single father that was enamored by his daughter. He always put her needs before his and it awed the people he shared those moments to. Including you.
Jaehyun had always kept a picture of his daughter on his desk. She took up almost all of his social life but he wouldn’t have had it any other way.
Of course, after a year or so of being employed in the company, he started to finally date around, being stable enough to hire a babysitter or having a babysitter open to watch his daughter. Surprise, surprise, that babysitter was you (sometimes.)
Now, you never minded that Jaehyun took some of his free time to go off and date around or even have a couple one night stands— you never really knew what he did but you knew he needed a breather here and there. He was human and he was a single father. He needed the break sometimes and you were there to watch his daughter whenever you were free. He would forever be thankful to have you by his side. And luckily he trusted you enough around his daughter (not that you would have done anything bad with her.)
It was until one fateful night when he came home a little later than usual. Yet at the same time, a little sadder than usual.
“Hey. Anything wrong?” You asked, immediately sensing the tension he carried all the way home from who knows where.
“I’m fine. Date just didn’t go as planned. How was Haewon? I’m sorry I came home later than what I said,” he rambled. He told you all about how he was ready for Haewon to meet the one he thought he was going to bring home. Things kind of escalated at the restaurant they were at and were at the brink of hooking up until she saw the home screen of Jaehyun's phone. She was confused and asked about the girl in the photo. And immediately, it ticked off his father's senses and he knew this wasn’t going to work out. Like at all.
“No, don't worry about it. People are shitty. But she was fine. She was great, like always. Wouldn’t stop talking about you but when does she ever not talk about you.” You joked with him. He laughed, enjoying the fact that his daughter loved him almost as much as he loved her.
“I think I’m gonna pause on my love life for a while. I haven’t been in the game since I had Haewon and I think it’d be best to let things happen to me naturally. And if it doesn’t, that’s also okay. I’m fine with staying a single dad,” he explained to you although you never pushed him to say or admit anything to you.
You and Jaehyun were friends. That’s it. Buds, even. So you found it kind of useless for him to explain his clearly complicated love life to someone he met at work a year ago. But then again, he wouldn’t have been on that date and realized all the things that were wrong with other people if he didn’t meet you.
You. You. You. Although Jaehyun was the single father, it seemed as though his life also revolved around you. He’s only known you for a year, yes, but this was the closest relationship he had ever had since having his baby.
And then it finally clicked.

Oh, darlin', there's not much that you can say
To stop me from fallin' in like I am
If you were to tell the you from three years ago that you’d be here, you would call bullshit on everything. Currently, you were sitting at a dinner table on the pier with the Jeong’s: Jeong Jaehyun followed by Jeong Haewon.
Almost two years ago you quit your job at NEO Inc. and now you’re working full time as a marketing manager under Dreamlab Management. And in those two years, you and Jaehyun had kept in contact quite often. It was only a matter of time before feelings erupted from either of your hearts and now, here you were. You and Jaehyun had now been dating for a little bit over a year and it’s been the best year you’ve ever experienced with the family.
“Oh! Look Haewon!” you pointed to the seven-year-old girl. On the dock, there was a seagull eating the leftovers from the people who were enjoying their dinner— yet wasting their food— outside.
Without thinking, Haewon took a piece of the bread and threw it onto the dock, in hopes to see the seagull a bit closer. It worked. Until you interrupted her little Disney princess moment.
“Haewon don’t do that. You’ll attract them and soon we’ll be swarmed by a flock of seagulls,” you warned her.
Jaehyun watched as she sat on your lap looking toward the ocean. You were so good with children and you were incredible with Haewon. He made the right decision to continue a potential life with you. And with no doubt in his mind, he knew you would be there for him and Haewon until the day you die. And she wasn’t even your child.
Without much hesitation, Jaehyun booked a month's worth of an airbnb on Jeju Island for a getaway from the city and a more intimate place for the three of you to bond together (even though the three of you had bonded over the many courses of years you’d known each other.) This was the second day you’d been here and although you appreciated him spending his time to book a mini vacation, you declined, not wanting him to spend that long of a vacation and that much of his money for a simple trip down south. But to him, he didn’t care at all. He would spend countless amounts of money on the two girls that impacted his life the most. Of course, he was just blinded by love. But what he felt was more than love, especially watching the two of you.
So, as he watched you spend time with his daughter, and act protective of her, his love was only quintupled. And that was the thing. You were incredibly protective over Haewon, but you never tried to over-step and act like her straight-up mother. That was just too much. You knew what you were doing and you knew Jaehyun knew what you were doing. You weren’t going to act as if she was your own daughter and be all overbearing, but you knew the limitations and the rules which Jaehyun followed regarding his daughter. And you respected both Jaehyun and Haewon. Again, not as a mother or a wife, but as a best friend that knew the boundaries. Which, obviously, you weren’t a best friend to Jaehyun but you were a best friend to Haewon, and he appreciated that you didn’t try to substitute yourself as her mother or even a motherly figure. It was a little too soon for that, right?
With his chin resting on his palm, he watched the two of his most important girls giggling and playing, looking at the scenery before you and making sure Haewon ate her food. A loud chuckle escaped his lips when watching the two of you, which made you turn to him.
“What are you laughing at, mister?” You raised a brow before whispering something in Haewon’s ear.
“Dad, are you gonna eat? Or are you gonna stare at us all day?” Haewon cheekily said, which only made him smile brighter.
Slowly, he lifted his chin from his palm and reached over the table to grab her tiny hand.
“Of course I’m gonna eat, baby. I’m just admiring the life that I have right now.” He playfully winked at her before moving his eyes toward you, who was softly smiling at the way he simply talked to Haewon.
“And you,” he also raised his eyebrows, “you are the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”
“Daddy! You said that about me!” The girl whined.
You laughed and pushed his hand away from her to which he dramatically put his hand on his chest, gasping all the while.
“Well, guess what dad? Y/N’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me too!” She cheered, turning to you and taking your face in her hands, squishing your cheeks while you laughed aloud.
“No fair! She was mine first.”
“Nuh-uh!” She stuck her tongue out and hid her face in your chest.
“Yes-uh!”
God, you could never get enough of these two.
It was now nine p.m. and Haewon was in the shower and getting ready for bed. As she sang some of her favorite tunes, you and Jaehyun sat on the sofa in the living room listening to the beautiful girl sing her heart out through the walls.
The sound of her voice made the two of you laugh as you peered out onto the patio which overlooked the ocean, the moon, and the stars.
“You are so amazing,” he complimented.
You laughed and replied, “I know. You don’t have to tell me.”
Playfully, he hit your thigh as you yelped and latched onto his arm, refraining him from doing it again. “I was joking, I'm sorry!” You shouted in mercy.
He just gave you the sweetest smile and carefully rubbed the stinging skin of your thigh of which he slapped. He hit you lightly, but it caught you off guard.
“I’m being serious, though. You’re so good with Haewon and she literally loves you to the moon and back. I’m really grateful you’re here with us…” he started. “Or else she and I would be a lost cause.”
You snicker and reply, “Of course Jae. Womanly instincts, I guess.” You laughed, “I’ll always be here for you and Haewon. Always have been.” You looked over to the man who was sitting to your left.
With each second, the two of you inched closer and closer. Lips begin to magnet toward each other until the bathroom door is opened and Haewon’s footsteps echo in the open concept house.
“Are you guys watching a movie without me?!” Exclaimed Haewon. She squeezed herself in between the two of you, passing the towel to her father and grabbed the remote from the table.
Willingly, Jaehyun took the towel in his hands and started to help dry his daughter's wet hair while you took the remote from Haewon’s hand and turned on the TV for her, putting on ‘The Little Mermaid.’ It was fitting to show that movie considering where the three of you were at that moment.
After the scene where Ariel goes up to the surface to talk to her seagull friend, Scuttle, Jaehyun lets you shower first.
Once you finished your shower, it was now Jaehyun’s turn to wash up and it was your turn to watch the movie with Haewon. With your hair up in a towel to help dry it faster, you cuddle with Haewon on the couch. She was so close to calling it a night and so were you.
When Jaehyun is finished with his shower, and is also rubbing his towel in his hair, he finds the two of his princesses on the couch, knocked out cold. He endearingly smiled before picking up Haewon and carefully placing her in one of the bedrooms she’s been staying in since you came to Jeju Island two days ago. Then, he walked back into the living room and tried to squeeze himself in between your arms where Haewon was previously laying.
With the sudden movement; as well as the dip in the sofa, you slowly stir awake to be met with the most handsome face you’ve ever seen in your life. Jaehyun smiles at this as you stretch your limbs and yawn, wrapping your arms around his broad shoulders as he now rested against your chest.
“How long was I out for?” You asked.
“Hmm, maybe fifteen minutes? Cmon now, let’s get you to bed. We have a big day tomorrow,” he carried you to the master bedroom, ready to get a good night's rest.
He placed you down in bed and removed the towel from your head. But for some reason he just couldn’t go to sleep. All he wanted to do was cherish the moments he had with Haewon and with you. Maybe this trip was what he needed.
As he took in as much as he could of you in the moonlight, he just couldn’t fathom the fact that he was head over heels with you. He couldn’t fathom the fact that Haewon seemed to like you more than him, her own father. But he wouldn’t have had it any other way, because if he was Haewon, he would like you more too. Or maybe he was biased. Maybe they were both biased. No wonder why Haewon was his child. She was an exact copy of him. From the little accent in the way she talks to the dimples that reside on either side of her cheeks as she smiles.
He didn’t want this moment to go away. He didn't want you to go away. Even though he knows you wouldn’t and couldn’t.
Before he was even aware of his feelings, they were always sort of there for you. In the tiniest of ways he cared, the feelings of love were always present within his heart. Especially for you. Haewon was his number one girl. But you were coming in hot— from the moment your eyes lit up whenever he brought up his daughter.
He was already this deep and he didn’t know what he would do without you. He didn't know what Haewon would do without you. Although he and Haewon already had a close relationship as it is, he felt as though you were the glue to the father-daughter relationship he had with her. He was completely and utterly thankful that you stumbled upon his life because you truly were the best fit for his family. His heart wrenched at the thought of growing old and having a family with you, even if it was too early to have those thoughts.
As he watched you twitch your eyebrows in your sleep, he knew that he was down-bad. Nothing would ever stop the overflowing amount of emotions that filled his heart when even just a picture of you with Haewon flashed in his mind.
Nothing would ever stop him from loving you wholeheartedly.

Oh, darlin', even waves can't wash away
Our names in the sand, never could, never can
It had been a few days since the overwhelming thoughts he had of you. Overwhelming not in a bad way, but overwhelming in the best way.
The plan was to go to the beach (which was just a walking distance from the back patio door.) It was a little too late though. In the middle of Haewon writing her name, her dad’s name— aka dad— and your name, thunder rumbled through the sky and you and Jaehyun knew that it was time to return back into the house soon.
It was only a matter of time before the rain started pouring on the three of you. Rushing to go inside, Haewon whined and threw the tiniest tantrum. She wanted to be out in the rain, playing in the sand.
“Haewonnie, if you want to go outside you can. But you’re going to get sick and as of right now, we can’t afford that. Would you really want to get sick when your dad planned for us a special vacation for a month?” You tried to reason with her.
And understanding your reasoning, Haewon agreed with you and apologized for whining, “I’m sorry Y/N. I didn’t mean to. I know you want me to be safe.”
You smiled at her and patted down her hair before saying, “Don’t just apologize to me, baby. Apologize to your daddy too. He deserves it more than me right now, okay?”
You were kneeling down to be the same size as her and Jaehyun watched the interaction with you and Haewon go down. He watched with his arms crossed and his dimples pressing hard into his face. He was so in love with you. Although you weren’t a mother and didn’t know the struggles of motherhood (let alone being pregnant), you were the greatest female figure he wanted Haewon to have.
His daughter rubbed her eyes as he knelt down in the same position as you did. He took her small face in his hands and helped her wipe whatever was on her face off of it, softly smiling at the human being he created.
“I’m sorry daddy. I didn’t mean to get upset with you and Y/N. I know you did a lot to plan this trip for us,” she sniffled, the emotions getting to her heart, almost sad that her dad could be upset at her for whining earlier despite the utterly angelic smile on his face as she apologized to him.
He patted her hair down as well, with his right hand as he kept his left hand on her face, rubbing her cheek.
“It’s okay, baby. I know you want to be outside but it’s a little too dangerous. For now we can stay inside and watch movies, okay?” He said in the softest voice. His heart melted at the sight of his daughter.
“Okay. I’m sorry.” She said one last time before Jaehyun kissed her on her forehead and picked her up to sit on the kitchen island, you following right behind, your heart softening at the duo.
“It’s okay, my love. You can stop apologizing now, yeah? Y/N and I appreciate your apology, don’t we?” He looked over his shoulder to see you, reaching out his arm for you to grab. You walked closer to the pair and Jaehyun wrapped his arm around your waist, looking at you lovingly as you talked to his child.
“Of course I do, my love,” you pushed a piece of hair out of her face. “Now, let’s cook up some dinner shall we? I bet you’re hungry.”
Jaehyun wiped the tear that fell from her eye as he smiled fondly at Haewon.
“Don’t cry, baby. Why are you crying, my love?” The pitch in his voice, slightly higher than before.
Instead of answering him, she let go of the sobs she had been holding in. The scene made you pout unconsciously. She was just too cute to handle. And Jaehyun was such a good father.
Picking her up again, Jaehyun carried her in his arms as she sobbed into his shoulder while he rubbed her back up and down. Just watching the whole thing made you want to cry. They were both so gentle toward each other it made your legs weak.
Haewon sobbed some more as Jaehyun cupped the back of her head with his left hand. He mouthed ‘let’s go to the room’ to you, assuming to help him calm her down. You nodded and followed him to Haewon’s room for the time being.
He sat down on the bed with his back resting against the headboard, you following him and doing the same. You sat on his left, the same side where Haewon was hiding.
Carefully, Jaehyun detached his daughter from his shoulder as he made her look into his eyes. Her nose was red and her eyes were slightly puffy. He looked at her with the softest eyes you had ever seen as he rested both of his hands on her face, continuing to wipe the tears that stained her chubby cheeks.
“I love you okay?” He said, kissing her forehead once more. “Y/N loves you too. We’re not mad at you, baby. I want you to know that. I don’t want you crying anymore.” He pushed her messy hair away from her face and behind her ears.
The little girl nodded, still hiccuping from the sobs. “I love you too, daddy. I’ll stop crying now. I’m a big girl.”
The father ‘awh’s’ at his child before wrapping his arms around her once more and playfully rocking her back and forth in his arms, making her giggle loud enough for you to hear.
“My poor baby.” He lets his left arm go free as he wraps it around your body, pulling you closer to him. You lean onto his left shoulder as Haewon still hides her face in the middle of his chest.
His two babies.
Soon enough Haewon is out for a nap and you and Jaehyun are in the living room with the TV quietly playing Lilo and Stitch. It was Haewon’s favorite Disney movie. It was yours as well. So, naturally, Jaehyun had to live with it constantly on replay but for his girls he would do anything. The meaning behind the movie was beautiful as well, it reminded him of his family, and how important it was to him.
Turning his head from the TV to you, he embraced you in his grasp with his head resting between your chin and shoulder. Slowly and softly he kisses your neck, not in a sexual way at all. Just in a ‘I’m grateful to have you’ kind of way.
“Thank you so much for being there for Haewon. And being a role model for her to look up to,” he breathed out, showing his face to you again.
You played with the hair at the back of his neck, slightly laughing, “You don’t have to thank me. You know I’d be here for Haewon. And that I care for her as if she was my own. You know that I care about you too. So, so much. You’re an amazing partner but you’re an even more amazing father.”
Jaehyun kissed you on the forehead, “Should we just order takeout for dinner then?”
“Of course we can. Order something Haewon is able to eat,” you remind him. Last time he ordered food and Haewon didn’t eat any of it because she didn’t like it.
He laughed, “Yes, I know, love. Thank you.”
The three of you had dinner quite early. It was five p.m. and the rain had stopped for a while, so Jaehyun suggested eating outside on the patio and then Haewon could play in the sand again. Of course Haewon agreed to eat outside. She loved nature. She loved the beach. Especially out in the city, there aren’t many beaches to resort to, so she loved staying in Jeju.
When she was finished with her food she went back to the sand where she was previously playing before the storm had started. Although it was a harsh storm, it was a fairly quick one that went away in twenty minutes.
“Look! Our names are still in the sand!” She pointed out with the stick in her hand. “Dad! Y/N! Come look!” And she was right.
It was weird to see that after a bad storm, the imprints of your names were still in the sand.
Subconsciously, Jaehyun smiled. It seemed as if the beach, or rather the storm, knew that nothing could ever wash away the way he feels about the people he surrounded himself the most with.

Oh, darlin', there's no word that can describe
The way that I feel, tonight
The Jeju trip that Jaehyun had planned was soon coming to an end and for tonight he planned a small cookout in the back of the airbnb. He made you and Haewon stay home while he went out and bought all of the necessities he needed for the barbecue. He wanted to surprise you both with the cookout but he also bought some sparklers and glow sticks for when the dark cascaded the sky. Jaehyun had also bought some film for the polaroid he brought on the trip (all the film he brought was done by the time seven days passed.)
By the time he got back, the sun was slowly starting to set. You and Haewon helped him carry the groceries as he got the grill ready.
“Dad! You bought sparklers?!” Said Haewon full of excitement. He knew she would love the sparklers. When he saw them in the store, he immediately thought of his daughter so he just had to buy them.
“I did, my love. We can light them up later, when it gets darker,” he replied to her, seasoning all of the meat in the bowl.
The little girl just nodded enthusiastically as she went to play in the sand not far from where you were sitting. You could never get enough of this little family.
You watched Haewon as she made continuous sand castles, with a smile etched on your face. Jaehyun noticed and it made him smile.
“You love her so much, don’t you?” He interrupted the sound of the waves crashing against the shore.
You laughed and looked over to him cooking the meat.
“I do. She’s such a beautiful and intelligent little girl. You raised her so well, Jae. I’m so proud of you.” His eyes appeared doe-like. Like all the universes that could fit in his eyes, were for you and his daughter.
Sure, he’s been told that he raised her well and that people are proud of him for raising a baby girl as a single father, but it just sounds and feels so incredibly different when those words escape your lips. He was so infatuated with you it almost hurt.
“I love you so much,” he let out. It made you smile even more.
“I love you too, you dork.” He laughed at the joke you made. He was a dork. But he was your dork. God, that was such a dorky thing to say.
“Okay! Food is ready. Girls come eat!” He called out to where you and Haewon were near the water. She said she was getting hot and wanted to play in the ocean. With the approval her father gave, you followed her to the water as she played and splashed all she wanted.
Jaehyun grabbed a towel for you and Haewon as he finished setting the table, grabbing a lighter from inside so that the sparklers would be ready to go. And grabbing the camera he had already refilled with the film.
It was now a bit darker than it had been before, so it was a bit chillier compared to when Jaehyun first started grilling. Haewon was a bit cold and the shivering just proved that she was ready to call the beach day a success.
“Come here, my love. Are you cold?” He reached out his arm toward Haewon, wanting her to sit on his lap to try and warm her up as she ate.
The little girl nodded and waddled to her father before climbing into his lap and sinking into the warmth he gave off. Jaehyun would do anything for her.
“Make sure to eat it all, baby. You want to have enough energy to play tomorrow, right? It is our last day here tomorrow,” he informed her.
“I will dad, don’t worry. Y/N, make sure you eat a lot too, okay! We can play together on the beach again tomorrow before we leave!” She looked at you with her cheeks stuffed with meat, rice, and a bit of veggies.
You covered your mouth as you laughed at the words the little girl said. “Of course I will. I will eat this any day if that means I get to play with you!”
Haewon just laughed, digging her baby chopsticks in the rice to put in her mouth.
The rest of dinner was filled with just talking between the father and daughter pair. You just sat across from them, smiling ever so lightly at the relationship that they had, not wanting to ruin the moment you would for sure keep in your mind as a memory forever.
This time, you were the one to chuckle at the pair before they laid their eyes on you, hearing the sound that escaped your mouth.
“What’s wrong, Y/N?” Haewon asked ever so gently, leaning back against her dad’s chest. Jaehyun looked up as well, the look of pure love coated over his features.
“Nothings wrong, baby. You two just look irresistible together. Here, let me take a picture of you two. For the memories.” You grabbed the polaroid on the side table and motioned for them to smile as you took the photo.
The picture was perfect. Both Jeong’s smiled brightly as they showcased the dimples that they shared on their cheeks. They were the cutest things to ever exist.
After the polaroid had some time to set, you showed the picture to Haewon as she giggled and showed the picture to her dad. He took the polaroid from her hands as he admired it. His daughter was the most beautiful little thing.
“Dad, we look so cute!” She squealed, taking the picture again, not getting enough of her and her father.
“We do, angel. You’re the cutest thing on planet Earth,” he squeezed her against him, afraid this moment was only a part of his dreams and he was going to wake up with no you and no Haewon.
“Daddy!” She said as he laughed and blew raspberries into her neck and tickled her.
Quickly, you took out the camera again and snapped another picture. A candid. They were always the best kinds of pictures.
With the sound from the camera, as well as the flash that covered them, they stopped what they were doing and looked over to you. You took the polaroid out from the camera and waited for it to dry.
“I’m gonna keep this one.” You said. Jaehyun’s smile widened as Haewon begged to at least see the picture once it’s completed setting.
Haewon was laughing at the candid picture you took of them and showed it off to her dad once more. He was happy— beyond happy— to have someone by his side to witness the amount of love he carried for the child.
“Okay, my two girls, let’s get the sparklers going and call it a night!”
Haewon cheered, climbing out of her dad's lap to the chair where he set down the sparklers in the first place. You followed her as Jaehyun grabbed the lighter. She was so excited to light them, but being the good girl that she was, waited for the ‘okay’ from either her father or you.
As she stood by the chair, her vision only focused on the box of sparklers, you grabbed it and opened it for her, taking one out and putting it in her hand.
Jaehyun carefully put the fire from the lighter on the sparkler stick. “Be careful, my love. I don’t want you to get burned.”
“I’m okay, dad,” she replied.
You got two out for you and Jaehyun as he lit up his daughter's sparkler. He took one from your hand and lit yours before he lit his. All three of you were playing with the explosion of light as the stars now covered the sky. Haewon screamed and cheered, the sparklers and her family giving her the extra serotonin boost.
Haewon’s went out first, but she waited until yours and Jaehyun’s went out before she asked her dad to light up another one. He knew what she wanted and lit hers up before lighting you another one.
Quickly, as you and Haewon were playing and writing names with the sparklers, he caught a picture of you two on the polaroid. Haewon laughed the most boisterous laugh as she waved the stick in the air. He was so glad she was having such a great time.
“Okay one more and we gotta go inside and all shower,” he informed. His daughter nodded her head as you got out another stick for her.
This time, though, you were on your knees next to her, admiring the pretty sparks the sparklers created. Haewon was beyond jovial with her life right now and the second picture that Jaehyun took proved that. Another candid.
He took the picture out and smiled at it, even though it hadn’t set yet.
“I’m keeping this one.”
But, he actually lit up one more for Haewon and you, the girl claiming she wanted a picture of you and her with the sparklers as well. When the picture came out, and the fire went out, she took the picture out of Jaehyun’s hand.
“Thank you daddy! We look so pretty in this, look Y/N!” She showed you.
God, the amount of things Jaehyun wanted to say just by looking at the two of you was absurd. But he wouldn’t even have the words to help him comprehend what he wanted to say. He stayed quiet as he watched his two girls, but his mind was going in directions he couldn’t even fathom.
Love was too vague of a word to describe the feeling that overtook him that night.

Oh, darlin', I would walk that broken road
Time and time again if it led me to your hello
It was the following morning and the three of you woke up bright and early to enjoy a couple hours by the beach and then off to the airport to go back to the hustle and bustle of the city.
You were cutting up some leftover fruit from the fridge as the two Jeong’s played on the beach. You could hear their laughter from the kitchen and you subconsciously smiled, their laughter was your favorite sound.
You finished cutting up the fruit and took the bowl outside, not forgetting to put the little fruit forks in the bowl for the three of you. As they saw you walking outside with the bowl, the two of them ran toward you, seeing who could get to you first. Haewon won, and Jaehyun was pouty.
“I won! I won! I’m Y/N’s favorite!” She repeated to her father, taking the fork with a piece of watermelon and placing it in her mouth.
Jaehyun slumped in the chair, pouting. He also took a fork from the bowl and picked up a strawberry.
“No, fair baby. You cheated. Plus I’m Y/N’s favorite. Everyone knows that,” he sneakily messes with her. He knows the ways to get her upset. They just constantly fight over you.
They fought again. Betting to see which Jeong loved you more. Your heart swelled at the family.
“Okay enough you two! You’re both my favorite people ever! I can't choose,” you laughed, petting down Haewon’s hair.
“Yes you can, my love,” said Jaehyun to your left, picking up a fruit from the bowl and placing it in front of you, motioning you to eat it as he fed you.
His words made Haewon whine again. She will never back down from her father because, well, that’s her father.
“Choose me Y/N!” She exclaimed, raising her hand while jumping up and down.
“Okay, relax little thing! You’re my favo-” Jaehyun stopped you mid-sentence, acting as if you shot him through the heart.
“N-no… I’m….. h-h-her… f-fav-orite.”
Haewon laughs at her dad, apologizing to him that you chose her over him.
“It’s just the truth, dad. It’s okay to not be Y/N’s favorite,” she boasted.
Jaehyun was fully lying in the chair with his tongue stuck out. But then he got up and picked her up, spinning her around to get back at her. She screamed and laughed to her heart's content.
When it was time to finally leave, you and Jaehyun packed up the car as Haewon sat patiently waiting for you.
You put the last of your luggage in the trunk and closed the trunk door, ready to sit in the passenger side until Jaehyun stops you with his hand wrapped around your wrist.
You looked up at him to ask him what was the matter but all you could see in his eyes were the words ‘I adore you’ written all over them.
“What’s wrong, my love?” You asked as he unwrapped his gentle hold on your wrist.
“Thank you so much for this. I appreciate you more than you could ever know,” he reached up to rub his thumb against your right cheek.
“But why are you thanking me?” You laughed, “I love you too. More than words can ever express. But I think you need help.”
He smiled cheekily as he captured your lips with his. It was brief yet his lips lingered. It was soft yet held so much meaning.
“Maybe I do,” he finished just as Haewon rolled down the window and asked what was taking the two of you so long.
As Jaehyun helped his two girls board the plane to go back home, he had so much time to think about his life and what it had become.
You and Haewon were immediately knocked out in the plane seat as Jaehyun stayed awake. Replaying his favorite moments from the trip to Jeju, horrified that it was actually over and he had to go back to reality.
But he realized that the trip to Jeju solidified his feelings towards you and nothing will ever change that. You were an amazing person to travel with, especially with his daughter by your side. You were slowly clouding his brain and now the only people he could ever think about were his daughter and you.
You were staying over at the Jeong's residence for the next couple of days as you slowly got back to your routines of work and school. Haewon was beyond eager for you to sleep over the house for a couple nights. She absolutely adored the way you read her bedtime stories and tucked her in. She told you not to tell her dad, but she said that you were so much better at wishing her a good night than her father. To which you laughed and agreed.
The flight back home only took a little over an hour but the three of you were entirely exhausted. Once Jaehyun opened the door to his home, all of the luggage was pushed to the side as you all took off your shoes and went into the bedroom.
Haewon said she wanted to sleep with the two of you so you let her sleep in between you and Jaehyun, although he says that Haewon is a wild sleeper and should sleep in her own bed. But he wasn’t complaining, he loved getting the cuddles from his daughter but hated the occasional kicks she would give him in places where the sun doesn't shine.
The three of you slept peacefully and soundly as the hours passed by.
Jaehyun was the first person to wake up. The sun was slowly setting but the golden light that shone through the room painted yours and Haewon’s faces so perfectly. And, he could never get over it, but he thanked all of his lucky stars for granting him someone like you.
He hated that you had to see him when he was dating around and he hated coming home with a broken heart. But everything happens for a reason and maybe him going on those dates were the best thing that’s ever happened to him. Because if he didn’t go on those dates, who knows where he would be, romantically, right now.
Right now, all he wants to do is cherish every little thing in his life. He wanted to cherish you and most importantly, he wanted to cherish Haewon. Especially since she never had the mother she deserved. But he’s so immensely grateful that she has you, who was one thousand times better than her biological mother.
Though his journey was incredibly tough, he would do it again a million times if it meant that he would still find you. If it meant that his heart longed for yours. If it meant that it led him to your hello.

You are my everything, I'd give up everything
The Jeong's residence was lacking in the food department, Jaehyun found out the following morning. Haewon was still groggy but she was even more groggy since she was hungry. She was hangry but there was absolutely no good food left in the fridge or pantry. Which led to a full grocery trip with the three of you.
Jaehyun had put her in the stroller to sit in while the two of you went grocery shopping. At first, Jaehyun was strolling her but she was getting antsy and begged her father for you to stroll her instead. And all went well for a little while until she started whining some more, claiming she wanted some sweets. Jaehyun had enough of her whining and carried her in his arms.
“Dad!! I want candy!” She complained as you passed the candy section.
He holds the back of her head as he mumbles against the crown of her head, “Stop whining right now. We’ll get you candy soon but if you’re a bad girl then you won’t get any candy.”
Haewon was incredibly hangry and her fathers words only worsened her mood. She cried even louder and squirmed in her dad's arms.
You looked behind you as you stopped strolling the cart, slightly laughing at the man and his daughter. He locked his gaze with you and sighed, not getting Haewon to stay still for the next thirty minutes. You opened your arms and he passed his daughter over to you.
This time, Jaehyun was the one in front of you while strolling the cart and you were holding the agitated Haewon in your arms.
“Y/N, I want candy,” she held your cheeks in her hand, trying to give you the best puppy-dog eyes.
You laughed, “Little thing. If you’re going to yell at your daddy and cause a ruckus in the market your candy’s gonna have to wait. We just got back from Jeju, right?” She nodded.
“Okay, and you were a good girl in Jeju, right?” She nodded once again.
“So you need to cooperate with your dad and with me. We’ll get you fed and we’ll get you your candy but you have to respect our grocery trips, okay? We’re all hangry right now.”
Jaehyun smiled in front of you, listening to the conversation you were having with his daughter. God, you were so good with her and she understood you as much as you understood her. He lacked in the motherly department but he was so incredibly content to have you by his side when Haewon was acting like this.
Haewon was quiet for a minute. Then she pursed her lips and sighed, “Okay, Y/N. I’m sorry I’m acting like this.” Jaehyun stopped in front of the produce section, pretending to look at which veggies looked the best to consume, when in reality he was still peeping on your little conversation with his daughter with a big smile on his face.
“Tell your dad that, too, my love. He doesn’t want you to disrupt others either. He just wants to do what’s best for you,” you kissed her cheek.
With that, Haewon turned around and called out to her father.
“Dad!” He turned around, the biggest smile still on his face, “I’m sorry I was disrupting you and Y/N, earlier. I’m just reaaalllyyy hungry. And I want something sweet to eat.”
He walked closer to the two of you. You were still holding her in your arms as she reached out to hug her dad. He also kissed her on the cheek, grateful that she understands the situation and glad that she learned from you.
“It’s okay, baby. I know we’re a little jet-lagged right now and we still want to be in Jeju, but I just want you to understand that we sympathize with you and that you don’t have to be angry,” he kissed her forehead this time.
“And thank you for voicing out your feelings. We’ll get you your food and candy soon, alright?” He patted down the fly-away hairs on her head. His daughter nodded and apologized once more.
Once he was done being focused on making sure Haewon was okay, he looked up and he saw the one person he didn’t ever want to see, standing behind you. Watching the whole thing.
He didn’t know how long she was standing and watching and he didn’t know if she even heard anything that they were saying. Hell, he didn’t know if it was really her but it damn-well looked like it.
He stared at her for a moment, neither of their eyes wavering until he leaned down and cupped your chin within his fingers to place the most delicate kiss to your lips. It’s been so long. And he wanted to finally show her that he was happier without her.
When you arrived home thirty minutes later, you and Jaehyun were putting the groceries away as Haewon was sitting in the living room watching TV and playing with her toys.
“Baby,” you called out to him. He hummed in response, trying to fit the ice cream in the freezer.
“What was that earlier?” You asked, getting up from your knees and tying the bag in a knot to put in the cupboard.
“Mh, what was what?” He closed the freezer door and also got up from his knees, now looking at you, opening the cupboard door and throwing the empty bag.
“The kiss earlier? I mean I know Haewon was upset and all but you didn’t have to kiss me. Especially like that in the grocery store. Plus you looked different,” you cringed at the mere thought of it, not wanting to be those kinds of couples in public.
Why did you have to know him so well? And why did you have to bring it up so soon? He was planning to tell you before you both went to sleep but now was the perfect time, he guessed.
“I saw Jiwoo earlier in the produce aisle. She was watching us,” he rubbed his hands against his face. Even just the thought of his baby-mama got him ticked off.
“Jiwoo? As in, Haewon’s mother, Jiwoo?” You were dumbfounded. After all this time, you had never seen her despite Jaehyun confirming she had never moved out of the city. Seven years passed by and neither had Jaehyun seen her in public. But he was honestly glad that she saw him with you and their daughter.
He snickered, “Yeah. Haewon’s mother, Park Jiwoo.”
The kitchen was dead silent for a moment before Jaehyun broke it, “Just wanted her to see what my life has become. I want to rub in her face that our child is happier than ever, living the best life, and that I’m dating the most phenomenal person ever. And just to show her that I am so fucking happy to be here right now.”
He walked closer to you and caged his arms around your figure, lifting one of his arms to push your hair out of your face.
You chuckled, he was being a little immature for doing that but you were still happy, nonetheless.
“I’m happy too. So fucking happy that I have you and I have Haewon by my side,” you leaned up and placed a kiss on his lips. But as you were about to pull away, he still held you close and locked his lips with yours once more. The two of you were locking lips for a hot minute until you heard small feet padding against the hardwood floors.
“Is it time to eat yet?”
You and Jaehyun cooked up a simple meal for dinner since everyone was beyond starving. But just as he was done eating, he felt his phone vibrate in his pocket. He wiped his hands and checked to see the notification that popped up. It was an Instagram DM from, you guessed it, Park Jiwoo.
He placed his phone down before finishing up his meal and helped you clean the dishes and table and put away the leftovers in the fridge.
Twenty minutes had passed from dinner time and Haewon was fast asleep on the carpet in the living room. Her tummy was on display as her hair was all over the place. Quickly, you took a picture of her. She was too adorable.
Jaehyun was laying on the couch, watching whatever was playing on the TV— Pororo— while not actually watching it. The text message from his baby-mama, still on his mind and left a sour taste in his mouth.
“C’mere,” he said with open arms but a pout painted onto his face.
You placed your phone on the coffee table and returned his open arms while falling on his chest, your head now resting on his shoulder.
“I need to tell you something.”
His voice was serious and it made you immediately whip your head back up from his shoulder. There was definitely something that was bothering him from the tension in the room.
You looked at him with wide eyes, motioning him to continue to tell you what was wrong. He sighed and grabbed his phone from the table and opened up the social media app that has direct messages. He pulled it up and showed you the text message sent from his ex just a half-hour prior.
“‘Hey I see you’re happier now’?” You read her message aloud with a questioning tone.
You could tell on his face that he was pissed that she wanted to be in his life now. To be fair, she looked so much happier than when she did seven, eight, even nine, years ago and he was glad that she was in a better place now. But she was absolutely correct in the fact that he was completely happier.
“What’s wrong, my love? Why are you so quiet?” You asked him, flicking away the hairs covering his forehead.
He sighed again, “I don’t know. Seeing her earlier just made me angry and her going out of her way to find my Instagram and DM me is inappropriate, in my opinion. I just don’t want her to meddle with my life more than she already had eight years ago. Even though I obviously love my daughter more than anything.”
He stopped for a moment, looking into your beautiful eyes, seemingly searching for a way out of the predicament.
“And I don’t want you to feel anything about her or about me because… well, you mean everything to me. And you clearly mean everything to Haewon. I just don’t want her to come into my life at all and fuck up yours as well. Of course I’m happy she’s gotten help, but she doesn’t need to come back into my life anymore. Not that I have you. Not saying that if we weren’t together I would go back— I’ve grown more mature than that— but..” he trailed off. “I don’t know. I don’t want you to think anything of it and I don’t want it to fuck up Haeown’s life either. Because leaving Jiwoo and having full custody of my daughter was the best thing to do.”
But the small interaction made him just overthink about everything. And he didn’t deserve that. Even if Haewon’s mother wanted to reach out to him sooner, he still wouldn’t know what he would do. But he wanted the best for Haewon so maybe he would have gotten back together with her for the better future of their daughter. But it just didn’t work out that way. And he’s beyond happy that his life turned out the way it did.
You endearingly smiled at the person you’d grown to love over the years, both platonically and romantically.
“I’m not worried, my love. Everything happens for a reason, right? You don’t have to be worried about anything because she’s been out of your life for so many years. Haewon doesn’t seem to mind either. And I love you both so much,” you wrapped your arms around him and hugged him as he nestled his way into your frame, hiding his face in your hair and inhaling your calming scent.
You and Haewon were Jaehyun’s everything. Jiwoo was not going to fuck up his life any more than she already had. She had already proved to him that she was not a good mother and nothing would ever change his mind.
For you and for his daughter, he’d give up everything.

Show me the darkest parts of your heart, I ain't gonna run
After the month-long trip to Jeju Island, you and Jaehyun had slowly started getting back to your routines of work and Haewon was getting back to her routine of school. She was in the second grade but at every chance she got, always complained about school to you.
Tonight (and for the rest of the week), the Jeong’s had decided to sleep over your place and to say you liked it was an understatement. You absolutely loved when the little family came to your apartment and treated it as if it were their own. Of course, Jaehyun had taught Haewon to be respectful of your place and to always pick up after herself but you loved when there would be traces of her toys in the spare bedroom (which was officially hers.)
Jaehyun had always begged for you to officially move in with him but because your relationship was fairly new, you wanted to keep that bit of your life to yourself. Which never clearly happened because you spend almost all of your time with the pair.
You had just gotten out of work and you were on your way to pick up Haewon from her elementary school. Jaehyun said that he was going to be working a few hours of overtime at work this week and asked if it would be okay for you to pick her up. You agreed, wanting to spend more personal time with her (as if you never babysat her when she was two.)
You got out of your car and walked toward the entrance of the school, waiting for the classes to be dismissed. But as you were waiting, you saw that one person again. Park Jiwoo.
She seemed to be waiting for a child as well. Hers or not, she was never important in Haewon’s life so it didn’t really matter.
Soon enough, dismissal announcements were made but the kindergarteners and preschoolers were dismissed first. A small child who was no older than six but no younger than three came to hold Park Jiwoo’s hand.
“Mommy!” The little boy exclaimed and took his mothers hand.
The two walked by you, and you know damn-well she saw you with the smug smirk on her face as she held her chin up. She surely was confident for someone who had a baby girl eight years ago and wanted nothing to do with her. Even now, it doesn’t seem like she wants anything to do with Haewon. But all the power to her, she was an adult and she could do as she pleased, whether with good or bad intentions.
You continued to wait for Haewon with a sour taste on your tongue. Seeing Park Jiwoo the one time you picked up Haewon (when you had never seen her before), had your mind in a twist. And just as Haewon reached you, you felt a vibration from your phone in the pocket of your pants. You took it out just to make sure it was Jaehyun, not wanting to miss anything that he could possibly text you. But as you read the Instagram DM notification, your stomach dropped. How had Jaehyun not ever seen his ex since she enrolled her child in the same elementary school as their daughter? You didn’t want to doubt Jaehyun at all, you opened yourself up to him for so many years and to find out if he was lying to you for however long, made your heart drop to your ass. But you gave both of them the benefit of the doubt. Why was she acting so immature when she had two children, one of which she didn’t have custody of?
Haewon smiled her bright smile as she greeted you, “Y/N! You’re picking me up?”
Swiftly, you put your phone back in your pocket and smiled at her (maybe a little too fake but you didn’t want her to see the worry on your face because she would for sure know what was wrong and ask if you were okay. Which you didn’t want.)
“I’m picking you up for the rest of the week, my love,” you placed your hand on the back of her head to guide her to your car.
She told you all about her day at school from the moment her attendance was taken, to their snack break, to dismissal. And though you didn’t mean to zone out on her, all you could think about was the text messages. She sent you one just as Haewon was getting out of her classroom, but she also sent two more on the ride home to your apartment. You did not have a good feeling about any of it.
Once you arrived home and opened the door for Haewon, she immediately ran to the living room and got out her homework. She liked to get her schoolwork done before having fun and playing with her toys or watching TV.
You cooked up lunch for the three of you as she finished doing her homework. As the food was just about ready, you sat at the kitchen island and took out your phone, the irritating name of ‘Park Jiwoo’ still on the lock screen of your phone.
‘hey girly’
‘i see you were picking up haewonie?’
‘can you tell her i said hello?’
Were the three messages she had sent you. You looked at it with disgust on your face. You were trapped in a trance until Haewon called out.
“Y/N? I finished my homework. Is lunch ready yet?” She walked toward you after placing her backpack on the side of the couch.
You looked up and smiled at her. You felt sorry that she never had the mother that she deserved. But what she didn’t know wouldn’t hurt her and right now, she’s enjoying her life with you and her father more than ever. That’s all you really wanted for her.
Quickly, you ran to the stove and shut it off, “It is, baby. Can you get the plates and forks for us? Not your dad. He’s gonna be home late at night so we probably won’t be able to eat with him this week.”
“Why is dad working so late Y/N? I wanna see him so badly!” She playfully whined as she opened the bottom cabinet and took out two plates, both one at a time.
You laughed at her. She would never stay quiet about him, “I don’t know, Wonie. I wanna see him too but we both have to wait for a few days. Besides, you’ll see him in the morning.” You placed the dishes on the table and grabbed Haewon’s plate to fill it with some food and rice.
She dug in with her chopsticks before saying with a full mouth, “I know but it’s not enough. Sometimes I miss him a lot.”
You don’t know why or how the conversation with Haewon got so sentimental but for some reason you felt a bit upset too.
You sighed and placed a ball of rice in your mouth, “Sometimes I miss him too, love.”
The rest of dinner went by slowly and quietly, the first time to ever happen to the two of you.
Jaehyun came home at around nine thirty and Haewon was fast asleep. She had been since almost nine and the second-half of the Monday was dragging into the night, going by so slowly.
You had just gotten out of the shower and you were currently drying your hair when Jaehyun stepped into the room. He heard you showering when he opened up the apartment door and it was unusually quiet. Haewon would still be, at least, awake in bed when he would work overtime. But this Monday was silent, besides the running of water from your shower.
And just to make sure everything was okay, Jaehyun walked into Haewon’s room and checked up on her, pressing the back of his hand to her cheek and forehead gently to make sure she wasn’t feeling sick. But she was completely fine, snoring all the while. So what was going on?
When he was met with you, the towel was in your hand trying to rub as much water out of your hair as possible. He softly smiled, the yellow tint from the lamp hitting the angles of your face just perfectly. But he knew something was up from the moment he opened the door. The TV was shut, Haewon was fast asleep, the candles were lit, and the sullen expression was clear on your face.
Gently, Jaehyun trapped your chin between his fingers and kissed you in a greeting.
“What’s wrong, my love?” He placed his forehead against yours.
You sympathetically smiled and looked up at him, leaning away from his touch, “Nothing, why?”
“You seem down. Everything in this house seems to be in their blues. Is everything okay?” He asked once more.
You didn’t want to lie to him about what happened earlier. And you’re sure you would eventually tell him, but the words didn’t want to come out of your mouth apparently.
You lifted your arm and rubbed your thumb against his cheek, “I’m fine, baby. Don’t worry about me.”
He playfully squinted his eyes at you (in hopes you would tell him what’s up) as you laughed at him and pushed him away. You had to make it seem like you and everything else in this house was okay. You turned him around toward the bathroom and told him to go shower. He complied, still wondering what was up and why you were being so distant. But he didn’t want to pressure you. You’d open up to him soon, he just has to be patient.
But sometimes he was too patient and you cursed at yourself for being selfish at times where you needed to cooperate with him and open up your vulnerabilities and insecurities. Why did you have to get like this? This week was not supposed to look like this at all. And it was only Monday, for God Sake.
When Jaehyun got out of the shower and walked back into your bedroom, he saw your figure already laying down yet your back was facing the door. Something was for sure bothering you and he wanted to know what was wrong with his baby. He wanted to know what was wrong with his other baby too. Both of his babies were not in a good mood at all and he just wanted to know why.
He climbed into bed and raked his hands across your cheek. You looked so peaceful. Contrary to the sullen expression that was hidden on your face twenty minutes ago. Quietly, Jaehyun wished you a good night.
Yet you couldn’t fall asleep. You wanted to toss and turn but you didn’t want to wake Jaehyun up. However, you couldn’t deal with the fidgeting and decided to grab a glass of water. You getting out of bed prompted Jaehyun to open his eyes and ask where you were going. It had only been ten minutes of shut-eye.
“ ‘M just gonna get some water, don’t worry,” you explained to him and tip-toed your way to the kitchen.
And Jaehyun didn’t think much of it until the room lit up with a notification from your phone. As much as Jaehyun didn’t want to snoop, he snooped. He turned to the light source and took your phone off of the nightstand. Just as he did, he saw the incoming texts from his baby-mama. Why was she texting you?
He read the messages from your lock screen and just as you had come in, he placed your phone back onto the nightstand. You couldn’t help but to question him.
“What were you doing on my phone, Jae?”
He sighed and scrunched his face, “Why didn’t you tell me, my love?”
You furrowed your brows before placing the glass of water on the coaster on your nightstand and sat in bed across from him.
“Tell you what?” You asked as he took your hands in his.
“That Park Jiwoo messaged you,” he said without hesitation.
Oh.
You were quiet for a second, trying to find an answer and trying to not let a tear run down your face.
“I just..” you started, “I didn’t want you to worry… I don’t know….It’s- I’m sorry.”
He looked up at your flushed face and held your face in the palms of his hands urgently, “No, no! Don’t apologize, my love. Why are you apologizing? There’s nothing to be sorry about. I’m sorry I made it seem like that. I just wanted to know why. And I want to know if that’s making you feel like this.”
You released your face from his hands as you wiped a tear that unfortunately fell from your cheek. Before you could continue wiping your tears, Jaehyun cupped your face again and wiped the tears with his thumb instead, “Take your time, angel.”
“I just saw her today. Picking up Haewon. She was picking up her son, I assume. He’s in kindergarten…. And I,” you paused. “I- I didn’t want it- her- to affect me because I know you don’t want it to affect me but… it just affected me a lot. And then she messaged me right as Haewon got out of her classroom and then texted me on the way home… And I guess just right now. But I…” you trailed off.
“Hey, hey, hey,” said your lover. “You don’t have to worry about that alright? I can block her from your social media but don’t worry about her right now, okay? Is that why Haewon’s upset too?”
You wanted to cry even harder, not liking the fact that he caught on to Haewon as well.
“No…! No. It was all me. I just… I let it affect me too much I guess and was kinda standoffish with her this afternoon. I didn’t want it to be like that and that’s so incredibly immature of me to do but,” he held your hand, “I don’t know. I couldn’t help it. I’m sorry. And I’m sorry you have to deal with all of this after work.”
Jaehyun never wanted to see you this upset, especially if it was caused by his immature ex-girlfriend.
“Look at me, Y/N.” You looked up at him with red eyes. “Don’t ever apologize about that, okay? I know we just saw her and it was too soon and too much of a coincidence for you to see her today but don’t let her eat your brain. She’s gonna manipulate you and I don’t want that for you or for my daughter. You’re okay, yeah? I’m not angry or upset. If anything I’m pissed with her but you did nothing wrong.. I know you, and I know you wouldn’t purposefully react this way.”
You let out some more tears. Sometimes you don’t understand why Jaehyun stayed when he already had a seven, almost eight, year old daughter. Sometimes you felt too immature to handle situations like these and felt like you were shunning out his daughter. But Jaehyun’s been by your side long enough to know your intentions. And he knows you hadn’t put Haewon through anything. He knew you still prioritized her when you were feeling down. He knew that when you were feeling down you were unusually quiet and he guessed it rubbed off onto Haewon. But he doesn’t blame you at all. He could never. And yet you still don’t know why he thinks the best of you.
You cried out your lungs, your brain not knowing any other way to react than to let it out. He held you close, your head in his neck, wetting his skin and the fabric of his shirt with your tears.
“It’s okay, baby. Let it out. Thank you for telling me your feelings,” he rubbed your back, kissing the crown of your head.
“I’m so sorry,” you muffled into him as your sobbing died down.
You soon fell fast asleep in his arms. He laid the two of you down onto the bed when he felt your breathing even out.
As he observed every crevice on your face, from the puffy aftermath of your eyes to the swell of your lips, Jaehyun thought you were utterly ethereal. He knew why you didn’t tell him at first. But he wanted you to know that he wasn’t going to run away when you opened up to him. He knew you could get insecure but he loved how raw it could feel. How raw it does feel. It just hurts him too much to see you hurting. Neither does he want his daughter to hurt because of something that happened in the past.
Some people live and learn and others don’t. You have lived and learned, and that’s all that matters
when you’re open enough to express your feelings to him. He knows he will stay put and never leave.
Letting out the overwhelming feelings to Jaehyun the night before called for a good night's rest. Knowing that Jaehyun was by your side and that he always would be (even when you were in the darkest place), made you feel safe.
Waking up before anyone’s alarm, you looked over at Jaehyun to see him with a pout on his face and his arms still wrapped around your waist. You thanked him, mentally, for last night and the shenanigans your mind had put you through and carefully got out of bed. You wanted to make breakfast to start off the day right.
With the pitter-patter of the dishes clanging in the kitchen, Haewon awoke with a major bed head while rubbing her eyes.
“Y/N?” She asked which prompted you to slightly jump, not hearing her walk her way into the kitchen at all.
“Yes, my love? You scared me!” You turned off the stove and turned to her.
She drowsily laughed and rubbed her eyes again, “What are you doing?”
“I’m making breakfast. Do you want to help? I’m almost done, though,” you kneeled down and patted down her bird's nest.
“No. Can I just watch you? I’m still tired,” she pouted and made her way to sit on the kitchen island.
You chuckled at the sight of her and answered, “Of course you can, my love. You can wake up your dad soon, though, okay?” She nodded and rested her head in the palms of her hands as she sleepily watched you check on the hash browns and sausages in the oven.
You set up plates and cups and juice on the table before you turned to Haewon (who was more awake than she was five minutes ago) to go and shake her dad awake for an early breakfast before work and school.
“Dad!” You could hear her screaming as she walked down the hall to the bedroom. Haewon jumped on the bed and climbed over to her father who’s back was facing the door.
“Daddy!” She whisper-shouted into his ear, “It’s time to eat! Y/N made us breakfast.”
Slowly, Jaehyun stirred awake and stretched some parts of his limbs before closing his eyes once more and drifting off to dreamland. Haewon felt him going back to sleep and held his face in her small hands, asking him to wake up so you could all eat fresh breakfast.
Playfully, Jaehyun stayed still, acting as if he was still fast asleep. She was still bugging him when all of a sudden he gets up and wraps his arm around her figure and quietly shouts, “No! It’s too early, lovely!”
Haewon screams out, laughing at her fathers behavior as you sit in the kitchen, waiting for the hash browns and sausages to finish cooking while listening to their daily antics. Sweetly, you smiled to yourself as you listened to their morning shrieks. A few minutes later, the Jeong’s walk out of your bedroom with their bed heads and ruffled clothes.
“Good morning,” Jaehyun greets with a kiss, not to mention his to-die-for morning voice.
You smiled back at him in a greet, silently still thinking about the fiasco that happened the night prior, thanking everything the world had blessed you.
Soon, the three of you enjoy breakfast together before Jaehyun leaves to get ready for work. Currently, his work schedule is 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. as he’s working overtime and you knew he would be tired for the rest of the week. Who wouldn’t? He was working fourteen hours yet not a peep came out of his mouth. He never complained about his schedule. That’s what made him all the more admirable.
Usually, he would get ready as Haewon would get ready and drop her off on his way to work and let you sleep in peace (though sometimes you felt selfish for sleeping in), but today and probably for the rest of the week, you were going to wake up early to drop off Haewon yourself so Jaehyun didn’t have to worry about her as much.
The three of you walk down to the garage where your cars are parked right next to each other. Jaehyun kneels down to match the height of his daughter before kissing her on the forehead, “Bye, my love. Have a good day at school today, okay?”
“Of course, daddy! Have a good day at work!” She goes on her tippie-toes to kiss her father back, wishing him a goodbye and good luck. He endearingly smiles back at her with the softest eyes as he gets up from his knees.
He then smiles at you and tucks a piece of hair behind your ear, a habit you’ve noticed he’s been doing a lot more recently to not only you, but to Haewon as well.
“Have a good day, my love,” he whispers against your lips. “Don’t let, you know who, get to your head again, okay? If she does, just let me know.” He leans back and looks at you firmly, yet gently.
You locked eyes with him and slightly smiled to yourself, still a little embarrassed that you let Park Jiwoo get to your head the day before.
You nodded and said, “I will, thank you. I love you.”
He returned your love and unlocked his car and drove off as you situated yourself and Haewon in the car. You decided it wouldn’t hurt to be early to work for the rest of the week, your co-workers would love it and your boss would eat it up.
You drove to her school as she talked about her sleep and about the dream she happened to have the night before. You intently listened to her and gave her the appropriate reactions, actually paying attention to what she was saying. Jaehyun reassuring you last night really made a huge difference in your mood that morning.
Finally, you reached her school and as she got out of the car you reminded her that you were going to pick her up and told her to have a good day at school, no matter how much she disliked it at times.
The dismissal routine for Haewon’s elementary school stayed the same. You walked inside, waited with the parents as they called down the students one grade by another. Luckily, you didn’t see the dreaded Park Jiwoo which left the knot in your stomach to fall as you unconsciously sighed out.
This time, though, Haewon was one of the last students in her class to get dismissed, which made you concerned. Hopefully nothing happened.
You cheerfully greeted her as you asked her how her day was at school while you walked to the car. You buckled her in and off you were back to the safety and comfort of your apartment and Haewon’s second home. On the ride, though, you asked her why she came out of her classroom so late.
“It was nothing. I was helping my teacher clean some supplies. We did some arts and crafts earlier. It’s supposed to be a surprise, but I’m planning to make a photo booth for you, me, and daddy. But I already told you, so please keep it a secret from dad! I want him to be surprised,” she begged.
You looked at her through the rear view mirror as you already pictured her art project coming to life. You knew it was going to be so cute.
“Alright baby, I'll keep my mouth shut,” you laughed, “But I’ll get you some pictures to bring to school, yeah? We can find some before your dad comes home.” She clapped and noted that you had a good idea. Haewon talking about an art project that clearly means a lot to her warmed your heart, even when the days were getting colder as the months passed by.
You both got home and Haewon immediately asked if there were photo books that had pictures that weren’t too big but also weren’t too small. “Just right,” as Haewon said.
In the living room, you had always kept a photo book on the table or in the drawers in the coffee table that was sitting in the middle of the room. Sometimes, when you felt a little extra lonely, you would open up that specific photo book and reminisce on all of the memories the three of you created and shared together. It was as heartwarming as it was bittersweet. Heartwarming because looking back at all of the memories held a soft spot in your heart. Yet bittersweet because times were changing and you were all getting older and you may grow apart.
Looking through all of the photos made you want to cry. And you sniffled, the tears rimming your eyes. But your sniffling made Haewon look up at you with her doe eyes.
“Are you crying, Y/N?” She asked, no longer paying attention to the photos and would rather much pay attention to you at that moment.
You chuckled at her and smiled at her thoughtfulness and attentiveness, “I’m okay, my love. I just love looking at these pictures.”
She looked over your face once more and replied, “Me too! I miss when we had days like this. It was so fun!”
Near the end of the photo book, there were countless amounts of picture strips the three of you took both in the city and even in Jeju from the photo booths.
“Haewon, you can use these! We can just cut them up and they should be the perfect size. We’ll put them in an envelope and then hide them in your bag before daddy comes home, yeah?” You suggested just as her eyes lit up at your idea.
The two of you went to cut the pictures into their respective squares. You cut up one of the strips for her before preparing dinner for the two of you to eat fresh, and for Jaehyun to reheat and eat when he comes home.
Haewon has said it before and she’ll definitely say it again, she disliked when her father was at work so much that he wouldn’t even be home for dinner. You sympathized with her, completely knowing how she feels about her father coming home so late, eating late, and eating alone. Although, he never really eats alone because you’re always there to sit at the kitchen island and talk about your days so he isn’t lonely.
Later that night, though, Jaehyun comes home a few minutes earlier than he usually does. And by a few minutes you mean approximately forty-five. He surprises the two of you as Haewon was sitting in the living room watching TV, slowly falling asleep, and you were in the shower scrubbing the day off of you.
Once she heard the apartment door open, though, Haewon was fast in sitting up, somehow already knowing that it was her father.
Gleefully, she runs to the doorway and helps him put his bag away before jumping into his arms and resting her head on his shoulder. He carries her back into the apartment and into your bedroom as the two of them caught you in the middle of blow drying your hair. You looked at them through the mirror with wide-eyes.
“You’re home already?” You asked as he placed Haewon down on the bed.
He walked behind you and hid his face in your neck, breathing in your fresh scent.
“I am. Do you not want me home, my love?” He mumbled against your skin.
“No! You’re just early. You don’t usually come home early,” you explained, unplugging the hair dryer.
“I know, but they let me go early, thankfully, so now I can come home and enjoy my night with my two favorite girls,” he kissed your cheek and jumped onto the bed which made Haewon laugh.
Once Jaehyun is done eating and showering, Haewon waits patiently in her room for her dad to tuck her in tonight. To say you were offended was an understatement. But he was her father and she just missed him too much.
Jaehyun kissed his daughter on the forehead and was about to turn off the light to go to your bedroom until Haewon asked him about his day.
“It was fine, baby. It’s the same everyday,” he laughed, sitting back on her bed, caressing her cheek. “How was school, my love?”
Her eyes lit up, ready to explain to her father about what happened at school and the project she was working on, blowing her own secret.
“Well, we have an art project and we started working on it yesterday. It’s all about the things that make us happy and I wanted to put all three of us. And I was just explaining how happy I was with you and Y/N and told her all about my trip and that I was going to put that in my art project and,” she trailed off, sighing at the thought of it. “I just can’t wait to do it, dad!”
He pouts at the little girl, completely enamored by her admiration for her little family. “I can’t wait to see it, baby. I bet it’s going to be the best of the best.”
He then continues to wish her a good night.
That Tuesday night brought you all good dreams.
The rest of the week followed, roughly, the same schedule. You’d wake up with the two of them, wish Jaehyun a good bye, take Haewon to school, be thirty minutes early to work, pick up Haewon (while avoiding Park Jiwoo as much as you can), come home, make lunch as Haewon does her homework and talks about her day, shower and get ready for bed, and wait for Jaehyun to come home and tuck Haewon to bed.
But when Friday rolled along, Haewon was more upset than usual.
When you picked her up, she didn’t greet you with her usual smile and immediate conversation. Instead, she was one of, if not, the last person to get out of her class. And though she’s been one of the last people to leave this week, today just seemed more gloomy to her.
You tried to indulge in conversation, trying to figure out why Haewon was so upset but to no avail. She would stay quiet or keep her answers short. She did her homework but barely ate her dinner, and you of course, wanted to know why she was upset all of a sudden. It wasn’t usually like her to be this upset for a long period of time. Even when Jaehyun came home she was fast asleep. And he obviously asked what was wrong. To which you had no answer.
When he walked into her room, the lights were out and her back was facing toward the door. Quietly, he turned on the light lamp on the nightstand to try and see what was wrong. Yet he still couldn’t figure it out. Once he sighed and got up from her bed, she turned around with tears in her eyes.
“Dad!” She sobbed as he immediately turned around and sat on the bed, taking in his daughter with open arms.
“What? What’s wrong, my love? Why are you crying?” Jaehyun thinks this is the hardest he’s ever seen his daughter cry. He’s beyond panicked as he rocks her back and forth in his arms.
Haewon explained to her dad that she was getting teased at school for not having a real mom. The kids in her classroom would always pick on her for calling you by your name rather than ‘mom.’ They would ask why you were never ‘mom’ to which Haewon didn’t have an answer. How could she when all she knew was Y/N?
She sobbed and sobbed into her fathers clothes, dampening them with her tears. The minute she broke down, you ran into the room, worried that something had happened to her. But you were met with Jaehyun who was holding onto his daughter for dear life. She was shaking him the entire time she was telling her story and you could feel your heart breaking in two. Children were amazing. But many children weren’t raised right.
Jaehyun mouths to you that he’s got everything under control and that you don’t have to worry about her. But how could you not worry about her when she was shaking in her fathers arms.
“I love Y/N so much but dad!” She stuttered, hugging her dad seemingly tighter. Seeing her this heartbroken over not having someone to call ‘mom’ made his life crash. Yet he didn’t say a word, waiting for her breakdown to come to a conclusion so that he can reassure her about everything in her life. It took about ten minutes.
“Listen, baby,” he used his sleeve to wipe all of the tears and boogers that were running down her flushed face.
“I was afraid this was going to happen…. but you don’t worry about that, okay? Just because you don’t call Y/N mom, doesn’t mean you don’t have a mom. I don’t want to tell you this now, but you should know that Y/N isn’t your real mom. But she’s more of a mother than anyone could be. Your classmates are just being disrespectful. They’re jealous because they don’t have a Y/N, alright?” He brushed his fingers through his daughter's hair.
“And you love Y/N, right, baby?” He asked. She nodded.
“So that’s all that really matters, right? That doesn’t mean you have to start calling Y/N ‘mom.’ You just know that she’s there for you, and that she has been there for you since you could remember. I want you to know that everything is okay and that those kids are jealous that you have a happy family, okay?” He wiped the remaining tears that fell from her eyes.
She hiccuped and nodded, wiping her eyes herself with the back of her hand.
“Thank you for telling me, my love. I know it’s hard for you, and I don’t want you to go through things like this but so many people go through this and it’s so important that people understand that. You’re not mad, right? I don’t want you to be upset because there’s nothing you can do when you fall in love,” he explained, rubbing her back. She nodded again as she apologized to him.
He heartbrokenly laughed, “What are you apologizing for, my angel? You’re okay for feeling this way, alright? Y/N knows how confusing it is too but she still loves you like her own.”
Haewon had no words. She couldn’t express how else she was feeling and instead asked if she could sleep with the two of you. Which Jaehyun happily accepted, much wanting her to sleep with the two of you tonight.
As he watched the two of you head into your hazy slumber, all he wanted to do was cry. His two babies had one of the worst weeks of their lives and he felt like he could do nothing to help it. Yet, no matter how helpless he felt, he would stick with you and Haewon for the rest of eternity if he could.

They say you know when you know, well, I know, I know you're the one
When Haewon came home two weeks after all of the bads within her subsided, she returned to her fathers car as he picked her up. This time around, you were the one to be working overtime and Jaehyun had gotten back to his regular work schedule (not those dreaded fourteen hour shifts.) The following week consisted of work schedules and work that needed to be finished at home. Currently, Dreamlab Management is having a release for their company and they need you more than ever. It was a little off-putting to have you not home at the Jeong’s residence with the Jeong’s themselves but they couldn’t really do anything about it because it was your job and you loved working there. They weren’t going to stop you.
Following the dismissal of Haewon, she came to her father with open arms, immediately showing him the project she worked so hard on for the past couple of weeks.
“Dad, look! This was what I was talking to you about when we slept over Y/N’s house last time. Isn’t it pretty?” She asked, shoving the art piece in his face to get a better look at it. His heart melted, so happy that she was so happy. So proud that she was proud to show off her family.
“It’s very pretty, my love. I’ll go look at it when we get home, yeah? We gotta do some groceries and when we come home, I’ll look at it as much as we want to. We can even put it in the living room for Y/N to see when she has the chance to come over,” he said, while adjusting her seatbelt. The girl nodded at her father, looking through all of the pictures you helped her cut and chose.
Once they arrived at their humble abode, Haewon helped her father carry the grocery bags in the house before putting her art project on the coffee table and getting out whatever homework she had to do. This gave Jaehyun some time to cook some dinner and get things situated before they’re off to bed.
When dinner was cooked and Jaehyun had the table set for the two of them, they enjoyed their meal as they asked each other all about the day's events and concerns. Haewon had a few concerns, there were still some children in her class that would tease her about her not having an ‘actual mom’ but you were as actual as it could get, so it didn’t bother her as much. Besides, her teacher had put them into place once she heard all about what those kids were saying to their classmate. Jaehyun also had a few concerns, but they were all work related and he didn’t want to burden (or rather bore) his daughter on things she couldn’t even understand. Suffice to say, dinner went by well. Especially when most of the things the daughter-father pair talked about was their family.
Haewon was nice and toasty after her shower and Jaehyun was now sitting on her bed, tucking her into bed and wishing her a good night.
“Daddy!” she exclaimed, getting up from under the covers.
“Yes, my love,” he sat up with her dramatic exit from bed.
“How could we forget?!” She ran into the living room and got the art project she’s worked so hard on. “You never saw the pictures, dad!”
Haewon moved her father to sit with his back against the headboard as she climbed onto his lap and held the photobooth in her hands.
“You go like this,” she grabbed Jaehyun’s hand and wound up the cardboard handle. And out came the pictures which consisted of the three of you, just Haewon and you, Haewon and her father, and two pictures of just you and Jaehyun which Haewon begged for you to give her. Watching the pictures come out one by one made his heart swell, recalling all of the fond memories he had with his two girls.
Jaehyun found himself sniffling with just a look at the pictures he forgot about in the long-run. But now, he was so thankful that Haewon brought them to his attention again. Even though he has all of those pictures hanging up around the house and even in his bedroom, he never gave them much thought until right now.
Pausing her movements, Haewon looked up at her dad with wide eyes. Carefully she put the art project to the side and sat facing her father, taking his face in her hands, “Dad? Are you crying?”
He held his hands over hers which were still resting on his face, “I am.” The young girl furrowed her brows, “But why? Are you upset about my project?”
Slowly, Jaehyun kissed her on her forehead and brought her in his arms, “Of course, I’m not, baby. I’m crying happy tears.”
She lifted herself from his grasp, “Oh. Y/N was crying too… when we were picking out the photos. Are you guys both that happy?”
The father laughed and placed a piece of hair behind her ear, “Yes we are. We’re the perfect little family, aren’t we?”
With her father’s words, Haewon broke out in the biggest smile ever, “Hm, I guess we are dad! I can’t wait to show Y/N. How long do we have to wait until we see her again?” She leaned back into her father’s chest.
“We’ll see her this weekend, I’m sure. Maybe even Friday. I bet she’ll love your project so much.”
Life continued to grow for the three of you. When you got home from work Friday night, your two Jeong’s had been up and they were both incredibly excited to fill you in on what happened the past week you had been cooped up at work.
Again, you cried as Haewon showed you her art project she would constantly talk about.
Watching you get as emotional as he did when his daughter showed him the project, solidified everything he had ever known. The potential of starting a new life with you was now sure in his heart. He wanted to wait a while, but he didn’t know how long he could wait. Jaehyun just knew that he wanted to tie the knot. With you and only you.
°•. ✿ .•°
Some people bring you a million blessings
Learning to love his life as three, Jaehyun had been beyond happy. With you, Haewon, and baby number two on the way, he couldn't have been happier. Happy, happy, happy. It was the only emotion that would ever fill him, even at work, and even if his baby-mama wouldn’t leave you alone. He knew what he wanted in life and he knew where he was in life. If it meant with his daughter and you, that’s all that really mattered to him. His daughter helped him learn how to adult at a young age. You had helped him to appreciate the little things in life. And the both of you brought him genuine happiness.
With the baby on the way, he couldn’t even control his elation. He felt as if he was in euphoria, and he never wanted to leave. The both of you brought him millions of blessings and only millions of more were ready to come.
Some people teach you a million lessons
People come and go. And there are many people in Jaehyun’s life that have taught him so many lessons, both in good and bad ways. He had dealt with a terrorizing ex, girls that only wanted the validation from someone as attractive as he was, his daughter adapting to the real world, and you.
They all came and went and even now, he was going through lessons he would eventually learn in the future. But either way, his life journey has brought him here. With his family of four, there were no words to describe the way he would ever feel.
Some people come in your life for a reason
Others they come in your life for a season
People like Park Jiwoo and you came into Jaehyun’s life for a reason. What reason exactly? He didn’t even know. But he’s so incredibly thankful that the universe played his cards right. He’s been through so much shit but it led him to you. At the end of his and his daughter’s path, you were there, greeting them with open arms as you all continued a life together.
The other girls he dated back in his early twenties were only a fling. They didn’t mean much to him, emotionally, yet every girl he had brought out on a date led him closer and closer to the likes of you– his (un)official babysitter at the time– and he felt bad to have let you see that part of him but you still let him in on your vulnerabilities every time. You still opened up to him and in turn, he opened up his heart to you.
But things like this only happen once in a lifetime and Jaehyun is so grateful that it happened in his lifetime.

“Hey—hey—stop! Nothing is wrong with my eyes!” You explode, brows furrowed together as you glare at your three friends. “If you’re really not blind, then explain the fact why you don’t find Lee Taeyong hot,” says Jisoo.
“Well, for starters, he’s my brother?” You acted like you were purely disgusted, gagging a little.
“Step brother!” Jennie immediately interrupts, trying to prove her point. “That doesn’t make anything better,” you slowly said, scoffing a little.
“Yes it does. It means you and Mr. hottie are not blood related which also means that you can fuck him anytime in any day. I just wonder why you haven’t.” Euna eyes you from bottom to top, clicking on her tongue. “Are you really, really, really sure you aren’t blind?”
“Girls, I don’t see Lee Taeyong that way and for sure he doesn’t see me other then his stupid little sister too. Stop that.” You sigh, done with how they keep insisting that you’re blind just because you don’t find your step brother hot.
“Nuh uh, sister. He looks at you as if you’re one hot class meal.”
“And don’t you even notice the way he checks you out the last time we went on the beach?”
“No I—”
“Please, Taeyong obviously doesn’t see you as his ‘stupid little sister’.”
“Alright! Alright! Let me prove it to you guys that he doesn’t look at me that way. Ugh, wait, I’ll video call him.” Defeated by your stubborn friends, you lazily reached for your phone and dialed a certain number.
“Where is he again?” Euna asked, hearing your phone ring. “I think he’s in Busan, right?” Jisoo answers, also unsure. You hum at this and let out a sound of relief seeing Taeyong answer his phone. You looked up to your friends and gestured for them to stay quiet.
“Oh, Y/n-ah, what’s wrong?” Taeyong’s husky voice reached your ears. You could tell it took everything inside Euna, Jennie, and Jisoo to not squeal at his voice.
“Nothing much, just bored. What are you up to?” It also took everything in you not to roll your eyes at them. “Mhmm,” he hummed then slowly chuckled, “don’t end the call but I have to use the bathroom. Be back in a sec then we could watch your favorite movie, how does that sound?”
You smiled at this, heart fluttering at his sweetness. Lee Taeyong sure is perfect boyfriend material…if only he wasn’t your step brother. “Yeah sure, sounds perfect,” you replied, watching as he placed his phone by the large window in his hotel room.
“Is he gone?” Jennie mouths, trying to take a peek. You shake your head, still seeing Taeyong’s reflection thanks to the window. Euna pouts at your answer, grabbing her phone to keep her busy while waiting.
Your eyes slowly widened seeing Taeyong slowly unbutton his shirt until he was completely bare for you to see his chest and abs. Your chest tightened when he stood up from the bed and left the room to go to the bathroom just like he said.
“What? What’s wrong with you?” Jisoo asks in a whisper, noticing your flustered state.
“N-Nothing.” You stuttered, the image of Taeyong being shirtless still very much imprinted in your mind. “Why are you acting like that?” This time, it was Jennie who was suspicious. “I-I said nothing! Now shhhh, he’s back.” You shushed them after hearing the bathroom door open.
Taeyong walked back to the room, now wearing a robe. His hear was messy and fuck, did he look hot. He picked up the phone and smiled at you too casually for your liking. “Hey Y/n, sorry, did you wait too long?”
“N-No. I-I uhhh…T-Taeyong, next time, if you want to change, please just turn off your camera.” It was embarrassing saying that sentence, especially when the three of your friends suddenly stared at you like you were an interesting tv show. Your cheeks fired up and you couldn’t even look at Taeyong on the screen, still flustered from what you saw earlier.
“You saw my reflection on the window?” Taeyong asked in a fake gasp, moving the camera a bit. He smiled after in a way that you didn’t like. “U-Uh, yeah, but I promise I closed my eyes!” You lied, gulping afterwards. He smirked, laughing in a seductive yet playful way, “Oh my…I’m so embarrassed.”
“Don’t be! It’s really fine, w-we’re siblings, remember?” You hate yourself for stumbling over your words.
“You saw that?” He continued on laughing, still stuck on that topic. “Taeyong,” you whinnied, more embarrassed now, “stop laughing! It’s not funny!”
He made a face then licked his lip slowly, speaking in the most low voice he could. “You should’ve turned a blind eye to it.”
“I-I t-tried—”
Taeyong sat on his bed, placing a veiny hand on his thigh, biting his moist kissable lips. He eyed your flustered state, enjoying every minute of it. “Awww now what do I do? I made my little princess shy, didn’t I? Oppa’s sorry.”
You shouldn’t be turned on by what he said, but you couldn’t help it. In your mind, even if your friends were still quiet by the corner of your room, you could hear their voices telling you ‘We told you so’.

He was five when he saw you for the first time.
Jisung was feeling anxious, his heart was beating fast and his hands were sweating, the movement of the car making him more nervous and the big truck behind them made him feel as if he was being chased, which only fueled his panic. His family was moving to the house in front of yours where you and Haechan were playing. You pushed your brother a little too hard, making him fall, and you laughed as a result. He couldn't stop looking at you—for some reason, you intrigued him. Maybe it was the way you helped your brother immediately right after he fell, maybe it was the way you started to console him by patting his head and fixing his hair, maybe it was the way you never stopped smiling. He still remembers what you were wearing; a light blue dress with a moon right on your chest, with white sneakers and your hair up in two pigtails. You looked adorable and he knew at that moment you had the prettiest pair of eyes.
He got out of his parent's car and the sound of the door closing was loud enough to make you look his way. You were amazed by the big moving truck and when your eyes landed on him, you waved hello. Jisung was too nervous and didn't know what to do other than hide behind his mom. After the little interaction, she took Jisung's hand and walked inside their new home—he couldn't stop looking at you even while he was being brought inside.
A few hours later a knock on the door made Jisung look up from his coloring book. It was his mom who opened the door and later on she asked Jisung to come to the entrance. He was surprised by your presence, along with your mother and your brother. Haechan looked exactly like his mom, and he was guessing you looked more like your dad.
“Jisung, these are our neighbors. They live in the house right in front of us, say hi.”
“Hey, little guy.” Your mom was the first one to talk and by seeing how nervous Jisung was she smiled.
“Hi, I'm y/n, very nice to meet you.” You extended your hand and he noticed a silver bracelet on your wrist. It looked big on you, but you didn't seem to care.
“I'm Jisung,” he said with very pink cheeks while grabbing your hand and letting it go almost immediately.
“This is my brother Donghyuck, but we call him Haechan.”
“Hey, only my friends call me that.”
“Well Jisung is our friend now, dummy.” Jisung laughed, so did his mother and yours.
“Mom! Don't laugh, say something.” Haechan furrowed his eyebrows and crossed his arms over his chest, Jisung noticed that he had the same bracelet as you.
“Y/n, we've talked about this.” Your mom’s stern tone made you look down.
“Yeah alright…” There was a defeated tone in your voice. “I’m sorry.”
“That was so fake.” Haechan pokes his tongue out and you copy his actions.
“Kids, behave.” It only took one look from your mother to stop the bickering between you two. “Now y/n, why don't you ask Jisung's mom the thing you wanted when you saw him earlier?”
“Oh right!” The excitement in your eyes made them look even prettier, making Jisung's heart race. “Can Jisung come play with us? I promise we will take care of him and we'll have him home before it gets dark.” You gave Jisung's mom your puppy eyes and she couldn't help but laugh at your cuteness; meanwhile, Jisung was trying to calm himself.
“I have no problem, but let's see what Jisung has to say, okay?” All eyes were on him, making him hide behind his mom once again, a habit that he does till this day.
You noticed how shy and nervous he was, so you came closer, grabbing his hand and rubbing your little thumb on his knuckles in an attempt to calm him down.
“Do you want to come and play? I promise we're nice people,” you said in the softest voice. It only took a look into your eyes to make Jisung forget about his shyness, the warmth in them was enough to make him feel safe.
“Yes.” His voice was a whisper but he knew you heard him since your smile grew wider.
“Great! Let’s go!” You pulled his hand along with your brother’s and bolted out of there with the boys following you. “Thanks Jisung's mom, I'll take good care of him, I promise!”
And that's what you did. You took care of Jisung that whole afternoon, the day after and the one after that. You kept your promise to Mrs. Park and you took care of her son up until this day.
Tumblr media
He was 10 years old when he discovered he had a crush on you.
You and Donghyuck were going into your first year of junior high while Jisung was still in elementary school. He was distressed, to say the least. It was his first time going to school without the two of you, he felt lost and lonely. You three would walk together to school; it had been a tradition for years, at least for him but now that you were going to another school, the tradition was broken. It was a very mundane thing but seeing you first thing in the morning always lifted his mood up.
Despite moving to the neighbourhood 5 years ago, he had only managed to make 2 friends, you and your brother. He feared not making any new friends during those 2 years he had left of middle school before he could join you.
He tried fixing his tie but no matter how much he tried, it always turned out a little crooked. He let out a tired sigh and gave up. He said goodbye to his parents and then he finally grabbed his backpack to leave the house. He was surprised by your presence in his front yard. You looked so pretty in your new uniform and you no longer wore your hair up. It was longer, soft and shiny as it lapped at your shoulders, gently stirred in the breeze, the sun giving it a lighter hue. Jisung let out a sigh while admiring you.
“Y/n? What are you doing here?” he asked, confused.
“I'm walking you to school, duh,” you said with an obvious tone.
“Why?”
“What do you mean why? We've been walking to school together for years, Sung.”
“I know, but you go to a new school now.”
“You do know it's just around the corner, right?” you giggled while seeing his red cheeks when he realized. “And even if it was far away, I don't want you to walk to school alone. It's tradition that we do it together.”
He felt his heart racing and a certain warmth hugging him, he thought he was the only one taking it as tradition. He was so happy to find out he wasn't alone and that it wasn’t a thing that you had to do but that you also looked forward to it.
“And Haechan hyung?”
“He left earlier since he didn't want anyone to take the last seat of the central row.” You pause. “You know how he is,” you say pointedly, making the younger one laugh. “Here, let me help you.” You untied his tie and put it around your neck. Your fingers moved smoothly and before tying it completely you took it off. “Stay still.” You put the tie around the collar of his button up, you fixed it and finally you tied it up; your fingers brushed against his neck, making him feel chills, they were cold even though it was summer. “There you go.” You moved your hands and Jisung noticed your silver bracelet once again.
He found out that you and Hacehan had the same bracelet, both of your names engraved plus a little sun for Donghyuck and a little moon for you. It was a gift from your parents when you turned two. You once confessed to him that it was your biggest treasure.
“C'mon we're gonna be late.” Whilst saying that, you started walking.
You never talked much during your walks to school, but none of you cared. It was your little moment of peace before the chaos started.
“Are you nervous?” He looked at you when he heard your voice.
“Yes, very,” you chuckled, making him smile, he couldn't help himself.
“You'll be okay.”
“Yeah, I don't think so.” He lets out a nervous giggle. “It's gonna be hard without you there.”
“C’mon Jisung, you're really nice and such a good person. You just need to make the first move or keep the conversation going if someone starts one.”
“I'm terrible at it.” His tone was dejected.
“You have become much better though, Hyuck and I have taught you well. Don't tell me you have forgotten everything?” You giggled.
“No.” His voice held a panicked tone. “It’s just that, why would people want to be friends with me? I never talk.”
“Anyone would be lucky to have you as a friend.” Your voice was serious. “You’re loyal, funny and caring. They would be very stupid if they didn't want to be friends with you.” He noticed your anger when he looked at you.
You arrived at his school after finishing the conversation. You grabbed his hand before he could go in, making him face you.
“You're gonna be okay. Don't worry about it too much, and have fun.” You fixed his tie one last time. “I'll come for you when school is done.” And when you fix your own hair, he noticed that your bracelet fell off. “I have to go or I'll be late, see you later!” You ran off before he could say anything else.
Jisung was quick to grab the bracelet and put it in his pocket making sure it was safe before going in.
“She believes in you. You can do it, Park Jisung,” he told himself and then he went on to his first class.
School went by and it wasn't as horrible as he thought. There was a new student, who introduced himself as Chenle—he was a transfer student from China. Jisung took this as an opportunity, he went and introduced himself and helped him throughout the whole day, making sure the new kid knew where his classes were, who his teachers were etcetera… He made sure to make a good impression hoping that Chenle would want to see and talk to him again.
The last bell rang and Jisung grabbed his things. He went to his locker, put away some books and grabbed the ones that he needed. He said goodbye to Chenle and went to his school's exit.
“Jisung!” You waved your hand so he would be able to see you.
He smiled to himself and he jogged to be by your side.
“So, how was school?”
Jisung told you everything about his hopefully new friend and the way you looked at him, made his little heart race. He was so happy not only because he was able to talk to someone but because you were so proud of him. After his little ramble he asked about your day, you told him about how boring it was and how teachers were already nagging you about your twin. You also told him about your new friends and about the classes you were excited for.
“Well here we are,” you said while stopping by Jisung's house first. “See you tomorrow.” You gave him a smile and fixed your hair once again, making Jisung notice about your missing bracelet.
“Wait!” He noticed he yelled so he cleared his throat to play it off. “Here.” He reached for his pocket and got the bracelet out. “It fell this morning so I kept it with me to give it back, I know how much it means to you.”
“Oh my god, my bracelet!” You grabbed it and quickly put it on so it won't fall again. “Thank you so much! You literally saved my life.” You hugged him tightly, not being able to know how else you can express your gratitude.
When your arms surrounded Jisung, he couldn't help but feel warm and fuzzy, he knew his cheeks were red and he really hoped you didn't notice how fast his heart was racing. He hugged you back and it felt nice. Your hair smelled like vanilla, your perfume like roses, you engulfed him but he didn't care, he was happy to drown in your embrace.
After breaking the hug you said goodbye once again, you thanked him and finally, you gave him a little kiss on his cheek. He watched you until you were inside your home and you closed the door; he just stood there, being dumbfounded, grabbing the cheek you pecked.
“Jisung? Aren't you coming in?” His mom snapped him out of his trance. “C’mon, food's getting cold.”
Jisung went on with his day but he couldn't stop thinking about you. He couldn't stop thinking about how cute you looked with your new uniform, or how good you looked with your long hair, or how your hug made him feel so soft and he definitely couldn't stop thinking about the kiss. That little kiss, that meaningless kiss that only showed your gratitude, that insignificant kiss that meant everything for him. His cheeks flush all over again no matter how many times he thought about it.
He was on his bed, trying to sleep, but he was wide awake, his chest heavy and his mind was empty, only you in it. He didn't understand why. Why was he thinking so much about his friend? Why did that hug feel so nice? Why did that kiss make him so flustered? Why couldn't he get you out of his mind? Or maybe he knew, maybe he had known for a while but he didn't want to admit it…
“Oh no…”
Tumblr media
He was 15 years old when he realized he was in love with you.
It was the beginning of the second semester of Jisung’s first highschool year, he was still a freshman while you were in your junior year. You were quite popular alongside your brother, having friends in all the years, especially seniors, therefore you were always invited to the parties. This year you invited Jisung to one alongside his friend Chenle, it was his first time attending a party from upperclassmen. He was making sure his hair looked nice, and that his outfit seemed neat, he was nervous as always.
“Stop, you're gonna mess your hair even more,” Chenle said with a mocking tone.
“Oh no, my hair looks messy?” Chenle let out a big laugh by seeing his scared eyes.
“I was joking, geez.”
“You're such an asshole, you know how nervous I get when I'm with her.”
“I know, because you love her.” Chenle’s singsong tone made Jisung even angrier.
“I don't love her.”
“Oh please, yes you do! You're so in love with her, it's painful to watch, dude.”
Jisung was about to say something but he was stopped by the sound of his doorbell.
“Jisung! Y/n is here, hurry!” his mom shouted from downstairs.
They quickly grabbed their stuff and they went downstairs. He stopped midway by seeing you, being totally enamoured by the sight of you. You put makeup on, enhancing your beauty, the gloss made your lips look plumper—he could only think of how much he wanted to kiss them. You cut your hair after years of having it long, he thought you looked adorable but somehow you also looked a little more mature, as if having long hair gave you a kind of child-like aura. Your outfit was heavily planned but it seemed effortless and he smiled seeing you were wearing the jacket he gifted you for your last birthday.
“Wow,” he whispered to himself. You landed your eyes on him and his heart skipped a beat.
“C'mon Sung, Hyuck is waiting and you know how whiny he can get.” He snapped out of his trance and followed you out after saying goodbye to his mom.
“Don't worry Mrs. Park, you know I'll take good care of him.” Jisung's mom smiled. She loves the fact that you have stayed loyal to the promise you made to her 10 years ago.
As soon as you entered the car, you grabbed the aux cord and started playing one of your playlist, making your twin nag and try to steal the cord from you. You turned the volume knob so you wouldn't be able to hear him, making the younger ones laugh and your twin to stick his tongue out to you; you answered the same way, a thing you have done ever since you were little.
You sang all the way to the house, laughing at your horrible voice but you didn't care, you still sang with all of your energy. Haechan parked the car and you entered the party together, your twin was quick to disappear making Jisung nervous but when he felt your hand in his, rubbing his knuckles like you always do, he could feel his heart easing down, it also helped seeing Jaemin and Renjun. They were Haechan's friends first but since Jisung hung out with you two almost everyday, they eventually became his friends as well.
You never left Jisung's side, you know he can get really nervous whenever he's in a new social situation, and a senior party is a very wild place to be, one that you know Jisung is not really used to. You took Chenle and Jisung to the dance floor, you gave them stuff to drink -not alcohol because you know Mrs. Park would kill you-, you introduced them to your friends and you made sure they were feeling comfortable.
While you were doing all of that, Jisung couldn't stop looking at you, being so grateful to you for not leaving them; everyone noticed his heart eyes towards you but no one said anything about it, instead they planned a little something.
“Let's play spin the bottle!” Jaemin said with excitement while he shook the empty bottle in his hand.
“For real? What are we, five?” you said, mocking him.
“C'mon y/n, don't be like that, it'll be fun.” Yeji, your other best friend besides Jisung, nudged your arm and made you sit down next to her. Renjun made Jisung and Chenle sit down in front of you.
“Let 's go,” Jaemin said with a grin as he spinned the bottle.
At the end of the day you were having fun, if people weren't able to kiss they had to take a shot, seeing their faces after it made you laugh so hard; Jisung couldn't take his eyes off you.
“Okay, miss y/n, your turn.” Renjun placed the bottle in the middle and gave you a mischievous smile.
You gave the bottle a spin. Everyone was paying attention, hoping it landed on Jisung. The younger one watched the bottle spin until it stopped, everyone went quiet by seeing in who it landed.
“Guess, we have to kiss now?” you said while looking at Jeno.
“I guess we do.” He smiled and got near you.
You met him halfway and connected your lips. The kiss lasted seconds but to Jisung it seemed hours. He despised every moment of it and a sigh of relief left his lips when you two broke the kiss. He gave Jeno a death glare. He hated him and he wanted him to disappear forever. When he looked at you his heart sank. His hope was gone. He started shaking slightly out of fear. You were happy, hell, more than happy. You were thrilled. Your eyes were glowing with eagerness, they only glowed like that when you were really excited or when you were overwhelmed in the best way possible. You liked Jeno, even if you weren't aware of it yet Jisung knew because he knew you better than himself. He knew all of your mannerisms, your habits and after 10 years of friendship he was an expert at reading your eyes. It broke him knowing you were glowing because of Jeno, and not because of him.
“I have to go and get some fresh air, my head is starting to ache,” he announced. Not that many were paying attention to him anyway.
He quickly stood up and went to the backyard of the house. The party was there too, but the music wasn't as loud, and it wasn't as crowded. He found a lonely corner and he went there for a little while, thinking about why it hurt so much if it was only a little crush, a little crush that had been going strong for 5 years now.
“Oh no,” he said when it hit him. “Oh no, please no.” He massaged his temples, maybe that would help with the now real headache that was happening. “Fucking hell, why me?” He said looking up, asking the stars for an answer. “Why would you do this to me?” He looked directly at the moon who looked beautiful as always, trying to find comfort but it didn't work; she had always been helpful but that night, that night it felt as if she was mocking him and it didn't help the fact that it was in a waxing crescent. She was smiling down at him, it seemed as if she was laughing.
“Who are you talking to?”
“Ah! Fuck!” He jumped on his spot and put a hand on his chest trying to control his racing heart. “Don't do that, you scared the shit out of me!” He smacked Chenle's arm while the other tried to control his laughter.
“I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you,” he said in between giggles. “Are you okay?”
“Yeah, why wouldn't I be?”
“Well you stormed out of the room, and then I caught you talking to yourself outloud. I don't know how to tell you this but that's not normal dude.” The mocking tone in his voice made the younger one roll his eyes.
“I knew that.”
“As much as I love making fun of your antics, can you tell me what's wrong? Is it because y/n kissed Jeno?” Jisung stayed quiet but he didn't have to say anything, his face, especially his eyes gave away the answer. “Of course it's that.” Chenle looked up and a sigh left his lips. “It's just a stupid game Jisung, don't take it seriously.”
“No, you don't know her like I do, you didn't notice but it meant more to her, it was more than just a stupid kiss to her.” He looked down and his hand found its way to his eyes, in an attempt to stop the tears from coming down. “You couldn't see it but her eyes screamed with excitement. Ugh! This is bad! This is terrible!” His hands proceeded to pass through his hair, messing it up but at this point, the boy didn't care if it was messy or not.
“Oh, c'mon dude, calm down.”
“I can't because you were right.”
“About what?”
“I do love her.”
“What?” The confusion was evident in his face, but then it hit him. “Holy shit! Are you for real? Bro I was joking, like I knew you had a big crush on her but I never thought it was this serious.”
“Yeah, I thought so too but seeing her kiss Jeno.” He rubbed his eyes and then he let out a tired sigh. “It made me so angry? No, is not that. Sad?”
“Disappointed,” Chenle finished his sentence. He always knew what Jisung meant even when Jisung himself couldn’t find the right word.
“Yeah. I felt my heart sink, it broke me a little.”
“Shit, dude.”
“I know.” He leaned on the wall and slowly slid down until he was sitting on the floor.
Chenle sat down by his side, he sneaked his arm around Jisung's shoulders and patted him softly, trying to comfort his friend.
“Tell her.”
“What?”
“About how you feel.”
“Are you stupid? No way, she will never feel the same. She only sees me as her neighbour.”
“Oh, c'mon, you know that's not true. She hates it when you say that, you're her friend.”
“Exactly, we're friends, I don't want to ruin that.”
“What makes you so sure it will ruin your friendship?”
“Because she won't reciprocate my feelings and then it will be awkward and little by little, we will drift apart and I don't want that, I can't have that.” He was exhausted.
“It will be okay dude.” Chenle hugged him.
“No it won't.” He looked up once again.
The moon was no longer mocking him, she was inconsolable. She knew how heartbroken the boy was and it made her angry not knowing how to comfort him. She had been helpful towards the boy for years now, always making him feel safe whenever he sought calmness, but tonight she cried alongside him.
Tumblr media
He was 16 years old when he got in a fight.
You and Jeno were going strong, almost a year has passed since that party and 10 months since you started dating.
He hated every single second of it. It broke him having to hear you talk about how dreamy he was, and how he's the best boyfriend and the worst thing is that he wanted to hate him, but he couldn't. He made you so happy, and that was what mattered. He suffered but seeing your smile was worth all the pain.
Your graduation was coming, meaning prom was just around the corner. Of course you got Jisung and Chenle tickets, you wanted to spend the night with the people closest to you. It was going to be the perfect night, you made sure of it. In fact the only reason why you wanted to be president of the student council was to have full control of prom night; no one was going to ruin your special night.
You ran down the stairs the second you heard the ringbell. You opened the door and Jisung was there, waiting for you.
“Jesus, Jisung, hurry up!” You dragged him inside by his arm, making him lose his balance and almost falling. “We don't have much time!” He straightened his position and acted as if nothing happened.
“Isn't it at like 9?” he asked, confused.
“Yeah, so what?”
“Y/n, it's 2pm, I think we have plenty of time.” There was a mocking tone in his voice, making you death glare at him, his smile disappeared in seconds.
“We have to go pick up your suit and Hyuck's, then my dress, then I have to come back here to drop both of you off, then I have to go to my hair and makeup appointment and then come back once again to finish getting ready, plus I have to be like an hour early since I'm the president.”
“Why do you have to drop us off? We'll go with you.”
“Really? You don't mind?”
“Not at all, it'll save us lots of time.”
“Thank you.” Your eyes were soft and the gratitude was evident in your tone. “Okay then let's go. Lee Donghyuck get your ass down now!” Jisung covered his ears, he didn't expect that scream. “Shit, sorry.” You laughed, making him smile.
“Dude, don't scream!” Haechan made an act of presence. “I'm here, don't get all crazy, geez.”
“Stop whining and get your ass moving.” And it only took one glare to make him silent and obedient.
You may look like your dad but you had the same glare as your mom, making your brother very scared of you. This always made Jisung laugh, he never gets to see Haechan like this, so it's a treasure when he witnesses it.
“What are you laughing about? Move!” you said with a stern tone.
“Yes, ma'am.” He saluted and finally got out of the house.
Both of you were halfway to the car when you noticed Haechan was still at the entrance, picking up the mail.
“Hyuck, it's not the time! Move!”
“It has the logo of The University of Sydney.” He showed a medium size envelope. “This is it y/n.” The colour left your face, your heart dropped to your stomach, you started shaking and your legs went limp.
You went on a family vacation to Australia a few years ago and you loved every second of it. You automatically fell in love with Sydney and when you visited the university's campus with your brother you knew you had to attend that school. It had the best program for you, the classes were amazing with very famous professors. It was your perfect school.
Inside that envelope was the answer to your future. It stated if you were accepted into your dream college or if you were rejected; only the thought of not being able to go made you dizzy. You lost your balance but thank god for Jisung who was fast enough to catch you.
“I can't, you do it.” You looked at your brother with pleading eyes. Your lips and throat went dry, making your voice sound out a little broken.
“No fucking way!” Haechan refused immediately and got closer to Jisung. “You do it.” He handed him the envelope and Jisung was hesitant to take it.
“I don't know if I should.”
“Please, for me? I can't bring myself to do it, Sung.” He looked at you and he melted; your eyes were literally begging him, how could he say no?
“Fine.” He let go of you with delicacy and grabbed the envelope.
He opened it and took out the letter slowly, afraid that it might rip if he hurried. All eyes were on him while he read the inside, no one could decipher what it said, his face was expressionless. Jisung read it slowly, making sure to comprehend what it said, to save himself the confusion and a possible breakdown from you if he said anything wrong. It's been only a few minutes but to everyone it felt like hours, you wanted to know but at the same time you didn't. You can't be rejected if you never knew the contents of the letter, right? Your brother, on the other hand, was impatient.
“Say something already!” He startled everyone with his loud scream.
Jisung looked at you with a little smile on his lips. He didn't have to say anything, you knew by looking into his eyes that everything was okay. You laughed and your eyes started to water and you were quick to engulf the younger one in your embrace. He held you close, savouring the moment since it may be one of the lasts for a long time.
“Why are you hugging? Holy shit y/n, are you crying? What's going on?!”
“She got in.” The look on his eyes was filled with pride and happiness.
He knew how hard you worked for this. He was there pulling all nighters by your side, being your number one hype man, having your back in the highs and lows. Jisung was there for you throughout the whole journey and to be honest, you couldn't imagine anyone else by your side, you were glad it was him.
“Holy shit!” Your brother took you in his arms and hugged you, while making you jump and spin around together. “I'm so proud of you! You're going abroad! You're gonna live by yourself! You're getting everything you’ve always dreamed of!”
“I know!” You match your brother's excited tone. “I gotta tell Jeno.” And just like that, Jisung's smile disappeared. Good for him that you didn't notice.
After telling Jeno, your parents and Jisung's parents you finally went on with your day, and the busy schedule that you had ahead.
After picking up the suits you went to pick up your dress. It was beautiful, a midnight blue dress with a subtle glitter to it, making it look like the night sky, it was backless and it had spaghetti straps. You didn't know this but Jisung convinced your mom to tell him the colour of your dress so he could buy the same colour tie. He wasn't going to be your date, but the least he wanted was to match. Then it was the hair and makeup appointment, Jisung and Haechan went to a nearby cafe to kill time while they waited for you, it was going to take a while.
“How are you feeling?” he asked your brother when they're sitting down with some coffee and pastries.
“A little bored but you know once we arrive at the party I'll be the star of the night.” A smirk on his lips, making the younger one laugh.
“I meant, how do you feel knowing she's going away?” Haechan's smile disappeared and his eyes lost their playful glint.
“I'm happy for her.” He meant it but his voice had a bitter tone.
“Come on dude, it's me.” Haechan looked at him and found comfort in his eyes. In that moment he finally realised why you always did it, Jisung had the ability to let everyone feel at ease just by looking into his eyes.
He lets out a sigh before speaking.
“I'm happy for her, I really am but…” He played with the spoon of his drink, to calm his nerves. “I'm really gonna miss her…”
“Yeah, me too.”
“No, Jisung you don't get it.” His tone was quickly changed for a serious one, his eyes went from sorrow to anger in a matter of seconds and his jaw tensed. “She has been by my side literally my whole life, she's my other half… We're the sun and the moon… How am I going to live without her here with me?”
“Hey, it'll be okay, it's not like she's gone forever.” The younger one talked with his softest voice. “She's gonna visit and you know she'll come back. She will never leave you behind, at the end of the day, you are her other half as well.”
“Yeah I guess…” He finally looked up from his drink. “Thanks, Jisung.”
“No problem.” He gave him a smile which was reciprocated quickly and Haechan's eyes came back to being soft and happy again.
A little while went by when you appeared at the coffee shop all dolled up. You looked beautiful; your hair was styled making your face look even prettier and the make up was perfect, it accentuated your features. Jisung couldn't take his eyes off of you. He was hypnotised, and being honest, he didn't want to be freed from your spell.
“Holy shit dude,” your brother let out. “You look really pretty.”
“Wow, you really mean that?” The nervousness was evident in your voice.
You weren't really sure about your makeup, you felt as if it was too much, and it made you feel a little insecure. The shades of colour that the woman picked weren't exactly in your comfort zone but you trusted her because at the end of the day, she was the expert.
“Hundred percent! You look stunning! Right, Jisung?” He elbowed the younger one, trying to find support from him.
Jisung was caught off guard since he was paying his undying attention to you. He snapped out of it and he went silent for a second. His cheeks were red, his mouth went dry and his hands were slightly shaking.
“Yes, you look stunning.” His voice was almost nonexistent, he was afraid you weren't able to hear him but the smile on your face and the slight blush creeping up gave it away.
“Thanks, Sungie.” The softness in your voice made him lightheaded. “Let's move, we still have to go home and finish.”
The way back home was fun. You had the best taste in music and a talent of always picking the perfect songs for the right moment. The vibes were never off when you were the one in control of the music.
When you arrived everyone went to their respective homes, you gave them until 7:45 to be ready or else you would leave without them, your glare made them both know you were dead serious.
Jisung was in his room, he already had his suit on and once again he was struggling with his tie, he never got the hang of it. After failing for the fifth time he let out a tired sigh and went to his mom. He peeped his head into his parents room and found his mom in her bed reading a book. His dad was nowhere to be seen since he was out on a business trip.
“What's up Jisung?” She didn't even have to look up, she felt her son's presence in a second.
“Can you help me with my tie?” He was a little embarrassed when it hit him. He was a 16 year old boy who still needed help from his mom. It was quite adorable, really.
“Of course, baby.” Her mocking tone made his cheeks get redder.
“Ugh mom!” She laughed by hearing his whining and that made him smile.
She got up and went closer to her son. She made the knot smoothly. Jisung was amazed with the fastness and how easy she made it look. His mom fixed his tie, then his collar and finally his blazer. He looked dashing, his hair was styled away from his forehead and she was proud knowing it was all his doing.
“You look so handsome.”
“Thanks, mom.” The shyness was evident in his voice and he scratched the nape of his neck.
“So…”
“So… ?” he asked, confused.
“Is this the night?”
“The night of what?”
“The night you confess your feelings for y/n?”
“Oh my god, mom!” He was sick and tired of hearing this.
His mom found out about his crush on you even before he even realised, and she has insisted her son to confess for years now. She rooted for you knowing how enamoured he was, she also knew you had certain feelings for him, even though you weren't aware, moms always know best.
“What?” She crossed her arms and raised an eyebrow, looking at her son in an accusatory way.
“She has a boyfriend, and she’s going away soon. Why even bother?”
“You have loved her for years Jisung, how much longer can you keep this a secret?”
“As long as necessary.” His serious tone made her mom sighed. “It's her night, I don't want to ruin it.”
“Fine.” He noticed the sadness in her eyes and he was quick to hug her.
“It's okay mom, I'm okay,” he whispered and his mom tightened the hug.
“Go, or you'll be late.”
He broke the embrace, he gave her a sweet kiss on the cheek and he finally got out. He went back to his room and checked himself on the mirror one last time. He fixed a stray hair, he put on some rings, his watch (which you gifted him), a necklace and then he covered himself with some perfume (one that he knew was your favourite). He said goodbye to his mom and got out of the house.
He was surprised by the presence of Jeno at your entrance, and he was even more surprised seeing him hesitating on whether he should knock or not.
“Hey,” he said, startling the older one. Fuck, he looked good.
“Jisung, hey.” Jisung did not miss the nervous tone and his eyes were shaking, something was off with Lee Jeno, and he was going to discover what. “You look good.”
“Thanks, you too.” It hurt him saying that, knowing damn well you were gonna fall all over again for your boyfriend. “C'mon, let's get inside.” He just opened the door. It wasn't a surprise, Jisung has been coming here since he was five, it's his second home.
“I'm here!” he announced his presence so no one worries. “Jeno hyung is here too.”
“How did you get in?” Haechan was fixing his tie while coming down the stairs and he looked at Jeno confused.
“Jisung.” Jeno pointed at the younger one
“You gotta stop doing that dude,” he laughed while finally standing beside his friends.
“I will when you stop doing the same at my house.” The younger one said in a challenging manner.
“Okay fine, you win.” Haechan lifted his hands up in a sign of defeat.
“You're ready to go?” Your voice made the three guys turn their heads.
Every single one of them went silent by the sight of you. You looked absolutely stunning. The dress fitted your body in all the right places as if it was meant to be worn by you and it made your moles visible making your skin look like a starry night. The make up was perfect and your hair was also perfect, you looked perfect. Jisung's heart was racing and he was sure everyone could hear it, he couldn't take his eyes off of you, his mouth was dry and his hands were clammy.
“Wow!” Jeno was the first one to break the silence. “Holy fuck, you look stunning! I can't believe this gorgeous woman is mine!” You could feel the heat come to your face, your smile was wide and the shyness was very evident.
“Stop!” You hid your face.
“Hey don't do that, people deserve to see your beauty.” Jeno took your hands off and he let out a sigh. “Fuck,” he whispered, he cupped your cheeks with his hands and then he kissed you.
Jisung looked away with teary eyes, oh how he wished that was him.
“Sorry, I couldn't help myself,” Jeno said after breaking the kiss.
“It's okay,” you whispered. Your cheeks were on fire and your eyes were shining like a galaxy.
“Okay love birds, it's time to go.” Haechan was the first to speak after that scene. “C'mon, y/n! You were hurrying us before, move!”
“I'll kill you Hyuck.” Your voice was serious and once again, your brother lifted his hands up.
“Sorry.” And then he got out of the house.
Jeno followed him out and you were left with Jisung. You looked at him and frowned by seeing his teary eyes.
“Hey, Sung.” You came closer to him, you grabbed his hand and started caressing his knuckles with your thumb, like you always do. “What 's wrong?”
“Sorry it's just that, you look so pretty.” It may have been a half-assed lie but as long as you're happy. “And I'm happy I get to be with you during this night.”
“Of course.” Your voice was soft and your touch was delicate. “You're my best friend, of course I wanted you here, with me, during this very important night.” He let out a sad giggle. “C'mon let's go.” You didn't let go of his hand throughout the whole ride to prom.
When you arrived, Haechan and Jisung went to the gym to kill time while you made sure everything was perfect, Jeno went with you. Jisung couldn't stop looking at the both of you; you looked perfect and he loved seeing you in your president role, but Jeno, Jeno looked nervous. He followed you everywhere but he did it silently, he wasn't by your side, holding your waist like he usually does but instead he was behind you. He noticed how he was spacing out, in all this time knowing Jeno, he has never been caught off guard.
Time passed by and the party finally started. You were at the door receiving and greeting everyone while your friends and brother danced together but after a while you decided it was time to drop formalities and have fun, so you went with your friends and started dancing.
After a while you were called, it was time to announce the prom king and queen. You excused yourself and went backstage to prepare everything and made sure everything was perfect. You went up on stage, grabbed a microphone and asked for the band to turn it down a bit, making everyone whine a little but the moment they saw you up stage they knew what was happening.
“Hello everyone, are you having a good time?” The crowd answered with whoops of excitement, which made your smile grow wider. “I'm glad to hear you're having fun. Well it's that time of the night.” You showed the envelope that was in your hands and the screams were louder this time. “Inside this envelope are the names of your next prom king and queen, are you ready?”
“Yes!” everyone answered in unison, making you laugh.
“Your prom king is…” You stopped to make a pause to build up the excitement. It also bought you a little time to open the envelope. You smile by reading the name in the piece of paper, feeling proud. “Lee Jeno!” Everyone shouted and started congratulating Jeno while he walked towards the stage.
You gave him the ribbon that said “Prom King”, a little sceptre and you finally placed the crown on his head. You congratulated him and kissed him, not caring about all the viewers.
“Okay now, the title that actually matters.” People laughed once again, making you feel a little proud, you have rehearsed that line for a month now. “And your prom queen is…” The drummer made a drum roll to build up tension and for you to read the words on the piece of paper. You smile once again. “Hwang Yeji!”
Your best friend was shocked, she didn't expect it, making the moment more genuine. Jaemin, her date, walked her through the crowd and helped her up on stage since she was still in shock. You put on the ribbon and gave her the sceptre. After crowning her you hugged her tightly.
“Congratulations babe, I'm so proud of you.”
“Thank you.” She broke the hug and waved at the audience, making them shout even louder for her.
“Okay now it's time for the king and queen's waltz so please clear the dance floor.”
People moved and the centre of the dance floor was empty. Jeno, Yeji and you got off of stage, you were quick to move aside, giving your boyfriend and friend the space so they could go and dance. You were puzzled by seeing them coming towards you and Jaemin.
“Actually.” Jeno extended his hand towards you while Yeji and Jaemin went together to the dance floor. “Will you grant me this dance, beautiful lady?”
“But you're supposed to dance with the queen, I'm not the queen.” Even though you're giving him reasons not to, you took his hand, and you let him guide you to join your friends.
“You are my queen.” You couldn't help but feel your cheeks warm. “And besides, I really doubt people will say something about it, at the end of the day, I'm the king, and you're their president.” You both laughed and finally made it to the centre of the dance floor.
You looked like the perfect couple to everyone that was watching. You and Jeno were described by your classmates as the perfect match, or a match made in heaven. To everyone, you were meant to be.
Jisung watched you from afar, being overwhelmed by all his emotions. He was admiring you and at the same time he was being jealous of Jeno, he couldn't help but feel all his love for you overflowing his heart while all of his rage went towards Jeno. He felt so happy for you, seeing that you're enjoying the night but he despised the fact that you weren't with him. And he hated himself, he hated himself for being a coward and not telling you about his feelings, because now he is suffering the consequences. It was easy for him when you were single because in a way, he still had a chance, but when you got together with Jeno, all the hope he had (which wasn't much) was gone, crushed.
He couldn't bear to look at you two anymore so he ran off out of there. He couldn't see how Jeno came close to your ear and asked you to go and talk outside. Jisung went into the first classroom, the tears were falling by themselves, he wanted them to stop but it was pointless, his heart was way too broken, the only thing it could do to fix itself was crying. His vision was blurry because of the tears so he didn't see you and Jeno coming in. He was on the other side of the room and the lights were off so he was almost invisible, neither Jeno or you noticed the younger one. Jisung hid himself when he heard the door being closed.
“What did you want to talk about?” He froze even more on his spot by hearing your voice. He knew it was wrong to eavesdrop someone's conversation but it was you.
“It's about you leaving.” Jeno's voice was really low, Jisung could barely hear it. “You know how we talked about it at the start of our relationship, you said if I felt comfortable with it we could try long distance.”
“Yeah?” Your tone was worried, Jisung could picture you perfectly, fidgeting with your bracelet.
“I don't think I can do it.” You could hear the pain in Jeno's voice and so did Jisung, even though he didn't like him, he empathized with him.
“I mean I told you about it today, and I'm not leaving until like 2 months, we can talk about it and figure it out. Think about it, please.” The pleading in your voice made Jisung sneak a peek.
You were holding Jeno's hands, your eyes were begging him and it made him furious. You should never be begging anyone to stay with you. To him, you deserve the best of the best. The rage was pooling inside of him, he almost came out and confronted Jeno.
“The thing is that I have, ever since you told me you were planning on going away I've been thinking about it. I tried y/n, I really tried but I can't.” Jisung noticed your eyes watering, his hands were in fists to the point where his knuckles were white. “I love you so much but not enough to wait for you.” In that moment you could feel your heart break, the tears streamed down automatically. Jisung couldn't contain himself anymore and he came out.
“You fucking asshole!” And after that he punched Jeno in the face, making his lip bleed. “How fucking dare you!?” And another, he could hear your screaming but he was blinded by rage. “You don't love her enough!? Then you never loved her in the first place!” And another, and another and another.
“Jisung, stop! Are you insane!?” You tried to grab him but it was useless.
Jeno was taken back at first but when the surprise passed he grabbed Jisung's hand and then he hit him back, so the fight started being reciprocated.
Jisung had the advantage since Jeno was surprised by the attack but as soon as the older one gained consciousness, Jisung started to get in trouble. Of course he knew Jeno was stronger and better, but he didn't care, he was furious. Jeno didn't appreciate you enough to try, he didn't realise how lucky he was for having you by his side, he wasn't willing to sacrifice for you the way he was. Because Jisung would do anything if it meant being by your side.
“Stop! Stop it!” You somehow got a grip on Jeno's arm and yanked him away from Jisung. “What the fuck is wrong with you!?! Are you animals!?” You were furious, Jisung has known you for years and he has never seen you this angry.
Jisung was trying to regulate his breathing as well as Jeno, none of them dared to look at you. But, you looked at both of them, feeling disappointed and heartbroken. You looked at Jisung, his nose was bleeding, his right eye started to get black and his left eyebrow was also bleeding; you looked at Jeno, his lip was bleeding and his cheekbone was red. You let out a sigh before speaking.
“Jeno, I think you should leave.” He looked at you in disbelief.
“Are you kidding me?”
“Do I look like I'm fucking kidding?” Your tone was stone cold, you have never spoken like that to him before, and it affected him. In that moment he realised how much he has hurt you.
He got up and left, none of you noticed but his eyes started to water and when he closed the door, his tears were mixing with the blood.
You broke down after seeing him leave. You couldn't hold it anymore and you just let go. You covered your mouth trying to keep it as silent as possible. You knew there was a big possibility that you and Jeno would break up if you were accepted, but you never thought Jeno would say that to you. “I love you but not enough…” It would have hurt less if he just said he hated you.
“Y/n,” Jisung said in the softest voice while he got closer to you.
“Shut up.” Your voice was broken but the anger was very noticeable. “I am furious at you so shut the fuck up and get your ass to the infirmary.” You didn't move, therefore he didn't. “Now!”
He obeyed immediately and started his way. You just needed a little time alone to get yourself together, a lot happened in a span of 10 minutes. Your boyfriend broke up with you and told you that he didn't love you enough, you're best friend heard all of it which was humiliating enough by itself, the last thing you wanted was for someone else to know; your best friend started a fight with your now ex-boyfriend and now he was on his way towards the infirmary so you could cure his wounds. Not exactly the plans you had for your prom night. You let out a last sigh, you wiped your tears away and you got out of there.
Jisung perked up in his position when he saw the door being opened and his cheeks got redder by seeing you walk in. You didn't say anything, you just went to get the stuff you needed to cure him. He looked at every move you did, he was angry at himself for causing such a scene on your prom night but he didn't regret it; if he had to, he would do it again, as many times as necessary.
He hissed when he felt the cotton swab on his injury.
“Does it hurt?” you asked in a low tone, but it was expressionless.
“It stings a little.”
“Good.”
“That's mean,” he whispered but you heard.
“I'm sorry, I'm just really mad.” He lowered his head but you made him look up again since you were treating his eyebrow's cut. “What the fuck were you thinking Park Jisung?”
“I wasn't, that's the thing.”
“What were you doing there anyway?” He panicked for a second.
“I got a little overwhelmed, I needed some air I guess.” He hated lying to you but he needed to.
“Why did you hit him?”
“Because of what he said.” His voice turns deeper, surprising you. His voice was deep but you have never heard it reach that tone. “How could he say that? He didn't know he was the luckiest guy for having you by his side, it made me furious hearing how ungrateful he was, and how much of an asshole he was to you.” You stopped treating his injury but he didn't seem to mind. “What he said was awful but when I saw how hurt you were, I couldn't let him get away like that, rage took over me.” He finally looked at you.
You tried to fight back the smile that was trying to come out by seeing how soft his eyes were, they were holding the whole galaxy, and for him they did, since he was looking at you.
“I know it was stupid since Jeno is way stronger than me but I didn't care, he hurt you and I needed to do something about it.” You hold his hands and you rub your thumb through his knuckles, he smiled while looking at the little action. “I am sorry for ruining your night but I don't regret it.”
“You don't?”
“No.”
“You're a dumbass, you know that right?”
“That 's mean.”
“Well I get to be mean.” You continued cleaning his wounds. “I'm stuck here with you instead of enjoying my prom night.”
“I'm sorry.” He lowered his head once again, his voice was full of shame and his cheeks turned red.
“Hey, I'm kidding.” You giggled softly while lifting his head up. “It was already ruined when Jeno decided to break up with me. Which was a very dick move of his, he could've at least waited for tomorrow to do it.” You giggled.
“Asshole,” Jisung said automatically, making you laugh even harder.
You finished cleaning his eyebrow wound and put on some ointment for the soreness and to help with the bruising. You then continued with the one on his lower lip. His usually plumped lip was even more swollen and it was starting to turn a subtle shade of blue and purple. He hissed once again by feeling the cotton swab with alcohol but you seemed to not care, you just focused on cleaning.
“Thank you, by the way,” you said after a while. “I'm still mad as fuck but thank you for defending me like that.” He looked at you and he fell in love all over again.
The lights of the room were off because you didn't need them, the windows did a perfect job at bringing the light from the moon and the lamp posts from outside. The moonlight hit your face in all the right places, making you look ethereal and even though you have been dancing all night and you cried, your makeup and hair were almost intact; a little out of place but you still looked as beautiful as the start of the night. Jisung could notice the anger in your eyes but he also noticed the worry, no matter how furious you were you couldn't help but worry about him.
He didn't realise what he was doing. For the second time that night, Jisung was moving out of instinct, his heart taking control instead of his brain. He got closer and closer towards you, his lips being pulled automatically towards yours as if they were magnets. And then he kissed you. It was quick and innocent, his lips barely touched yours since he snapped out of his trance but he kissed you.
Both of you were surprised, none of you knew what happened exactly. You could feel the heat coming up to your cheeks and your eyes were wide open. Jisung's heart was racing at a very concerning speed and his head was spinning. He tried to talk, tried to explain but nothing was coming out of his lips.
“Sorry, I lost my balance for a sec, maybe Jeno hit me in the head because I kind of feel a little dizzy.” He faced palmed himself in his imagination, what a shitty excuse but he couldn't come up with something better.
“Oh,” was the only thing that you could say. “No worries.”
After that you finished treating his wounds in dead silence. Jisung was cursing himself in his head. You didn't know what to think exactly, but you knew one thing for sure, you were tired.
Once you were done you came back to the gym and picked your things. You explained the situation to Yeji and begged her no to tell your brother since you knew he would cause a scene, and you didn't want to deal with that, you didn't want to deal with anything anymore. She hugged you and told you she was gonna take care of everything for you, and then she kissed your forehead before saying goodbye. After that you went to your brother to ask him for the keys, you used the tired excuse and he gave in, not because he believed you but because he was having way too much fun to care. You envied him, you envied everyone who was having fun.
When you got out of the gym you were surprised to see Jisung waiting for you by the car. He was leaning on it, his tie was loose, he took the jacket off and his sleeves were rolled up to his elbows, he looked pretty handsome.
“What are you doing?” You unlocked the car and opened the door.
“I'm going with you,” he says with an obvious tone.
“C'mon Jisung, go back inside and have fun.”
“I don't want to go inside, I want to spend the night with you, like you wanted.”
“What do you mean?”
“You said you wanted to spend the night with the people you're closest to, and not to toot my own horn but, I'm pretty sure that after Haechan hyung, I'm the one closest to you.” You laughed at his antics.
“Okay fine, you win. Get inside.”
“Yes!” He put his fist up in a sign of victory and got inside.
The drive back home was calm. The music was lower than you typically play it, the windows were down and the air was chilly but you didn't care. You stopped at a red light and turned your head towards the younger boy, he was looking out the window. Maybe your night was ruined but seeing him by your side, admiring the night sky while softly singing the songs made you realise you couldn't have asked for a better ending to the night.

It was the first time Jisung was walking alone to school ever since he was 5. You’re studying abroad, Haechan had a different schedule than him and Chenle lived in a whole other neighbourhood, which was closer to the school.
He felt alone and lost, he had ever since he said goodbye to you at the airport. You were gone and he didn't know what to do. He tried to distract himself, he started saying yes to everything Chenle had invited him to and he also hung out with Jaemin, Renjun and Haechan. He tried to avoid your house though, it hurt even seeing it from across the street knowing damn well you weren't there.
After the prom, everything was really weird. Jeno had broken up with you, so you weren't the happiest and there was a weird air between you two after the kiss that had happened. It was merely a peck but it happened and it made Jisung act even more nervous around you and it made you confused.
You didn't know how to feel, you didn't know what to think exactly. Was it really just a mistake? Did he mean to kiss you? Was it just the heat of the moment? Your head spinned for months. You were so confused, you found comfort knowing you were leaving soon. Away from all the drama and confusion.
You kept to yourself the rest of the time you had left at home, focusing on packing and making sure you had everything for your visa and other stuff you needed for school, also hiding the stuff you didn't want your twin to take once you were gone. You barely saw anyone, you never left your room unless it was really necessary; even your own family barely saw you and they lived with you. You were breaking Jisung´s heart without knowing, the younger one just wanted to spend as much time as he could with you but he loved you, and he was gonna respect your wish for privacy.
You and Jisung were barely speaking. You used university as an excuse but he knew it was something else and he didn't blame you. You were desolate because of Jeno, hell, you were heartbroken and he knew the last thing you needed was another boy to mess with your feelings (not that he would). You also had to focus on your school and he didn't want to admit it but he knew his actions on that prom night confused you and he hated himself for it. The last thing he wanted was for things to be awkward between you two, he just wanted to be with you and he missed you like crazy; your absence really took a toll on him.
You weren't able to come home during your winter and summer break, you joined too many clubs and you also joined the student council at your university; saying you were busy was nothing, you were swamped with work. You did this on purpose though, you made yourself as busy as possible so you wouldn't have to deal with your thoughts, so you wouldn't have to face your feelings and to deal with the storm happening in your head. You may not be aware of it but Jisung knew, at the end of the day, he knew you better than anyone else.
He was halfway through his walk to university when his phone rang and he was surprised by seeing your picture on the screen, you were calling him. It was weird since you weren't speaking that much and because you hate talking on the phone so much, you prefer texting people; you only called when it was urgent or an emergency.
“Hey, Sungie.” Your voice made his heart race and he was smiling, he was so happy to hear your voice he almost cried.
“Hey, is everything okay?” He was happy but he couldn't help but worry.
“Yeah, why wouldn’t it?”
“Well, you hate talking on the phone, so I thought something was wrong.” He laughed softly.
“Everything's fine, don't worry about it.” Your voice was soft but he could hear the tiredness in your tone. “Are you on your way to school right?”
“Yeah… How did you know that?” He didn't tell you about his first day, the only uni talk he has had with you was when he told you he got in, and that was it.
“Your mom called me.” He rolled his eyes by the mention of his mom.
“Of course she did.” His tone was filled with annoyance and you laughed because of it.
“Hey, give her a break, she was excited and so proud of you.”
“Still, she didn't have to worry you about it.”
“It's nothing Jisung really, I enjoyed talking to her a lot, especially since we haven't been talking that much.”
“Sorry.” He looked down and his face was filled with disappointment.
“If someone has to apologise it's me, I’m the one who has been M.I.A.”
“But I haven't made so much effort either. I wanted to give you some space.”
“Yeah I know. Thanks...” Your tone fell flat near the end, you were disappointed as well. You didn't want space, not from him at least.
“Why are you calling though? You never call.”
“Oh, yeah, well…I wanted to keep the tradition going somehow.” You let out a nervous laugh and even though he couldn't see you, he knew you were fidgeting with your bracelet. “I didn't want you to walk to school alone.”
“I'm really thankful, but don't you have classes? If you're skipping them I swear I’ll go to Australia myself and get your ass back to class.”
“Woah woah! Easy there tiger.” Your laughter made his heart race. “I have a free period, I'm actually getting some coffee.”
“Oh okay, good.” His cheeks turned a very bright shade of red and this was the first time he thanked the moon you weren't there to see his embarrassment.
An awkward silence fell upon you. This has never happened, not even when you were kids and meeting for the first time. You always made sure to fill in the silence but now, you didn't know how to. You hated this, you hated feeling awkward with your own best friend, the guy that you had known for 13 years.
You cursed yourself and him as well. How did you allow stuff to get so complicated? Why did he have to kiss you? You broke your head for several months trying to decipher what the hell was that. It was the only thing you could think of after that night. Not your break up, not your prom, not the fight but that stupid kiss, that stupid kiss that could barely even be considered one. Jisung only touched your lips for a mere second but it scarred you for life. You didn't know why, but that kiss meant a lot to you.
And why on earth were you glad he did? You thought about how much you wished that kiss didn’t happen but being honest, you liked it, a lot, more than you should’ve. You may be in a weird place with your best friend but if you could erase that peck you wouldn’t.
“I hate this, Sung,” you said, referring to the mess happening in your head. “I hate not being able to talk to you.” Your eyes were starting to fill with tears, thank god your voice was still stable. “I want you back, I want my best friend back, my partner, my favourite person.”
“I'm your favourite person?” He was taken back and in shock, he always thought Haechan was your favourite person, your twin, your other half, your sun.
“You’ve always been.” A tear streamed down your cheek but you were quick to wipe it. “I need you Jisung, I miss you like crazy, I want to be with you and be able to talk the way we used to. You have no idea how much I need you to hug me.” And finally your voice failed you. Jisung’s heart sank by hearing your voice break.
“Me too, you can't even begin to imagine.” He blinked rapidly trying to avoid the tears to escape his eyes.
“How did we let this happen?”
“I don't know.”
“We promised nothing was gonna change after me leaving.”
“I know.”
“Then why is everything different?”
“Because…” He wanted to tell you, he wanted to confess but the words got stuck once again. He didn't want to do it like that, during a phone call while you were kilometres away. “We're dumb?” Your laughter made the ambience lighter.
“Yes, we’re very, very dumb.” You wiped a few tears away and cleared your throat. “Let's start being smart again.”
“How?”
“We’re gonna try talking more, send a text once in a while, whenever we remember each other, like we used to.”
“Okay.”
“We could also do homework together, we could schedule a weekly video call so we can catch up, talk about our life or not talk at all.”
“I really miss you recommending songs to me,” he confessed.
“I really miss you sending me pics of the moon.” You laughed once again, making the younger one sigh heavily, he was completely enamoured by you.
“I missed your laugh.” It was a bold move from him but he felt he was gonna explode if he didn't say it.
Your cheeks were warm and you hid them with your hands even though he wasn't there. He made you feel shy, which was very rare.
“I missed your voice, is it getting deeper?”
“I don't think so.”
“It better not or else I'll lose my mind.”
“Why?” he asked curiously.
“Well you know how much of a sucker I am for a dude with a deep voice…” The verbal vomit came out by itself, you weren't aware of what you were saying until you heard nothing from the other line. “Damn, I fucked up,” you whispered but he heard you.
“No, no, it's okay, I knew that.” He cleared his throat in an attempt to calm his nervousness. “I'm sorry but it's something I can't control, you’ll just have to deal with it.” His mocking tone filled you with relief.
“I’ll try my best, but I don't make any promises.” You followed his joke up, thanking him for not making it weird again.
“I'm here,” he announced when he arrived at his school’s entrance.
“Good luck Sungie, remember that anyone would be lucky to have you as a friend.”
“Thank you.” He smiled and looked down trying to hide his blush.
“Let me know when you're done so we can talk on your way back home, okay?”
“Yes, ma'am.”
“I mean it, Jisung.” The seriousness in your tone gave you away.
“I know.” He let out a few giggles. “Thank you for calling me.”
“Well, you know how I am, I love our little traditions.”
“I love that you do.”
“Bye Sung, good luck.”
“Bye y/n.” And after that you hung up.
He felt a weight being lifted away from his shoulders, his heart felt lighter and he was beyond happy knowing that you two were going to be okay. It may not be exactly like it used to but it was better than nothing.

He was 19 years old when he confessed his love towards you.
After that call on his first day of university, your relationship started blooming again. You both kept your promises and started texting and calling each other more and more, just like the old times. You made several video calls where you would talk for hours, from dusk till dawn or you would stay quiet and just enjoyed each other's presence. Jisung always sent you pictures of the moon and you started sending him songs that you thought he would like, you even started making him several playlists; he always listened to them on repeat.
Winter break came and you were finally able to go back home, you noticed how much you loaded yourself with work to avoid the whole Jisung situation but since you two were fine now, you gave yourself a break. Everyone was head over heels when you told them you were coming back home after a while of not being able to. You longed to spend christmas and new years with your family but especially with Jisung, since this was the year he would finally reach age, he would be able to drink and you wanted to be there.
Your parents picked you up at the airport, both ran towards you and engulfed you in a big hug, a suffocating one actually. After a very emotional welcome from them, you finally went up to the car and made your way home. Haechan received you at the door and your father announced to you that Jisung was also there, your eyes lighted up and you were quickly to look for him, only to find him standing there waiting for you. You were surprised by looking at how much he grew, and when he spoke you felt your legs wobbling slightly by hearing his deep voice. You engulfed him in a hug and then you dragged him and your brother towards the living room to catch up. It was very late at night when Jisung had to return home, in all the time he was there you couldn’t stop looking at him, you were hypnotised.
Christmas passed by and it was one of the best you had celebrated. Your family and Jisung’s always celebrated it together, the dinner was made by your mom and Jisung’s mom while your fathers were in charge of the drinks. As always everything was wholesome and you had the best time ever.
Time passed by and new years came by, Yeji invited you to a party but you didn’t stay much since you wanted to be with Jisung on his first night as an adult, sadly when you arrived he was already drunk thanks to you brother and his friends. He took you out to the backyard and he confessed his feelings for you in his drunken state, taking you by surprise. Even though you weren’t sure about your own feelings you told him that you can figure them out together and then you kissed him properly this time. You weren’t sure why you did it but you didn’t regret it. It felt nice, it felt familiar and it made you feel warm. It was the best way to start the new year.
After that night Jisung made his life mission to help you figure out what your heart wanted. He was finally able to act according to his feelings, he didn’t hold back and made sure to prove to you that he meant every single thing he said during that new years night. He spent months clearing all of your doubts, answering all of your questions and giving you the assurance you needed. After all his efforts, support and patience you realised that you wanted Jisung, you realised that your heart longed for him.
During summer break he picked you up at the airport and asked you to be his girlfriend and you accepted gladly; you sealed the deal with a kiss full of affection, it was desperate in a way, you have yearned to feel his lips on yours once again. After that day you spend your summer by Jisung’s side, it was as if you were glued together. Wherever you went Jisung was following and vice versa.
Two months have passed, your break is almost over, meaning that you would have to go back to school very soon. Jisung, knowing this, never left your side. He wanted to spend every single moment you had left home with you.
“The summer went by so fast,” he said in a whisper while you were at the kitchen making a midnight snack; actually he was sitting while you were the one cooking, not letting him get near the kitchen since he would probably light it on fire.
“I know,” you said while dicing some veggies for your ramen. “For the first time, I'm not as excited to go back.”
“For the first time?” he asked confusedly while he stared at you.
“Yeah, I don't love leaving home but I'm always really excited to go back, living on my own and having independence, you know?” He just nodded, not knowing exactly what to answer. “I know it may sound a little selfish but I always loved going back but now, it's so different.”
“Why?”
“Because of you.” You both felt your cheeks warming up for the sudden confession. “I’m always excited to come back here and see my family, see Hyuck and my friends but ever since you confessed during new years I couldn't stop thinking about coming back home and seeing you.” Jisung stood up silently so he wouldn't interrupt you. “I wanted to hang out with you, spend time with you, see your cute face everyday, I was desperate to be with you.” You smiled while feeling his arms sneak around your waist, and you let out a soft giggle while feeling his face burning in your neck. “I yearned for you so fucking much.” He left a soft kiss on your neck, then your shoulder and your neck once again, he was drowning in your scent.
“God, I fucking love you.” It was a whisper. It was innocent and said out of instinct, he didn't even realise what he just said until you left his side.
“What!?”
“Nothing.” He was ready to leave but your hand on his wrist stopped him. You made him face you.
“That was not nothing.” He didn't dare to look at you. “What did you just say Park Jisung?” Your tone was demanding and serious, not in an aggressive way but you wanted an answer.
After a long pause he finally got the courage he needed to say those words again.
“I said that I love you.” His voice was barely a whisper but because you were alone, you were able to hear him clearly. “You don't have to say anything, I know it's way too soon to say stuff like this since we've been in a relationship for just 2 months but I have loved you since before.” Because he's looking down he didn't realise you're coming closer to him. “I'm sorry if it freaked you out and I totally understand if you want to take some time apart, to be honest, I wouldn't blame you.” He let out a soft giggle which was full of embarrassment. “I'll just go…”
You stopped him once again and he finally looked up at you. You cupped his face with your hands and you kissed him.
You kissed him softly, slowly and it's intense because of the intimacy that you were sharing in that moment—you both felt like you were the only ones in the world and that time has stopped just for you. You feel like the moon and the stars are witnessing the scene with such endearment and they look down at you with the happiest of their smiles. You savoured him, you made sure to transmit all of your feelings with that kiss, you wanted him to feel safe, at ease, at home. You wanted him to feel like the only reason he was put on earth was for that moment alone, that he was meant to be by your side, just like you were meant to be by his. You engulfed him in your arms just like he did, you wanted him closer even though you couldn't be. You were desperate for him, and your heart felt like it was going to explode from all the love that you feel for this boy.
You broke the kiss but you were still in his embrace and he was in yours; your foreheads were touching, both of you had your eyes closed, feeling each other's breaths in your faces, but neither of you seemed to mind.
“I love you too,” your tone was sure and confident. You then opened your eyes to see his reaction.
His eyes lit up and his smile was the biggest you have ever seen and if your vision isn't failing you, you think his eyes were watering.
“Really?” His voice was soft, and it broke a little because of the knot in his throat.
“Really.” You could see a little tear running down and you were quick to wipe it off with your thumb.
“Shit, sorry.” He let out a nervous giggle while he wiped yet another tear. “I'm just really fucking happy.” You couldn't help but start tearing up as well. “No wait, don't cry.” He panicked and then cupped your cheeks in between his big hands. They were cold compared to your very warm face.
“I can't help it, you know how I always cry whenever you do.” You sniffled and he laughed at you. You looked so adorable trying to hold in your tears.
He wiped your tears with such delicacy, he then proceeded to put your hair behind your ears and then he left a soft kiss on your forehead so he could finally hug you; you buried your face in his chest and he rested his chin on the top of your head.
“Just like when we were kids,” you let out and he laughed once again.
“Just like when we were kids,” he repeated, voice full of adoration.
Jisung has never been great with words but he somehow knew what to do to comfort you whenever you cried in front of him (which was very, very rare). He always started by wiping your tears away, he always did it in the softest way possible, as if you were made of glass; his fingers always felt cold against your skin but you never minded. He then helped you get your hair fixed, placing the stray strands where they belonged and then tugging some behind your ears to finally leave a little kiss on your forehead. He knew all of that was good but it wasn't enough so he would seal the deal with a hug. A hug that always felt so soft and warm, a hug that always felt familiar and comfortable, a hug that made you feel you belonged with him. You fitted in his embrace perfectly just like he fitted in yours.
You were meant to be together. It was a bumpy ride, with its highs and lows but you were meant to be. Everyone knew it, even the moon who would always watch over you two, waiting patiently. Even the stars, who would always light up your path so you could find your way to each other.
You stay like that for a while, enjoying the domestic moment, not wanting to let go until you hear the pot overflowing.
“Shit, our food!” You broke the hug and turned to the stove.
You put the pot out of the fire and you turn the flame off. The food was ruined and the kitchen was a mess.
“Man, and you said I was a terrible cook,” Jisung said with a mocking tone.
“Oh, shut up,” you said annoyedly while you try to clean up your mess. “This is all your fault.”
“My fault?” he asked in disbelief.
“Yes! If you weren't being all romantic and sentimental our ramen wouldn't have died like this.”
“I'm sorry for saying that I love my girlfriend, it won't happen again.”
“Wait no, I want to hear it again.” You panicked by hearing him. “I want to hear it a million times.”
“Oh good, because I was joking,” he said while helping you clean. “Now that I've said it, now that is finally out of my system, it's the only thing that I want to say to you.”
“Good because it's the only thing that I want to hear.”
You finished cleaning up and you're quick to put your arms around his neck, pulling him closer. You left a kiss on his lips and started preparing the food again.
After finishing cooking and eating together you cleaned everything once again to finally go back to your room and get some sleep. You wiggled your way back to your bed, got into position and waited for Jisung to lay down so you could finally get 100% comfortable. After waiting patiently for you, he then plopped down next to you, he pulled you closer and he buried his face in the space between your neck, he loved getting drunk in your scent.
After getting into a position where the two of you were comfortable you were quick to fall asleep, you didn't even notice you forgot to close your window´s curtains, you were gonna regret that in the morning.
The night sky was clear, the moonlight sneaked in your room giving you two the perfect glow. The moon smiled by seeing you together, she was proud to see you could finally find your way to each other. The stars were beaming even harder, they couldn't hide their happiness. They worked so hard for you and seeing you together made them shine even brighter, they were glowing.
