I knew Stain was gonna die because he wasn’t a LoV villain but I'm still bummed.

Like he wanted to die, so he got what he wanted, but I sorta hoped it would be a bit more heroic, I guess. I mean, he honestly didn't do anything helpful except cheer on All Might and get killed. Just like with his past contribution, he could have been removed, and nothing changes.

I will forever be disappointed we never got tenya meeting him again or even thinking about him given this was supposed to be the villain redemption arc.

I also find it funny that so far, he's the only villain that has died trying to actually stop AfO/trying to do good. Like yes, Toga might have died saving Ochako, but it was from a wound she gave her. Meanwhile, Touya might have had his last breath, wishing his family was dead.

I'm just bummed it was so pointless and quickly moved on from. It wasn't even the end of the chapter. AfO turns him into juice, and that's the end of it--on to All Might, thinking of his other dead friends.

Which, yes All Might is far more important then Stain, but it does make it feel as if Hori just tossed him in so AfO got a kill and he tied up a lose end as fast as possible.

Given the past villain death scare chapters, I know hori can do touching ends. Like it would not have killed him to have a one panel flash back of Stain as a kid holding an All Might doll when he thinks about how he didn’t even have a high school education. It would have humanized him before becoming a blood splatter and renforced that villains used to be kids once.

Instead, we get panels of him sniffing blood on rocks. 😒

Have you played PuyoPuyo 7? If so, what do you think about it?

good timing anon, i actually replayed it pretty recently with a friend of mine (wanted to play the recent re-translation, very much recommend it, its much better than Nexus's halfhearted mess) so my opinions on it are fresh!!

the short answer is. Its so jank. and probably objectively not a very good game, and there are definitely things i would change about it if i could. But i still really like it for what it is. It's got a unique identity in the series and I love that about it!

im gonna talk a lot now so under the readmore this goes ^_^

i love that transformation mode is just if fever rules were an insane mess. why does it go up to 99 seconds. why does mega mode send SO much damage. god bless it<3 they should bring it back. wanna see what hellfire comet festivals shibakazu would cook up in it.

and like the story is.... not. well paced. but ive learned to laugh about it at least. and like suuuuuure ecolo shows up at the end and then hypes up how unstoppably powerful they are and how ringo could NEVER BEAT THEM and then gets defeated in 10 seconds because the final boss is a joke. its fine<3 at least its actually fun to play and doesnt take a million years to trudge through so the bad pacing doesnt feel nearly as awful. (puyo chronicle i am giving you a little glare)

ive grown to love the jank art style but i will say, i wish they redrew everyone. ringo standing next to characters clearly just with sprites edited from 15th anniversary or fever 2 make her stick out quite a bit. it makes me wonder if the game's art was really rushed or something? it just feels a bit off.

another thing, i dont think this game is a Bad introduction to ecolo at all (i Love their design in this game and i think it perfectly introduces how intensely powerful and unhinged they can be), BUT!!! their chain animations are really... disappointing. idk. i Like that they shapeshift into other characters i think thats fun (i actually think its kind of a shame its a trait of theirs rarely brought up anymore) but the fact its mostly just the others' animations recolored black with some extra particle effects is really lame. minor differences like a more ecolo-like facial expression (get silly!! get mischievous!!!) couldve gone a long way to giving them more personality in their chains.

also relating to the past two notes, its really no secret that transformation mode is... Missing. Quite a bit of assets it really should have. considering a decent handful of characters only go through very minor changes (darkle is literally just a clothing color swap) and honestly Ecolo (since all of their chains are borrowed) still only changing to feli for mini and klug for mega is SUCKS i think and it makes me the most upset out of the cast.. ecolo's already transforming when they're not in fever!!!!! lets do something else!!!!!

this is just a reaaally quick mockup scribble of an idea i had that id been discussing with my friend, but i think it'd be really fun if instead of doing a simple character shapeshift, they got real small and silly looking for their mini form and HUGE AND OVERBEARING AND INTIMIDATING for mega. the core would stay the same size, for scale! pp7 is the game that leans the hardest into ecolo being someone who can switch from silly little thang to terrifying cosmic being of sheer force on a dime, and i think itd be fun if their transformations reflected that.

like idk ecolo is the Debut final boss and (imo) one of the coolest characters in the series so i think it sucks that they got the short end of the stick in the battle animations area in this game.

like ive been saying I've grown to love many of Puyo 7's problems but this is one thing i would definitely change if i could.

tldr: no matter how many times you fill the glass, jersey kyle's is always half full -- when it's not Empty -- which it usually is because again, jersey doesn't drink anything but water or red wine. he covets cynicism, thinks everyone is secretly out to get him/preying on his downfall and that no good deed goes unpunished.

more than that...jersey’s never had a Reason to be soft.

someone asked me if kyle's ptsd goes after after he gets stan back, and yes...and no. it gets better, tbh i think taking the clozapine actually made his psychosis worse so when he got off that things were better, but getting stan back unlocked a new fear which is...

that constantly in danger of losing stan again.

so sometimes in the middle of the night if stan gets up to get a glass of water or pick up more cat food for curb, if kyle wakes up and sees stan not there, it'll trigger like a full blown panic attack where he's like "ohgodohgodohgod!! none of this was Real i just fucking hallucinated stan, this whole thing was a lie, stan is gone, stan is dead!! sTAN???"

and thinks he imagined the whole thing/stan is GONE again, start like yelling his name, freaking the fuck out, totally breaking down and stan just comes out of the kitchen w/ his glass and then immediately drops it and runs over like "ky, did you think i was gone again? :(" like putting a blanket over him and holding his face and giving him one million thousand kisses like "shhshhshh it's okay, calmate, cariño. </3 i’m here. i'm not going anywhere. you're safe. go back to sleep...

like idc idc idc if he can't say i love you, he has trauma, and the literal trauma of losing stan is a large reason why he can't say it, but also the reason why kyle is so Attached to stan when they're dating is bc when kyle thought stan was dead he thought that he was gone forever...so now he's committed to spend every second with stan like it's his last and spend his life loving him.

when stan was getting sober from alcohol and he was throwing up nonstop, fucking crying and dying with his matted hair sticking to his forehead from how much he was sweating/how feverish he was, literally shaking, so fucking miserable w/ his face pressed into the toilet seat like "kyle, i can't fucking do this. i'm not strong enough. i feel like i'm going to die. i can't i can't i CANT." :((( kyle was just like gently gliding his thumb over stan's cheek like "you can do this. you survived so much more than this. i know it hurts now, but i'm here. and i will be with you every step of the way." and kisses his forehead.

and when i tell you kyle's fear of contamination and his intense ocd has him washing his hands and spraying you with bear mace if you even breathe near him, it doesn't matter when it's stan. like he loves and cares about stan so much that he does not give a shit what happens to him or weird fluids or being sick and i'm...AAAAAAAA!

or like omg, speaking of stan getting sober, those first couple of concerts after stan stops drinking and has to do raven things or preform in front of thousands of people, he used to do shots and have to drink a lot to be comfortable out there, so he has huge panic attacks sober. and kyle just reassures him from off stage and squeezes his hand, blows a kiss & sticks his tongue out.

but yeah, no, when ravesey starts #hating, kyle calls stan sweetheart like alllll the time, all the little cutesy-wutzy, fuzzy-fuzzy nicknames that he claimed to hate because stan just makes his heart so warm. also jersey kyle saying "baby" in the jersey accent??? like saying sweetheart, baby, honey...I KNOW IT SOUNDS CUTE!!!

okay, last thing, is that honestly learning how to love things and being vulnerable and soft is how he realized he wanted to be a guidance counsellor and provide support to kids like him who didn't have it growing up/being gentle with them and patient and nurturing.

the post!rm soft kyle psychology major/elem guidance counsellor era is my faaav like his character development is CRAZY!!

my comfort television shows are say yes to the dress and masterchef (which means that kyle's favorite comfort tv shows are them) and kyle is so gordon ramsey coded in that with all the adults he's screaming at them, calling them worthless and idiot sandwiches, but with kids he just like kneels all the way down and speaks sweetly to them and is like "i'm not leaving until you laugh" <3

like i think a little girl is in there one time ( i think it might be nova, who is the ravesey kid bc i had them adopt one of kyle's troubled guidance counsellor children...also she looks like this, yes i made her look like havana rose liu because i'm obsessed with her. she's a qt )

but yes, so a little girl starts crying in kyle's office and he's like patting her on the back like "it's okay to cry. don't be embarrassed -- look." then pulls out his phone and points to his lock screen and its stan in a black cd tee-shirt with all the tattoos and piercings and eyeliner in like a pair of ripped skinny jeans and the combat boots.

then jers is like "okay, so this is my boyfriend. and he cries alllll the time. over very silly things." and is like "like, the otha day we were goin' to the store and he saw this tiny little dog, even tinier than you, and she was wearin' this pink sweater and he started crying...bc he thought she was cute. like full waterworks, everything." and the little girl starts laughing and he's like "there we go! c': see, it's all gonna to be okay, my friend. take a piece of candy on your way out. see you later." and fist bumps her bUT SHE HUGS HIM AND HE'S LIKE AAA

/  AOAOAOOAOAOOAOO IORYTOIYUTOY IT- REALLY DO BE LIKE THAT! it’s so cool! and I can’t imagine how funny it must be to see one day greek mythology and then boom; Aztec and Maya mythology,,, and then Indian mythology and so on so forth; and to someone who isn’t too familiar with f.ate, i can imagine how funny it would be to look at someone u’ve read about in books and look at their anime version OITRUTIUORT LIKE;; what do u MEAN Achilles has bright GREEN hair?!?! it’s so silly sometimes, and it has its good and bad things, but i’ll always be grateful to f.ate for helping me discover more about history and mythology from all around the world which i love love love reading about!. But talking about my mesoamerican muses, I currently write five (5)!! 

Moctezuma II: in game they gave him a different name (Izcalli) but that’s more of a f.ate lore thing and a specific kind of situation that doesn’t really have anything to do with Moctezuma’s story so in my portrayal he is directly Moctezuma II the ninth emperor of Aztec empire or more commonly known as the last Aztec emperor (even tho after his reign there were two other more emperors but their reigns were very short so usually its default like that). He was the one who had the first official contact with the europeans amongs more but i won’t get into details because then this will get super long but yes- There are a lot of misconceptions and myths around his figure and quite frankly, not as much information about him, or well; objective information about him; f.ate wise, I got too attached to him and he shakes something in my heart;; maybe something along the lines of being misunderstood, rage, impotence, his story in overall being kind of put to the side, the strong emotional side of humans, expectations, fears and how these affect us all, etc etc. I think his character was not explored much in detail in f.ate and was a little rushed, which in exchange brough a lot of bad opinions about him and as a result, increased my curiosity over him. There’s also this thing where in fiction its often discussed the ‘negative’ traits a character has but these tend to linger on the usual ‘not too disliked’ traits, so when a certain side of a character is explored that doesn’t really match what we are used to see, it tends to create some sort of rejection towards it. In this case, i think his rage was seen as something petty and only that, which i can understand since not everyone will enjoy all characters but,, that limits his character a lot u know? There is something that hits me when a character has a big dislike ratio (like with constantine) and it made me feel more curious about him and to try to understand him further than what we were shown, which in return has made me grown more attached to him. Its me and mocte against the world frfr 😤✊ /OK JKJKJKJK! For some reason he lives rent free inside my head and by god there should be more art of him so i’m always drawing him nowadays. I could ramble about his f.ate design endlessly and talk much more about him but i’ll cut it here before i go overboard.

Tezcatlipoca: one of the central deities in Aztec religion! he is the god of darkness and night, of conflict, war; characterized by his duality as a desctructive god and creator, the enemy and the merciful of duality itself; associated with hurricanes and obsidian, jaguars. He is an omnipotent, ( the definition being: '(of a deity) having unlimited power; able to do anything’) omnipresent, (that can be present everywhere and anywhere at the same time, making him something akin to an invisible being that you can’t see but that he is there regardless) and omniscient god (that knows everything; he can see the truth in human’s hearts). He can also see through the hearts of men! he is also the brother of Quetzalcoatl in some Aztec tellings and the two of them are central to the creation myth, and there is s o much more! very facsinating god. In fate he’s a silly guy, i think in terms of personality; his character was portrayed wonderfully; the duality of Tezca truly shows and its just -chef kiss-

Tláloc-Huitzilopochtli-Tenochtitlán: now this character is kind of confusing if you are not too familiar with f.ate, and even to me it’s still kind of ??? as her spirit origin’s story is mostly tied to f.go lore, but basically, in fate she is the personification of the city of Tenochtitlán but she presents herself as Tláloc or Huitzilopochtli, as she mentions that by enshrining these two gods, Tenochtitlan (the city, aka her) thrived, and I can kind of understand the general idea they might have tried to go with as it -is- true that these two deities were incredibly important; from the side of Tláloc, he was the god of rain and was turbo mega important and venerated in mesoamerica particularly with the agricultural towns, as he had a crucial role in favoring the prosperity of harvest. He was so important that there were a lof of festivities and ceremonies held in order to receive his favors (their economy on the side of agriculture demanded for a lot of rainy days as there were long dry seasons so Tláloc was highly praised) and we still have a lot of items related to him in museums! I wish i could emphasize more how important Tláloc was but I’m gonna cut myself here and introduce Huitzilopochtli real quick;; he is the solar deity in Aztec religion and he’s tied to war and sacrifice as well (like tezca as well) he was like the patron god of the capital city of Tenochtitlan so you get the idea of just how important he was as well

Kukulkán: in fate, kukulkán also has some kind of odd story tied in that takes place in the f.ate universe, but my kuku is mostly- well; kukulkán, or known as the plumed serpent who’s origins mostly trace back to the Maya most specifically around the classic period. To some researchers, Kukulkán is the same as Quetzalcoatl which is why in f.ate, Kukulkán and Quetz are more like sisters to say; kuku being technically the eldest between the two even though she looks up to Quetz a lot. Kuku was considered a creator god and was associated with the winds and rain as it was said they brough them in the first place. a lil curious note; when the weather gets moody, clouds tend to have this sort of serpent-like shape which is from where the association comes from. Funnily enough, in f.ate she claims to be quite an airhead which im not sure if its a reference to her ties with the wind or not but if that was the case, it would be indeed a funny lil detail.

Camazotz: the Maya bat god from Popol Vuh! a god that dwells in the underworld (Xibalba) and is at the service of the lords of the underworld. Xibalba is packed with tests and trials, and if attempting to enter the underworld in the first place wasn’t already difficult, it keeps getting even more tricky! there are five houses and Camazotz rules over the house of the bats, where there is constant squeaking and shrieking. In the Popol Vuh, the hero twins must be able to spend the night in the house of bats (whose snouts are like blades that they use to attack) in order to pass the test, and they almost do it flawlessly until Hunanpu, (one of the brothers), by attempting to take a peak from the blowgun they were hiding inside of, tries to see if dawn has come, which ends up with his head getting decapitated by a bat. To this, other events pass by and he’s able to come back to life and with his brother they defeat the lords of Xibalba at the end. Popol Vuh aside, the bat as an animal had a lot of associtations such as with death, decapitation (from observing bats flying and snatching fruit from trees), night (even day! as they linger in caves but can also be seen flying in daytime across the skies), sacrifice (linked to the previously mentioned decapitation + blood), the underworld (as caves were a gateway to the underworld), etc, etc. Not to mention how important they are for agriculture as they help pollinate crops as well as help in controling over abundance of insects like mosquitoes. In any case, Camazotz is really cool and i love his design in fate!

i just wanted to say ive always appreciated all your hylics hc posts, even the sillier ones, as someone who is too shy to post about a lot of mine… although i dont really see you post about them that mcuh anymore, and not sure how much you are, i thought theyre fun to read through because its nice to see someone expanding so much on what little there was in the actual game, and it makes me feel less alone in how much i really do like hylics, and how much i like to make up about it haha :)
