Agency informant Izaya
I don't want to bring up the characters of Durarara because they don't really play apart in this.
Despite all the events taking place, this shit happens in the mysterious time and land of post canon.
It's very much a Izaya in the world of Bungou Stray Dogs AU.
However I felt like I should mention what happened when he left.
So the final fight with Shizuo and Izaya happened. And practically everyone thinks Izaya is dead.
There's a great deal of scepticism, and for good reason it is Izaya Orihara after all.
There are 5 people who all know for certainty that he's still alive, other than those that saved him.
Shinra, Shizuo, Mairu, Kururi and Simon.
Shinra and Shizuo just have a gut feeling. They know him well enough to be able to survive just about anything. That and a body was never found.
Shinra, to himself hopes that wherever Izaya is he's happy. He knows more than anyone how human his old friend is.
Mairu and Kururi know because Izaya has always taken care of the house bills, phone bills and anything else they needed money for.
And those payments never stopped. Could just be some auto thing, but now every month they get a certain amount of money.
Every birthday, every time there's a Yuuhei Hanejima meet and greet there's the exact amount + travel fair in their bank accounts.
It's always anonymous but they know who it's from.
Simon knows.... Because it's Simon and Simon knows everything.
Somehow when Izaya was recovering in hospital, one of the nurses handed him a box with his name on it.
And inside was some Fatty Tuna.
Thing is they all know Izaya is never coming back. Again, it's mostly a gut feeling at first.
But than all the information on Izaya Orihara vanishes over night. If you search his name you will find nothing.
Any information the Dollars or other gangs have on him, purged from their systems.
The Awakusu have only their payments and emails between Izaya on record as the only proof they did that they ever did business with him.
His phone number is no longer in use. Kanra leaves the chat room, and the account is deleted. As does every other account ran by Izaya.
It's like Izaya never existed.
He's burned his essence from the city, only remembered in the stories and memories of those around him.
It's poetic in a sense.
And Izaya will never return, because along with the PTSD from his final fight, there's nothing left for him in Ikebukuro.
He's with the Agency, he's happy and more alive than ever. Trying to change, to be better.
And to truly atone, he will leave Ikebukuro in the dust. Erase himself from it's streets and let it move on peace.
In a way Izaya did die in that final fight. But he's reborn, he's someone the old him wouldn't recognise and that makes him smile.
"Izaya? Are you coming in?" Asks Atsushi, walking over to him. Izaya looks back, smiling warmly and nods. "Yeah, yeah I'm coming." Atsushi hesitates but Izaya gestures for him to continue.
"Are you okay?"
Izaya nods "I am, just reminiscing I guess. But back to work, right?" Atsushi nods, smiling "yeah, we've got a new case and could really use your help."
Izaya grins, intrigued "lead the way" he follows Atsushi inside, and he doesn't look back.
And he never will.

The Sleeping Horror
Yandere! Izaya Orihara x Female! Reader
Hello! It’s been years, hasn’t it? Idk if you guys missed me, but I do miss writing for other fandom beside genshin and twst. I was planning to make a whole new account, but I was too lazy so here I am! Let’s start with something ‘soft’ and fantastical, shall we? Inspired by the line in the Wikipedia page of his relationship with Shizuo: “Izaya also holds the belief that only humans possess the ability to slay monsters.” And Sleeping Beauty story (would you believe me if I told you I rewrote this three times?).
Tumblr media
Admittedly, marriage wasn’t something Izaya really had in mind.
Not because he was a player, but because he was still young. Still adventurous. Still mischievous. He wanted to see more people, more kingdoms, more chaos. His position as a prince allowed him that much, but it also came with many responsibilities. And one of them was an arranged marriage.
Until now, Izaya wasn’t sure how to react when he found out he was already betrothed since birth. On one hand, he was somewhat irritated with the fate his father had oh-so-kindly lay out in front of him. Even as a child, he should at least have some freedom to choose his own suitor, right? It wasn’t as if he was a particularly naïve kid who thought suitors were equal to playmates. He’d always been intelligent, albeit quieter and more distant.
But on the other hand, you sounded quite… interesting. Yes, sounded, because he’d never seen you. There wasn’t even a painting of you somewhere in your castle. It was either you vanished or you only existed in people’s imagination. Then, his father, Shirou, disproved of the latter because he recounted a story that happened during your christening. Apparently, your father had enraged a wicked fairy by excluding her from the event and she promptly avenged her wounded ego by cursing you to prick your finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel before the sun set on your sixteenth birthday and die. One of the pixie fairies whom your father did invite, used her blessing to weaken the curse so that instead of dying, you’d fall into a deep sleep, only broken by true love’s kiss. Because, apparently, her magic wasn’t strong enough to undo the curse. So, your father ordered all spinning wheels throughout the kingdom be burned and the remains were hidden in the dungeon.
It certainly explained why Izaya heard a few peasants grumbling about the lack of spinning wheels when he occasionally visited your kingdom. But, alas, Shirou didn’t seem to know about your whereabouts. It didn’t help that he forbade him from mentioning the incident to your own father too, despite the fact that Izaya had a right to know as your fiancé.
So, using the intelligence he’d built up after years of scheming and illicit dealings, Izaya managed to pinpoint your location. It was a humble cottage in the middle of the forest, secluded enough to avoid the wicked fairy’s eyes but not enough for his. Izaya smirked as if he’d won a high-staking gamble, and with the leverage he had on your father, it could be described as one. Shirou wasn’t a fool, but his job as a king did prevent him from knowing the full extent of Izaya’s secret occupation and hobby.
And thus, Izaya set out to find his cursed fiancée. As expected, you were every bit of a country bumpkin; naïve and improper. It was clear that you’d never seen a stranger beyond your three bumbling fairy ‘aunts’, judging by how you openly gaped at his sudden appearance when you were singing to your animal friends. And yet, Izaya allowed your curiosity shine through, anyway, if not because of how pathetically cute you looked right now. Like a dog, or a kitten, that he could easily pick up and bring somewhere else because you were just so defenseless.
Did your aunts even teach you not to trust a stranger, whoever it was?
Apparently, no. Because there was a limit to how ‘human’ they could pretend to be, and you wouldn’t have known any better because they were all you had growing up. Even now, a good parent shouldn’t let their daughter play too long in the forest where anything and everything could happen to her, especially when she didn’t possess any self-defense skills.
Especially when she was you, a princess in hiding.
Perhaps you were lucky that he was the one who met you. Izaya couldn’t imagine what would happen if it was that wicked fairy instead?
… Or he could! There was no limit for possibilities in his mind. That was how he could stay entertained despite so many of his plans veering off their tracks.
Truly, it’d be a shame if you were to get caught, right?
Well, it would, but he wouldn’t do that. He wanted to see what would happen if he didn’t intervene in the course of your life. Would it end happily ever after like Shirou hoped? Or would it become a nightmare for you and your kingdom instead? So far, you were the most interesting woman he’d ever met despite your obvious flaws, which some lessons in table manners and etiquette could rectify. And perhaps Izaya would bestow more of his ‘love for humanity’ in keeping you by his side regardless, even if the latter were to befall you.
Was this what the power of bias felt like? It wasn’t that bad, and it might’ve made him feel a bit closer to being a human, but Izaya wanted to know more about your feelings when you found out that he pitied you. Would you be offended? Touched? Upset?
Ah, the possibilities were truly endless, weren’t they?
Apparently, you’d fallen for him at first meeting, and were excited to tell your aunts about him when they revealed your true status as a betrothed princess. You could never meet ‘him’ again, they said. It was somewhat foolish of them to not allow you to tell them about him, but then again, Izaya doubted they’d known him let alone see his face. It was enough that they neglected you most of the time, albeit accidentally. How could he trust them to remember who he was?
Then, the fated thing happened.
The wicked fairy found out about you.
After the fairies brought you to your father’s castle in disguise, they let you grieve over your broken heart in your new room. But the wicked fairy used your sadness to entrance you and led you to an abandoned tower. All this time, Izaya watched from the shadows without anyone’s knowledge, not even your own father. His fingers twitched with an unexplainable urge to help you when you were forced to touch the conjured spinning wheel, while his brain – the more dominant part of him – convinced him to watch a little longer. It wasn’t as if he could challenge the fairy head-on, and he didn’t have any magic to do so despite his yearning heart.
Eventually, you succumbed to the curse, and the wicked fairy gloated over it to your belated aunts.
While waking you up with a kiss sounded ideal, it was more tempting to kill the wicked fairy first of all, if not to feel the rush of adrenaline and victory in his hands. Maybe you’d be grateful for it too, and thus, strengthening your love for him and salvaging your broken heart. But since he didn’t have the appropriate weapon to defeat her, Izaya was left to approach the pixies.
“Excuse me. You three look quite flustered. Is there something wrong?”
“Oh, my! You surprised me there, young man.” the pink one gasped, holding her tiny chest. “A-and no, we’re fine. Thank you for asking.”
“Are you sure?” he asked, still with the amiable smile that took him years of etiquette lessons and scheming to perfect. “You see, I have a fiancée, and I was told that I’d be seeing her today.”
They exchanged quizzical glances at each other.
“My name is Izaya Orihara.” He took a medal from his pocket as a proof of his own identity. “I’m betrothed to the princess of this kingdom. But, unfortunately, I was never able to see her. It upsets me terribly to postpone another meeting with her, when we should’ve been together since the very first start.”
Izaya languished at them through a sad friends as he clutched the medal desperately. Almost all too easily, the fairies fell to his trap with a sympathetic ‘aw’. They didn’t even question why he had the medal in his pocket rather than in his person as a prince should be. But, at least, he wasn’t lying.
“It is against our nature to be in the way of fate, especially a fated love.” said the green one. “A wicked fairy has cursed your fiancée to sleep forever unless awaken by a true love’s kiss, and she’s currently sleeping in this tower right now.”
“Ah, how terrible.” Izaya moaned sadly. “I wish I could do something to that fairy for daring to hurt my precious fiancée.”
Once again, they looked at each other.
“Let us help you with a bit of our magic, Child.” The blue one declared. “Hopefully, with these, you can end the wicked fairy’s reign of darkness once and for all.”
They armed him with the Sword of Truth and the Shield of Virtue, which they stated to be weapons of righteousness that would triumph over evil, and Izaya felt more powerful than ever. He wondered if he could even beat them with these, but they might prove their usefulness again in the future. That, and it’d be easier to manipulate you with them seeing as they were practically a ‘family’ to you.
And so, the group traveled to the mountain where the wicked fairy lived and began the most exhilarating battle he’d ever had. Cornered, the fairy transformed into a fire-breathing dragon. Another wrench to his plan, but Izaya wasn’t too worried because his agility saved their lives at the end of the day. He managed to stab her through her chest with great effort and watched her fall from the cliff.
Truly, only humans had the ability to slay monsters.
“That was wonderful, Child!” the blue fairy gushed, while the others clapped and nodded in agreement.
Izaya feigned a humble chuckle.
“I couldn’t possibly do that without your help, either, so please don’t give me all the credits.”
Flattered as they were, they hadn’t forgotten their second priority: waking you up with a true love’s kiss.
But, shockingly enough, Izaya’s kiss did nothing to your sleeping self.
“H-how could this be?!” the pink one shrieked. “Prince Izaya is supposed to be her fiancé, so why doesn’t it work?!”
While they proceeded to question each other, Izaya took the time to observe you. Your forehead was wrinkled as if suffering from a nightmare, your lips parted slightly as if wanting to say something, and your hands grasped the red roses as if trying to protect yourself with it.
It was far from the peaceful sight he’d expected to see, and the realization brought a mocking, almost humorless laugh from his throat.
“What’s wrong? Why are you laughing?’
“No, it’s nothing. Pardon my unseemly reaction.” said he, wiping his teary eye with his gloved hand. “May I ask you to bring her father here?”
“The King? What can you possibly need from him?”
“You said that only a true love’s kiss can wake her up, right? Well, he’s the one who asked you to protect her. Isn’t that what a ‘true love’ is? The feeling of wanting to protect someone?”
And such feeling wasn’t strong enough within him, or rather, he merely allowed it to wash over him. Otherwise, he would’ve stopped the wicked fairy from bewitching you earlier. Besides, Izaya was too logical to ever fall for someone at first meeting, no matter how interesting they were, and the curse said nothing about needing both parties to love each other for it to be broken.
While the fairies were occupied in bringing your father, Izaya approached one of the maids that happened to pass by.
“Bring me the dragon’s head from the cliff in the wicked fairy’s mountain.”
“Is it her own head?”
He merely smiled, and the spy nodded with a sigh. He wasn’t sure how you’d react once you woke up, but it didn’t hurt to have another ‘decoration’ inside his room. Then, he returned to the tower where your father was already standing at the bedside.
“P-Prince Izaya?!” he stammered. “Since when have you been here? Shouldn’t you notify me beforehand? Why are you dressing so... casually?”
“Now, now, that part isn’t as important as our dear princess is. And I must say, I’m quite hurt to know that you neglected to tell me that she’s been cursed all along.”
Your father flinched and looked down guiltily.
“I didn’t want it to become an international problem.”
“But there were many guests at that time, no? Don’t you think I deserve to know, as her fiancé?” Despite the feelings that Izaya didn’t quite absorb and understand, and your flaws that he mocked and used, a hint of bitterness managed to slip through his tongue. He waved his hand dismissively, both to your father and to his own emotions. “Regardless, you have the duty to save your daughter from the curse. So, go ahead. Don’t worry about the wicked fairy. I’ve slayed her, and her body is at the bottom of the cliff in her own abode. I’ll bring her head if you don’t believe me.”
The fairies gasped, while your father merely gaped, shocked at his callousness. The king glanced at the pixies, and they nodded hesitantly, confirming the part of the battle.
“I… I believe you.”
Slowly, he hovered over your face for a moment before he leaned down to press a deep kiss onto your forehead. Your troubled face relaxed little by little, and Izaya almost felt jealous when you fluttered your eyes open.
“She’s awake!” one of the pixies enthused.
Your father heaved a sigh of relief and smiled almost shakily. And yet, when your eyes landed on Izaya, they immediately widened in fear.
“No, I refuse to marry him!”

I promise to make the next Shizaya one end on a fluffier note. ( ´•̥̥̥ω•̥̥̥` ) or at least be lighthearted. The next doujin I'm working on is a gen one tho... but it's a feel good one! It's centered on the Heiwajima and Orihara siblings with the most UNFORTUNATE title that got lost in translation.
It's called Brother Lover.

A Different Kind of Lullaby
Happy birthday, Izaya! Another year of being stuck in the eternal hell of loving you and I wouldn’t have it any other way ~ This is actually a very overdue commission for @happyandticklish and I cannot apologize enough for how late this is, I’m so fucking sorry This ended up a little more,,,thoughtful? Introspective? Than I meant it to but I hope you enjoy orz Inspired by this post Also posted on ao3
Izaya always had to make things difficult.
If Shizuo wanted to go right, Izaya would go left. If Shizuo wanted to go up, Izaya would dig down. If Shizuo wanted to go over, Izaya skipped around.
Even when Izaya also wanted to go right or up or over, he still found a way to oppose Shizuo. He would talk his way in twists and turns, scrambling Shizuo’s mind until Shizuo decided they should go left, down, and around. And that’s when Izaya would tell him he was wrong.
Izaya was clever, able to steal any sense of satisfaction Shizuo might have felt from getting his way, all without lifting a finger. It pissed him off.
Shizuo could already feel the irritation growing in his chest and pulsing at his temples. Of course the flea would find a way to make the simple action of going to sleep an arduous event. Every night, Shizuo would try to coax him to bed at a reasonable time, pressing gentle kisses to the nape of his neck as he hunched over his keyboard. He understood that Izaya’s -shitty, rotten- work was important to him and tried to be reasonable in his demands. However, with the time edging closer to sunrise than sunset, Shizuo no longer had the patience for tenderness. Especially when he could see those dark circles marring Izaya’s beautiful face from across the room.
He would get more demanding; glaring at the back of Izaya’s head until his gaze had its own presence, physically dragging Izaya’s chair away from the desk, and -on particularly impatient days- shutting Izaya’s laptop on his fingers. It didn’t always work, but there was a sense of gratification in making Izaya just as annoyed as he was.
Some days, however, Izaya gave in to Shizuo’s wishes and crawled into bed beside him before the time turned back to single digits. He’d pull his ridiculously soft comforters up to his chin and cuddle up close until Shizuo could feel warm breath on his collarbone. Then Shizuo would smile and tuck his face into his lover’s hair. He would fall asleep to the soothing scent of the man he once hated. The man he now loved.
The man he now wanted to smother with one of the stupid memory foam pillows.
Because after only ten minutes, Izaya would start tossing and turning and rustling the sheets like he couldn’t get comfortable. It was amazing how such soft sounds could become deafening in the silence of the night. To Shizuo’s sleep-addled mind, the quiet brush of silk might as well have been clanging metal. Shizuo would think he was doing it on purpose if it weren't for how Izaya seemed to take special care not to tug on their shared blanket too much. As if he was trying not to wake him.
It was that consideration that kept Shizuo’s tone soft when he finally turned his head to look at Izaya. “Oi, what’s your problem?” His voice was rough with sleep and his lips were tugged down in a frown. Squinting in the darkness, he could just make out Izaya stilling where he’d been about to roll over for the hundredth time. Shizuo blinked a few times, allowing his eyes to adjust to the dark room.
All of the irritation that had been steadily building up disappeared the moment he saw Izaya’s face. He looked awful. It was like someone had smudged graphite beneath both of his eyes. His eyes, usually so bright with mischief and cunning, were dull and glassy from exhaustion, and his lopsided smile was weak and halfhearted. But it was his words that brought it all together into one big recipe for concern. “Ah, Shizu-chan, did I wake you?”
There was no way Izaya would speak so softly if he was actually trying to get on Shizuo’s nerves. Sickeningly sweet and innocent, yes, but not soft.
“Yeah,” Shizuo answered simply, knowing there was no point in lying. A dead man wouldn’t be able to sleep through Izaya’s restless squirming. “You alright?”
Izaya’s brow furrowed slightly, as if he hadn’t expected that reaction. He didn’t look pleased about it either. Of course the expression didn’t last long, because even exhausted, Izaya felt the need to wear a mask. He’d gotten better about showing his true feelings, but he still had his moments. Shizuo figured that after doing it for so many years it’d just become a habit. Izaya’s whiny, overdramatic response was no surprise.
“It’s impossible to sleep when Shizu-chan is hogging all of the blankets! I can’t get comfortable at all!” He lamented with a great sigh, flopping onto his back with all of the drama of a Broadway reject.
Shizuo looked down at the covers. They were about an inch closer to his side of the bed. Maybe an inch and a half if he took a particularly deep breath. His exasperation from before threatened to return, but reminding himself of Izaya’s obviously performative brattiness kept it at bay. He breathed in, pulling the blanket that extra half inch. If that’s what Izaya wanted to do, so be it.
Playing along with Izaya’s halfhearted charade, Shizuo clicked his tongue in faux annoyance. “Then get your ass over here,” he snapped, reaching over to pull Izaya closer. One of the most irritating parts of nights like these was the fact that Izaya always ended up on the other side of the bed and out of his arms. Izaya made a quiet sound of surprise as his face was suddenly smushed against Shizuo’s chest. “There. Better?”
Of course, Izaya protested and squirmed in his hold, trying to push away. Shizuo didn’t budge. “I can’t breathe, you brute!” He complained, growing more agitated with how unbothered Shizuo was by his struggles.
“Too bad. If you pass out, at least we’ll both get some sleep.”
Izaya spent the next few minutes trying and failing to break free of his prison, all the while Shizuo teetered on the edge of wakefulness and slumber. Pushing at his chest was like pushing against a brick wall, and his legs were quickly pinned beneath one of Shizuo’s when Izaya tried kneeing him where not even his super strength could save him. But Izaya was persistent. He’d taken to wiggling as much as he could in hopes that Shizuo would get annoyed and release him, but if Shizuo was bothered, he definitely didn’t show it. Only when his strength was completely spent did Izaya give in. Well, almost.
Shizuo’s eyes fluttered open when he felt a sudden sharp pinch in his chest. Looking down, he saw Izaya trying his best to sink his teeth deeper into Shizuo’s skin. A last-ditch show of defiance. The bite itself didn’t hurt, but Shizuo still growled because Izaya was so damn petty.
He backed down though, because even with that nasty glare on Izaya’s face, he still looked exhausted. Shizuo sighed and loosened his grip slightly now that Izaya wasn’t fighting it. “You look like shit.”
Izaya gave him a flat look. “How charming.”
Shizuo’s brow twitched, but he still ran a gentle hand up and down Izaya’s back as an apology. He let silence fall between them, allowing them both to decompress. It was almost impressive how they could work each other up so quickly over the smallest things. However, it was even more amazing how they could come back together after it all.
The rhythmic slide of Shizuo’s palm along his spine eased away Izaya’s tension slowly but surely. The stiff line of his shoulders softened, and his frown melted away with a content sigh. He tucked his face against his lover’s chest, willingly this time, much to Shizuo’s relief.
“Hey…” Shizuo started, waiting for Izaya’s quiet hum of acknowledgment. “Is it work?” He slipped his hand under the soft cotton of Izaya’s sweater to trace idle patterns across his back. It seemed to soothe him.
Izaya didn’t respond right away, but when he did, he sounded weary. “Mm. This job has been unexpectedly complicated. I get a headache even thinking about it,” he sighed, twitching a bit when Shizuo’s fingers brushed across his shoulder blades. “Shizu-chan’s brain must live such an easy life, hardly having to work~.”
He squawked when Shizuo pinched his hip in retaliation, trying hard to stifle his giggles when fingers spidered up his back. The sound sparked a light in Shizuo’s mind and he grinned wickedly in the darkness.
“Oh yeah? Well yours seems to not know when to give it a rest. Maybe I should give it a hand, huh?” He growled playfully, relishing in the look of panic that spread across Izaya’s face.
“D-don’t, you protozoan!” He protested, words tripping over each other as he rushed to get them out.
Calloused fingertips tickled down Izaya’s spine to dance along his sides in spite of Izaya’s protests. Having already used up all of his strength trying to escape Shizuo’s grasp before, he didn't have the energy to hold back the stream of giggles that fell from his lips. “Shihihizu-chahahan! Knock it off, you b-ahaha!!” His words dissolved into a cackle when Shizuo squeezed at his hips again. Whatever insult he was about to shoot off, Shizuo didn’t want to hear it. Not when it was this late and Shizuo had possibly just discovered a way to get his restless flea to sleep.
Still, he kept his touch gentle. He left Izaya’s hips alone-it was almost ridiculous how sensitive he was there-and directed his wandering fingers to Izaya’s back instead. The ghost of a fingertip brushing up his spine had him gasping and arching his back, while blunt nails skittering over his shoulder blades had him curling forward with breathy snickers.
“What do you thihihink you’re doing?” Izaya hissed, not quite as biting as he probably meant it to be with a helpless smile trembling at his lips.
Shizuo gave an easy shrug. “Giving your brain somethin’ else to focus on. Are you still thinking about work?”
Izaya’s eyes widened a fraction before they narrowed into an annoyed glare. While he didn’t respond verbally, his expression gave a clear enough answer. Shizuo smirked, smug in his little victory. Though, that same smirk softened on surprised fondness when, instead of coming up with some witty comeback, Izaya sighed and tucked his head under Shizuo’s chin. It was an unexpected show of vulnerability, indulging in this comfort without alcohol or endorphins to blame. They’d been dating-officially, that is- for a few months now, but intimacy did not come easily to Izaya. Initiating or accepting, Izaya always felt the need to put up some irritating front.
Then again, it’s not like Shizuo was the poster boy for communication either. Thoughts that should have taken the form of words on his tongue instead came as a weapon in his hands.
These hands that were known to enact unimaginable violence now traced along Izaya’s skin with the utmost care, combatting Izaya’s racing mind in place of the thugs he usually faced.
He didn’t need a clenched fist or the crunch of metal between his grip to win this battle. A featherlight touch up the knobs of his spine had Izaya gasping with a shiver, a teasing brush of a nail at the dip of his lower back guaranteeing that his mind wouldn’t stray.
Shizuo’s own attention didn’t stray so much as it slowly faded into thoughtless contentment. His fingers moved of their own accord, and Shizuo enjoyed the minuscule reactions they prompted from the man in his arms. Izaya was quiet but in the dark silence of the night, his sharp little exhales when a finger edged a bit too close to his ribs were undeniable. He squirmed some, huffed out breathy not-quite laughs, but mostly he melted.
Shizuo didn’t know what Izaya had been thinking about before this, but the warm breath he could feel against his throat- evening out more and more as the time passed-told him that it was no longer tonight’s problem.
Perhaps it’d come back tomorrow night to try to keep Izaya from getting the few hours of rest he allowed himself. Perhaps it’d be dealt with long before the sun dipped below the skyline. Whatever the case, Shizuo would be here, ready to lull Izaya to sleep with a different kind of lullaby.

LIGHT READING
"Hey Shizu-chan, what do you want to do for your birthday?" Izaya asked as he folded his newspaper. "Shizu-chan?" He looked over to see Shizuo was fast asleep.
They had decided to take it easy today. Do some reading and enjoy each other's company. Izaya agreed and was unusually warm to the idea.
"You're so cute when you sleep." Izaya murmured. "Not at all like the beast I know. It's almost disgusting and doesn't suit you. Wonder if I should wake you?"
"Mmmrrggg......bear doesn't fit...." Shizuo grumbled.
Izaya smiled and brushed his fingers through Shizuo's hair. "Ah... still an idiot. Good."
"Love.....Zaya....." Shizuo hummed in his sleep.
Izaya decided that light reading time would be a regular thing.

NAME: Jack Neverbore. AGE: 18-24. (Verse Dependent) DOB: March 28. NATIONALITY: Japanese American. SPECIES: Human. GENDER: Male. OCCUPATION: Vigilante Gang Leader. HEIGHT: 5'7". HAIR: Pitch Black. EYES: Burnt Umber. FACECLAIM: Izaya Orihara & Ryo Nishikido.
This gang does numerous tasks, on Jack’s side: stopping gang fights, drug wars, drug dealing and intervening with the cop’s tasks when it came to certain homicides; albeit rare. On Caleb’s side, outside their normal attires, they would do errands for the nursing homes, as well as running a homeless shelter labeled ‘The Crow’s Nest’. Both coming up to create this deal to start a ‘business’ in mind.
The members themselves are known to be reckless outside the gang, them being known as delinquents and/or criminals to some. Others, however, don’t even have records as they are not known as such outside of the activities of others. Those others are known to be ‘good kids’, ‘kind souls’, and even more than ‘A+ students’.
Yet, they are seen hanging around each other nonetheless—despite what is commonly known as their friends in their personal social groups, before ever hanging around others as themselves. Causing disdain towards those who are known with the bad rep, which seems to only cause those ‘good kids’ to cling to their friends tighter.
The unknown reason for these people’s change of relationships can only be described as association to the calling of an unknown ad from unknown origin. All thanks to the leader himself and his underground dealings.
Biography:
Jack is part of an American government experiment known as Case 404Nex, to where in his childhood days, he was severely neglected emotionally ( and is ). This caused him to be stunted in some ways to where he can have a hard time relating to people. Jack is known to be unpredictable and somewhat despicable when it comes to his past and present actions accompanied by thoughts.
He has been known to cause chaos in New York just out of pure boredom. As an example, would be pranking random civilians or causing out of the blue arguments, both to psychologically analyze the ‘victim’. As for him, he usually doesn’t see people as ‘human’ right away. This is mainly due to underlying mental illnesses, an almost irreversible consequence. And despite that he does this to get to know the unsuspecting victim of his antics, it can also backfire on him when it comes to those underlying illnesses.
This experiment is to solely analyze, ( ironic with how Jack treats others ), a human’s desire and need for emotional support; where they stand and how it affects their standing in social class, and cognitive empathy development. The question of what makes a human, a human.
Unintentionally, this caused Jack to finalize a delusion disorder called the “Defensive Actor Syndrome”, to where he believes he is somewhat in a “reality show”. Cameras and people watching him, people of the government alongside Actors watching him since he has obtained files on his eighteenth birthday telling him that he was part of the experiment. Which is also part of the experiment itself, which he had soon figured out. This has caused him to be very unkind to certain strangers that heighten his paranoia.

Kim Dokja is not actually unattractive , this is a lie. He’s not pathetic either , don’t let those weirdos’ words get to you. His face is blurred because he has a skill called “ a forth wall”. When people in the novel get asked to describe his appearance , they can’t do it! Because it’s censored! But they don’t know it! He has pale skin , dark hair and eyes glimmering like stars. Everything that was written in the novel should lead you to a conclusion that no one (few can see it actually but that’s a long story) can see his face properly. Bro is ethereal and no one knows ! BlackBox (the official novel artist) did him justice. Yoo Joonghyuk is the most attractive man on earth. Han Sooyoung doesn’t have anything that prevents people from seeing her face, but she still got called ugly in the novel. Her birthday is also on a 1st of April LMAO. How pathetic is that? She’s literally a joke. She’s cringe. She has a foul mouth and she’s annoying to most people. She’s also a malnutritioned shortass. Kim Dokja and Yoo Joonghyuk can be described as “ a god and his favorite” . Han Sooyoung is just some girl that had rich parents that didn’t love her. Truth be told, the absolute majority the fandom don’t ship her with Kim Dokja and Yoo Joonghyuk. They ship her with Yoo Sangah- an amazing woman that can put her in her place and make her shut up if she wants
i appreciate ur passion for ur ships and the clarification that kim dokja is not ugly but ill have to step in and say we're not here to break polyships apart in favor of pairings. its the power polycule showdown. now if u want to talk about how han sooyoung is dating the guys and this other lady at the same time and convert ppl to a bigger polycule im happy to advocate idk who yoo sangah is but i keep sayin the more the merrier!
it also didnt sit well w me the way u lifted the two guys up and put hsy down like that, but its fully possible you meant it in an affectionate way and i misread your tone in which case im sorry (we all got a blorbo we talk shit about mine is izaya from durarara hes absolute garbage and i love him)
i didnt want to leave you hanging and i mightve misunderstood your tone, so i chose to reply, but, as a general warning: if ppl try to start any shipping discourse in my inbox its most likely getting deleted.

Clicking Keys (and Sneaky Fleas)
I pulled this out of my ass in four hours and I’m two hours late but-! It’s done! Happy birthday, Shizuo!
Tap, tap, tap…
The ceaseless clacking of a keyboard filled the apartment like the buzz of a fly. Quiet but persistent in how it held your attention. It was certainly possible to tune it out, distract yourself from it with the sounds of the television or radio until it faded into the background.
It’d be easy enough. He could turn on one of Kasuka’s movies or pull up a crime fiction podcast. Izaya would be too preoccupied to tease him about it after all.
But that was just the thing- Izaya was preoccupied, buried in his work as he had been for the past few days.
Tap, tap, tap…
It was hard to drown it out when all he could think about was the source of that maddening sound.
Izaya. Izaya with his brow slightly furrowed and those clever eyes focused solely on the screen in front of him. When was the last time those eyes had looked at him? Truly looked at him?
Shizuo frowned, slouching a bit in his seat on the couch and scuffing his foot against the floor. Izaya had hardly even spoken to him today, only offering a vague hum in response when Shizuo had told him good morning. Shizuo didn’t think of himself as a needy partner but this was a bit much, wasn’t it? Especially today of all days.
The thought had Shizuo fighting back a blush. Just because it was his birthday didn’t mean today would be different from any other day. Neither of them were big on holidays so it shouldn’t come as a surprise.
Though, his embarrassment was quickly chased away by frustration. Birthday or not, he wanted his boyfriend to at least look at him. There was no way in hell he was about to get up and tell Izaya to pay attention to him though. The best case scenario was that Izaya made fun of him for being codependent and the worst case was that the man’s ego was inflated even more than it already was. He wasn’t exactly keen on experiencing either of those outcomes.
Clicking his tongue, Shizuo reached out his foot and pushed the leg of the coffee table. He was careful not to push too hard, just enough to make it slide a few inches away with a soft squeak against the polished wooden floor. He glanced over at Izaya from the corner of his eye.
Tap, tap, tap…
A harder push, a slightly louder squeak.
“Careful,” instinctive and distracted, was all he got in return.
Shizuo scowled. Giving up on that idea, Shizuo went to the kitchen for a snack. The fridge was closed with a little more force than normal. The lid to a pudding cup was peeled off just a little slower to draw out the sound. The search for a spoon lasted longer than it reasonably should’ve.
He returned to the couch and ate his pudding in silence, growing more and more resigned with each passing moment.
But he couldn’t help but perk up when that incessant clicking paused and Izaya finally-finally-stood from his desk.
Only to pass Shizuo by entirely and head to the kitchen himself.
At this point, Shizuo was frowning hard enough for his jaw to ache. As frustrating as this was, it wasn’t totally out of character for Izaya to ignore him like this. Izaya could be childish and fickle, but he really did take his job seriously, and Shizuo respected that about him. Shizuo could deny it all he wanted but he knew that the reason he was feeling so put out today was that he’d thought Izaya might’ve at least taken note of the date. He hadn’t expected a party or a cake or any grand celebration. He’d be happy with a kiss, even just a chaste press of lips and that Cheshire Cat smile he loved so much.
Shizuo sighed. Maybe he’d just go home.
He was about to do just that when long slender arms wrapped around his shoulders from behind and a lilted voice whispered in his ear.
“Shizu-chan is cute when he wants attention~”
Shizuo startled with a choked out gasp before his cheeks burned a bright red. “You-!”
Izaya snickered as he hooked his chin over his partner’s shoulder, his breath against Shizuo’s ear making him twitch. “You’ve been trying to get my attention all this time, right? I’m sorry I’ve been so busy,” he said softly, a smile still on his face.
Shizuo would be shocked that Izaya had actually apologized if it hadn’t been for the rush of embarrassment that ran through him suddenly. While he absolutely had been trying to draw Izaya’s attention, being called out on it was still mortifying.
“Tch, who the hell would want your attention?” Shizuo said, shrugging off Izaya’s arms from his shoulders and staring straight ahead.
This time it was Izaya’s turn to frown, but the authenticity of it was certainly debatable. “Ahhh, you’re ignoring me now? That’s no good. I should’ve known you were a tsundere, Shizu-chan.” Izaya straightened from his lean over the back of the couch to come around and claim the seat next to Shizuo. “Were you wanting me to sit next to you like this?” He hummed, pressing up close against Shizuo’s side.
Stubborn, Shizuo refused to meet his eye. “Shut up.”
Izaya only smiled.
“Maybe you wanted a kiss then?” He offered, leaning up to do just that only for Shizuo to turn his face away petulantly, Izaya’s lips meeting a warm cheek instead of his mouth. Izaya heaved a dramatic sigh. “Is this payback? I’ve already apologized, you know…” When Shizuo still refused to look at him, Izaya sighed again. Loud and over the top with just the hint of something else… “I guess I have no choice then.”
Curious, Shizuo risked a glance from the corner of his eye. Just what was the flea up to?
What he saw had him turning to face Izaya instantly.
Shizuo knew that toothy grin all too well.
“Oi, don’t even think about-!”
He was too late. Nimble fingers were already dancing over his sides and skittering up to tap against his rib cage just like they did with that damn keyboard. Shizuo made a sound somewhere between a yelp and a cough, twisting away to try to dislodge Izaya’s hands. “I-Izaya! St-ahaha! Shihihit!”
Izaya’s smile grew as those rare chortles filled the air. “Ahh there’s my monster’s handsome face~ That wasn’t so hard, was it?” His voice was a deceptively gentle purr that didn’t match at all with the way he ruthlessly pinched at Shizuo’s waist. Izaya knew how sensitive he was there, having discovered it when he had curiously wrapped his hands around Shizuo’s waist after noticing how narrow it was. Shizuo had jumped, startling them both, which was more than enough for Izaya to connect the dots.
Now, he used that discovery to pull more of that surprisingly bright laugh from Shizuo’s lips, smiling wider when all Shizuo did was lightly grip his wrists in response.
“Ihihihizaya! I’ll fucking kihihihill you!” Shizuo yelled out, but for all of his curses, he stayed in place. He squirmed and twitched and jerked, but not once did he try to stand or push Izaya away. How could he when Izaya was looking at him with that painfully fond look in his eye and cooing at him with that silky smooth voice? What a pest.
Izaya’s tickling fingers were torturous-evident in the way Shizuo’s voice pitched when they found their way under his shirt to get at bare skin-but he couldn’t deny that this was better than Izaya sitting behind that computer. So Shizuo accepted Izaya’s attention, hard earned as it was. He endured it until the facades fell away and the cursing stopped. Until he was laid back on the couch cushions with Izaya pulling more and more laughter from his lips. Until Izaya stopped and leaned down to replace that laughter with a kiss.
“I’ve been wanting to see Shizu-chan’s face all day,” he said in that quiet amused way of his.
Shizuo’s brow furrowed as he caught his breath. “What are you talking about? You’re the one who’s been staring at that damn computer since I woke up.”
A wry grin.
“I’ve been getting things ready~”
“For what?” Shizuo’s confused expression must’ve been edging too close to annoyed since Izaya quickly dropped the cryptic act with a laugh.
“For Shizu-chan’s birthday, of course.” Shizuo’s face fell slack on surprise, and Izaya scoffed at his disbelief. “Did you really think I’d forgotten? What a terrible boyfriend,” he whined with a pout.
Shizuo raised a brow at the irony of that statement but was curious enough to let it slide. “What have you been doing then?”
Izaya’s pout disappeared as if it had never been there to begin with, easily replaced by a smirk. “I’ve been making sure all of our reservations are in order. A lot goes into making sure a trip goes smoothly after all. I don’t want us to run into any problems while we’re attending Traugott Geissendorfer’s tournament in Okinawa. You understand, right?”
There was a beat of silence.
“Huh?” Shizuo blinked up at Izaya blankly, trying to comprehend what he was saying.
“He’s your idol, isn’t he? I thought Shizu-chan might want to see him compete in person,” Izaya explained simply.
It took Shizuo a moment to fully put the pieces together, but when he did, he looked up at Izaya with poorly hidden excitement in his eyes.
“Really?”
“Really.”
Another moment and Izaya was pulled into a borderline bone-crushing hug. “You sneaky fucking flea.” Shizuo growled the words into Izaya’s neck, but he was smiling impossibly wide. Relief and gratefulness and love all swirled together to warm his chest and clench his heart. To think he was on Izaya’s mind this entire time just as Izaya had been on his. They truly were hopeless. “…thank you.”
Izaya hummed, his own content smile pressed against Shizuo’s temple.
“Happy birthday, Shizu-chan.”
