I was thinking of this again but I couldn’t quite recall what I was on about.

Finally found it.

Concept: In Dead Apple Shibusawa, Fyodor and Dazai all wear outfits in Atsushi’s colours.

The white shows how he’s connected to them all. While the black shows what he means to them.

Shibusawa can’t remember Atsushi but there’s a sense of something missing. His black turtleneck is mostly hidden by his white attire.

As it’s his connection to Atsushi that’s concealing his memories. To him Atsushi is a secret hiding in plain sight.

All Fyodor has ever wanted from Atsushi is his ability. Taking a particular interest in Atsushi’s claws which seem to be where his true potential lies.

So it’s little surprise that Fyodor in an almost completely white attire dawns black gloves.

A piece of clothing that can so easily be discarded once it’s no longer deemed necessary. Just like how he views Atsushi.

Unlike the other two, Dazai’s not trying to conceal anything with his black shirt. If anything the yellow tie only serves to draw more attention to it.

Yellow being a colour associated with light, warmth and hope. All things Dazai believes Atsushi represents. To Dazai, Atsushi is the light that shines through the darkness.

He’s not concealing his shirt because he could never deny who he’s fighting for. And it serves to remind himself of what Atsushi said to him before all of this.

And to tell him all about it when they see each other again.

My Roman Empire is that Atsushi does act very much like Kunikida and that Kunikida knows it.

He knows it and actively tries to help Atsushi avoid making the same mistakes as him.

That we’re not superheroes that we can’t save everyone as much as we may try.

But when Kunikida sees that Atsushi won’t give up on what he believes in. That he turns back on that sinking boat to save Kyouka.

Kunikida encourages him to follow what he believes is right just as he would.
