I’ve been watching Rescue Bots with my mom (I showed her the Christmas In July episode at Christmas and she wanted to watch the rest of the series) and whenever the (adult) Burnses interact with each other I have to pretend to be Normal About It

We’re on the last two episodes and she doesn’t want to watch them because she doesn’t want it to end

Also she thought it was funny how Blades was being jealous of “the other helicopter” in To Infinity…And Back because “he feels like he’s being cheated on :(“ (btw Blades is her favourite character)

me and your mom can shake hands, i also can't bring myself to finish the last of rescue bots because i don't want it to end. also having blades as favourite bot is so based of her.

Now that I got more time to think about it combined with the realization that Gojo has actually been sacrificing selflessly all this time, the Shinjuku Showdown is starting to make sense.

There was a subtle development in both Gojo and Sukuna's attitudes over the course of their fight. The expositions just cut in between.

STAGE 1: Chapters 223-225

At the onset, Gojo considers this as a battle for the sake of everyone depending on him despite his jovial attitude and seemingly careless comments regarding Megumi's wellbeing. He is taking it really seriously.

Meanwhile, Sukuna is extremely dismissive of his opponent. He even went as far as calling Gojo a nameless fish. ---> Gojo was fighting selflessly. He was not supposed to have fun here. He needed to be practical and careful to win while keeping Megumi alive. ---> Sukuna sees that and is annoyed by it which results in his condescension. The pinnacle of sorcery is being selfish. A sorcerer must not care about anything and his opponent is faking it. He is insulted.

*This is also reminiscent of Gojo vs Toji Round 1. Why did Gojo lose? He lacks concentration and selfishness. He took on Toji alone to protect Amanai.

STAGE 1.5: Chapter 226

This is when Gojo started to forget fighting selflessly. This is the moment when he is starting to have fun and become selfish. He pushed himself into new heights by risking it all with the RCT healing his CT strategy.

Another thing are the notes in Chapters.

225: "The barrier of the Strongest shattered. His savage blade breaks the unbreakable." 226: "Sukuna's blade reaches Gojo."

I think these are working metaphorically as well. Gojo's Infinity is symbolic of his isolation from people. Sukuna breaking through it meant a change in Gojo's worldview - he is not alone anymore because someone can now reach him.

Gojo found an equal and was elated by it enough to start being playful without a care in the world.

Perhaps this is what the note meant in the end "Common sense won't prevail in this battle of the strongest."

Sukuna was already fighting using his instincts to satisfy himself. He wants to experiment and learn. He desires to be entertained with something new. For these reasons, he fights without common sense by refusing to use his full arsenal against Gojo.

I guess the video game comparison is not far off. Sukuna sees Gojo as a shiny new AAA game and he wants to speedrun him with limited weapons.

As for Gojo, he has only now let go of logic and careful selflessness. He is finally indulging to his instincts in getting pleasure for himself in reckless selfishness. The reason? He is no longer alone. There is finally someone who can stand beside him - fill the hole Suguru left in his heart.

I think this is the turning point for Gojo. This is the chapter when he starts empathizing with Sukuna.

STAGE 2: Chapters 227-229

Cutting out the exposition scenes, the mood in the fight feels different now. It feels like an intense gameplay instead between two rivals in a finale of a sports manga/anime.

There is banter between Gojo and Sukuna. Gojo is becoming more of a show-off. Sukuna is smiling a lot more even when he gets seriously beaten up. They are both having fun together because of each other.

However, while Gojo empathizes with Sukuna, he is still not too far gone. He still remembers his original objective. He was still able to pull himself back by thinking of Yuji. He wants to get back at Sukuna for the sake of his students - a selfless act.

This stage could have also been the turning point for Sukuna. This is when he realize Gojo may not be someone he should dismiss easily since he is adapting too quickly for him to study and beat with his own abilities. Hence, he finally used 10S and called Mahoraga. He needed a "hack" to accomplish his "speedrun". Maybe for Sukuna, forcing him to cheat is actually a sign of strength worthy of respect?

STAGE 2.5: Chapters 230

This is where things get interesting. In Chapter 230, Sukuna started a conversation with Gojo. I might even dare say that he is lecturing him. It's not something an antagonist should do, doesn't it? But he takes his time to explain himself and Gojo's condition before capping it off with "This is goodbye... but you turn out to be painfully ordinary."

I think, Sukuna immediately saw Gojo slipping back to his sacrificial nature. His opponent is prioritizing someone else again. In his eyes, Gojo's head is not in the fight again. He stopped being selfish which is being boring. Sukuna was disappointed.

That conversation may have been Gojo's doom. Sukuna could be perceived as vulnerable there - even lonely, because he sounded like he finally found an equal but Gojo fell short from his expectations.

But then the full effect of UV hit. The fight is still on. However, the damage is done.

Even tho he mentioned his students, when Gojo promises that he would show off, I believe he meant that it would be a performance for Sukuna to enjoy too - a promise that made the King of Curses smile like the rest of the students.

This is when Gojo ultimately decided to just be selfish from now on. He would just fight to his heart's content and look cool for as long as he can.

SIDENOTE: Why does the entire Shinjuku Showdown starting to look like a seduction/temptation of Gojo by Sukuna on hindsight?! WTF?!

STAGE 3: Chapters 231-235

This is basically STAGE 2 but even more unrestrained and devoid of any logic, common sense, and selflessness. There are more smiles and playful banter. Just two strong fighters indulging in battle.

Even the audience takes note of Gojo's change in behavior and worried if he had forgotten Megumi. To which, Kashimo said "Let him [forget Megumi]." because he understands what is happening. Selfishness is allowing Gojo to reach his full potential as a sorcerer. This is peak battle of sorcery. Nothing else matters now.

To us the readers and the audience in-universe, this is a scary battle for the sake of the world - it's life and death. Hence, Yuta's willingness to intervene. His instincts are telling him his teacher is in danger.

For Kashimo, Sukuna, and now Gojo, it is a once in a lifetime battle - it's a grand finale of a magical tournament. It's an intimate duel which is why Kashimo was pissed when Yuta attempted to help and comment on how modern sorcerers are so "dense" that they missed the point of the fight.

Again the notes are really interesting.

232: "That sword encroaches upon his life." 233: "The hand of the devil finally reached him. Gojo pushed to the brink."

On the surface, the notes are referring to Mahoraga. It can be interpreted as Sukuna himself too. He pulled Gojo into his orbit/level. He made the Six Eyes user indulge into his desires - enjoying sorcery to its fullest and completely forgetting everything else.

Sukuna took over Gojo's entire life in this battle. He reached Gojo and pushed him towards greater heights - exactly like Toji did after beating Gojo. Sukuna made Gojo "high" - again like Toji did for their Round 2 fight.

"High" Gojo/Enlightened Gojo has a completely different mindset from Teacher Gojo:

"I'm really sorry, Amanai [Megumi, Yuji, etc.]. I'm not angry on your behalf. I don't hate anyone. All I'm feeling right now is the pleasantness of this world."

This extremely selfish version of Gojo gave Sukuna the best ever show/experience he got in over a thousand years which led to the "controversial" ending.

END: Chapter 236

Looking back to on this arc, again if we cut away all the expositions and comments from the rest of the cast, everything was lined up perfectly actually.

Sukuna wants something different. He thought Gojo couldn't deliver at first but he got more than what he bargained for which was a lot of fun for him. Gojo is no longer a "nameless fish" for him. Instead, he would be a person he would never forget.

Gojo went in selflessly - the first line of defense for his students and their hopeful savior. However, this mindset held him back until he gave in to his desires to simply revel in his power and reach out to someone similar to him. He died while he was "high" aka "one with the world".

I guess... we can look at the situation in two ways:

Sukuna seduced/tempted Gojo towards selfishness. Gojo "fell" and died because of it.

Sukuna inspired Gojo to let go of all his attachments and embrace selfishness to become "more".

The Shinjuku Showdown is sort of a parallel to the beginning Gojo's journey as a character.

In Hidden Inventory, Toji "enlightened" Gojo towards the heavens but Gojo "went back to earth" with Suguru's help. However, his "return to earth" brought him nothing but the pain of loneliness as the strongest. He was chained down by duty and sacrifice.

In Shinjuku, Sukuna "enlightened" Gojo once more but he didn't allow him to "return to earth". He cut Gojo while he was "in heaven" or "in a different realm/reality". And so, Gojo dies feeling happy and free with no regrets. His "earthly" attachments were cut off or dulled which resulted to his behavior in the Afterlife Airport.

I have found a candidate.

Marcus the One True Sky Thing. A stunnable, beguilable Ice school boss in Selenopolis with a Life school minion.

Ice bosses in Selenopolis are kinda scary given the increased presence of B Path spells in Selenopolis, and Ice Freezes Storm, but its wiki page doesn't mention any B path spells.

Something to look into later.

I also really like this boss because

It casts many Absorbs on itself as its primary cheat, which do count as Wards that can be cleared for spells like Minotaur and Glimpse of Infinity.

It can cast Volcanic shield, which helps deal with the threat of the 10k triple buffed B Storm Lord

It can cast blades on itself naturally AND as a cheat

Its minion can cast Spirit blade and Spirit armor for Even More Charms and Wards that can be cleared.

Its minion CAN HEAL IT. No OT Heals according to the wiki, so we still have to use Beguile to get OTs onto Marcus, BUT we don't have to worry as much about keeping Marcus alive.

Its minion can cast Entangle (a dispel), Luminous Weaver (which gives a weakness), and Spirit Trap, which lets us Clear Curses and Jinxes for various hanging effects too.

There's no Damage over Times mentioned, and there is the question of if people can teleport into Marcus' instance, so I will keep looking.

HOW TO BE A GOOD VICTIM FOR THE WIZARD101 NUKE (which I guess is what I'm calling this project now)

High HP, so that it doesn't die to any of the B Path spells that stack buffs. We're currently looking at needing it to survive a Storm Lord coming off high damage stat (assuming 200, a 3x stat), and 3 hefty buffs on it (1.65 x 1.65 x 1.7). That is 10,000 damage without a crit, potentially 20k with. This damage can be mitigated by beguiling Legion Shields and Mass Tower Shields onto it, but still. yikes.

No self damaging moves in its deck (dark pact, empower, sacrifice, immolate)

No moves that can remove blades from target (Earthquake, Enfeeble All, Steal Charm, certain B Path Ice and Death spells) or traps from self (Cleanse Ward, certain B Path Life and Fire spells).

Not required, but nice to have

Casts weaknesses and/or infections, traps, and/or DoTs often.

Does NOT cast stuns or mantles. Bc stuns and mantles are annoying

My first thought is to look through various bosses in the game before mobs. See if there are any bosses out there that can be stunned and beguiled.

Time to see if anyone has ever made jsut a basic spreadsheet of every non-beastmoon creature in the game. There should be one out there, the Kimerith Windhammer bot exists after all.

Today was the day!! Y/n could hardly hold back her excitement. She had gotten up extra early to make sure everything was perfect, she had the whole day planned. She was going to pick Loki up, take him to lunch, go for a long walk in the park, just be together. She had found out there was a showing of Hamlet at a nearby theater, and seeing as that was what brought them together, she bought tickets to take him. She had went out and bought a new dress also. A dark green number, his color, with a low v neck that hit her mid thigh with a slit up the side, to drive him a little crazy.

She was all ready to go, she just had to run and pick up Loki's gift, a new dagger set, with snakes engraved down one side of the blade and his name in norse runes on the other. With the present in hand, she went to grab them a coffee. She knew he was up late because Thor dragged him to another of Starks' parties. As she drove towards the tower, she couldn't help the smile that spread across her face. After all the heartache she'd been through, she finally found her prince charming. Though at times she felt insecure about herself, Loki was always quick to kiss her and stomp out her doubts. To tell her she was the only one for him. She loved him, she knew she did. And today she's going to tell him. She had tried to call him as she got there but got no answer, he was probably still asleep she assumed. So, with his gift and coffee in hand she rode the elevator up. As it dinged open she went to find her Loki and tell him exactly how she felt................

Loki stood at the bar, ordering another drink. The only thing that would make this party somewhat tolerable. "Brother!!" He heard Thor bellow before harsh slap on his back. "Why are you hiding over here instead of talking to anyone?" Thor asked. Loki couldn't help roll his eyes at that. "The only reason I'm here, brother, is because you dragged me here. I have no interest in conversing with Starks friends" Loki snapped. "Loki, you know you have to get along with people now that your here. It will make things easier." Thor said. "I will suffer being here, making an appearance but I will do as I please while I'm here." Loki told Thor. This time it was Thor's turn to roll his eyes. "So be it, but I did bring something that may make the night a bit less painful." Thor said. At that, Loki quirked an eye brow and looked at him suspiciously.

Nat was behind the bar, mixing drinks when Thor and Loki came up. "What can I get you boys?" Nat asked them. "Lady natasha, would you make my brother here a drink with what I brought earlier" Thor said and winked at her. Loki, still eyeing him suspiciously wasn't sure what he was on about. Before Loki had a chance to question him Nat slid a drink in front of him. He wearily took a sip while Thor grinned at him. "You brought Asgardian liquor!?" Loki almost yelled excitedly. Midgardian drink couldn't even get him buzzed, so this was a treat. Thor laughed while clasping a hand on Loki's shoulder "I have a few tricks up my sleeve too brother" Thor bellowed. Loki couldn't help but smile at that.

As the night went on, and the more drinks Loki had, he loosened up. Starting to mingle and talk to people. He felt his phone going off in his pocket. He knew it was his love, no one else had his number save for the avengers. He looked at the text and couldn't help but smile. He missed her. He often wondered how he got so lucky, to have her by his side. He'd never felt this way before in all his many years. He knew she planned a whole day tomorrow but wouldn't tell him what they were doing. Truth be told he loved the mystery of it, his little minx. He wanted to tell her how he felt, he wanted to tell her how much he adored her, cherished her, loves her. He hadn't had the nerve to say it before but he decided tomorrow was going to be the day.

He had went to the jeweler earlier to pick up her gift. A beautiful ring with an emerald set in the center surrounded by diamonds. He had shown it to Thor when he got back to the tower. "Oh brother, I am so happy for you!" Thor said as he hugged him. "She makes me so happy Thor, happier then I have ever been." Loki said with tears in his eyes. "Do you think she feels the same?" Loki asked Thor. "Loki, she looks at you like you hung the stars, i know she loves you as you love her. Have faith brother." Thor said with a hand on Loki's shoulder. And he knew tomorrow was the day he was going to tell her he loves her..............

As the night went on, Loki had more and more to drink. He hadn't had Asgardian spirits in what felt like forever. He went to other another when nat tried to stop him. "Hey, you may to slow down a bit before you pass out." She said to him. And In his most princely voice "I am am a God, I know how to hold my drink." And demanded another, with which Nat obliged. Nat had a chance to get to know y/n when she spent time at the tower, and admittedly she likes her. She knew how you and Loki felt about eachother, and regardless of how she felt about Loki after New York, she was happy for them. She had seen Loki drinking alot and did her best to keep an eye on him, but you can't tell a God what to do. She had noticed a couple women trailing around Loki and Thor, but knew Loki wouldn't do anything, he was many things, but unfaithful was not one of them. She knew Thor was around too so she wasn't too worried. In hindsight she should have kept a better eye out, should have been more attentive. She should have done better.........

As y/n walked through the tower she saw no sign of life. "They must have been up pretty late" she said to herself. As she made her way to the kitchen to reheat Loki's coffee Tony walked in looking like a truck hit him. "Hey y/n, here to see Rock of ages?" He said as he put coffee on. She laughed "yes, it's our anniversary and I've come to kidnap him for the day." Tony laughed at that. "You two are sickeningly adorable you know that?" And they both laughed. She grabbed Loki's coffee and gift and told Tony to have a good day. "Go get em y/n" he said as she headed to Loki's room.

She was nervous, but excited. She knocked on the door but got no answer. She'd been here before so she decided to surprise him and go inside to wake him. As she walked in it was dark as all the curtains were drawn. She set the coffee and gift down and made her way slowly to the bed to wake her sleeping Loki. But as her eyes adjusted and she got closer she made out two figures in the bed. She thought maybe her eyes were playing tricks on her so she proceeded. But as she got to the bed her heart literally shattered.

Clear as day, she saw the long blonde hair of a woman laying next to Loki,  her Loki! They hadn't woken but she could see him snuggled up next to her, his face in her hair, arm wrapped tight around her, how he always snuggled up to her when she stayed the night. She couldn't deny how beautiful this woman was, she looked like a model, far better looking then her.  She felt her heart stop, she couldn't breath, she wanted to scream and hide at the same time. All she could do was stand there and stare, frozen in place. Time stood still. She felt the tears rolling down her cheeks before she could stop them. "You are the only one for me" his words repeated over and over in her head as she looked at them. Suddenly loki stirred, and she didn't know what to do but she knew she couldn't stay, she needed to leave, now! She slowly backed up towards the door and started to open it when she heard Loki call her name. She looked behind her to see him starting to sit up so she hurried and slipped put the door.

She stood there for a minute trying to comprehend what she saw, but she couldn't. He said he cared about her, said she was enough, she was the only one he'd ever want. Then why..........she couldn't take it anymore and started to run to elevator. She needed out, anywhere but here she thought. As she rounded a corner she slammed into someone. She stumbled back but was caught before she fell. "Y/n!!!" Thor bellowed, of course it was him, and the tears came harder. "Lady y/n, what is wrong?" He looked at her curiously. She looked up at him through the fog of her tears "ask your brother....." was all she could say as she pulled away from him. He grabbed her wrist to stop her "y/n, I'm sure whatever my brother has said he didn't mean, he has a hard time expressing himself sometimes and can seem harsh." She turned and looked at him, "Thor, I can't do this, I trusted him, I loved him, and he showed me he's no different then the others. all I was was something to pass the time until he found someone better." She said through her tears. "Y/n I assure you my brother lov.." Thor started but was cut off. "I am nothing Thor!!! I never was!!! Better I found out now then years from now!!!!" She shouted at him. At that he let her go. She stood there a minute, looked at Thor with ice in her stare "tell your brother I'm done, and not to get ahold of me again. I should have known better" she said and turned to leave before Thor could say anything else.

She made it to her car, and sat there for a minute before taking off. She drove for awhile, not knowing where to go, her mind was blank. She ended up at the park, so she went and sat on a bench and just stared out at the pond, completely numb. She should have seen it coming, what was she compared to a God, a prince. She was nothing, she was less then nothing. Never good enough for anyone. She didn't know how long she sat there until her phone started going off, it was Loki. She couldn't answer, so she turned her phone off. She sat there until the sun went down, crying until there were no more tears to cry. After awhile she made her way back to her car and went home.

She sat on her bed in her pajamas, and couldn't help thinking how happy she was when she got up. How today she supposed to be one of the best days. She was going to tell him, but now that will never come to be. She was the happiest she'd ever been, until she wasnt...........

Dream

“I remember that day clearly, my last birthday with them. Father knows I hate large gatherings, yet he threw me a big party anyways. Everyone showed up. The Leaguers, the original Leaguers, the Titans, my friends and family.

I didn’t appreciate it back then. Now I can only look back and wish I could experience it once more. Wish I could see them once more, happy, together, not having to worry about an ongoing war.

I remember racing my cousins. I wish I hadn’t cheated in that race. Uncle Jon said Mother had used the same trick when they were kids. I practiced magic with Tiago and the Constantines. I remember Aunt Kori pulling me into an unbreakable hug. She had told me I’m growing to be just like my mother.

I used to look like her. Both with purple eyes and purple hair. My skin had more color. Now I look nothing like her. I no longer have her purple eyes, but green like Father’s, my hair has become a brighter shade of purple.

I miss them. Father gave me a silver dagger that day. He never lets me play with sharp objects, we only used wooden sticks when training. Mother gifted me with a spell book, it contained a vast collection of spells ranging from beginners to highly advanced. I lost both of them. The only things I have left of my parents, lost, gone forever. I long for them to return. My parents and their gifts.

I wish for all of them to return. Not just my parents but everyone. I wished this never happened, I wish the war never started. I wish I had been more grateful for all that they have done for me.”

“Do you remember the day they left you at that place? That place that was supposed to be remote, guarded, and free of any upcoming parademon attack?” he asked the young girl.

“How could I not? That was the day I lost them. That was the day they left.

Grandmother Talia greeted us at the harbor of Infinity Island. I didn’t know, back then, that it was the last time I'd see them. They told me I’ll be staying with Grandmother for a while, I didn’t think of asking how long. Then they hugged me. I missed that. I missed the way they’d cover me in their warm embrace. The way Father wraps his arm around both me and mother. I caught a shimmer of a tear from the corner of Mother's eyes. I felt their sadness. It was when I saw that tear slip, that I knew something was wrong. When I felt Father fighting to keep his posture, his stoic manner, that was when I knew I would be there for longer than ‘a while’. I wish I could’ve told them how much I loved them, I wished I could’ve given them one last hug,” she closed her eyes. “But I didn’t. I didn’t because I was a dumb eight year old who didn’t know what to do.”

“Do you remember the day you died? The day those hybrids took you down? The day you visited me in my realm and left to rejoin the living? The day you left something very valuable behind?” he asked.

“Why are you asking me these questions?” she asked miserably.

He smiled. “Because Granddaughter, it is good to learn from the past, to take the pain and turn it into strength. Now, tell me of that day.”

“I-I remember running to the courtyard. There were screams coming from outside. An assassin crashed through the window, his legs were gone. I was...horrified, yet I kept going. I was stupid, thinking I could help. When I reached the courtyard, I saw corpses everywhere. Ripped up and severed. Grandmother and her elite archers were shooting down the creatures. My uncle calls them Paradooms. Parademons mixed with Kryptonian DNA. Grandmother’s supply of kryptonite-infused weapons was running low. I thought I was strong enough. I summoned beams of energy. I kept using magic until I had no energy left. I kept going. I should’ve stopped. I continued to fight. Picking up a stray sword with a kryptonite blade. It cut through plenty of monsters. Then Grandmother called my name. It was as if time slowed down. Her face contorted to horror, an emotion I have never seen her express. I felt a wave of emotions coming from her. Yet, nothing from myself. The pain was so bad, it felt like nothing. My vision had begun to blur when I noticed the sharp point of a claw emerging from my chest. I remember the paradoom falling as I laid on the ground. Grandmother rushed to my side. She told me not to worry. Then I came here. To this place you call home.”

“I never see this hellish realm as home. I am a conqueror of worlds, I focus on establishing and controlling new frontiers.”

“TT. We can agree that we have very different interests, Grandfather.”

“Indeed.”

“Now, I must ask. Why are you here? Why am I here? Why have you called upon me?”

“I am here to remind you. It takes a lot of energy to escape that prison in your mother’s head to visit you in your dream. This location is where your subconscious wants you to be, because deep down you know where to go. You know how to end this. You blame the Lazarus Pit for your loss of powers, but have you really lost your powers?” He gave her an amused smile, knowing the young girl was conflicted.

“Yes. No! I don’t know! I can still feel emotions, I can feel energy within me, but I can’t access it. I can’t perform a single spell, not even the simplest,” she confessed.

“The Pit is supposed to revive and strengthen the one of dips in it, that is if they are able to control the evil temptations of the Pit. You, Granddaughter, were already powerful. You still are. The Pit boosted your abilities, but you haven’t brought them back with you.”

“You’re saying...that I left my powers in Hell?” Rashida asked skeptically.

“What else could I be saying, dear?”

“What’s it in for you? Why are you helping me?”

“Because I would like to conquer Earth. I shall not let that weak, ‘New God’ destroy this planet before I do. Besides, I need a body to inhabit once I break free. Your mother won’t last, she is already weak.”

This got Rashida’s attention. “Then how do I get my powers back? How can I get to Hell without dying?”

“Hm. I’m sure that spellbook of yours would be useful. Once the proper ritual is performed, you should be able to enter and exit that realm.”

“But, I’ve lost it. The book was burned during the first paradoom attack.”

“You are the granddaughter of Trigon. The granddaughter of the first Batman, Bruce Wayne. The great granddaughter of Ra’s Al Ghul. The granddaughter of Talia Al Ghul. The daughter of Raven, the Queen of Hell. The daughter of Damian Al Ghul Wayne, the current Batman. You have a powerful heritage. I expect you to live up to your blood.” He gave her an expectant look. “And let’s not forget that family that took in your mother when you first came to Earth, the Kryptionians,” he added.

“Bart explained this to me the other day, something about a multiverse. The book is lost in this world. It no longer exists in this universe. However, there are many alternate universes, different worlds out there. If I’m able to locate the right one, I should be able to get that book”

Trigon smiled. “Correct, my dear. Now, time is running short. I suggest you make haste.”

Rashida looked up from her internal thoughts. “Wait, what do you mean by that?”

But it was too late. Her surroundings have begun to shift. Trigon had swirled into a translucent black shadow and disappeared through the cracks of the room. She no longer sat in the obsidian chair in the Underworld’s throne room. Instead Rashida sat up with a jolt in her uncle’s base. Her head was beaded with sweat. She left the little room, which she had claimed to be her sleeping quarter. Jason was still asleep in front of his computer. Judging by the position of the sun in the cloudy red sky, it was late in the morning.

Artemis looked up from her daily ritual of sword sharpening. “Good morning, kid.”

“Why did you let me sleep in?” asked Rashida.

“Last night was rough. I thought you needed the rest,” she glanced at Jason and Roy, who was still asleep on the worn down couch. Artemis held up a tin can. “Pineapples?”

Rashida accepted the fruit. “How did you get your hands on pineapples?”

Artemis shrugged. “Oh, you know. Quinn and her buddies were in the area.”

Rashida took a bite of the diced pineapples. “I have to say, I envy them. They get to do the cool stuff like infiltrating LexCorp. While, we’re stuck fighting off the parademons and thugs.”

“This’ll be over soon. And then, you can do the cool “infiltrating” stuff as well,” assured the Amazon.

I suppose what I’m saying is, I was never going to be a real archaeologist.

Man, this is a bit sad, isn't it?

I love the hunt, the research, and the discovery – but, to be honest, expanding the body of mankind’s knowledge, or helping a culture connect with its roots, has never been high on my priority list. Certainly not as high as money.

Okay, now it's slightly less sad.

I did notice something in the corner, though: about a half-dozen small bones, with carvings on each face. Dice.

Oh god, I didn't even realise, this is yet another poor fucker who gambled with Death and "won", isn't it? Like the guy in "Cheating Death" and the guy Daisy talked about.

Welp, that's not a pleasant thought!

Twitching, it pulled my hands away, dragging the knife out of its throat and moving my arm down lower, positioning the point of the blade on its chest, where the heart should be. Then it made me push the knife in. The poor creature hung there for a second, then pulled the knife out and made me stab it again. Over and over it made me do it, while its torso racked and convulsed.

This was the point at which this episode went from "meh" to "OH SHIT!" for me. The poor guy wants to die so very badly and can't.

In ancient Egypt, dying was the most important thing a person would ever do. (...) I cannot imagine what they would have thought of a person who could not die. I can imagine what they would have done to them.

This is such a shiver-inducing final line, though!

The only thing I have found is that Miss Gwynne is now training to become a teacher. I can’t deny I find a certain… cruel satisfaction in that fact. I feel anyone who brings me a statement about mummies deserves everything they get. - Jon

My impression of this episode

This episode is off to a very slow start and even when the supernatural stuff gets involved, it feels a bit too Halloween-y at first, like, "oooh, spooky mummy" but then the implications hit and I was pretty much bowled over. Episodes featuring the (It-will-not-)End get me every time. Immortality is TERRIFYING, yo!

Tom looked at Danielle curiously. ‘So T’challa is not your favourite?’

‘Fuck no, he’s irritating. He’s not thinking of what is best for Wakanda, he is thinking of what is best to have Nakia pay attention to him.’

‘I suppose you support Killmonger too while we’re at it?’ he chuckled.

‘Yes.’ That caused him to pause. ‘Not killing anyone not the same skin colour, that goes without saying, but Wakanda did nothing while the world was in turmoil. The Rwandan genocide, Nazi Germany, the slave trade in the US, they sat on their butts with their advanced civilisation thanks to the happenstance of Vibranium landing there and did nothing to assist others, being an insular is seldom seen as a good thing. Killmonger grew up in injustice, he was raised, educated to the wrongs to African peoples and he wants vengeance on his family for killing his father and I cannot fault him that particular reasoning. I just don’t agree with killing others who do not disagree with him, but are simply a different skin colour to him, that’s just wrong.’

‘You are really reading into the socio-political side of this.’

‘It’s fun to do it.’ She shrugged with a smile. ‘Is that not half the point of this particular movie, to have you question? I love M’Baku though. He’s fun.’

‘Of course, you would go for the sarcastic one. And Shuri?’

‘Great. But Okoye is my favourite.’

‘She was willing to serve Killmonger?’ Tom looked at her shocked.

‘Yes, as a General, not as a friend. She believes in the Dora Milaje and their role in protecting Wakanda and its throne. I respect someone who will fight for what they believe in, even if I do not agree with it and especially when I know they are conflicted but still do what they think is right by their code.’

‘And Nakia?’ Tom asked as they got into the car.

‘She was the voice of reason, she said the same as Killmonger, that Wakanda should do more internationally, but no genocides, but she said in wearing a dress, so naturally, no one listened.’

Tom chuckled. ‘You really invest yourself in characters.’

‘I do, go big or go home, really. Why call yourself a Marvel fan and not at least try to invest in it emotionally.’

‘But you dislike Ant-Man and Guardians of the Galaxy.’

‘I don’t dislike the Guardians, I just think Quill is an ass. I love Drax and Gamora is kick-ass.’

‘And Ant-Man?’

‘Yeah, was not a fan of that one.’

Tom chuckled again as they drove the route home.

‘What about you?’

‘I really enjoyed it.’

‘Can I ask, you were never a comic fan, yet you ensure you see everything now, is there a reason for that?’

‘Well, one, I want to support the other films on their opening weekend, my ticket counts towards their records, and two, I work at this, I want to at least know what people are on about when we all do panels.’

‘Are you on the panel with anyone from it?’

‘I will be, for the Infinity War junket, yes.’

‘Ah, that will be handy.’

‘Yes, so I just want to know what I am in the middle of. Could you imagine if they asked a big question of Black Panther and I was standing there looking utterly perplexed, it does not look well.’

‘I suppose not.’ She agreed.

'Plus, you know me, I love movies in general.' He smiled.

The pair said little more on their way home from the movie. It was a while later when Danielle was looking at an email that was sent to her phone during the film but which she ignored until then that they spoke more again. ‘Hmm.’

‘Dare I ask?’ In truth, Tom did not want to know what was going on with Safeguard. He did not trust Lucas on his statement that they were trying to make things easier for Danielle. His concern was her, if tomorrow, Safeguard crumbled, he did not care, even if Danielle was left penniless workwise, he could look after them until she got a new job, he would not care about the company, all he was concerned for was Danielle.

‘Apparently, we are getting a huge contract soon.’

‘Right? What does that entail for you?’

‘They are asking if I want a part in it.’

‘Do you?’

‘No.’ She stated firmly.

‘How much are they offering?’

‘Thirty thousand for one month’s work.’

‘And the reason you are declining?’

‘I don’t want it.’

‘Where is it?’

‘New York.’

‘You really don’t like New York.’

‘I really don’t like the idea of being in charge of the European Office and being dragged to the US, I want stuff here, in Europe.’

‘Fair enough. Thirty thousand is a lot of money, though.’

‘Have we a thirty thousand pound bill I don’t know of?’ She asked.

‘We do not.’

‘Then I don’t need to take it. Would you do something that you would think would have no positive or even fun addition to your career just for thirty grand?’

‘Honestly, I don’t think I would. Not if it meant being away from home for a month in a place I am not overly fond of, no.’

‘That is my feelings on it.’

‘What will they do if you decline?’

‘Offer it elsewhere. What can they say, I am a partner, they cannot force me into it.’ She smiled. ‘Besides, I have something coming up that month in Germany for three days for a shoot that I actually want to do.’

‘Where?’

‘Berlin.’

‘Nice.’

‘If you are free those dates, you could come, but I dare say I will be boring for most of it, it is all night work so I will have daytime to look around.’

‘We will have to see. I liked Berlin.’ He chuckled. ‘It’s odd, even after a year and a half of this, I am still getting used to being the one left behind.’

‘Well, I get longer stints of you being gone. I tend to only do smaller stuff so I am not as long at it.’

‘What about Game of Thrones?’

‘I was one of a few working on that, so it was not as bad, they also tend to film a lot of scenes together, so it was balls to the wall for about a month straight, then done and onto the next location, which was not my concern.’ Tom chuckled at her words. ‘Does it worry you?’

‘What?’

‘My going away with work?’

‘No.’ He looked at her. ‘Honestly, I miss you terribly, the dogs miss you terribly, but seeing you achieve what you want, seeing you do well at everything, it makes me happy for you.’ She smiled happily at him. ‘And I know I don’t need to worry about other things, as I hope you know you don’t have to worry with me.’

‘The fact you even are saying that worries me. I don’t ever think such things. If a person wants to cheat, there is nothing you can do that will stop that, I only hope that you remember what we said regarding being honest if you ever feel so inclined.’ Danielle stated, looking Tom in the eye. ‘I could never consider such a thing, I am too happy with you to fuck it up for well...nothing really. We enjoy each other’s company, we love spending time together, we like a lot of the same things, we are comfortable together, the sex is really good, I can’t see the allure of wanting anyone else for anything.’

‘“Really good”?’ Tom asked with a smirk.

‘Do you not think so?’

‘I know so, but it’s always good to get a compliment.’ He licked his teeth as he grinned. ‘How can I make it excellent?’

‘I wanted to talk to you about that actually, how do you feel about dog collars and strap-ons?’ She asked casually. Tom stared at her in horror causing Danielle to be unable to keep her straight face any longer and she snorted loudly before erupting in laughter.

Seeing that she was joking, Tom tried to get annoyed for a moment before chuckling to himself. ‘For fuck sake. I am not talking to you now.’

‘Worth. It.’ Danielle forced out between fits of laughter.

‘I am here, trying to be a good partner, trying to make our relationship and our sex-life better and you are being childish.’ He chastised. Danielle looked at him for a moment as though itching to say something. ‘If you utter one word about punishments or other such things…’

‘I said nothing, you did.’ She started laughing again as Tom looked at her, unimpressed before chuckling too. ‘What are you like?’

‘You can’t blame me for your perverted brain.’

‘You are the one that mentioned spanking.’

Tom laughed at her and shook his head. ‘But you are happy?’

‘With us, yes. Every aspect of us.’ She ensured to make clear. ‘I love you and I love everything you do for us.’ She smiled, kissing his hand. ‘And the sex is really, really good, no crazy leather contraptions required. I am happy with what we are doing.’

‘Damn, I was about to order us a full leather bodysuit.’ Danielle snorted in laughter at the image as Tom found himself laughing also.

Purple Thunder (Roger Taylor Series) Part 8

Notes: I always try to make the chapters longer but somehow they always nearly end up short? There won't be many more parts, so this series will come to an end soon, but I want to continue making one shots on this one. I listened to "Off to the races" by Lana Del Rey while writing. I had in mind, that reader wrote it about experiencing this chapter.  sorry for mistakes etc. English is not my first language.  Warnings: cursing, cheating, smut

The doorbell rang and you knew exactly who was waiting to get in on the other side. So you opened it. “I missed you so much, my love” Roger got inside and gave you a long kiss. “Hate being away from you” he mumbled against your lips. “Why did you tell him?” “Did you two meet up?” he loosened the hug he had you in. “yeah. Had lunch together.” “I’m sorry, darling. But you know he can keep a secret. At least for a while. Raised him right” he gave you a kiss on your forehead and you felt his smirk against you.

“But why did you tell him that we are sort of seeing each other?” “Sort of? Really?” He almost sounded disappointed. “I’m planning on getting a divorce for the chance of a sort of relationship?” “You what?” you were clearly shocked. Even though you kind of hoped to be with him, you never expected him to take action that fast. “Did you think I was joking?” Roger chuckled. “I already told you how I feel about you! I want to be with you, (Y/N)! I’ve made a fool out of myself for holding back my feelings too many times now. I want to get it all right with you.” Roger traced his fingers along your exposed skin on your arm, which your tank top could not cover completely.

“Let’s go on a holiday! Maybe the Maldives, Bali, anywhere you want. I want to spoil the hell out of you! Massages, sunsets with good food and fine wine… Just the two of us”

“I have to go to New York in two days” you interrupted him and he stopped his movements completely. “Because of your boyfriend?” “yeah” “I’ll come with you! Wait! we'll go right now” he took your hand into his again. “Now?” you chuckled, not believing his words. He could not come with you. What about Josh, the press, his wife? Anyone would find out. “Yeah.” you shook your head and he continued. “One phone call and the plane’s ready.”

He didn’t lie. It only took one phone call to inform the pilots, a flight attendant and a personal assistant of his. The latter made sure to gather some of his clothes, that he wasn’t able to pick up from home and book a fancy hotel, that met Roger’s requirements. He only texted his wife, saying he wasn’t able to make it home, due to complications with the upcoming tour. A foul excuse, which he used one too many times already. And it made you feel kind of bad.

But the warm leather of the cozy white crème seat on the plane, let you forget about everything that was wrong about this scenario real soon. There where you now. On Queen’s personal private jet. Your first time on one of those planes at all. In total, there were six creme lounge chairs on the plane, two grey couches that could fold out to make a bed, a one-person bathroom with a kind of marble sink, varnished wood paneling and soft highlights to light up the room a bit. Once the plane was up in the air, the flight attendant was already there, waiting to fulfill all of your needs.  

Roger was opposite you with a smirk on his face, pouring two glasses of red wine. He looked handsome with a black shirt on, sunglasses tucked to the front of it. Holding the glasses he looked classy, just like a million dollar man. You couldn’t stop admiring him, but the thought of why you had to fly out always crept in he back of your mind. You were on a mission. To leave things in the past and start a new chapter.

Roger handed you the glass and you clinked your glasses together. “To us.”  “To us.”

The flight attended provided you with some hot towels and you kept wondering what she must be thinking, seeing you on Roger going on a trip together. Giving you more privacy, she went to her own cabin in the front, near the cockpit on the jet.

“You look worried. What’s going on in that beautiful head of yours?” Roger caught you biting your nails. Of course you were worried, stressed and terrified. You shook him off, you needed to finish this on your own, a day left on preparing yourself how to end things with Josh. You knew there was only one way out. Once touched down in New York, a driver was already waiting to pick you up. Next stop – Four Seasons Hotel – a 4, 300 – square foot penthouse with a 360 – degree view of the city. The view was breathtaking, especially at night the lights made sure to light up every part. Uptown, Downtown, Midtown. It was all there.

As you admired the view, Roger came to hug you from behind, leaving a view kisses on your neck when he finally came to rest his chin on your shoulder.

It made you weak and nearly crumble, as he took your hand into his, giving your forehead a final kiss, before the two of you dozed off in each other’s arms.

You met Josh at an Italian restaurant near the four seasons hotel. He was already waiting at the table with a bouquet of roses. His serious face broke into a smile and he jumped up as soon as he saw you approaching the table. “Hi babe. I missed you so much” He hugged you and gave a peck on the cheek.

You ordered food and drinks and while consuming it all, you noticed that this was going to be the last time you would ever be in each other’s company like that. You were going to break up with him as soon as this was over. Your thoughts were completely consumed by painting all the different scenarios and scenes this night could end in. But what was about come, you never, ever could have guessed.

“(Y/N)” you were pulled back into reality.  Josh reached forward to take your hand in his. “We’ve been together for a while now. You know, I’ve never felt like this with someone else before and the scene right here isn’t perfect, but I just can’t wait any longer.”

Both of you had to run, so you didn’t get to answer at the scene. But once back in a cab, Josh demanded an answer.

“I’m sorry… Josh. I can’t” the smile was wiped off his face and tears started to form. He was embarrassed. “it’s because of him, isn't it? “ you didn’t say anything, you both knew the answer. Without any further discussion,, he demanded the cab to stop, got out and left you alone.

Meanwhile news went through about the newly engaged couple. And by saying they reached everyone, they seriously reached EVERYONE.

OH. ALSO. I want to investigate the krokosphinx fight itself. If its cheat traps don't reapply themselves, then it may be worth finding some other enemy to target. One that we can perhaps beguile in order to give it shields and HoTs that we can then Clear for more buffs.

Honestly given how insane B path trap stacking is turning out to be, it might just be worth it to swap.

Like. If we can force shields onto our target, then we can use Glimpse of Infinity 5 times (tier 2b, 3b, 4b, 5b, and the item card). That's 5 stackable 45% Myth traps, leading to a 6.41x multiplier (1.45^5)

Actually wait it is SO worth it to find a beguilable enemy instead because then we can use Rainbow Serpent to get a 1.7x Stormblade that otherwise couldnt be achieved ae well. That times the 6.41x is 10.89x, which is higher than the 8x multiplier you get from Krokosphinx's 3 100% traps from its cheat. AND you can also then HEAL the mob as well after each of the B Path spells so the chip damage doesnt kill it. Keep it alive and healthy until the NUKE.

... if we find an enemy that can use weaknesses and overtimes then we also get buffs dependent on clearing those hanging effects... It shouldnt be too hard finding mobs that cast blades and traps though finding mobs that'll SPAM enough blades and traps may be difficult, though you can beguile blades onto enemies.

The ideal enemy may be different depending on which school the hitter...

Please forgive me, this will be a needlessly long ragepost about the economy changes of Star Trek Online because I just couldn't take this in silently anymore. This year's Omega Event was the last straw.

I’m playing this game since season 11, the Agents of Yesterday expansion (now is season 18) which came out on July 2016. It was that golden age when there were still means to get your first million energy credits. 

      We played The defense of Starbase 24 STF to get some loot to sell to the vendors in game, we Toured the Galaxy once a day, we installed the ARC client and other games from ARC so we could do daily missions of logging in and playing them, so we could make 500 zen in a three months time (zen is the premium currency in this game)which was equivalent of 0.30USD.         We made KDF characters so they could farm Contraband which they can sell on the Exchange for people who wanted to make dilithium. There was a time when these Contraband was going for over 50K energy credits.       The Tour the Galaxy could make around 1 million energy credits if you managed to visit all systems in one quadrant, with the sector bonuses. Which needed a good ship, a special warpdrive which granted you cooldown on your full impulse, and maybe the diplomatic buff.         One run of Defense of Starbase 24 could grant you loot equivalent of 200-300K energy credits. 

And then the fun started.

They started messing with the economy with announcing the Infinity lockboxes which contained all of the previous lockbox contents. This was a double edged blade, for you could get every kind of ship from them, even from lockboxes which were already unavailable in the game, but on the other side, if you got a very rare ship from an old lockbox it was not so rare anymore, so you could sell them for much cheaper than they were before.

And then they took out the Starbase 24 STF and you could not go in alone to record your dps or collect loot. They said that they will fix it. As far as I know it is not in the game now.

Then they nerfed the Tour the Galaxy, taking away the sector bonuses, and I was surprised to find out that I don't get nearly as much money anymore out of this not so quick and fun mission.

And then the ARC client was reworked, and they took away the daily mission function, saying that it will come back. It never did.

Then the daily Endeavours came in which gave you perks so you could improve your space and ground skills. It sounded good until we realized that we are spending hours in the game every day doing these “little tasks” only to not fall behind in DPS and other stats to others who do them regularly. They almost burned me out completely and I was thinking of leaving the game for the first time.

The other thing with the Endeavours is that they rewarded boxes which contained dilithium occasionally and generally it became easier to get dilithium. So in the end Cryptic managed to mess up the dilithium exchange too, now dilithium is completely worthless, thus they killed the Contraband business too. Now it is rare to see a Contraband sell for over 30K energy credits.

They took out the Red Alerts too, so it became a nightmare getting the “Kill 30 tholian ships” endeavour, because you can only do that by doing the veeeeeeeeeeeeery long Azure Nebula Rescue STF.

There were Foundry missions where we could finish these endeavours quickly. (Foundry missions were missions made by players with a subscription. And they made missions to help with these endeavours.) And then Cryptic said that the Foundry missions are buggy and such, and that they must be removed. (ahha…) So there was no way to cheat out the Endeavours anymore.

Then with Discovery trending, they created Mudd’s Market, where you can buy previous event rewards for the premium currency (zen). But these prices are unbelieveable. And the funniest thing that this is not a joke, as we thought initially. The Vizier Class Tier 6 ship costs 14000 zen which is the equivalent to 140 USD (which is half the price of a life-time subscription). Normal zen ships cost around 3000 zen and ship bundles (which contain 9 ships sometimes) 12000 zen.

Normal zen ship bundle price The last straw was the Omega (Anniversary) Event now. We had these for years and this is one of the most grindy events of all. During the event you can farm ingredients for upgrading your items, your gear and ship fitting. And these ingredients were tradeable until now. So if you were lazy but still wanted to upgrade your things, you could buy them from other players, who sold their surplus. And you knew that there would be players who would pay you for grinding out their upgrades. Now they destroyed this too by making all the ingredients account bound. But not only those, even the items you upgrade with the omega upgrade become account bound, so you can no longer sell your epic MK 15 beams, torps or anything.

And now I am here, wondering how a new player should make any money in this game to buy his/her first Tier 6 ship? The prices of the ships are skyrocketing, and they are patching out every way to get money to buy them.

This is from the ones I actually saw:

Kamen Rider Kuuga: Love it. the designs are simplistic but work wonderful. I really like how much of a nice person the main character is and love the fights using the bike. I find the villains boring because they don’t really do anything other than kill people and the big bad doesn’t show up until the very end.

Kamen Rider Agito: I love the use of separate plotlines on this one. It drags in places, but I like the feeling of “stuff is happening” rather than every episode feeling like waiting for the monster of the week to show up.

I love the choreography on this one, might be my favorite. On top of that, I feel the villains have a lot more personality, even though you have no idea what the hell their deal is for most of the series.

Kamen Rider Dragon Knight: I am cheating on this one: I did not see Ryuki, but saw the americanized version. Overall, liked it, altough sometimes felt like a mess, not helped by characters introduced only to be “killed” almost immediatly.

Kamen Rider Blade: The definition of “the plot is moving forward, i swear!” it’s a show where you THINK something will happen, but it doesn’t. And to compensate, you have the characters fighting each other or changing sides. That being said, the series feels like a more refined Ryuki/Dragon Knight: Less riders, each one with it’s own set of cards, the powers are easier to understand, etc. Woudlnt’ call it bad but it took me until Leangle to find it interesting.

Characters are mostly fine. But Garren feels like the most inconsistent character in the entire show and I am mostly Meh on Blade. I like chalice and I wish we had more of Leangle.

The second Opening is among my favorites, though.

Kamen Rider Den-O: Meh. Mostly Meh. I don’t particularly like it. I don’t like Ryotaro (altough Takeru Satoh IS a highly skilled actor), I find the time travel stuff overly-complicated and I STILL have no idea what the villains were trying to acomplish, exactly.

It doesn’t help that the main villain shows up NEARLY THE VERY END of the series and dumps a bunch of claims that are not explained properly.

I don’t like the rider forms. I don’t find the monster designs particularly interesting and I find a lot of the characters annoying. I understand the series is intended to be funnier and more light-hearted. I don’t find it funny on the slightest.

Kamen Rider kiva: Flawed, but I really like it. as I mentioned, my favorite part is by far is the designs, particularly Kiva’s. His final form is probably my favorite final form period. Stylish, imposing, but not overly designed. But I like all the characters. I love the use of past/present storylines, I like the characters and I don’t care that most of the series is Monster of the Week until the love triangle show sup. I really enjoyed most of the series and Otoya’s plot in the past was a ton of fun.

Kamen Rider W: Really good. It’s mostly “2-episode stand-alone monster of the week” stuff, but it is used effectively, with really good victims of the week and the whole “Private Detective” theme. It also helps that, for once, the villains do get focus and we get to see what their plans are.

Sure, we don’t get the entire motivation within the first few episodes, but it is nice to see the villains going “yes, there is a reaosn why we are doing things this way”.

Kamen Rider OOO: Another with “2 episode-arc stand-alone monster of the week” stuff. Love the dynamic between Ankh and Eiji and I find OOO pretty cool. Altough I find it hilarious that it is practically canon that OOO’s base form is worthless, which I don’t think it was a thing since Kuuga.

The show DOES want to seem like there is serialization going on, with the end of every episode giving a count of how many medals the heroes have but... no, it is not. most episodes are self-contained and do not have an impact on the overall plot. It is also the only series that made me go “I want the toys”

I SHOULD dislike the villains, since like 75% of their dialogues is “I want medals. As A Greeed I want medals. I desire. I represent desire without control. GET IT!?”  but I like them a lot. I also like they actually do stuff and take part in fights. they aren’t constantly in the background being vague.

Kamen Rider Birth is BORING. i don’t like the designs nor the two dudes who get the belts and the whole “using common cells” always seemed incredibly impractical to me.

kamen Rider Fourze: Mostly meh, but saved by an overall pretty fun cast. It also had the character’s main base on the moon, which is seven levels of awesome. I wish it had done more with Fourze’s powers. A lot of the time it felt like “here is a power. Done”. WHich I get. it’s supposed to sell toys and you have 40 switches to sell + all the gadgets. I just wish they had found a better way to integrate them.

I did LOVE the crossover with OOO. That one was just perfect and the final fight was one of the coolest fights in any kamen rider series. i don’t even care it looks like a ps2-era cutscene. it’s just that good.

Kamen Rider Wizard: I like Wizard’s design... also INFINITY......... well, that’s pretty much for positives.

Dull, uninteresting cast, REALLY pushing it on the “2 episode monster of the week” stuff. characters just sat around doing nothing waiting for the plot to start.

Not a single interesting one-shot character. the main villains were generic and dull. The main big bad is there to be vague and seemingly threatening. i REALLY was forcing myself to finish it.

Kamen Rider Gaim: One of the best written Kamen Rider series. the characters are complex and interesting and there is more serialization this time around. There is a ton of riders fighting riders, but this time it doesn’t seem without reason: Characters are consistent and always do things that are logical FOR THEM to do.

highlight for me is the fight between Gaim and Marika, which is one of the single best rider fights in the entire franchise. it’s well choreographed, it’s tense and the conclusion doesn’t feel forced.

That is anothign thing I can say: Tense moments DO feel tense. scenes have weight to them. Both because of the strong writing as well as the strong acting.

Kamen Rider Build (yeah I skipped like three series after Gaim): Really good at making it seem like stuff is happening.

By this I mean that stuff WILL happen and characters WILL be pro-active, do stuff and move around- But the plot itself will remain unchanged for another 5 episodes.

This is not a criticism. I preffer a show that is static, but has the characters trying to be pro-active, rather than the characters sitting around doing nothing and waiting for the plot to happen.

I am eh on the designs. I like Night Rogue (Lucky me he is completely discarded by the end...) but everyone else is...  just eh.

I liekt he characters and the overall theme of what makes one a hero and all that stuff.

i was just thinking about that rant i made about avengers infinity war and how i saw avengers endgame a little while ago, well after it got out of theaters because i wasn’t truly willing to give marvel money for that, and now i just wanna go off the hook about the movie because i can  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

i’m not even putting it in a read-more for spoiler purposes so much as putting it in a read-more because it might end up being long, but there are spoilers ahead anyway so for those five people who haven’t seen endgame and do care, be wary

funny thing is, i actually didn’t hate this like i expected to when i heard that time travel was one of its core constructs, but you know what i still don’t think it was worth the hype altogether and here is why

perhaps to make up for the fact that they didn’t kill any of the OG avengers, or for the fact that they probably didn’t need to exist in the first place, the snap apparently killed literally every single member of Hawkeye’s family that is not Clint himself. i guess we need an excuse for him to turn into Ronin, so let’s make his family expendable, why not

this film does us the discourtesy of confirming shuri’s fate as one of the fallen from last movie and the russos will pay dearly for this

the idea of destroying the stones with their own power was already proven a thing in the last movie when wanda did just that with the mind stone (while holding off five other infinity stones and a titan worth of power with one of her hands, by the way) but given the massive shockwave that occurred from THAT stone’s destruction? are you really willing to tell me he snapped again, had half his body disintegrate, and then the glove with all six stones just puffed into smoke?

actually how cool would that have been? that they arrive on the garden planet of whatever and thanos is just a fucking toasty corpse in a crater, and they realize what he had to do for that to happen? now i feel a little cheated

man, i knew from square one when i saw the first few trailers for this film that okoye was gonna get sidelined HARD, and she had maybe one or two spoken lines in the whole film? i get it, there are a lot of characters to go over in this big epic conclusion to the MCU’s biggest property/ies, but they definitely could’ve given the black panther cast a bit more love than this. i think i’m just salty over that bit though

did ronin kill in the comics? was that a thing he did? was he basically clint barton going jason todd for a little while, was that what it was? because please point me in the direction of those books if so

i really, really can’t argue much about the pym particle bits and the quantum realm (was that the one?) because time travel is a lot like nuclear physics when it comes to movies and comics and just works however the writer needs it to work in that situation, whether that refers to the means or the ends. i am glad however that antman gets this much attention as if he’s a legit member of the avengers. you know. like how he was one of the og members in the comics.

you know what i can argue about? how they try to sell their first attempt at time travel anWAIT JUST A MINUTE I FORGOT ABOUT BIG BANNER WHAT IS THIS HOW DID HE EVEN MANAGE THAT SHIT

i guess he had like five years to study and figure out how to make himself hulk on the outside without sacrificing the banner brains, but i’m very curious as to what the purpose is in doing that, since he was having more issues releasing hulk during the previous film and also the fact that he really had zero reason to fuse the two together. like, what threats was banner gonna face? what evildoers did he need hulk work for? if he needed some muscle of his own he could’ve just worked out????

you can also say that was bruce’s character arc during the first film actually, which is fine, but i’d like to note that if it is, then his character arc is resolved completely off-screen

listen, i get it. tony and pepper are a thing that had to happen, according to literally every film before this. i still think pepper deserves better or at least someone who doesn’t cause her as much stress as tony has caused for her. i mean i guess if that boy brings in the money though, do what you gotta  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

we get one scene of ronin at work and i kind of love it? i kinda wish we got to see more of his work, but i get why we don’t. this is like, the best thing that clint has to offer in this film

oh right i almost forgot, that first attempt at time travel with scott “having time moved through him.” cute gag, but this definitely doesn’t fly with scott’s first mingling with time travel and the quantum realm or whatever, and if we’re to assume they mostly repeated what they did during the post-credits scene of antman and the wasp, then why did this even have a risk of happening????

that was a cute gag though, mainly because paul rudd is a treasure

and since i’m discussing the time travel bits: the time travel in this movie is handled fairly well, and it introduces the prospect of timelines diverging rather than just having one singular strand of time flow! great! cool! but this has some bumps here and there in the film for the sake of drama, and this is the first instance:

clint travelling back to see his family for just a split moment of time. this is a moment that toys with rules constructed later, though i think that is a mixed bag and maybe i missed this detail. in every instance after this one, when the cast wants to return to a specific time in the future (their actual timeline and present) they sync up their time gps thing, but in this case? clint has no chance to do that. we don’t cut out a single second of his trip in the past, and i don’t recall him even looking at the time gps ONCE, and yet he can be forcibly pulled back to the present???

this is actually one of the only faults i can think of in the time travel, and they probably actually set that gps ahead of time, so whatever, maybe they actually handled time travel well here???

actually this made me remember a thing: couldn’t they have sent someone to grab the tesseract in asgard in case something went wrong in new york? they were right about picking the right year and time to get three infinity stones in new york, but they also managed to pick the right year and time to get two stones in asgard, so why not snatch that up as a failsafe?

thor really fucked over an alternate timeline by grabbing mjolnir from them, huh. cap couldn’t return that shit, after all; they need mjolnir for when we finally get the Mighty Thor. like, good moments between him and his mom, and that whole “i’m still worthy” thing was great, but are we gonna talk about the timeline that got fucked over for that???

so did they not discuss WHY they needed two people going to vormir ahead of time, or what? did nebula not tell them? she totally did, right? like did she not mention WHY gamora didn’t come back with thanos after he got the soul stone? why are they surprised when the mention of a sacrifice comes into play???

apparently only women die in vormir, and usually to advance the character arcs of men. i dunno i wouldn’t be too sore about this hawkeye sacrificing himself

anyway so they pay homage to every hero from the past twenty-odd films real quick, and they make the right choice in putting the black panther crew first, but i can’t help but think about how this is all just fanservice

wanda comes in to remind us that thanos ain’t shit without the infinity stones and NEARLY KILLS HIM ON HER OWN so someone explain to me why she doesn’t AFTER she gets back up???? like, can we assume killing thanos would put an end to most of this fight and send the rest of his forces running?

i already mentioned the fanservice level that came with the heroes entering on the scene, right? let’s not forget that the shot of all (minus one) the marvel women coming together is also mostly fanservice with no real meaning and it could’ve been cut from the movie and the narrative would not be too heavily adjusted, just as a reminder that marvel isn’t really treating the women of their properties well on film

okay but actually, the peter and ned reuniting scene got me much harder than any amount of tony’s death and funeral

seeing the wakanda crew serving up looks during tony’s funeral just reminds me that okoye got maybe two lines in the whole film, t’challa got Maybe One, and shuri got shafted for lines, and that makes me sad

i think Old Cap reuniting with sam on the bench is great and all, and a real good closing to steve’s character, however i have some questions to ask about it, namely how steve ended up in the same timeline after we made ABUNDANTLY CLEAR we were playing by diverging timeline rules, unless what you’re trying to tell me is that there was an Old Steve that just existed in our timeline the whole time and the fact that we never focused on Peggy significantly enough allowed yall to sneak that in

My problems with Avengers: Endgame

Someone on Youtube described Avengers: Endgame as being like The Emperor’s New Clothes.   The emperor was given clothes “so fine” that only the most enlightened and wise could appreciate / see them.   There were no clothes but no one wanted to be the one who didn’t “get” the fineness of the material.   Finally a child blurted out “He’s naked!” and that’s when people relaxed and admitted yes, the emperor was naked.    The way Avengers: Endgame is like The Emperor’s New Clothes is that no one seems willing to admit the film is flawed.   It really is flawed.   At least, I feel it is.  Here are my biggest complaints about Avengers: Endgame.

1.   The Time travel.  Taking a dig at Back to The Future doesn’t suddenly make the Avengers version of Time Travel more sound.   The lore indicated in the film is that when you alter the past you create a deviated timeline (actually enter an alternate universe.  For each possible outcome of an event there is an alternate universe.)  But the film claims you won’t come back to that new timeline when you come back to the present, you come back to the original timeline where things went as they originally intended.   This contradicts everything Stephen Hawking has ever suggested in A brief History of Time.   It is more likely that you would be in the new alternate universe timeline and not the one you originally came from, going home to your original continuity would be exceedingly difficult.

But supposedly this is how time travel works in the MCU because that’s why Valkyrie is still there (the events of Thor: Ragnarok happened).  Yet those events did not happen in the timeline where Loki escapes with the Tesseract. 

This also heavily indicates that the Loki that had the most character growth is definitely dead (the directors said so) but the AU Loki that had no character growth after Avengers will get a TV show?

2.   Another problem I have with Endgame is they want to have their cake and eat it too.  Loki escapes so that’s a new Alternate Universe (AU) / Alternate timeline yet Cap goes back and he’s still in his original timeline so that they can see him as an old man- contradicting their own earlier statements about time travel and the multiverse.

3.  Cap should not have aged.  In the original comics Super Soldier serum greatly slows down or even stops aging.  Black Widow is a super soldier in the comics and actually in her 80s, not her twenties or thirties.   She just looks young.   Why did the films feel the need to nerf super soldier serum?   He could very easily have lived out a life with Peggy AND come back as youthful Cap to continue to be Captain America.  I am tired of powers being reduced by Marvel.  I look at things like DC’s Doom Patrol and most of the characters haven’t aged in decades.  Why is Marvel so afraid of things like that?  Come to think of it, I hate how Marvel downplays its supernatural side just so they can get that coveted Chinese release.  From Odin saying “We are not Gods!” to The Ancient One disappearing after her body dies...    Can you really imagine Blade and Dracula existing in this universe?  Yet they are supposed to.    I’ve lost faith in Marvel respecting its own Supernatural side ever since  The Darkhold (Marvel’s Necronomicon) was turned into “Alien tech” on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

4.    Valkyrie should not have been left ruler of what remains of Asgard.   My problem here is Valkyrie has not had the character development she needs to lead.  If she had her personality from the comics it would be one thing but when we meet her in the MCU she’s a slave trader who has delivered people to the arena to die all because of her own chip on her shoulder and resentment.  She never shows any remorse for this but she’s going to lead a people now?

5.   I don’t really like Thor “passing the torch” at all considering his entire story was teaching him how to be a good king.  I ultimately feel cheated in regard to the Thor films and their purpose that he’s just going to travel the stars now and leave his people to someone who hasn’t had the character development she needs to be a leader.

6.  Thor got fat after just five years for a cheap laugh... Do I really need to go into detail here?

7.    I have no problem with Sam eventually becoming Captain America but I feel they should not have skipped the step where Bucky becomes the next Captain America first (see the comics).   There are still Tony Stark fans out there who wish Tony had killed Bucky.  Fans who somehow do not grasp what it means to be under the mind control of another to such a degree that Bucky could not even make the choice of if he wanted milk or not.  He had no free will at all, he was literally a puppet.   And yet there has been no pause in the narrative for Bucky’s exoneration to be understood by those who still want Tony to kill him for something he had no control over after his mind was scrambled. In the comics Bucky went on trial for his crimes as Winter Soldier and it was Black Widow who presented video footage of the physical and mental torture, hypnosis, ect, used to destroy Bucky’s free will and personality and how miraculous it was that he recovered.   Even now many fans don’t get how innocent Bucky truly is because they haven’t seen the brain washing processes shown in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D or the comics. Bucky’s arc should have included his redemption and forgiveness for what ultimately was never truly his fault anyway, this (in the comics) reached its climax when he took up the mantle of Captain America.   Later in a different storyline when Steve’s Super Soldier Serum was removed from his blood stream (somehow causing rapid aging as being a Super Soldier in the comics greatly slows or even halts the aging process) that was when Sam became Captain America.    

I don’t mind Sam becoming Captain America but I wish Bucky’s story and redemption and acceptance by others had played out first.

 8.  I hate that they killed Black Widow.  I already felt like they were trying to overshadow the established female heroes with Captain Marvel and this did not help matters.  We gain a female hero so we have to lose one?  Is that how this works now?     

Also I found out the writers of Endgame “Had no idea” (Yeah, right) “a Black Widow movie was in the works” when they killed her off.   So is that an official “Oops, our bad.”?  Half the audience still doesn’t understand multiverse if they make the Black Widow movie an Alternate Universe.   And a good portion that does understand multiverse wouldn’t want to watch a film about a Black Widow that is not actually the one they were attached to, just the same actress.   And if they make it a prequel some don’t want that either.  They have already cripple the potential audience size for the Black Widow movie.  

9.    I hate the idea of the main continuity versions of Gamora and Black Widow souls being trapped for all eternity.   That’s not how this works in the comics and it’s unfair here that good people should be trapped for all eternity.   

10.  (Warning: This one is petty.) “I love you 3000″ is cute.  And I get the original source.  But this is a slight nitpick. Wouldn’t a child with Tony’s intellect be more likely to say “I love you, infinity”?  No, not for the film title, but because it means... well, endlessly.  Three thousand is actually quite limited, as any genius would know.  (I said this one was petty.)

11.  “Although I’d like to join the crowd in their enthusiastic cloud, try as I may it doesn’t last...” - Sally’s Song from Nightmare before Christmas.  Avengers: Endgame isn’t really bad but I do feel it is overrated and everyone wanted to like it so badly that I feel like many people are willfully ignoring the flaws because they are still riding the high that it has finally been released.
