I'm reading a fic where Leia found out Luke's father was Vader and Luke's immediate response was to apologize to her. The way its framed you could say that he is apologizing for keeping it a secret from her, but I had initially read it as "I am sorry I am Vader's son.", "I am sorry for who my father is." And it hit so hard.

He is apologizing for something he had no control over, no knowledge of before Bespin. He is apologizing for who his fucking father is. It made me sad and angry. How the weight of Vader's identity brings him down and threatens to keep him there. How are you supposed to save the galaxy if the blood of its destroyer runs through your veins?

About the musical themes in Stampede!

I just love how in the Stampede soundtrack, the TRIGUN STAMPEDE theme is very chaotic and diverse, very much like Vash himself and the livestyle he chose. It even has a rap section included, and if that isn't a great way to hype up a character then I don't know what it is.

Knives' though? Very orderly, grand and classically inspired. It repeats his motif time after time, almost obsessively. It piles layers after layers until you're left with this enormous wave of sound that's just amazing. I think it represents his logical and cold headed demeanor very well.

The show creates a very noticiable contrast between the twins, not just visually with their character designs, but also musically, both carrying a distinctive sound with them. They couldn't be more different and I just love those little details.

i showed my cousin the scene where Knives and Vash are flying and fighting over the cube, and when they got into outerspace and they were both struggling with it my cousin fucking went and said

"Isn't it interesting how they're both flying together, completing their wings, but they are also not together as siblings who understand each other?"

It sucks that a series like Trigun has to adapt to the 12 episode standard that we have nowadays. There's so much to develop and no time to do so. Hopefully we get a second season.

I HAD TO WATCH EPISODE 9 TWICE BECAUSE ITS SO GOOD AAAA

So one thing I noticed is that keeping up with the leitmotif discussion, they did really interesting things with Knives' theme this episode.

Starting with, it turns out it's not only his theme. It their theme.

SPOILERS FOR EPISODE 9

The episode starts with the two of them as kids playing the piano together. The song they're weaving together is what we thought was Knives' theme. But when Vash plays with him it has new aspects to it. It sounds even bigger, more complete. As if the song itself is meant to be played by two pairs of hands.

Then, halfway through the episode, when we watch them confront each other and Vash activates his Gate, it's Knives' theme we hear, except its the same version that played when Knives' first showed up. It has lost it completed quality we saw when they played it together. They've become separated, fragmented.

When Knives' leaves and promises he'll create a new Paradise, we hear the theme a THIRD time, except now its an orchestral version, coupled with a choir. It's not longer the piano just being played, this is not just about them anymore. It's about the world and what will happen to it.

This is just amazing.
