not to be delusional on main but i truly believe that tomgreg has the potential to go canon. greg’s dad is gay and if there’s one thing this show loves it’s generational similarities (and why bother having that be a plot point if not for later use). tom’s open marriage and hesitancy to cheat but easy intimacy with greg. the eventual crumbling of said marriage and tom’s subsequent closeness with greg as a blatant replacement for shiv. the ‘would you kiss me’ line, the ‘you’re mine’ water bottle pelting scene, the forehead kiss. not to fucking mention nero and sporus. tom has killed his wife, pushed her down the metaphorical stairs, and all that’s left now is for him to dress greg in her clothes and kiss him on the lips. all i’m saying is that i think the writers of succession are too smart to lay all this foundation and not follow through. it’s too good a show for that.

To her credit, she's tried to break free and impart on her mother and anyone who will listen through a series of coded blinks that she's being held hostage but you and Lorelai keep throwing her back in the ring and thwarting her escape. I've spent weeks, months actually, trying to convince myself it wasn't true (it's been a year, actually) that everything was fine between us. You're into him and he's into Shane. Just thinking about how Dean is this pissed about Rory's behavior but he's still completely unaware (and will never be aware) that she also kissed Jess and cheated on him 😽 But then he cheats on his own wife and then Rory cheats on Logan with Jess and then Rory has an affair with Logan so in the end they all cancel each other out I guess. The only one of our fickle quadrant of bed hoppers who never knowingly cheated on anyone and the only boy Rory never cheated on was Jess. We now return to our regularly scheduled programming.

*Rubs temples* look...ugh. I don't really condone Dean yelling at Rory in public. Maybe they should have "Gotten a room", as Rory is fond of saying after learning that term for the first time 2 weeks ago. But in light of Rory's shenanigans, I kind of understand. Not only that, but taking into the account that this scene signals his merciful and long anticipated stepping down as Rory's Primary Male Life Ruiner and handing that crown to Jess, I am waving my Dean Card. I'll give him this one. Let her have it. Get it out of your system. Things with Jess are going to be so much simpler! Yes indeedy, Rory Gilmore. You are going to be riding the train to Easy Street now! Every day with Jess Mariano promises nothing but rainbows, sunshine, and puppydogs made of cupcakes. Let the shit show commence. i mentioned it before but i just LOVE how whenever lake and jesse's bond is discussed, the writers chose to always use the word "friend" and not "love"

it's "you're my friend, i'm not gonna leave you here" and "we're friends and that's real". and not "i love you" or "we love each other"

like "love" can very much be used to describe platonic love (like how tulip said "i love you guys" to atticus and one-one) but it's an ambiguous term. and normally something ambiguous like that would be perfect for how jesse and lake's relationship is written but... that's not how fandoms tend to work. many fans will hear the word "love" and, if it's not EXTREMELY obviously platonic (like say, between a child and a dog and a robot), they will jump to the conclusion that the word is being used in a romantic sense

they'd reduce every "i love you" down to simple shipping fuel, every act of devotion down to "awww someone's got a crush". all nuance would be boiled out to fit them into generic ship molds. and that would do SUCH a disservice to these two's story

like even if you do ship these two romantically, it's not just a romance. like, they'd be friends first and foremost and dating second, y'know?

gosh, it’s been so long since i’ve read and written it, but i think i wrote a bit about his relationship with jieun, and how it was mostly physical and pretty shallow even though they were together for a year(?). and considering that jk is a jock, most girls were only after him bc of how hot he looked, no one ever really wanted anything more. so, that could’ve definitely played into insecurities with him and oc. he was honestly just treating her like other girls, and when he finds that oc just wants to be friends…he’s like how tf do i do that?
