第10回目の今回は、ちょいといつもの屋根裏部屋から抜け出して、出向先の仕事場のスタジオで...そう、屋根裏、やっぱり暑いんです！！

そうそう、日本で、「ゴスペル」が一般的になったきっかけって、やはり、「天使にラヴソングを...」からですよね。そのちょっと前に、ゴスペルをモティーフとしたミュージカルの、こんなサウンドトラック盤がありました。この「Mama, I Want To Sing」は1988年発売の、ブロードウェイでのオリジナルアルバムです。これを手にしたのは、屋根裏B&Sの第4回目に出て来た、地元いわき市小名浜に在った「べにやレコード」だったと思います...。やはり25年近く前のことかな。今、改めてライナーノーツを見たら！Living LegendであるNew Orleans在住のギタリスト山岸潤史氏が書いているではありませんか！...って、当時は無論知る由もなく。そして、今回、このアルバムで取り上げた歌唱一曲！では、Drs: James Gadson, B:Bobby Watson, G:山岸潤史・David T Walker, Pf:Les McCann, Organ:John Black という錚々たる顔ぶれ！...無論当時は知る由もなく。今だからこそ知り、その音を噛み締める訳で...。第一にはやはり、このDoris Troyの深く広いヴォーカルにとにかく心を掴まれ、「あなたの才能は恵みなのよ。人と分かち合うことができるの」という呼びかけから、幾度となく、励まされ続けた一曲なのでした。歌い重ねるたびに、心がグッと入り込む歌なのだなあ。ミュージカルのストーリーの為の挿入歌だけれども、あらゆる人に響くメッセージがあると思います。久しぶりにガッツリとスタジオでシャウトしましたので、いつもより多くの方の耳に触れますように...
