I SEE YOU (2019) Grade: C-
Everyone keeps talking about the twist, but once they show the main one early on, the rest are out of left field, make no sense, and make so many of character look like idiots.

Freeflow Institue
Freeflow Institute is a Montana-based collaborative offering seminars, workshops, and adventures for creative people in Earth’s wildest classrooms (freeflowinstitute.com). “I feel very fortunate that Freeflow combines all three of my professional affections! Guiding, teaching, and writing are all wonderful as independent endeavors, but Freeflow allows them to work in concert with one another. It’s built upon the premise that all writers, leaders, educators, and artists benefit from time spent outside,” says the founder of Freeflow, Chandra Brown.
“The ultimate goal is to empower people from diverse backgrounds as leaders and as advocates for wild rivers, while equipping them with the tools necessary for self-expression through art and storytelling. For all of our students, we aim to share the power of reflection, self-awareness, self-reliance, and storytelling as tools for understanding one’s place in the world.” - Chandra

Chandra Brown grew up in the Matanuska Valley in Alaska before moving to Bozeman to complete her undergrad at MSU. Now, she’s in Missoula where she completed her Master’s degree.
When Chandra isn’t skiing or kayaking with friends, couch-cuddling with her giant Labrador, Arlo, or making dinners with her sweetheart, she might find herself at dance parties or falling asleep with a good book in her hands.
“I have (almost) equally allocated affection for education, wild rivers, and creative writing.” Says Chandra, so you can imagine that Freeflow Institute was a natural next step for her.
Here at the LaunchPad, we see Chandra often for business plan building and free legal consultation. When we asked her what her relationship was like with the LaunchPad, she replied, “I just met with Paul [Gladen] today! I call him, to my friends, my ‘entrepreneurial therapist.’”
Tumblr media
On her business planning meetings, Chandra says, “The LaunchPad was absolutely instrumental in the conceptualization and initiation of Freeflow Institute. The advice and guidance I received - and continue to receive! - was vital to my confidence as a fledgling entrepreneur.” Chandra says. “As a fledgling entrepreneur, with zero experience in business operations, I was afraid to make mistakes. Paul encouraged me to develop tools and strategies to develop my company with care and intention. And while I still make plenty of inevitable mistakes (and will make many more as time goes by!), my experience with the Launchpad has taught me to make good choices, rely on smart systems, and reach out for help when I get stuck.”
When it comes to the legal counseling Chandra has received through the LaunchPad, she says, “Jeremy Brown and the legal advising team has given me confidence and insight into a side of business that was completely foreign before we started working together. I am incredibly grateful for the Launchpad and for the staff who generously share their knowledge and experience with UM alumni.”
We are so thrilled to be able to help people like Chandra and startups like Freeflow thrive.

Design of a Testing Apparatus for a Remote, Solar Powered Cooling System
Project Description
Objective: Replicate the fluid dynamics of stream based on measurements taken by South Dakota Game Fish and Parks.
Constraints (partial list)
Model size less than 6 ft by 6 ft
Accurately replicate the flow of the stream
Instrumentation for temperature and velocity
Fit 1.5 ft by 1.5 ft prototype
Scaling
1/10 scale was determined most feasible
70% cut off of upstream and downstream sections
Reynold’s number held constant
Design
Stream Bed
Spray foam between plywood cross sections
Cheap, lightweight, easy to form
Waterworks
“Boil Box” to deliver water in a manner more similar to the stream
Two 250 gallon reservoirs
Gas powered water pump
Instrumentation
Pitot-static tubes to measure velocity
Thermistors to measure temperature
Finite Element Analysis
Max Stress: 889 kPa
Factor of Safety: 2
Max Deformation: 0.086 in
Factor of Safety: 6
Results
Frame adjustable from 0 to 7.5 degrees
Flowrate 75-380 gallons per minute
Able to measure minimal temperature changes
Depth changes geometrically with flowrate as expected
