Martin (Gregory Alan Williams) and the Other Gay Son

I haven't said much about Martin (Gregory Alan Williams), the strong, stable, easily overlooked member of the Gemstone family. Technically he is the chief accountant for the church, but he actually does much more, doing everything in his power (and he has a lot of power) to keep the family together. Most recently he offered Keefe an alternative job in the church when "informal assistant youth minister, or basically doing whatever Kelvin wants" turned out to untenable.

But I look for gay content in these cast bios. Williams has 173 credits as an actor, 7 as a producer, 6 as a director, and 3 as a writer, but nothing that I could see with gay content. A lot of romcoms, Christmas romcoms, families sticking together, and movies aimed at an Evangelical audience: God's Not Dead, A Question of Faith, Miracles from Heaven…you get the idea. He did play "Uncle Mac" on Greenleaf, a soap about a family of megachurch pastors, with the youngest daughter's husband (named Kevin) working through a long, painful coming-out process.

Helpful background training when he became Martin and had to deal with Kelvin and Keefe.

I can't find any LGBT-oriented posts on the last four years of Williams' instagram pages, but that doesn't mean he's not a gay ally: excluding the posts about the Kelvin x Keefe romance, Tony Cavalero has only two, and Adam DeVine only one.

Everyone keeps talking about the twist, but once they show the main one early on, the rest are out of left field, make no sense, and make so many of character look like idiots.

(boston legal, 5 seasons, 2004-08 / house md, 8 seasons, 2004-12)

you will wonder, how do these guys keep their jobs i mean seriously, in many episodes

there is a balcony where the two male main characters + coworkers hang out + have homoerotic moments

the younger man is played by an actor who was a very beautiful boy in an iconic 1980s movie; said movie will be referenced by name in an episode

the older man is played by an actor best known for another iconic role like say maybe a useless foppish British gentleman or a starship captain; this role will outstrip it

candace bergen appears, delivers killer put-downs

john larroquette appears, is john larroquette

moderate drinking

copious drinking

many many beautiful women and attractive men will come and go in the cast, sometimes without explanation; the two guys will be there for all of it, come hell or high water

the guys in question love women, love them love them love them, one of them has been married multiple times, the other is a slut with one dark haunting woman behind him, but they will nevertheless end up together in a life-changing situation when the series finishes

someone has a sex doll and is overly fond of her

character gets away with murder

character gets away with malpractice

someone says ‘lock and load’ while wielding a weapon in the workplace (water pistols count shut up)

one of the actors involved pretends there is no homoeroticism whatsoever; has absolutely never played one half of an iconic queer-coded couple ever before nope nope nope

meredith hope eaton appears + does some groundbreaking stuff on representing characters with dwarfism

jail time

character sees psychiatrist played by someone about to become best known for iconic comedy role rather than previous serious roles (sue sylvester, captain holt)

autistic characters that main characters understand in ways that others don’t, for what are obvious reasons to 2020s viewers

the Only Sane Woman has a thing for one of the guys and lets them away with more than is reasonable given her position of responsibility

epic, destructive jealousy and meddling when your best boy friend starts hanging out with someone else

character says something insanely un-PC and/or downright offensive to someone, then makes life better for same someone using their mad professional skillz

you will wonder, but seriously are these guys sleeping together because that would make this plot moderately less insane, often

you will never wonder, do these guys love each other; the show doesn't work if they don't

anyway, sending lots of love and support to shelby and wilbur soot's close friends, i can't imagine what it must be like to discover someone who was a big brother, etc to you was so horrible to his own girlfriend. genuinely disgusting.

i will forever miss wilbur soot but i will not miss william gold.

i will miss the times when he'd play geoguessr or when he'd make silly jokes but i will not miss him being a literal abuser, groomer, etc.

i don't wish death on him however.
