The problem of reading danmeis with power couples is that you won't be able to read normal dynamics couple (which takes maximum place in danmeis) anymore. Because what do you mean by one of them is a delicate flower and another is big bad alpha ? What do you mean by the big bad alpha tortures the flower, the flower runs away, then yields while crying when big bad alpha saves them from some low-life thugs? WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY YOUR LEADS DON'T FIGHT SIDE BY SIDE, DON'T SCHEME TOGETHER, AREN'T MENACES TO THE SOCIETY, DON'T GO ABOVE AND BEYOND FOR EACH OTHER???? You don't stan & obsess over couples like that ? That's....cool (disrespectfully)

I've been thinking about JiuHuo rescently, specifically about the infamous Qin Jiu line:

"I'm not here to save you, I'm here to love you."

I just think it's such a beautiful way to sum up their relationship and what they mean to each other.

You Huo didn't need saving, he had it all figured out. He wasn't buying the System's bullshit, he and Chu Yue were already planning a way out and how to take it down. Even if Qin Jiu didn't appear, You Huo would have tried many times to escape and destroy the System. That's not what Qin Jiu was for.

Qin Jiu also wasn't someone who is supposed to save You Huo from loneliness or his bad childhood. You Huo had friends, he was never truly alone. The bond that he and Chu Yue share is so deep and so special to him (him and Qin Jiu literally ran to her room after waking up and seeing each other when everything was over, because they were so worried for her). And he has put his childhood behind. Of course there are memories that still hurt him and affect him but he knew when to seperate the past and move on. He doesn't let that hurt affect him much in his day to day life (besides his eyes).

No Qin Jiu's role is neither of those. He's there to simply love You Huo. To love him in an unconditional way, in an unexpected way, in a meaningless way. There was no reason for Qin Jiu to fall for him or vice versa, it simply happened. They didn't need to have a big understanding of each other or some life changing event for that love to blossom, their souls just simply found each other and they never let go. They were each other's missing piece. You Huo just needed his love and to give that love back in return. And that's exactly what Qin Jiu offers.

He supports him, he joins him in his madness, shares his madness, all of that simply because he loves him.

I am still watching Love in Pavilion cause I’m kinda obsessed with the antagonist in this arc.

Celestial Demon Jiuhuo whatever, netherworld demon, big baddie boyfriend of the harbinger of doom, Miss Black Fox. You know, the guy with a floating golden artifact in his basement who eats ladies but not before insisting he will remember their faces. With the froo-froo feather shoulder cap. This guy:

Ya’ll! I just like his voice. He’s got an unusual face too. Everyone in this show is exceptionally gorgeous, but there’s something classically sinister about this dude (hard to believe he was the big sweetie black dragon in LBFAD).

How long is he gonna be linger around in his dramatic velvet robes? The whole show?

This entire plot line is chaotic and messy, just like every plot line in this story thus far… but I’m here for the costumes. And the side couples. And the random magical demons and worlds. I definitely get the feeling I am missing a great deal of the lore here… but I’ve also been picking this off randomly with big chunks of kpop and other shows in between.

Anyways, I love the baddie.

I want to know more about that hole in his chest. I want to know more about the beast kingdom. I want to know more about those tentacle blood sucky things that pop out of him. What manner of creature is he???

was rereading that part in qqgk during the foreign language exam where huo wrote GI instead of 001 and i just had to stop and take in the fact that love is so *gestures wildly* because what do you mean neither of them remember each other but they do

what do you mean the mind forgets but love persists and insists on remembering? what do you mean that they can't remember if they've met or when or where or how but a part of him remembers these two seemingly insignificant letters? what do you mean he didn't know what those letters meant or who it would call for or what it would do but knows their call will always be answered?

what do you mean they've forgotten when they're a part of each other that they cannot lose, not willingly — not essentially.
