Time for my monthly pretending I’m not hopelessly dead on all my social media 🤩‼️‼️‼️
Been thinking abt how to write for my MCU oc Kara but I’ve been SO BUSY LATELY 😭😭😭 I haven’t been able to actually do any of it. I’ve been fleshing out Kians stuff too and I COMPLETELY FORGOT I was gonna make rp blogs for them, but I’ve been too busy to keep up with them anyways.
College stuff has been kicking my ass and I’m only a Jr too 😭Mostly cause my top college is sorta selective and I have a lot of stand-outy things but that GPA is NOT IT even though I’ve been working on it all year😔😔 idk I rlly hope VT wants me cos if not idk what I’m gonna do💀 my 2nd has like a 95% acceptance so at least there’s that but they don’t have aerospace or ocean engineering majors, and VT does a naval engineering minor which is what I wanna do. (ODU is near the shipyard tho so mb I can idk intern/apprenticeship/jobshadow/whateverthefuck there buttt) either way if I went to ODU my degrees would be really different (math and mech engineering major eewwwww) and I like my majors if i went to VT better.
Idk I’m rlly glad I’ve been figuring my life out but I have NOT had free time so yea just a little update on me

finding your blog has inspired me to do this during my gap year. I'm not enjoying school atm so I'm hoping to catch break from academics and jobshadow or work as a junior camp counsellor. i'd love to know more about your story. also, do you have any tips or advice?
Hi friend, that's awesome! I totally understand not enjoying school and really wish I'd taken a gap year at several points.
My story is that I grew up in Girl Scouts and did a lot with it. I moved for college but worked at my childhood day camp for two summers. I also ran events for my local council while I was in college as part of a student group. Then, in winter 2014-15, I realized I wasn't happy in my path and applied for a job as a curriculum writer. Then I applied for summer camp and became the CIT (counselors in training) director. The next summer I was the director (long story) and then did two summers as assistant director while I was in grad school.
When I graduated, my current job became available. I applied and was hired. I've been in this position ever since. I run events, support parents and volunteers, work with the community, and more. The blog encompasses both camp stuff and my work stuff (as well as some random stuff from my life).
I have tons of tips, and they're in a variety of tags. One is my tips and tricks tag, which I've included on this one. Camp asks is another one, because those are all the questions that people have asked over the years. Some top tips are:
Take care of yourself. You can't pour from an empty cup.
You will get better the longer you do something, including being a camp staff. Your first year won't be perfect, but do your best.
Kids come first when you're on duty. Like, don't neglect your basic needs, but also you are responsible for them and need to act like it.
Every kid is different and has something they bring to the group. It's your job to bring that out.
Best wishes!

Working on concepts for flicker fankids au!!
Two new characters: Ana Calimeris (Elizabeth and Veronica) and Leo Rahimi (Miguel and Reza) (also I’m tempted to have it imply that Albert and Elizabeth are siblings so Castor and Halley and Ana are cousins but then again with two other concepts of Minji being Jamie’s aunt and Viola being Irene’s, and maybe Annie being Sylvia’s, there’s an absurd amount of aunts. lmk your thoughts)
possibly making a younger brother character for wren bc I originally wanted to but never did
actually setting up the seating arrangement
establishing actual storylines and who does what and things outside of school bc I have a few concepts
^ such as Anika and Castor and sometimes Shea working at Jamila’s bakery, Wren jobshadowing Bailey., etc etc.
Developing actual plot please peck please

In my town, the library is only a few blocks away from the middle and high school, so if for whatever reason we miss or don't have a bus that evening, we go to the library. One of the staff members was someone me and my family felt comfortable around for years. We saw her once a week for a painting class. I still have all of those paintings and went through them once. I think there's like 24?
I jobshadowed her one day, and I think it only hit me... just now, honestly, how much work and effort she put in for the class. And for such little payoff. She was in charge of everything for youth services and she did her job well. She is passionate about her job.
I think my family was kind of the only thing keeping that class steady and consistent, because once my older sibling graduated, we started going less and less and whenever I go in there now, there's not a flyer for youth painting like there used to be.
She got me and my sister paint sets one christmas because we'd been going there for years and clearly enjoyed it. She hired my sibling (who was far superior at painting in just about every way to us) to paint a mural at the library over the summer, that is still there next to her office.
I sometimes wonder what she's up to and how she'd react to how much we've changed. We stopped going because in our tiny little town, it's hard to tell who's going to be accepting or rejecting of queer identities, and on top of that, she already has so much to keep track of. She doesn't need to feel guilty over getting our names wrong even though she's known us as our deadnames for years.
Libraries were and are a big part of me and my family's childhood. I can't really stand to read much anymore, something shifted and I just can't do it anymore. But my family goes at least once a month to renew their books. My sister and her partner apparently walk there, despite it being two miles away from our house, and get books. Today I saw three new ones.
I should go back and pay off my debt.

Tag 4: Jobshadowing

Jaká témata mě lákají a s čím bych aktivně chtěla pomáhat?
