A Texas woman testifying before the Senate Judiciary Committee on the subject of the harm of abortion bans tore into her senators on Wednesday, saying she nearly died as “a direct result” of the policies Ted Cruz and John Cornyn support.
Amanda Zurawski, one of five women suing the state of Texas for denying them abortions after medical complications arose in their pregnancies, began by noting that neither Cruz nor Cornyn was present in the room.
“But I would like for them to know that what happened to me… it’s a direct result of the policies that they support,” she said. “I nearly died on their watch. And furthermore, as a result of what happened to me, I may have been robbed of the opportunity to have children in the future.”
Despite that, Zurawski continued, she considered herself “lucky,” as she had a supportive partner and a job “that allowed me to grieve for three days as I waited to almost die.”
She raised the specter of the “many” women who need life-saving abortions but don’t have the same support system. “What about them?” she asked.

Trump Wins Again - 02/28/2024
Good news, 82-year-old Mitch McConnel, Rhino, is stepping down as the senate GOP leader this November. They're talking about replacing him from a selection of three candidates; John Thune, John Barrasso, and John Cornyn. Cornyn is the more likely because of the three he's the biggest Trump supporter. I personally would like to see Ted Cruz or Jim Jordan as their leader. It's a long time until this November so a lot can happen, you just never know, especially in politics. One thing I know that is pretty certain, almost 100% that Nikki Haley will not be nominated in the republican primary this year. Donald Trump won Michigan last night, getting 68.1%. Nikki Haley got 26.6%. That's a victory margin of 41.5 percentage points. It's time for Nikki to go home, but apparently, she's hanging around at least through Super Tuesday on March 5th. Even if she does go the distance it looks to be impossible for her to win. What is possible is for her to lose all 50 states. I seriously doubt that she'll stay in it to the end. By losing her home state of South Carolina where she was elected twice for Governor, she may have already put a nail in her political coffin.

Texas Senator John Cornyn (R) and others like him support gun violence and will do ALL THEY CAN to stop common sense gun reform. He and other GOP politicians ARE the power that protects mass shooters and these shooters will continue to erupt unpredictability around the country until something changes. Folks like John Cornyn are the reason we can't stop gun violence in this country. May God bless and protect America from greedy sociopaths who stand in the way of a safer America.
What Mr. Cornyn wants you to believe is that ANY gun reforms will take away your 2nd Amendment right to bear arms but THAT IS A LIE.
We can have BOTH!
Gun safety and gun rights can COEXIST if-when we stop listening to folks like Ted Cruz and John Cornyn and Marsha Blackburn and Greg Abbott AND the National Rifle Association who feed on and profit from our fears.

Senator John Cornyn of Texas just said that the next targets for SCOTUS should be Plessy v Ferguson and Brown v Board of Education.
Plessy was the decision that allowed segregation of public facilities by race as long as the facilities provided for both blacks and whites were “equal.”
Brown was the ruling that overturned Plessy, stating that “separate but equal” was inherently unequal. Brown was the decision that began the massive desegregation of American schools.
Cornyn wants to turn that back.
He wants segregation back. He wants Jim Crow back.
The fucker isn’t even trying to hide the hood anymore.
And part of the point of getting rid of Roe was to use it as a test case to demolish other rights.
Jesus Fucking Christ.
