Joseph Cotten was born on May 15, 1905, and died on February 6, 1994, at the age of 88. He began his career on the stage and came to worldwide attention with his collaborations with Orson Welles in the movies, Citizen Kane (1941), The Magnificent Ambersons (1942) and Journey into Fear (1943). He was one of Hollywood's leading actors in the 1940s and many film critics have singled him out as one of the best actors never to have received an Academy Award nomination.
