I’m thinking of doing a #7inchsunday for Sundays around here, so I can start giving a little love to my 7 inch stash! So my 2021 Holiday ‘Snowflathe’ from @joyfulnoiserecs finally came in!! This one is @whywithaqmark performing Auld Lang Syne ❄️ From the Joyful Noise website: “Once again, we’ll be offering snowflake-shaped lathe-cut 7" records (AKA “Snowflathes”) to commemorate this mighty celebration. This year however, the Snowflathes are ultra-limited. Usually we cut 100 copies of each holiday song, but due to pandemic-related supply issues and the physical limitations of lathe machine (as well as our desire for Moose to have a good holiday with his family instead of becoming a sweatshop worker), this year only 200 total Snowflathes will be made across all bands!” What’s on your turntable today? Tag me in a comment and I’ll take a listen! Follow @paulitosrecordcollection to see me attempt to document every record/MiniDisc/cassette I have 💿💽 #paulitosrecordcollection #whywithaquestionmark #joyfulnoiserecordings #snowflathe #lathecutrecords #vinyl #vinylcollection #7inch #7inchvinyl #7inchsundays (at Auld Lang Syne) https://www.instagram.com/p/CaOOyTBMEG4/?utm_medium=tumblr

LOU BARLOW wird am 28. Mai sein neues Solo-Album ''Reason To Live'' via Joyful Noise Recordings veröffentlichen. After decades on the road and the never-ending hustle of life as an artist, Lou Barlow has tapped into a new confidence in the chaos. In 2021, the concept of balance feels particularly intimidating. Now more than ever, it’s clear life isn’t just leveling out a pair of responsibilities. Instead, we’re chasing after a flock of different ideals with a butterfly net. On Barlow’s new solo album, Reason to Live, he has come to an understanding of that swirl rather than trying to contain it. As a long-time indie legend, Barlow has found a life akin to a middle-class musician. In recent years, he’s moved from Los Angeles back to Massachusetts, where he lives with his wife and three kids. Reason to Live is shambolic and grand yet intimate and doting, warmly acoustic and crackling with grit. “I had been struggling for a way to connect both my home life and my recorded life, but this record is the first time I've integrated that, People have this vision of me as this heartbroken, depressed guy, but this record feels so true to who I am, to this rich life I now have full of people I love, The songs culminated over the last five years to show that music has returned to its central comforting role in my life. Now I’m home.” @sharonstonedofficial @loubarlow @joyfulnoiserecs @cargorecordsgermany #loubarlow #joyfulnoise #cargo #sharonstonedofficial #antikorpersession #antikoerpersessions (hier: Sample and hold) https://www.instagram.com/p/COysI9JnsDh/?igshid=duj3y7rnhot1

youtube

#mayvinylchallenge Day 18 hosted by @jennn_erator “strange play, endless loops, etc” Various ‎artists: @joyfulnoiserecs 2020 Secret Sampler. A multigrooved super fun record that won’t wreak too much havoc on your record player, pinky swear! Took me a while to find all the tracks, but with a steady arm and a bit of luck, your boy prevailed 😂 From Discogs: “There are eight different tracks that can be heard on this 2020 limited-edition sampler sent to VIP subscribers to Joyful Noise Records. Hearing all of them takes some doing. Two tracks sit side-by-side and are played from the outside in, i.e., the way records normally play. Two others sit side-by-side but play backward — from the inside out. That’s four different grooves bunched together at the start of the record. Another double groove selection follows. All praises due to mastering engineer Wes Garland, who was hired to cut the lacquer for this crazy collector’s item. That can’t have been easy.” Follow @paulitosrecordcollection to see me attempt to document every record/MiniDisc/cassette I have 💿💽 —- #paulitosrecordcollection #vinyl #vinylcollection #teac #vinylrecord #turntable #futurefunk #vaporwave #cassettetapes #techno #cassette #walkman #album #rcavictor #sanyo #joyfulnoiserecordings #joyfulnoise #joyfulnoise2021 #recordoftheday #analogaudio #picturedisc #7inch #cratedigging #MiniDisc #recordplayer #vintageaudio #vinylwrap #multigroove (at Orlando, Florida) https://www.instagram.com/p/CPChrHpsubh/?utm_medium=tumblr

#mayvinylchallenge hosted by @jennn_erator Day 7: Post a 7 inch.. “Ezra Benus” 7 inch flexi 2014 on @joyfulnoiserecs From the Joyful Noise site: “A few months ago WHY? cyber-stalked their fans, writing various "theme songs" informed by fan's social media accounts. These songs were released on the Golden Tickets EP, which itself contained one last golden ticket... And a promise that WHY? would compose a song for and about the winner of that golden ticket. The winner of that final Golden Ticket is a gentleman by the name of @ezrabenus WHY?'s ode to Ezra is one of the most fucked up songs in the band's catalog, and is now available exclusively on this limited edition flexi disc.” All the Golden Tickets songs were done when @whywithaqmark was between albums.. they’re cool to me because they have that WHY? sound but they’re a little more like snippets and collections of songs within the song, or an edit of two or more songs spliced together within one track, if that makes sense 😂😂 —- Follow @paulitosrecordcollection to see me attempt to document every record/MiniDisc/cassette I have 💿💽 —- #paulitosrecordcollection #vinyl #vinylcollection #teac #vinylrecord #turntable #futurefunk #vaporwave #cassettetapes #techno #cassette #walkman #album #rcavictor #sanyo #aiwa #laserdisc #ezrabenus #flexidisc #analogaudio #picturedisc #7inch #klipsch #MiniDisc #recordplayer #vintageaudio #joyfulnoise #whywithaquestionmark (at Orlando, Florida) https://www.instagram.com/p/COk6kf5sxSM/?igshid=1nj7g06hzkws

You may know Thor as the percussive polymath extraordinaire behind one of his many projects (Swans, Thor & Friends, Xiu Xiu, Bill Callahan, Amanda Palmer, Shearwater and many others including our own Dumb Numbers and Yonatan Gat's band).  But if you're unfamiliar with Thor Harris, there is a reason for that. Thor is rarely a leading man. He's an artistic facilitator - going where he is needed in service to the greater good... He's a musician's musician.
