A huge project has been rolled out under the Ekamra Kshetra Yojana for the development and the beautification of the Lingaraj Temple and its periphery. The Government of Odisha aims at providing a peaceful and divine experience to all the devotees of Lord Lingaraj. The project will be implemented on 66 acres of land which can accommodate more than 2 lakh devotees during auspicious occasions like Maha Shivratri. The Government of Odisha aims at redefining and beautifying various major places of worship and the tourist spots has started this project that includes widening of roads, improving lightning work around the Temple. Even the Bindu Sagar and other historic ponds in the vicinity are under the ambit of this project and will be rejuvenated. If you do not know about Lingaraj Temple- Lingaraj Temple is a major Hindu Temple that is dedicated to Lord Shiva which is situated in Bhubaneswar, the capital city of Odisha. The temple was built by Somavamsi Dynasty and represents the beauty and uniqueness of Kalingan Architecture. Interesting fact :- Bhubaneswar is also called as Ekamrakhestra because the Diety of Lord Lingaraj was originally under the Mango Tree (Ekamra) which has been depicted in the in the Ekamra Purana.
