Fabulous cover the Ward of the Vampire by Kallysten drew me into this vampire story with characters that captured me, making me want to know more as they took me to a wonderful place of magic and romance.

Forgot to mention the cliffhanger. This is more like a preview or a tease of what is to come in the series, which is complete and available as a set and you can get it HERE for $4.99 on Kindle

carnegie: what authors and/or books/stories have inspired you to write or influenced your work?

I think for general books, everything I read play into what I write. It’s not something specific though. I tend to be inspired by romance/urban fantasy for romantic ideas and so forth, but general the style there is a little different than what I write?

For fanfic, first and foremost, @galadrieljones‘ fanfics? Her writing is just so great and so earthy and lovely. 

I am also influenced in general by fanfic - it’s tropes, it’s authors. From the earliest days of reading Nautibitz’s and Kallysten’s Spuffy fanfics, to the beautiful DA fanfic (that means you Ellster), it is great to be surrounded by so much good work. 

For inspiration - obviously Tragic Lovestories inspires me to write. Wreck me, and I’ll want to fix it. 

input: what’s something you hate that people say to you about writing/your writing?

I’m very fortunate that I think the fandom here is very kind. People say kind things about my writing - I don’t have anything I hate that they say.

For writing in general, I dislike when people have too many rules for writing - ything from use said all the time/don’t use said ever to you have to use a beta.  There are no rules. Just write. 

mifflin: what do you feel is your strong suit in writing?

Hmm. People usually tell my pacing is good, but I’m not sure? It just seem to happen. 

I think I’m good at ending things, as in writing something short and impactful in terms of a closing statement?

I also think I do smut with feelings pretty well.

Fandom Ask: Buffy

Buffy was my first true fandom, but bear in mind I got so deep into fanfic and bought into a lot of people’s annoyance with season 7 that I never really watched all episodes? and I also got ahead of my watching while reading fanfic, and tbh it sometimes ruins canon for me, and I shouldn’t do it. 

the first character i ever fell in love with:

Willow. When I first watched Buffy, I identified so strongly with nerdy, awkward, smart, cheerful Willow. 

a character that i used to love/like, but now do not:

Xander, I think. I rewatched some of season 1 a while ago, and he is a little annoying, even in the beginning. 

a ship that i used to love/like, but now do not:

Xander/Anya. Anya deserves better. 

my ultimate favorite character™:

Buffy. She is strong, and fragile, and fallible and saves the world.

Now we are talking about old fandoms, I’d like to just give a shoutout to fandom back then. To writers like Sabreshadowkat, who wrote over FOUR HUNDRED Buffy fics, Laure Alexander, who wrote some strange things before everything was #problematic, Nautibitz, who just wrote amazing smut (only a fraction of which made it to ao3), Kallysten, who took down their site when they started writing original fic but wrote one of my favorite Spuffy fics ever (Spike and Buffy has to solve a mystery of haunted motel, years after they break up in Season 6) and Eurydice (I JUST found out put their works on AO3, I literally just remembered their username!!), who just wrote these beautiful what-ifs, including Legion of True Hearts, a time-travel Buffy/William fic!
