Again My Life (Korean Drama)
When I started watching this series I knew that it would be different to other prosecutor - criminals and revenge stories. It starts when everything is at its worst. Kim Hui Wu is an honest prosecutor who has been after corrupted politician named Jo Tae Seob. Series of this type of genre usually give us this kind of tension and frustration in 90% of the series and then at the last couple of episodes things start to look better and get resolved. What is different about this story is that in that first episode our protagonist dies and is given an option to go back to life, a 2nd chance to bring Jo Tae Seob down. He takes the offer and comes back to his days between high school and college, sometime before his parents tragic accident.
But Kim Hui Wu comes back with his memories intact so he has a lot of information stored in his brain and this gives him an edge. Throughout the series, we see him solve crimes and change lives (and prevent deaths) by using that information he has in his memories. He builds a network of friends in all kinds of professions, people that he trusts and that trust him back. He is always a step ahead from Jo Tae Seob and the series takes us through the process of him taking all Jo Tae Seob's minions down, leaving him alone. The one thing that I didn't like was part of the ending. It felt anticlimactic. Why did Jo Tae Seob need to die? That was too easy. I would have liked to see a trial and see him go to prison.
The series is left open. There is a new crime-boss that needs to be taken down and all those crooks that got out easily, need to go back in. But Kim Hui Wu is no longer a prosecutor. Did he move to politics? How will he fight crime? This story didn't focus on romance. He had three female friends: Kim Hee Ah (college friend, daughter of a CEO), Kim Kyu Ri (another college friend who became a prosecutor), and Kim Han Mi (high school classmate and friend who becomes a journalist). At the end Kim Hui Wu and Kim Hee Ah announce they are dating. I would have liked to see something develop, even if they said that they had pretended to be engaged and then decided to date - I would have liked that change because it felt forced.
Now, I know this series is based on a web novel and it probably does develop the Kim Hui Wu and Kim Hee Ah plot, the series could have giving it some air time to make if feel natural. But other than those two things, I liked the series.
It is different and interesting. I really enjoyed watching it.

WELCOME TO SAMDAL-RI
GENRES: Drama, Romance
SUMMARY: When life gets too tough, its important to have a place you can go where people believe in you for who you always were.
THIS SHOW HAS EVERYTHING: Convenience store hideouts, corporate abuse, haenyeos, amusement park failures, dog mascots, weather forecasting, old flames, flashy sports cars, loss and forgiveness, crooners, drunken kisses, and dolphins.
HOT TAKE: I'm always hesitant to watch these small town slice-of-life dramas since I know they're going to be slow and drawn out, but you know what? I've never regretted sitting through one yet. There's something just very soulfully soothing about casual strolls, nosy-yet-supportive neighbors, and honest dialogue and communication, and this show is no exception.
Nevermind best kdrama kissers: I want a list of best kdrama huggers, starting with the King, Ji Chang Wook.
