BLOG #27: Research for Rookies submission
This year, I wanted to take part in the Rookies awards. This is something only found out about recently have have been really looking forward to, because it is an amazing opportunity for me to showcase my work to multiple people and it is the first step towards getting my work out there into the industry.
I knew I wanted to make an environment, but I was not sure what to go with initially.
I wanted to create an environment using natural outdoor elements like foliage and rocks and blend it with mechanical elements.
I have also been a big fan of Gundam since a long time, so I wanted to do something similar to it.
And so I started looking at concept arts on Artstation, and found the perfect one.
This is an artwork made by Kirk Quilaquil, I took this particular once since it fit what I initially had in mind, and was a great concept in general.
I also asked for permission from Kirk, who was generous enough to allow me to use his concept for my submission.
I will be working on recreating this concept in 3D throughout the month of May for my Rookies submission.

I made this acrylic paint as a gift for friends this afternoon, and I copied this awesome painting by Kirk Quilaquil.
The result is pretty nice in my opinion. I think acrylic paint is kinda hard to deal with tbh. In the end I still prefer oil paint :)
