I'm gonna be honest, I don't like this scene.

N doesn't ask Uzi if she wants to do this or is okay with him doing it. Based on her reaction he probably never even told her this was part of his plan. In fact, he actively ignores her clear and obvious sounds of discomfort and just yeets her off the spire anyway.

He doesn't know if she's comfortable with flying on her own yet, or if she can even fly at all, and a fall from the very top of the spire would most likely be fatal. Or at the very least incredibly painful and probably cause some gnarly injuries.

When V brings up the possibility of her dying, he just brushes it off with a "She'll be fine :)".

He doesn't even keep an eye on her after yeeting her, only noticing her falling when she's shouting.

And when he catches her, does he make sure she's okay or apologize for what he did? The thought doesn't even look like it crosses his mind.

This scene paints N as incredibly irresponsible and incompetent. Like he's either too insensitive to care about Uzi's feelings, or too stupid to even notice she has them.

RR AU where Nowen is canon. They're boyfriends, your honour.

Their alliance with the Sisters is formed through Owen and Kitty's common goal of making their grumpy partners lighten up and enjoy the competition; their conjoined efforts to do so are the groups' main subplot.

Additionally: Kitty, in an effort to help her sister get over her breakup, also tries to set up Emma with multiple other contestants to her chagrin. Owen enthusiastically assists Kitty in her matchmaking, dragging Noah along for the ride.

(Emma and Noah bond over their shared exasperation, and they become an iconic wlw/mlm duo.)

Also, Noah is nicer to Owen. I really don't like his characterisation in RR- especially towards Owen.

Instead of the Reality Tv Pros they're called the Media Darlings.

you look up from admiring your fresh nail set — acrylics with tiny charms, a pink set with pretty detailed flowers for spring. expensive as hell, but thankfully (like always), kirishima paid. after he soapboxed for a whole hour about it.

"my girl should never pay for anything. and if you wanna pay, just take my card outta my wallet and pay with that."

to which you’d argued,

"but that means you’re still paying...?"

and he grinned wide,

before flashing those sharp teeth and that boyish, dizzying smile that made you forget whatever point you were trying to make.

now your eyes trail lazily down his figure, landing on the familiar hello kitty pj pants. you raise an eyebrow, a slow smirk pulling at your lips.

"babe... are those my pants?"

he laughs, the sound low and easy, before throwing himself onto the bed, head resting against the headboard, one arm behind it lazily.

"nah, baby, i went and bought a pair while you were gettin' your nails done. gotta match my girl, right?"

he turns toward you, smiling so openly and bashful it makes you melt.

and that’s when you remember — there was this tiktok trend you wanted to try. and kiri being all soft and cute in matching pants is the perfect time.

"kiri," you coo sweetly, batting your lashes in the way you know sends him wild.

he raises a brow, already suspicious but amused,

"what do you want, baby?"

he says, pretending to hesitate like he wouldn’t do literally anything for you.

"wellll," you drawl,

"i saw a tiktok of this girl showing off her nails over her boyfriend’s... you know."

he cocks an eyebrow.

"know what?"

you huff, grinning.

"how about i just show you. and when we’re done, you can tell me if i can post it, okay?"

kirishima, ever eager to please, puffs his chest a little.

"sure, baby."

he leans in and presses a gentle delicate kiss to your forehead.

you pull out your phone and press record, situating your hand just above your boyfriend’s very obvious bulge — not surprising, considering kiri’s... big.

his whole face flushes when he realizes what you’re doing, his smile faltering into something shy, hands nervously tugging at the hem of his pants.

"hey, baby, what ya—"

he tries to say something, but it quickly dissolves into soft whimpers when your hand circles around his cock through the fuzzy fabric, squeezing gently, coaxing him in your hands — all while showing off your new nails for the camera.

you giggle softly, leaning in closer,

"just showing them how big you are, and how much you spoil me, that okay?"

his throat bobs as he swallows, his whole face a pretty shade of red, his lashes fluttering as he struggles to keep eye contact all while grunting through broken moans, red-faced, as he rasps out in a needy tone,

"fuck, yes — yes, princess, everything you do is okay, fuck— keep on,"

his head tips back against the headboard, one arm thrown across his face to hide how wrecked and flustered he already looks.

you keep stroking him lazily, letting the camera catch how hes getting hard, underneath your touch, all while flexing your nails just like the tiktok you saw.

and just as the audio cuts off, you look over at him with a teasing sooooo? look.

he doesn’t even answer. he just grabs your phone, tosses it somewhere out of reach without looking, and then he's on you — crawling into your lap, face burying itself in your neck, hands sliding under your top, caressing the soft skin of your breasts, need written all over him.

his voice is muffled against your skin, as he whines into you, "fuck, babygirl, don't do that to me..."

You're putting a lot of faith in a team who has made a lot of promises with very little to show for it. The site doesn't even have messaging, lol. Even LW had messaging and trading IN BETA. Jesus. Half-baked. lmao. You don't have to put other sites down to put a bag of PB flour in your shopping cart. Don't stare longingly at the picture of the cake you're hoping to bake and pretend that you ate a delicious dessert.

I recommend that everyone here go and reread all of the KS updates with a critical eye. What did they announce that is DONE, what did they announce that is IN PROGRESS, how long as it been since those features were discussed? Do you see those features in the beta? What sort of promises have been made, which have been kept and which are we still waiting on? This game has insane scope creep -- people are disappointed because they have been promised way more than the team could reasonably achieve by the KS due date. You can want PB to be a successful pet site, but don't let the glitz and glam of the kitties disguise the existing weaknesses or problems. For example, the buyer tax for pelts. Or how PB keeps paying for redos of art instead of investing that money elsewhere.

1, 2, 20, 22 for the tsc ask game

(Although I’m already pretty sure 20 is Ty for you)

1. Fave tsc series: Definitely tda. I love kitty and kierarktina. I like Emma a lot in LM (less so in the others,) I like Julian in places. I think the plot of the first two books is cool. I've found a new appreciation for Livvy. I like Dru. I really love the Blackthirn family dynamic. Honestly I could go on.

2. Least favorite series: tmi definitely. There's just so much yikes about those books and I really am not the biggest fan of Jace. Granted the plot was actually pretty solid, but tmi just annoys me.

20: Character you relate to the most: Honestly a year ago I would have said Ty without a doubt. But now idk. I definitely still relate to him, but I also find myself really relating to Matthew, even though I dislike a lot of the way CC chose to write his character. As an alcoholic and as someone who struggles so deeply with emotional and personal relationships, I see a lot of myself in him. I also know a lot of ppl who have bpd in the fandom have brought up him potentially having it, and to me that makes sense. I'm also someone who has a lot of those traits even though I've never been formally diagnosed.

I also heavily relate to Kieran, my fellow enneagram four.

22. Popular character you dislike: *gets up on my dyke soapbox* I don't like Jace Herondale. Yes I am aware he is traumatizedTM and probably has cptsd. As someone who is also vv traumatized and has terrible coping mechanisms, I get it. I can sympathize. But I still don't like him. I really don't love the way so many people obsess over a character who, if he was a woman, would be getting so much hate and vitriol. And this shit is gendered, I'm sorry. The way society responds to disability and mental illness is very gendered and you can't ignore that.

Anyways, I have compassion and sympathy for men like Jace. But my compassion can only go so far when I need to be worrying about myself and other people of marginalized genders first. Not to mention how men like Jace (white, straight, cis) rarely seem have compassion and sympathy for me.

Also not to mention a lot of my problems with Jace aren't even disability related. Sometimes he's just a dick. And yeah I get it, growth and evolution, character development blah blah blah. I don't care, I still find him annoying. Not to mention how I have IssuesTM with the way that's handled as well as the trauma of other characters but thats a whole other thing.

This is a great question!

For the most part, I agree with you, but I think it all comes down to marketing.

Even though they are both joke characters that break the 4th wall, I personally think that Deadpool was easier to write into group comics because his humor is edgy and often gory and the 90's and 2000's comics were all about that edge. If you wanted comedic relief in an otherwise serious adult-focused comic book, Deadpool is an easy sell. He's well known and well liked by many. You can get more people to read an otherwise mediocre story if you slap Deadpool's face on it.

Squirrel Girl also suffers from a few factors that Deadpool does not.

1). She was originally featured as a mutant who didn't want to join the X-Men. She was introduced in Marvel Super-Heroes vol. 2 #8, aka Marvel Super-Heroes Winter Special, in 1991. She specifically told Iron Man she wanted to work for him and the Avengers and not the X-Men (she also said she found Kitty Pride annoying. Wow, no need to be rude, Doreen.) If the character was ever to be more that just a single occurrence, her opportunity to be added to a comic that specifically recruited teenagers was thrown out the window. Adding a young teen to an adult superhero group would not be easy writing or an easy sell.

2) Her powers are inherently goofy. Unlike Deadpool, who despite his disposition has a distinctly unfunny appearance, Doreen talks to squirrels and has 'all the powers of a squirrel proportionate to her size'. As funny as it is for her to climb trees and take out bad guys with a wave of hundreds of squirrels, it's really hard to make that serious, especially since Doreen also is equally as likely to find a peaceful solution to a problem. Deadpool, on the other hand, is, well...deadly. He can make a joke and still turn an entire room into a bloodbath. Again, it's easier to reel a character like Deadpool in to fit a less gory storyline than it is to take the girl scout attitude out of Doreen that would hold back the usually more violent means of a superhero team fight.( Not saying that it can't be done, I'm just that it is more difficult.)

3) I'm not big on playing the 'it's because she's a girl' card, but it kind of is. Squirrel Girl and Deadpool were both products of the early 90's -- a time where comics were made to be 'Extreme!' to match the attitude of the 90's and, at the time, that attitude was marketed to the (younger) male audience. Who was the target audience going to read about, the violent villain turned anti-hero or the girl who talked to squirrels?

As a Squirrel Girl fan who loved the fact that Doreen finally got her own comic series a few years back and became more of a recognized character. It would have been really awkward to shoehorn her into more storylines if they wanted to because it would be both unnecessary and it wouldn't sell more issues. It took nearly 25 years and relatively few appearances before the comic world was ready to give her a little limelight. Meanwhile, the Deadpool fan base has EXPLODED since the early 2000's. Again, just slap his face on the cover and boom!, you get some guaranteed readership.

(I'm so sorry, this just turned into my own tangent soapbox! I'll step down, now!)

TLDR: Does Deadpool sometimes take away the immersion of more serious storylines? Yes, and it can be annoying. Why do the writers keep doing it? Because of reader engagement, ratings, and profit. They could include Squirrel Girl more often or keep Deadpool in his own stories, but that would probably mean less money.

It's weird because Deadpool and Squirrel Girl are both joke characters, and writers seem to understand implicitly that they can't really add Squirrel Girl to most 616 comics and teams because she fundamentally will break both the storytelling and tone of the book, and yet that same awareness isn't there for Deadpool and they keep putting him in shit. I'm not saying it's exactly the same, but I think Deadpool for the most part fundamentally doesn't work in team books, and it's weird that most writers seem to disagree with me. I get he's funny, but the core of his character does kind of break immersion for me or a sense of stakes, which I don't think is what they want from his inclusion and yet.

I agree - as a person who works with high school seniors frequently as part of my career, many of them don't know what step to take next after high school and become sort of paralyzed with indecision. It's normal, they're being confronted with the first biggest solo decision of their lives (for most of them), and so they need to be coached/helped through it by adults. We also place way too much emphasis, as a society, on 18yo kids needing to have the rest of their lives figured out on the day they apply to college. Absolutely not. Go to college, try some classes, see what clicks for you and what doesn't, decide your major/career path from there. Or don't go to college at all if you're unsure - go get a certificate and start working, do an apprenticeship, take a gap year and do an Americorps program, get some life experience and see where that leads you - maybe back to college, maybe not. But anyway, *clears throat and steps off soapbox*.

Eric being in this group makes total and complete sense for his character, and it's also endearing/relatable, like you said. Well - it could have been endearing, had the writers done a better job. Eric having some truly vulnerable moments as he tried to figure this out - with Red and Kitty, with Donna, with himself. I liked how they had him try out various careers to see how he liked them (artist, chiropractor, traveling documentary filmmaker *lol*), and they could have expanded upon that more - perhaps each of Eric's friends/family suggests a career for him and he tries it out. But in the end when he decided on being a teacher, it just felt... random. Like it came out of nowhere, and so the emotional reaction was unearned. I like Eric as a teacher, and clearly it stuck because he's still an educator in That '90s Show, but again - develop that out better, writers!! Show me how/why Eric decides he wants to be a teacher - beyond just thinking 'Mr. Forman' sounds good and enjoying using a red pen *lol*. They could have done this at the end of S7 in a 2-3 episode arc - after trying out all these different career ideas over the course of the season and realizing none of them are the right fit, Eric inadvertently finds himself in a situation where he's teaching/mentoring a kid. And it turns out he's good at it. Voila!

I don’t know if this is a hot take or not, but I actually loved that Eric didn’t know what he wanted to do with his life. Not everyone knows what they want to do in life— in fact, I think most people have no idea. Hell, I still don’t have any idea, and I graduated years ago

Betty selling marriage

A phrasing right there as Al Hartley is moving into full soapbox mode, Betty Cooper his Mary Sue mouthing his view points, or things his audience ought be thinking. Curiously, and maybe it is even intentional, this story follows directly one of the most infamous stories from Archie-- the night in the cabin -- a story full of contortions of its own. From that "mister kitty stupid comics" write up we see this -- Since this is a Code-approved comic they aren't allowed to mention [...] "goin' all the way" -- and, hey! That turns out to be wrong! And right there in the next story!

That one is referenced in the failed tv pilot turned low rated tv movie To Riverdale and Back Again (never seen it. It does sit at YouTube and such) -- comics adaption excerpt follows -- as well I can't help but think was echoed in one of the few episodes of Riverdale I saw back in '18 where Betty and Jughead do it and then Archie and Veronica do it.

Betty v Archie on marriage gets weird. The groom's tongue hanging out, in cartoon lingo emblematic of one damned thing.

But, despite this initial promise of consummation under the Holy Sacrament of Marriage, it is not all peaches and cream.
