How to Crochet the Swifty Stripe, Inspired by Taylor Swift Crocheted Dre...

If anyone crochets, heres’ the pattern for Taylor Swifts Dress. I think there’s going to be a lot of Swifties, who will buy crocheting supplies just to learn how to make this. This probably isn’t the exact pattern, it’s just a tutorial. 

This could actually be a pattern from the 1960′s or 1970′s that has been revived and somehow updated. Or, her stylist could have found it at a thrift store.

Material used:

Fake spider

Papercraft

Fishing string

Metal wire

Crazy glue & Hot glue

Exacto Knife

Pincers

Acrylic & Spray paint

Frame from thrift store

Looking through my creepy crawlies from Halloween, I found the perfect body for a Black Widow. However she needed a little bit of love.

First of all, I removed the legs and cut four slits using my knife on the abdomen to squeeze the metal wire. The crazy glue was good enough but I added some hot glue to seal the part better and not make them fall when positioning the legs with the pincers. Afterwards I sprayed the body and painted the signature red hourglass of the spider.

For the web, I forgot to take more pictures. However this tutorial from Kristine Crochet (and many more creators) helped me understand better how to make it. Attach your string in a pie formation and make sure to tie a knot each time you intersect with another string before securing at the back of the papercraft. Since the material is more rigid than yarn, I had to knot at each section for it to keep its place. It took me longer and it's not perfect but from afar it looks almost like the real thing!

Place within your frame and voilà! Another grim decoration!

Učím se háčkovat (Díl 1. - Kurikulum)

K tomu, abych ovládla základy háčkování, se potřebuji naučit o základních potřebách k háčkování, o typech a druzích vlny a která je dobrá na co, základních stezích, jak číst psané háčkovací diagramy a návody a také tedy uháčkovat jednodušší prvky/výrobky (vybrala jsem si tedy podtácek a babiččin čtverec.

Mé kurikulum budou tvořit hlavně videa na YouTube, jelikož video je pro mě nyní nejlepším prostředekem k učení online, než psané slovo (a fakt, že zatím nejsem schopná přečíst si psané návody k háčkování). Dále také proto, že nechci platit za kurzy, pouze za potřeby k háčkování.

Here are official directions on how to single crochet stitch

1. Insert the hook into the work (second chain from hook on the foundation chain), yarn over and draw yarn through the work only.

2. Yarn over again and pull the yarn through both loops on the hook.

3. One single crochet made. Insert hook into next stitch; repeat from * in step 1.

Here's a Pattern for the Taylor Swift dress

Yesterday, I posted the tutorial for Taylor Swift's crocheted dress. Here is a pattern for it. Kristin Omdahl breaks this down. Crocheters of tumblr, this will be a new trendy pattern. You may find something similar in a vintage crochet book from the 1960's or 1970's, when crochet and that style was the height of fashion. Trust me, the 1970's fashion-wise, was pretty boring. I'm not sure if my mom wore something like this, although it wouldn't surprise me if she did. I'm pretty sure my aunts may have worn something like this then.

Now, vintage patterns have made a comeback. Every ten years, vintage patterns make a comeback. So, this dress will be the new trend in crochet. For knitters, the trend now is a Musselburg hat, and the Oslo hat. The pussy power hat is also making a comeback, thanks to Trump running again.

So, for both crafts, just like fashion, there are trends. Trends come and go. I can see a lot of Swifties registering for crochet classes just to learn how to make this.

Knitting or crocheting a garment takes a lot of patience, and a lot of commitment. Trust me, knitting or crocheting a garment isn't for the faint of heart. You need to be patient, because you're making several pieces. In most cases, you have sew on and seam the pieces.

So, here's how you make Taylor Swifts dress.
