The Bala song is catchy, which we already knew, and the Bhoot Raja song is actually kinda entertaining too (the lyrics of the qawwali, on the other hand, are very weird). The music isn't up to that of Housefull, and is probably about even with Housefull 3 (Pyaar Ki; Tang Uthake), but definitely surpasses that of Housefull 2. ... Of course, no one is watching these movies for soul-moving musical numbers or excellent dance steps.

The jokes are funny and effective, I think, because they don't run into the issue of being overdone (as opposed to Housefull 3). I love the Bollywood name dropping (Alia Bhatt & Mahesh Bhatt, for example, during Nawazuddin's song/special appearance), and the few 'in the past' bits of "there should be a song with those lines" is a fun call-back (call-forward?) to popular songs. And that albeit brief recall of the previous Housefull movies, with Akshay's explaining "his wife isn't his wife...", which remains funny. And Riteish remembering his past in that song was pretty entertaining; Bobby's memory coming back during the fight was less funny, but still fun.

The series going to reincarnation was something I was a bit uncertain about, largely because - and I've said this before - things usually always go the same in these types of movies (the brilliant, or at least different, Ek Paheli Leela twist aside), and throwing that into a straight-up comedy always has a chance to get dicey (for example, Johnny Lever's mid-movie transformation to the character that was, apparently, played by his daughter; although, the "remix" versions of the songs he sings are entertaining). But luckily, for the most part, the emphasis remains on the comedy between the 3 brothers and doesn't get too serious. And the Nawazzudin bit adds to that.

Qawwali lyrics aside, that bit at the table where he wants them to sing 'ga ma' and then 'ga ma ma re ga' is absolutely hilarious. The bit with the pigeons is fun too. And Akshay's memory thing is funny, but the googly eyes are a bit weird, in a very unsettling way.

The only thing I don't get is, and this is true about all these reincarnation movies, why are we 600 years out and the bad guy is still, once again, like "I'll kill you all." Like, it was 600 years and at least 1 reincarnation ago - why are you still trying to kill these people; and, to that extent, what sort of logic is "I loved a girl that looked like you last time, so it has to be us again this time?" - like, what if they reincarnated with different faces this time around (again, Ek Paheli Leela-style, but like with Pooja looking like Kriti1, and Kriti1 looking like Kriti2). I'm just saying - I don't think "I need to marry someone who looks like the person I was going to marry in my last lifetime" is a great strategy - people change, mindsets change, faces change. ... But hey: comedy.

It's also completely random (welcome to my brain), but Kriti Sanon also had a reincarnation movie in Raabta (that time, I think she was the one who remembered), and Pooja previously starred in the 'set in the past' Mohenjo Daro, so that's some pointless coincidences. The last 3 movies have also had John Abraham, Abhishek Bachchan, and now Bobby Deol - aka, the lead heroes of Dostana, albeit in very different roles. ... Okay, now it's 12:30am and my brain is just hunting for randomness like this. I guess it's bed time.

The movie isn't all that bad, really. It's definitely got some funny moments, and Bala gets more catchy every time you hear it.

Tollywood News: The team behind Adipurush has had a tough time with the public's reaction to the teaser. Housefull franchise is coming back to entertain you once again. Fourth installment of comedy series Housefull is going to release soon. During shoots, some controversies have been noticed especially due to director of Housefull franchise Sajid Khan. Last year, #MeToo Movement has started when the movie is being shot and director Sajid Khan has been accused of sexual misconduct. Therefore, Sajid Khan has to leave the movie. As a result, Farhad Samji who has been writer of Housefull 4 has taken charge as a director. Shooting of the movie has been completed sometime back. Now, Akshay Kumar has shared a picture with the movie cast.

The picture is very interesting without any doubt. Here, the cast can be seen sitting on a skull throne. It is possible to see Riteish Deshmukh, Pooja Hedge, Bobby Deol, Kriti Kharbanda, Kriti Sanon and Akshay Kumar in the picture with wide smile in their faces. For the final preparations for the A level portfolio, we have to create the 2-minute opening sequence we were divided into two teams of 3 people each. The teams were the same as last year in AS level.

RESEARCH AND PLANNING

Our team conducted the first offline meeting today, on the first day after schools reopened for us seniors. The director had the task for the day in mind, so without wasting time we immediately began the first step which was to decide on several ideas for our story line. Kaanchi wanted both of us to talk about anything which we could be considered and asked us to send references on the group.

SCRIPT & SCREENPLAY

IDEATION

As a team, we all shared our thoughts and recommendations for the story in our WhatsApp group, I recently finished playing a video game which was pretty fresh in my mind, and I though using a sub storyline from that series and adding our own cultural twist on it would be a good idea. This was the Substory#6 “Damned Yanki” from Yakuza 0. However, due to practicality reasons, we went with something easier to represent and execute.

Genre Research

The genre we decided on was an hybrid of drama/thriller. I researched on the codes and conventions of these genres.

After watching these references to get a fair idea on the codes and conventions, We decided to finalize a the story we would Kaanchi and I sat down and decided on the major plot points concerning the story, she wrote the script down in her notebook.  We discussed on a variety of different stories we prepared and showed them to our teacher to receive some feedback, she said that there would be an obvious logistical gap in ensuring necessary elements of the Mis en scene and problems in settling with a location in public spots due to the pandemic, she suggested us to go with something that would make complete use to environment and facilities we have at school.

PLOT

Avni, a 16 yr old girl in school, passionate about acting, dancing and modelling, aspires to make it big in the Bollywood scene. Often using her social media to post videos for her performing in hopes to one day get recognized and get a shot at a role her very first project professionally.  She gets contacted online by an agent from a talent agency from Mumbai who offer her an audition to work in a movie, Avni thinks this is her calling or destiny as some people say and nothing can hold her back from chasing her dreams but when she goes around actually auditioning for the role she realizes that things weren't playing out the way she initially though they should have.....

REFRENCES AND INSPIRATION

We liked the way Dhanak’s trailer was extremely well edited with the way the narration was displayed (font and effect). Some shots have been heavily inspired by Dhanak as the one with the movie posters.

Kriti Sanon’s character in Mimi was what we wanted our protagonist Avni’s personality to be like. The protagonist of Mimi- Mimi Mansingh Rathore, is an aspiring actress and is shown to have  posters in her room of her favorite star. The scene of Avni in bed with her phone is also directly inspired from Mimi.

FINALIZING THE LOCATIONS

We scourged the school looking for suitable spots to shoot. We decided on our classmate’s dorm room and an unfinished corridor to serve as our spots.

CASTING 

Just like last year, we had a lot of issues while casting, with the schools in our city having  just reopened a lot of  students were still continuing to study online. Adding to our problems, 2 people who agreed to help to play roles also bailed on us last minute. We begged our classmate Vibhuti who graciously accepted to play the lead role of Avni as a last resort but we did face issues in scheduling shoots due to her “busy” schedule. We didn’t mind though, it gave us more time to prepare.

SHOT DIVISION

The first drafts of the shot division was completed when the story was different and not the one that is used in our end product. We finalized the story by making several tweaks and including social issue and group representation. 

Our cinematographer Manan whipped out his notebook and started making rough notes and drawings of how he visualized it. He was still waiting on his new laptop to be delivered as his old one was outdated in terms of OS and resulted in him lose his progress due to unexpected shutdowns.

After Manan got his hands on his new laptop, he quickly installed the Studio Binder software and prepared the shot division for both the trailers as per the new story that the team decided to switch to.

Producer Sajid Nadiadwala’s Bachchan Pandey will roll in January 2021 and continue till March. It marks Akshay Kumar's 10th collaboration with his producer buddy. Earlier, it was being reported that besides Kriti Sanon, another actress will be signed for the project. It is now confirmed that Jacqueline Fernandez has come on board.

The actress has joined the team of Bachchan Pandey. This marks her eighth collaboration with Sajid Nadiadwala. Her character is kept under wraps whereas it is being reported that Kriti Sanon plays the role of a journalist. Jacqueline excitedly shares, ”I was very new to the industry when I did the ‘Dhanno’ song in Housefull for Nadiad and our bond & friendship goes way back then. I am elated to be back working with him and Bachchan Pandey will mark our 8th film together after Judwaa & Housefull series. I can't wait to reunite with Akshay once again. It's a crazy mad ride always with him and I am sure we will have a blast together."

Talking about the shooting schedule, she shares, "I’m looking forward to begin the shoot in January with them. I can't spill the beans on my character yet but I can tell you it's a totally different avatar. This film will be an altogether different experience for us as we would be shooting in the new normal owing to the on-going pandemic but as we say the show must go on. With the precautions and norms for Covid -19 which would be taken care of, I am extremely excited to be at my 'Happy Place' with Sajid, Akshay, and have a gala time."

She further adds, “I have just finished shooting for a film while the other one is going on and I’m set to roll for Bachchan Pandey soon post which I’ll be back with Nadiad directing Salman & myself for Kick 2.” she signs off.

Jacqueline begins shooting with Akshay, Kriti & Arshad from the first week of January in Jaisalmer. Directed by Farhad Samji, the film will be reportedly shot in places like Gadisar Lake and Jaisalkot. Akshay Kumar's eponymous character Bachchan Pandey is a gangster who aspires to be an actor. Meanwhile, Kriti Sanon will essay the role of a journalist, who harbours dreams of becoming a film director. Recently, Arshad Warsi has been roped in to play the role of Bachchan Pandey's friend.

“Akshay, along with actress Kriti Sanon and Jacqueline Fernandez, director Farhad Samji and the rest of the unit will fly to Jaisalmer in a charter for a marathon schedule of over 2 months during which they will be shooting in real locations. Last month, the production team secured all the requisite permissions and taken care of all the government guidelines and locked the shooting locations,” a source had earlier revealed. The shooting begins on January 6.

The entire team will be stationed at a Suryagarh Hotel together and some indoor sequences will be shot there. The film also has some elaborate action scenes and teams from across the country will be joining the crew for that shoot.

Apart from Bachchan Pandey, Jacqueline Fernandez will also star in Bhoot Police, Cirkus, and Kick 2.
