big PET PEEVE of mine regarding creative advice is when big timers frame things as 'let me tell you what is not valid creation'. i personally always try to frame as 'let me tell you what IS valid creation' because if you are talkin art then, guess what, EVERYTHING IS VALID

my BUCKAROO SENSES always get triggered over these discussions of ‘THIS IS THE SET WAY YOU HAVE TO DO THINGS TO MAKE IT BIG’ because... it is just not true. i mean HECK just look at my career. (and EXTRA LARGE WARNING if someone is charging for this 'advice’)

instead what i personally look for, and what i try to do myself, is say ‘this is what worked for me it might not be for everyone but i am happy to tell you about my path and you can take from that what you will. it is not the RIGHT path, it is MY path. LETS SHARE’

of course this is mostly SEMANTICS you could probably go back through my posts and find thousands of times when i messed this up, but this is what i TRY to do because it is what i believe. YOUR PATH IS JUST AS VALID AS MINE whether it is well traveled or cutting through the brush

what I love about Chuck tingle is that.. like.. he's our little guy right? you know what I mean? he's our little guy and we love him and he loves us and that helps us love each other better because love is real, you know? but he's just pur little guy...

and then every now and again you see someone that's a Big Guy out in BigGuydom and he goes "chuck is my little guy" or "chuck is my Big Guy" and you're reminded that he's everyone's little guy, he is everyone's Big Guy, because chuck IS love is love and he is also all of us so we are all each other and each other is love ❤️

which, of course we are. because we are REAL and so is love ❤️

Making a jacket I can wear for pride, inspired by the singular ✨Chuck Tingle✨

The color choices were inspired by pride flags. I tried to fit in as many as possible, and I have room on the rest of the jacket to add more in the future. Rather than representing my specific identity I aimed to include as many gender and sexual identities as I could fit. We are all blooming together.

Chuck Tingle’s writing often reminds me to express my joy and creativity out loud, and helps to focus me on creating art through love. I’m so grateful and glad to live in a place where I can celebrate myself and my community. This jacket is an expression of that emotion.

A highlight of my summer- I wore my pride garden jacket to the Camp Damascus book tour, and got my bandana signed! It is now my favorite decoration in my sewing space 💖
