Cabin Treatment: How to Protect your Log Cabin
Tumblr media
At Log cabin kits, We are currently using Barrattine Wood Preserver to treat the external surfaces of the log cabins. We have been impressed with its properties not least the fact that it is oil based and has a number of colour options, including clear. As per the manufacturer’s instructions we recommend a minimum of two coats, ideally three, to ensure an adequate level of protection.
The colour swatches are an indication only and representative of the product applied to clean new/pale timber. The final colour finish can vary considerably due to the age, type & condition of the timber being treated. We always recommend carrying out a test area first in an inconspicuous area to make sure you are happy with the final dried colour.

Have you ever had the chicken pox? No. I’m constantly in a place of waiting for it to pass by, because everyone tells me all people are bound to have it at one point in their lives (idk how true that is, though). I am also told it gets a lot suckier as one gets older, so...not too thrilled about it at all.
how often do you do laundry? I don’t handle that chore myself, but it’s done 1–2 times a week in our house.
Have you ever been evicted? Nopes.
would you grow your own garden? I don’t see that happening. I’m a magnet for killing plants.
do you know anyone who snores? I do.
Trigger warning kinda, by the end.
what is your favorite font? Proxima Nova. It’s the default font that my org used for all documents and works-in-progress, and it ended up becoming my actual real-life favorite. I’ve always picked out that font even outside of org matters.
do you know what a wombat is? Sure.
would you make a good movie critic? Not at all. I don’t know enough about different filmmaking elements to make a reliable critic. I’ve criticized things like acting, plots, and dialogues in the past, of course; but there’s still so many things that go into films that aren’t overtly projected like lighting, symbolism, hidden meanings, etc. I don’t have a very good nose for those.
what goal are you aiming for this year? In the last 8 weeks of the year? Hmm...avoiding corona would be at the top of that list, lmao.
are you currently reading any books at the moment? No. I’ve stopped opening the book I used to constantly mention on here.
when i say foxy lady what comes to mind? Beyoncé’s character in the Austin Powers movie she was in lol; her name was Foxxy.
would you have liked to have lived during the Victorian times? Wasn’t this era like a golden age of sorts for the UK? I’d love to visit for that purpose; but given the still-horrible hygiene and living conditions for most people of the time, I wouldn’t choose to live there.
would you own a Siamese cat? No.
have you ever had an ultimate adrenaline rush? I don’t think so. I’ve had bursts of energy in the past, but I wouldn’t call any of them an ultimate adrenaline rush.
do you like deviled eggs? I’ve never had them; it’s not a common dish here. But they always look so good in the American shows I watch??? I really hope they taste as good as they look.
what tends to upset you? Hearing anything about animal abuse.
what's the farthest you've walked? I can’t give you a distance, but my parents opted for us to walk the whole time we were in Bali (except if we had a tour day which included transportation). Walking in an unfamiliar - and very humid - country and not knowing where anything is (this was before food and travel apps got as detailed as they are today) and ending up walking long stretches because you can’t locate any good local spots is a very easy way to run out of patience, apparently.
what is your favorite horror movie? Carrie was pretty fun.
what does your favorite shirt look like? It’s a twist on the Chicago flag, made black and red and with a raised fist in the middle. At the back it says “CM Punk: Best in the World.” Been my favorite and most overused shirt for the past 9 years. My friends tease me about it sometimes, but I don’t care lol, the shirt is very significant to me.
is your life like a daily routine? It is, but I prefer that it is. I like when things are in my control and, for the most part, predictable. I enjoy spontaneity in short bursts.
were you ever told as a child if you eat carrots you'll have pretty eyes? So many times.
what career are you most interested in? Communications and media, so it’s great that I’m headed there so far.
have you ever seen a rooster? Sure.
what time do you usually wake up? I wake up wake up by 7:30 or 8 AM, but I usually also wake up for a bit any time between 4–6 AM. Sometimes I choose to stay up from then, and sometimes I’d want to go back to sleep.
what do you think about religion? It’s good when people use it for good, or if it has helped save a person’s life. In my own personal experience, though, it’s beenhard to find Christians who aren’t hypocritical. So even though I see religion’s potential, I don’t have a lot of trust in believers themselves.
what made you feel most accomplished in your life so far? Graduating college.
have you ever seen a lunar eclipse? I saw the super blue blood moon two years ago, which according to a quick Google search is a lunar eclipse! So yeah, I’ve seen one.
what are you allergic to? No allergies.
do you ever feel like people hold things you do or say against you? Only my mom does this.
what can't you afford but wish you could? Front-row Wrestlemania tickets. My childhood (and now adulthood) dream is to go to Mania 50 which is only 14 years from now, but at least I still have more than enough time to save up for it.
--
what is one word that sums up this year so far? Revelatory. ever felt like you were putting your life in danger? [trigger warning] Yes, it’s called suicidal tendencies. what do you like with your eggs? If scrambled, with cheese. If omelette...stuff that crap up with everything lol. Tomatoes, bell peppers, mushrooms, cheese, ham, bacon, and onions are all good in my book. what remedy do you partake when experiencing the common cold? The good ol’ wait-for-it-to-go-away life hack. would you ever spend a weekend in the mountains in a log cabin? That sounds amazing. I sure would. have you ever been called a psycho? No. have you ever taken martial arts? would you? No but I was always a little envious of my cousin who was taken to taekwondo class every weekend when we were kids. Sure, I’d take classes if I had the chance. who is someone you look up to? Nacho, but he’s gone now. is there something you're anxious about? I have work jitters for tomorrow, but they’re manageable for now. Otherwise I’m feeling pretty good. what is the longest you've gone without sleep? A little above 24. what is the longest you've been on the phone? This makes me cringe now, but it was like 8 hours long or something like that. It was still the ~honeymoon phase of that relationship and we were still clingy. We never did it again after that. do you care about calories? No. do you know someone with a really annoying laugh? Nah, can’t think of anyone. what band do you mostly always listen to no matter what mood? Paramore.  have you ever been to Indianapolis? Nope.
--
what type of bread do you like to eat? I eat white bread all the time, but my favorite kind is brioche. do you have any great great grandparents still living? Two greats is a bit too much don’t you think? Lmao. Anyway, my last great-grandparent died in 2010. I never knew my dad’s grandparents, and my great-grandfather on my mom’s side had died all the way back in the 70s. what is one country that you really want to visit someday? India. who usually cooks or what do you usually crave the most? Those are two different questions haha. My parents take turn cooking; and as for my craving, I find myself seeking sushi most of the time. ever been associated in a program that was a complete waste of time? Yep, like that one time I had to attend this 5-hour mandatory program/seminar before my driver’s license could be issued to me; it taught me nothing I didn’t already know about driving, and it used driving tutorials that I’m pretty sure were recorded in the 90s. This seminar took place in 2016. do weird numbers call your phone? Not regularly. Occasionally an unknown number will come in, but I reject all those. where are you right now? Sitting up on my bed. do you tend to care about other people's feelings more than your own? Yes. I really shouldn’t. what type of lifestyle do you want to obtain? if you haven't obtained it [trigger warning] I haven’t even figured out yet if I love life enough to want to stay in it. A type of lifestyle isn’t much of a priority for now. what was something that use to frighten you as a child? Getting lost at the mall. have you ever been on a train? Just once. who's been in your life the longest? did you expect this person to still be around? Apart from family, Angela. Yes, she’s here for the long haul. how do you feel about anatomy? Fascinating. I’d take a class on it. Insert interesting fact here: Read this on Reddit a few days ago, so I’ll just copy-paste the whole thing: “When Jadwiga, the King of Poland (medieval Poland referred to every ruler as King regardless of gender), was considering a marriage proposal from the Grand Duke of Lithuania, a chief concern among her court was that said Duke was rumored to have massive genitals to the point that they would kill his wife on their wedding night. Two of her councilors volunteered to travel to Lithuania to try and discover the truth of these rumors, which naturally meant they would watch the Duke as he bathed. They returned and happily reported that not only weren’t the Duke’s genitals fatally large, they were in fact a tad smaller than average, so nothing to worry about. Thus Poland and Lithuania were united, and the rest is history.” Got a chuckle out of that one when I read it that I just had to scroll through the entire thread again just to be able to share it here lmao.

Road Trip around Kent
Hi, I am Marie and my husband is Drew. We hope you like our blog based on our recent visit to Kent. Welcome to Jenkins Journeys, cycling, and adventuring through life.
I had received a number of recommendations to visit Kent and as I had never been before, we decided to do it as a road trip to get the most out of the visit. We decided to hire a Motor Home and was delighted to pick up a spotless 6 berth Ford Chausson MotorHome from Motor Home Hire UK. It was a comfortable and easy drive especially as this was my first time hiring a motorhome. The vehicle came with all the extra’s you need, such as electric hook up, gas cylinder and kitchenware.
Tumblr media
Day 1
We decided to head towards Epping Forest for our first night, as we are keen cyclists we thought it would be great to explore the area and find a campsite that was close to the Forest. Once in the area, we came across Debden House Campsite. It is a conference centre and had 6 large fields for the use of campers and large groups. It cost us £32 for the night which is more than what we would usually pay for a pitch, but as it was on the edge of the Forest we decided to stay for the one night. After a cozy sleep in the double bed above the driver's cabin, we set off for Whitstable, which we decided would be our next overnight stop.
Day 2
We traveled across the Dartford Crossing along to Rochester,( it is important to note that you must log on to the website and pay your crossing charge before midnight on the day you travel), this was for a quick comfort break and I am glad we did as this was our first sightseeing stop, as there was lots of history in the area and an impressive Castle sitting proudly in the centre of the town. I especially liked the wonky buildings.
Tumblr media
We arrived in Whitstable mid-afternoon and after a drive along the seafront out of town we came across Sea View Holiday Park. It has lots of static caravans, but we were pleasantly surprised to find that they had a touring site and offered pods right next to the entertainment area and washing facilities.
As we wanted to explore the immediate area we decided to stop for the next 3 nights. The touring site was literally a stone’s throw (or pebble throw) on to the pebbly beach, with a long promenade. Once we had set up the motorhome, filling up the water tank and getting our set up right we headed out on our bikes back up the prom to Whitstable. It was a fantastic ride along a wide concrete prom passing lots of beach huts and bars and restaurants. As the area is famous for its Oyster Farm it was no surprise to learn that many of the restaurants offer wonderful seafood menu’s. As it was Sunday late afternoon most of the shops on the high street were shut, but it had lots of small independent shops and had a quaint feel to it.
Tumblr media
Day 3
We were up early because we wanted to get out on our bikes and cycle along to Margate. As it turned out we traveled a lot further and made it to Ramsgate, this was partly due to the fantastic prom that made cycling along the coastline so much easier. The trail along the prom is called the Oyster trail and it leads on to the Viking trail, it is well signposted but given that your following on one path it is easy to navigate anyway.
After leaving our campsite the first area we came in to was Herne Bay, we stuck to the trail but it seemed like a beautiful area. Just after the bay, the trail heads away from the beach, however, we decided to push our bikes along the pebbly beach to do some beachcombing. Once around the Bay, we rejoined the trail and came to Reculver Castle Towers, an interesting stop for a quick refreshment break.
Tumblr media
We continued on to Margate and popped into the town for a quick look around and then continued on the trail along the way we passed some stunning coastline, namely Botany Bay, Viking Bay, and Broadstairs. Due to the time of year, there was a number of tourists but we were able to cycle along at an easy pace without having to dismount.
We reached Ramsgate and this was a pleasant surprise, it had a lovely old fashion seaside feel to the town and we visited a wonderful Fish and Chip Shop that was a well-deserved treat after the 25 plus miles ride. After sitting on the beach to enjoy our fish supper and ushering the seagulls, we took the cycle back. Lucky for us the wind was behind us and we arrived back at the campsite early evening, after a full day cycling and sightseeing.
Day 4
The next day we headed inland and took the Crab and Winkle trail on our bikes to Canterbury. The ride from our site was approx 8-9 miles along a disused railway line through gorgeous countryside and woodland. We visited Canterbury Cathedral which we believe is a must to visit when you're in town. It is steeped in history and was undergoing major renovation work, and has masses to see and learn. The town itself had lots of mini shop fronts and they also have punt trips along the Great Stour from West Gate. Here the wonky shops continued.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After speaking with a lady on the gates of the Cathedral that lives in Whitstable we decided to stop off for a seafood lunch in Whitstable, at Wheelers Restaurant. It was a quaint restaurant, with a large selection on the menu. We chose a fishcake starter and a seafood Mezze. We were instructed that the restaurant only takes cash payments and if you want a glass of wine with your meal there is an Offy across the road with a large selection of local beers and ales. So plenty to try while enjoying your meal.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
On our way back to the campsite we picked up some fresh Oysters from the Whitstable Oyster Company, we paid £10 for 6 super fresh Oysters. We took them away and had them for our evening meal. It was great to hear about the history of the Oysters in the area and it was interesting to learn that this farm has over 10 million Oysters just off the shoreline.
Day 5
After packing up and moving on, we had decided to head towards Hastings and we came across a sign for Bodiam Castle as a member of the National Trust and after seeing it in our book we decided to do a slight detour and visit the Medieval castle ruins, its a wonderful sight to see, surrounded by a motto. It is one of the most impressive picturesque castles to go and see.
Tumblr media
Due to our impromptu visit, we decided to find a campsite in the Royal Tunbridge Wells area, this was partly due to the fact that there is a number of National Trust sites to visit in the area that we wanted to visit. We had a quick google and found what we thought was a campsite called Sunninglye Farm. On arrival down a small lane, we were met by a lovely lady called Jill, she explained that they are a working farm but also have 7 stunning camping lodges or safari tents as we would call them. Although they are not set up as a campsite, she was kind enough to offer us the opportunity to park up our motorhome on their bottom sheep field close by to the communal shower block. We excepted graciously because it seemed like such a lovely location and we were not disappointed. We had two fabulous nights here and will definitely return in the future to stay in their lodges, it's a wonderful site and has lots to offer for families or groups. On this afternoon we cycled just a few miles into Royal Tunbridge Wells, the town had a number of architecturally interesting buildings but you could also see that the town is having a huge amount of upgrading and investment.
We had the privilege of cooking some of Jill’s home-reared pork in their pizza oven and it was great to make new friends of the farm animals. The chickens are free-range and would often wander around by where you sit. Take a look at their fantastic lodges. I particularly liked that the lighting was by gas lamps and you use a log burner as a stove. They had 3 bedrooms, 2 double and one was bunk beds. I think 2 of the lodges had ensuite showers but all lodges had their own toilet. Each lodge had stunning views of the countryside.
Tumblr media
Day 6
This was a final day so we headed out on our bikes to visit Scotney Castle which was approx 8 miles from our site, this stretch was a little hilly for novice cyclists but the effort is well worth it when you reach this National Trust site with a detour to the small village of Lamberhurst. This is by far my favorite NT site, there is so much to see here. The house which was lived in by Betty Hussey, right up to recent times 2006. Its a beautiful time capsule of how she used to live, but then you have the stunning old castle and folly which you can view from the library window and explore. It’s important to add that the cafe and walled garden are worth a visit too. We did want to visit Chatwell House the home of Winston Churchill while we were in the area but we just ran out of time. So great reason to return to the area.
Tumblr media
Day 7
Today we were heading home but on route, we decided to visit Waddesdon Manor in Aylesbury, which is a French-style Chateau, previously owned by the Rothchild Family. The restaurant was superior for this type of national trust site, but we chose a traditional English Cream Tea, which was a welcome snack before we explored the impressive interior rooms of this impressive building. Again this was a wonderful property with lots of magnificent artworks and sculptures. You could spend a full day at this site but we were heading home, so we could clean the van in readiness to return it in the morning.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is our first time in the Kent area and we were blown away by the number of things to see and do and we know we only scratched the surface. The motorhome experience was one we would also do again without hesitation. We have had a fantastic holiday and we crammed lots in and we would say if you're considering a holiday to somewhere new this is an area of the UK that is definitely worth your consideration. The people we have met have been friendly and extremely helpful and the changing landscapes from Coastlines to woodlands have been a joy.  Right I'm off to plan our next journey, wild camping the southwest coast path in Cornwall in a few weeks.

Things to Consider While Installing Garden Sheds for Extra Room
A garden shed can add extra space for use. And, that is why millions of people are installing a DIY garden shed on their premises for a different purpose. Garden sheds are not limited to some particular use. You can use them in summer for lazing around, having a party, storing rarely used and large items, or doing the office work without disturbances. The additional space can be used for any purpose. You can make a garden shed the extra living space by placing some furniture and bringing your necessities there. If you are planning to build a garden shed, there are a few things you need to consider first.
1. Make Sure the Garden Shed is Energy-efficient
As garden sheds are mostly used on summer days, it is necessary to go for an energy-efficient shed that will mitigate the intensity of heat inside the shed and save energy for cooling the rooms. You can consider a wooden garden shed in the UK to enjoy the hottest summer days without experiencing the heat.
Tumblr media
2. Consider Buying Prefabricated Parts
It s always smart to go for DIY garden sheds as they are eco-friendly and affordable. You will find many online shops selling prefabricated parts for garden sheds, garden offices, log cabins, garages and more made of high-quality wood. You will receive a product manual with the parts to understand how you need to arrange all parts and build the garden shed. You can hire two or three people for the job or do it yourself with the help of your family or friends and complete the project within a few days.
Are you ready to build a garden shed for some extra space? Visit different sites and look for the most suitable custom garden shed for your needs. Give the providers a call to satisfy all your queries regarding the purchase and the delivery process.

A Guide To Building Your Own Garden Office
Many of us now work from home, so finding a comfortable area to work away from distractions and typical family life is becoming increasingly important. Making a garden office where we can disconnect from our daily lives and focus on work is crucial for a variety of reasons. There are reliable online stores that offer prefabricated wooden houses for sale.
If you've decided to build your own garden office and are seeking different ways to do so, you can use a log cabin. First and first, DIY log cabins are the most cost-effective garden office structures available, and second, you’ll get approximately 100 log cabins to pick from to meet your needs and budget!
Tumblr media
Building Regulations and Planning Permission
Garden structures less than 2.5 metres tall with an internal space of less than 15 square metres can usually be built without the need for any building or planning permits. There are only a few simple rules to follow (placement in your garden, fire safety, etc.). If you want to build a small to a medium-sized cabin in your backyard, you are unlikely to be subject to any of these regulations. Simply contact your local planning office to get answers to all of your questions. This will provide you with peace of mind that everything with your new garden office building will go as planned.
Furthermore, garden buildings under 2,5 metres can be placed as close to a boundary or a fence as desired, making them ideal for smaller gardens.
Large garden structures require approval from your local planning office, but it only takes 4-6 weeks to get your plans accepted.
The type of foundation required is determined by the size of your garden office and the firmness of the ground in your garden. Concrete slabs set on sand and gravel are the simplest and least expensive type of foundation. This foundation type is relatively simple to build and can be completed by a novice DIYer without the assistance of a professional. This base is appropriate for smaller cabins up to 10 m2.
You can look for an online store that offers at least a 5-year warranty and the best price deals on garden houses that you can use to build your own garden office. Check the delivery and return policies before placing your final order. Most reputable and trustworthy online sellers in the UK offer free shipping on wooden houses.

Three Easy Steps to Dismantle a Shed – A Handy Guide@|how to dismantle a garden shed@|https://cdn.gardenbuildingsdirect.co.uk/blog/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/How-to-dismantle-a-shed-a-handy-guide.jpg@|21
Although it might seem like a difficult task, dismantling your garden shed can actually be an easy process. When you dismantle a shed, there are some key points to bear in mind, though. That’s why we came up with this step-by-step guide to dismantling a shed.
[external_link_head]
Key takeaways when dismantling a shed:
Remove any windows first. It’s best to remove anything fragile before dismantling. This prevents any glass from being broken.
Be careful of any rusty screws or nails. Make sure you don’t leave these lying around and ensure they’re properly disposed of.
Take into consideration which parts may be too heavy to move. It might be best to ask for some help moving certain parts, so checking if you’ll need an extra pair of hands is essential.
Dispose of any debris. Once you’ve taken down your shed, or before you put a new one up, make sure any debris is properly disposed of.
Before you start, you need to consider if moving your shed base is possible or if building a new one is the best option for you. If you need to assemble a new base, this is best done before you start dismantling your garden building unless you’re moving your existing shed base, then dismantling your old shed base can be done after.
For example, a concrete base can’t be easily moved whilst you could dismantle and rebuild a wooden base or eco-base. Another important factor to remember before you start the dismantling process is the space. It’s always recommended that you leave enough space around your garden shed for you to walk around.
This ensures you’ll be able to maintain your garden shed with ease whenever you need to. Take a look at this step by step guide below for the best way to dismantle your shed!
Once you’ve considered these points above, it’s now time to start taking down your shed. Don’t forget, another pair of hands is always best to have! Heavier parts of the building like the roof shouldn’t be attempted alone.
Tumblr media
Step By Step Guide
Step 1: Removing the Windows and Doors
To start taking down your garden shed, you’ll need to remove the windows and the doors. To make sure no glass is broken, remove the glass first before starting to take out the window frames or door frames. Removing the windows should be an easy process, the material used is perspex, a strong plastic and an alternative to glass. This can be removed easily by slipping them out of the window frames. Once the windows are removed, make sure you take them away from the area you’re working in to prevent them from getting broken. To remove the windows and doors, it’s best to use a drill or screwdriver to remove them. This is because they’ll have hinges and screws attaching them to the building. TIP: Make sure to place all the screws in one place when removing them so you don’t lose any.
[external_link offset=1]
Step 2: Removing the Roof Boards
Removing the roof panels will be the hardest and heaviest part and will require a helping hand. Start by taking off the roof covering, this has most likely been nailed down so a hammer will be needed here to remove the nails. You can do this by taking the back of the claw hammer and prising the nails from the roof, lifting them up one by one to remove the roof cover. Once the roof covering has been removed, along with someone else, start to take off the roof. The roof will be in sections and the roof boards will more than likely be screwed in; your drill will come in handy here. One by one, remove each of the roof panels, placing it to the side so it doesn’t get broken whilst the rest of the shed is dismantled. To remove the roof panels, take your claw hammer again and lift each nail one by one, keeping the nails in a safe space once they’ve been removed. If your shed has an apex roof, you’ll also need to remove the gables, this should be done with care because over time, the roof structure may have become affected by the weather. Removing the gables will require a drill. Take the drill and remove each of the screws one by one until all of them have been taken out and you’re able to take down the gables.
TIP: If you’re aiming to rebuild the shed, look into getting a new roof covering for when you start the new construction process.
Step 3: Removing the Walls
The last step is to remove the walls. Depending on the style of shed you have, you may be able to pry the wood panels off. If your shed is an overlap style, this will likely need a hammer to remove the nails, then you can take each piece of wood off. To do this, take your claw hammer and with the back of it, lift the nail off the wood until it’s been completely removed. Repeat this until you’re able to take down each wall. If your shed is tongue and groove, this may require a hammer or crowbar to lift the wooden panels off. Fewer nails should need to be removed here. Place your crowbar in between the wooden panels, then gently lift each piece of wood until you’re able to take it off and place it to one side. Repeat this process until you’ve removed each piece of wood.
During this process, you may need a temporary timber support to hold up standing walls whilst you take the others down. Remember to start from the outside of the shed, removing the nails one by one using and placing the nails and screws in a safe spot away from where you’re working.
If you’re dismantling an old shed, you could tear down the walls using a crowbar. However, if you’re just taking down your shed to move it, undoing the fixtures and fittings one by one is the best option for you.
Step 4: Removing the Floor Boards
Once the walls have been successfully taken down, you can then move onto the floor boards. To dismantle this, you’ll need a drill or claw hammer. Your floor will have been fixed into place using screws more often than not, so a drill is ideal. To do this, take your drill and place it onto the screw you’re looking to remove. Once this is done, place the screw in a safe space and repeat the process until all of the screws have been removed.
The floor will also be in sections so once you’ve taken out a panel, place it to one side to prevent it from getting damaged whilst you work on removing the others. Once the floor has been completely removed, this is when you can work at dismantling your existing base if you need to.

Helpful Tips!
If you’re looking to dispose of your shed, it may be helpful to look into a removal service or disposal service in advance.
Rotten wood can crumble or splinter so make sure you have a good set of gardening gloves with you.
You can put a shed on any sturdy base, like an eco-base, concrete paving slabs or decking.
Larger sheds will take longer to dismantle so prepare for this to take longer.
If you have any metal items or metal sheds, consider taking them to a recycling centre.
Make sure to secure any loose pieces of wood in case of strong wind if you’re dismantling your shed over a few days!
If you want to protect any of your shed overnight, consider using protective sheets!
This process also applies to other garden buildings like Log Cabins for example.
Shop Garden Sheds
Yes! Although every garden building is different, as long as you follow these simple steps, dismantling your garden shed can be done with ease!
If you’re looking to keep the same shed, it’s best to take apart the shed carefully piece by piece. Undo all of the fixtures and fittings and don’t pull at any wood.
To dismantle a shed you’ll need:
A claw hammer
A crowbar
Somewhere to store nails and screws
A friend or family member willing to get stuck in with you!
You can recycle:
Metal – This includes any hinges or screws
Glass –  Just be careful in case any of it is broken
Wood or timber – This can be taken to your local recycling centre.
You cannot recycle:
Perspex – A great alternative would be to use this on a DIY project because of its long durability
The best and only way to move a shed by hand is to dismantle it first. By doing this, you’ll be reducing the risk of any damage and moving a shed by hand just isn’t possible in one go!
This depends on how many people are taking apart the shed and how large your garden shed is, but it should take you less than a day, especially if you have an extra pair of hands!

Permitted Development |Mayfair Planning permission
Tumblr media
Introduction The popularity of the outbuildings in the UK is unquestionable. They have been known under many names, a garden annex, garden building, log cabin, an outbuilding, an outhouse, a garden shed, a garden studio, a man cave, a summer house, a gym, and many more, you name it.
We can find hundreds of articles on how useful they are, how it allows you to use the full potential of your garden, encourages outdoor activities and lets you reunite with nature or DIY guides how to make sure these structures are lawful and do need not full planning permission (Mayfair planning permission)under Permitted Development Rights (PDRs) “The Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (England) Order 2015”. In our opinion, the press release on the subject or even some professionals’ guidance very often lacks technical details and we have a feeling it is our due diligence to at the very least shed some more light on the subject.
What is a Permitted Development?
If the term Permitted Development or “The Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (England) Order 2015”) is new to you, it is statutory legislation determining what developments do not require full planning permission which was introduced by the Government back in 1995. Ever since then the householders and developers are using the Permitted Development Rights to build a variety of buildings not having to ask the council for permission although it is strongly recommended to use a professional like a local architect to get it right and make sure the proposal is lawful.
Although the planning permission is not required, obtaining a Lawful Certificate for such a structure is strongly advisable to avoid any abortive work or to avoid any legal queries and ambiguities when selling the property. The full publication of the legislation can be found in the link below: http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2015/596/contents/made
Types of outbuildings which do not require any planning permissions
The legislation says, “… any building or enclosure… required for a purpose incidental to the enjoyment of the dwelling house”. This includes structures like a gazebo, garden shed, greenhouse, detached garage, gym, hot tub or swimming pool, pond, hot tub or sauna cabin, animal shelter/kennel, enclosures for domestic heating oil, or petroleum gas or even an indoor tennis court and many other.
What are the criteria for Permitted Development Outbuilding?
Any ancillary garden building is considered to be Permitted Development not needing planning permission provided the criteria below are met:
A. USE:
i. The proposed structure must be detached and ancillary to a house and not to a flat, maisonettes, or other buildings.
ii. Only non-self-contained, non-habitable/ non-habitable use is allowed, meaning the sleeping accommodation (a bed) is not allowed, but sofa and armchairs, standard lounging furniture, is of course, permitted.
iii. They can also contain a W.C although in the past we have come across many ambiguities regarding a shower and cooking facility in an outhouse.
iv. The rule of thumb is that in case of a home office or a gym, provision of washing facility and a small cooker if justified can be found lawful.
v. Unfortunately, we also must mention Granny Annexe which is not Permitted Development as it is classified as living accommodation.
vi. Features like balconies and verandas are not permitted.
vii. It has no sleeping accommodation
B. LOCATION:
i. Outbuildings located to the rear or side of the garden are generally a Permitted Development.
NOTE: It is important to remember that if a site is located on a designated land e.g. Conservations Area or Special Character Area (World Heritage sites, National Parks and the Broads, Areas of Outstanding Beauty) the outbuildings to the side garden are not allowed under Permitted Development Rights in which case planning permission would be required
ii. Outbuildings located forward of the principal elevation (usually front garden) are not allowed under Permitted Development Rights in which case planning permission would be required.
NOTE: principal elevation can also be a side elevation on a corner site facing the highway.
iii. Outbuildings located within the curtilage of Listed Buildings are not Permitted Development therefore a full planning process will be required.
C. SIZE:
i. In general, the internal floor area can be unlimited provided that together with all the other outbuildings and extensions the total area does exceed 50% of the site coverage (the total area of land around the original house)
NOTE: Since the use of the proposed outbuilding must be ancillary to the host building, (existing house) its size cannot be exceedingly large in comparison to the existing house so that there is no doubt about its ancillary use.
ii. Height:
§ only single-storey outbuildings allowed under Permitted Development Rights
§ if the outbuilding is further than 2m from any boundary the allowed eaves height is 2.5m and total height 4m with a dual pitched roof, otherwise 3m.
§ if the outbuilding is within 2m from any boundary the over height cannot exceed 2.5m
iii. Overall permitted height of patios and decking is 30cm.
iv. It is a single storey building,
v. floor area does not exceed 30sq.m and it is constructed of non-combustible materials or is located not less than 1m away from any boundary
vi. floor area does not exceed 15sq.m if constructed of combustible materials
Building Regulations for Outbuilding
Apart from the Planning Act 1995 part of which is “The Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development) (England) Order 2015” the developments in the UK are also controlled by the Building Act 1984. Most of the outbuildings mentioned above may be exempt from compliance with the Class 6 Building Act 1984 meaning they do not require Building Control Application or Approval, provided the following conditions are met:
A. USE:
It has no sleeping accommodation
B. SIZE:
a) It is a single storey building,
b) floor area does not exceed 30sq.m and it is constructed of non-combustible materials or is located not less than 1m away from any boundary
c) floor area does not exceed 15sq.m if constructed of combustible materials
Is it right to build outbuildings on your own? Or,
Do you need to hire a professional for this job?
Let’s dig into this topic deeply, about the advantages and disadvantages of DIY outbuildings. Here are some important points to consider before building one on by yourself,
1. Great way to kill time on the weekend.
2. A good learning experience for kids.
3. Solid weekend experience/challenge.
4. Boasting rights at your next family BBQ.
5. It’s not relaxing work and may take many weekends.
6. Budgeting may go awry without adequate research for materials and machinery (comparing prices amongst suppliers).
7. Bit of heavy lifting depending on construction method.
On the other hand what are the advantages and also disadvantages, if you hire a professional,
1. They offer a higher standard of quality as they complete projects like this regularly
2. You know what to expect — the design and timeframe of construction
3. You need to do nothing at all, they can complete the design work during a few weeks
4. Very quick work and the work will be finished in a short time.
5. They can easily customize the project to better suit your needs
6. Contractor Cons:
7. You can’t claim it as a personal project
8. Typically costs more due to the cost of expertise and labor
9. Less control over the final product
General Advice
Identify potential issues on your Construction Site: Building an outbuilding can be very hard for you. You need to look for problems near the construction site which can make all your efforts in vain. Also, Trees in your yard can be dangerous, branches or leaves could fall and cause problems with your shed’s roof. Sometimes, tree roots may pose a problem to build the outbuilding in the first place and this is another consideration to keep in your mind. If you don’t have an open area for the shed, consider removing some trees before (if they are not protected). Make sure that your construction site is level and it ensures a good drainage system. Otherwise, water will sit around your shed because the area has bad drainage and not at the same level.
Pay Attention to the Extra Features: Pay attention to the extra features when building a shed. Extra features will improve the function of your shed. If you need plenty of storage space to keep various tools within the shed then you must look for features that offer great shelving options. You may also want to add decorative trim, shutters, and a nice paint job that will make your shed look even better from the outside. Although the fun features aren’t the most important part of the shed, it’s nice to look for shed plans that offer features that make your shed just a bit nicer.
Right Size and Style: Choose the right size and style for your shed. You’ll find more and more different outbuilding plans available, as you begin to look at shed building plans. You can choose different sizes of outbuildings, various styles, and more. The size of it will be a real important factor when choosing the shed/outbuilding. Consider how you want to use the shed and the room that you’ll need, which will help you decide on the right size. Take into consideration the style of your home and property. And maintaining this will help you choose the right style for the shed you plan to build.

Biological and Reproductive Characteristics of the Mediterranean Fruit Fly, Ceratitis capitata (Dip.: Tephritidae), on Six Host Plants Under Vitro Conditions-Juniper Publishers
Tumblr media
Abstract
Mediterranean fruit fly, (Wiedemann) Ceratitis capitata, is one of the most problematic pests of fruit trees in the world, which has been reported in recent years in the fruit gardens of northern Iran. In this research, some of the important biological and reproductive characteristics of this fly including the average daily egg in two selective and non-selective tests, the length of larval and pupal periods, the percentage of hatching eggs, the percentage of total insect excretion and sex ratio on six different plant hosts persimmons, Clementin mandarin, Valencia oranges, Golden apple smoothie, Red apples, and peaches) were measured in laboratory conditions. Among the studied hosts, peach contributed to the highest average egg density of 4.74 eggs per individual fly/day and a hatching percentage of (62.79%). Moreover, it exhibited short duration of larval stages (4. 10 days) and pupation (7.76 days), the most favorable host for Mediterranean flies was determined. In contrast, Valencia oranges were identified as the most undesirable host because of the low average egg density and egg hatching percentage (zero and 67.49%), respectively. Also, the yellow and red apple fruits also indicated low average daily egg laying (respectively, 0/56 and 1/15 eggs per individual fly/day) and the length of the larval stage (14.84 and 24.08 days) were established as low-quality food hosts for this fly. Due to the high sensitivity of peach fruits to this pest, it is recommended to exercise prudence in the construction of new peach orchards, especially mixed with citrus.

    Introduction
The Mediterranean fruit fly Ceratitis capitata (Wiedemnann) is a polyphagous pest. So far, more than 400 plant species have been reported as its host (2012 USDA), of which the most important are citrus, nutrient fruits such as peaches, grainy fruits such as apples and other ones such as persimmons, figs and even the fruits of some gourds [1]. In some countries, commercial production is riddled by some serious challenges and even impossibility because of the Mediterranean fruit fly damage. In California, this fly accounts for an annual financial loss of about $1.1 billion [2]. The damage caused by this pest in Europe was reported at 68 and 71% respectively in tangerines (Citrus reticulata Blanco and Japanese persimmons (Diospyros kaki Thunb) respectively. Currently, in many parts of the world, the use of insecticides is the most effective alternative in controlling the Mediterranean fruit fly and the availability of appropriate diets for the cultivation of large amounts of larvae and insects is one of the main pillars of this way [3]. The quality and quantity of food are very important in feeding the larvae of the Mediterranean fruit fly, because in addition to providing the energy necessary for the survival and appearance of the larvae, they can also be used in the body during their inactivity period [4,5]. The nutritional effects of plant varieties on the biological and reproductive characteristics of this group of flies have been reported [6-9]. By assessing the nutritional value of different hosts for larvae and adult insects, the Mediterranean fruit fly showed that the highest percentage of insect excretion and egg numbers were observed in mango fruits, while lemon and apple fruits did not have any complete outflow flies failed. The study of viability and the appearance of immature larvae of the Mediterranean fruit fly on citrus varieties showed that the fruit variety and different parts of the fruit had a significant effect on the larval function, but the effect of pepper (Capiscum annum) was particularly lower and on the eggs, no effect was indicated [9]. Studies by [2] showed that the Kiwi fruit, in comparison to the nectarine fruit, was less favorable for the Mediterranean fruit fly [2]. The effect of different species and varieties of host plants on the demographic parameters of the Mediterranean fruit fly, including the inherent rate of population growth, has also been reported Papanastasiou et al. [10]. The Mediterranean fruit fly was introduced to Iran through imports of fresh fruits from 1973 to 1979 and quickly settled in the country’s fruit producing regions [11]. The activity of this pest in recent years has caused severe damage in Tehran-Varamin Research Farm University of Varamin is located in the southern region of Tehran City, Geographically, this training farm is located at 51 degrees and 38 minutes north latitude and 35 degrees and 19 minutes east longitude with a height of 920 meters above sea level. [12,13]. Despite the economic importance of Mediterranean fruit fly in Iran, so far, limited studies have been conducted on the effect of the type of diet on reproduction and its reproduction [12, 14,15].
Therefore, this study was conducted to investigate the effect of feeding the larvae of this fly on several species of important and common hosts in Tehran-Varamin province on its characteristics and its reproductive characteristics in vitro. Knowing the nutritional quality of different host plants, in addition to improving the efficiency of the pest management program, can help predict the trend and pattern of infestation in Tehran-Varamin province.
    Materials and Methods
The place and time of the research
This study was conducted during the period of 2017-2018 at the Plant Protection Research Institute of Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia (PFUR).
Preparation of primary population
The primary population of the fresh fruit flies was made up of four pairs of adult insects from a laboratory belonging to the department of plant protection, PFUR in Russia (Figure 1). In this lab, the population was raised for five generations on an artificial diet (a diet based on wheat bran for larvae and a diet based on hydrolyzed protein for full insects).
Purification and propagation of the population
Due to the low number of the primary population and also to create a colony with identical nutritional conditions, the initial population of the flies for three generations was grown on Prusus persica L. and then for two generations on artificial diet (five generations in total). In order to cultivate peach fruits, the primary population was covered in wooden cages of 50×50×50cm, with their ceilings and walls wrapped with wire holes 0.2mm in diameter (approximately 50 meshes). In order to access the interior of the cages in one side, a hole in the diameter of 10cm was created and a piece of white shirt in the form of a sleeve was sewn and inserted into it. The cages were placed in a growing room of 2 × 3m with a temperature of 25±2 °C, relative humidity of 65 ± 10 °C, an optimal period of 12 hours of light and 12 hours of darkness. Every two to three days, three to four peach fruits were placed on the floor of the cage for the laying of female flies in order to feed adult insects in the cages, a diet based on hydrolyzed protein was used [16,17].
The infested fruit was gradually removed from the cages and placed in plastic pots with a diameter of 22cm and a height of 15cm with holes of 3cm diameter on the floor. Pots containing infected fruits were blocked using a Lace fabric and the pots were placed on plastic containers containing a mixture of fine soil and sawdust d (at a thickness of 3cm and as a bedding for saplings). The pupas were placed in plastic containers containing a mixture of fine soil and sawdust and transferred to new cages to remove insects from them. Due to the lack of access to peach fruits all year round and after the arrival of the population density of the flies at a desirable level, it was used to continue the development of artificial diets proposed by Martínez-Ramírez et al. [16]. Artificial food was used to feed full flies in liquid form, and each unit contained warm gr of liquid hydrolyzed protein, three gr of sugar and 25ml of distilled water. Each artificial larvae, unit was completely and sufficiently sustained by 100g of wheat bran, 25g of sugar, 25g of powdered beer yeast from (Health Aid Company of UK), one gram of hydrochloric acid, one gram of sodium benzoate and 210ml of distilled water.
Daily egg laying average: Two non-selective and selective tests were used to measure the average daily egg. In the non-selective test, the persimmon fruits (Diospyros sp.), Citrus reticulata blanco and Valencia oranges (Citrus cinensis (L) were used as experimental treatments alone and without other fruits. For this purpose, approximately 20 pairs of full-day flies fed on artificial nutrition during the larval period were dispensed with a wooden cage with dimensions of 25×25×25cm, and the protein mixture was hydrolyzed, and water fed to them. Given that the average period before mating of this swarm was reported to be at least four days, after four days the flies were placed inside the cages. A piece of the camellia fruit was cut from it within each cage given. After 24 hours, all fruits were removed from the cages and fresh fruits were replaced. This action lasted for 10 days. Having been removed from the egg cages, the fruits were carefully checked under the stereomicroscope, and the eggs were marked on them.
In the next step, the marked sites were split using insect needles and the number of eggs laid in each of them was counted. By dividing the number of eggs laid per day by the number of flies in the cage, the average daily egg was calculated on different fruits. In the selective test, from apple fruits, Malus domestic (Borkh)(Golden smoothie and Red) and Peach (sixty-day cultivar) were used as experimental treatments. At first, 20 pairs of swarms that had reached the laying period were released into the wooden log cabin. Then, all three fruits were placed in the cage simultaneously and together. After 12 hours, the fruits were removed from the cage and healthy fruits were replaced. Then, the number of eggs laid in them was counted as before. By dividing the total number of eggs counted on each fruit with the total number of flies in the cage (including the number of dead flies per day), the average daily egg was calculated on each fruit.
Hatching eggs: According to the Hussain [18] method, Clementin mandarin, apple (Golden smoothie and Red) and peaches (sixty-day) cultivars put in the wooden cages that were pre-purified for Mediterranean fruit (maximum 24 hours) during their growing season [18]. After 24 hours, the fruits were removed from the cage and the laying sites were marked under a stereomicroscope. The fruits were then placed in the germinator (25 ± 2 °C, 70 ± 5%, 12 hours’ light and 12 hours’ darkness). Given that the length of the embryonic period of the flies was reported to be 1.5 to three days and given the maximum length of time that it was possible to store split fruits inside the germinator, tangerines, persimmon, peaches were removed after four days, and Valencia orange fruits, yellow apples and red apples were removed from the germinator after six days [19]. All the laying sites were split over them and the number of hatching eggs remained (based on the number of egg shells) and percentage of hatching eggs were calculated. Due to the low level of normal egg laying in the Valencia oranges, a sharp knife was used to cut the skin in semi-circular orientation and a certain number of eggs were placed under the skin and on the fruit. Then, the cut was restored to its original location and tightened with tape.
Larval and pupae age: After determining the percentage of hatched eggs, each contaminated fruit was separately packaged in a plastic container with a diameter of 10cm and a height of 7cm and a layer of a centimeter mixture of fine soil and sawdust and multi-layer newspaper (as a substrate of pupae). The craters of the dishes were covered with lace fabric and then turned into germinator. The dishes were regularly visited until the pupae were formed. The time interval between egg hatching on each fruit and the formation of saplings was determined as the length of the period and the larval aspect. In order to determine the length of the pupae period, the soil in containers that had infested fruits was observed on a daily basis until the key removal of the larvae from the fruits and their transfer into the soil to form pupas. The pupas were collected per day depending on the type of fruit and placed in 8cm diameter petri dishes that were covered with a centimeter layer of mixture containing fine soil and sawdust. Then, petri dishes containing pupas were kept until the insects were completely embedded in the germinator. The time interval between the formation of pupae to the complete extinction of insects was considered as the duration of the pupal period.
Percentage of insect outflow and the proportion of female insects: In order to calculate the total insect outflow rate and sex ratio of individuals, the number of pupae per fruit and the number of insects removed from them were counted on a daily basis, and the sex of all the flies was determined based on the presence or absence of egg yolks.
Statistical analysis
All experiments were conducted in a completely randomized design. The treatments in this study included persimmon, Tangerine, Valencia orange, yellow apples of Golden smoothie, red apples and peaches (sixty-day cultivar). Due to technical problems (for example, lack of sufficient swarms of flies and non-simultaneous possession of all fruits by reason of different growing seasons, some characteristics were not measured on some fruits. The number of replicates varied according to the type of character; the average daily egg, hatching percentage, total insect emergence percentage and female percentage in 10 replicates and length of larval and pupal periods in 25 replicates were measured. The data were analyzed using SAS (SAS 1999, Institute) software and the meanings were compared using Duncan’s multi-domain test and at 5% probability level. Excel 2007 software was used to draw charts.
Results
Daily egg laying average
Analysis of variance showed that in both selective and non-selective tests, the host plant type at the level of probability influenced the percentage of average daily laying of female flies (P ≤ 0.05). Based on comparison of the averages in the non-selective test (Figure 2), the highest and lowest mean of eggs laid were observed on persimmon fruits (6.95 ± 0.68 eggs per female per day) and Valencia oranges (0 eggs per female per day). The average daily egg density of Clementin mandarin was lower than persimmons but more than Valencia oranges. In the selective test (Figure 2), the mean daily egg laying of female flies on peach fruits was significantly higher than apple fruits (Lebanese yellow and Red varieties), but there was no significant difference between the two apple cultivars.
Period of pupal development
The analysis of variance showed that the plant host type had a significant effect on the length of the larval period (P≤ 0.05, and pupae, P ≤ 0.05,) Mediterranean fly has a significant impact. Larval period and larval stage varied from 8.92 ± 0.33 days to 24.08 ± 1.67 days, respectively, on Valencia orange and red apple fruits. The lowest period of pupas (7.76 ± 0.3 days) was in peaches and the highest in persimmons fruit (13.84 ± 0.59 days) (Table 1).
* Means within columns followed by the same letter are not significantly different (P<0.05, Duncan’s multiple test).
Hatched eggs
Analysis of variance showed that the effect of host plant on hatching percentage was significant at level of probability (P ≤ 0.05) Based on the results of the comparison of the averages (Table 1), the highest number of eggs after feeding the larvae of the hatching Clementin mandarin fruit (93.65 ± 5.03%), while the lowest egg hatching (67.49 ± 10.72%) was observed after larvae feeding from Valencia orange fruits.
insects
Mean variance analysis showed that plant host type had no significant effect on the percentage of emergence of insects and the ratio of female subjects (P > 0.05). Based on the comparison of the means, the average emergence rate of the adult insects was from 81.08 ± 8.6% in the red apple to 98.55±0.88% in the case of Valencia oranges and the mean the proportion of females varied from 43.25 ± 10.05% in red apples to 59.35 ± 3.01% in Valencia orange (Table 1).
Discussion
The results of this study showed that among the biological and reproductive characteristics of the Mediterranean fruit fly, the average daily egg laying, larval stage and pupae, and the percentage of hatched eggs were affected by the type of fruit. However, the percentage of total insect outflow and the ratio of individuals were not influenced. The material did not differ significantly in different fruits. The effect of fruit type on the biological and reproductive characteristics of Mediterranean fruit fly [9,16,20] and other fruit flies [21]. These characteristics are influenced by various traits of the different fruits, such as differences in the thickness of the fruit skin [9,22], fruit color [23], fruit size [24], relative humidity within the fruit [25], fruit quality for larvae [25], and the density of the essential oils in the fruit juice [4,23]. According to the results of various researchers in this regard, the difference in the values of biological properties and reproductive production on different fruits in the present study may be due to some of the above-mentioned factors, which confirms that this particular aspect requires further research.
Effect of fruit type on mediterranean fruit flies
The findings of this research in non-selective test indicated that the number of female flies was low on Valencia orange and Clementin mandarin fruit compared to persimmons fruit. This result was consistent with Chang and Follett’s findings [2,4] and [26,27]. Szyniszewska et al. [28] and Tanga et al. [29], in justifying the low mean of female flies on orange fruits and citrus fruits (C. limon L.), showed that between the regeneration of female flies and endocrine densities there was a negative correlation between the secretion and the amount of essential oils in the fruit of the citrus fruit. For this reason, the researchers attributed the non-infestation of these fruits by the Mediterranean fruit flies to the presence of essential oils in their skin. The resistance of different varieties of citrus has been reported in different Mediterranean fruit flies. Papanastasiou et al. [10] showed that the emergence of Mediterranean fruit fly on some citrus varieties such as orange (C. aurantium L.) was at a relatively high level [10,23]. The researchers have shown that the lemons are safe against the attack, and the orange is largely resistant. Also, the results of the present study in the selective test showed that female flies for oviposition preferred peach fruits to red and yellow apple. So far, the comparative study of the preference of peaches and apple fruits for Mediterranean flies has not been reported.
But Mahmoud et al. [30] and El-Hawagry [31] Based on the number of pupas in the fruit and the percentage of insect excretion, they concluded that the apple fruits are more resistant to Mediterranean flies than orange fruits [30,31]. Joachim-Bravo et al. [32] also, based on the percentage of total insects’ emergence and duration, the Mediterranean fruit flies preferred papaya fruits (Carica papaya L.) more than apple fruits [32]. In contrast, [22], Contrary to our research results, the number of eggs laid by the Mediterranean fruit fly on apple fruits (cultivars Golden smoothie) is much higher than Valencia oranges and Clementin mandarin [22].
Effect of fruit type on egg hatching
The results of this study showed that the percentage of hatched eggs on Valencia orange or persimmons fruits was lower than those of red and yellow apple fruits, peaches and Clementin mandarin. [23,26] studying the effect of different species and varieties of citrus on hatching percentage of Mediterranean flies, showed that, despite the difference in skin thickness, acidity, pH, in citrus species and cultivars, the percentage of hatched eggs in each other did not differ significantly [23,26]. Therefore, in order to justify the low percentage of egg hatching on different species and varieties of citrus, the role of other physical and chemical characteristics of the fruit should be investigated. Despite the low average egg content in Clementin mandarin fruits, a high percentage of eggs were hatched, while in Valencia orange fruits, in addition to lower average egg laying, the percentage of hatching eggs was also very low.
This may be due to the different physical structure of the skin and the chemical nature of the essential oils contained in Clementin mandarin fruits compared to the Valencia orange. The basis of the total average egg yield and the percentage of egg hatching can be that the essential oils contained in the skin of the Clementin mandarin fruit only prevent the laying of female flies on the fruit (the role of antioxidants), but their concentration and their chemical nature to inhibit hatching is not enough within the skin of the fruit. Moreover, the probable second-order metabolic compounds present in the skin of Valencia oranges, play a reverse role and prevent the hatching of eggs. According to the results of this study, the average egg contained in persimmons fruits was significantly higher than those of Valencia orange and Clementin mandarin, but the percentage of hatching eggs in it was much lower than those of Clementin mandarin. In justifying this phenomenon, it can be said that the antioxidants are probably not strong in persimmon fruits, and therefore female flies can easily deposit a large number of eggs within them, but the chemical and physical nature of the fruit prevents a large number of eggs from hatching.
The effect of fruit type on the length of the period and the appearance of larvae and pupa
The results of this study showed that the period of larvae of Mediterranean fruit flies in apple fruits (red and yellow) was considerably longer than other fruits. This corresponds to the results of [33] regarding the longer larval period of Mediterranean fruit fly on apple fruits compared to peach and persimmon fruits. But the results of these researchers were slightly different regarding the length of the pupae period of our research; the results indicated that there was no significant difference between the pupae period in persimmon, apples, and peaches, while our research findings showed no significant differences between peach and apple fruits [33].
Nevertheless, the average of both fruits was significantly lower than persimmons. Given the long larval period on apple fruits, as well as the relative lack of average egg on this host, yellow and red apple fruits, along with Valencia oranges (with a mean egg setting of zero), was introduced to the most unviable host plants for the Mediterranean fruit fly. Papadopoulos et al. [23] and Fernandes- da-Silva [34], reported the mild and bitterness of the Mesopotamian carp apple fruits as the most important cause of larval mortality and prolonged periods. In the present study, the more rigid mesocarp of apple fruits than other fruits such as peaches, persimmons and citrus fruits, could have contributed to the prolonged larval period [23,34].
The results of this study showed that the Mediterranean flies did not have eggs in Valencia oranges, but the larvae that had been removed from the eggs by hand under the skin of this fruit (artificial contamination), infested the faces of this fruit faster. This reveals that Valencia orange fruits have a high nutritional value for Mediterranean fruit fly larvae. If female flies overcome the barriers to egg laying on fruit (possibly high concentrations of essential oils with secondary metabolic compounds), the possibility of spreading contamination on this host is very high. There are many. Our results also showed that the length of the period of larvae and the appearance of larvae in peach and persimmon fruits was significantly shorter. Due to the high average daily egg laying on these two fruits, they can be introduced as the preferred hosts of these flies.
The impact of the quality of the larval period diet on the length of the period and the appearance of the larvae and pupae of the Mediterranean fly in its bulk on artificial foods has been reported [35,36]. Research by [37], showed that with increasing amounts of protein and sugar components in larvae diet, the duration of their growth and their appearance significantly decreased [37]. Although in the present study, the quantity and quality of the nutrients found in the fruits were not evaluated. Nonetheless, the comparison of the nutritional compounds reported for these fruits suggests a difference between them. For example, the protein content of one hundred gr of apple juice (0.1-0.49g) is much lower compared to orange fruits (0.8-0.9g), Noori et al. [38]. This difference in protein content, as well as the hardness of the mesoporous tissue in apple fruits, may be accountable for prolonged periods and larval forms [13,38].
Conclusion and Suggestion
Among the different fruits in this study, peach seems to be the most suitable host for Mediterranean flies due to the high average egg density and the percentage of hatching eggs and the short duration of larvae and pupae. In contrast, due to the low average egg laying and the percentage of hatching eggs in Valencia orange fruits compared to other hosts, this fruit was reported as the most unfavorable host for this fly. The average daily egg production on persimmon fruits was higher than other hosts, but the percentage of egg hatching within them was relatively low and the period of larvae and pupae in them was long as well. For this reason, this plant can be described as an average quality host for this fly. Yellow and red apple fruits were introduced as low-quality food hosts due to the low daily oviposition and prolonged period of larvae. Considering the greater sensitivity of peach fruits than other hosts, as well as unpublished reports from plant protection experts in Tehran-Varamin province on the increased damage caused by this pest in citrus and citrus gardens, in the construction of gardens of nucleated trees, including peaches in the province, especially in mixed crops, there should be more stringent measures.

Linear brick wall conceals earthy and tactile interiors of Devon Passivhaus
A linear red-brick wall obscures the textured interiors and art-filled courtyard hidden inside McLean Quinlan's low-rise Passivhaus home in Devon, UK.
The energy-efficient dwelling, aptly named Devon Passivhaus, nestles into a sloped walled garden that was once owned by an old English country house that fell into a state of disrepair.
In an effort to celebrate and give prominence to this rural setting, McLean Quinlan's design is deliberately pared-back with "simple and clean" forms and materials that are modelled on the old garden wall.
"The land has formed part of the grounds of a large country house for over 300 years as an orchard abutting large walled gardens," McLean Quinlan told Dezeen. "The footprint and walls of the original garden inform the design of the house."
"Our client is a keen gardener who is undertaking the huge task of restoring the gardens to their former glory, the materials were chosen to ensure the building feels connected to the garden that inspired it."
The owners of Devon Passivhaus commissioned McLean Quinlan to build them a "home for life" with barn-like rooms and vaulted spaces, as their old residence no longer served their needs.
However, the rural setting of the site demanded a more unique approach tailored to the site in order to meet the criteria of Paragraph 79 – a clause of the UK's planning policy that only allows "exceptional and innovative" new-build homes in the countryside.
"The clients came to us to build a 'home for life', anticipating vaulted spaces and barn-like rooms but had to adapt their original aspirations to achieve planning under the exacting criteria of Paragraph 79," said the studio.
"The design was led by the aim of building an outstanding and innovative house in the context of a historic walled garden," it continued. "It was to be simple and clean and was kept low rise to link it back to the garden architecture that informed the design."
From the approach, Devon Passivhaus' brick facade is disrupted only by an oriel window and discrete front door that is modelled on small gate openings typically found in walled gardens.
This brickwork extends out from the edges of the house to hide its other facades, which are wrapped by glass and dark render intended to "recede visually" into the garden.
The building's envelope performs to the highly energy-efficient Passivhaus standard, achieved using substantial amounts of insulation and triple-glazing throughout, which ensures stable inside temperatures and high air quality.
It is also fitted with air source heating, a heat recovery system, solar power and battery storage, which work collectively to provide over 100 per cent of the required energy for the home and an excess of approximately 40 per cent that is fed back into the grid.
Inside, Devon Passivhaus comprises an open plan living room and kitchen, alongside a central courtyard, library and four bedrooms. A hidden staircase in the living area leads down into a basement level where there is a large study.
Like its facade, the interiors are designed to have a strong connection to the surrounding gardens, so the rooms are all positioned around the home's perimeter to look outwards.
The glass-roofed courtyard forms the heart of the house and is intended for use as a winter garden. It also doubles as a gallery for the client's collection of ceramics and introduces natural light in the depths of the dwelling.
Material finishes throughout are earthy and tactile, helping to create a "serene" environment and connect the home to the garden further. This includes reclaimed textured terracotta tiles and rough sawn oak flooring, teamed with clay plaster walls and charred wood cabinetry.
McLean Quinlan is a British architecture firm headed up by mother and daughter duo Fiona McLean and Kate Quinlan, alongside Alastair Bowden. It has offices in London and Winchester.
Other recent projects by the studio include a stone house in Jackson, Wyoming, which is modelled on a nearby 19th-century log cabin, and another home in Devon with walls of weathered stone and timber.

12 Reasons Why a Log Cabin Office Is a Great Work Space
Due to the rise of the gig economy and high-speed internet, more and more people are turning to remote work, especially in the private sector. For many, being able to work from home sounds like a dream come true.
But, once they actually turn their home into their office, they realize that remote work is not quite what it is cracked up to be.
Working at home isn’t so great when your office is in your living room and your housemates won’t give you any peace and quiet, and it might be difficult to stay focused and motivated as a telecommuter. If you really want to reap all the benefits that teleworking has to offer, a log cabin office may be the best solution.
1. A Log Cabin Allows for a Healthier Workspace
Compared to claustrophobic cubicles and cramped offices, a log cabin can offer a more peaceful work environment. The feel timber cabins offer is much better for your mental and physical health.
It can create a relaxing work environment. As long as you maintain your log cabin properly, you won’t have to worry about mold and mildew.
A log cabin office will allow you to make the most out of natural light—something you can’t achieve easily if you are working in a cubicle.
It doesn’t take much work to install large windows in a cabin. If you have been working from home for some time, then there is a chance you are familiar with winter blues. Working in a well-lit log cabin office during winter is a great way to combat the seasonal affective disorder.
Aside from natural light, the view of your backyard garden is sure to bring calm and tranquility into your work life. Brightly-lit environments can increase productivity. Light can help you stay focused and motivated.
But, if you want to get that much-needed vitamin D, a well-design log cabin will allow you to incorporate natural light into your workspace. Of course, if you would rather create an atmosphere or rest and solitude, you can create a warmer ambiance of softer lighting.
2. A Log Cabin Office Is Easy to Construct
You will likely need planning permission if you try to construct a conventional building as an office. In most places, you don’t need planning permission to construct a log cabin in your backyard.
For instance, if you live in Ireland, you don’t need planning permission to build a standalone log cabin that’s up to 25 square meters. In the US and UK, smaller cabins are classified as permitted development.
A small cabin is easy to construct. You can even build one using a DIY log cabin kit. In terms of time and money, a log cabin is a much better solution for a home office than a brick and mortar construction.
Log cabins are simple, clean, and low-impact buildings. You can build one in no time, and you won’t be left with a big mess to deal with after installation. In fact, you will probably have some extra firewood after the construction.
3. Log Cabins are Cost-Effective
As indicated, a log cabin is a low-cost build solution. It is far more affordable than other home office alternatives. Conventional extensions require much more preparation, on top of costing more. Moreover, they may require planning permission.
There’s a common misconception that log cabins have a short lifespan. The truth is, you can expect to use your log cabin for 2 or even 3 generations.
4. You Don’t Have to Commute to Work
Many like the flexibility of working from home but they dread the thought of having their dining table covered in files and documents. One way to deal with this problem is to rent office space somewhere, but this may not be the best solution.
You won’t have to face the daily commute if you start using your log cabin as your home-based office. Whether you use public transport or cycle to work, your commute robs you of your time as well as your money.
If you set up your office in your log cabin, you won’t spend as much money on parking and fuel. You will also spare your car of everyday wear and tear. If you use public transportation, you’ll save on rail or bus fares.
Most importantly, you will have more free time to spend with your family and friends or doing what you want. You can start work earlier and finish it earlier.
To start being productive, all you need to do is step out of the house and step into your new office. You’ll have the privacy of your own office space without having to leave your home.
If you’re an entrepreneur, any minute you can save for yourself and your business is a plus, especially if you are used to working long hours.
In the United States, the average one-way commute takes around 26 minutes. That adds up to 4.35 hours per week if you commute to a full-time job. This is nearly 9 days per year.
A log cabin office in your backyard can even make overtime work easier. Even if you have to work the whole day long, you can pop in the house for a quick dinner with the family and get back to work. And, you can get home in an instant as soon as the task is done.
5. You Can Use Your Log Cabin Office All Year Round
You may think that a log cabin can only serve as a summer office because it will get too cold in the winter, but that doesn’t have to be true. You can build an all-weather log cabin if your office work needs are all year round.
Wood is an excellent insulator. Most modern Scandinavian-style cabins are designed to be cool in summer and warm in winter. The heating and the insulation in your cabin can be very efficient as long as you specify your needs to your contractor.
6. A Log Cabin Office Will Help You Achieve the Perfect Work-Life Balance
If you set up your office in your yard, you’ll be one big step closer to achieving the perfect work-life balance. As mentioned, remote work has its downsides, even if you set up your office in the comfort of your living room.
When you’re working from home, lines between office and home can become blurred. Family members doing chores and pets pestering you for food are just some of the things that can get in the way of work.
When there is no sense of separation between work time and home time, your work life may become unhealthy and unproductive. Mixing the two is not a great idea if you want to get some work done.
When you step outside your house and step into your log cabin office, you’re sending out a strong signal to your brain that work time has started. You are also signaling to others that you are not to be disturbed.
Your home life and family relationships can suffer as well when work issues become a part of your home life. By setting up your office in your log cabin, you can leave the work behind each time you step out of it.
7. A Log Cabin Office Adds Value to Your Property
Even if you don’t need a home office, a log cabin can be an excellent solution for extra space in your garden.
If you ever decide to sell your house, your log cabin office can deliver great ROI. Potential buyers may not need a home office, but they can turn the log cabin into a recreational area or even an extra room. If your log cabin is “livable,” it will increase the value of your property.
The more amenities your log cabin has, the more value it will add to your property. But, if you want to build a larger cabin with many features, you will need to make sure it is up to code.
8. A Log Cabin Office Can Have Multiple Uses
Source – UnSplash.com
Your log cabin doesn’t have to be just your office. It can be as versatile as you want it to be, especially if it is custom made. You can use your log cabin office whenever you need a place to unwind all by yourself.
If your cabin is big enough, you can also use it as a workshop or a leisure room. You can turn one corner of your log cabin into a gym or a storage area. When you are not working, it can serve as a lovely log summerhouse.
9. Log Cabin Offices Are Environmentally Friendly
If you want an eco-friendly home office, a log cabin is the best way to go. Timber is a naturally renewable resource.
If you want to reduce your carbon footprint and help fight global warming, you can build a log cabin using sustainably grown wood. On top of being better for the environment, natural materials can help you create a more peaceful and harmonious workplace.
10. A Log Cabin Office Can be Super Energy-Efficient
As mentioned, timber is a great insulator. Logs have natural air pockets that help maintain consistent temperatures. This means you need less energy to warm your cabin, which translates to lower heating bills.
Many modern log cabins are specifically designed to be energy efficient. Solar-powered log cabins are becoming increasingly popular.
When you are building a log cabin from scratch, it is easy to incorporate some passive solar design features. Even though such features add to the price, they will eventually payback for themselves. To maximize energy efficiency, you can also install Low-E windows.
11. You Customize and Personalize Your Log Cabin As Much As You Want
Your log cabin office will be entirely yours. If you are not renting it or sharing it with an entire department, you can tailor fit it to your needs. You can add as many personal touches to your log cabin office as you wish.
If you have a bit of a green thumb and would like to bring your log cabin to life, simply go for it. Decorate your new office with your favorite plants and flowers. To make it more comfortable, you can add a rug, cushions, and garden furniture.
Let’s not forget about the artwork. Add a homely touch to your log cabin office by adding sculptures and framed posters. You can get even more creative and design the artwork yourself.
You can paint the cabin to your liking as well. When it comes to modern garden offices, whitewashed walls are a popular trend. Light colors on the inside of the shed can maximize the feeling of space.
But, if you want to go with a more rustic look, you can simply use stain instead of paint. The same goes for the exterior. You are free to organize and adjust everything in a way that will make you feel the most comfortable while you are working.
12. Log Cabin Maintenance is Not Difficult
Another common misconception about log cabins is that they are hard to clean and maintain. The most prevalent myth is that it takes a lot of time to maintain a log cabin. This is true when it comes to old log cabins, but modern log cabins are designed to be low-maintenance.
As long as you use a quality stain that is recommended for your log cabin, you won’t have any problems. If you use best quality timber and metal roofing materials, you will hardly ever have to deal with repairs.
Generally, log-cabin maintenance is a bi-annual activity. You will need to inspect it during fall and spring. You will also have to apply a new stain every three years. For a year-round office, you can use every day, this really isn’t much.
Takeaway
If you want to set up a home office, you can’t go wrong with a log cabin. Log cabins are cost-efficient, energy-efficient, and easy to build. But, most importantly, they are cozy and tranquil. On top of being a great workplace, your log cabin can improve your work-life balance.

3 Steps in the Natural Treatment of Depression
Although we don't like to speak approximately it, melancholy is a chief hassle in America. According to information, one out each ten people will be afflicted by despair sooner or later in our lives. Sixteen million people (that's 6.9% of the population) had as a minimum one fundamental depressive episode in 2012. And each year, the variety of Miami Personal Training humans being identified with this ailment increases through 20%. With numbers like this, it's miles secure to mention that depression is a disease that impacts almost all of us in a few manner, whether or not that is in my opinion or inside our circle of circle of relatives and friends.
One of the worst things approximately despair is that the very signs of the ailment (fatigue, emotions of hopelessness, tendency for isolation) make it hard for the sufferer to are looking for assist and search for opportunity alternatives. Think of this in comparison to something like cancer, in which it is very not unusual for the newly recognized patient to seek more than one clinical evaluations and scour the net for natural remedies. There is some thing approximately most cancers and sicknesses like it that initiate a fighter's mentality. But unfortunately with the aid of its very nature, melancholy usually takes the combat completely out of the character.
The right information in all of this is that there are herbal and effective remedy options for humans suffering from depression. Although it's far given one large call, the truth is that there are numerous one of a kind reasons, presentations, and signs of melancholy. Therefore, what works to assist one person can be absolutely useless for someone else. But whilst you take some time to get the whole tale, treat the whole character, and Best Miami Personal Training  paintings together to put into effect new life abilties, the consequences can be pretty superb. Below I even have mentioned the three most essential steps in the natural remedy of this developing disorder.
Rule out or treat bodily causes:
In order to have an powerful remedy, it's miles very essential to either rule out or deal with any viable bodily causes that may be contributing to a affected person's melancholy. There are MANY bodily conditions that may purpose depression, some of that are acknowledged through traditional remedy and some of which are not. I would love to talk approximately a couple of them in more element:
Nutritional deficiencies: Low levels of many distinctive vitamins and minerals as well as important fatty acids (omega three's) are related to melancholy. It is specially critical to test for low nutrition B6, B12, and folic acid in depressed sufferers. These three nutrients are normally depleted via stress as well as with the aid of the usage of oral birth control. Unfortunately, conventional labwork is not the most correct manner to check nutrition stages. This is due to the fact those labs most effective take a look at the serum level of nutrients, that is the amount of vitamins floating round in your bloodstream at the unique time of the blood draw. A extra accurate manner to test for nutritional deficiencies is to check the extent of nutrients which are certainly inner your blood cells. This kind of checking out suggests precisely how a great deal of every nutrition the frame has genuinely absorbed and is capable of use.
Additionally, due to a genetic deficiency called the MTHFR genetic defect, some human beings are unable to transform the folic acid they ingest into the lively and usable form referred to as L-methylfolate. While this disorder can lead to a number of different metabolic problems, it's far specifically essential in melancholy. This is due to the fact low folic acid prevents the body from producing adequate degrees of serotonin, epinephrine, and dopamine. Spectracell Laboratories is a wonderful laboratory that as it should be checks for nutrient deficiencies and MTHFR genetic defects through the blood. The information gleamed from these assessments permits physicians to prescribe surprisingly correct and unique dietary remedies that may have a profound effect on patients' health.
Adrenal Imbalance: Both expanded and depressed levels of adrenal hormones, particularly cortisol, can reason signs and symptoms of melancholy. If cortisol degrees are too high, this can inhibit the frame's ability to transform tryptophan to serotonin. On top of the tremendous temper changes that serotonin deficiency can cause, serotonin is a right away precursor to melatonin, a hormone this is vitally critical to sleep. Excess cortisol additionally inhibits thyroid hormone production and might lead to hypothyroidism, any other circumstance that may cause symptoms of melancholy. Low ranges of cortisol are also related to temper adjustments, melancholy, and fatigue. The most accurate way to test adrenal hormones is thru the saliva. Salivary checking out measures the biologically energetic component of these hormones, and, because it may be executed at home, it lets in for precise dimension of hormones at distinctive times of the day and/or month. This gives the physician a entire image of how plenty hormone the body is really able to utilize and how that hormone stage fluctuates based totally on physical rhythms.
Hypothyroidism: The maximum common signs of hypothyroidism-fatigue, unhappiness, brain fog, issue wondering, and inability to shed pounds-are a number of the very equal signs and symptoms of despair. For this cause, it is very crucial for each person who's experiencing these signs and symptoms should have their thyroid checked before starting any form of anti-depressant remedy. It is crucial that the physician runs a full thyroid panel (TSH, Free T3, Free T4, thyroid antibodies) and now not simply TSH, because many cases of hypothyroidism may be neglected in any other case.
There are too many metabolic reasons of depression to go into detail about every one, however here's a listing of other critical situations to rule out and/or deal with if vital in case you are tormented by melancholy:
Hyperthyroidism Pituitary, parathyroid, or sex hormone imbalance Autoimmune disease Fibromyalgia Chronic fatigue syndrome Environmental toxicities Food allergies Chronic infections Medication side-outcomes Hypoglycemia PMS Lifestyle picks: lack of workout, sunshine, and/or sleep Obesity Other illnesses: heart and lung diseases, neurological disorders, anemia, and many others.
Homeopathic Treatment
Homeopathic medicine is frequently very helpful in treating despair and tension. Homeopathy is a very safe and gentle system of drugs which could have very profound healing effects whilst used effectively. Because it really works differently than traditional medicines and supplements, it can be tough to explain exactly how the remedies work.
Dana Ullman summarized homeopathy beautifully in his Huffington Post article on the homeopathic treatment of depression. He stated that, "the basis behind homeopathy is that signs and symptoms of infection aren't just some thing "wrong" with the individual but are absolutely efforts of their bodymind to fight contamination and/or to conform to pressure. Instead of the use of large doses of pharmacological dealers to inhibit or suppress symptoms, very small and mainly organized doses of medicinal substances are in my view prescribed to a person for their specific capacity to reason an overdose within the comparable signs that the sick man or woman is having. By locating a medicine that matches the symptoms of the sick character, the medicine supports and augments the body's defenses." (1) In different words, even as many other kinds of remedy treat the disorder itself and all the signs that ailment comes with, homeopathy treats the unwell character in my opinion.
Get Connected
No matter the way you deal with despair, healing from this disease will in no way arise in isolation. One of the worst elements approximately despair is that it lies to you. It tells you which you are on my own, personal training in miami that no one understands you, and that you are unfixable. But this isn't always true. It can be an exceedingly tough and hard step to invite for help, however in case you do I promise that you may find own family members, buddies, and health specialists who will gladly step in to support you.
Besides commencing up to buddies and own family, working through the mental, emotional, and spiritual causes of melancholy with a qualified intellectual fitness career is especially treasured. Many councilors train strategies that interrupt and adjust the terrible thought patterns that often arise in the mind of depressed patients. They also serve as a non-biased, non-judgmental sounding board for thoughts that a depressed character may not be comfortable sharing with every body else. As with any persistent disorder, recuperation from melancholy is a long time and multifaceted procedure. In my experience, the those who gain the most profound and lasting restoration are those who combine physical remedies with intellectual, emotional, and non secular boom practices.

How To Get Fashion To Work For You
Fashion is constantly changing these days. Fashion is exactly what you make it and there are various ways to find the newset trends and fashions. Keep reading to get great tips on improving your fashion sense.
Only buy clothes that are flattering to your figure. Do not think that you must have every fashion trend that is available, even if it does not look good on you. No matter how trendy an item is, if it is not flattering to your figure, don't consider buying it.
Black is a good basic color to wear with other colors, but do not concentrate on wearing black all the time. While wearing black on the bottom half of your body can be somewhat slimming, make sure you jazz your style up by adding something colorful on your upper body.
How to apply your makeup depends on where you are going. For example, if you are going for an interview, keep your makeup looking natural and highlight your best feature. For instance, if you have beautiful eyes, wear a soft color that enhances the color of your eyes. If your best feature is your cheekbones, add a little color to the apple of your cheeks.
Be careful when using mascara, and do try getting more product on the brush by pushing it carefully into the container. That only traps air in the bottle. The trapped air increases the likelihood of bacterial growth in the mascara and that can lead to eye infections. If you hope to have your brush coated well, move it around inside the container, but not in and out.
A good fashion tip is to start experimenting with your style if you've become very bored with your wardrobe. You can do this by simply trying out a new type of clothing that you've never worn before such as a scarf or certain kind of dress. This will definitely freshen up your wardrobe.
Don't shy away from thrift stores. You may be reluctant to wear used clothing, but keep an open mind. If you don't have much money to spend on a new outfit, your local thrift store could prove perfect. Check out thrift stores regularly. You could end up finding some unique, fashionable additions to your wardrobe.
Choose your fashion shopping friends wisely. Your friends can make hunting for the newest fashions fun and exciting. But if you bring a friend with a competitive shopping streak, she may tempt you into buying clothes that either don't fit you well or are outside of your budget. Make your decisions on your own time with your needs in mind.
Think about picking up some sandals or boots with wedged heels. They help shorter women add some height to their frame and they also elongate the body, making you look like you weight less. As with any heel, practice walking in wedges before purchasing them. This ensures that you can manage the height of the heel gracefully.
Never be afraid of reinventing yourself. There is no rule that says you must always dress one certain way. In fact, if you did, it would be quite boring. Take a look at Madonna. She has changed her look numerous times over the years, which is part of her appeal. If you are thinking of going blonde, do it. If you have had long hair all your life, try out short hair. Life is about taking changes, and that definitely applies to fashion.
Always break in a new pair of shoes before a special occasion or a long awaited vacation trip. There is nothing worse than finding that a new pair of shoes pinches or rubs when you are in the middle of a wedding reception or walking on a guided tour of a fabulous new city.
A great fashion tip when it comes to blue jeans is to go for the smaller-sized pair if you are in doubt. As long as they are still comfortable, this is a good pick because jeans tend to stretch, and you do not want to have folds or a baggy appearance in unintended areas.

How To Get The Hair You Have Always Wanted Now!
In today's world caring for your hair is a crucial part to succeeding in society. When you think about it, successful people are properly groomed, and managed. Short hairstyles  This is why managing your hair is a crucial part to succeeding in society. It is a representation of who you are. Read on to learn about how to care for your hair.
It is crucial that you get a haircut every 5 to 6 weeks. This is because human hair grows about a quarter to a half an inch every month, and when hair grows, split ends tend to form. Getting a haircut this frequently will prevent split ends from occurring, while getting rid of any you may have.
Make sure your hair is thoroughly wet before you apply shampoo and begin washing it. If you start to scrub your hair and scalp without getting it wet enough first, you are much more likely to have strands of your hair break off in your hands. When the hair is wet, it is more pliable and will resist breakage better.
Make sure you are getting proper nutrition and rest. Stress, on its own, does not make your hair fall out. Normal hair loss is from 50 to 120 strands each day. Stress does, however, use up additional resources and when your body becomes deficient, hair loss can result. Resources include the B Vitamins and other important nutrients. Additionally, poor sleep over time wears down your body's adrenal system, impacting hormones, which can also trigger hair loss.
When you are drying off your hair after a shower, do take care to be quite gentle. Vigorous and enthusiastic rubbing can cause hair damage and breakage to occur, not to mention, tough to remove tangles. Instead, take the towel and gently squeeze out the excess water, while delicately blotting the roots.
Be sure to select a hair style that works with your face shape. A hair cut may look fantastic on your friend or a celebrity, but that doesn't mean it'll flatter you. Find a hair stylist you can work with, and come up with a hair cut that will make your features shine.
You can easily damage hair with constant use of curling irons and blow dryers. Special gels and serums are available to help protect against the damage caused by heat styling tools. This will ensure your hair get the protection it needs.
It is important that you use a good conditioner to make your hair stronger and get rid of tangles easily. Apply your conditioner after rinsing the shampoo out of your hair. Make sure that your hair is completely covered and wait a few minutes for the conditioner to soak your hair.
Be careful with the use of hair extensions. While hair extensions are a quick way to get longer hair, they can also cause serious damage to your natural hair and scalp. The heavy weight of the extensions can pull out natural hair, and the bonding solution can dry it out.
Sometimes, it is vital to use styling products to get the look that you want, but do not overuse gels or creams on your hair. Excessive use can strip your hair of its natural ingredients and cause build up which does not look attractive. Limit your use of products for optimal hair health.
During the summer months, it's crucial that you put extra effort into caring for your hair. Always take the time to wash your hair after swimming or spending time in the sun. It's also a good idea to keep your hair covered with a bandanna or a loose cap, if you plan on being out all day.
Wash your hair when it seems dirty. Some folks insist on washing their hair daily. This could cause more damage than it will help. It could cause your hair and scalp to dry out. Typically, a person's hair only needs to be washed about two or three times a week.
Hairstyles
Take care with brushing your hair if it is still wet. While hair is wet, it is weaker and more susceptible to tension and breakage. Allow most of the moisture to leave your hair before you begin brushing. Also, avoid creating too much tension on your locks from hairstyles that increase breakage over time, such as cornrows or high-tension braiding.
Hairstyle
A soft, smooth pillowcase can help you keep your hairstyle, as well as, your hair. Sleeping on a pillow covered in a textured fabric or low-thread count cotton pillowcase can actually pull your hair and cause it to fall out. Use a smooth pillow-covering, wherever you lay your head and help keep your hair where it belongs.
It is one thing to know how to care for your hair properly, but it is another to apply it. Make sure you apply all that you have learned, so that you can have great looking hair, that look representable for the world to see. You will notice a change in the way people treat you, when you have hair that is cared for greatly.
Great Fashion Advice From The Pro's Who Know!
Sometimes, fashion just means wearing clothes with matching colors. Other times, it means hours in the bathroom preparing yourself for a special occasion. There is no day in your life where you could not save a few minutes with the right fashion tips and ideas.   Mehandi Designs  Read on into this article for paragraphs full of them.
When choosing clothes, think about what season you are. If you look good in reds and oranges, you are a "summer" and probably will look good in any warm color (like yellow). If you look good in blues, you are likely a "winter" and look good in whites and greys as well.
If you have to wear stockings, make sure that you wear some that fit you very well and are not too large or too small. Wearing the wrong size can make you very uncomfortable and it does not look good for you if you have to adjust them in public areas.
Don't be afraid to top off your look with an awesome hat. In days gone by, it was commonplace for women and men to wear hats on a daily basis. What was once the height of fashion has, unfortunately, fallen to the wayside in modern times. Be adventurous, and finish off your look with an ultra-cool fedora or a pretty sun hat.
Don't be afraid to go up a size if it means achieving the perfect fit. It can be quite distressing when you try on your usual size only to find it doesn't fit. Don't fret! Sizes vary from designer to designer and brand to brand, so it is perfectly okay to go up a size from your usual size.
If you tend to be a bit on the heavy side, do not try to hide your shape by dressing in baggy clothing. The added volume only accentuates your size and makes you look frumpy. Look for clothing that is more fitted around your waistline, but then flows away from your lower body to create more shape.
If you are starting to go gray, try using a vegetable dye. As long as it is just a few strands that are causing anxiety, this product should do the trick. It turns the gray a shade that is a tad lighter than the rest of your hair. Using vegetable dye will make it look as though you have nice, new highlights and will then fade out over about three months.
A good fashion tip is to select your clothing for the day based on color. You don't want to step outside with your shirt and shorts clashing because they're complimentary colors. Experiment with different color combinations and see which colors you like and which color combinations you don't like so much.
Always keep your eye out for any changes in the latest styles. You can watch the fashion magazines, and their websites, to know what the latest craze is. Magazines are going to be your best friend because they probably have the information that you need.
In order to make sure that you can fit into the latest fashion trends you are going to want to make sure that you are as slim as possible. Diet and exercise so you don't feel embarrassed because you can't fit into some of the latest trends that this season's fashion has to offer you.
Do not wear your hair too dark if you have lighter skin and/or lighter eyes. While darker hair looks nice on people that have darker eyes and skin tones, it will only make you look washed out. If you must darken your hair, put some streaks in it in order to brighten them up.
Wear clothes that flatter your body type. Just because something is in style does not mean that you should wear it. Every style was created with a certain body type in mind. For example, skinny jeans were not made to make people look skinny; they were made for people that already are thin.
Before getting ready to throw out your beauty products, use every last ounce of it. For tube products, use the squeezing devices designed for toothpaste. Bottles can be turned upside down, or on their side, to help you extract the last bits of products. You can also take the the tops off when it reaches the end. You can save money by doing this.
If you wear leather, take care of it. When you buy a leather garment, ask the salesperson what kind of animal was used for it and what the tanning process was. Find out the specific care steps you need to take both right after purchase and over the lifetime of the garment.
Sometimes you want matching color clothes for an exercise class, or you might be helping a bride or groom get ready for their marriage ceremony. You spend at least a few minutes every day focused on fashion. Save some of those moments for something else with the time saving tips in this article that make fashion easier.
