1966: April ArtForum Larry Zox, Kornblee Gallery
In addition to her pieces on Darby Bannard and Hans Hofmann, Krauss wrote about Larry Zox's exhibition at Kornblee Gallery. The Gallery was owned by art dealer Jill Kornblee (who's name making headlines in 2023 via David Zwirner's restaging of the "ground-breaking" 1967 shows of Dan Flavin.) Krauss went a bit hard from the jump calling Zox's paintings attempts, however noting his use of color as redemptive but dry. The key phrase that is sticking out is tho is:
"...thereby playing off the structural apodicticity against the arbitrariness of contingency of illusionistic pictorial space."
which well encapsulates what its like to encounter Krauss' criticism.
