I am going on an official Work Trip, and even though I know---I know---it's largely going to be sitting in rooms with other business people, doing business-y things like brainstorming and swapping jargon, I'm still very nervous about it.

Satellite Boys Headcannons

Yusei is a he/they bi, Crow is a transmasc gay/asexual, and Jack is a very loud straight ally.

Aki and Carly and super into horror movies, which really sucks for Jack and Yusei who are really not into horror movies. Yusei can handle most gore, but psychological horrors really mess with him. Jack can't handle gore beyond a stab wound, but he doesn't really mind psychological horrors because he's just like 'nah im just built different (dumber)'

Crow is very superstitious, much like Martha. Knocking on wood, being wary of the number 13, throwing salt over your shoulder (though that one is kinda justified considering spirits are like a real thing in ygo) are all stuff he does on the regular

Crow is the only person in the house who can cook. Yusei has never touched an oven in his life because he's spent half of it forgetting to eat, and Jack is... Jack.

In between the three of them, Jack has caused the most property damage. This is very impressive considering Yusei likes to kick down every door he can't open, regardless of the situation. He can lock pick, he just decides not to most of the time. Crow is usually more sneaky when trying to get into places he's not supposed/allowed to, though he's not above shattering a few windows for fun. Jack just likes blowing stuff up.

Neither Jack or Yusei have gotten their ears pierced (Jack wears clip-ons), because Crow has told them horror stories of what happened when he got his ears pierced in prison and how horribly infected they got (he told them this with a bright smile because he thought itd impress them and has yet to realize the mental ramifications it has had on his family)

Hogan is Martha's last name.

Jack has the most refined fighting style, mainly sticking to hard-hitting punches that can knock you out in one blow. Yusei's is more of a freestyle, mixing both fast punches and kicks to knock someone down as quickly as possible. Crow fights like a kindergartner, with biting, hair-pulling, spitting in your eye being some of his go-to tactics. Crow has nearly bitten off someone's finger before, and is not afraid to do it again.

Crow has only ever served his full jail sentence once. Every other time he's broken out.

All three of them participate in the twin's school activities in some way. Crow and Yusei usually go to the PTA meetings, and Jack usually goes to things like sporting events because he is too competitive for his own good and nobody can stop him.

i can still so vividly remember the years when penny wong (foreign affairs) specifically used to be the one good politician everyone would look towards for hope in our political space. we wanted her to be prime minister. idpol analysis specifically hoped that her race and sexuality had granted her a more empathetic and critical perspective on politics. now she's the one being called out by name in protest chants. our prime minister used to attend pro-palestinian rallies - we trusted them, our muslim + arab population trusted them. and now This.

apparently ethics and values mean nothing in the face of supporting US interests in the middle east. another minute that any of them spend in power is one minute to many.

My friend and I went to see Saltburn and went in completely blind (typically we read the whole storyline prior to going). We were not expecting all of that. We agreed that Choices™️ were made that we wouldn’t have made ourselves, haha.

Oh gosh, yeah, haha, I feel like going in blind must've been a bit of a shock.

I kinda knew what to expect because a friend of mine had already told me it was 'if Talented Mr Ripley was dumb' and I'd seen a bit of the press for it so was expecting certain scenes, and look - - I was just commenting to @nakedmonkey, but I do think the worst crime a movie can commit is to be boring, and I don't think it was boring, so it had that going for it at the very least, haha.

Some of the performances were fun (Rosamund Pike in particular is always great), but overall, I just think it was just a really shallow film that was less interested in character arcs or relationships than it was in shock value. It flirted with these rich themes of class and race, power, attraction and intimacy, control and freedom, and it just chose the cheap shot every time. It was more interested in making the audience gasp or cringe than it was in actually having the characters evolve or devolve in a way that - - y'know, told a compelling story, and any shift in a dynamic was handled so limply that it had no real emotional impact.

I don't know. I still had enough fun watching it (my cinema was packed and the audience skewed pretty young, and their response was hilarious), but I just ultimately don't think it had as much to say as it pretended it did.

YEAH !! happy anniversary nnk2 thank you for changing my life in ways i cannot comprehend. thank you for holding my hand and helping me step into one of the sweetest and warmest communities i have ever known and shaped my middle schooler brain so gently carefully before i thrust myself into the wild and matured even more. i am really so genuinely grateful for this game and the people who enjoy it also. i've met dearest friends who are still with me to this day and taught me values i use until now. thank you for being so kind to me and being there when i need to rest and answer my fondness for the past when i look for it. thank you ni no kuni series and thank YOU ni no kuni 2 revenant kingdom !!!!!!

The empty mess deck wasn't chilly, but Jude felt cold. It was completely silent. Then, clunk. A canned drink popped out of the vending machine. He bent down to retrieve it just as mechanically. Iced coffee began to burn his palm... it was by a brand he didn't recognize. He stared at it even as he stood back up.

"....." This place was strange. He'd never been on a vessel quite like this before. All these pilots, all from different worlds. It felt surreal, because it was. Or maybe that was to be expected. He wasn't supposed to be here either, after all. No matter what anybody said about that being a good thing. Of course, he wanted to help out however he could, and thankfully, that did keep him busyー but in the lull between such times, Jude remembered.

Or more accurately, he couldn't. Because some of his memories prior to arriving seemed to be... scrambled ( but not the people he recalled. everything important to him was intact, memory-wise ). Speaking of forgetting, what was he supposed to be doing again? It was way past midnight, and he couldn't sleep despite really needing to. So he'd really just wandered in here?

That's right. After he'd ran into Law earlier today ( confirmed him ), everything became blank. The sheer relief he'd felt when he realized it really was his friend. The impossibility of it all. Jude hadn't even cared about embarrassing himself or Law when it happened. It didn't matter. Not how Law was rightfully confused. Nothing mattered in that moment, except for the feelings that had overpowered everything. Then, when Jude was alone again, it was like his emotions had been depleted, leaving only logic behind.

... I know it's not actually him. It's just like what happened with Milla. That Milla. Not Maxwell, but still Milla. It'd taken him too long to accept that. But, Law... he's alive in this place. Law had a disposition that Jude remembered from more than two years ago. It was carefree and so kind. He's happy. Painfully nostalgic. Even if he probably knows another me, I don't care. 'The dead never come back as themselves'ー that was true even now. And yet, Jude got to see him again in a way. This was the memory of his best friend he'd lost. A memory that was here. So it was enough.

No, it's already so much. I can't ask for moreー The thoughts from earlier tonight had chased him down here, coming from his room. Jude felt like he was there again, staring at the ceiling, fighting back the words he couldn't tell anyone.

I'm so scared.

The facts followed: if this was real, then his actions had extreme consequences again. In combat, for example. He could do it still. Despite everything going right so far. He could still fail, all over again. Then... what if this isn't actually happening? That would conveniently explain his jumbled memoriesーー

So you're running. Old habits die hard.

".....!" A soft metallic crunch killed the thoughts and a breath. Jude looked down, wide eyed... He'd squeezed the canned coffee too hard, now slightly bent and ruined. He stared at it with a look of shock, heart pounding in his ears. Then, disappointment.

"What am I doing...?" The words tiredly left his mouth. But maybe, he wasn't alone in hearing them.
