Hate being a taichi main because no matter how well I understand reni's story it only makes me become MORE bitter like what the FUCK do you mean you've told this sixteen year old that his life is essentially worthless and forever changed the trajectory of his life and his self worth and your reasoning is that "he didn't channel God in his performance"? Like. Damn. No shit he didn't.

I heart shitting on total trauma and I’ve seen not a lot of people mention how hard they butcher the girls (to be fair they butcher everyone)
(Btw the creator goes by pri/prin pronouns and we should respect that regardless of who prin is)
Like, making Sierra out to be a literal cheater and then forgiving it because “she’s aromantic” is REALLY GROSS as an aromantic greysexual person.
This one’s been talked to death but prin making Courtney into someone who dates barely legal 19 year olds while seeing that relationship as cute for the most part is weird and very telling of how they treat minors in real life
I don’t even want to go into their characterization of zoey.
Lindsay having dissociative amnesia, while interesting, is written extremely poorly and her abandoning her identity and then taking it back at the drop of a hat is super stupid. (This is coming from someone from a system and thus, experiences dissociative amnesia and identity issues)
We’re also not getting into the weird overly hot depiction of mikes abuser
While barely shown as of writing this take given prins track record Amy’s NPD is most likely going to be given very little of the care and respect it deserves
I really don’t fucking like this comic! Subzero level take but there are still some things I haven’t seen discussed which probably should be addressed considering the harm they can do

I am such a qunari/vashoth truther. It makes me insufferable. I want to see respect for their cultures so much. Even their creators don't really respect their way of being. (Calling vashoth qunari is my biggest gripe -- even though in da2 the qunari themselves explicitly stated AND it was AGAIN explained thoroughly by the Iron Bull in da3 that qunari is not a race but describing a follower of the Qun. Think of this: a follower of christianity is a christian. A NOT-christian is a pagan. A follower of the Qun is a qunari. A NOT-qunari is a vashoth) The "qunari" Inquistor for example, is NOT a qunari. They were born outside the Qun. They are pure vashoth. Their parents, who left the Qun, are vashoth or specifically, tal-vashoth, a specific term for someone not following the Qun who used to.
Another thing is names. Qunari don't have names. They have roles/jobs. The Sten..... from Origins, our character and the rest of the party think his NAME is Sten. But we as the player can understand his explanation. "Sten" is his role. He is "a Sten"/"the Sten". We literally SEE this as early as in da1 if we take the Sten into the Fade. In his dream with his fellow soldiers, they refer to him as the Sten of the group. Later on after da2, he is now the Arishok, not a Sten. It's not his name.
We pattern our own beliefs as a western modern society and tack them onto these fictional dragon people. Why. They're really cool and interesting. "Why do you differentiate between qunari and vashoth?" What? Like it's hard?

For all you Agrippa fans out there, I gotta give a shout-out to Lindsay Powell's book Marcus Agrippa: Right Hand Man of Caesar Augustus. Though the writing style is dry and at times adulatory, he's done a fantastic job bringing together a lot of disparate sources into one cohesive narrative, and backs all his statements up with citations. It's usually the first book I open when I need to look something up about Agrippa.
