Necrontyr Headcanon

(Note: I'm still fairly new to the Warhammer community so I could be totally off base and don't know if there are canon concepts around this topic, so lmk if there are already pre-established concepts. Also, feel free to add on if you like this idea!)

As Necrons are clearly so inspired by ancient Egypt anyway I think it would make sense if similarly to the ancient Egyptions they didn't really have marriage ceremonies. Once a couple was arranged they just moved in together. This makes sense to me as they short and unpredictable lifespans, and I think they would see some big ceremony over a marriage that could end rapidly due to death as a waste of time and resources. Major political marriages such as a union between political factions may have celebrations, but these would be less focused on the union of the spouses and more so on the newfound peace between peoples.

That being said, I do think they would celebrate anniversaries not only as a celebration of continued life, but for happy relationships that they were lucky enough to have time together. The longer they have been together the more elaborate the celebrations become.

tl;dr of the MANY words i am about to say: i have plans to present unity in the form of a wiki + video essay(s), though these may take a while to come to fruition. if you could read the whole thing thank you i love you i think i say good words.

SO. HI. ITS BEEN A WHILE. a lot of things have happened to me which includes like. yknow. dropping out of college and a special interest change, but here i am! thinking about unity! and, truly, i've never stopped thinking about unity at any point . but i think im finally at a point in which i have ideas that are concrete enough to share PLUS. y'all are overdue for an update on what's going on. so sorry.

so as the tl;dr already spoiled, i have plans to create a wiki for TFU and (a) video essay(s). the wiki will hold any and all information on unity, like character bios, vocab, etc., while the video essay(s) will be an explanation of what the plot of tfu would've been. which is a weird thing to type and read with my own eyes, the past tense of it.

its weird reading some of my older thoughts where i seem to really think that there was a possibility that unity could be a webcomic in any way shape or form. because i dont think it ever was a real possibility nor will it ever be a possibility. i dont say that solemnly at all, i say it just as a realistic matter of fact. because i dont know who else needs to hear this, but people who make huge, impressive projects by themselves or with little help are the exception and most definitely not the standard. and i think its unhealthy in a lot of ways to expect that level of work ethic from yourself, especially if you're like me and chronically ill, neurodivergent, mentally ill, etc.

i think i would've grown to hate unity if i had pushed for it to become a webcomic. instead, i'm actually really excited to work on it more and present in this format that's gonna be more accessible and way easier and fun for me to work on. and i dont feel any shame in like. idfk taking "the easy way out" i dont care !!!! what matters is im making shit and having fun and being happy while doing it.

ANYWAYS. it will still be quite a while until y'all see anything, i think at the earliest you may see it at the end of this year/early next year, but time will tell! i do have a long list of health issues and irl problems that impact my ability to work on stuff like this, but given that this is a lot less work than yknow. WORKING ON A WEBCOMIC. i hope it wont be too long until i can tell y'all that i've made progress :]

in the mean time, i've updated some of this blogs info and i'm gonna clear out the inbox to leave room for new asks. i might answer a few if i feel that i can talk about stuff w/o major spoilers (given that i'd still like to surprise y'all with some plot points and characters yknow <3). but if y'all have any questions or curiosities about what i've discussed here, or anything at all, definitely send them in, and i'll try to not leave you hanging for three years :)

I had plans today! I was gonna go see the new D&D movie! But no! I’m apparently being moved this weekend and I have what seems like no say in the matter! Am I in any way physically prepared for this? FUCK NO! I am maybe 25% packed! (oh trust me I am well beyond emotionally prepared for this, have been the majority of my life)

So since the movie got canceled, I was gonna doordash some delicious pancakes (and French toast) before all [vaguely waves hands] this, and what do I wake up to? My dad being home and my mom going to be home in twenty minutes. Because it’s “basically Easter.” And since I don’t want to hear mom bitch one last time about me spending money (that I earn), doordash has also been canceled.

Then there’s also the work injury I got two weeks ago, I’m fine, just a couple of cuts but it counted as a head injury enough they sent me home, and her first reaction? To bitch about my pay and ask if it broke my glasses. She doesn’t pay for my glasses, I do! So yes, please join me in a massive FUCK YOU BITCH to my mother today.

Skitarii Updates!

So some of the little guys were already painted but I wasn't too into the color scheme so I looked up some info on how to get paint off. I generally found that you should soak them in isopropyl alcohol and while most people were using 99.9% I only had 70% and found nothing saying I couldn't use that so I gave it a shot. Just to make sure nothing terrible happened I only soaked one fella first so here is that brave soldier adventuring where no skitarii has gone before o7

I let him soak for about 45 minutes, took him out, scrubbed him off with a toothbrush and he looked perfect, so the others got tossed into the boy soup

Let them soak for another 45 minutes and all was well. The only issue I had throughout the whole process was that some of the paint was really determined to stay on. Next time I may soak them a little longer to prevent this, but it was time to move on to priming. I went over to a friend's and they showed me how to prime (not super complicated, just a few little tips and tricks I'd recommend learning when you pick the hobby up) and then I finished the rest of the little guys at home. Here's what they all look like now!

Overall, I feel really proud so far and can't wait to get to painting, which I plan to start tomorrow. I'll keep you all posted!

Me when I get back from my mental health walk with 3-5 pieces of litter I picked up to dispose of properly. I guess there's something in there about how with progress - personal and community - often the most sustainable kind of change is incremental.
