Hi Everyone,

So, I am looking to start a blog, and I have done a lot of research into different hosting types and providers. I’ve decided to go with managed WordPress hosting. But I know that doesn’t tell you what type of hosting that is: as in, shared, VPS, dedicated, or cloud.

I’ve narrowed down my options of providers to Kinsta (cloud) and VeeroTech (VPS). Both seem like good options for me, albeit slightly different in their service offerings. Both have $30 per month plans, which is what I’m comparing below. (But I’m okay with paying more than that if necessary to get the features I’m looking for.)

To start, here are my answers to the questionnaire:

What is your monthly budget? Up to $65

Where are you/your users located? Primarily the U.S., as well as other English-speaking countries

What kind of site are you hosting (WordPress, phpBB, custom software, etc) or what is your use case? WordPress Blog

Do you have a monthly traffic volume? Estimates are ok. Anything up to 15,000; not really certain.

If you’re looking at VPSes: Do you have experience administrating linux servers and infrastructure? I’ve looked into VPSes, but have decided that I don’t want to personally handle optimization and security of the server.

Did you read the sidebar/check out the hosts listed there? I’ve personally vetted these companies and their services are a good fit for 99% of people. Yes, one of the providers I’m looking at is listed there.

My Comparison Table:

I believe Cloudflare provides better DDoS protection though. DNS Amazon Route 53 available (advertised as a “premium DNS”) when you use KeyCDN Would it be Cloudflare DNS? I’m not really sure. Is “premium DNS” important? But Cloudflare DNS seems to be faster than Route 53; see here: https://www.dnsperf.com/ Bandwidth/Visitors 20,000 visitors a month, then $1 per 1000 visitors “Unlimited bandwidth” Like I said under hosting type, because of Kinsta’s infrastructure, it seems they can better handle traffic spikes than VeeroTech. Server Software NGINX LiteSpeed Web Server Both seem good to me.

Overall, it seems like Kinsta is better for traffic spikes, but if I get DDoSed, I’m not sure that KeyCDN would offer any protection. Plus, Route 53 DNS is slower than Cloudflare’s DNS, which I assume is what VeeroTech would be using since their servers are protected by Cloudflare CDN. (Maybe I’m wrong on that?) The thing is, I really don’t like the idea that if I have a potential surge in traffic, like if a post goes viral (if I’m that lucky!), that I could lose out on a significant number of visitors just because my resource limits are maxed at VeeroTech. Is this the right way to look at it?

Unixy sitesinin buradaki konusunda Litespeed ile apachenin performansını test etmiş ve gözle görülür fark görülmüştür.

Test edilen makine ve yazılım özellikleri : çift çekirdek, 1gb ram, 10 gb HDD, wordpress ve sınırsız Kaynak erişimi.

İlk önce litespeedden başlayalım. 10.000 istek ve 100 eş zamanlı isteklerine göz atalım.

Gözle görülen farklar litespeed sanıyede 111 istek/sn ile kalırken apache ise 217 istek/sn ye kadar site yavaşlaması olmadan bu perfomansa erişmiştir. Ayrıca Lİtespeed isteklere yanıt verebilmek için daha fazla zaman ve kaynak harcamıştır. Aşağıdaki resimlerdeki istatistiklere göz atabilirsiniz.

Verilerden anlaşılıyor ki litespeed ücretli olması ve bu konuda uzmanların çalışmasına karşın apache daha fazla performans göstermiştir. Apache tabii ki bu performansı tek başına elde etmemiştir. Nginx+varnish ile birlikte göstermiştir. Ekstra masraf olmadan sunucu daha uygun şekilde ince ayarlandığı takdirde sağlam sonuçlar elde etmektedir.

Kinsta vs. VeeroTech? Which is better for a WordPress blog?

Hi Everyone,

So, I am looking to start a blog, and I have done a lot of research into different hosting types and providers. I've decided to go with managed WordPress hosting. But I know that doesn't tell you what type of hosting that is: as in, shared, VPS, dedicated, or cloud.

I've narrowed down my options of providers to Kinsta (cloud) and VeeroTech (VPS). Both seem like good options for me, albeit slightly different in their service offerings. Both have $30 per month plans, which is what I'm comparing below. (But I'm okay with paying more than that if necessary to get the features I'm looking for.)

To start, here are my answers to the questionnaire:

What is your monthly budget? Up to $65

Where are you/your users located? Primarily the U.S., as well as other English-speaking countries

What kind of site are you hosting (Wordpress, phpBB, custom software, etc) or what is your use case? WordPress Blog

Do you have a monthly traffic volume? Estimates are ok. Anything up to 15,000; not really certain.

If you’re looking at VPSes: Do you have experience administrating linux servers and infrastructure? I've looked into VPSes, but have decided that I don't want to personally handle optimization and security of the server.

Did you read the sidebar/check out the hosts listed there? I've personally vetted these companies and their services are a good fit for 99% of people. Yes, one of the providers I'm looking at is listed there.

My Comparison Table:

With VeeroTech, if your resource limits are reached, then your site just won't load for some people (right?). CDN KeyCDN is free; Cloudflare Railgun is $100/month per site on top of having to pay Cloudflare separately for Cloudflare Business ($5/mo) Cloudflare Railgun (at no additional cost) I like how VeeroTech provides Cloudflare Railgun CDN, but to be honest, I'm not sure how it compares to KeyCDN. I believe Cloudflare provides better DDoS protection though. DNS Amazon Route 53 available (advertised as a "premium DNS") when you use KeyCDN Would it be Cloudflare DNS? I'm not really sure. Is "premium DNS" important? But Cloudflare DNS seems to be faster than Route 53; see here: https://www.dnsperf.com/ Bandwidth/Visitors 20,000 visitors a month, then $1 per 1000 visitors "Unlimited bandwidth" Like I said under hosting type, because of Kinsta's infrastructure, it seems they can better handle traffic spikes than VeeroTech. Overall, it seems like Kinsta is better for traffic spikes, but if I get DDoSed, I'm not sure that KeyCDN would offer any protection. Plus, Route 53 DNS is slower than Cloudflare's DNS, which I assume is what VeeroTech would be using since their servers are protected by Cloudflare CDN. (Maybe I'm wrong on that?) The thing is, I really don't like the idea that if I have a potential surge in traffic, like if a post goes viral (if I'm that lucky!), that I could lose out on a significant number of visitors just because my resource limits are maxed at VeeroTech. Is this the right way to look at it?
