Independence Day Celebration 15-August-2024

As India celebrates its 78th Independence Day, the theme for this year’s Independence Day celebrations is ‘Viksit Bharat,’ which translates to ‘Developed India.’ This theme aligns with the Indian government’s vision to transform the nation into a developed country by 2047, the centenary of independence. Longowal Group of Colleges, Dera Bassi also celebrated Independence Day with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor. Dr. Kapil Katyal (Vice-Chairman) hoisted the national flag. The National Anthem was sung by the students and faculty members with great pride. The students remembered the supreme sacrifices of our freedom fighters through their poems and speeches. They showcased their patriotism through dance and singing performances. Dr. Kapil Katyal (Vice-Chairman) paid tribute to our freedom fighters. He said that Independence Day is a day of reflection and pride for the people of India. It reminds the nation of the countless sacrifices made by countless individuals for the freedom of the country. Dr. Rosy Katyal (Principal) in her address said that celebrating Independence Day instills a sense of pride and patriotism amongst the students. She also urged the students to be proud of their heritage and to contribute towards building a strong and prosperous India.

The students enthusiastically participated in the campaign particularly the first-time voters. Many cultural and artistic events like Rangoli making, Poster making, Essay Writing were organized to spread awareness about the right to vote and also about importance of this right.

The teachers and students also took the pledge of casting their vote righteously. Principal Dr. Rosy Katyal said that the program was aimed to educate students about the electoral process in order to increase their awareness and participation in the electoral process.
