In 2004, 50% of the Indian population was aged 30 years or younger; however, only 35 out of 543 Lok Sabha members (6%) were aged under 35. Nevertheless, the World Values Survey showed that the proportion of people aged 18–24 who identified themselves as "very" or "rather" interested in politics was around 50, an increase of 15% since 1990. To make a difference in the longer term, it is essential that young people are engaged in formal political processes and have a say in formulating today’s and tomorrow’s politics. Inclusive political participation is not only a fundamental political and democratic right but also is crucial to building stable and peaceful societies and developing policies that respond to the specific needs of younger generations. For young people to be adequately represented in political institutions, processes, and decision-making, and in particular in elections, they must know their rights and be given the necessary knowledge and capacity to participate in a meaningful way at all levels... Our young voters should take utmost care to exercise their franchise in the best interests of the nation. The Election Commission is sincerely trying to get more citizens to participate in the democratic process. Educational institutions, NGOs and the corporate sector have also pitched in to encourage our young citizens to vote. For political systems to be representative, all parts of society must be included. When young people are disenfranchised or disengaged from political processes, a significant portion of the population has little or no voice or influence in decisions that affect group members’ lives. A key consequence is the undermining of political systems’ representativeness. ,#politics #politicstoday #raiseyourvoice #indianpolitics #indianpolitics #indianyouth #youthparticipation #youthinpolitics #speakupfordemocracy #politicalsciencestudent #politicalscience #politicalsciences #tiss #tatainstituteofsocialsciences #politicalcareer #careerinpolitics #ᴍᴀʀᴀᴛʜɪᴍᴜʟɢᴀ #political_science #studentsunion #politics_महाराष्ट्र #politicalanalysis #politicalmovement #why #how #politicalconversations #newsreporters #savethispost #sharethispost #🇮🇳india , https://www.instagram.com/p/CSq2t1stoLA/?utm_medium=tumblr

My Organisation which is currently hosting me as a volunteer under the Erasmus+ Volunteering Projects supported me in preparing activities for the European Youth Week.
So, i created my own project proposal and  i submitted it under the organisation name. I carried out 2 events that took place in Floriana to touch upon various political issues with young people on their drive to engage in democracy in all its facets.
This aims to challenge young people, policy-makers, other youth organizations, public authorities, youth workers and other youth stakeholders to express themselves about topics such as community involvement, to be more resilient  to fake news or media literacy, and also make them reflect about the importance of voting and different benefits that can affect the society.
I was so proud of myself playing the important role of ‘ambassadors’ for actions such as the European Solidarity Corps, considering the potential of the new EU Youth Dialogue that will be launched as part of the new EU Youth Strategy.
Basically, these two days were introduced with a pannel discussion with several youth guests who had to have a talk for 5 minutes around the topic of the week: Democracy and its different aspects.
Within live streaming discussions, high-level political discussions, competitions, debates, networking events, exhibitions, we have covered essential points focusing Democracy and Social Media matters through sharing opinions in the democratic arena. Our duty was to educate and inspire young people about what democracy means and how one can participate, even through simple acts of writing a letter or walking the neighbor’s dog. We seeks to raise awareness about rights if participants as European citizens which can be useful in the future.

A look back on the story of the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) with an interview of a former president of Cebu City's SK Federation, who was only 17 years old when she assumed an elective position. The last batch of SK leaders' term ended November 2013 and since then there was no election. It was replaced in the interim with lesser known entity callee the Task Force on Youth Development. Monday Musings (a regular post)
One thing I'm working on: Preparing for Regional Cadet of the Year selections in one week's time! I can't wait to see our kids in action. One of their tasks will be to pull a random topic out of a hat and deliver a speech on that topic for 2 minutes! :D
What I'm celebrating: Two things in particular this week! An amazing regional staff forum last thursday night (spit-roast meats plus inspiring conversation and practical ideas? Um, yes please). And an exceptional Young Journalists training day organised by Neha Concisom, where 9 young people received a masterclass in storytelling and communications from some fantastic speakers.
What I'm reading: The 'Tao te Ching' by Lao Tzu, a Chinese classic text that is sometimes completely baffling but at other times inspiring.
Quote I'm pondering: "Water is the softest thing, yet it can penetrate mountains and earth. This shows clearly the principle of softness overcoming hardness." - Lao Tzu
