I get it, Lucifer is embracing his inner Phil Jackson. One of the psychology books on Linda's shelf perhaps.

Dan: "Shortcuts are not the answer." Writer's room, is that your way of telling me that you're not taking shortcuts this season and all these neat, expedient tricks are a ruse? Please don't be too speedy with your plot evolutions.

Amenadiel: "Chloe and I make a good team, I can see why you enjoy working with her." hell-arious.

This feels familiar. There is definitely a Lucifer-father Frank parallel with Decker and the nuns.

Lucifer drinking spiked coffee out of Dan's number one dad cup again It's heavy on the irony. That's at least the second time we've seen the dad mug. Are they trying to tell us something? Are they trying to queue up Dad?

Dan: "Great work Lucifer" / Luci: "take that back."

What other pop music does Amenadiel listen to while drinking cosmopolitans?

"Adoption, yay or nay?" Mazikeen is so great I'm these kind of undercover stings. I can't decide which I like better, her being wife decoy with Chloe or with Linda.

Lucifer's sign of the cross looks like a pageant wave 🤣. I don't know why but when he does it, it reminds me of someone flipping the bird.

Ohhhhh, hello, that's a thought...hell no longer needs a warden now that Lilith died, maybe she went back and is keeping an eye on her demon brood. I guess we won't be seeing her again, at least not on the earthly plane. Scratch that potential interest for now.

Maze is going through such a rocky storyline, I really hope she finally gets some center, some rock, she seems very untethered.

No shortcuts. I am so glad Lucifer actually learned from Dan's example and Dan was actually proud of Lucifer. Now, as per usual, I bet they set that up in order to crush us later.

Chloe: "You make me sound like a sadist." I mean, you stuck it out with Lucifer.

Dan and Lucifer are giddy like school girls...omg they actually made a bracelet bros handshake.

Can we speak in private? DB Woodside has the perfect "watch me work" head bob. If he had hair I bet he would do a hairflip.

Duuuuuuuuuuuuuude, Amenadiel needs to take back his rightful place as the right hand of God. Because damn son, Michael doesn't stand a snowball's chance in hell.

"You're the only mortal who sees [Lucifer] for who he truly is. You're not the gift, that is." Awww, That's a great way to put it Amenadude.

PS: Yes, Amenadiel's theories are always right and that's awesome. He was right about their self-actualization powers and Lucifer's appearance being tied to their feelings of worth. That being said, without downgrading his brilliance, dude didn't we already clear up this Chloe-Lucifer-vulnerability thing in season 1, and doesn't credit actually belong to Linda? Hasn't it already been blatantly obvious to Lucifans from the moment Linda said "Lucifer you're letting your guard down" and told him to stay away from Chloe, and he responded "but I don't want to." Of course Lucifer makes himself vulnerable because he loves her and he *chooses* to be with her. No need to spell it out because this is not news; Linda has a PhD in angel problems and Lucifans are intuitive AF. Case done been closed.

I hope they're not setting this up as a cheap writing out to make Luci invulnerable around Chloe selectively when he chooses. That crushes so many stakes.

Moreover, the BTS do not reveal the ratio of scenes a character has over an other.

This episode is a confusing one mainly because of its importance. Or at least its alleged importance that is based on two things. First that Lucifer may be finally free from the burden of Hell as he has finally found a dual solution on what ales him and Dan (I would call it more a co-dependence) and second because Peter Roth visited the set.

Starting with Roth’s presence in the set I would like to say that whoever noted that him there was odd on many different levels, it’s correct. Roth is you already read the President  & Chief Content Officer of Warner Bros TV. He is the guy if I remember right who called Ellis and told him to shine his horns because the show had been saved and as rumour has it he is also a fan of the show.

If you look at the background it’s obvious they are in the precinct but the hilarious part is that someone thought to make a mind map which leads to the concept of what should happen when you are on time on and when on time off. Now at first, I thought it was Chloe’s idea but then that Lucifer decided to take advantage again of the precinct supplies to make a point sans a toy rock this time. There is also a chair there but can we claim that it is either Chloe or Lucifer’s board as it is in Ella’s lab? For all, we know Ella has had enough and decides to educate one of the two… or both.

So the board ends with the supposedly that when they are working the time is on but when on a date they are on time meaning that Chloe should now SWITCH OFF her Detective mode and hopefully for everyone her phone. Like the fans, I suppose that Lucifer is aware of how many times he has been burned by technology and Detective work in general.

That leads us to the first stated importance of the episode. Lucifer is ready to date and this time I believe that Chloe is aware of that and nothing holds them back aside from A) her work and b) the fact that finding the answer to a problem and applying ourself to the solution is not the same.

At this point, we do not know how Lucifer and Dan are fairing but at least from Lucifer’s snippets on location he seems to be doing really well. There were no bts with Kevin nor any mention on the social media for him when that episode was shot but I believe he might have been at an award gathering out of L.A. However, the script does include him in the first page.

PS I might be wrong but along with Sister Andrea we might have a few more... like a coven... I think 4 or even 5 but I might be wrong... Perhaps the murder happens in a monastery or a member is part of that coven and that is why Amenadiel’s help is needed? 

^Well, this might be fun.... ^ 

Now what we can get from the bts first that we may have yet another Lucifer and Chloe moment on the penthouse piano as the stand-ins appear there in a bts. 

There is also a monitor bts which is from the penthouse but for me, it looks like leopard pants or a couple embracing but that might be wishful thinking.

What also has me thinking is a random drawing that was posted at that time where it shows a couple embracing. It might mean nothing and yet everything but I would advise starting this episode without expecting too much just in case.

Lucifer yes does appear to have put a blindfold at Chloe and is dragging her across Long Beach. There is nothing else there so I would assume that the scene has more emotional depth than Lucifer’s usual grand displays. That’s good as it probably means he has learned to not rely on money to make a moment worthwhile with her. As far as I know, there might have also have transferred a car there but I do not know if the Vette was there, unfortunately.

Yet should we rejoice? Is this is it? Well, we do see that there is  A LOT of trying yet this episode is titled ‘Detective Amenadiel’ not ‘Deckerstar overload’.  

It is true that we see Amenadiel and Chloe working a lot side by side, him visiting the murder scene and as far as we can tell not Lucifer. We also see that there is a weird Angel statue at the murder scene which resembles a lot of Azrael. Is this the time that Amenadiel learns the truth or that Azrael pops in and out for a guest appearance? Everything is possible but there are no bts to support it so I would once again advise to take this as a wild speculation.

^Meaning that Lucifer was at the precinct with Chloe and Amenadiel at some point. 

The bts at the interrogation room is a bit unnerving as it reminds me that Cain vibe but I don’t believe they are related to that yet it seems like a heinous crime has once again happened and this time the murderer is not about to go down that easily.

How he is connected to Amenadiel working with Chloe well, we do not know. In my opinion whatever has happened it is also connected to Amenadiel trying to find something that will help Lucifer and Dan and it’s something that only he can spot. I wouldn’t be surprised if his necklace makes a comeback but again that’s a wild speculation. What we do see is that Amenadiel wears now casual clothes meaning that Lucifer is back on running LUX, yet at the same time we do know that there is at least one action scene that includes Amenadiel and Chloe according to their stands at one of the set stages.

^Again just because we have few bts from certain actors or no info it does not mean they do not appear or that they are not important to the story!

Now the episode ends in a peculiar way, of course, it is impossible to know how and when I say episode, in reality, I mean case as that signals the end of the episode as well. The end of the episode takes as at the Jewelry District of Los Angeles in an alley where someone is expected to have a grand fall. If you remember the biker in 1x06 I’m expecting something like that but not exactly the same. We do know that Chloe that night wears her bullet necklace and that Lucifer comes to her aid or the other way around. We know that the resolution of the case is not easy but here is the thing… not everything is resolved as I do expect this episode to break us a bit.

Henderson mentioned that we get answers to certain questions and the will not be pleasant. There is no guarantee that this episode is were Chloe finds out her miracle status but it is a likely scenario for a very simple reason. In 5x06 Lucifer and Chloe are a bit distant, something has happened, something that irks them and because of that they cannot move forward. Whatever we conquered in 5x05 perhaps comes in question in 5x06. Also, you should know that the Hell set up to that point was still up meaning they had more uses for it.

Once again I remind you that this is a speculation but although 5x05 looks extremely good for Deckerstar fans it also appears to be coming with a lot of conditions… 

So 5x05 might not be what we expected but it will be memorable and that is guaranteed from Roth’s presence on set but also because Joe Henderson wrote this episode and thus we expect a leap in the story and of course Deckerstar.

this is an alternative, yet canon-compliant ending to 5x05.

the only miracle that mattered

I thought what we had was real.

It’s far from a curse. It’s a gift.

I’m not even a person. I’m a thing.

You’re not the gift, Chloe – that is.

Round and round and round the carousel went, like it did when she’d first seen his face.

She was used to it by now, after Rome, and Eve, and Michael, and every other bit of celestial nonsense she had had to deal with since Lucifer had entered her life. Well, sort of. Finding out you’re a literal miracle, made specifically for the Devil himself, that wasn’t just a normal Tuesday. Not even for Chloe Decker.

Her wineglass sat nearly untouched on her couch table. Booze had never helped, anyway. She fixated it instead of drinking, failing to quiet her thoughts for long seconds. But really, what was she trying to accomplish here?

Running away, pushing him away, overthinking every little thing and wallowing in her own misery… That had also never helped. It had brought them Kinley, actually, and demons running around in LA.

She would not make the same mistake twice.

You’re not the gift, Chloe – that is.

Talking. Talking to him had always helped.

As soon as the thought had formed, an intense wave of longing washed over her. She missed him. She missed his stupid smirk, his solid, warm body against hers, fingers tentatively caressing her back, voice hushed and awed. So very real, and not forever lost to Hell. She missed him. And she really, really needed to talk to him.

She was still good to drive, thanks to the untouched wine, but it was nearly – one in the morning? Already? How? Still, he’d probably still be up. Should she just go over to Lux? Would he–

She very nearly jumped when her phone started vibrating on the table. She turned it over, and it was Lucifer, of course. Speak of the bloody Devil. She couldn’t help her grin when she accepted the call.

“Lucifer!”

“Detective, I– I’m sorry, did I wake you?”

The subtle strain in his voice made her sit up straighter immediately, wiped the smile from her face.

“No, Lucifer, you didn’t actually. I was just going to– Nevermind. Is something wrong?“

“No, well– Yes. Detective, I– I need to talk to you. And I know you have no desire to see me right now, and I understand, I do, and it’s the middle of the night, I know, but I– I just need to.”

His voice broke on his last words, and his obvious despair made her stomach twist. Had she done this?

“Okay, Lucifer, it’s alright. I’m here, I’m listening.”

A shaky breath on the other end of the line, then another.

“Detective, first of all, I’m so sorry for what you have to go through. Because of me, again. That bastard Michael, and now this… I’m sorry, Detective. I wish it weren’t so.”

She wanted to interject something, anything to stop the pain that bled through his voice, but he was talking too fast.

“When I first found out about it, we had just gotten together for the first time. It– It crushed me. And it led me to do things that hurt you very badly, and I’m so sorry for those, too. I hope I’ll have the chance to properly explain, one day.”

He’d found out after– Wait, what things? Vegas? Candy?!

“But, Detective… I know I have no right to complain, and please know I would go back to Hell again in a heartbeat if it meant I was ensuring your safety, but– Chloe. I’ve missed you. So much. Being in Hell felt… different after knowing you. Too lonely.”

She could barely make out those last words, and something in her chest constricted. He’d never sounded so distressed and forlorn before. She was well aware he’d never show that much weakness to anyone else.

Amenadiel was right. She didn’t see her desires reflected in Lucifer, she didn’t see some perfect guy that she was inexplicably compelled to adore, she just saw him. An imperfect, hurting, deeply scarred, unspeakably beautiful soul that had somehow found its mate in hers.

And she wouldn’t, couldn’t hold what his Dad had done against him. After all, Trixie only existed because of God’s intervention. Her daughter lived because she lived. That alone made all the craziness worth it.

That, and that she was stupidly in love with the angel currently on the verge of breaking down on the other end of the line.

“And Detective, I– I know this is not what you want, and I shouldn’t say it, and not on the phone like this, and I’m– I’m screwing this up again, but I– Chloe. I love you. I’ve been in love with you for years. Thousands of years, if you count Hell. I love you, and I don’t think I’ll ever stop loving you. And you’ll never have to see me again if that’s what you want, but I just needed to say it. Even if I already blew my chance. I love you, Chloe.”

He was silent after that, and her heart just about stopped.

Lucifer loved her.

He loved her, and she loved him. Nothing else in this literally god-forsaken world mattered, and she had to tell him immediately.

“Lucifer?”

“Yes, Detective?”

“Would you mind coming over or–“

WHOOSH

Ah yes, wings. She’d really have to get used to angelic modes of transportation. She could just make out his silhouette behind her front door, and felt a pang when he didn’t enter unprompted. She pushed the feeling down and crossed over to let him in, and there he was.

He looked at lot like he’d sounded, hair dishevelled, suit jacket and vest gone, chest heaving, wings a glowing, shivering mass behind him. She blinked, and they were gone.

“Detective?”

“Lucifer. Don’t you want to barge in like you own the place?”

He frowned in the way she found terribly endearing, but made no move to come in.

“Oh for… Come in, please. Do you want some wine?”

Finally, he strode past her, stopping in the open space between her kitchen and her couch, as rigid and tense as she’d ever seen him. He turned to stare at her, raking his shaking hands through his hair, and suddenly she was reminded of a meeting in an interrogation room several celestial disasters ago.

“No, Detective, I don’t want wine. I– Forgive me. What are we doing here?”

He was terrified of what she’d do, what she’d say. Terrified she’d send him away for good. She shouldn’t have that power over him, over the Devil. Nobody should have that power over anyone, but it seemed like they were long past that.

Oh, Lucifer.

She quickly erased the distance between them and clasped his hands in hers, heart aching at the way he looked at her. Like his life depended on the words she’d say next. Maybe it did.

“Lucifer. Amenadiel came up with some interesting theories during our case.”

A snort.

“Did he, now?”

“Lucifer… You saw how that nun fawned over him. They were all like that. Just how regular people fawn over you.”

“So… Nuns have the hots for my brother? Good for him, I guess, but I don’t see what that has to do with u– With me.“

Another frown.

“Amenadiel thinks they saw their love for God in him, reflected back at them. And he thinks that… When everyone else looks at you and fawns over you, you reflect their desires back at them.”

“That’s… Where are you going with this, Detective?”

He loves you, and you love him. Courage, Decker.

“I don’t see that. I don’t see my desires reflected back at me when I look at you, Lucifer. I just see you. So, I– I don’t think that explains everything, and I can’t promise I won’t freak out again, but I– I trust that what I feel is real again. Lucifer, I love you, and I’m tired of things getting between us, tired of missing chances. We might never know what all this actually means, but… I don’t want anything to come between us, ever again. From now on, whatever it is, I want to face it with you. Together.”

The most radiant of smiles transformed his features, and she leaned in quickly to taste his happiness and kiss it off his lips. For a second, he remained stiff and shell-shocked, but then he opened up to her kiss, wrapping his arms around her tightly. The smallest sigh escaped him, and she rose on her tiptoes to get closer to him, resting her hands at the nape of his neck.

When she felt like it was possible to stop kissing him, she rested his forehead against his, eyes still closed, mouth stretched wide in an effervescent grin.

“You know, I never wanted Amenadiel to be right quite so badly, Detective.”

She opened her eyes in time with him, and he hid not one thing in the warm, dark brown of his eyes.

“Well, he was right before, wasn’t he?”

He huffed, then sobered a little, and pulled her even closer to him.

“Detective, I… I thought I’d lost you.”

Her heart beat erratically, and she needed to reassure herself as much as she needed to reassure him. Because they had lost each other one too many times before, had come close to missing another chance, yet again. But not this time.

“Never again, Lucifer. I meant it.”

She cradled his face in her hand, and he leaned into her touch, closing his eyes immediately. Instead of replying, he just exhaled tremulously, and Chloe brought her other hand up to touch his face as well.

“Chloe, will you just hold me for a little while?”

His voice was brittle and cracking, and her heart constricted once more. How many years did he have to survive without a single kind touch?

She embraced him as tight as she could, pressed a kiss onto his neck just to feel him shiver, and stroked his hair and his cheek, over his back and down his arms, and again, until he all but melted under her caress.

“Forever, Lucifer.”

He pulled back to search her eyes with his, opening and closing his mouth, seemingly unable to find any words. After a few seconds, he gave up, simply cradling her face in both his hands with the lightest of touches, smiling beatifically at her.

“Chloe.”

They’d found each other. He was here to stay, and she’d pour all her love into him, and try and make him forget there ever was a time he was lonely. They’d take on whatever may come, together. That was the only miracle that mattered.

okay, holy crap. so this is probably going to be long and rambly, and i’m writing it without having seen a single gif set or reaction from the fandom – scary. anyway, more below the cut! also spoilers, obviously.

first of all, asjsdklasjsjsjajkfds – i loved it so freaking much. canon deckerstar, fucking finally???? that sweet kiss in ep5? them not immediately breaking up again and instead working together on the issues they’re facing!? omg. it had so many amazing moments, and so many great stories for our characters, and so many little weird things that have always defined this show, and i am so so happy with it!!!

have some thoughts on every ep! i’ve only seen it once so this is far from elaborate meta, but i have to scream into the void somewhere before i dive into the madness of my dashboard. a little cautionary: there’ll be a bit negativity, but I’ll always put it in brackets so you can skip it easily.

5x01: really sad devil guy

i guessed mr. said out bitch would turn up in hell, and it was such a cool episode! i loved how they interwove it and showed lucifer ruling hell and them solving the case at the same time. and how michael showed up? they almost had me fooled there that it was actually lucifer. well done!

(the thought that it has already been thousands of years for lucifer again is so incredibly sad, like i really can’t think about it for long. an old otp of mine was separated for 20 years and i’ve always found it unbelievably cruel, so thousands of years is just… i don’t care that he’s used to greater spans of time, i really can’t think about it for long. and i don’t like that everybody just accepted that he’s gone now. that there was no rescue plan or anything like that.)

5x02: lucifer! lucifer! lucifer!

friggin’ michael, seriously. amazing scene with the wings though! and chloe bringing burgers and fries to the penthouse, omg. and that ending with her shooting him?? and that she knew something was wrong since their first kiss? i screamed. you go girl!! i was getting kinda worried through the episode but this ending was perfect. and a nice little nugget of knowledge regarding what they’re thinking about lucifer in heaven. very curious what michael’s grand plan turns out to be and what god’ll have to say to all of that!

(maze though. i get she’s going through a lot and i do emphatize with her but the constant scheming… i don’t know if i’ll ever really warm up to her.)

5x03: diablo!

the clowns in the hell loop, lmao. and their actual reunion and lucifer’s soft smile and chloe immediately embracing him again and them holding hands – someone hold me. of bloody course everything went to shit right after, but this was so very sweet! and lucifer bonding with dan, amazing. and the meta of course, lmao. their confrontation at the end ripped my heart out, but it hurt so good.

(the michael/lucifer fight wasn’t as spectacular as i’d hoped, but whatever!)

5x04: it never ends well for the chicken

unexpected, but totally awesome! such a fun ep, and i love that we finally know the backstory for his ring! and step-satan, yay!

(trixie kinda playing lucifer for maze felt a little icky, though, and i’d have loved it if they confirmed that she actually believes in him being the devil.)

5x05: detective amenadiel

again, lucifer and dan bonding, amazing! the case was pretty fun too, but amenadiel’s revelation was the best by far. i’ve never exactly thought of the whole miracle/immunity situation like that, but it’s such a great interpretation. it’s not that lucifer finally has a challenge in chloe, it’s that she’s the only human with a chance to see him and love him for who he really is, and… damn. if that isn’t some big romantic shit. and i bloody loved the kiss at the piano!!

5x06: blueballz

these little loved up idiots holding hands and flirting on the case?! aiaiaiai can you tell i’m still smiling from ear to ear??! lucifer being jealous and tribe night and the guys collectively trying to calm charlie down… amazeballs. also dan reveal? did not see that coming, not at all, but it was a nice punch to the gut after they finally got along again and lucifer even wore his stupid bracelet. and new devil face, again! this one’s actually a little bit scarier than the last one. and the deckerstar sex scene, for real, without interruption? loved it, loved that chloe was apparently on top and his awed little “incredible…” – be still my heart!!

(i mean i’m greedy and it could have been longer or more explicit but i get that filming these scenes sucks and that’s what fanfic is for, anyway.)

5x07: our mojo

i melted at the morning after scene!! and did not see the mojo storyline coming at all, but it was fun, and they’re such a great team together! dan’s scene at charlotte’s grave was so powerful. and the scene in the flower shop, I could only think of @thewolffgang’s fic! chloe hyping lucifer up was so sweet, but then it was so scary seeing him paralyzed like that. that sweet penthouse balcony scene, and then dan trying to ruin the evening. i don’t know what it means that he’s not vulnerable around her anymore (and i don’t necessarily like it) but i hope they’ll resolve it together in the second half of the season.

5x08: spoiler alert

just, holy crap. these last episodes really had me at the edge of my seat. watching lucifer realize chloe’s been kidnapped?? painful, but good shit, good good shit. him thinking they’re too late and chloe is already dead? god, no. that little “detective?” broke my heart. but him doing all the detective work? amazing. i was so bummed for ella though!! i really thought pete was a good guy, but oh well. so creepy, omg. i’m so grateful that there was no cliffhanger with chloe’s rescue. i really, really liked how god showed up at the last second. can i have the next episodes now, pretty please??

(what was the point of charlie’s flu, though? and wtf does michael think he’s doing? and maze, really, with the questionable alliances?)

overall i feel like s4 felt a little tighter or more coherent, but i don’t care because deckerstar is finally canon and there’s a ton of great potential for the next half and i’m so deliriously happy because of that. yay! going to check my dashboard now, wish me luck!
