Gillion, the chosen one

Loved nonetheless, yet the pressure of their love and expectation weighed heavy on his shoulders. 'If only', he thought, 'there were another to share it'.

A.k.a. I was thinking a lot about him and the deities today, and I thought of how lonely being the chosen one was and how hopeful he seemed at the idea of another :") I am so normal about this

(Also I gave Lunadeyis an outfit that accentuates more of the top half of her body and Astra an outfit that accentuates the lower half bc of the mooning/flashing jokes <3)

Thinking about how Gillion would compare Chip to the sun.

Thinking about how he’d look at Chip and realise that he was a child of Aster the same way Gillion was of Lunadeyis.

Thinking about how he’d see the freckles across Chip’s cheeks and body, and be convinced, surely at first, that they were his own set of stars. How he’d have it explained that it were marks from rays of sunlight, and realise quickly that it was a gift from the goddess herself. How he’d compare it to his own markings, the blue and orange stripes over his own flesh.

Thinking about how Gillion is so connected to the water, and how he’s helped Chip slowly embraced his fire. The way they reflect and balance each-other, so much like the sun and moon. Gillion would notice too, Chip might try to ignore the thought.

Thinking about the poetry Gillion might’ve read, the sun and the moon’s tragic romance. Maybe he’d see connections between them, relate a little, find a strange sense of power in proving them wrong, in holding Chip and Jay close besides their differences. Maybe he’d worry that destiny would tear them apart too.

Thinking about how Gillion would talk to the moon, to Lunadeyis, recalling stories and telling her about his companions. There’d never be any reply, but he figured it would be lonely where she was, watching from the sky. He hoped it might bring her some comfort, he hoped she was watching.

saw kat on twitter post their version of Aster and Lunadeyis so hey - that means I should post mine too!!!

Lunadeyis, I always imagined her as white and looming like white diamond from SU, but more smooth like water and not as sharp. she has a sleeveless tank with similar markings to gillion’s and arm-long artist’s gloves. her hair is smooth at the top but waves out like a shoreline near the bottom. She has a studious/thoughtful expression.

Aster. I Imagined her form sharper like yellow diamond, her color scheme similar too like the earth’s core. her clothes are more loose and flowy to fit with what land people would wear typically. She also has arm length gloves that show her acrylic nails (her and malice probably had girl nights). her hair is a soft afro thats round-shapen to appear similar to the sun. she has a confident/assertive expression.

When I think of them I imagine that at one point, they were simply childhood friends in a quiet village. :)

More seriously I wanted to design Lunadeyis and Aster, and while Aster's design will most likely change (I'm not the biggest fan of how I drew her here) I am very happy with Luna. And also Gillion is cute.

LUNADEYIS' PRIMARY FOLLOWERS ARE PIRATES. i promise this makes sense.

i don't care if it's not canon it's practically spelled out that the ferins and aster have a connection of sorts - and though they're a family name that's almost interchangeable with RAFT, they're still humans. they advocate for land, rather than sea. they fight for order, for discipline.

the seas aren't like that. they're open, kind or not, but calling.

"but vyrion! what about the tritons and everyone else who lives in the undersea?"

the undersea is a place that's kind of. untouched. in a sense. by the politics of the overseas. grizzly has mentioned that they pay more attention to the leviathans, because that's far more tangible than some goddess of a thing in the sky when they probably don't even see the moon on a regular basis. i can't make too many inferences because the only major parts of it we've heard about are the elders and gillion's experiences, and i'm not sure either are fully representative of the culture there, but i doubt they hold the same loose principles.

pirates, on the other hand. pirates are seeking freedom, or exploration, or riches. or. whatever. they're on the sea for a Reason.

worshiping the goddess who looks after the seas? yeah! that makes sense! she's on your side!

there's less. rigidness? with her traditions. sure, the grand temple of the moon exists in liquidus. that doesn't mean that services can't move.

there's. habits. traditions. little things you do to pay respect rather than dedicating hours at a time to service. toss a coin to the sea, leave a gift for another. pass a kindness forward. there's occasions, sure, where it calls for grandiosity - but those are a community, built on tradition that changes with the tide. things you can respect on the deck of a ship, laughing while you dance with another.

the pirate's favorite goddess is that of the moon, because her blessing doesnt feel as conditional as that of the sun's

Aster, Connor, and Lunadeyis are in a polycule. We have two goddesses and then just a guy named Connor Connors.

Also, Aster is so cool. Imagine finding an egg similar to the one your uncle disappeared with and then using it to move dimensions. Then in the new dimension you just become a goddess. How cool is that?

I have absolutely NO evidence to support this other than the fact Grizzly notoriously loves tragic lesbians, BUT

The sun and moon goddesses, Lunadeyis and Aster, were TOTALLY in love, right? it would be the most romantic sapphic tragic story ever of mana

like maybe they had a rough break-up and fought about it or something and that caused the funky shit going on?? 

(I don’t know I haven’t thought this out I just think the sun and moon are/were smooching)

PLUS that’s like a common story of the sun and moon in some cultures/religions, right? I swear I’ve heard tales of it before
