@thediktatortot sent me some song recommendations with specific harringrove-coded lyrics and I decided I wanted to write something for as many different ones as I have the juice, because I was genuinely inspired and thank you thank you friend for the recommends!
-
First Song: Lemon Boy by Cavetown
“It’s actually pretty easy being nice to a bitter boy like him, so I got myself a citrus friend.”
-
Here’s the thing about Billy Hargrove:
He’s simple.
Everyone (all the girls) think he’s this complicated thing. This person with a million different layers and a million different faces. And, Steve guesses, that’s sorta true.
But really, he’s kinda easy to understand.
He needs kindness.
There’s not much more to it than that.
And sure, maybe the why is where the layers come in. He needs kindness because he never gets any blah, blah, blah.
But at the end of the day, a few nice things, and he’s loyal forever.
Steve figured it out kind of accidentally.
Because Billy forgot his textbook in American History, and they sit alphabetically by last name in that class, and so, Steve kinda nudged his book over so that Billy could look on and wouldn’t lose any participation points that day for not being able to answer questions and read when the teacher asked, and so, it was one tiny nice thing.
Okay, maybe it was more than one tiny nice thing.
Because it was a chain of tiny nice things.
Starting with the textbook, and finishing with Steve sucking Billy off in the backseat of the Camaro to “blow off some steam”.
After the textbook, came the apology.
Half-assed, for sure, and written in scribbly, smudgy handwriting. Not signed, but clear who it’s from.
Sorry for messing you up like that.
Steve returned it with his own note, dropped pointedly on Billy’s desk in class.
Sorry for being weird. I promise nothing shady was going on with your sister. I get it though. No hard feelings.
Billy glanced at Steve through his lashes, and Steve was a little disappointed that Billy hadn’t forgotten his history textbook.
The next nice thing was a coffee.
Because Steve made himself coffee and a breakfast sandwich on the mornings he decided he didn’t care if he was late to school.
He was driving to school, listening to an old mixtape he found at the bottom of his glovebox, and he saw Billy. Head bent low, walking along the side of the road.
HIs hands were in his pockets, and the line of his shoulders was tense. He was all but stomping, and the clear aura of pissed off somehow didn’t deter Steve from pulling along next to him, reaching over to roll down the passenger side window.
“Hargrove! You want a ride.”
The stomping stopped, but Billy gave no other indication that he had heard Steve.
The BMW’s engine idled.
“C’mon, man. It’s like three more miles to school. Lemme drive you.”
When Billy turned to get into the car, Steve was why he was keeping his head down and his shoulders around his ears.
He had a big black shiner, a bruise covering his whole left eye.
He sat low in the passenger seat, cranking the window back up.
“Looks nasty.”
Billy only grunted in response.
“Car in the shop?”
Billy snorted.
“My dad took my keys.”
Ah.
Probably clocked him in the face, too.
Steve’s no stranger to it, even if his dad’s more of a smacker than a puncher. He also had a weird realization that Billy’s dad must be left-handed, like Billy himself.
Steve took his coffee out of the cup holder, passing it to Billy.
“You look like you need this more than I do.”
The next nice thing was kinda the one that pushed them over the line.
Over the line from acquaintances that once beat each other up to actual sort of friends.
It was also not a nice thing Steve did.
It was one Billy did.
And Steve wasn't even there to witness it.
All he saw was the blue green bruising on Tommy H.'s jaw.
"When are you gonna learn, Tommy. Don't pick fights you can't win."
Tommy nearly snarled at Steve from the bleachers, catching himself last minute before he made a seen in front of the entire P.E. class.
Steve only smirked, and took his seat in front of Tommy.
The coach stood in front of the bored class, explaining that they'd be running laps today.
It's what they did whenever he was too hungover to actually make them so anything.
But it's fine. Steve's always been a good runner, and it means he doesn't have to think about anything or talk to anyone while he went.
He tensed when he felt Tommy lean forward behind him, getting in close to murmur in Steve's ear.
"Found yourself a new attack dog, huh, Stevie? Hargrove nearly knocked my teeth out when I called you a pussy. You givin' it up for him, too?"
"Careful, Buddy. You sound jealous."
Tommy snorted and leaned back, but Steve's gut was rolling.
Billy had taken down Tommy for saying something shitty behind Steve's back.
It made Steve's face hot.
Billy showed up twenty minutes late to P.E. He gave Coach a note, and started his laps with the rest of the class.
Steve slowed his pace to get next to him.
Billy's knuckled were a little bruised, and he had a scratch mark on his neck.
Tommy did always fight dirty.
"Heard you gave it to Tommy."
"He deserved it." Billy kept his eyes forward, his pace steady.
"Yeah. He's a toolbag."
They jogged in silence.
Steve opened his mouth to ask something, when Billy piped up.
"Are we, like, friends?"
"I think so. Unless you make a habit of beating the shit out of people for calling your non-friends pussies."
Steve caught Billy's eye and grinned. Billy's smile was reluctant and small, but Steve liked it.
"Last to finish ten laps owes the winner a milkshake." Steve clapped Billy on the back, and took off, easily weaving through the gaggle of junior girls walking in front of them.
"Harrington, you bastard!"

I would love a crossover image of Dob from Planet Dob with ENA from Ena.
They both would seem to be good pals since both are pretty weird in a cool way.
Images and videos not mine but links are there.

When I first saw Ena change faces and body she gave me Hexadecimal from Reboot vibes mixed with Zoogs.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I would love a crossover image of John Doe from the John Doe game with ENA from Ena but as a yousona traveling to the uncanny valley.
John Doe could just be Ena's partner character like Moony or just a random character she meets.
I can see Ena fall for Maison Talo's buyer house trick trap.
I can also imagine his character intro being a black silhouette of his house body and his lurebody walking through the door to greet Ena and giving her the business card as a inventory item.
Images not mine but links are there.
Maison Talo's house is from the game Househunted that Mortisfox made.
Uncanny ENA AU
--------------------
I imagine this Ena writing with a penpal to a random person in the uncanny valley then finally decided to visit her penpal.
Ena asking everyone a question while holding the handwritten letter.
Having Realtors lying about the penpal being inside of their housebody.
Have Ena appear in her room writing to her pen pal which is a mystery to her wanting to met up.
Then the episode starts with Ena on a bullet train like bus that takes you to different worlds.
Kind of like the polar express with the bus driver's hand.
Ticket punch - Wikipedia
Then have Ena not having her ticket and freaking out then have the bus driver laugh and punching the ticket with it's ticket puncher hand.
Have ENA interact with the bus patrons to get their stories.
When ENA arrives in the Uncanny Valley I can see her looking around in awe.
While off screen see a male Zable realm jump hitting the top of the bus screaming as a easter egg.
Maybe have one scene where Zable interviews ENA wanting to know where he is and becomes a party member.
Then end up meeting a Realtor trying to lure both of them in but Zable says this fool smells moldy then the Realtor gets too offended by that comment.
Have the Realtor try to trick the both of them to get inside of the house to be eaten.
The Ena in this AU has a hourglass dog as a service animal.
I can see this dog protect her and help her out.
I can see this ENA with her service animal hourglass dog talking to everyone in the Uncanny Valley while avoiding being eaten by anyone with male Zable.
With ENA trying to figure out what her penpal's looks like from the sketch of themself which is a okay sketch of John Doe.
This ENA would think this Uncanny Valley place is weird but interesting in a abstract art kind of way.
I would name the male hourglass dog Nugget.
A song I liked.

Love and Paranoia
Chapter One
Fandom: Red Dead Redemption
Pairing: Kieran Duffy x female reader
Summary: Ever since Kieran Duffy had been tied to that damn tree by your tent you've been pestered by your unavoidable guilt, were you a terrible individual for standing by and letting him be treated as he was? Or were you an idiot not seeing him for who he really is. Who the camp say he is.
Chapter Song: Paranoid Android - Radiohead (lyrics in bold)
Tossing and turning rather than getting a good healthy sleep was a common occurrence for you at bed time. Tonight was different though, you were actually very tired and more than ready to get a full night's sleep, this time your torment was not being caused by your own rushing mind but an unforgiving constant shuffling and infrequent thumping from just outside of your tent. You'd pinned it in your mind on Cain, the overly friendly dog that hung around camp, and you believed he would run off at some distraction soon enough. It was only when the thudding increased greatly that you became tense and made a swift impulsive movement up onto your feet. You grab your beaten up old long leather coat and scratched up and engraved in cattleman revolver that both were sitting right by your bedroll as they were each night. With the coat draped over your shoulders, not doing much to heat your body in just your black nightdress underneath. You push confidently out the front of the tent, gun clutched in a steel grip. A thud emits from somewhere on the left of you and whip your head around to be met with a familiar shadowy figure struggling against the tree beside your tent.
You: "god damnit O'Driscoll, what'chu doin' over there?!"
Irritated, you fly your hands around in expression when you speak. Gun still armed.
Kieran: "I- I'm sorry miss- I was just"
You : "just what?"
Your eyes slim and jaw clenched
Kieran: "I..."
His lack of explanation was enough for you to pace towards him and grab ahold of the ropes that bound him to the tree to give them a merciless tightening.
You: "not another peep, ya' here?"
His defeated eyes hit the ground and after a few steps back to your tent so does your stomach, wrapping the coat around your body and folding your arms. You say in a more tender but still blunt tone with noticeable guilt:
You: "Please could you stop the noise I'm trying to get some rest, okay?"
He nods, staring down still. You move forward on impulse for a moment but hold off your empathetic instinct and turn back towards your tent. After just one step you notice a shuffling noise from the wooded dark area ahead of you.
Kieran: "What's that?"
He whips his head back up
You: "nothin'. Your bein' paranoid"
Kieran: "I may be paranoid, but not an idiot, even the people in this camp wanna hurt me- I- I'm not really all that safe wherever I am miss"
He explains, his voice lowering to eventually almost a whisper as he speaks. You look back at him and scan his face shortly, realising he's right to think the way he does. Suddenly a massive thump and then distressed sound immediately identifiable to a horse pierces your ears followed by an incredible cloud of dust from the dirt as a large animal hurdles erratically from out of the woods to a bit before your tent and collapses. The creature does not give out on its crying. The dust and the screaming pushes your mind to a panic state and you run to the familiar horse that layed before you. Kieran, all the while, flinching and gasping at the scene. You soon enough recognise the beast to be your spotted brown dutch warmblood, Puncher. You knelt before him and searched his body for wounds, the helpless feeling growing from your searching fingertips to throughout your entire body. Seeing your big and strong companion laying on his side, kicking and squealing had you panic-stricken.
Kieran: "i-it's his ankle!"
You: "what?!"
You manage to pull your hard stare from Puncher for a moment to peer back at a worried Kieran with his head twisted around awkwardly to be able to see you and your horse both as helpless as eachother.
Kieran: "his ankles broken miss y/n!"
You whip your head back to your horse and realise he's spot on when you finally notice the dislodged look of just above his hoof to his leg.
Kieran: "l-let me out and I can help!"
You: "no way! I can't do that!"
Kieran: "please, miss, I swear on my life I won't do nothin'. I just wanna help your horse"
His more calmed tone eased you a surprising amount. You spring up from your squat and pace back into your tent, Kieran watching you intently whilst still flickering his eyes back onto Puncher on the ground. You come out a second later with your patterned/engraved-in knife and head straight for Kieran, grabbing ahold of his bounds and making short work of each rope. Kieran falls forwards upon release, letting out a few small sighs and sounds of relief whilst moving his wrists carefully to work them back into the regularity of motion.
You: "hey, help my horse O'Driscoll!"
You command, frustrated at his momentary dwelling. Kieran flinches at your raised tone before rushing to the floored beast. He kneels slowly, whispering gentle 'sshh sshh's and 'its okay boy's, leaving you in awe of how quickly he calms your horse. Not completely since he was still obviously in alot of pain but enough to allow Kieran to lay extremely gentle fingers on the injured ankle in assessment. You kneel close next to Kieran.
You: "oh, Puncher, how'd you manage to get away from your post boy?"
You speak directly to your frightened friend, petting his face and head soothingly as you maintained contact with his delicate eyes.
Kieran: "the post you always hitch him to has been loose for a while, real loose"
You: "huh?"
Kieran: "I just noticed is all. Got alot of of time to observe y'know"
You: "well... why didn't you say somethin' then?"
Kieran: "s-sorry miss"
You break eye contact with your horse and peer to Kieran to be met with a maintained concentrated glare at the ankle.
You: "are you frightened of me Kieran?"
Kieran: "huh- sorry miss?"
He looks at you
You: "your ever so nervous boy. You don't gotta be. I know I seem like I'm on a war path sometimes but, I ain't got nothin' against you... and, I do know you ain't no O'Driscoll really. I can tell"
Kieran: "I... appreciate that, miss"
You take a deep breath and bring yourself back to the situation.
You: "the hell d'you reckon happened?"
Kieran: "this sorta injury, coulda been a fall from some sorta great height or somethin'. But I'll tell you now there ain't nothin' we can do but push that ankle back into place, and it ain't gonna be pretty miss"
You: "b-but he'll be okay, no?"
Kieran: "maybe"
He sighs
You: "the hell d'you mean maybe?"
Your brows screwed together in resistance to the information you were receiving.
Kieran: "you probably won't be able to ride him again, and if he messes it up again by not being able to keep still..."
His silence communicates the horror of the situation he was trying to get across.
You: "n-no"
You felt like crying
Kieran: "ju-just hold on, he can still be okay, alright?"
Kieran places his hands around Puncher's ankle after enough examination and with one quick movement pushes the swollen ankle back into place. Puncher lets out an ear piercing squeal and you gasp, distraught seeing your boy in so much pain. His legs begin kicking outwards and Kieran grabs ahold of your shoulders to pull you back away from the horse only for you to crawl straight back to him and try to hold his quickly moving head.
You: "boy, Puncher, it's me. C'mon"
You stroke the sides of his head and gradually calm him. You hear a wobbly 'uuhh' from Kieran beside you but don't divide your attention from your horse until the footsteps he seemed to be reacting to became noticeable. You twist round to see Hosea stood with a lantern in one hand and a shotgun in the other, a fair few steps from where you and Kieran sat in the dirt.
Hosea: "what on earth is all this noise?"
Is all he exclaims in a low tone.
You: "I- it's puncher, he ripped his post out the ground and managed to break his ankle"
Hosea: "oh, y/n"
His gaze softens and he moves closer to you before finally commenting on the elephant in the room, being trembling Kieran.
Hosea: "and why the hell isn't he tied to a damn tree?"
You: "he knows about horses Hosea, he's spoken before about working in a stable. He was just helping me-"
Before you could babble further trying to defend your actions of releasing Kieran aswell as the man himself you were cut off by the dominating action of Hosea grabbing ahold of Kierans upper arm and pulling him not so gently to his feet.
You: "you won't hurt him or nothin' will ya'?"
You spring to your feet and ask in a tone that almost sounds begging.
Hosea: "I suppose I have no reason to"
His gaze changes from you to him and hardens when doing so
Hosea: "but you stay well away from this girl, you understand boy? No more sweet talkin' your way out of ropes. Or I'll be the first one to teach you a lesson"
Kieran: "yes sir, I- I weren't sweet talkin' but yes sir"
Hosea looks back at you in almost disbelief that Kieran would appose to his commands or beliefs.
You: "he weren't, Hosea, I let him out on my own accord. Swear it."
You tell him with vulnerable eye contact. You share a very quick glance with Kieran before he's hauled in the other direction by the arm to be tied elsewhere to another, more distant tree.
Upon looking back at your horse, he'd now seemed to calm quite a bit, with the occasional grunt or quickness of breath to soon be controlled again. As well as he was laying upright and not flopped onto his side as he previously appeared. Hosea soon showed beside you, kneeling and laying down his gun so he could hold his hand in a rubbing motion on your upper back whilst the other kept the lantern upright.
Hosea: "y'know horses aren't all that good at healing up broken bones y/n... You remember why?"
He asks gently
You: "cus they can't keep still"
You answer with a bitter sweet smile, remembering one of the many lessons Hosea had given you as a girl. This particular one arising upon your questioning of where Hosea's black Tennessee walker mare with the broken leg had gone.
You: "he could still be alright though- Kieran said"
Hosea: "did he now"
He asks rhetorically in an innocent enough tone.
Hosea: "well how about we give him a new hitching po-"
You: "I'm not leaving him"
Hosea laughs just a bit
Hosea: "oh I know. That's why I was about to say, how about we give Puncher a new hitching post right here. Right by your tent so you can still hear him right next to you when you go back to bed"
You: "that... that sounds lovely Hosea, thankyou"
Hosea: "the least I can do, my girl. The least I can do"
He rubs the top of your head with his palm, messing your hair in a tease before lifting himself back into a stand (grabbing his gun in the motion) and heading back toward his tent to drop his things off. The lantern no longer really needed as it was already becoming light now.
Hosea: "you go back to bed y/n, I'll fix it up"
You: "no don't be silly-"
He cuts you off
Hosea: "it won't take a minute, it's just a stick in the ground. Get some sleep y/n"
You: "well, alright then, thankyou Hosea"
Your head aches a little waking up. A stuffy feeling throughout your body but nothing you were confused by as you'd been up till daybreak again. Nothing an active, or rather distracted, mind and some fresh air wouldn't fix. After a few moments of sitting up and taking in your surroundings you were reminded of last night's quite dramatic scenario as you hear a soft grunt from Puncher beside your tent. You chuck on some general work clothes and head out your tent, heading directly to Puncher. You were overjoyed to find him still contently layed down and not attempting too much to any movement. You give a little head scratch to him with a warm smile.
You: "good boy Puncher, you keep this up and you'll be better in no time"
You greet your horse under your breath.
Hosea: "I gave him a few sleepy herbs so he wouldn't necessarily want to stretch his legs all that much"
The familiar comfort of the smell of coffee paired with Hosea's voice both drew closer from behind you. Hosea hands you a cup of coffee and takes a few sips from his own before shooting you a tired smile.
Hosea: "he's s good horse, y/n, and I reckon he might just be alright"
He gives a heavy pat to your back and then leaves you once again. This morning had you feeling today was going to be alright.
After a sit down with Puncher to drink your coffee and give him some nice scratches you headed toward the centre of the camp to grab your hunting gear and a few bags. It only took until you equipped your bow and turned your body toward the horse station that it hit you.
"shit"
You mutter. You scan the lot of horses in an attempt to find one that you were certain wouldn't need to be used by their owner at any point today (knowing this would be quite a drawn-out hunting trip and couldn't predict just how long you'd be out) but you already knew there was really no use.
"god damnit"
You exclaim and drop the bow back to the small desk in defeat. You only look back up when you hear some fuss from a corner of camp. You, unsurprisingly, find Dutch giving Kieran grief from his new post. You sigh and stride over. Knowing exactly what this is all about.
Dutch: "heard you weaseled outa' these last night O'Driscoll"
You: "no, Dutch, he didn't."
Dutch turns to you, his hands on his hips and one brow upright curiously.
You: "I needed his help with Puncher, he broke his ankle"
Dutch: "so you just let him out? You should have gotten one of us y/n"
He tries his best to sound empathetic
You: "Kieran knows about horses, Dutch"
Dutch: "that's nice"
He answers in a belittling manor
You: "god damnit, he's alright y'know. He ain't no O'Driscoll monster, I don't know why we even still got him tied up like this"
A few heads begin to turn throughout the camp
Dutch: "I know that. But we still can't trust him"
You: "fine... but I hope you feel bad"
You throw a hand in the air in defeat and turn again to leave it at that
Dutch: "excuse me?"
Those two words give you a dropping sensation in your stomach. You hated being told off by Dutch more than alot of things.
Hosea: "it is a bit... inhumane, Dutch"
He pipes up between drags of his cigarette
Hosea: "he's an alright kid. He helped alot with y/n's horse for sure. Plus... he took me to get some herbs for him aswell"
You: "huh?"
Hosea: "I don't have a clue in the world where to find sleepy herbs for horses y/n. But this kid sure does. If he's all that bad, how come he didn't just run off or kill me"
He makes his point and then gets that familiar look in his eye that he always does that indicates that he is fully standing his ground. Dutch knows the look and doesn't argue, just leaving it at a slightly petty, grumbly comment.
Dutch: "probably 'cus you were the one with the guns"
He heads back to his tent with a head shake. You decide there and then what you were going to do about the hunting situation.
You: "c'mon, I'm going hunting and your gonna show me where you get those herbs from"
You command and grab ahold of Kieran's bounds once again but this time civilly undoing them rather than knifing at them.
Dutch: "hey!"
He calls
You: "he's gonna show me where those herbs are, that's all! Plus I need some extra hands"
Dutch simply sighs and shakes his head. As you begin to pace forward Kieran absentmindedly stares off before noticing and doing a little jog to catch up. On your way you receive another signature Hosea pat.
Hosea: "be safe y/n"
You: "I will. See ya' round"
You make your way directly back to your things. When collecting them up suddenly a strong grip takes ahold of your shoulder and pulls you round to see the body the arm was extended from.
Arthur: "sorry y/n, huntin' is gonna have to wait"
You: "what?"
Arthur: "I need your pet for a bit, don't worry I ain't gonna hurt him"
He gives a gruff laugh
You: "tell me what's going on Arthur!"
Arthur, now grabbing ahold of Kieran and dragging him toward the horse station. You would've thought the poor thing would be used to being dragged by the arm by now but he still looked so worried under Arthur's force.
Arthur: "he's gonna show me where our old friend Colm is hiding out, aren't ya' son?"
Kieran: "oh um, yes of course sir"
He goes along, remembering his promise to do just that after the gruesome threat of gelding the day previous (which you'd been unlucky enough to watch unfold but smart enough to know they wouldn't actually do anything and didn't interfere), the only reason the gang was actually keeping him around other than him knowing where camp was.
You: "I'm coming."
You demand rather than ask, Arthur giving an eye roll as he recognised that stubborn force painted all over you.
Arthur: "fine"
He grumbles and pulls himself up onto his horse
Arthur: "Bill, John, let's go!"
He calls
John: "we goin' to see Colm?"
Arthur: "according to him, yes we are"
You, with a hand, place yourself on the back of Arthur's horse and clutch your hands comfortably on his sides.
Kieran had given some fairly vague directions with the promise of more detail closer to the cabin Colm was supposedly in. Now just a little bit into the woods, the atmosphere wasn't lacking any talkative characters between you.
John: "Sharing saddle with an O'Driscoll, never thought I'd see the day"
Kieran: "I told you, I ain't no O'Driscoll"
John: "you look like one... and you smell like one, jesus"
Kieran: "I smell like horse shit!"
The men laugh
You: "only cus you boys probably chucked it at him, you god damn animals"
You add with a huff of resistant laughter
Arthur: "so how come your all cozy all of a sudden with this 'Kieran'. Not like you to make friends too easy"
You: "I ain't cozy with nobody Arthur. I just... well someone oughta' look out for him"
Arthur: "not really"
You: "why not?"
Irritation evident in your voice
Arthur: "'cus we don't know the first thing about him. He could be leading us to our deaths right now y/n. Don't trust nobody but eachother, you know that"
He preaches
You: "course I do. But he is one of us now, whether you like it or not. Unless he actually does lead us to some trap today, he's one of our boys now... plus I think it's downright evil how you men treat him, which is of no consequence at all- which is exactly why you do it. People shouldn't have that sorta power in my opinion is all I'm sayin'"
Arthur: "your gonna get yourself killed with your opinion one day y/n"
Arthur shakes his head endearingly as he speaks with a small smile. Knowing he probably doesn't have the smarts to up your point. The other two stay quiet aswell. It's mainly silent until a little peep from the back of John's horse.
Kieran: "thankyou miss"
You don't answer in any way, keeping your typical cold composure to remind him and the others that no matter your opinion on matters such as those regarding empathy and morals you were still stoic and only loyal to few. Sticking up for the underdog was starting to become associated with you so very quickly and you didn't like it one bit.
Soon enough, after quite a bit of bickering between the boys and Kieran, you were perched with the three men on the top of a hill, watching three O'Driscoll's heading back to the hideout. John suddenly pulls Kieran back to his chest by gripping a hand over his mouth and then placing a gun to the side of his head in threat to keep quiet. Two of them reached the camp and had stopped walking, one stopped to piss on a tree. A bit before the other two who stood together.
Bill: "alright Morgan, what're we gonna do about the pisser? The one by the tree"
You: "I've got this"
You draw your bow and with one smooth release take out the man with an arrow through the brain.
Bill: "nice one little lady"
You: "call me that again and you won't be likin' my bow work anymore Bill"
He gives a quiet little chuckle
Arthur: "follow my lead and stay focused"
He adds in a stoic tone and starts creeping forward, throwing knife in hand. Bill equips the same and you hold onto you bow - John mindlessly dropping his gun in an attempt to keep up and replacing it with his knife.
John: "don't move"
He whispers to Kieran and the three of you push up with Arthur. After reaching the bottom of the hill and hidden almost in plain site right by the camp Arthur's tone rushes to a shout.
Arthur: "right, take 'em out"
Swiftly grabbing ahold of your shotgun and the others equipping their firearms in sync, the scene turns to a shootout with the conveniently small O'Driscoll group. The three of you manage to skillfully take them out fairly quickly.
Bill: "these O'Driscoll sons of bitches got supplies!"
He yells in that common Bill excitement and you and John follow him in collecting up supplies from around the unlit campfire as well as the corpses scattered around. A sudden bang knocks you back and almost off your feet, dropping the body you were looting and whipping your head round to see Arthur layed on his back with his hands held out helplessly as a man stood in the doorframe of the cabin Colm was supposed to be in held a gun pointed between Arthur's eyes. You absolutely panic and instead of any motion you scream:
"Arthur!"
Another bang brings a hand to your mouth as you really thought for a moment that Arthur had been killed. It was only when the man above him dropped the gun and slowly brought a hand to his chest your breath is forced to a sigh of relief before returning to usual. He collapses and so does Arthur, presumably in relief, when he turns his head, as do you (almost in sync) to see Kieran holding John's revolver with a trembling grip.
Kieran: "you okay?!"
Arthur: "yes, thank you"
He responds in defeat. You speed walk over to the scene and automatically extend an arm to help up Arthur. Once on his feet there's not a second before your revolver is pointed into the cabin.
You: "Colm O'Driscoll!"
You exclaim, rapidly scanning the cabin with your gun pointed to find an empty room. You drop your arm to your side in defeat and stare back at Arthur with a pissed expression.
Arthur: "you set us up!"
He yells, pacing toward Kieran, you sigh. Crouching down to rest your elbows on your knees and drop your head in your hands.
Kieran: "no-no I didn't!"
Arthur: "yes you did! Colm O'Driscoll ain't here!"
He exclaims, poking his pointer into his chest in a jab.
Kieran: "no he was here! He was here I swear!"
He almost cries, raw distress in his voice
Kieran: "if I was settin' you up why would I save you?!"
Bill: "he's got a point Arthur"
He chips in as him and John emerge beside Arthur
Arthur: "fine, get outta' here"
He grumbles. You spring your head back up to watch this unfold as the situation finally caught your interest. Arthur grabs ahold of Kieran's upper arm but finally not to drag him somewhere but rather throw him forward away from the group.
Arthur: "I'm lettin' you get away, now get lost!"
You: "hold on-"
You try to pipe up but, much to your suprise, Kieran makes a much better point in his defense than you'd ever.
Kieran: "throwin' me out is as good as killin' me! Out there?! Colm is gonna lose his mind over this!"
He yells in the face of three men much bigger and much stronger than him, you almost felt proud of the man who had kept a scared kitten sort of front all the way up until now.
Kieran: "as the lady said, I'm one of you now whether you like it or not!"
Arthur: "fine. Let's get back to camp"
He walks forward and the others follow
You: "Kieran's coming with me, I still need to go get herbs for my horse"
You add and grab (absentmindedly) harshly ahold of Kieran's shoulder.
Kieran: "you got the money then?"
Arthur: "what money?"
Kieran: "Colm usually stores some money in the cabin. In the fireplace!"
He exclaims excitedly, pulling from your grip back toward the cabin before being reasonably shut down by Arthur.
Arthur: "I'll get it. Bill, tell Dutch, Kieran ain't worth killin'... yet"
Bill: "you got that right"
He chuckles back as their voices become farther and soon hooves can be heard pushing into the dirt.
You: "right"
You peer down at your watch
You: "we've still got an alright amount of day left. Let's go back down to Valentine"
You say and begin to walk off, Kieran once again having to quickly hop forward to catch up.
Kieran: "oh, uh, they won't sell the herbs Puncher needs in general stores miss"
You abruptly turn to face him
You: "don't you remember my name?"
Kieran: "no I do, I mean, I've heard it. People calling you and stuff. It's y/n isn't it?"
You: "that's right"
You smirk and let out a small huff at his ever-nervous manor
Kieran: "just, miss and ma'am is polite and all"
You turn your back and carry on walking
You: "whatever you say, sir, but I find calling someone by their name to be polite"
Kieran: "then I will... y/n... b-but like I said-"
You: "we ain't goin' to the general store, I've got enough money on me right now so (you sigh) we're gonna go buy yourself a horse"
Kieran: "a horse! Really?! Your pulling my leg miss- I mean y/n"
Pure excitement in his words
You: "no, I ain't, but my horse went and pulled his leg if you know what I mean"
You laugh to yourself
You: "and we ain't gonna get far without a horse carrying the load of supplies we're bringin' back. Which we can also pick up in Valentine"
Kieran: "I don't know what to say!"
You: "as little as possible would be preferable"
You pick up the pace
You: "your god damn lucky day, huh"
You grumble under your breath. A giddy Kieran following close behind you - visibly resisting expressing his excitement through blabbering by holding his lips painfully tight.

"THE BARON HAS DENIED THAT VENOM HAD ANY INFLUENCE ON THEM WHATSOEVER..."
PIC(S) INFO: Spotlight on Rob "The Baron" Miller, vocalist/bassist/co-founder of the almighty AMEBIX, caught red-handed with VENOM's “Die Hard” (1983) 7" single when he's numerously stated that VENOM didn’t influence Amebix's sound.
OVERVIEW: "Considered the “Godfathers of Crust Punk” Amebix mixed KILLING JOKE post-punk, with BLACK SABBATH Sludge, MOTÖRHEAD Speed and First Wave of Black Metal nastiness. AMEBIX, especially on their best album “Monolith”, sounds like VENOM with slower tempos, Rob "The Baron" Miller, the lead singer sounds very close to Cronos’ “gargle with acid and razor blades” vocal style, their sound is down, dirty, but sludgy, slow and eerie. They didn’t sing about the Devil at all but their lyrics were more occult and anarcho politics. They also set themselves apart from the other punks by dressing in black and carrying around books by Aleister Crowley. The Baron has denied that VENOM had any influence on them whatsoever, another band disavowing or being embarrassed by VENOM. Sorry, Rob, all one needs to do is listen to your music and look at this picture to show that you're full of shit."

3/28/2023 - 4/3/2023: Girls by aespa
Tumblr media
Multi-dimensional. Artificial intelligence. "Girls" describes the battle between aespa and The Black Mamba.
aespa is a 4-member girl group under SM Entertainment who debuted on November 17, 2020. The group has an AI concept, with each member having a technological superpower and an AI version of themselves, known as "ae". What makes aespa stand out from other groups is how dedicated they are to the concept, both in visuals and in lyrical choices.
The group is known for their visuals (their physical appearances), as the public believes they look like CGI. Several members have also been considered "clones" of other SM Entertainment idols, with Winter and Karina sharing a resemblance to Taeyeon (SNSD, soloist, GOT the beat), and Giselle to Krystal of f(x).
"Girls" is the battle between the ae and the Black Mamba, as the protect the fictional land of Kwangya. It is loud, EDM and guitar-heavy, and colorful. Compared to other 4th gen girl groups, aespa keeps choreography less complicated, but with shocking details. The focus is meant to be on the vocals and visuals.
aespa videos and narratives also feature a being known as "naevis", who seems to be the messenger between the Real World and Kwangya. She also allows aespa to become the ae.
MEMBERS / Positions (oldest to youngest) / ae: powers
Karina (Yu Ji Min) - Leader, Main Dancer, Rapper, Vocalist, Visual, Face of the Group, Center - ae-Karina: Rocket Puncher
Giselle (Uchinaga Aeri) - Main Rapper, Vocalist - ae-Giselle: Xenoglossy
Winter (Kim Minjeong) - Vocalist, Dancer, Visual - ae-Winter: Armamenter
Ning Ning (Ning Yizhou) - Main Vocalist, Makenae - ae-ED Hacker

No!
I saw on my phone from blogTO that teachers from a certain school walked out regardless if it affects the students’ future academics. And I read the whole article what made them do this. Spending my childhood in The Philippines, there was always that talk of who’s the toughest, who’s the best puncher, “Can you beat this guy?”  Normal things boys go through. When I came here to Canada, it was more violent, and during my time in the 90's it was more controlled in terms of being arrested by a policeman. But the case with this generation is that everyone’s a gangster.  And I think teachers walked out, because the hallways were going to be harmful. Am one of those people who watched Carlito’s Way, am one of those people who studied the career of Al Pacino.  And Al Pacino did Scarface, a film from the 80's, and Montana his character was fiction. The problem now is that the story of the movie is no longer “fiction”, quote-unquote.  And this is very common with the hip hop culture, which is by the way very popular, but it’s a lifestyle of wealth, doing cocaine, and murder. I even learned everntually that the feds are arresting these rappers based on what they say on their song lyrically, and this happened to Young Thug. It’s sad that Toronto is becoming a ghetto, just a few years back when The Raptors won the NBA title, everyone was saying that Toronto was the best city in the world, “Regardless where I’ve been to.” And it’s just horrific how it would deteriorate in a short time. People deny this, but I thought the pandemic really did do damage.  I think the city was so unprepared for such problem, and the global medic with W.H.O. didn’t really know the status of Ontario, Canada. And it was the global protocal that really gave people problems. Prior to reading the teacher-student situation, I read that many people are leaving the province Ontario, and off to provinces like Alberta. So I think it’s going to be a slow recovery, I do feel that Doug Ford is a good Premier, and am hoping that he can solve these problems. Again, the gangsterism is what’s hurting the set of cities.

Cinos chaos control 2
Tumblr media
Pretty much like Cinos having a Masked Phantom and Puncher having an Elemental Wolf, Yui has a Double-Blade Warrior spirit named Ashura. but it changed after I realized it was Shadow backwards like Cinos. You know that she is the sister of phantom spirit Cyanide 'Cinos' Hedgehog and wolf spirit Thundertonian 'Puncher' Hedgehog. Also, Ken can use Chaos Control to increase the damage he deals to his opponent when. What have I become? My sweetest friend Everyone I know, goes away, in the end And you could have it all, my empire of dirt I will let you down I will make you hurt I feel weak, but I've had time to think Flesh chilled, wounds healed, but I can barely speak I'm lookin' at the peak, and can't ignore it The absolutely aborted I frequently talk to Horus I wonder, if he can talk to snakes, like I can I wonder if he can change love to hate, like I can I wonder if he can move a generation, like I can I wonder if he can force concentration, like I can I wonder if he has knowledge of all things biotic Through speech that's super-sonic Through methods that are chaotic I wonder, is this his plan? I promise, I'm gonna listen I do this because I can, for all of the fallen children For millions, in the light who are hearin' this I'll unite every spike of a pyramid To skip crawlin', and start walkin' Born CinoS I'm done talkin'. Successfully expanded Purchase Ledger Controller role, to allow more control within all Accounts Payable processes. Fallen Child Zone Lyrics: I am God.spoken good / We've lost it all, the love is gone / She has won, now it's no fun / We've lost it all, the love is gone. Donovan 'Yui' Hedgehog is an angel warrior/hedgehog hybrid. necessarily evil, but because Chaos energy is contained by the emeralds. Among those who gave their stamp of approval after just an hour of the 80-page bill being released were senators Lindsey Graham, Mitt Romney, Mike Caputo, and John Cornyn, with the latter being the lead negotiator on the. This feels like the worst dream I ever lived The love was counterfeit chains around my wrist Women screamin' through the mist, but the plot has a twist Cause me and my past memories cannot co-exist They control me while I feed, hit me while I plead "Let me the fuck out!" "Child, go back to sleep" I can't take this dream I'm broken and defeated While they play these visuals of how my true love cheated They take me to ninety-nine through the sounds of the cantor They show my best friend, and how she truly died of cancer I didn't have the answer I wish I could of saved her If she was truly someone special, and God is who made her Then why did He let her pass? Why'd He let her go? This world is a facade this life is just a show Impossible is truth everything's a lie I can't take the pain, please just let me die. Were even treated to Cinos, aka Evil Sonic, and it seems as if its going to. On Tuesday evening, the text of the new Senate gun control bill was released, with it being advanced by 14 Republican votes.

Lilia 3
Summary: From one vastly older immortal to a younger one, as they try and remember a far off lullaby through a music box.
(More eldritch prefect au! Just more lore for the audience! Tis a very somber mood, angsty probably. I never did make the Eldritch Prefect’s age clear did I? Well, here ya go!)
Tumblr media
If asked, Lilia would not be able to tell anyone what compelled him to visit Ramshackle, especially at this time of night when the moon is so luminous it reflects sharply on pale concrete.
Was it a whim? A tickling sense of wrongness that motivated him to move? No, none of those. But either way, he was here, and you were sitting by candle light in your room, the sound of clicking sounding through the window’s glass.
He didn’t even need to tap. Your instincts were sharp enough to unlock and push the window open to let him rest on its sill, ignoring the paper strips that were knocked off the table by the breeze.
Oh, there was a music box by your elbow.
“Did you get lonely or something, Lilia?” You still didn’t look at him, focusing only on the paper strip in your hand. You punched another hole in it.
“I’m just entertaining my curiosity. One can’t help but wonder how long the walls of this dorm will continue to hold steady.” A flippant excuse even to his own ears. But in truth, he didn’t have an answer. He just simply wanted to be here.
“I see.” And yet you didn’t press further, though not out of the goodness of your heart. You didn’t want to pry, to speak or entertain, and yet you opened your window for him anyway.
Something was tormenting you.
“The paper strip,” Lilia laid his head on the window sill, “what song are putting on it?”
You punched in the last hole, setting the puncher aside before holding it up to the moon shining outside. “An old lullaby. One I used to sing a long while back.”
“Sing for who?”
You slotted the paper in the music box, “For myself, for my parents, for Yuuken, but mostly for little Yuuya, way back when.”
Oh, Yuuya? That’s a new name.
“Little? A sibling, I take it?”
You shrugged. “A sibling, a son. I watched him grow up, watched him fall asleep when I sang him good night.”
Lilia knows the joys of raising someone with a gentle hand, but he knows you’re no adult. A sibling and a son alike. Were you even allowed to be a kid yourself? But it seemed you still hold those memories precious, doing away with any built up resentment. Or rather, were you burying them as one would a body?
Well, Lilia wouldn’t know. You were always rather tight lipped about your burdens, creating this image of a near indestructible fighter in a world where monsters seek to make it its feast.
“A lullaby? Well then, what were the lines? I know a number of lullabies from Brair Valley, so how about a little exchange?” Entertain this old man, melodies from another place entirely would be something nice to add to his memories.
“Lilia, it’s been a long while.” There’s a certain tiredness to one’s tone that can only be replicated by long lived beings. There was no frustration or raw mourning. And yet it was nostalgic all the same to him.
Lilia tone his voice down, made it softer, like when he would talk to Silver as he helped him through his nightmares. “How much would you measure that?”
“I wouldn’t know,” you smiled “Yuuya hadn’t needed the song for a while now. Hadn’t needed my voice.” You messed around with the dial, trying to find the perfect speed.
Just another memory left behind, then. And all you can do to cling to it was to punch holes in the music box paper strip. With all those discard strips on the floor, he can only guess how faded that memory was. Are these your human limitations?
“I’m hoping that if I play the melody, I’ll remember the lyrics.” And here is where Lilia knows you were still young, younger than him by who knows how many years. You were tired, but you were still mourning. The wounds were still fresh, not raw, but fresh. They haven’t scarred over yet. Beings with a lifespan that surpass even mountains always mourn the longest. Always stubbornly try and salvage their memories from the hands of time.
At least for the first few hundred years. But somehow, Lilia had a feeling you weren’t even one hundred yet. He supposed that’s natural. Your world wouldn’t allow the ageless to take their time.

gonna do another set of eren ones cause hes on the brain rip (modern!au bc canon is too much pain to think of)
RANDOM HEADCANONS
— he does, the hair mustache thing, where you like, take a strand of hair and like lay it across your upper lip, like way too often and during the most inappropriate times (most recent time: carla yelling at him for nearly getting into his third car crash)
— he’s not a wall puncher, he’s the kid that threw pencils in the ceiling
— eren and jean bond by watching love island (uk, because its the most valid one). its their little secret, but they slipped up when Eren yelled “QUIT MUGGING ME OFF MATE,” when jean beat him (fairly) in foosball
— he likes to texts you lyrics that remind him of you and pass them off as original thoughts, and if you catch them he like michael scotts it like:
“Can I get a kiss? And can you make it last forever? — tyler the creator” — eren jaeger

Helloo friend!! I was wondering do you have any song recs that made you cry or come close to tears whether because of the lyrics or melody or something else?? Bonus points if it's platonic 👀🥰
helllloo, ann! funny you ask, because why yes, i do have some songs that make me cry / come close to tears because of the lyrics / melody! so a brief list of some songs that have been really hitting hard for some reason:
we made it. by david hugo:
tbh this could be romantic or platonic or like? also in some interpretations, i can almost see this as a letter to oneself. but anyways, the refrain just makes me happy / gives me coming-of-age movie vibes, and just....god, the lyrics “you thought that you’d never be enough / thank god that he didn’t take you / it’s hard, but each breath’s a breakthrough” just makes me :’)) (and then “time heals if you let it / feel pain and then forget it / it’ll get easier”....no shut up i’ve been crying about this song for the last few weeks now.)
my play by ajr:
i’ve been listening to this song......a lot these days for.....a fic i’m writing, but anyways, it’s just one of those songs where you’re like “huh this is odd, how specific to sing about putting on a play for your parents when you’re a kid” to “oh god oh no i’m crying oh no”. it’s such a gut-wrencher, and i think ajr just went super raw with this song? you realize quickly that this song is mostly about divorce and also like. this desperate feeling of just. wanting your life to be the same and also not being too trusting of love because “if love dies, why do we fucking bother?”, and all of it just......stems from everything’s complicated and love is complicated and from a child’s point of view, you just. want your parents to be together. my own parents aren’t divorced, but i think this song can really, really speak to anyone who has ever felt desperate in trying to hold people together / being scared of love / etc. it’s just. god. such a gut-puncher.
find something good in iowa to believe in by anton sanko [from the half of it movie soundtrack]:
this piece doesn’t have any lyrics--it’s just instrumental, but i feel both so full and so empty whenever i’m listening to it, if that makes sense? maybe because i’m just thinking of the movie and the scene that plays with this piece. it’s just a lovely piece in general. really gentle. will remind you of new beginnings and the autumn wind and leaving your hometown for a new chapter.
sparkle by radwimp [from your name movie soundtrack]: so this song is mostly just piano, but also japanese lyrics. now, i don’t know japanese, but i watched this movie, and it’s beautiful, but also? also i just love this piece because i actually heard it before watching the movie. the movie’s rather romantic, but like. anyways. the melody alone will fill you with hope and just. :’))) it’s nine minutes long, but it’s a wonderful nine minutes.
this is kind of a wild card, but the second star to the right by jonatha brooke [from peter pan: return to neverland movie soundtrack]: has been a song that i’ve been listening to a bit. lol so when i was little, i actually watched the second peter pan movie before the first one, so that’s probably why this movie is closer to my heart, and like. this song just. is very nostalgic, but i think more than that, i think it just. makes me come super close to tears because the whole premise of this movie is about a girl who’s trying to grow up really fast, but like. you know. she’s still a kid, and stories about fairies shouldn’t be something she feels like she needs to leave behind. lol i wonder why this song hits so hard! :D
remember your smile by haze moon: haha. ha. you want to cry? this song will make you cry because there’s literally someone crying in this song. tbh, this could kind of be seen as a romantic or platonic song, because it’s just. it’s just about missing someone a lot. also, the sound of rain plays over this song, so it’s like. one of those songs that you listen to while curled up in bed at 2 am because suddenly you really miss someone you hadn’t thought about in a while.
sky in the sea by haze moon, isowys: bro. i’ve been thinking about this song a lot lately. it’s mostly just about like. getting better and healing after something that really hurt you and it’s just. bro. you know that scene in any book / movie / tv show where the protagonist slowly gets up from the floor / the ground, and they’ve been beaten over and over and over again and they might be exhausted and tired, but like. they still get up? and they look at their antagonist / villain and the music swells because look at the beauty in standing up and marching forward and refusing to kneel over again? bro. this is the song that i think you’d want playing in the background as a character marches forward just because there’s this rhythm to this song that both makes you feel here and not, and it’s so beautiful.
anyways lol sorry for the long list, but....yes, as you can tell........there are many songs. that have been making me almost cry / actually cry because they’re so. good.

Album & EP Recommendations
Boy From Michigan by John Grant
For whatever reason, I have often struggled to really connect with the music of American singer-songwriter John Grant – undoubtedly impressive but not quite resonated with me. However, that has changed with his latest release Boy From Michigan, an album produced by the wonderful Cate Le Bon that is both sonically dazzling and lyrically introspective.
Against a backdrop of synths that range from the atmospheric and spacey (the incredible title track) to the playfully upbeat (Rhetorical Figure) through to the acid-soaked nightmare (Your Portfolio), John takes the listener on a deep dive into the hypnotic vortex of his mind. There he jumps between the personal and the political, recalling an anxious upbringing driven from his struggles with sexuality one minute, before launching an attack on Trump America the next (the glorious neon-soaked 10-minute tirade that is The Only Baby).
However, amidst all the sharp lyrics and 80s synth-pop aesthetics, it is arguably the album’s most traditional moment that strikes the biggest chord. The Cruise Room is a gorgeous, heartfelt piano ballad, featuring minimal production and some strategically placed vocoder effects to help John’s haunting words to just ripple through to your core. It is incredibly stirring and probably one of the finest songs I have heard all year.
From start to finish this really does feel like a special album, one that I have already played several times this week and no doubt will return to over the next few months. If you want an album that is both melodically satisfying but also has worthwhile stories to tell, this is the one.
Call Me If You Get Lost by Tyler, The Creator
American rapper Tyler, The Creator was another artist I really struggled to get into early on, but off the back of his coming-of-age masterpiece Flower Boy and the sonic experimentation of 2019’s Igor, I was anxious to hear what Tyler had cooked up for this surprise release.
On Call Me If You Get Lost, it really feels like Tyler has hit his stride as an artist – Flower Boy was him finding his voice, Igor was him finding his sound and now it has all masterfully come together on this latest project. Not only is Tyler in razor-sharp lyrical form but he is also mostly handling production duties himself, aside from small credits to Jamie XX and Jay Versace.
With guest appearances from Ty Dolla $ign, Lil Wayne and Pharrell Williams amongst others, this feels like Tyler’s most significant body of work to date, propelled by career-best tracks like Corso, Lemonhead, Lumberjack and Wilshire. Simply put, this is one exquisitely crafted hip hop record.
Home Video by Lucy Dacus
At the other end of the spectrum, American singer-songwriter Lucy Dacus released her third album this week, looking to follow in the footsteps of her boygenius bandmates Phoebe Bridgers and Julien Baker, who have both themselves delivered career-best albums over the last 12 months.
As the title is there to suggest, this is Lucy looking back at key moments in her life, both the sentimental and the heartbreaking. In her vivid descriptions of these snapshots, she really shines as a songwriter, transporting the listener to these life-defining fragments of memory.
Thematically it is quite similar in a way to John Grant’s record this week, however where he fills the space with lush, maximal production, Lucy’s approach is more subtle and tender. From the wonderful opening beat of Hot & Heavy, the fuzzy riffs of First Time, the soft plucking of the gorgeous Cartwheel and the climatic, grand finale of Triple Dog Dare, Lucy delivers on every single track here. Possibly none more so than on single Thumbs, an incredibly haunting track where Lucy painfully describes every thought and feeling running through her mind as she meets her birth father at a restaurant. It is a real gut-puncher, and another one of the best songs I’ve heard all year.
Just like her bandmates, Lucy continues to flourish as a solo artist, presenting here an audio photo album that will frequently make you laugh and cry, and then at times both of those at the same time.
Together In Static by Daniel Avery
Also worth checking out this week, if 2020’s Love + Light was the party then this latest release from electronic musician Daniel Avery is the quiet comedown, with Avery crafting some really soothing and intricate ambient soundscapes. Quite blissful!
Nine by Sault
Coming off the back of their two highly acclaimed 2020 albums Untitled (Rise) and Untitled (Black Is), rhythm and blues collective Sault deliver another radiant and thought-provoking listen with this latest release, with Little Simz even turning up for one of the record’s many highlights, You From London.
Soft Thing by LOONY
On the EPs front this week, Toronto-based singer-songwriter LOONY is back with a scintillating eight track release, that really highlights how she is maturing as an artist. Packed with pop, R&B and soul elements, it is highlighted by mine, her brilliant collaboration with New Orleans-based rapper Pell, as well as great tracks like ours and beg.
Our Extended Play by Beabadoobee
Following on from her incredible debut Fake It Flowers released last year, Beabadoobee is back with four more excellent, nostalgia-tinged tracks built on hazy guitars and soaring pop-punk choruses. Headlined by recent singles, Last Day On Earth and Cologne.
Tracks of the Week
Latter Days by Big Red Machine featuring Anaïs Mitchell
Aaron Dessner and Justin Vernon marked their return as Big Red Machine this week, announcing a new album due in August featuring an array of enticing guest stars including Ben Howard, Taylor Swift and Fleet Foxes. They also delivered the first two tracks from the record, the best of which this beautiful collaboration with American singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell that will open the record. Stunning!
Sad But True by St. Vincent
Last week it was Miley and her famous friends tackling the Metallica classic Nothing Else Matters in truly epic style, now this week brings us St. Vincent and her guitar prowess delivering a mesmerising synth-pop take of Sad But True. Colossal!
Dying in Heaven by Alexis Taylor
Hot Chip frontman Alexis Taylor tackles spirituality on this captivating lead single from his forthcoming solo album. Featuring a suitably floaty, almost angelic melody, it is a song that already feels like it has a real timelessness to it.
Contact High by We Are Scientists
And finally this week, New York rockers We Are Scientists released the first taste of their next album, this riff-tastic, soaring indie anthem that comes equipped as always with a suitably quirky video – dig it out if you get chance.
