Don't know why I watch when I know the endin' Wanna skip right to the part it doesn't hurt Thinkin' that night, boardin' that flight With a bruised up heart and a carry-on bag A long-lost love that I'll never get back, wanna get it back
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Maybe next time I'll be enough You'll give me everythin' instead of givin' up Maybe next time won't be a waste You'll be the one and not the onе that got away So, I count down the days 'til I won't have to say
Maybe next time - Jamie Miller
-------
Tell me this isn't Rui singing about leaving Makino, taking that flight, missing his one-chance in a lifetime with her, and never getting it back no matter how much he loved her IN EVERY NEXT TIME.
This song is the tragedy of how fate was never in his favor no matter how many "next time"s he wishes and gets. It's his song about her, and no one should tell me otherwise.

Requested by @llotuspetals: Hey it's me again haha, so I was wondering if you could write another huaze lei ff. Off if you're getting tired of writing them you don't have to! But if you could, can you write a fic where reader is new to the school and because of some drama they get challenged with the joker card. And during the challenge huaze lei falls for the reader and gets teased by his group while we get some more interactions? Thanks
Pairing: Huaze Lei x reader
Word Count: 2.5k words
Warnings: bullying, joker card
Tumblr media
It had only been a week that you were at this school, but you knew the card in your locker all too well. The red joker card was something that haunted you the second that you heard of it, afraid of the consequences that you surely would never get. Yet here you were, staring straight at the card as if it were mocking you. You didn't even know why, you don't remember ever doing something to annoy the F4 students. You hadn't even met any of them as far as you were aware, but you may have called them stupid rich boys once to your friend...
Realization struck you, your stomach turning uncomfortably as you realized that she probably ratted you out. Whispers started around you, making you realize that everyone now had their eyes on you. You could hear them loud and clear, some saying that you were now a clear target for their desires and you felt like you needed to throw up.
Slamming your locker shut, you quickly pushed your way through the crowd and ignored all the snickering. Your eyes went forward, immediatley setting on the four men. One looked proud, one looked annoyed and the other two looked emotionless like they didn't care. They probably didn't, you had heard that Daoming-Si was the one in charge of the joker card while the other three just followed.
While you stared at the four, you didn't notice the person sneaking up on you nor did you notice as the cold liquid poured over you. When you did, you only gasped at the sensation before turning your head to see two girls. They didn't even look at you, instead they were staring at the F4 boys and you could only curse softly.
"Oops." One of the girls said and you gave her a soft glare, which the other one didn't permit. She grabbed your face with her hand, her grip painful as he nails dug in your skin and then she slapped you.
"Targets don't fight back." She said before they walked off and you only sighed again, getting up before wiping the liquid away from your eyes. You didn't know what it was, but it stank and you didn't want to risk an eye infection. You turned your head back to the four boys before walking past them, stopping once you stood close enough.
"Is it fun?" You asked and Daoming-Si turned his head, smirking as he nodded and you only scoffed at him.
"I don't regret what I said and I won't. You're only proving my claim to be true. All four of you are pathetic." You said before storming off to the bathroom. You needed to get this stuff off of you and you carried an extra shirt in your bag, so you could change.
Tumblr media
One week in and you had seen bullying methods that you had never seen before. Feathers in your locker, thumb tacks on your seat, people cutting open your school bag and some even stole your books. Your phone had cracks on it from being thrown, your computer had some scratches from being dropped when you were pushed over and people had even stolen your clothes when you were changing from having food or drinks poured on you. You got sick of it, but you weren't giving up. You worked too hard to get here and some childish bullies weren't going to change that. So you kept quiet and continued everything, not knowing that you were being watched by Huaze Lei.
Granted, Huaze Lei didn't stop Daoming-Si when he placed the card in your locker, but he still didn't agree. What you said wasn't that bad, especially since you didn't know them at all. But he watched as you ignored every taunt, fought back against the bullies who took advantage of the Joker card to bully others and he watched as you never even cried for any of it. He had to give it to you, you were tough.
The challenge was only two days from now and Huaze Lei wondered how you would do. Would you win or loose, that was a good question that he wanted to know the answer to.
Tumblr media
The room was silent, you all sat at the table except for Ximen. He stood up beside Daoming-Si.
"You don't play bridge, do you?" Mei-Zou was first to speak up and you shook your head.
"Not my game unfortunately. I always come second." You answered, an answer that seemed to surprise them, but you paid no mind to them as you grabbed the stack of cards in the middle. Flipping through them, you picked out a queen of hearts and put it in front of you without letting them see it. The other cards went back to the middle, but you left the half separated from each other so that the card above and below your card could be seen if flipped.
"Guess the card suit?" You asked and the four of them glanced at each other before looking back at you, asking how many guesses they got. You just held up a single finger at him, which seemed to annoy them slightly. Mei-Zou was the only one who looked confident, leaning forward on his elbows.
"I get to ask one question and you answer honestly." He said and you shrugged, leaning back before tapping the card again.
"Where did you pick it from the deck?" "It was the 31st card." You answered, eyes connecting to Mei-Zou's as he showed a soft smile.
"That would be a ten of diamonds." He answered, making you frown slightly at his confidence in number and suit. Nonetheless, he was wrong about it. You took the larger half of the deck in the middle, flipping it to see the card that was below yours. An eleven of hearts. Mei-Zou didn't seem to react to it, like he expected it. Then you flipped the other half, revealing that the ten of diamonds was in fact the card above yours. Mei-Zou's face fell, his eyes widening out of shock as he tried to process it.
"You can count all cards, but mistakes are inevitable." You said, flipping your card around to reveal the queen of hearts and that seemed to make it clear to them. You only smiled at the rage that was clear on Daoming-Si's face before getting up from the table. Huaze Lei got up as well, holding out his hand to you.
"Congratulation on your win." He said and you smiled, taking his hand with a smile before turning to the other three.
"See. Not that difficult to be nice, is it? You could learn from him." You said before walking out of the room with a smile on your face. The doors opened and the crowd stood there, all waiting for a hint. Some seemed to believe that you lost, but others looked a bit hopeful that someone finally won. Your smile probably said enough for some, but when Daoming-Si came out and stormed out angrily people got the hint.
"You know, we're all pretty nice. Want to find out how nice we are?" Ximen's voice rang out from behind you, making you scoff loudly.
"Do you know how creepy that sounds?" You asked and he shrugged, saying that it usually worked with others and you shook your head at him.
"Do you want some coffee, perhaps?" Huaze Lei then asked and you nodded at him with a smile, only making Huaze Lei smile at Ximen teasingly. You rolled your eyes at the antics of them and started walking off, but the three followed nonetheless.
"Shouldn't you go to Daoming-Si and stroke his ego some more?" You asked, making Huaze Lei and Mei-Zou burst out in laughter. It earned you some looks, but you ignored them as you walked down the stairs and to the café near school.
Entering, all eyes turned to you as you sat down with the two boys while Huaze Lei stood up to get your orders. You told him your favorite drink and Ximen and Mei-Zou were quick to also say theirs, both smiling at Huaze Lei innocently. He just rolled his eyes before walking to the counter, returning minutes later with four drinks.
"Thank you." You gave him another smile before drinking from the drink while looking at the boys again. Mei-Zou still looked bummed out, staring at his hands awkwardly and you softly sighed.
"If it makes you feel better, I might have just messed up in my counting." You said and Mei-Zou's head shot up, staring at you before shaking his head softly.
"I could've been wrong too." "Nah, you can remember all cards in a shuffled deck. Honestly, it was impressive that you could guess the card above mine." You said and a shy smile appeared on his face, looking at his drink with a soft thank you spilling from his lips.
"No comment about us?" Ximen spoke up once more and you looked at him, holding back from rolling your eyes at him.
"I'm sure you make excellent tea. Unfortunately for you, I don't drink tea much." You replied, making Ximen sigh loudly again at his failed attempt. A cough came from beside you and you looked at Huaze Lei before sighing again.
"You're very handsome and your violin playing is immensely good." You said, which seemed to please the man as he leaned back in his seat with a smile. You only rolled your eyes at the antics.
The bell above the door rang, Daoming-Si marching in and quickly found the four of you. A glare was thrown your way before his rant started, asking why they were here with you. Huaze Lei was the first to interrupt him, pulling him to sit down after moving a bit closer to you. Daoming-Si complained a bit more, but eventually shut up.
The rest of the conversation was a it more awkward.
Tumblr media
"No, no, no! We have to go there! It's good and cheap, perfect combination!" You exclaimed as you looked up to Huaze Lei from his lap, the man only smiling down at you as he let go off your hair. You didn't really know how you ended up here, ever so cozy with Huaze Lei. It had been a couple of weeks since the challenge and Huaze Lei kept approaching you, asking you to hang out or get some coffee. You usually accepted, after all he was a genuinely nice person and a good friend. This day was no less, sitting on the roof as you both waited for your classes to start and killing time with conversations.
"Alright, after school we can go." Huaze Lei said and you smiled, getting up quickly and holding out your hand for him with your pinky stretched out.
"Promise?" You asked and Huaze Lei nodded, intertwining his pinky with yours before softly kissing it. You rolled your eyes before getting up from the seat completely and slinging your bag on your shoulder. You quickly said your goodbye, ruffling his hair before rushing down the stairs for your class. Huaze Lei remained on the roof, still smiling slightly before grabbing his bag as well. Going down, he made his way to the exit of the building. He spotted Mei-Zou from a distance and gave a nod to his friend.
"Lei? I thought you didn't have any lessons today?" Mei-Zou stated and Huaze Lei just gave a smile before continuing his way to the exit. Mei-Zou only shook his head at his friends antics before making his way to his own classes.
Tumblr media
Girls were staring, it was obvious at this point. You were sitting opposite of Huaze Lei, eating peacefully as you tried to ignore all the girls, and even some men, that stared at the both of you. All though, none of the stares were directed at you and rather at Huaze Lei. The stares that were in your direction were mostly of disbelief or something along those lines, whispers loud enough to be heard. One girl seemed to gather her courage, getting closer to your table and leaning down to Huaze Lei. He glanced her way, giving a polite smile which seemed to give the girl some more courage.
"Could I have your number?" She asked, leaning down a bit more and almost blocking your view to Huaze Lei, but you ignored it as you looked at your food. Your hand was on the table, fingers mindlessly tapping the table as you waited for her to finish or for Huaze Lei to give her what she wanted. Thoughts swarmed around in your head, but those soon disappeared when your hand was grabbed and lifted from the table.
"I'm here with my lover." Huaze Lei said, showing your now intertwined hands and the girl looked at you. It was clear that she thought of herself above you, but she didn't show it as she gave a forced smile before backing off. You took the chance to look back at the man in front of you again, a bit shocked as you realized that he wasn't going to let go of your hand.
"Lover?" You whispered and Huaze Lei only smiled before focusing on his food again, his other hand still holding yours tightly. His smile remained on his face, making you question why he was smiling to begin with.
"Do you like that thought so much?" You asked, making Huaze Lei look up again and make eye contact with you again. His smile dropped slightly before he seemingly decided on an answer that was good enough.
"Yes, I do actually." He replied and you stared at him for a couple of seconds before realizing what he said, grip on his hand tightening slightly of shock. You didn't know what to say, only awkwardly picking at your food until you finally finished everything.
The bill was paid and you were soon outside, shivering at the cold wind that blew past you. The walk to your dorm house wasn't long, but Huaze Lei's actions made it feel like an eternity. He'd push you to the side of the houses when you walked near a street, his jacket had been draped over your shoulders and he was kind enough to let you with your thoughts. It wasn't until you reached your dorm house that he spoke up, telling you to get some rest.
"I feel the same." You stated suddenly, your mouth faster than your thoughts as you tried to keep calm. It seemed enough for him, his smile brightening and you were unable to hide your own.
"Then I can take you on a date maybe? Like tomorrow?" He asked and you smiled at him again, stepping down two steps of the stairs before softly kissing his cheek. Then you returned his jacket, stepping up the stairs and opening the door. You gave a final smile to him before speaking up again.
"You could." Then you closed the door after a short wink, smiling all the way back to your dorm.
Huaze Lei didn't stop smiling until the next day.

METEOR GARDEN (2018, CHINESE ADAPTATION)
As fans of this series know after Mrs. Daoming chased off Shancai with the threat of going after Shancai's (SHEN YUE) friends and their families.
Shancai joined her parents in the fishing village where they lived (remember Meteor Garden is the only version in which the female lead did not have a kid brother)
Hauze Lei (DARREN CHEN) found her and brought her home.
Later Hauze Lei told Daoming Si he planned on pursuing Shancai since she and Si broke up. Si pretended it didn't matter and later got drunken crying in front of Meizuo and Ximen.
However later Daoming Si (DYLAN WANG) decided he couldn't live without Shancai and told Lei.
A scheming Lei says to let Shancai decide. Then Lei called Shancai and requested she turn off her phone for 48 hours and stay with her best friend. She reluctantly agreed. During this time Si searched high and low for Shancai to no avail.
When he did find Shancai she was with Lei walking on the street, Si confessed he could not live without her. Shancai makes her choice and boards a bus with Lei. Si chases after the bus until it is out of sight and he is out of breath.
He turns slowly defeated.
But then he hears Shancai calling out his name. Shancai chooses Si over Lei.
Lei later claims he did it to get Si jealous (more or less) Lei lets go of Shancai and leaves for Taiwan.
Note: Hauze Lei was a decent guy. He always stood up for Shancai when Si let her down (mainly because of his mom) even when Si abandoned Shancai when she traveled to London to find him where she was robbed. My point Lei should not have ended up alone. But that's just my opinion.

man i wish i could smoosh meteor garden (2018) and boys over flowers (2009 korean ver) together bc there are things I really like and things i dislike abt both adaptations though part of that is that i really don’t like how much of a jackass daoming si/goo junpyo is initially and find it hard to forgive though both dylan wang and lee minho do great at being somehow still loveable
like i vastly prefer meteor garden’s lei over whatsisface from bof but i adore kim beom’s version of sad pottery playboy and i cannot decide between daoming si and goo junpyo and i prefer meteor garden’s version of the ski resort but bof killed it with junpyo waiting in the snow and the kimchi making scene and meteor garden was wayyyy too long but I liked shancai better than jandi
at any rate it’s been a couple years since i watched either adaptation so they have become one in my mind anyway

So I just watched Meteor Garden for the first time and boy oh boy do I have some thoughts about the story as a whole but I would be lying if I said I wasn’t completely enamored with Shangcai and Si’s relationship for the last half of the story. I struggled a bit in the first half so I am shocked at where we ended up. I can’t even put it into words, I am still trying to process, but the best I got right now is that they were so comfortable with each other after a certain point in the story and every time they were given a moment of happiness together my heart actually melted, they were so cute together.
And when they were talking through the door of Si’s bedroom near the end, separated by everything and everyone in their lives down to the wooden door between them, deciding again, once and for all, that they were in this together and supporting and choosing each other no matter what? I’m sorry, I did not expect this show to actually rip my heart out and bleed it dry like I don’t even know what I am feeling just that I think I have relationship envy for the first time ever? Can you imagine the sheer devotion required to face down the entire world and every possible challenge and pain and fear and heartbreak and still be choosing your person when you’re both staring death in the face? I think I am having a crisis of the worst kind because these two kids fell in love and did it better than anyone ever has.
I’m not even interested in romance, but that kind of human connection transcends romance, it’s about knowing someone and being known without fear and I literally need to lie down

I tried watching the 2009 K-drama of Boys Over Flowers, but unfortunately by the fourth episode I decided to drop it because it just felt like a bad attempt at recreating the 2005 J-drama while also attempting and failing to create a new backstory for Tsukushi. I tried to write a post about why exactly I didn't like it, actually, but I shelved it because honestly, it was difficult to put into words why everything about it felt so wrong, but like. It did, and I dropped it
Anyway, I went on to try the other HYD adaptation on Netflix, which is the 2018 Chinese Meteor Garden. Going into it, I mostly just knew it was gonna kinda write out the bullying thing, and also that apparently Yoko Kamio really likes that version in particular anyway? So like, I didn't really know what to expect... But ngl, I was not expecting to like and respect it as much as I do
First of all!!! It is undoubtedly the adaptation with the most true-to-manga version of events, which. While I actually really enjoy the weird timeline mashup of the J-drama, after reading the manga I definitely really did wish to see a version that didn't cut out Kazuya and Kinsan, among other things, but yeah honestly I just really wanted to see these two lmao
It also??? Does a fantastic job at creating new things (they might have been in the OG Meteor Garden but I didn't watch that so,,) and adapting to the weird censorship around the instigating events of the story in a way that's genuinely so fun, while also managing to find ways to keep the characterizations of the characters that very easily could've been lost when taking out the whole malicious and violent nature of the F4. It does GREAT character work in general!! Li Zhen being a Makiko-turned-Sakurako as opposed to just erasing Makiko (which I still find hilarious considering the manga literally acknowledges that) by introducing Sakurako in her place is such a unique and fantastic solution to get around the bullying again while giving her a new, sympathetic motivation that feels much more in tune with this less extravagant (as in, making it just slightly less about the class disparity lol) version of the story, and!! As much as I love Sakurako, I feel like I appreciate Li Zhen just as much for like,, losing herself over her jealousy, and coming out of the whole ordeal as a much more confident person who's able to be a better, more proactive friend. Their motives and backgrounds are different, but the results end up roughly the same, and! I'm fine with, heck, I actually rather like Li Zhen not being the cackling narcissistic love rival (as much as that's probably like, my favorite trope), it works well for the story and she's portrayed really well by her actress!
Also, as expected, I love Qinghe, he's my boy!!! God fr I simply do not understand why Kazuya is only a part of the Meteor Garden adaptations of the story, he's so fucking great and it's heartbreaking that he got taken out of most of the adaptations when you can see how much he adds to the dynamic. Like, fr, Kazuya and Tsukasa competing over fishing is so iconic, it's such a dumb, joyous thing they do, like, peak of what "boys will be boys" should be, and!!! As expected it's SUCH a fun thing to see adapted
Kazuya being the loveable loser comic relief added so fucking much to the manga, because like, fr, both of the versions that I've seen that cut him are infinitely more depressing to watch!! He's so important to preserving the emotional balance of the story, not to mention how much better the story feels when Tsukushi DOES have an actual, genuine friend that goes to Eitoku with her. J-drama Tsukushi hangs out with Yuki and Okami A LOT to make up for the lack of any supportive people in her school life outside of F4, and without Kazuya around, ultimately, Tsukushi is definitely less close to the F4 than she is in the manga where his hijinks allow them to genuinely become friends, and the K-drama just didn't have any fun(ny) characters to replace him and it made it so difficult to watch!!! But Qinghe is such a bro, he's just as fun as I expected him to be if not *more*, and! Him being included makes such a huge positive difference
So far, the K-drama is obviously my least favorite adaptation, but I'm genuinely having trouble deciding whether I like the Japanese or Chinese one better, because both offer very different things and I actually love both!! The Japanese version is definitely like,,, the easier version for me to connect to, just because I already know the character names, and the jokes and most of the plot is consistent with the tone of the manga because it's the same setting (my very basic knowledge of Japanese definitely helps too lmao), but. The Chinese version is more fun to watch by virtue of being less depressing (fr, Kazuya makes ALL the difference), which also in a way makes it easy to get invested in it
Overall I'm actually very happy with what I've seen from Meteor Garden so far (I'm about halfway through it rn), and it's great to have another version of the story to cycle through because HYD has very quickly become one of my comfort media

F4 FEVER ✨
Tumblr media
Okay, can we all agree that our childhood is not complete if we do not have a crush on one of the F4s or if we did not watched Hana Yori Dango adaptations. Who does not imagine herself being the female lead falling for the rich, handsome, toxic male lead? Or falling for the second male lead who wears in all white or any white in it? Just kidding! But I know we all loved the series.
So before I get into my point, I would like to remind you, my dear readers, that the things I will discuss here is based on my opinions. Everything that I will be put here is based on my point of views and own understanding.
Please do not forget to give me comments and please be gentle when giving one. I would love to meet other people who has the same insterests.
So… let’s get started!
🌸 THE F4 and their story 🌸
First let us know who are the F4 and their story.
F4 or also known as the 🌸 FLOWER FOUR 🌸 is a clique of young, handsome, rich men who rules the school just because they are rich and most popular. F4 came from the manga, Hana Yori Dango (Boys Over Flowers) , which is written by a Japanese writer and illustrator, Yoko Kamio.
The story revolves around Makino Tsukushi who came from a middle class family. She studies at Eitoku Gakuen (academy) where the F4 rules. Tsukasa Domyouji, Rui Hanazawa, Sojirou Nishikado and Akira Mimisaka. All four of them are friends since Kindergarten and causes the bullying inside the school whenever someone gets in their way. They bully the students by the means of the RED CARD. When Tsukushi helped her friend from Tsukasa’s bullying, she stood up against him and kicked him, making Tsukasa interested on her because she was the only girl who stands up to them. Tsukushi fell in love with Rui while Rui is still waiting for Shizuka Todou, Rui’s first love. Then there was Tsukushi’s mom who is against their love because Tsukasa comes from a rich family and we know the rest.
No matter how long and what year, we always bing watch and rewatch the series because it gives us different kinds of story-telling which makes it interesting no matter how many adaptations we watched.
🌸 THE F4 and their adaptations 🌸
Hana Yori Dango has an anime adaptation as well as a movie which first aired in 90s. The first ever television series was aired in Taiwan on year 2001 where we met Dao Ming Xi, Huaze Lei, Xi Men, Mei Zou and of course… Shancai. Yes, METEOR GARDEN. It was released in 2001 and popularized since then.
Tumblr media
Meteor Garden Taiwan has two parts. Just so we thought Shancai and Azi have their happy ending, that is where Azi had amnesia on Season 2 and we met Princess Ye Sha and things just go crazier.
The second country to adapt it into a TV series is no other than Japan. I do not know if they really intended it then Taiwan did it first or they decided to have live-action series after the success of Meteor Garden.
Tumblr media
Hana Yori Dango was released in 2005 and yes we all loved Domyouji! *heart eyes with drools* We cannot deny how handsome and charismatic Jun Matsumoto is even when we first saw him as an Arashi singer. The series had a part 2 also which is pretty similar to the Taiwanese version. I do not know if the Japanese stick with the manga (bec I haven’t read the manga yet) but there are things that are not similar to other adaptations. There is also a Hana Yori Dango Final: The Movie with the same casts but the story revolves around the engaged life of Tsukushi and Tsukasa.
Tumblr media
In 2009, South Korea’s Kdrama was sky-rocketing when they released the TV series Boys Over Flowers, the Korean adaptation. This is where it was popularized again not just in Asia but all over the world. In this show we met Lee Min Ho and Kim Bum whom we gushed over a hundred times because why not. *raining hearts* *heart eyes* A lot of fans became nostalgic when they watched the show. It lasted for 25 episodes with super catchy OST. Almoooost paradiseeeee~
Tumblr media
After 17 years, China released their own METEOR GARDEN. It was year 2018 when Cdramas are being popular and of course they have to have a remake of Meteor Garden. *for youuuuuuu ooohhh ooohhh~* We cannot deny the love we had for the new casts especially to Dylan Wang, Darren Chen and Shen Yue.
Tumblr media
The lastest adaptation that we loved and one of the most awaited adaptations is the F4 Thailand on 2021. We cannot deny how beautiful they changed the story but still the same plot is there. We loved Bright, Dew, Win and Nani on their Thai Series but we loved them more on portraying the infamous F4. They gave us new stories to the series and we cannot help but to delve deeper into their stories. We cannot wait for a week just for the next episode to be released. Let us admit it, we missed the F4! The show was 16 episodes and kuddos to the writer, director and crew staffs for being so creative on the story-telling. How I miss Gorya and Thyme and of course… Ren! *hearts everywhere*
I was shocked when I knew that Indonesia, USA and India had their own adaptations too but as a web series. I stumbled upon it when I am searching about the topic and saw it. It is unlicensed/unofficial adaptations but it is where it came from. Siapa Takut Jatuh Cinta (Indonesia) was released on 2002 and had another adaptation on 2017. Boys Before Friends (USA) on 2013 and Kaisi Yeh Yaariaan (India) on 2014. China has also an entry called entitled Meteor Shower that was released on 2009.
🌸 The F4 and their differences 🌸
Same plot, same story line but different scenes. Maybe that is the reason why we loved these adaptations and it does not matter if we know the start to the end of the story because of its variations.
On Meteor Garden Taiwan since it is the first to have a TV series, it became a little bit detailed and has 27 episodes on the first season and 31 on the second season. We cried, we laughed and we feel what we need to feel on every scenes. Even there was a point where we chose Huaze Lei over Dao Ming Xi for hurting Shan Cai. We watched how their feelings grew and how they fought against all odds. It has also a side story of the F4 which is the Meteor Rain where we knew about Xi Men’s first love and Mei Zou’s love story. We do not know more about the F4’s family but we know that they are born with silver spoon and that they are spoiled rich kids who rule the Ying De Academy.
On Hana Yori Dango I guess they really stick to the manga. It has three parts, the last one is a movie about the engagement of Tsukasa and Tsukushi. This is the only adaptation that has a spin-off called Hana Nochi Hare which took place on Eitoku Academy ten years after the F4 graduated. Unlike the Taiwanese version, Rui Hanazawa is a quiet guy and his family owns a large trading firm. Sojiro came from a reputable family who owns a large tea ceremony school at Japan. He has an older brother which is not on other adaptations. Akira came from a family of mafia and has twin sisters which is not said on other adaptations.
On Boys Over Flowers, we had a new taste of the story. We saw how lavish the life of the F4 and how grand Gu Jun Pyo can give gifts to Jan Di, for example is a heart island on Jeju. Talk about money! We also loved the characters of the F4. Jun Pyo who came from a rich family and plays violin just like Huaze Lei of Taiwan adaptation, Jiho who is the grandson of the former President, Yi Jung came from a family of artists and he is skillful on pottery and Woo Bin whose family owns a large construction company and they have connections to the mafias.
Meteor Garden 2018 is a bit of mild compared to other adaptations. The F4 is not really that bad bullies compared to the other adaptations. They are just smart players of their game who ruled Ming De University because they are intellegent and because they give the school numerous awards because if their skills on playing a card game called Bridge (poker). This is the only adaptation with card game like that and that they are in college. All of the adaptations were set in high school. They give joker cards instead of red cards to those people who challenge them. Huaze Lei also plays violin and majors in music unlike the three F4 who majors in business. We do not know much about the other two F4 but we all knew that they are great Bridge players.
Lastly, the F4 Thailand which I can say is the best adaptation. We witnessed on the first seasons how evil Thyme’s Mother is until she became not-so-evil on the end. We saw how MJ cares for his friends and we witnessed how F4 settle their friendship using fists. Hahaha! We witnessed how Thyme changed and how Gorya struggled just so Thyme could remember. We realized that this show could really happen in real life but also how great it is if someone who holds into power like that changed because of love. This is the only adaptation where I saw that the male lead (Thyme) asks forgiveness to everyone he bullied. Talk about character development! We also knew Kavin’s first love and MJ’s KFC love. Hahaha! We saw how Ren got hurt when Mira decided to go abroad and settle. We knew each character, Thyme is possessive to his power at school because of his Mom. Ren who likes to draw and is very artistic came from a family of Doctors. Kavin who is a playboy yet afraid to fall in love again because of Mona came from a family with high ranking positions in the government. His grandmother is also a National Artist because she makes really nice flower garlands. And, MJ who is a handsome hacker and came from a family of mafia. We witnessed different forms of love and how it was portrayed by the different persons because it is what they knew.
I am so sad because I will the shows but happy also because who does not love that story? Who does not love a toxic guy that changes into a good one because of love? Of course no one in real life would like that but because it is very entertaining, we watched it.
I hope other countries would make their own adaptations. What I like it more is it showcases the trends and cultures in each countries. So I really hope Indonesia, India and USA will make a TV series adaptation not only a web-series. I hope Philippines will make one too!

Requested by anonymous: Hi! Hope you've had a nice day, I was wondering could you write a piece on xiao xingchen, Lan xichen, Lan sizhui or huaze lei pls? Idm who u write on can it be romantic and fluff pls. Tysmmm <3
Pairing: Huaze Lei x reader
Word Count: 708 words
Warnings: angst (sorry :p),
Huaze Lei didn't know what to think at the moment. Not when he saw Shan-Cai ran in the room, panting heavily and tears streaming down her face. Her words didn't even process in his head, not until he heard Mei-Zou repeat it in a shocked tone.
"(Y/n) was in an accident?" His voice came out weaker than he wanted too, but it was loud enough to catch the others attention as they turned his way. Clear was the distress on his face, so much so that other people in the room started to quiet down. All of it became silent as it clicked in his head and not a second later, he was out of his seat and running out of the class. His friends were behind him and Mei-Zou was the only one to ask about the hospital, but Huaze Lei picked it up in the distance and ran the right way.
His legs carried him through the streets, his whole body pumping of adrenaline and nothing else as he wormed his way through the crowd of people. He needed to see if you were okay, he needed to.
He reached the hospital , panting loudly as he asked for your room number. The nurse was clearly confused, but searched nonetheless before revealing your room number. With that, Huaze Lei made his way to your floor. He didn't bother waiting for the elevator, seeing that there was already a bunch of people waiting anyways, and instead he rushed up the stairs to the fourth floor and then the search for your room began. He reached the end of the hallway, your room door closed and he paused.
His mind was a mess, he wasn't sure what to think.
The door opened too slowly, revealing the window of the room first before revealing the bed where you laid on. Once the door opened fully, he spotted up and there you sat.
You were sitting up, knees pulled up to your chest and your arms crossed on top of them. You were staring outside, clearly dazed. But you were in an okay state, a bandage wrapped around your head and one around your hand.
Your head turned to his direction, eyes settling on him. It took a few seconds for you to register that he was standing in your room, but once you realized your smile grew.
Huaze Lei didn't smile back.
He stood in place, seemingly emotionless. But you knew him better, his eyes told all. He was worried.
Before you could ask anything, he marched your way and you quickly wanted to say that you were fine. You didn't get to, his lips pressed against yours. Your eyes widened as you realized what he was doing. His hands were cupping your face as he kissed you and you suddenly felt a sort of comfort as you let your eyes close again.
He pulled back seconds later, eyes staring into yours as he waited for any kind of reaction. When you didn't say anything, he pulled back completely only to flinch when you pulled him back and hugged him.
"Sorry for worrying you." You whispered in his ear and you felt his arms embrace you more tightly as he laid his head on your shoulder. The door slammed open again, but Huaze Lei didn't move from his position. You, however, looked up from Huaze Lei's mop of hair and greeted the others with an awkward smile.
"We'll come back later." Mei-Zou commented as he smiled back, dragging the others out before closing the door again. You chuckled before pulling away from Huaze Lei, which caused him to look at you again before sighing softly.
"I'm going to get bullied now." He spoke and you rolled your eyes at him, pulling him closer again.
"You'll live, I'm sure." You laid down, pulling Huaze Lei down with you softly. He resisted as he pulled back, letting you lay down on your own as he pulled the blankets up.
"You need to rest." He said as he started to get up to leave and you got up again quickly to stop him, ready to tease him a bit so he'd stay. So you said the first thing that came in mind.
"No, no, no... I need my new boyfriend to take care of me!"

METEOR GARDEN (2018 CHINESE ADAPTATION)
As I stated many consideration this version the mild one, however to my recollection this is the only adaptation that shows Daoming Si (DYLAN WANG) physically assault Dong Shancai (SHEN YUE) like in the anime.
In the anime (available on Crunchyroll) Domyouji hauls off and slaps Makino in the face when she says something that angers him.
Here Daoming Si hits Shancai in the face with the food she was delivering to him. Obviously you can see his immediate regret though he does not apologize.
Of course this followed by the iconic Dong Shancai kicking Daoming Si in his face outside of their university.
