Engineering updates
Noticed while skimming episodes the other day some changes in Main Engineering during the first couple of seasons that I hadn't noticed before (or just forgotten about).
Specifically, I'm going to focus on the back end of Engineering, where the Master Systems Display is located:

Nice and busy
Now that area doesn't show up in Encounter at Farpoint, the couple of shots in engineering are centered around the warp core and the catwalk surrounding it (the open elevator connecting the two gets a lot of use in there).

Hot elevator action!
The MSD appears in the next episode The Naked Now but it's all alone.

Nothing more than a repurposed wide corridor where we stuck a giant screen, and it's green (it will stay green for the first two seasons). There's also no isolinear stacks underneath the MSD, and the hallways panels are missing some LCARS. Oh and we don't have our pool table MSD table.
The next time we see engineering from this angle is The Last Outpost.

A lot of progress for sure, but it's not right. The LCARS panels have been added to the bulkhead and the isolinear stacks are now underneath the display. The MSD Table, itself recycled from Star Trek 4, hasn't fully undergone the TNG conversion and looks out of place.
Here it is in The Voyage Home:

The Lighting elements that are flush against the Display are the wrong shape, flanking it. for comparison:
And now, a brief interlude to Where No One Has Gone Before:

They're GREEN. I had not...it had not clicked with me before (at least not consciously) that the lighting panels were green for the episode. I don't know if they were still tweaking the look or decided it should be green bc of Kosinski's so-called upgrades but in any case it's green and distracting now that I see it.
table's still wrong:

I feel like they're going to show us some x-rays on here.
By the time we reach 11001001 the table looks right (hard to tell from this angle but looks like the entire surface is reflective now).

the big lights are off, for some reason.
Another quick detour, this time to Home Soil, where the MSD also acts as a viewscreen:

also when you put chairs there it really emphasizes how those controls look like navigation (you can control the ship from Engineering I guess you could set it up that way).
The rest of the season won't see any further changes. Season 2, starting with Where Silence Has Lease the lighting elements around the MSD will have been updated to the ones that will remain throughout the rest of the series

The lighting might have changed between Where Silence Has Lease and Q-Who or just might be colour processing.
Finally, season 3 brings us the updated MSD with more detailed okudagrams on it

There might be rubber duck in there.
It will remain mostly unchanged for the rest of the series, except at some point someone slapped a label on the bottom left.

(this occured at some point between s3-4)
A final, minor, update was brought to the MSD where the label was removed and two lines were added to the pedestal for Star Trek: Generations.

(similarly to how the runabouts had a bunch of random lines that looked like electrical tape to make the sets pop).

Ok, Mark forgetting the preamble is important.

It says that bit about getting agitated on every single page.
Look at the post it with Petey’s scrawling on it. This must be from when he introduced iMark to MDR.
Pg 19 underlined with a spiral.
Do we think Mark lit something on fire?
Who is Mr Reynolds?
Why is the room Mark and I’ve are in padded?
The 9687 number looks a bit like the numbers on the screen with Helly.
also on Hellys screen, it’s says mds, maybe macro data surveillance? Nope I switched that around, it’s msd.

This is from the moment she wakes up, the timer in the corner says close to 360 seconds she was out on the table.

what no, don't compare them to castor beans. Kidney beans are just another variety of the common Phaseolus vulgaris bean, they just happen to be particularly high in the lectin phytohaemagglutinin, which causes digestive distress similar to food poisoning symptoms. While ricin is also a lectin, it is far more deadly—an msds I found for one type of phytohaemagglutinin cites a rat LD50 of 2g/kg, 2/3 that of table salt, while ricin is one of the scariest toxins around with an LD50 of 22μg/kg in mice by injection and estimated oral human LD50 of 1mg/kg. The Internet doesn't seem to think there have been any recorded human deaths from kidney beans, but it sounds like if it was to happen it would probably be from problems related to any cause GI distress (dehydration, electrolyte imbalance...).
As long as you don't cook them in a slow cooker (that may not get up to boiling), boil them during cooking for at least 10 minutes (they require a longer simmer after), and make sure they're fully cooked (you don't want to eat dried beans that aren't fully softened anyway), you're likely to be totally fine. If you're worried or serving them to populations like small children or the elderly who may be more vulnerable to serious consequences from digestive issues, then soak them and boil at least 30 minutes. Pressure cooking also works. Not something to be particularly scared about the way you'd worry about castor seeds (eek!), just don't eat kidney beans that aren't fully cooked or were cooked in a slow cooker.
you should also make sure lima beans are fully cooked for a different reason—they contain cyanogenic glycosides that will produce cyanide in your body (although varieties available in the US are restricted for cyanide levels). Thankfully cooking them and apparently even soaking before at least briefly cooking them does eliminate most of the potential for cyanide (though for phytohaemaglutinin reasons—yes they have both—it's best to fully cook them).
(The rare in the west dry hyacinth bean aka val or fejão piedra also warrants caution, apparently for similar reasons to the limas; and if you should come across dry lupini beans those absolutely do require special preparation and leaching and may be better left to processors who jar them. Cichercia or grass pea seems to be reasonably safe to consume occasionally but contains a neurotoxin that can cause dire effects if they are a dietary staple (which they have been as a famine food), perhaps particularly if one's diet is lacking otherwise)

#not wild about the tone of the screenshots but eh#...I feel like ½ tsp of baking soda is a huge amount for the context of dried beans though admittedly I haven't tried this much#fyi although they probably don't profit a ton off dried beans the brand Goya has owners who favor the current pres#eta: if you know your slow cooker and it does boil its contents for a long time then it's okay;#you can also do a 10 minute boil for safety & continue in a slow cooker#it's not really an absolute don't do it imo but if you're concerned about GI stuff don't eat random people's slow cooked kidney beans

From Specs to Global Success: How Technical Translation Services Power Innovation in 2025

In 2025, industries are innovating at lightning speed—developing hardware, software, machines, and infrastructure that transcend geography. But no matter how advanced the technology, one barrier can stall it: language. A misinterpreted safety manual, a poorly localized engineering spec, or an instruction sheet that confuses instead of informs—these are not small errors. They are project killers.
This is why technical translation services are now essential to modern industry. They transform complex documentation into precise, user-ready content in multiple languages, ensuring that your product, platform, or process works seamlessly worldwide.
Unlike general translation, technical translation requires absolute clarity. Whether it's a CAD drawing, a mechanical maintenance guide, or a software user manual, the documents involved are full of jargon, diagrams, units of measure, and often subject to safety regulations. Translators must not only understand the target language, but also the science, mechanics, or engineering behind the content.
Who Needs Technical Translation?
A wide range of industries rely on it daily:
Automotive & Aerospace: Manuals, engineering designs, and compliance documents
Energy & Mining: Safety data sheets, drilling protocols, and environmental impact assessments
IT & Software: UI/UX strings, installation guides, and white papers
Manufacturing: Assembly instructions, patent filings, and quality control protocols
Telecom & Electronics: Configuration guides, product datasheets, and diagnostics
Each of these sectors has region-specific terms, safety standards, and technical regulations—making precision critical.
What Makes Technical Document Translation So Challenging?
Use of domain-specific terminology
Presence of charts, tables, graphs, and symbols
Cross-unit and metric system conversions
Industry certifications and regulatory references
High stakes: an incorrect translation can lead to user injury or financial loss
To manage this complexity, a reliable technical translation company employs engineers, technical writers, and linguists with advanced domain knowledge. According to TechTarget, 71% of B2B technical buyers expect localized documentation, even before they make a purchase decision.
Technology in Technical Translation
Modern providers use tools like:
Translation Memory (TM) for consistency
Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) tools such as SDL Trados or MemoQ
Terminology Management Systems to maintain precision across languages
Localization Engineering for document layout, code strings, and software UI adaptation
These innovations not only reduce cost and time but ensure quality in repeated projects. At the core, though, human expertise is indispensable—especially for technical document translation services, where tone, formatting, and diagrams must remain intact across versions.
The Legal and Safety Element
Translated technical content often becomes part of a legal contract or safety compliance. An error in a translated Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS), for example, could violate environmental regulations. That’s why ISO 17100-certified processes and QA reviews are standard practice for industry leaders.
Partnering with a professional technical translation services provider gives companies peace of mind that their products will be well-received, well-understood, and safe to use—no matter the language.
Conclusion: Words That Build the Future
Engineering, IT, energy—these fields shape the physical and digital world. But their power depends on communication that’s as precise as the systems they build. In 2025, translating technical knowledge isn't optional. It’s a cornerstone of global commerce and compliance.
Choose a technical translation company that blends linguistic precision with deep domain expertise. That’s how innovation crosses borders.

Why I Chose Herbal Hills for My Green Supplement Startup
A New Idea Sparked by Green Nutrition When I first noticed the rise in green food supplements in India, I was fascinated. Everyone from wellness coaches to busy professionals seemed to be looking for clean, plant-based options to improve their energy, digestion, and skin health. I knew right then—this was the perfect time to build my own Ayurvedic supplement brand. But the big question was, where do I start?
Researching Ayurvedic Product Manufacturers in India
I spent weeks researching ayurvedic product manufacturers and food supplement manufacturers in India. My goal was clear: I wanted a partner who understood both traditional Ayurveda and modern supplement trends. That’s when I came across Herbal Hills. Their wide green supplement range, flexible private labeling services, and reputation as a reliable ayurvedic third-party manufacturer instantly stood out.
The First Call: Supportive, Transparent, and Insightful My first interaction with Herbal Hills’ team set the tone. They were friendly and knowledgeable and explained their end-to-end private label process clearly. I wasn’t treated like just another customer. They discussed formulations, packaging ideas, export support, and even e-commerce readiness. I felt like they actually cared about my brand vision.
Why Herbal Hills? Their Unique Advantages:
Certified Manufacturing Facility: Their GMP, ISO, and FSSAI certifications, along with USFDA registration, give them a major edge in global quality compliance.
In-House Herbal Farms: They grow their own wheatgrass, moringa, spirulina, and more using organic methods. This means traceability and purity.
Expert R&D Team: Whether I wanted to create a fizzy tablet with spirulina and enzymes or a traditional veggie-based capsule, their team was ready to help.
Low MOQ for Startups: As a beginner in this space, their low minimum order quantity helped me test the market with less risk.
Global Export Documentation: They support startups with COA, MSDS, batch coding, and custom labeling for international markets.
Choosing Products for My Brand I wanted to start with green food supplements that were both trendy and effective. Herbal Hills recommended:
24 Green Effervescent Tablets – For detox, digestion, and immunity.
Vegan Collagen Effervescent Tablets – For beauty-focused customers.
GreenHills Tablets – For daily alkaline nutrition.
VegieHills Tablets – For multivitamin support from vegetables.
These products checked every box for what today’s wellness shoppers want: convenience, visual appeal, plant-based nutrition, and clean labels.
Building a Business with Ayurvedic Science With Herbal Hills, I didn’t just get products—I got a partner in my wellness business journey. Their team created custom mockups, helped with product labeling, and guided me through the regulatory process. Their experience as a top ayurvedic third-party manufacturer really came through in how smoothly the setup went.
Online Selling Made Easy
Since I planned to sell on Amazon and my own website, Herbal Hills helped me with packaging suited for e-commerce. They also shared tips on how to highlight USPs like "natural detox," "vegan superfoods," and "daily gut support"—all key phrases customers search for.
What’s Next? I’ve just launched my first set of green nutrition products and the response has been overwhelming. Customers love the taste, feel the benefits quickly, and are asking for subscription packs. Thanks to Herbal Hills, I’m now confidently planning to expand into more categories like immunity and digestive health.
Final Words: A Manufacturer That Feels Like a Partner
If you're serious about starting your own wellness brand, don’t settle for a generic supplier. Herbal Hills is more than just a food supplement manufacturer in India—they’re a true partner. They care about your growth, help you every step of the way, and bring unmatched Ayurvedic expertise to the table.
Their support made my green supplement dream come true—and it can do the same for you.

konstantine is displeased about me being late at a meetup a few days ago.
it's a bad look!
There was more room on the table since some people went home so i had some fun posing him.

I later had Kostantine wrap his arm around Miriam's leg but I forgot to take pics since I thought I already took pics of it. I admit I'm not as good with Miriam's jointing as I am with Konstantine since I take him with me everywhere. I'll take her out more this summer. The only other dolls where I work well with posing is my DD Candy and my Volks MSD, Cosmos since she was the designated doll of photos for a while despite being pure JANK.
It was a really nice meetup! Everyone elses dolls were all immaculate and cute and lots of owners were also dressed up with lots of good cords.
People who met me in previous meetups were a little surprised to see me pull out another doll since they only see Konstantine at these meetups. I'll...bring you out more, Miri. Really. And maybe everyone else. Uh. Maybe.
you're just going to take kosti out are you.

Homeworker DSE Assessment: Protecting Health and Productivity in the Remote Work Era
As remote work becomes a permanent feature of modern business, the need for effective Display Screen Equipment (DSE) assessments for homeworkers has never been more critical. Whether employees work from home full-time or on a hybrid basis, ensuring their workstation setup complies with health and safety standards is vital for their wellbeing and long-term productivity. At Posture Group, we provide comprehensive Homeworker DSE assessments that support compliance, prevent injuries, and foster a healthier working environment outside the traditional office.
What is a Homeworker DSE Assessment?
A DSE assessment is a systematic evaluation of a workstation that uses display screen equipment—such as computers, laptops, tablets, or other visual display units. For homeworkers, this assessment identifies risks related to posture, repetitive tasks, and screen time, and recommends adjustments or equipment to reduce discomfort or injury.
Homeworker DSE assessments are a legal requirement under the Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations 1992. Employers are responsible for ensuring that all staff working with DSE—whether in the office or remotely—receive suitable assessments and follow-up actions if risks are identified.
Why Homeworker DSE Assessments Matter
Remote work offers flexibility and convenience, but it often leads to makeshift or substandard working environments. Dining tables, sofas, or beds used as desks can lead to poor posture, back pain, repetitive strain injuries, and eye strain. Without proper guidance, employees may not know how to set up an ergonomic workstation, increasing the likelihood of injury.
Key risks associated with poor homeworking setups include:
Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs): Including neck, shoulder, back, and wrist problems caused by poor posture or repetitive movements.
Visual Fatigue: Due to improper lighting, screen glare, or incorrect monitor height.
Stress and Fatigue: Often exacerbated by discomfort or an unsupportive environment.
By conducting a Homeworker DSE assessment, employers can proactively address these risks, demonstrating care for employee welfare and reducing potential long-term absenteeism.
Posture Group’s Expert Approach
At Posture Group, we specialise in ergonomic assessments that align with both compliance requirements and best-practice health and safety standards. Our Homeworker DSE assessments are tailored to suit organisations of all sizes—from small businesses to large corporate enterprises.
We offer a range of solutions, including:
1. Online DSE Self-Assessment Tool
Our user-friendly online DSE assessment platform allows employees to assess their own workstation from home. The tool includes interactive guidance, posture advice, and real-time recommendations based on the user's responses. Employers receive a report highlighting risks and can monitor compliance across teams via a management dashboard.
2. Virtual Ergonomic Consultations
For employees with specific issues or high-risk setups, we provide one-on-one video consultations with qualified ergonomic assessors. These virtual sessions involve a detailed review of the individual’s workstation, posture coaching, and equipment recommendations.
3. Onsite DSE Assessments (if required)
While remote services cover most scenarios, we also offer in-person assessments when necessary. This might be appropriate for high-risk cases or executive-level setups requiring tailored interventions.
Benefits of Working with Posture Group
Compliance Assurance: Meet legal obligations under UK Health & Safety law with documented, auditable assessment processes.
Employee Health & Wellbeing: Reduce injury risk, improve comfort, and promote healthy working habits.
Cost Efficiency: Prevent costly absenteeism, presenteeism, and long-term musculoskeletal issues.
Scalable Solutions: From SMEs to multinational firms, our services scale to meet your operational needs.
Expert Support: Our team of ergonomic specialists is on hand to offer advice, support, and follow-up assessments when needed.
Making Remote Work Sustainable
Remote working is here to stay—but it must be sustainable. That means shifting from short-term improvisation to long-term health-conscious planning. Providing employees with the knowledge and tools to set up a safe home workspace not only protects their health but also improves morale and performance.
Simple interventions such as adjusting monitor height, using a proper chair, or improving lighting can have a profound impact. Our assessments go beyond ticking boxes—they educate and empower employees to make healthier choices every day. Homeworker Assessments

Nowadays, cases of muscoskeletal disorders are on the rise due to the various activities that people pursue especially those associated with working long hours at their workstation using the PC. Muscoskeletal disorders (MSD) are conditions that affect bones, ligaments, tendons, joints or muscles (merckmanuals.com).Usually, symptoms manifest in the form of pain and inflammation that cause so much discomfort at the beginning and can lead to full debilitation. There are many types of MSD ranging from different types of arthritis, back pain, gout, fibromyalgia among many others. However, another set of MSD known as work-related MSD is prevalent since almost all people use computers for either work or play. The article that was discussed comes from conquest chronicles website that discuss Lateral Epicondylitis, which is commonly known as tennis elbow. This type of repetitive stress injury happens when people use their arms and wrist during some motions such as hammering or holding a screwdriver. Nevertheless, people who often use the computer are also susceptible to this RSI because their wrists are constantly resting on the computer table for long hours when typing or playing games in some cases. Hence, tennis elbow is not common only to tennis players but people who constantly use their forearms. A closer look at the anatomy of tennis elbow shows that chronic rotation of the two major muscles (Anconeus and Supinator) which supports the forearms movement results to strain on the tendons in these muscles (orthoinfo. aoos.org). Over time, the tendons suffer from repetitive movements leading to lateral epicondylitis. The result of the Computer Workstations ETool( osha.gov) showed I had twenty-five yes answers, which show that there are some things that must be adjusted to make my workstation more ergonomic. The first solution was to get the right kind of chair that can provide adequate lumbar support. The second solution was to adjust the monitor to eye level since it was mounted quite high, making me raise my neck upward to read. Lastly, the cord of my mouse should be loose enough to pull so I can easily use the mouse. Indeed, the checklist showed to me that some of the causes of injury come from the user himself, especially when they are not aware of the right equipment to use. Furthermore, some stretching after working on a desk station for an hour could ease the tension on muscles. Lateral epicondylitis can be prevented as long as people are informed about the importance of ergonomics. References Jacewicz, M. (2006, September 1). A Comprehensive Guide to Chemical Reagent Storage Cabinets
Proper storage of chemical reagents is critical for safety, compliance, and efficiency in laboratories. A chemical reagent storage cabinet is specifically designed to store hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals securely. This article covers the features, selection criteria, and maintenance tips for these cabinets.
Importance of Chemical Reagent Storage Cabinets
Why Proper Storage Matters
Proper storage ensures a safe working environment and compliance with regulatory standards. It minimizes the risk of chemical spills, contamination, and accidents.
Risks of Improper Storage
Improper storage can lead to:
Dangerous chemical reactions
Fire hazards
Legal penalties for non-compliance
For more details on the importance of safe storage, visit OSHA’s Chemical Hazard Guidelines.

Key Features of Chemical Reagent Storage Cabinets
Durable Materials
Look for cabinets made from steel or other robust materials with corrosion-resistant coatings. These materials enhance longevity and safety.
Ventilation Systems
A good ventilation system prevents the buildup of harmful fumes. Some cabinets allow connections to external exhaust systems for added protection.
Spill Containment Features
Spill containment trays or sumps at the cabinet’s base prevent leaked chemicals from spreading, reducing the risk of accidents.
Adjustable Shelves
Flexible shelving accommodates containers of different sizes, making it easier to organize your storage efficiently.
Locking Mechanisms
A secure locking mechanism restricts access to authorized personnel, ensuring that chemicals remain safe and secure.
How to Choose the Right Chemical Reagent Storage Cabinet
Capacity and Size
Select a cabinet based on your storage needs. For small-scale labs, compact cabinets suffice. Larger facilities may require high-capacity cabinets with multiple compartments.
Compliance with Standards
Ensure the cabinet meets OSHA, NFPA, and EPA standards. Certifications such as UL-listed or FM-approved add extra assurance of quality.
Type of Chemicals Stored
Different chemicals require specific storage conditions. For example:
Flammable chemicals need fire-resistant cabinets.
Corrosive chemicals require corrosion-resistant interiors.
Consult the NFPA’s Chemical Storage Guidelines for more insights.
Maintenance Tips for Longevity
Regular Cleaning
Clean shelves and trays using a mild detergent.
Avoid harsh chemicals that could damage the cabinet’s finish.
Inspection and Repairs
Check for corrosion, leaks, or damage to hinges and locks.
Replace worn-out parts promptly to maintain safety.
Safe Handling Practices
Always use protective equipment when handling chemicals.
Label all containers clearly to avoid confusion.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
Overcrowding the Cabinet
Overloading the cabinet reduces efficiency and can damage its structural integrity. Follow the manufacturer’s weight guidelines.
Storing Incompatible Chemicals Together
Keep reactive chemicals in separate compartments to prevent dangerous reactions. Always refer to the material safety data sheets (MSDS) for guidance.
Conclusion
A chemical reagent storage cabinet is an essential investment for any laboratory. By selecting the right features, maintaining the cabinet properly, and avoiding common mistakes, you can ensure a safer and more efficient workspace.
