Welsknight Season 7, EP 3 and 4 a Rat's report
So I guess I am doing this, I am watching the entirety of Wels Hermitcraft Season 7 series and doing a actual written report on it.
First / Next
Deep Storage Warehouse | Hermitcraft 7 - Ep. 3
27:41 lenght, posted 29 may 2020, watched 30/01/2023 and 31/01/2023
He clicks record button and it starts raining. He complains that this is "Just his luck" and I agree, this sums his lucky very well. (Personal note: I had a brief flashback to Doc in season eight talking about the fact of how hard is to see rain in Hermitcraft, and I find it amusing that Wels is one of the culprits, as one of the local sleeping maniacs.)
He is tiding up his river "Basically you are trying to avoid the appearance that you just spammed bonemeal, even though you just spammed bonemeal everywhere" (Time stamp 3:50)
"So I don't think there is a rule against two timelapses in a single episode, lets do it!" Stares in House Flipper series at this 3 year old video.
Personal note: I was building a puzzle with friends while watching it and I zoned out a bit, when I zoned back he was so amused talking about his own building that it just put a big ol' smile in my face.
Fwhip mentioned! He built one of Fwhip's boat designs and gave credit, he started talking about Fwip and how he likes his videos and how he watches it! Idk it just made me soft seeing he talking about Fwhip, knowing that in like 2 years? The man would be steeping in Hermitcraft ground, its a shame Wels wasn't active and didn't got to interact with the Empire people.
"My knight time senses are tingling" *proceeds to spam clicks a bed
"My sleep sense are tingling again" *proceeds to spam clicks a bed (I guess this is his superpower now)
He needs to make a shop
-Wels: No one sell leather and I need a good source of food -Me: Nodding in redstoner "Okay so he will make a hoogling farm, sounds fun" -Wels: I need some cow -Me: Excuseme what? -Me: Stops and thinks for the exact amount of 3 seconds, oh yeah the nether was still bad.
He will vote for Joe as dog catcher! Good to know!
He bought the Hermit Heralds!!! The only thing I managed to read was "Unsanitary Scar"
Wels is talking about cow, stops mid phrase "Problem must sleep" Sir just admit you have a problem.
Wels is doing a cow pen (This is where I suffered from multiple organs failure) "Ha you are mine, forever forever, forced to live a life of breeding" SIR (pERSONAL notes: Yes I am one of the mods in correct Hermitcraft quotes, and yes I have posted worst things there (It was Keralis and xB), and NO, I will not post this in the blog, for the sake that my little rat hearth will NOT survive receiving this quote as a notification.)
FULL House Interior! | Hermitcraft 7 - Ep. 4
25:12 length, posted 5 june 2020, watched 01/02/24
This is a interior decor episode, this Brazilian redstoner Rat will do some comments about Wels decor, be prepared.
Decor talk: I love what he is doing with the ceiling, I could never though about that, I would have let it as it was and sulked.
"If I decided to put a basement in this house, this would be the ideal place to put it, and if not, this can be storage, closet, stairs, you know; Harry Potter could live in there or something" (Time stamp 7:30)
Decor talk: Ok that bedroom is gorgeous, the bed isn't functional, but at least he can sleep in the bench (that is actually a bed)
I will describe the next sequence of actions because it's funny
Goes to the shopping district to buy skulkers
Sees the free samples barrel
clicks on it
Zombies appears out of nowhere
It's a trap.
False for mayor trap!
She kills the mobs and walks away looking honestly cool
It actually worked! Wels retreat his concrete vote for Stress
He realizes that got distracted and goes and buys the shulkers
No free samples for Wels
The great entrance hall is attached to the wrong door, the main entrance door is connected to the kitchen "Planning 10/10" At least it's pretty?
Decor talk: He keeps making benches, he doesn't have a functional bed, but he has a lot of benches.
One of his goals for season 7 was to get better at doing interior!
Decor talk: He is doing great, all he builds is so good omg. For all that I joke about his house flipper, this man knows how to decorate and I really appreciate his buildings.
Beef tunes! He is buying a piano!
So I will cut a bit here, to say that Wels did a honestly moving speech about things that were happening at the time in the world, and I feel like are relevant to today 3 years latter.
I urge everyone to go watch it, because it's truly powerful and it was a good reminder of why he is one of my favorite youtubers.
Its starts roughly at 16:53 and ends at 20:06
I will now transcript part of it here, but I can't stress enough, go watch the whole thing, it got me really by surprise.
"However I will say this, I don't give a damn, and I use that word deliberately, because this is important enough to warrant it.
I don't give a damn about the color of your skin, who you love, your religious beliefs, what political party you belong to, or other description that people may use to categorize you, good people are always welcome in my community, and all it takes to be a good person in my book is to follow the golden rule of treat other as you wish to be treated."
The speech is way longer, and I got really really touched, I am still looking at it and reflecting.
Anyway back to normal now.
Some time and world observation:
In the Hermit Heralds it was written "Get gorgeous" I am curious how much it cost Stress to put this there
Shopping district remains a ugly mess
I did this at 2 am, good night.

       ~ “Imperial staircase made of oak wood in Castel Savoia, built for the Queen consort of the Kingdom of Italy Margherita of Savoy. Italy Queen Margaret Castle stands at the foot of Ranzola hill, Valle d'Aosta, northern Italy, in the place known as ‘Belvedere’, as it dominates the whole of the valley as far as the Lyskamm glacier.The building was erected between 1899 (the first stone was laid on 24 August) and 1904. In 1981 it was purchased by Val d’Aosta Regional Council. The architect Emilio Stramucci, who designed the neo-Baroque decorations for Palazzo Reale in Turin and for the Quirinale in Rome, designed the mediaeval-style castle, described as ‘15th-century Lombard style’, quite frequent in France and Savoy, the homelands of the reigning sovereigns. It consists of a central rectangular body, with four cusp-roofed towers, each different from the others. The exteriors is covered in grey stone from the quarries of Chiappey in Gressoney, Gaby and Vert. The castle is on three floors: the ground floor, with living quarters, the noble floor, with the royal apartments and the second floor (not open to visitors), reserved for gentlemen of the court; the cellars are located underground. Only a few pieces of the original furniture remain; the other furniture on show comes from Villa Margherita, property of the Beck Peccoz Barons, in which the Queen stayed before the manor’s construction; the original pieces include the tapestries in linen and cotton, decorated with a chiné effect. The ornamental pictures are the work of the young painter and restorer Carlo Cussetti, who later worked on the new wing of Palazzo Reale in Turin. The mediaeval-inspired coffered ceilings, wooden panels and furniture are by the Turin wood carver Dellera, who supplied the Royal House.On the ground floor, the main entrance leads to a vast hall with columns and a painted coffered ceiling, which leads in turn onto other rooms. On one side are the gaming rooms and the sitting rooms, connected to the semi-circular veranda looking over the valley. On the opposite side are the dining room, with its richly painted decorations on the walls, fireplace and ceiling coffers, and parchment-carved boiserie. Neogothic is also the style used in the so-called ‘staff-bearer’s entrance’ in the octagonal tower situated in the north-west corner. An elegant wooden Imperial staircase made of oak wood leads to the royal apartments, preceded by a hall whose ceiling bears the inscription ‘Hic manebimus optime’. The Queen’s apartment occupies the best position: from the windows of the delightful sitting room in the northern tower, you can enjoy the view of Mount Rosa and the entire valley. The false fabrics painted between the windows are reminiscent of the decoration in the baronial hall of Issogne castle. The adjacent apartment was occupied by the Hereditary Prince Humbert. On the opposite side of the hall are situated the apartments of the King and of the Marchioness Pes of Villamarina, lady-in-waiting to the Queen. The kitchens were located in a building a short distance away and were connected to the castle by an underground Decauville track. Other annexes include Villa Belvedere, originally used for guests and the royal gendarmerie, and the little house known as Romitaggio Carducci, dedicated to the poet who was a devoted admirer and singer to the queen. The foot of the manor hosts a rocky garden full of Alpine, botanical species.” ~

10 Trending False Ceiling Design For Hall
Embarking on the journey of enhancing your living space with a false ceiling design for hall opens a realm of possibilities, where artistry converges with practicality to redefine the very essence of your home.
Tumblr media
A false ceiling, also known as a dropped or suspended ceiling, is an architectural element that hangs below the main ceiling structure, creating a secondary surface. This design choice offers a canvas for artistic expression while concealing structural elements, electrical wiring, and ductwork.
The hall, being a central space for gatherings and daily activities, deserves a design that seamlessly integrates sophistication, innovation, and functionality.
A well-crafted false ceiling design for hall serves as a transformative feature, elevating the overall aesthetic appeal and creating a distinct ambiance.
One of the key benefits of a false ceiling for living room is the ability to control and customize lighting. Recessed or hidden lighting fixtures can be seamlessly incorporated into the design, providing ambient, task, or accent lighting.
Imagine a hall bathed in a soft, diffused glow, accentuating the architectural details and creating a cosy atmosphere for both family moments and entertaining guests.
When considering a false ceiling design for hall, the possibilities are virtually limitless. Modern interiors often embrace clean lines and minimalist aesthetics, reflected in false ceilings with sleek, geometric patterns. Coffered designs bring a touch of classic elegance, introducing depth and dimension to the hall's overhead space.
Innovative false ceiling designs can also play with textures and materials. Gypsum board ceilings allow for intricate patterns and can be moulded into various shapes, adding a sculptural element to the hall.
Wooden panels in a false ceiling infuse warmth and a natural vibe, creating a connection with the outdoors.
For those seeking a fusion of luxury and contemporary design, a false ceiling with suspended or drop-down panels can be introduced.
These panels can be crafted from materials like glass, acrylic, or even fabric, adding an element of drama and sophistication. Imagine a hall where a strategically placed, backlit panel becomes a focal point, setting the tone for the entire space.
In the context of Vastu principles, the false ceiling design for hall can be aligned with the five elements of nature: earth, water, fire, air, and space. The choice of colours, materials, and patterns can be curated to resonate with the energies associated with each element, promoting a balanced and positive environment.
Moreover, the false ceiling serves as an acoustic enhancer, absorbing sound and reducing echoes in the hall. This is particularly significant for those who appreciate a tranquil atmosphere, creating an oasis of calm amidst the hustle and bustle of daily life.
In conclusion, a well-conceived false ceiling design for drawing room transcends mere utility. It becomes a statement of refined taste, a testament to innovation, and an emblem of contemporary sophistication.
Whether you lean towards a modern, minimalistic approach or favour a more elaborate, classical design, the false ceiling allows you to shape your hall into a personalised sanctuary.
It's not just about the physical transformation but also the emotional and experiential elevation of your living space. Embrace the endless possibilities, and let your hall be a canvas for the artistry of architectural design.

From award-winning designer Michael E. Nelson comes a stunning addition to our French Country House Collection. St. Augustine uses a mixture of stone and brick siding to add depth and visual interest to the home. Elegant arched windows are complimented by wooden shutters, while the towering rooflines are complimented by beautiful finials, creating the ultimate curb appeal.
Open Floor Plan
An arched entryway welcomes you into the home, where you will find yourself in the foyer below a lofty 12-foot ceiling. To the left, you will see the formal dining room flanked by timber posts and beams. Straight ahead, toward the rear of the St. Augustine home plan, is the great room and kitchen, where the open floor plan allows these two spaces to flow together seamlessly. An elegant vaulted ceiling displays exposed false timber beams to accentuate these spaces. The fireplace in the Great Room is the perfect spot to enjoy a cup of coffee and a roaring fire during the chilly winter months. The Kitchen has plenty to offer, including a large island with a sink, a high top bar with seating, and even room for an ice machine (I.M.).
On the left side of St. Augustine are bedrooms 2 and 3. These rooms are both spacious with large closets and share a Jack and Jill style bathroom between them.
From this side of the home you can also enter the 2-car side load garage, from which you can access the additional single bay front load garage. A half bath is conveniently located right off the main hall for guests, as well as the huge laundry room, which boasts a sink, plenty of counter- and cupboard-space, and a desk.
Master Suite Wing
The right wing of St. Augustine is entirely devoted to the Master Suite. Before entering, you will step into a brief foyer equipped with a linen closet that may serve as a convenient drop-off for briefcases, coats, or purses. The master bedroom displays a beautiful 10-foot boxed ceiling, and charming French doors lead you out to the covered rear porch. The Master Bath is complete with all the amenities, including a dual sink vanity, private toilet room, corner whirlpool tub beside a window for natural lighting, and a separate enclosed corner shower. A huge walk-in closet is also accessed from here, with tons of shelving and optional drawer space.
Stunning Outdoor Living Space
In this beautiful St. Augustine house plan, you certainly can’t forget about the wonderful outdoor living spaces! French doors lead from the great room out to the covered porch, which features a vaulted ceiling and outdoor fireplace. From here you have access to an additional covered porch and a grilling patio with a stone surface. 10-foot cedar posts characterize the grandeur of these covered porches.

Gypsum vs POP ceiling: Which one is the better choice for your hall?
These days, false ceilings have become an integral part of home construction and this is because of the beauty that they can add to them. They also keep away extra heat, noise, and cold from your abode. They are also essential when it comes to installing a central air conditioning system and hiding electrical wires. However, a false ceiling can only last long and be durable when you choose high-quality materials to make it. The two materials used the most commonly in these cases are POP (Plaster of Paris) and gypsum. Both of them have gypsum as a base but are different.
The pros and cons of gypsum
It is easy to install gypsum boards and clean them. They can also provide your ceiling with a seamless look without a lot of joints. This means you can easily create some great gypsum ceiling designs for hall with this material. These products are manufactured in factory machines and this is why you can be sure that they are consistent in terms of quality and finish. This is also perhaps the reason why the modern gypsum ceiling designs are as good as they are. Among the disadvantages of this material is the effort that it takes to uninstall these boards.
The pros and cons of POP
As a material, POP is immensely durable and can sustain for years without any wear or tear. As opposed to gypsum boards these boards can be moulded to different designs. They are also so flexible that you can apply them on corners as well! They are also around 25 to 40% cheaper than gypsum boards. However, the main issue with these boards is that you need skilled labour to work on them. Otherwise, you would not get the finesse that you get with the making of gypsum boards.
No matter which of these materials you choose in the end it would be better if you got them from a top brand such as Gyproc as that way you would not have to worry about the quality of the final product. After all, these products do cost you money that you have to work so hard to earn and you would not want that to go down the drain, would you, with some inferior product that does not serve the purpose that you bought it for? These are reputed brands that we are talking about over here and so you can trust them.

The latest options for designing your hall false ceiling
There is perhaps no area in your home where you cannot have a false ceiling, and this is inclusive of your living room as well. The main reason why you should have false ceilings is to hide your normal ceilings or the equipment that you are using for your central air conditioning. There are so many ways in which you can customize a false ceiling such as colours, sizes, and forms. It is this customizability that allows you to provide your living room with a look of opulence and grandeur. There are different kinds of designs that you can choose in this context ranging from intricately traditional to contemporary.
Using accent walls that feature fall designs
You may have a detailed wall design or even a customized piece of furniture in this case. The thing with such a modern false ceiling design for hall is that it is highly versatile and would work nicely with bold and detailed designs. Now, whether you choose a couple of different tones or a single colour would depend on the interior design of your house. The thing with these accent walls is that it is rather simple to paint on them. You can cover it with oil or enamel-based paint or leave it uncoated for an unfinished appearance.
False ceiling ideas for smaller living rooms
If you are looking for a fall ceiling design latest, this is something that you must know. If you have an open floor plan you may want to create some separation between your living room, dining area, and kitchen. It is easy to achieve this with different false ceiling designs. This way, you could offer an impression of a bigger and more open space by going with colour patterns and schemes that intrigue one and all. If you want to make the room look taller you can choose a darker colour for the ceiling.
Conclusion
While choosing a false ceiling design for your hall it is very important to know what you are looking for as that is what would help you make the right choice in this context. It is not that you have to choose only a plain design in this case. You can always afford to be inventive in these cases by mixing lights of different shapes. Apart from this you also have to get the best materials to complete the project properly and for that, you would have to depend on the likes of Gyproc.

Coincidence (Fives x f!Reader) Part 1
Author Note: This was originally a super basic idea that I just got really carried away with and before I knew it I had 1666 words and was like “welP. We’re doing multi chapter stuff now”. Bit of a slow pace at the moment. Part 2 will have more action.
Summary: You and Fives are assigned on a delicate infiltration mission.
Warnings: None.
Word Count: 1666
Tumblr media
Rex’s POV
“Are you sure it’s a good idea to have them working together on this mission?”
I had to admit, I too was second guessing. It was a risky move, but I had faith that Fives and Y/N could pull this off.
“Yes sir,” I affirmed, “their specialised training accommodates for missions of this nature.”
“I’m well aware of their training Rex.” General Skywalker replied as we entered the bridge and approached the holotable. “I just wonder if things might get too… personal.”
“Sir, they’re the most dedicated soldiers I’ve ever met-“
“You mean the most stubborn,” Ahsoka, whom had been waiting for us on the bridge, supplied with a grin.
The general nodded his head reluctantly as though not completely convinced. He brought his hand up to rest on his chin as he contemplated.
“The communications have been established sir,” interrupted Admiral Yularen as he joined those of us surrounding the holotable.
A crackling sound came through as Fives and Y/N’s comms came online.
“Y/N comm check.”
“Fives comm check.”
General Skywalker leaned forward, overseeing the map of the multi-level mansion before him and the two red bleeping icons that signaled their positions.
“You’re clear to proceed,” he advised.
“Copy that,” rang Y/N’s clear voice.
I turned to face the general.
“They know what needs to be done sir.”
Skywalker considered my words carefully. He sighed, “I don’t know Rex. What if they’re not prepared to do what needs to be done?”
  Your POV
Heels echoed throughout the dimly lit hallway as I followed the sound of distant music and murmuring that spilled from the ballroom. As I drew closer, I held my breath in anticipation.
Or was that just this ridiculously tight corset?
I fluttered the fan in my hand in a feeble attempt to act like the lady everyone thought I was, while forcing some oxygen into my lungs. I took a deep gulp of air and compelled a graceful smile to my lips before I stepped into the light and glamour of the ongoing party.
Swiftly, I made my way over to the far side of the room where small tables covered in fine white tablecloth were dotted about for guests to rest at when their feet got tired of the dancing. Since it was still early in the night, many seats were yet to be occupied.
As inconspicuously as I could, I seated myself at a table displaced relatively far from the crowded dance floor. Casually, as if simply admiring the grand space, I surveyed the area. The room itself had to be at least three stories high with massive columns reaching up from the marble floor and curving to intertwine at the center of the ceiling, creating an arched effect. A magnificent chandelier was strung from the heights of the room and casted a beautiful reflection upon the floor’s surface and her dancers.
Hundreds of strangers in expensive clothing mingled below, constantly switching partners through the course of the dance. Swirling skirts and glimmering jewels were all that could be seen as I observed the onslaught of people.
All of this I saw in only a glance before my eyes found our man across the dance floor from me. He stood tall in a suit, cane in hand, as he conversed with other young men. Unfortunately, my eyes failed to find my man who was meant to be already situated at the main hall’s back exit.
I noted to my right, an approaching butler serving crystal glasses filled with rich red wine. Effortlessly, I reached out, seized a glass from the silver tray as he passed and brought the goblet to my lips as though to drink.
“I’m in position,” I muttered. “Eyes are on the target and ready to engage. Fives where are you?”
Small static sounds could be heard through my comm as the audio came through.
“Relax,” came the smooth reply, “I wouldn’t want to miss the party.” I resisted rolling my eyes at the slight tease in his tone. “Besides,” he continued, his voice dropping low, “I would love to see you in that dress again mesh’la.”
“Focus Fives.”
A small smirk tugged at the corner of my mouth at the General’s curt interruption.
From the corner of my eye, I saw Fives slip through a side door clad in the guard uniform he had stolen. My smirk grew. He looked so cute in the dress uniform; little epaulettes and all. Clearly Fives wasn’t the only one distracted. I forced my attention to the task at hand.
“Ready when you are.”
“About time,” I breathed as I left my cup on the table and stood. “Approaching target.”
 The Jedi Council had heard of a new Separatist general joining the fray.
Yavaros Tai.
Rumour had it that Tai was finalising his designs of a deadly weapon that he was revealing to his Separatist sponsors tonight. Clearly, the surrounding men he spoke to were his said benefactors. Wealth dangled from them.
Edging closer, I noted that he looked far younger than I had anticipated. No older than his mid-twenties.
The dark blue floral dress I wore dragged along the floor, so much so, not even my heeled shoes had given me the height I needed, and I resorted to tug the front of my dress upward to refrain from tripping. I hoped that all would go to plan, and I wouldn’t have to try and run in this thing. My only comfort was that I was well rehearsed in these kinds of missions and, on more than one occasion, proved myself to be surprisingly sufficient in improvising… and running.
As I approached the group of men, I planned my next steps carefully in my head. Now, with them only a few feet to my right, I looked over my shoulder as though entranced and distracted. An oblivious dancer, close to the edge of the throng, accidently collided into me and sent me tumbling. Before I could even register the surprised shouts of men, strong arms caught me, and I looked up to see the bright blue eyes of General Tai. Perfect.
  Fives’s POV
She was beautiful.
I knew we were in the middle of a mission, but my eyes were completely spellbound as they intently traced her movements. She moved with a grace and sophistication I had never seen on her before and, despite being dressed to fit in for the event, she stood out like a rose among thorns.
From my position near the doorway, I spied the envious looks from the surrounding women as she walked the expanse of the hall. I didn’t fail to realise the visible admiration from the men nearby either, but my brief jealousy was quickly replaced by pride. I couldn’t help the smug smile.
That’s my girl.
I wished I could be beside her. Show those men she was mine. Maybe ask her to dance. We could dance and laugh until our feet got tired and then leave the party, running down the empty corridors. We would find a way to climb up to the roof and spend the rest of the night under the stars like I know she loved to do.
My smile faltered. Not for the first time, disappointment and love fought for control as I struggled to come to terms with reality.
Because standing alone on the outskirts, I was again reminded anew.
She may love me, but I could never give her the life she deserved.
  Your POV
My mouth gaped open in false shock.
“Oh, excuse me!” I exclaimed. “My sincerest apologies!”
The corner of General Tai’s eyes crinkled in amusement as I gathered myself and pretended to act gushed and embarrassed. Smoothing out my dress, I noted his hands still rested on my shoulders. One of them still held onto his cane. Almost reluctantly, he let his arms fall to his sides as he took in my appearance. I blushed as his penetrating eyes slowly raked down and back up my form.
“My my,” he hummed, “what a beautiful specimen.” His hand caught mine and gently lifted it to brush his lips against my knuckles. His eyes stared intently into mine. It made me uncomfortable. In many ways he was generically handsome, blue eyes, blonde hair, high cheekbones, and a refined posture. Nothing like Fives with his dark features, rugged look, wild smile, and-
“Ehem.” My thoughts were interrupted when a man to our side leaned closer to the general. “We have important matters to discuss sir.” His narrowed eyes flickered over to me. I could tell he was trying to intimidate me as he squared his shoulders.
“Nothing that can’t wait Cronan.” Yavaros’s eyes never left mine.
“But sir- “
“Cronan,” Tai interjected, finally tearing his gaze away from me to focus on the man beside him. “This is a party, is it not? Enjoy yourselves this evening gentlemen. We will discuss business later.”
Cronan shot me daggers as him and the other men dispersed and weaved themselves among the partygoers. Some opted to dance, while most continued to converse with other diplomats.
“Looks like a fun crowd,” I remarked sarcastically, drawing the general’s attention back to me.
“Ah yes,” Tai smirked as his piercing eyes turned to fix on me once more. “I should like to apologise for his curtness. Cronan is… ambitious, and very keen in his handling of business.”
I look of hunger flashed in his eyes.
“Perhaps in some ways, I am no different.” I tried not to squirm as he edged closer to me.
“Oh?”
Ahhh man.
“Mmm.” I felt his breath ghost my cheek as he whispered in my ear. “I’m ambitious to gain your affections Miss…”
“Miss Y/N,” I supplied in a breathy tone. While he mistook it for admiration, I tried to steal my nerves.
He leered. “Miss Y/N,” he murmured, as though playing how the name felt on his tongue. The tension in the air tangible. “Would you join me for a walk?”
To be continued...

Possible trigger warning: tw blood (from a paper cut), religious imagery (takes place in a church)
----------------------------
Candles flickered as the Priest sat down at the dimly lit desk. Encased in the shadows behind the alter in the main hall of the church.
"Alright," he sighed, "let's see what else you hold." He resumed his attempted translation of the leather book. Well, there wasn't much translation going on at the moment. He was currently just familiarizing himself with the pages of the book. Flipping through and skimming the pages with occasional illustrations on them.
He stopped flipping when a page caught his eye. It seemed important with the most detailed drawing he had seen so far taking up the entire right page. It seemed to show a young British man who was adjusting his glasses while sitting on a moss covered log. The man had most of his face abscured by his large round glasses and his hand pushing the frames back into place.
The strange part was the clothing the man wore. The pants were the most normal looking part, seemingly a pair of normal slacks. The shirt had no buttons that he could see with the sleeves cut short, leaving the entirety of his arms exposed.
The strangest part was the hat.
The hat seemed to be designed to imitate the top of a mushroom. It looked far too big to be functional, with the brim seemingly wider than the man's shoulders, and looked like it would fall off at the slightest tilt. But the man seemed unaffected by the weight, with the hat drawn unmoving from his head.
On the left page was more of the unrecognizable language, with two lines written apart from the rest.
"Who are you?" the Priest asked the drawing.
The drawing did not answer.
Maybe this is the title, he thinks to himself, with the authors name written below it.
After a few false starts, the Priest slowly attempts to read the lines of text. Coming up with different sounds for the strange symbols until it sounded right.
It didn't sound like English. But it sounded right.
"Is that your name?" The Priest asked the drawing, repeating the strange words.
The drawing didn't answer.
Sighing, he started to turn to the next page but paused at the slight sting he felt on his hand. Lifting it up revealed a long thin paper cut along the bottom of his fingers. The pain was starting to settle in and a somewhat worrying amount of blood started dripping onto the pages of the book.
The Priest quickly darted up from his chair, rushing to find his pack of medical supplies before the cut could get infected. He was oblivious to the fresh blood seeping into the paper and spreading over the mushroom man.
For a moment, the room was calm. Candles burned, blood seeped, and the air was still. Crickets could be heard chirping faintly outside. It felt peaceful.
The blood started bubbling.
A soft sizzling sound filled the air, drowning out the chirping of the crickets, as the blood started to cover the entire page. Then the entire book. Then spilling down the desk, creating a waterfall of blood onto the floor. Pooling on the ground, the crimson liquid started to drip up towards the ceiling, defying the laws of physics as it started to twist and twirl in the air.
The blood continued to stretch and grow, nearly hitting the hanging cross above the alter as it seemed to reach its limit before expanding outwards. Morphing and moving into a tall spindly shape.
The liquid finally stopped expanding as it solidified into a humanoid being.
The being had a bright blue torso with its legs, bent and shaped like a cranes, colored a darker blue like the evening sky. It's arms were a stark white with long fingers tampering to a point at the end. It's face was the same white color with sunken black eyes, canine teeth, and bits and pieces of mushroom growing out of its skin. Growing securely on the top of its head was a large over sized mushroom head, a starting blood red interrupted only by white rot.
Blinking, the figure looks around wondering where the summoner was. It couldn't have come here without one. So where were they?
The figure takes a good look at his surroundings. It realizes it's in a church. Which is strange. Normally it couldn't be summoned into a church because it was too holy and blessed to even get close without screaming in pain. This church felt quite comfy to the figure.
Reaching up into the rafters, the figure pulled itself up, up, up, and laid down across the support beams along the ceiling. Its head tilted to stare down at the desk and the empty crooked chair.
This is the best nap spot I've ever found, mused the figure, I'll have to stay here a while.
Before it could get too drowsy, foot steps could be heard coming closer.
The Priest strolled back into the main hall with most of his attention going to double checking that he hadn't bled through his bandages. The paper cut still stung a little but he knew that it would fade quickly.
He quickly checked the book to see if it had gotten stained and was grateful that he had not gotten blood on the book. It almost looked like the drawing was sharper and newer to the Priest. The pages appeared to be missing creases and stains. Like it was a brand new book.
"I should get to bed soon," the Priest mumbled to himself as he rubbed his eyes of sleep.
Sitting down again, the Priest looked back down at the drawing of the man. Even when he was bandaging his cut his thoughts kept going in circles around the man. Over and over. Always coming back to the same question in his mind.
"What is your name?" The Priest asked the drawing.
The drawing did not respond.
But the figure did.
"George."

             Vila Mathilda of Bucharest in Romania.
      ~ Mathilda Villa was built especially, at the exclusive request of Mathilda Rădoi, between 1896 and 1897, at a time when very few women owned property. Located in the heart of Bucharest, near the University Square, Batiștei Street, the National Theater and the Rosetti - Armenian Square area, this beautiful villa was built according to the plans of the architect NC Michăescu (1863-1934) and decorated by the architect A. Clavel (1875-1916) together with the painter Ştefan Luchian (1868-1916). The building is representative of the eclectic style of the late nineteenth century, retains decorative elements originally or restored in 1983.
The interior layout of the new house is in line with the liberal profession of the owner: he had an office on the ground floor, with direct access from the entrance, the living room and dining room being set back to the courtyard. In the basement there was a living room (summer), kitchen, laundry, pantry, servants' room, wine and wood cellars, space for flowers. The surface of the ground floor was 233 m.p., and that of the partial floor of only 104 m.p. Here were designed 3 bedrooms for the children of the Rădoi family.
In connection with the decoration of the house, the collaboration between the architect Alexandru Clavel and the painter Ștefan Luchian, good friends, is recorded. Ștefan Luchian was the first cousin of Mathilda, his father, Dimitrie Luchian being the brother of Gheorghe Luchian, her father. The connection between the two cousins was close, with at least four portraits of Mathilda made by her cousin being preserved.
The main entrance is distinguished by carved glass windows, a rich plaster decor and decorated ceilings.
    The reception hall was decorated with floral and natural motifs, bearing the signature of Stefan Luchian above one of the doors, being engraved in 1987. In Matilda's living room, Luchian exhibits his mastery: he painted horizontally combed plaster, resulting in a false tapestry effect that completely turns into light. The ceiling is also his work - light pastels and transparencies of muses and angels. The stained glass windows in Poland, the oak paneling and a niche that corresponds symmetrically to the one in the adjoining hall complete the room in a happy way.
   Architect Mihăescu is the one who designed and built prestigious buildings in Bucharest. In 1908 he designed the School House and the Church House (today the headquarters of the Ministry of Education) in Gen. Henri Berthelot no. 11. Between 1908–1911 he also built the Boteanu Church. Other private homes in Bucharest are: Stoenescu house on Lascăr Catargiu Boulevard but also "Mița Biciclista" house. He also worked as a restorer of religious monuments (Văratec, Agapia, Neamț, Hurezi and Căldărușani) and had a university career, being a teacher at the School of Architecture, between 1898-1934.
   The developed surface of the property is 932.25sqm, arranged as follows: basement: 238 sqm, ground floor: 238, 1st floor: 146 sqm. The total land area is 1242.15 sqm
Within a radius of about 500 m away from this beautiful property are the University of Bucharest, the Intercontinental Hotel, the National Theater, embassies and prestigious institutions. In the immediate vicinity are also a number of tourist attractions and only: the historic centre, cafes, pubs and bistros, street festivals, bookstores, high schools and universities. ~

Bothersome Beams in Sirena’s Sickbay
You know how I’ve drawn a clean layout of the Captain’s Quarters to make it reflect the room as seen on screen by e.g. erasing the false door, adding in furniture and marks for the windows, etc? I've been doing that for a bunch of other places as well (toooootally not because I’m procrastinating the two Deep Dives I should be working on....), and a few days ago I started on sickbay. And now I'm stuck.
I've been staring at this so long my brain is turning to mush, so now you all get to suffer with me!
(Fair warning: there be loads of extremely pedantic observations ahead. I hope you like staring at deck plans :D)
Tumblr media
This is the outline of sickbay on the deck plans from the blu-ray Set Me Up featurette:
Tumblr media
(For orientation and because it will become important later: The front of the ship is on the right-hand side, the back is on the left.)
A quick reminder of the relevant main features: the round part of sickbay has walls that slope outward towards the top, a counter running along the wall around 2/5 of the way up, and three support beams cutting through the wall and the counter.
Tumblr media
(Note that in reality, the beams are all straight across the top; they just appear curved here due to lense distortion.)
Looking at the concentric circles in the outline above, let’s try to figure out what’s what. Easiest: the broken grey lines, i.e. the largest two circles, surely must be where the wall meets the ceiling at its widest extension. (Here marked in blue.)
Tumblr media
Next, when we look at the transition between the rectangular alcove at the back of the room (marked “med bay” in the plan) and the round “lab area”, we see that it’s smooth and there is no step in between.
Tumblr media
(Again: the walls are straight, not curved, it looks that way because of lense effects.)
Given that and the thickness of the line, I think it’s safe to assume this is the outline of the wall, most likely at floor level:
Tumblr media
These, as far as I can tell, are the windows at the front of the room, next to the door.
Tumblr media
As you can see, they extend almost to the top of the wall and stop short of the unidentified outer circle. Looking at a screenshot...
Tumblr media
...the windows sit right above the counter, so it makes sense that the remaining lines would be the outline of said counter (here in green):
Tumblr media
So far so good.
Here’s the rub. I was trying to figure out what the vertical lines dividing the counter next to the support beams might be, when I noticed these four bits:
Tumblr media
Those look like the places where the support beams cut through the counter.
Tumblr media
That makes sense, right?
As you’ve probably noticed before, these beams run throughout the entire ship. We see them everywhere on the upper and lower deck, they are clearly the skeleton that holds Sirena together. You can tell how important they are to the structural integrity because all the deck plans have these vertical, broken grey lines to indicate where the beams are located.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, take another look at the markings where the beam towards the back of the room cuts through the counter (I magnified the one on the bottom left):
Tumblr media
As you can see pretty clearly, the marking in the counter doesn’t line up with the normal position of the beams, indicated by the broken grey lines. It isn’t off by much. My rough estimate so far is that the beams are about a foot wide with seven feet between them, so this is a difference of maybe 15cm (~6″, apparently). But something is clearly strange here.
You can tell there’s something different at the back of the room, because where the beams in the middle and front are marked by long rectangles, the one in the back is only a small square. It looks almost as if there was only a single column on either side. If that was the case, it would probably mean that the beam at the back of the room was a fake, not technically connected to the beams at the rest of the ship like the middle and front ones.
But does that mean it was also moved a few centimetres further to the front? This has been driving me nuts.
There are a few possible explanations for what might be happening here.
1. I am wrong about those being the markers for where the beams cut through the counter. That is entirely possible.
2. Some changes were made to the set that aren’t yet reflected in this version of the layout. As I said elsewhere, these plans aren’t quite accurate to the final set in all details (e.g. the two steps between the mess hall and sickbay aren’t marked), so it’s possible that this is some intermediate version where the counter design varies a little from its final configuration.
3. The support beams at the back of sickbay do not line up with the beams in the rest of the ship. The production designers decided that they wanted sickbay to be the exact size we see in the plans, but for some logistical or aesthetic reason, having the beams at the back of the room in the logical position (i.e. parallel to the ones on the upper deck) didn’t work, so they moved them forward a little bit.
I cannot tell you how long I spent over the weekend trying to make heads or tails of this.
At first I thought: Well, obviously the beams must have been moved to the front. The grey line marking where they should be goes right across the front of the rectangular bit of the room. They’d block the way if they were in the “correct” place, right?
Tumblr media
Except I realized my spatial reasoning is woefully inadequate when trying to visualize a round room with sloped walls, so I did the only reasonable thing: I taught myself how to use SketchUp (again) to make a very, very crude 3D sketch of the relevant sections of this room.
Tumblr media
Turns out: when you put the beam exactly where it’s supposed to go, it does actually work out okay. I know it’s a little too small here compared to what it should be...
Tumblr media
...but that’s probably more due to my estimates for the thickness of the beams and especially the height of the room being off.
I did another version where I moved the beam forward so it sits where the counter is marked on the deck plan, and the difference is pretty negligible:
Tumblr media
It looks a little closer to what we see on screen, but again, that’s probably more a miscalculation issue than an honest-to-god result.
As a last-ditch effort I had another look through my screenshot collection. My thinking was that if the beam was moved forward slightly from where it was “supposed” to be, that would mean we’d see more of it.
Tumblr media
(On the left, the beam lines up with the grey lines. The area where it intersects with the counter (solid red) is smaller than in the right-hand example, where the beam was moved to align with the marking in the counter.)
Likewise, the distance the beams extend under the counter would be different, if not by much.
Tumblr media
(The beam on the right is moved slightly towards the middle of the room. You can see that it dips lower than the beam on the left, which is in the “correct” position.)
If this was the case we should be able to see it in the screenshots, right? Except...
Tumblr media
This is the view towards the front of the room. It’s difficult to tell with the perspective, but I don’t think there is much of a difference in how far the beam towards the front of the room (far right) and the one at the back of the room (far left) extend below the counter?
Tumblr media
Maaayyybe there’s a difference there? But then again, if you compare how far they dip below the tops of the chests of drawers, that seems pretty similar...
And this is the point where I decided this insanity had gone on long enough and I should probably stop before my brain got entirely scrambled (since, sadly, I don’t have an EMH to unscramble it for me).
So, what’s the takeaway here?
1.: Short of somebody from the production team giving confirmation either way, we won’t know what happened here. I might have misread the set plan, the plan might have changed, or the beams might have been moved. It will have to remain a mystery until we get more shots with incontrovertible evidence, or somebody takes a measuring tape to the set and reports back ;9
2.: For the purposes of drawing a layout of sickbay, I’m going to assume the beams are in the correct position, since that makes more sense in-universe. I’ll move the counter markings accordingly. If I have to make a correction to that at some point, at least I have done the legwork and can refer back to this post instead of having to explain the whole issue again.
3.: Yes, I did just spend half the weekend obsessing over 15 centimetres, to the point where I taught myself SketchUp (again) and wrote a way too long blog post (I did warn you ;9 ), only to come to the conclusion that, as we say over here: “Nichts Genaues weiß man nicht.” - I guess we’ll never know. I have absolutely no regrets!
And finally 4.: staring at images of sickbay for hours on end really makes you appreciate just how beautiful that space is. Scroll up again and have a look at the screenshots. The way the circle repeats in the lights and the table and the concentric markings on the floor. The intricate holograms projected by the ceiling lights. The plants and tools all along the counters that give the room so much texture and make it seem like a real, lived-in place. The way the crisp black and white paint on the beams and the gleaming floor contrast with the cared-for but scuffed up plating and worn-off red paint all over the rest of Sirena... I just really love this ship, okay?
Anyway. If you have any thoughts on this, or you’ve noticed something I missed, I’d love to hear about it!
I was about to say “I promise the next post will be shorter”, but who are we kidding? My brain doesn’t do brief. And what is this blog for if not extremely rambly analyses that give us all an excuse to ogle screenshots of La Sirena for a few minutes?

Heart of Audrilluria- Chapter IV; Tipsy Intel
Modern Fairytale AU
Prince!Tom Hiddleston x Theif!Reader
Tumblr media
A few sun rays peaked through the curtains made of  expensive materials. The room was lit in a soft orange glow. There was a moment of peaceful silence in the room, only partly filled by the distant chirping of birds. Y/N’s eyes fluttered open, taking in the bronze designs that littered the cream ceiling of the fairytale room she found herself in. It was peaceful.
Peaceful until the high pitched ringing of the vintage telephone filled the air. She groans,  turning to her left and reaching for the phone. “Hello,” her voice groggy. “Good Morning sunshine,” Edmundo greeted with a voice too cheerful for this early in the morning. “I hope you are well rested. For today, you have breakfast at the castle with the royals and nobility. After that, you have five hours of recreational time before you have to get ready for the Welcoming Ball. I’ll have both of your dresses in your room and a hair and makeup team ready for your return later this afternoon.”
Y/N sat up against the bed frame, rubbing the sleep out of her eyes. “Do we have a say in what we wear?” she asked, hoping there would be an option. “Sadly, all your ball-wear has been pre-picked in order for you to fit in at the events.” She sighed, “What time does the breakfast start?” “In an hour,” came the response, “You have thirty minutes to get ready, no more. I’ll see you then.” with that, he hung up. Y/N took in the room from this new angle, appreciating all its fascinating details. Unfortunately, she had to cut her admiration of the room short and get up to start yet another day in the modern fairytale island.
She jumped off the bed, going towards her suitcase to pick out an outfit for the day. Placing it on the bed, she opened it and began to look over her options. After a few minutes of deliberation, she settled on a black, fitted blazer with a sky blue blouse and navy leggings. Tying her hair up in a bun she left a loose strand on either side of her face. Something simple yet classy for the first breakfast meeting.
“Good Morning, sunshine!” Amelie greeted as she entered the room. Already dressed and ready, she looked to the vanity her sister was using to get ready. Leaning against the door-frame, she smirked at her sister in a teasing manner. “You too?” Y/N, questioned with a small groan. Amelie chuckled, “I know you’ve never been a morning person, but we can’t be late! So hurry it up!” With that, she stood up straight and left the room as suddenly as she entered.”Y/N sighs deeply, the dread of starting the day this early consuming her thoughts once more. No she’s not a morning person, but whatever was left of the jet lag she felt made it worse.
Y/N looked in the mirror one last time, before deciding she was satisfied with her look. Putting back the contents of her suitcase, she grabbed some essentials; her minaudiere, phone, wallet with the information of her alias, earphones, external charger and wire, and a digital voice recorder with discrete microphone. She put the items in her purse and headed to the main room. Amelie looked up from her seat as Y/N entered the room in a confident stride. “Let’s do this.”
~~~~~
Thomas looked over his appearance once more in the mirror. Satisfied with his look, he turned and made his way towards the door. Turning the doorknob and opening it slightly, he prepared to walk out into the hall, only to be stopped mid step by a familiar face preparing to knock on his door.
He took a moment to process the situation before speaking, “You’re not the person that normally bothers me this early.” Augustus lowers his hand down slowly, an expression of confusion gracing his features. “I suppose I’m not?” Thomas smiled at his old friend and chuckled internally at his confusion. “ Well I guess I should explain myself,” Augustus started, “ I’m here to say good morning. So good morning. And to ask you for advice.” Thomas changed his position, stepping out to the side and closing his door as he listened to Augustus talk. “It seems a bit early to have messed up enough to ask me of all people for advice,” Thomas teased, “And if we must do this, we have to walk towards the breakfast hall.”
Augustus began walking down the hall with Thomas by his side. “It’s not that I made a mistake recently. It’s advice to avoid future mistakes.” Thomas chuckled, shaking his head, “Once again, I wonder what compels you to ask the king-to-be for help.” Augustus turned to his cousin, rubbing his neck with his left hand while continuing to walk. “Your advice hasn’t led me wrong yet,” Augustus said, “And besides, it was you or the person this concerns.”
Thomas’s steps faltered slightly, realizing what type of advice Augustus was going to ask for. Dawning a teasing smirk, Thomas turned to his friend, “OH, so you are finally going to assert your feelings for a certain relative of mine?” Augustus stopped walking suddenly. He knew? Of course he knew, it was obvious. Especially for someone as intuitive as Thomas Hiddleston. Thomas stopped walking as well, turning to look at him expectantly with the same teasing expression on his face. Breaking the silence between them, Augustus cleared his throat. “So you know?” he asked shakily, slowly continuing his stride down the long hallway.
He knew the answer long before he asked. Still, a small, simple-minded part of him wanted to confirm the obvious. “Of course I do!” Thomas asserted, genuinely smiling, “I’ve known you for as long as I can walk. I’ve known for a while. I figured you liked him since secondary school.” Augustus smiled sheepishly as both men continued down the hall at a slower pace. “I suppose we can skip over the awkward confession and hope you won’t want to kill me for it, then,” He laughed cautiously, “I’ll get right to it. How would-- or rather, should-- I go about asking him if he feels the same?” Thomas’s face shifted to a grave expression, “You have to fight another potential partner to death in the dungeon deep beneath the castle in order to prove your worth for courtship.”
Augustus looked to his best friend worriedly for a moment before catching on to his joke. “Why do I bother with you sometimes?” He asked, letting out an oddly anxious breath. Thomas cracked a smile, putting his arm around Augustus's shoulder. “All jokes aside, I’ll help you.”
~~~~~~~~~~
The breakfast gathering consisted mostly of nobles discussing diplomatic actions they’ve taken in recent times and  how that has improved their country’s politics. Every once in a while, the attention of the crowd was diverted to the prince and other members of the royal council, but the nobles would go back to mingling with each other as soon as they’d said their peace. Y/N and Amelie juggled between answering the questions of the ever interested nobles--using the false and true information they were given respectively--and asking for information themselves. All the while, the recorder in the minaudiere stored every word spoken to use later when they put their intel together.
For the most part, every person in attendance would evenly distribute their attention, but there were some--namely Charles and Augustus--that would notice Thomas sneaking looks at a certain daughter of the Spanish Marquess.
The breakfast ended and the guests continued to mingle in the castle grounds. Y/N and Amelie seemingly attracted as much attention as the prince himself. Despite this, however, they had little conversation with his highness--mainly due to Y/N’s subtle refusal to do so. Having little direct contact with him decreased the chance of being found out, she reasoned.
Meanwhile, Augustus tried to work his way into a confession using Thomas’s advice. Approaching Charles with new found confidence, he inserted himself into the present conversation. “I believe I speak for all of us when I say that our job is never easy, but it is truly an honor to be in our positions,” Augustus commented, standing right next to Charles. Charles turned to look at him with playful confusion, “I wouldn’t expect that from the man who does little more than smile and pose for the press.” The group of nobles laughed while Augustus sheepishly rocked on his feet. “To be fair,” a Count interjected, “He has a pretty face.” The group laughed some more. “In fact I wouldn’t mind welcoming him into my family,” he continued, “If only I had a daughter amongst my three sons to present to you.” Augustus shifted his feet slightly. “These are progressive times. Does it matter whether or not a nobleman marries someone of the opposite gender?” He asked, looking at each noble hopefully while keeping Charles in his peripheral vision. Another noble scoffed, “It’s a policy as old as time. Noblemen should marry noblewomen. It’s tradition! We can’t throw it away simply because changes around us occur. Our stability would be thrown out the door.” The others nodded in agreement, some whispering a confirmation of their standing. Augustus turned to look at Charles, a small hint of hope still remaining in his eyes. “When you put it like that, I can’t argue with you,”Charles said simply.
Augustus felt his stomach drop to his knees. He nearly lost his footing as the ground beneath him felt like it shook. Keeping a soft, counterfeit smile, he fixed his foot-stance and looked down momentarily. All he wanted at that moment was for the earth to swallow him whole.
It was time for everyone to go their own way and prepare for the ball. Y/N had mixed emotions, but it was part of the job. The upside to this was that the ball was the perfect opportunity for the false-bond to be formed. Finding the ‘fall-guy’ would be the most crucial part of the night. They had their plan, now they had to put it into motion.
~~~~~~~~~~
The ballroom was absolutely marvelous. The ornate walls were lit brightly, making every golden glow, spreading an indescribable feeling to every inhabitant of the room. Once more, the sisters were reminded of a fairytale. Their feeling was stronger this time, considering their expensive gowns. Both gowns were elegantly decorated and made them look like true royalty--or so Edmundo said. They fit in perfectly with the crowd of expensive formal wear and jewelry fit for, well, royalty. Soft, classical music filled the ambiance, making everything seem like a pleasant dream. It was magical. But there was work to be done.
“We have to focus. Let’s get over the glitz and glamour and get to work. This is an important night,” Y/N commanded, pulling her sister to a small, isolated corner of the room. Amelie snapped out of her awe and became focused on the objective at hand. “Ok, we’ve talked to every noble at breakfast, but none of them seem like a good ‘fall-guy’, Any ideas on how we proceed?” Amelie asserted, “Any ideas on how we proceed?” Y/N looked around the room, scanning the face of every noble and connecting it to a name. “Every noble we’ve spoken to knows very little that can help us. The only thing we can do is get close to someone in the royal council, but that’s too risky. We have to find someone close enough to the crown for information but not close enough to be a risk,” Y/N recounted.
“Let’s split up,”Amelie suggested, “It’ll be easier to find someone matching that description that way.” Y/N turned to her sister, a confident smile gracing her features. “Report back with each other at the end of the night. No leading anyone on.” she declared. Turning on her heel, she was preparing to take a step away from Amelie before she heard “And don’t get attached.” Y/N smiled, walking away as she spoke in a confident tone, “I never do.”
Picking a spot in the room in which everyone was easily visible, Y/N began her search. Looking for someone that matched what she was looking for would be challenging, but in order to proceed with the plan, she had to find the perfect mark. Looking around the room full of mingling nobles, Y/N tried to find someone suitable to form the false bond with. Every duke, earl, duchess, baron, and viscount she saw had already been deemed inadequate for the job. This was going to be difficult. She was close to giving up her search in the main room and move on to the balcony area. Her search stopped when her eyes came to look upon a familiar face, one she’d recognize from their welcoming arrival. He was helplessly leaning against the bar area, already drowning himself with his choice of poison. Y/N’s face lit up, realizing this was her ticket to get close to the target. She began her stride towards the man, meticulously planning her approach as she made her way through the well-dressed crowd.
The party was in full swing. Everyone in the room seemed to be enjoying the moment. All except one. Augustus looked aimlessly around the room, subconsciously searching for the one person that could make everything feel better. He didn’t notice when Thomas walked up to him until his solemn silence was broken by his best friend’s voice; “What happened? I expected you to be happily dancing around the room by now?” Augustus sighed, still looking out to the harsh critiques that discouraged him, “I didn’t even try. It’s hard to confess when you’re surrounded by nobles who all agree that a policy as old as time shouldn't be broken, even for love.” Thomas put his hand on Augustus’s shoulder, a look of sympathy etched into his features. “I’m sorry Gus. I--” “Please, spare me your pity,” Augustus interrupted, “I don’t need that from you.” Thomas nodded, standing in front of him and placing both hands on his shoulders to provide a distraction from the people that wounded him. “Tell me what you need and I will gladly comply.” he proposed. Augustus removed both of Thomas’s hands from his shoulders, eyes fixing on the bar across the room. “I need a drink. Don’t worry about me, worry about the party. All these people are here for you.” With that, he made his way to the bar, ready to drown out his sorrows with a bottle.
As soon as he reached the bar, he asked for his favorite drink, hoping it would help him feel better even slightly. The bartender handed him the drink and his mind began to race.
Leaning against the bar, he drank his whiskey on the rocks. Reflecting on what happened earlier that day, he kept his head down and focused on nothing but his glass every time he put it down after taking a sip. Things could’ve gone better, but of course, they didn’t. How did he think it was going to go? It was destined to end in disaster, why was he hopeful? Traditions can’t be broken, especially not when defended by old, close minded men. It was hopeless. He sighed heavily, downing the rest of his drink. Before he was able to ask for another, he noticed someone approach him on his left side.
“Getting a head start?” a female voice asked. Augustus rolled his eyes, putting his glass aside. “Don’t. I’m not the type of person you think I am,” he said, already rejecting whatever intentions she had. Y/N shifted in her seat slightly, “I didn’t say you were. I’m not here to try and start something with you.” To this he sighed finally turning to face her; “Then why are you here?” “I know this might sound cliche, but I know the look of a broken heart. You don’t need a drink, you need someone who’ll listen,” she said, “That, and I’ve pretty much met everyone else here and none of them are interesting enough to be around for longer than a few minutes.”
Augustus chuckled, turning in his seat to face her and leaned his head in his hand. “You think you’re the friend I need?” Y/N scoffed playfully, “Look, it’s either me, someone too busy to deal with your problems, or a bunch of old-fashioned nobles that love to brag about how great of a job they’re doing.” Augustus laughed, preparing to argue with her before he realized she was right. “So, who was the asshole that broke your heart?” she asked, ordering a drink for herself as well as a refill of his. “It wasn’t an asshole, it was a situation,” he clarified, “I could never call him an asshole.” Y/N takes a sip, raising her eyebrow and nodding slightly, “So I was right. This is about a broken heart.”
Augustus sighed, looking down at his feet as he nodded. “Yes, I suffer from a broken heart. He wasn’t the only cause.The other noblemen started the conversation. He just gave the final blow.” Putting her glass down, Y/N looked attentively at the sorrowful man in front of her. She took his left hand in hers, softly keeping it near him in case he wanted to pull away. “I’m sorry. I didn’t think those uninteresting individuals were capable of saying something that didn’t make them seem self-righteous.” Augustus huffed, not removing his hand from her hold, “Yes, well, you never really know until something brings it up.” For a moment, both of them sat in a comfortable silence. Thinking about what to do next, Y/N downed the rest of her drink and looked briefly out into the ballroom.
“I know how to help you forget about this for a while,” she said, finally breaking the silence. Augustus looked up at her expectantly, silently hoping it would help. Y/N stood up, bringing Augustus with her. “It’s a party. People are dancing and having the time of their lives. Let’s join them.” Augustus tried to sit back down shaking his head as he pulled his hand away slightly, “No, no. I’m a terrible dancer.” Y/N smiled, laughing lightly at him, “So am I! C’mon, it’ll be fun.” Augustus didn’t budge, she had to try harder to get him to agree. “Forget about your broken heart just for tonight. Let’s show your lost love what he’s missing out on. No judgement.” Augustus smiled up at her. Unable to refuse any longer, he gave in and let her drag him to the dance floor. This was going to be one hell of a night.
“Where’s your head, Thomas?” Charles asked, turning away from the foreign duke he was talking to earlier. Thomas had his eyes fixed on the owner of a sky blue dress with golden adornments littering the fabric. “Among the crowd,” he replied. He didn’t turn away from the woman dancing near his best friend. He couldn’t look away. She was beautiful and seeing her dance around made her care-free spirit light up the room. Y/N was all he could see.
Charles followed his line of sight, only to be met with the pair. He knew Thomas was looking at her, it was obvious. The way his feet were pointed in her direction. The way he leaned towards her slightly when it looked as if she was going to slip. Every part of him was there with her. It made Charles chuckle, finally earning the attention of Thomas. “What is it?” Thomas inquired confused as to why he found it humorous.
Charles looked directly into his eyes, smiling from ear to ear. “You, my friend, are absolutely smitten!”
