Imagen| Lanzarote Internacional Turismo

DOT XI and NCCA signs MoA on cultural hub masterplan
#PHinfo: DOT XI and NCCA signs MoA on cultural hub masterplan
DAVAO CITY, Oct. 7 (PIA) -  The Department of Tourism XI regional office headed by Regional Director Tanya Rabat Tan and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) represented by deputy executive director Marichu Tellano signed a memorandum of agreement today (Oct. 7) at the Seda Hotel Davao on the masterplan for a cultural hub in Davao Region.
The DOT-XI became a grantee of P10-million from the NCCA to develop a master plan for a regional cultural hub which is planned to be built at the government center in Mintal.
The funding from the NCCA will allow for the drafting of the master plan, containing cultural profiles and inventory, architectural and engineering designs, feasibility studies, and activities and programs that would sustain the establishment of a cultural hub.
This master plan will be a pre-requisite to succeeding funding requests for the actual construction of the infrastructure, as envisioned for the hub.
Marichu Tellano, NCCA deputy executive director, said the cultural hub could contain an indoor theater for 1000 people, a gallery or museum, studios for different arts, seminar rooms, resource center or library, and an innovation center.
“The facilities will depend on what are the needs of the local stakeholders,” Tellano said adding that NCCA will not meddle on what type of facilities will be decided to be built on the cultural hub as according to the master plan.
The Region is home to eighteen (18) ethnographic groups, each with their own heritage and cultural traditions. The recognition given to their significance in both economic and social aspects is evident in the celebration of festivals and in active collaborations with their communities for agriculture, tourism, manufacturing and other related industries.
The DOT-XI has given particular interest in creating a hub that would allow the convergence and skills-sharing of traditional and modern arts, as well as the preservation of the region’s heritage and culture. (PIA/RG Alama with reports from DOT-XI)

DOT-11, NCCA sign agreement for cultural hub master plan
#PHnews: DOT-11, NCCA sign agreement for cultural hub master plan
DAVAO CITY -- The Department of Tourism in Region 11 (DOT-11) and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) signed a memorandum of agreement on Monday for the crafting of the cultural hub master plan. This, after DOT-11 received from NCCA PHP10 million to fund the development of the master plan. NCCA Deputy Executive Director Marichu Tellano, who signed the agreement with DOT-11 Director Tanya Rabat-Tan, said they expect the plan to be ready by March 2020. Tellano said the plan will be presented to the Department of Budget and Management for the appropriate funding for the construction of the cultural hub that will be established in this city. She said the plan must contain cultural profiles and inventory, architectural and engineering designs, feasibility studies, and activities and programs that would sustain the establishment of the cultural hub. "The master plan will be a prerequisite to succeeding funding requests for the actual construction of the infrastructure," she said, adding they will leave it to the host region what they want to have in the hub for as long as the basic elements are satisfied. Tellano said the hub must have facilities such as an amphitheater, museum, gallery, studios that will cater to different art forms, an innovation center for interactive exhibits, seminar rooms, library, and an archival area. "But we leave it to the needs of the local if they want to put in other facilities and the design will depend on the kind that the local host would apply," she said. She said the project is included in the Philippine Development Plan that mandates the establishment of a cultural hub in the Visayas, Luzon, and Mindanao. Tellano said this aims to "decentralize access of cultural resource where we look at the role of culture as an enabling force for development." Meanwhile, Tan said their priority remains focused on the integration of the regional tourism office to better promote tourism projects that are related to culture. "Our region is rich of traditions from arts to fabrics that are uniquely of Davao Region, and we continue to promote and preserve them because these are our identity as Dabawenyos that really set us apart from other regions," she said. (PNA)
