Looking for a Greece boat journey? Set sail to Kos Island, Dodecanese pearl!
Island rich in history and beautiful beaches, Kos is also and above all a perfect starting point for all yachtsmen who intend to sail the waters of the Dodecanese or head towards the Turkish coast.
CONTACT US FOR YOUR CHARTER FROM KOS
Where is Kos located?
This island is located in the heart of the Dodecanese, one of the famous Greek archipelagos located in the Aegean Sea. The Dodecanese refers to the group of islands bordered to the west by the island of Crete and the Cyclades archipelago, to the north by the Samo and Ikaria islands, and to the east by the Turkey coasts.
After Rhodes, Kos is one of the biggest islands of this archipelago and is also one of the most accredited by international tourism.
How to get to the island?
To reach Kos during summer you will have several flights available both direct and with a stopover in Athens. Over the years the airlines, due to the increasing tourist demand, have in fact intensified the routes from Europe to the international airport of Kos.
Ferries are the best alternative to the plane. They connect Kos with the remaining islands of the Dodecanese, but also to the Cyclades, Crete and Athens, and the main coastal cities of Greece.
What is the best 7 days boat itinerary from Kos?
Here’s our recommended week sailing itinerary from Kos, in Greece: Day 1: set sail from Kos Marina spending the day getting acquainted with the boat between a dive and a welcome cocktail; Day 2 –  3: let’s discover Kos island, its beaches, and its archeological beauties! Day 4: head to south direction to meet Nisyros island and its volcano; Day 5: route to Rhodes island to discover its magic atmosphere; Day 6: let’s circumnavigate the tiny and picturesque Symi island; Day 7: back to Kos Marina for your relaxing last day on the island;
{ "@context": "https://schema.org", "@type": "FAQPage", "mainEntity": [ { "@type": "Question", "name": "What is the best 7 days boat itinerary from Kos?", "acceptedAnswer": { "@type": "Answer", "text": " Here’s our recommended week sailing itinerary from Kos, in Greece: Day 1: set sail from Kos Marina spending the day getting acquainted with the boat between a dive and a welcome cocktail; Day 2 –  3: let’s discover Kos island, its beaches, and its archeological beauties! Day 4: head to south direction to meet Nisyros island and its volcano; Day 5: route to Rhodes island to discover its magic atmosphere; Day 6: let’s circumnavigate the tiny and picturesque Symi island; Day 7: back to Kos Marina for your relaxing last day on the island; " } } ] }
What ports to sail or take refuge for the night from?
The island of Kos is also well equipped with marinas, especially along its southern coast.
The two main ports are located near the city of Kos, on the island, side facing east and are Kos Marina, capable of accommodating up to 250 boats with a maximum length up to 80 meters and a maximum draft of 5 meters, and Mandraki Port, smaller but still well served, it offers 60 berths up to 70 meters in length.
Moving along the south-facing coast we find the small port of Kardamena Marina with its 12 berths for boats with a maximum length up to 60 meters and a maximum draft of 3.5 meters. Here the nearby beach of the same name as Kardamena is certainly worth a visit for its golden sand and wonderful inlets.
Finally, in the southwestern area is located the Kamares Marina, a large harbor for boats up to 60 meters long and a maximum draft of 8 meters, located in the city of Kamari. This area is famous for being home to the ruins of Thera, an ancient city located on the top of Thera Mountain.
What attractions does it offer its visitors?
The numerous points of interest of Kos begin already in its main port where the remains of the fifteenth-century Castle of the Knights stand. It is not the classic medieval fortress perched on a hill but rather a fort surrounded by walls from which you can enjoy a view of the town and, beyond the sea, on the coasts of Turkey.
Remaining in the city of Kos, in the square of Plateia Platanou, you can admire the most famous tree on the island, called the tree of Hippocrates because, according to the myth, it was under this plane tree that this famous character taught his students
If you are interested in archeology, be sure to walk along with the island’s most famous archaeological site, Asklepieion, a religious center dedicated to the cult of Asclepius, god of healing. It was founded in the 3rd century BC. as a medical school and treatment center.
Finally, the village of Zia is certainly worth a visit, a village located on a hill among olive trees, vines, and figs, which enjoys an extraordinary panoramic view of the nearby islands and Turkey. From Zia, you can walk to the top of Mount Dikeos, the highest in Kos.
What beaches are not to be missed?
According to many guides and tour operators, the best beaches of the Dodecanese are located in Kos, long beaches of fine golden sand bathed by a crystalline sea. Among the many you can reach floating on the sea comfortably relaxed on your boat, certainly include those of Kritika and Lambi, sandy beaches not far from the center of Kos city.
However, if you are looking for more secluded and “exotic” ones, you will have to head to the southwestern tip of the island. In this area there are in fact beaches such as Paradise beach, remote and quiet, Kefalos, a sandy beach more than 6 km long, Camel beach, bordered by two cliffs and suitable for diving, and Agios Theologos, a beach loved by surfers.
What could be a possible 7-day itinerary from Kos?
At Your Boat Holiday, we specialize in preparing and managing itineraries tailored to our customer’s requests and preferences. What you see below is just one of the many possible itineraries that our company usually organizes in the Greek Dodecanese islands:

Day 4: head to south direction to meet Nisyros island and its volcano;
Day 5: route to Rhodes island to discover its magic atmosphere;
Day 6: let’s circumnavigate the tiny and picturesque Symi island;
Day 7: back to Kos Marina for your relaxing last day on the island;

Sicily and Malta: two incredible destinations to discover during your boat itinerary!
Sicily and Malta are two top destinations of European tourism during the summer period. Find out in this article how to combine both of these destinations into a single unmissable experience onboard a rental boat:
CONTACT US FOR YOUR CHARTER IN SICILY AND MALTA
Why sail from Syracuse? How to reach this marina?
For our boat holiday, we choose to sail from Syracuse, a city in eastern Sicily overlooking the Ionian Sea, rich in history and culture. An authentic architectural gem that deserves to be visited.
Syracuse is easily accessible by air. Catania’s “Vincenzo Bellini” Fontanarossa International Airport is only 45 minutes by car from the city center.
Marina Yachting in Syracuse, also known as “Porto Grande” is instead the perfect port to set sail for our itinerary. In addition to offering excellent service in terms of customer support, Marina Yachting in Syracuse is able to accommodate up to 180 boats up to 35 meters in length and a maximum draft of 5 meters.
What could be a possible boat itinerary from Sicily to Malta?
The best 7 days sailing itinerary in Sicily and Malta departing from Syracuse is: – Day 1 – Syracuse – Day 2 – Calamosche and Noto – Day 3 – Marzamemi – Day 4 – Malta, visiting the Golden Bay – Day 5 – Gozo and Ramla Beach – Day 6 – Comino and the Blue Lagoon – Day 7 – Back to Sicily and disembark in Syracuse
{ "@context": "https://schema.org", "@type": "FAQPage", "mainEntity": [ { "@type": "Question", "name": "What could be a possible boat itinerary from Sicily to Malta?", "acceptedAnswer": { "@type": "Answer", "text": " The best 7 days sailing itinerary in Sicily and Malta departing from Syracuse is: – Day 1 – Syracuse – Day 2 – Calamosche and Noto – Day 3 – Marzamemi – Day 4 – Malta, visiting the Golden Bay – Day 5 – Gozo and Ramla Beach – Day 6 – Comino and the Blue Lagoon – Day 7 – Back to Sicily and disembark in Syracuse " } } ] }
Why choose Malta as a boat trip destination?
The Maltese Republic is an archipelago made up of two major islands, Malta and Gozo, and a third smaller island, Comino.
There are numerous beaches and even more coves where you can stop and spend the day between a dip and a sunbath. Among the most famous we certainly find the “blue lagoon” beach on Comino island, Ramla Bay on Gozo, and the Golden Bay on the island of Malta.
This small country, however, is not only suitable for those in search of sun, sand, and tan but also lends itself to cultural tourism. There are numerous historical places of interest, starting from the capital, Valletta, famous for its medieval walls from which it also takes the name of city-fortress.
VIEW ALL THE BOATS BASED IN SICILY
Made up of a multitude of narrow streets, its medieval historic center preserves intact the characteristic signs of that historical period and this is why it has been named a UNESCO heritage site.
Floating quickly on the waves of the sea with your boat, we recommend you to discover the impressive Gozo megalithic temples and the site of Hal Saflieni, famous to be the only underground prehistoric temple in the world.
In our opinion, the best way to experience all the nuances that this archipelago offers its visitors is through a boat trip. In fact, Malta and its natural beauties lend themselves perfectly to be discovered one after the other floating quickly on the sea.
What are the main marinas in Malta?
Malta seems tailor-made for sailing and navigation lovers, not only because it is rich in natural bays and inlets but also, and above all for the large number of marinas that the island offers to its yachtsmen.
The bay that protects Valletta is in fact a large port area where there are some of the best-equipped marinas in the Mediterranean Sea that can accommodate even large boats. Among these we mention the Grand Harbor Marina, located near the Sant’Elmo lighthouse, it offers 240 berths and can accommodate boats up to 135 meters in length and 5 meters of draft.
Roland Marina, on the other hand, is located in the Ta ‘Xbiex stream inside the protected port of Marsamxetto, it offers a full service open 24 hours and has 150 berths available for yachts up to 32 meters in length and draft up to 10 meters.
Finally, we point out the Manoel Island Yacht Marina, located on the southern coast of Manoel small island and is capable of hosting 300 boats up to 80 meters in length and 18 meters of draft.
What could be a possible 7-day itinerary from Sicily to Malta?
At Your Boat Holiday, we specialize in preparing and managing itineraries tailored to our customer’s requests and preferences. What you see below is just one of the many possible itineraries that our company usually organizes between Sicily and Malta islands:
Day 1: Syracuse
After making acquaintance with the crew, we set sail from the Syracuse marina heading south. We spend the first hours on the boat to acclimatize, between a welcome cocktail and a few dives off the Sicilian coast.
Day 2: Calamosche and Noto
We begin the actual navigation arriving in the first of the two Sicilian destinations where we will stop during the approach march to Malta: we will have the opportunity to visit the beach of Calamosche and the nearby town of Noto, famous all over the world for its Baroque architecture declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
Day 3: Marzamemi
The following day we head to Marzamemi, our second and last appointment with the Sicilian beauties. Considered one of the most typical villages of eastern Sicily, Marzamemi is an ancient fishing village that has now become a destination for tourists in search of its picturesque and colorful places.
Day 4: Valletta, in Malta, and the Golden Bay
We finally arrive on the Republic of Malta main island. Here we are spoiled for choice on how to spend the day. A visit to the capital, Valletta, can be a good way to spend the morning, walking along its ramparts and savoring some Maltese culinary tradition typical dishes for lunch.
In the afternoon we will instead sail to the northwest coast to reach the beautiful Golden Bay and its magnificent beach.
Day 5: Gozo
The following day we move north to the second-largest island of this small nation, Gozo. Here we spend the day looking for the best beaches and bays in which to drop anchor for a dip in the sea. Among the many, we certainly cannot give up a visit to Ramla beach.
Day 6: Comino
We end our adventure in Malta by visiting an authentic natural wonder located on the island of Comino, the smallest of the Maltese archipelago. We are talking about the Blue Lagoon, a stretch of sea with various shades ranging from blue to turquoise, home to many marine species such as dolphins and sea lions.
Day 7: Back to Sicily to disembark and enjoy your relaxing last day in Syracuse;
For any information regarding this or another possible itinerary, do not hesitate to contact us! We will be happy to answer all your questions.

Undecided from which Greek island to sail next summer? Choose Milos and discover the Cyclades archipelago by a boat!
Due to its volcanic origin, Milos is considered a rarity among the Cyclades islands. Its coasts made of rocks where splendid beaches and cliffs overlook the sea, combined with Greek typicality, its history, and traditional white houses, make it an island sought after by thousands of tourists every year.
The island navigation is also particularly convenient thanks to the protection provided by its gulf, a huge natural harbor that provides shelter and therefore welcomes a large number of boats all year round.
CONTACT US FOR YOUR CHARTER FROM MILOS
Where is Milos located?
Milos is an island of Greece and is located in the Aegean Sea. It is in fact part of the famous Cyclades archipelago, composed, among the numerous islands, also by the famous Santorini and Mykonos.
In particular, Milos is the inhabited island of the Cyclades located further west, symbolically placed halfway along the sea line that separates Athens (Greek capital) from Heraklion on the island of Crete.
How to reach our destination?
It is not possible to reach Milos by direct flight as the island has only a small domestic airport. To arrive on the island by air, it is, therefore, necessary to make a stopover in Athens and then take a direct flight.
A valid alternative to the local flight is the numerous ferries that connect Milos daily with Athens or with Santorini, which also has an international airport.
SEND NOW YOUR ENQUIRY FOR CHARTERING MY BLU SKY, BASED IN MILOS
What is Milos’s main marina?
The main tourist port of Milos, also the destination of the many ferries that arrive on the island every day, is that of Adamas.
The marina of this small town is located in the shelter of the Gulf of Milos, a natural inlet embraced for three quarters by the coasts of the island and therefore, an ideal place to sail.
The Adama’s marina offers 50 berths up to 50 meters long and a maximum draft of 5 meters.
Here are available various services such as water supply, ATM and car rental. The marina also offers a bar and a restaurant but our advice is to taste the typical Greek cuisine in one of Adama’s restaurants.
What attractions to see in Milos?
The most important village on the island is Plaka, characterized by classic narrow streets with whitewashed houses and colored doors and windows. It extends on the sides of the hill overlooking Milos and on the top of which stands the wonderful Venetian castle of Plaka, a must to enjoy a breathtaking landscape.
Among the archaeological finds of Milos, its catacombs stand out. Built around the first century AD and rediscovered in the 19th century, they were used as Christian cemeteries during the Roman domination. It consists of three catacombs interconnected through hundreds of narrow corridors.
On a hill not far from the catacombs stands finally the ancient Roman theater of Milos. Built and used by the Romans, it still resists although the signs of the passage of time are clearly visible on it. Even today it is used by the inhabitants to host various cultural events.
VIEW ALL THE BOATS BASED IN THE CYCLADES ISLANDS
What are the beaches not to be missed in Milos?
Their volcanic characteristic makes Milos beaches particularly unique, thanks to the extraordinary colors and interesting rock formations that surround the coasts.
Sarakiniko beach is probably the most famous and photographed on the island. Don’t expect to find classic sand or pebbles here. It is in fact a very suggestive almost lunar landscape made of long horizontal rocks that stretch towards the sea.
Tsigrado bay, southeast of Plaka, hides a small sandy beach surrounded by huge cliffs and bathed by enchanting waters.
A short distance from Tsigrado is Firiplaka, a small and long beach with soft sand, also surrounded by huge rocks.

Interested in Corsica? Let us show you our 7 days boat itinerary from Cape Corse to Porto Vecchio.
After years spent discovering the beauties of Sardinia, have you decided to change your destination? So why not just change the island? A few nautical miles away from Sardinia is another wonder to be discovered while sailing with your rental boat: Corsica.
CONTACT US NOW TO PERSONALIZE YOUR CORSICA BOAT ITINERARY
This french island-region has a lot to offer, both in terms of beaches and pristine sea, and because it is rich in history and traditions. Corsica is a fantastic island for a yacht charter, with unlimited combinations of itineraries for both sailing and motorboat holidays.
How to get to Corsica to start your sailing itinerary?
Obviously, if you are an adventure lover, you can sail to this island from the main tourist ports overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea such as Saint Tropez, Cannes, or the Principality of Monaco. If, on the other hand, you are looking for something less demanding, there are 4 international airports operating throughout the year in Corsica departing from the main French and European airports: Ajaccio, Calvi, Porto Vecchio, and Bastia. About twenty scheduled and charter airlines connect Corsica all year round.
Where to start your 7 days boat itinerary in Corsica?
Assuming that we have arrived there by air, our trip starts near the island’s northern tip and precisely from the tourist port of Bastia.
This city is not only an excellent starting point but also a respectable tourist destination. Walking through its narrow streets, Bastia reveals itself to be an authentic city. Its cantilevered plan, colorful facades, and architecture make it a fascinating city with the look of Genoese cities. From the historic center to the Citadel, passing through the Jardin Romieu and its Old Port, don’t miss the opportunity to visit it.
We set sail from Bastia and headed first towards the north and then along the west coast of Corsica up to its extreme south:
Day 1 – Circumnavigating Cap Corse
The Cap Corse is one of the wildest places in Corsica, it will allow you to discover numerous splendid panoramic points, typical villages such as Erbalunga or Nonza, or, if you love trekking, to take beautiful walks along the famous path named Doganieri.
Along the Cap Corse, you will find several Genoese towers and the archipelago of Finocchiarola, 3 islands classified as a Nature Reserve.
Day 2 – Saint Florent
For capacity, the island’s second tourist port after Ajaccio with its almost 1,000 berths, Saint Florent is often compared to Saint-Tropez as many tourists and some French and international stars spend their summer holidays here!
During your visit, in addition to taking a walk at the harbor, visit the narrow streets of the city and walk up to the citadel to enjoy a splendid view.
Saint Florent is also the main departure point for cruises to the Agriates desert.
The Agriates desert beaches are often ranked among the most beautiful in Corsica.
The Agriates desert is a natural site of 16,000 hectares located between the village of Saint-Florent and the Ostriconi valley, north of Ile-Rousse. This is absolutely not the classic desert with sand dunes, in fact here you will find exceptional wildlife and over 35 km of coastline.
Day 3 – Ile-Rousse and Calvi
Located in Upper Corsica at the north-west end of the island, in the Balagna region, the municipality of Ile-Rousse was known until 1848 with the Italian name of “Isola Rossa”. The origin of its name derives from the purple-red color of the porphyry rocks that formed the islets that make up the town.
The town of Isola Rossa has a marina with 450 moorings.
A little further south we find Calvi, a town known for its beaches and the crescent-shaped bay which hosts a 4.5 km long beach, bordered by a pine forest, which begins at the port entrance and extends along the entire bay.
Reaching Calvi, the first thing you will see is its large citadel perched on a rocky promontory. This imposing stronghold, consisting of 2 towers and 5 bastions, was built by the Genoese and was conquered by the French at the end of the 18th century.
Day 4 – From Porto bay to Ajaccio
Recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, the Gulf of Porto is an unmissable destination during a boat tour in these areas. Characterized by its red granite cliffs overlooking the sea, among the sites not to be missed are the Piana Calanques, the Girolata peninsula, and the Scandola nature reserve.
Founded by the Genoese in 1492, Ajaccio has around 65,000 inhabitants and is renowned for its historic center, golden beaches, crystal clear sea, and the characteristic promontories that surround it.
The historic center has the characteristics of the past Genoese cities with narrow and colorful streets, squares, white terraces, and typical markets.
Named Imperial City, Ajaccio is world-famous for being the birthplace of Napoleon Bonaparte.
In fact, there are many streets dedicated to him and to his businesses such as Cours Napoléon, rue du Roi de Rome, Viale del Primo Consul, Place Austerlitz.
During a visit to the city, you cannot miss a visit to his birthplace as well as the Giuseppina gardens (Napoleon’s wife).
Day 5 – Valinco bay
The Gulf of Valinco is certainly one of the most fascinating Corsican regions.
It is nestled between the Ajaccio bay, located further north on the west coast of the island, and the far south. It represents the perfect combination of magnificent fine sand beaches and coves and perfectly preserved natural heritage.
Among the most characteristic localities, we find Propriano, an ancient city but renovated in the 90s which now offers a thriving marina and excellent beaches. Olmeto, a typical Corse small village characterized by numerous stone-built houses and a magnificent beach of fine sand: Olmeto Plage.
Another source of attraction is the famous Caldane baths. It is a natural source of sulfurous waters that spring at a temperature of 38 degrees hidden in the small village of Chialza.
Day 6 – Bonifacio
A small village of just 2,600 inhabitants, Bonifacio is perched on a limestone fjord of incredible beauty and overlooks the famous “Bocche di Bonifacio”, the sea that separates Corsica from Sardinia.
Bonifacio has an important past told by churches, monuments, ancient buildings, and numerous historical testimonies dating back to 6,500 years ago.
Today Bonifacio lives mainly on tourism. Very lively in summer, it is full of typical bars and restaurants such as the famous “Fishermen’s Port” excavated in an internal cave. The most beautiful part of the town is its historic center, divided into the Upper Town and the Old Town and characterized by winding streets, squares, and churches overlooking the sea.
The coves scattered among its cliffs are countless. Among the many sandy beaches, we recommend those of Cala Longa and Palombaggia.
Rondinara beach deserves a separate note. With its shell shape, it is composed of fine sand and overlooks a turquoise and shallow sea. For many people, it is the most beautiful beach in Corsica.
Day 7 – Porto-Vecchio
From Bonifacio, briefly going up the Corse east coast, you finally come to Porto Vecchio, a very popular tourist town that has managed to build a refined destination image thanks to a well-kept historic center with elegant shops found especially along with with the beautiful Rue Borgo. Today this locality hosts an artistic and cultural heritage of great interest. Nevertheless in its surroundings is possible to find some of the most beautiful beaches of Corsica such as Santa Giulia, a beach surrounded by mountains and well sheltered characterized by fine sand and very transparent water, or the Saint Cyprien one, located about 11 km from Porto Vecchio and characterized by a golden sand long beach that stretches for a few kilometers.
Depending on your available time, you may now decide to head to another marine wonder, the La Maddalena National Park, a beautiful set of protected islands between Corsica and Sardinia. However, this is a matter for a future article!
If in the meantime you are feeling inspired, do not waste time and contact Your Boat Holiday for any kind of information on a sailing holiday in Corsica!

Top Recommended Boat Itinerary in the Dodecanese – Sail in the sunniest corner of Greece
The Dodecanese is an archipelago of about 163 islands and islets that rises in the southeastern Aegean Sea, off the coast of Turkey. The Dodecanese (literally meaning “twelve islands”) is in fact an island region of Greece, between Turkey to the east, the island of Crete to the south, the Cyclades to the west, and the island of Samos to the north.
CONTACT YBH FOR YOUR CHARTER IN THE DODECANESE
The main island is Rhodes, where the capital also takes place.
Located in a region of passage between east and west, the islands bear evident signs of their past, from the classical era to the Knights of Rhodes, until the Turkish and Italian occupation. Different denominations have left traces in the culture and architectural testimonies.
Only 26 of its islands are inhabited and some of the most famous are Symi, Lipsi, Nisyros, Tilos, Kasos, Khalki, Rhodes, and Karpathos.
How to get to the Dodecanese?
Depending on the itinerary you will follow, the tourist port from which it is more convenient to set sail changes. In our opinion, the ideal is to arrive by air in one of the main Dodecanese islands and then organize the departure of the tour in the nearest tourist port.
In this regard, Rhodes, one of the southernmost islands of the archipelago, hosts an international airport with daily flights arriving from all over Europe. It is located 14 miles (about 25 minutes by car) from the Rhodes marina.
VIEW ALL THE BOATS IN THE DODECANESE
Alternatively, it is possible to land on the island of Kos which, however, is further north than Rhodes. Its international airport is about a 30-minute drive from the nearest marina.
Finally, as a third option, you could reach Crete island, landing at the Heraklion international airport which is located just 5 kilometers east of the island capital which is equipped with a large marina.
What climate awaits us sailing the Dodecanese?
These islands are particularly arid and characterized by a hot and dry climate, while the winds blow mainly from the north-west. Furthermore, since they are located at the southern end of the Greek territory, they are considered the hottest destination in the country to sail to, or “the sunniest corner of Greece” as someone calls them.
For this reason, it is also worth visiting them in April (at the beginning of the season) or towards the end of October and early November, when the winds are quieter and blow from the south-east.
Recommended: Which is the best Greek sailing season? Not an easy answer!
Which is the best sailing itinerary of the Dodecanese?
Depending on your available time, you can plan a different type of itinerary. Starting from Crete, it is possible to go up the Dodecanese from the south up to the heart of the Aegean Sea. Or, starting from Kos or Rhodes, it is possible to zigzag between the various islands not maintaining a well-defined route but rather deciding it day by day.
Whatever your choice, for this kind of travel it is always good to rely on specialized rental companies. Our advice is to rely on Your Boat Holiday, a serious and responsible company to entrust with the complete management of your trip.
Finally, let’s see some of the islands that you will encounter during your 7 days boat itinerary in the Dodecanese, describing them briefly:
Rhodes  The largest island in the Dodecanese, Rhodes is a wonderful island, full of history, picturesque villages, and beautiful beaches.
The good weather affects Rhodes for most of the year: the turquoise sea, its variety of its landscapes, its forests and mountains, its vineyards and hills, its historical places, the beautiful Rhodes city with its ancient ruins will make your visit unique and unforgettable.
As a docking port, we recommend the moorings at the Rhodes town marina. Around 380 berths for boats up to 120 meters are available here. Rhodes was protected by one of the seven wonders of the world: the famous Colossus of Rhodes! A city poised between ancient and modern, it offers the visitor unique views.
SymiSymi is one of the most beautiful and welcoming islands in the Dodecanese and is located north of Rhodes, near the southwestern coast of Turkey. The city of Symi, which gives the island its name, is a village with Italian neoclassical architecture that descends from the hills and reaches the Gialos port’s crystalline waters.
It is characterized by large stairways that connect the lower part of the city to that highest called Horio, the oldest part of the island. Horio is full of small alleys where pastel-colored houses alternate with ancient ruins. Here are also the ruins of the castle built by the Knights of San Giovanni in the early 1400s.
The main night anchorage is that of Gialos.
Nisyros In complete contrast to Symi, Nisyros features the classic Greek landscape with whitewashed houses.
Obviously, the most important attraction and the one that alone is worth the trip is visiting the Nisyros volcano. The main crater is divided into five other small craters from where pinnacles of sulfurous smoke emerge continuously. Due to the summer temperatures of the place, it is recommended to arrive early in the morning.
Anchorages are available at Mandraki Harbor, in the southeast corner of the island.
Tilos
Tilos is full of small treasures but remains far from the flows of mass tourism that cross the Aegean Sea. A result is a place where a quiet and very relaxing atmosphere resists.
This small island, with its approximately four hundred inhabitants, offers several beaches, twelve mountains, a famous cave, and a handful of more or less ruined castles.
The gateway to the island is the port of Livadia where most of the accommodations are also concentrated.
Kos
Second, for extension after Rhodes, Kos is rich in history and natural beauty. Here 2500 years ago, in the shade of a large plane tree, the father of modern Western medicine, Hippocrates, taught his disciples. And a large plane tree is located in the main square of the city, Plateia Platanou, and it is said that he planted it himself.
Archaeological excavations have brought to light the remains of its ancient past, when it was one of the richest and most powerful islands in the Aegean Sea and when its trade also flourished.
If you stop in Kos, you cannot fail to enjoy its splendid beaches. Among the many, we mention the Kardamena beach, in the southern part, the Kefalos one, also in the south of the island, famous for its transparent waters with various clubs and the possibility of practicing water sports.
Finally, the wonderful beach of Mastichari, an exotic white sand beach with turquoise waters also equipped with a small port.
Chalki
Chalki or Halki is a small and wonderful island, once inhabited by fishermen who then emigrated elsewhere, located west of Rhodes. Far from mass tourism, today its houses have all been restored following the typical Greek architecture and are rented to tourists. Its 34 kilometers of coastline make it one of the smallest islands in the Dodecanese archipelago. The landscape that distinguishes it is mountainous with small and rocky beaches.
Among the places of interest, we mention the abandoned village of Hora.
Nimporio is the only town and the main port of the island.
