'The Garfield Movie' - This is Not the Cat I Was Looking For

I grew up on Jim Davis’ “Garfield.” I loved this lazy cat whose affection for lasagna and reveling in his own laziness and selfishness often had me laughing quite uncontrollably. I even got my first-grade teacher to initiate a celebration which I proudly called “National Number One Garfield Day” which my classmates were eager to participate in. And yes, I reveled in those animated classic…

it's strange being in this universe a lot of the time. everybody is so normal. and yet, at the same time, everybody is so different. i can't access my quirk, and it makes my skin itch. sometimes i act as if i'm about to use my uirk, and then nothing happends. when that happeneds, i intuictively get panicked for a secod before i rememeber that this body is not my own. this body isn't the one that i spent 17 years of my life in.

it dosn't have the marks; it dosnt have the progress. it dosn't have the memories and stories-- not the big ones, but not the small ones either. it dosn't have mark over my heart, or teh scars on my face or neck, but t the same time, it dosn't have the scar on my right knee from when i was nine and hurt myself mountain biking. it dosn't have all the little lived in marks.

sure, there were parts about my original body i disliked, but at least it was what i was used too. this bodys just so... unfamilier. recently i freacked out because my teeth were wrong. it wasn't just the teetht ho, it was just a lot of body dysphoria that had been in dinal that we finally admitted. a lot of us feel differently about a lot of different parts of the body, but we all agree its strange.

i dont hate this body. i dont love it either. it's simpley there. and it's different.

Brown sugar shorts

This year, 2023, marks the first edition of BROWN SUGAR SHORTS, a short-film competition aimed at boosting Afro-Caribbean culture and French talent.

Following a call for applications on Instagram, 8 short films were selected, rated by our panel of professionals and will be shown on the Grand rex cinema. The public was also able to take part in live voting during the festival via the new BS+ festival app. The votes counted for 50% of the public and 50% of the Jury.

The jury was made up of Laurence Lascary, producer and founder of the production company De l'autre côté du périph. Zangro, producer and founder of the production company Bien ou bien productions. This year's the godfather is the artist Mokobe.

The short films selected for the first edition are :

"L'enfant orange" by Alexandre DESANE

The winner of the first edition of brown sugar shorts was Victoria NETO, who presented the short film PEMA.

The Jury Prize went to Marvin Yamb for his short film Parce que je t'aime.

“Lord, you’re gorgeous.”

Those are the words Lancelot hears when he wakes up. Dinadan is not touching him when he opens his eyes, but it is Lancelot who reaches over so that his hand is pressed against his neck. He has heard those words before from others, but it is the way they are said now - and perhaps it is because of the person who speaks those words - that makes it all so different. It is still dark even with the windows open, dawn has not come leaving the weak sputtering candle in the room to cast distorted shadows over them both.

“You think so? Even with all my scars?” Lancelot asks him. He thinks of the scar tissue from battle wounds patterning his skin beneath his clothes, of the scratches pale against the skin on his arms where all of his freckles are. For a moment he wonders if this is going to end like times before, where he leaves Dinadan to lapse back into sleep and thinks to himself about how inevitable it all really is. He does not think much with it ending that way with others, but he is not certain if that is what he wants with Dinadan.

“I know,” he says, and leans over to dot kisses all over Lancelot’s nose and cheeks and against his jawline. They are all soft and there are moments where Dinadan pulls away and pauses, as if he asks if Lancelot wants feather-soft kisses and to be told he’s gorgeous. And he does, because it’s different this time. It isn’t like with others.

They don’t speak, but it’s when Dinadan swipes his tongue against Lancelot’s lips in a kiss that he flushes pink. They stay like that and then both pull away for air.

He feels Dinadan’s arms wrap around him in the dark of the room, forgets the marks embedded against his body. Now would be the time one of them might say “I love you”, and this time they would mean it. But they don’t need the sound of words now, at least that’s what Lancelot thinks.

“Even with all your scars,” Dinadan echoes. “No - it’s because of all your scars. Without them, it’s not really you. And I’m just glad it’s you.”

Lancelot thought he wouldn’t need to hear words, but those are the words he wanted and needed to hear.

’ Why don’t you read it to me? ’

A gentle fire in the fireplace. Tea, cookies, warm blankets. Soft piano music playing on the speakers. The snow falling slowly as the evening faded to full night. Camilla was asleep on her tower, purring happily. And L was perfectly content in her spot on the sofa, smiling as the worst of the daily pains had dinally faded.

It was a perfect evening.

Well, almost perfect. Shouta was still in that damn shower when she had finally curled up with her tea.

She was glad she didn’t have to wait too long for him though.

“What are you reading?” Aizawa asked as he flopped onto the sofa.

“Something romantic and terrifying in a language you can’t read,” she teased. “I don’t think you’d enjoy it anyway.”

He shrugged, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. “Why don’t you read it to me?”

She looked at him, trying not to laugh. “You sure pick the worst scenes to join in on.” She bookmarked her spot and flipped to the beginning. “If I’m going to read to you, you’re starting from chapter one.”

“Sounds good to me.”

L rolled her eyes and returned to the story. It wasn’t the most impressive tale, but it was one she was growing fond of. A noblewoman going on a quest of vengeance, accompanied with a tall, dark, handsome stranger who may or may not be some kind of shape shifting spirit of nature. And she may or may not have gotten to the scene of...intense passion, before Shouta finally joined her.

But at least he didn’t press on and complain about starting the story from the beginning. She could go back once he fell asleep and read that scene then. At least this way she’d know if she could skip it.

No way she’d read it out loud.

Camilla had woken up about midway through the first few chapters and made herself comfortable on L’s lap. At some point Shouta had leaned back, pulling L into his own as their legs got tangled up under the blankets. His arms rested snugly around her waist. His face buried perfectly in the crook of her neck.

She felt content.

“‘And what of the masters?’ asked Karina. ‘What of young Robert and his birthright? His legacy? He has every right to know the truth. Does the truth not matter to you, Lord-”

A gentle snore interrupted her narration. She looked over her shoulder, smiling fondly as she saw Shouta had fully fallen asleep. They’d both completely laid flat on the sofa, her resting on his chest. She saved the page with a second mark and set it on the table, turning over and making herself more comfortable as Camilla took perch on the arm by their heads. 

“Good night, Shouta,” she whispered. L gave him a quick peck on the lips, and then drifted off to sleep.

I apologize for continuously bringing this up but I thought i'd share a dinal piece of information i've learned that might explain some peoples issues with Talis and why some say it contradicts what other Qunari say. Apperently Felicia Day created and wrote everything about Talis for Mark of the Assassin, not the guys from Bioware. So it's possible she simply ignored the bits she didn't like, gave the writers what she did and they just went along with it. Or EA made them, who knows.

Given how Mass Effect Andromeda went with them doing similar shenanigans with people not qualified for their jobs, I'm not surprised honestly.

Marcus Smart got away with a flop during the second quarter of Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Sunday and was ridiculed for it.

The Boston Celtics defender was guarding LeBron James with just under 40 seconds remaining in the first half of Game 7. LeBron tried to drive on him and made a little contact with Smart, who flopped as if he had been nailed in the face.
